i was reading some romcom manhwa and thought about this cute scenario🥺 can u write bts reaction to getting mistaken as a couple when they’re hanging out with their crush? thank u!

Seokjin

Seokjin would be embarrassed not knowing what to say at first before stuttering and saying you're not dating then make a joke about how you might later. He'd try to play it off desperately trying not to show his real feelings but his red ears would give him away immediately.

"Ah, you two look so cute together! How long have you been dating?" An older woman approached you two smiling at you brightly.

"W-were not uh not now m-maybe later? HA." Seokjin's ears were bright red as his eyes darted from you to the stranger in quick succession.

Yoongi

Yoongi would be unfazed but embarrassed on the inside trying to play it off by acting confident. He'd pull you closer to him acting brave but as soon as you two walked away he'd laugh embarrassed about what he'd just said.

"You're both so cute! How long have you two been dating?" A pair of young girls came up to you two as you were picking out a new sweatshirt for Yoongi.

"Ah, we're not dating yet but thanks." Yoongi said wrapping his arm around your shoulder turning you back to the task at hand.

As soon as the group left Yoongi took his arm off you putting his head in his hands, laughing uncontrollably. "Aish haha."

Hoseok

Hoseok would think it's funny laughing uncontrollably but more so because he's not too sure how to react. He'd be so shocked he didn't know how to react properly laughing up a storm, but as soon as you two left noticing how angry you were he'd go back to being sweet.

"Oh you two are such a cute couple! When did you start dating?" A couple had walked up to you two while you were out on a walk.

"Us? Do you mean us? Haha!" Hoseok leaned forward clenching his stomach as he laughed, you glared at him your face bright red while you huffed.

"I'm sorry did I make you sad? Hobi's sorry! Please forgive Hobi!" Hoseok shook his body back and forth in front of you pouting while he apologized to you.

Namjoon

Namjoon would be flustered not knowing what to say exactly and while he'd be trying to explain how you two aren't together he'd stumble and stutter over his words. He'd think that he had been too obvious with showing how much he liked you.

"Ah are you two together? There's a discount for couples today!" The waiter looked at you two as they placed the menus down in front of you.

"U-um n-no were not s-sorry?" Namjoon rubber at his neck his face turning pink, avoiding eye contact with you.

The waiter walked away and you couldn't hold back your laughter anymore. "Wow Namjoon-ah were pretty flustered there huh?"

Jimin

Jimin would be a little flustered but also would be cute about it thanking them for even thinking that about you two but not denying it. He'd then drag you away asking if you thought that you two were cute together as well.

"You two look adorable you're such a cute couple." An older woman said as she came up pinching one of Jimin's cheeks.

"Thank you I'm happy you think so!" Jimin replies with a sweet smile clasping your hand in his own.

As you bid your farewells to the woman Jimin turned to you. "So do you think we're a cute couple?"

Taehyung

Taehyung would find it funny, leaving you to fend for yourself watching from the sidelines. He'd want to see how you'd react to him and you possibly dating letting your reaction decide if he should ask you out or not.

"Are you two dating?" The store clerk asked as you two rang up your items. Taehyung continued getting his card out ignoring them as you sighed.

"Um no we're not right now why?" You said your cheeks turning hot.

"I just thought you two looked cute that's all!" They smiled at you as they finished bagging the rest of your items.

"Ah thank you!" You blushed harder hiding your face behind Taehyung's arm.

After you finished loading the groceries into the car Taehyung laughed reaching over the center console placing his hand on your knee. "So we're cute huh?"

Jungkook

Jungkook would be awkward standing there in silence for far too long making everyone around you two uncomfortable. He'd then look at you silently begging for help before stuttering out that you two are on your first date right now.

"Oh my god! You two look great together are you on a date right now?" A group of young women came up to you two as you were resting for a few moments.

"..." Jungkook stood there wide eyed for a few seconds before turning to you waving his hands around.

"Um?" The strangers were clearly confused looking between you two.

"Y-yes! First date! Going now! Thanks." Jungkook jolted upwards grabbing your hand bringing you up as well, his face was bright red as he rushed away from the strangers.

