Excerpt: Living with Wei Ying is a lot like owning a pet. Not that Lan Wangji thinks of him as such, that would be inappropriate, but he demands attention in a similar fashion and Lan Wangji often finds him eating things he shouldn’t, so there are similarities.

This on begins during the siege of the Burial Mound. Wei Ying is trying to destroy or nullify the tiger seal before anyone else can get it. The results don’t work out quite how he thought they would. His essence is trapped in between time where he witnesses different scenes of the lives of those he cares about. (The 13? 16? Years when he was dead.)
Then he wakes up in a place he didn't expect.

ObiYuki fic recs while I’m on this ‘I can’t believe I found such good content’ high:
Watchtower series by happybubbles. I was worried for a hot minute that this was going to be whump, but instead it’s a really stark take on what would happen if Shirayuki and Zen’s eventual marriage got the full royal treatment. It’s sad for Shirayuki in a lot of ways, but her strengths as a character really shine as she works her way out of the dark with her ‘dark knight’ by her side. Has some incredibly good sexual tension (and smut in the alternate takes) + cool introspection for some of the other oft-forgotten characters.
Knots by krispy_kream. The Obi introspection is so real here. Treating getting close to Shirayuki like a game, specifically to annoy others and challenge authority, then realizing he’s in way over his head? Hell yeah. It’s one-sided and glorious in the tension of it all.
Do Not Go (Where I Cannot Follow) by Sabraeal. The layers here! The LAYERS! Obi never quite saying what he means, hoping Shirayuki will understand him ultimately, him being her self-sacrificial knight and her refusing to take that laying down. NICE. All of the pharmacy crew is in-character and wonderful, too. Extra points for SUCH an Obi-style confession.
There are a lot of others that are incredibly good but unfinished out there. Honestly I’d recommend just reading every fic that’s available lmao I’m shocked at how consistent the quality is across authors for this ship.