The one where it takes Thomas a year, please :))))

...and no one was surprised at your choice haha, but I'm far from complaining since it's one of my favourites as well, so thank you for letting me talk about it 🥰

this one is the first Thomas fic I ever wrote, I remember thinking the others were easier to write for at first but then something clicked in my brain with Thomas and this story (and many many other ideas!) evolved out of that

I really enjoy stories that have some kind of concept and I played with the idea of cycling through some sort of time frame before and as I started thinking about this one, it just seemed to make sense to chronicle them going through a year of ups and downs

Obviously that's also where the title stems from because as much as the ups in this can be great, it really does take Thomas a full year to commit to this relationship

I did like the idea of throwing y/n into the situation with no idea about any of them and simply being enamoured with seeing Thomas exactly the way he is

I also like how straight from the beginning there's a sort of alienation also because she can't keep up with his Italian and not keeping up seems to be a minor theme in general

Also I very purposely used a bit of different style of story telling and excluded all direct speech and I think it definitely works in this context

I played a lot with mirrored scenes here as well, and I quite like how it turned out, for example the end of January with her leaving him there followed by February where he's doing the same to her

Also, I'm not sure why, but I really enjoy the short scene of them having sex on the balcony, I think that's something I could write pages about (maybe I should)

As for the other three, I didn't want to go the picture perfect route of them just loving her unconditionally immediately because as much as I think they're absolutely capable of that, they'd also be fiercely protective of their friends

May is very much about the realisation that you might want different things and the disconnect happening between them emotionally and how they're just not talking clearly about what they want

I also found it important to highlight that even though Thomas is super close with his band mates, he very much doesn't tell them everything and in fact may hide things, reasons for this are open to speculation but I have my own

Again, with the mirroring of scenes, in June I maker her leave him in the morning but I think it's quite a contrast to his behaviour because she seems to do it with a much heavier heart

The August chapter was a little painful to write, because as much as she had been aware that they were far from perfect and that their expectations of their time together kept diverging further and further, to actually catch him with someone else in what seems like a bleak proof that none of what they had was special was... ouch

I also made Vic interject here because I think she loves her friends very much but she's also not one to shy away from telling them when they fuck up

I quite like what I did for September in October, it's a very simple structure that hopefully mirrors the way she feels in those days, there's little contrast in those two months that suggest it's getting better (or is it getting worse?) but still shows she's very stuck

When he apologises in November I really wanted to make sure she didn't forgive him too quickly because I wanted this story to feel honest and not like a quickly-written, barely-planned-out, unrealistic type of romcom where one sentimental gesture and an apology makes everything okay

It's also why they don't have sex that night because Thomas needed to prove that he's in this for the right reasons, for her, and not leave a single doubt about him potentially only being after the physicality of it

December feels a bit like an epilogue and I hope I didn't wrap the story up too quickly but I quite like this part either way because yes, things are good, and yes, there's love in the air and it's fluff but it still feels real and fragile, only in a more positive light this time around

Anyway, I still love this story with all my heart and I really want to write something like this again, I just need to figure out how and what makes this story (is it the style? the concept? the content?) so I can get the feeling back and put it in more fics 💕

Twice

The door swings open as I rush inside, and I lock it behind me. I cry and pace in the bus, chewing on my finger while I debate what to do. Slipping my phone from my pocket, I dial Marilyn’s familiar number. The phone rings twice, then she picks up. “I slept with him,” I blurt before I can plan how to explain this whole debacle.

Trail

“You’re up early,” I comment, standing, but keeping the rainbow-striped blanket wrapped around me. It trails behind me like a colorful train as I enter the kitchen.

“Call me. Every day,” she says with her voice wavering.

“I promise,” I say, just as emotional. I exit our embrace and loop an arm through one of my backpack’s straps and lift the maroon suitcase. With a final goodbye to Marilyn, I walk to the bus door and begin the next eight weeks of this adventure.

Telling

Me: Of course, you have a selective memory, haha.

Jet: Give me a break. I was half-asleep at the time.

I smile at the light coming from my phone, imagining Greyson telling stories about the constellation while Jet falls in and out of sleep. My eyelids droop.

Me: Speaking of. We should be sleeping.

Hands

Again, the sweet violent collision of our hands happens, somewhat messy and more akin to a fumble than a tackle, except this time, he keeps a hold of my fingers, lacing them through his own. His skin warms mine and the soft pad of this thumb traces my hand, like his hands were made to hold mine.

Once again answering asks for this post at a glacial pace haha. Life of Crime is my Clint-Barton-as-a-villain romcom.

15: What did you learn from writing this fic?

Hmm I remember spending quite a bit of time rewriting the ending, because the original one wasn't gelling. Endings are a constant struggle for me, and I thought a lot about Diana Wynne Jones' advice to end the story as soon as you've said everything important - but it's hard to find that place! I don't think I learned how to finish fics from this, but it definitely kept my brain turning on it.

13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?

I don't listen to music while writing but someone made this fanmix for the fic and i looooove it. absolutely perfect. the john cage interlude always gets me. thank you 8tracks for still existing and working

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

I don't think so! there ARE two similar marvel fics that i wrote big chunks of and never finished, tho. one is a clint-centric ren faire AU, where clint is just a guy with an archery store, and steve is hiding out from being captain america by working for clint (without clint knowing he's a superhuman). the other is sam/steve, sam-centric, where sam is joining a bunch of different superhero teams in order to show off that he doesn't Need the avengers. steve meanwhile gets really into ultimate frisbee. i REALLY liked both of those fics but they were too long and i lost steam ;-; maybe someday!

hi hi!! finally have more time to write rqs hehehe ☆ i dont know if i characterized tomoya rights so apologies on that ^^'

☆ Subaru & Tomoya on an at home movie date with their S/O ☆

☆ Subaru ☆

☆ Subaru would probably be the one to suggest the movie date! He likes watching movies, but likes the more comfy feel that you would get from watching it at home instead of somewhere like the theatres. He doesn’t mind cinemas to say, but he’d rather be somewhere more familiar.

☆ I’d like to think that you two would watch random movies that you see on Netflix or Hulu or something. Like you or Subaru see something that piques your interests and decide to sit there and watch it. Whether it was good or not, who knows hehe.

☆ If you had to pick a specific movie genre you two would end up watching the most, it would probably be romcoms. Sure, they may get kinda old with the same formula, but Subaru likes watching them, and always laughs at the stupid situations the mc and love interest get into. It makes you enjoy them, even just a little bit. You two most definitely watched the entirety of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and Subaru maaaay have teared up at Always and Forever.

☆ This one movie date goes on for hours, waayyy later than you and Subaru should really be up. But you guys don’t mind! Subaru, holding you in his arms, intently watching another movie. You forgot what it was called, also losing count of what number of films you’ve watched already.

You feel so warm in his hold, you almost want to fall to sleep. Your eyes start to droop as you doze off. Subaru feels your head lean over to one of his arms, he notices that you’ve fallen asleep.

“Haha! This is just like those moments in those movies we watched!”, he exclaims, soft enough so that you don’t wake up. He gets up from the couch, laying you on one of the pillows, and grabs a blanket. Subaru drapes it over you, before shuffling under the blanket to your side and holding you as you sleep. He kisses your cheek and mumbles “good night” before falling asleep himself.

☆ Tomoya ☆

☆ Tomoya probably chose to do a movie date at home, mainly because he wanted to take you out to an actual theatre when his schedule was cleared, but then he thought about the fact he was an idol, and would rather not have people point him out while he’s on a date with you. Besides, he doesn’t mind staying at home either.

☆ He probably has some movies up his sleeves, most likely popular ones that are in theatres and ones that have pretty good reviews. Maaaybe threw in a couple of his personal favorites too. If you have a movie that you want to watch, he’ll put that on too! Tomoya wants to make this a good date for the both of you!

☆ He brought out a bunch of snacks and drinks he knows you like! He wouldn’t want you to go without some sort of food for who knows how many hours long.

☆ I feel like after each movie, you two would talk about it. Like your thoughts, parts you liked, etc. You guys do this after each movie. It’s secretly a way for him to try and find the general kind of movies you like, so he can make the most of however long you guys will stay awake.

☆ This date also goes on for a while. Maybe not into ungodly hours, but longer than when he would probably go to sleep at. You hear a long yawn from Tomoya, him rubbing the excess tears away.

“You tired? Y’know, we can sleep here if you're fine with it. I’m fine with that.”, you say as you pat the pillow beside you, his usual one. You let out a yawn too afterwards. Tomoya laughs.

“You’re tired too, huh?” You nod. “Should we go to my room? I mean, I’m not sure if it’s the best idea to sleep on a couch.”

“No, it’s fine. I don’t wanna move right now. It’s comfy here anyway~...”, you fall back onto the pillow, before rolling over to your side. Tomoya sighs, before giving you a soft smile, nodding. He turns off the TV and lays down right by you, grabbing a nearby blanket to cover the both of you. Tomoya looks up at you, thinking for a moment, before giving you a small kiss.

“Good night.”, he whispers to you, falling asleep shortly after, a small blush covering them as he does so.

Everyone has the right to their own opinion for sure but since i’m seeing so many people hating on and bashing Heartstopper lately now that it's a live action Netflix show and really in the public eye there’s so much stuff I see these people refuse to acknowledge about it before going online and being so negative about it without even watching it or reading the source material.

I for one am so so glad to see something like this become mainstream and popular. Like this is a show that gets actual young adult/teen actors to play teenagers AND gets real POC to play roles written for POC AND actual trans actors to play trans characters. That alone is actually pretty monumental and reason enough to support it even if it’s not your thing because if we don’t ensure that it does well these corporations won’t greenlight stuff like this anymore and we’ll have even less representation.

It’s also really really amazing for a smaller content creator and not some big wig executive to be getting the chance to tell a story on a platform that can reach a lot of people! Again it’s important to support things like this! Support stuff made by small creators support artists who are queer and POC!

Unfortunately, not every single piece of media was made to specifically cater to your life experiences. For me as a queer POC I relate to both the comic and the show a lot. To see people hating the show so much and calling it corporate, unfeeling, and unrealistic or whatever is so invalidating to my own experiences considering… I relate to it!! Like are my experiences any less valid than yours because I relate to and enjoy a light hearted Netflix show?

I also feel like a lot of people are either not researching or forgetting that the original comic is literally made by an aroace nonbinary writer/artist, Alice Oseman, and that they were very involved in the creation for the show. Don’t we want these opportunities for creators? Personally, I don't feel that anyone has the right to say something has no value representation wise when it's literally made by someone who is in the community they seek to represent. Not that you can't critique content made by queer people about being queer (or poc content made for poc people for that matter) or dislike it, of course you can and should, but this "all or nothing" mentality the internet seems to have developed in regards to rep is so frustrating to see. Not all rep is good rep to me sure but with Heartstopper it's literally just... what too happy and silly? Literally what is wrong with that?

I think our community has enough sad depressing media and enough stories telling us we're going to die in the end and enough stories telling us we only exist to be comic relief for haha funny jokes or to be fetishized through bizzare sex scenes. Like the fact we even have a silly romcom for teens is such a good step forward. I know Heartstopper isn't the pinnacle of gay rep, but nothing ever will be!! Nothing is ever going to be perfect with absolutely no problems or things to improve on nor is any piece of media going to be able to encompass every single queer experience on the planet. I just think it's unfair to write off a piece of media written from a genuine place of love and care made by someone IN the community for reasons like that. We can just appreciate it for what it is. Holding it to such high standards as if it's claiming to be some cinematic masterpiece makes no sense when that’s not at all what it’s trying to be. Having a few cute stories isn't hurting anyone. Just because you personally can't see yourself in something doesn't mean other people can't. Shouldn't you be glad kids are seeing themselves in the show even if you can’t...?

Like idk maybe let people enjoy something happy and low stakes for once (not that the show doesn’t have its fair share of teen drama). If you hate Heartstopper that's fine but literally why go online and complain about it and make people feel like they don't belong in the community because you don't like it or relate to it yourself? Literally just don't watch it, block the tags, and unfollow people so you don't have to see it?

Maybe just ask yourself if you’re really angry at this little show about gay teenagers coming of age or if you’re actually angry at society for creating a system that erases our voices so much that we only have a fraction of the variety of content cishet people get and thereby there’s nothing custom made for you. 🤷

Personal reviews on RSL filmography

Rsl, iI thought it’d be a good idea to record my thought on each films rsl was in, it was something I always wanted to do...

Rsl in total, was starred in (excluding tv series etc) 27-ish films, to be honest, considering his years as an actor(approximately more than 30 years) he wasn’t starred in that many. We all know why lol

Just saying I’m not a film expert, therefore the list is very subjective.

The reviews with trigger warning (r*pe, g*re etc): Tape, Killer: Journal of Murder, A glimpse of hell. Tho in the writing I’ve censored them with * since I don’t feel comfortable saying them here

There isn’t particular spoilers except for dps, tape, and ground control

The favourites (literally my life time films)

Dead Poets Society

I assume many would agree, and as many would have, it was my first ever rsl film, like I was on the plane and it was one of the films they offered, and I was like, oh I think i heard of this, so I watched and instantly loved it. The message is very relevant to this day, the cinematography is very beautiful and somehow nostalgic. I was horrified with Neil’s death. Tbh now I’ve seen too many memes and all kind of things from the fandom (which I’m grateful for!) I thought the heartfelt I once had would deluded a bit, however when I watched it again last April with my family at the cinema and it still moved me very deeply.

The age of Innocence

Okay, unpopular opinion here, I love this so much. It’s my all time favourite rsl film. It even outruns dps tiny winy bit haha. Aside from how he had tiny winy screen time, appearing at the end but the fact that he played quite an important role and him being gorgeous in it just<33 I couldn’t help but smiling! It just the whole film was so much of my cup of tea? The melodrama and the hypocrisy hidden by elegance among the upper social classes in 19th century is just what I needed. The more I watch it, the more I understand the characters and their emotions, it’s one of those films you should keep visit to discover the things you weren’t aware of before. I watched it again this morning and i couldn’t stop thinking about it. However, I know some people find it boring and I understand why, my sister is one of them lol(except for a bit where rsl was in) but i think it’s more complex than what it appears to be at a first glance haha. In conclusion, it became one of my comfort film to watch time to time.

The ones I like<33

Swing kids

At first viewing, I didn’t expected much because it had underwhelming reviews but when I actually saw it, I thought it was quite decent and more and more I watched it, I felt like it was underrated. Yes, I think some directing choices were bit old fashioned and cheesy especially the ending, I’m not saying it was a perfect masterpiece but it deserves more recognition than it has now. Also in spite that there’re some parts being too simplified, it touched on something other films about ww2 normally don’t. It was interesting to see the German perspective on it than Jewish or the allies perspective like many of them does, but of course the latter perspectives matter, it could be argued that they more valid than the former, which partly was where sk criticised for, however, the portrayal of the varied reactions of the German people (in this one particular the teenagers) has its value in their on way. Anyway along side with it, the music and the dance scenes were great, without exaggeration, though Swing kids isn’t my fav, peter’s solo dance scene is my favourite scene in any movies I’ve ever watched. I mean that scene had both visuals and meaning as it demonstrated Peter’s determination as well as resentment with a hitch of unsureness. Rsl acting in that scene was just phenomenal, it’s not about showing off the dancing skills but he portrayed every mixed emotions peter has from his expression and the moves, I just can’t talk about this enough especially this scene was the reason I started fallen for him. lol

Much ado about nothing

Much ado is something I never seen anything like so it was a refreshing exprience. I barely watched Shakespeare on screen kind of thing. Though I felt there were some bits too cheesy for me but they are also the charms in the same time, and the cinematography was pretty also Claudio aka rsl, it was like an official announcement of declaring my worship on this man. Especially it was after SWING KIDSSSS so I couldn’t help it now everyone knows how I fallen for him but no one can blame meeeeee Anyway, it’s a really good film to watch when you want be relaxed with cup of tea maybe hehe

In the gloaming

I heard about it before I watched it, that it’s a heart wrenching, tearful piece, though I didn’t managed to cry, it’s just.... painful and in a way heartfelt. I liked that story telling was calm and collected rather than forcing you to join the sob party, just showing the characters to carry on. And thanks to the great acting from the cast, the characters could be emphasised and understood, personally the older sister was the most relatable character for me, well, eldest complex lol. In short I liked it but it’s not something I would watch it often.

Last days of Disco

As a person who looks at aesthetic in films, I simply enjoyed this for that tbh. I don’t know, I just liked the feeling. But I don’t think it’d be everyone’s cup of tea. I love the day time clothes the girls wore in the film. Tbh I love the music too, I think I love all the films of rsl with music in it. Speaking about rsl, oh rsl, he’s.... His character might be bit unlikable but he was just.... This is why I can’t unlove his characters even the debatable ones<33

They were decent! (I would recommend it)

Married to it

This is the first and last ever attempt of rsl of romcomssss The film itself is cliche to be frank it’s like love actually but it’s about marriage life + it’s not christmas but I like heartfelt cliche stories like this, if anyone also loves this type of story, it’s really worth watching, it’s one of my comfort films, also, rsl is so pretty I mean he always is but to see him being a office man with a baby face made me go awww my baby grew up heheh I wish he did another romcom like this or more preferably, melodramatic romance, I’d have made a shrine of it and worship it every morning lol

The boys next door

I kind of smiled while watching it throughout, if you want something that is heartfelt and touch on some serious topic about social workers and the people with mental disorder, Rsl plays a character who has (I think it was) Schizophrenia and troubled relationship with his father(Deja vu I know) but general atmosphere tend to be quite humourous. I don’t get me wrong, though it’s light hearted, it doesn’t mean they treat the topic in the same way. There’s a scene where the protagonist imagining the one of the characters with the disorder talking eloquently and honourably at the court on the rights and the dignity of the people with mental disorders deserve to/should have and they’re just the same people as the people without mental disorders. It was a powerful scene.

My two loves

Rsl’s first ever screen debut film! Hehe it’s about a woman who is discovering her sexual identity and the conflicts within I personally thought it was fairly sensible depiction but I can’t say for sure whether it was accurate or else, since I don’t think it’s my place to say it:) But if you’re interested, it’s on YouTube, you can just search for it or go to this post I made. Fun fact: since it was his debut film, it credits him as he’s real name, Robert L. Leonard, I just find it amusing haha

Tape

It’s another type of film I don’t encounter that often, I enjoyed it, especially with Neil and Todd’s reunion lol. Rsl mentioned how he enjoyed it because it felt like doing a play, my first impression was that the structure is like a play, though the camera work made me quite dizzy haha. But the dialogues, the acting, I think it was quite spot on. Especially the human contradictions and hypocrisy side of it. The most people assume the baddie in the film is Jon the character rsl played and has a distaste for him. I mean how can anyone love a character who is accused of r*pe but to be honest, Vincent for me seemed just as problematic, both of them are hypocrites for sure in their own different ways but in the end we can’t be sure what’s really the truth or not. Before this was in ‘I mean it was fine” category, but I watched it again and now I want to retract my statement lol Still isn’t my fav but I noticed how delicately depicted each characters are, Mr and Mrs Bridge in particular. This film is alternatively about the changes in the young generation regarding liberty, feminism, free expression especially on sex. It’s in the perspective of the bridges, the mother and father who is old fashioned and conservative (as it was normal in their previous generation) and the children who are the young generation, and the misunderstanding and conflicts between them. After all it all happened not only because of the difference but also the lack of communication, which rsl emphasised in his interviews. I found it interesting that they made it seems like the Bridges truly existed with the video footage and (with the ending) describing what happened to each family member in text with photos. When I watched it at first I was really confused if it was based on a real life. I think what they wanted to suggest was that the Bridges every typical American family at the time. It was something everyone was going through. I said previously I didn’t get why Rsl’s character (the youngest in the Bridges) treated his mother so coldly. Honestly I do get why, but I guess I felt so bad so the mother haha

I was really fond of the premise of this film and I think it has great intention. It was specifically made to promote the awareness of illiteracy and how to get support. However, I don’t get the reason of Jack the protagonist’s illiteracy. Unless, it was common occurrence in America at the time, I feel like it’d have been more convincing if he was in poor family hood, so there was no time to learn at school due to working at young age...? I mean, just finding it hard to believe he passed the high school just like that, I mean the teachers or anyone should have noticed it, maybe I’m missing something here but it seemed unlikely to me.

Again, I liked the message, as it depicted how frightening and difficult job the ground controller is, by one mistake could take away the lives of hundreds, especially as someone who goes on planes a lot... I knew that this has split reviews but nonetheless I think worth to watch it, 1. Ethan and rsl re union, 2. Ethan is the directer of the film and rsl sing in it. Well, first of all, it had a lot of graphic things than I imagined, brutally murd*red bodies, execution, and r*pe scene, gosh I was strucken by it when I saw that, I had to skipped that scene. This is also based on a true event of a tragic accident in the us battleship in Iowa in 1989. They shows tragedy lin a blunt, brutal way by showing horribly damaged bodies of the soldiers torn into pieces, all the horrid things directly so be warned about that. I was quite alarmed because i didn’t expect to see it haha there’s no much to say. The film quality was so so for me. I feel their approach wasn’t appropriate, they were clearly trying to make it dramatic which is fine but in a melodramatic emotional way. It didn’t work because first, there aren’t enough portrayal of the characters for me to get attached, secondly it added the unnecessary exaggeration it prevented me from being emotionally involved or even to think about it. In my opinion, I think it’d have been better if they made it more restrained, dry, focus on the accuracy. For example like 1987 or Zodiac, I mean both of them has dramatic elements since they’re not a documentary but they were not overdone, in a contrary added emphasis to their message/conclusion. I know it’s easier said than done but it was something I consistently felt during it.

At least Standoff could be make fun of and rsl held gunssss but this...... I want to say so many things... I feel like they should have chose either fancy, fast paced, thrilling racing film or detailed depiction of emotions/relationships with the racers and people involved in it, I know both can be done, but I think that was outside of their ability, but since they tried to do that at once, it became a mess that doesn’t go either way. And the characters, any of them, including rsl’s are narrow or impossible to understand. I mean rsl did great himself, it was not about acting, the problem lies on the script and editing in my opinion. Also there were so many unnecessary characters made me question of their existence. Luckily rsl’s character isn’t one of them, however because of them, he had to squeeze in and unable to elaborate, which is a shame as he was an interesting character and someone rsl rarely plays; a arrogant and opportunist agent/brother of the protagonist, who would do anything for success... ha.... whyyyyy

Overall, I know I’m biased but I do like His filmography, I do have appreciations in every one of them in different way to the good ones to bad. So they might have had to write her out of a few scenes already in this episode, and it’s unknown what her availability will be for next episode. That could end up changing things a bit, so we’ll see. Maybe there will be a second fragman that gives us more context.

Now back to feeling drained by this storyline. I get you. I feel you. But here’s how you shake if off. Boil it down for yourself. Why do you continue to watch this show? I’m going to guess it’s for the same reason I continue to watch this show. Edser. Eda and Serkan are still magic together in every single scene, and Hande and Kerem’s chemistry can turn even the most turgid, ill-advised story or scene into gold. They are worth watching whether they are looking into each other’s eyes or reading the phone book.

So... my advice is to emotionally distance yourself from the plot. The plot is just the device to keep these two actors on screen together playing these two characters. And that sentence is truer for this show than for any other show I’ve ever watched (and I’ve watched A LOT of shows.) It’s all about these two characters and these two actors. So ultimately the plot doesn’t matter. Let the plot go. There is nothing to worry about, Edser is endgame, Edser is the reason this show exists, they are all the matters on this show. So knowing that, just enjoy their individual scenes, appreciate them for what they are and don’t tie yourself into knots over the nonsense these hack writers throw at us. It will all be fine in the end.

Selin fatigue is real!!!! But to be honest I was in Selin fatigue by ep 29. And it’s just gotten worse episode by episode. (though we had a bit of a reprieve from her in 34-35) but the fragman brought the fatigue back with a vengeance. The producer has tweeted before about how the show has to have drama, so, I guess that’s where we are. Drama. They think this is what sells, I guess?

They produce those fragman’s with the Fox viewer in Turkey in mind. So perhaps that’s the kind of tease that works well there? I have no idea. Honestly, I think they’re not worried about online fans and international fans because they know we’re so invested that we won’t give up.

Yes, we need to wait and see. I see no reason to go down this speculation path unless we’re forced to, because it seems very unlikely to me. Clear it from your mind, and then, if the worst happens, we’ll deal with it then, not now.

Yep, I follow sck news, who doesn’t? ;) I think this speculation is plausible, and as long as she’s upfront with Serkan about why and Serkan is able to shut it down immediately next ep, then I can live with this as a cliffhanger.

Here’s the problem with this, it’s not just him not caring about Eda. It’s him not caring about Serkan. He should have done it for Serkan, knowing that Serkan would regret his inaction the rest of his life. It costs him nothing to tell Eda at that moment and let her make the decision.

That’s one of my biggest problems with this cockamamie plot. From the first Fragman of 29, I said it was impossible that Selin could have hidden him away and rekindled her relationship with him because the other character wouldn’t allow it. Oh but they did. This storyline ruined pretty much every single supporting character, (outside of Melo) because otherwise, if they would have acted in-character or even like normal humans, it never would have worked. And that continued all the way up to this stupid fake/real wedding. Writers... if you have to ruin every supporting character to bend and twist and make it so your antagonist isn’t immediately jailed or carted away to a mental hospital, that is a sign that it doesn’t work and you need to go back to the drawing board.

Yes, they really do. I’ve also always thought that Neslihan looks like she could be Kerem’s mother, they have the same coloring. Evrim looks like she could be related to Hande. They have done a great job with that.

To be honest, the discourse didn’t affect my motivation to make HayaChi content hahah (it kinda propelled me to write out of spite tho hah). But yes, it’s about time I talk about Which Partner lol.

I still love Which Partner. It’s through that fic that I made many of my tumblr friends <33 and the fic itself is just really important to me.

BUT-

I don’t really... agree with the fic anymore. At least, not the 100k ish words I posted. Not because it’s bad, per se, even though it does have mildly problematic elements that I picked up from Miraculous Ladybug (and my immature view of romance). It’s a high school classmates to friends to lovers, romantic comedy, fantasy/action fic. It’s exactly something my 2018 self would love and write. But not what my 2021 self would enjoy enough to finish the entirety of the fic (since it’s 1/3 done now).

It’s not an issue with the ship or the fandoms, I just kinda grew out of shipping in general lol. (If anything, I’m growing more attached to HayaChi because it’s different from the fics I usually ship and they work well platonically lol.)

Which Partner’s writing style is the fluffy romcom blushy UwU style that I’ve used so many times that it’s practically muscle memory, and there’s nothing wrong with that style. It’s just not what I would want to write now. It’s not something I identify with now. And yes, I grew out of that style and that attitude towards romance, so my view on the HayaChi naturally dynamics changed.

So, what am I going to do with Which Partner?

Upon rereading the fic, I’ve realised that I currently view WP! HayaChi very, very differently from canon HayaChi. I can separate WP! HayaChi from canon HayaChi and continue with it merrily, but it’s not going to be how I would write canon HayaChi lmao.

... it would be fun to incorporate character + relationship growth in WP according to how I feel now, but the tone and continuity of WP is so established that changing it suddenly would feel... weird. And it won’t align with the original vision or sth.

But despite this whole relationship mumbo jumbo, I have some scenes that I desperately want to write even now. I’m just tired of the build up and the mutual pining.

And I’ll be frank: the fic has no plot. None. I tried making lore but it just doesn’t fit. The only plot is the love square. Who’s Kochou? A poorly written one dimensional villain with only a name to his character. (jk)

SO I think I’ll at least write the scenes I want to write. I’ll be skipping character arcs and plot points, so it won’t have as much of an impact as it should, but I sure as hell am not gonna ditch a fic without writing the scenes I started the fic for lol.

And if I do ditch it, I’ll post the fic outline. I think it’s only fair to anyone who’s still following it... although idk who still is lmao.

I’ll do something about it later when I have time lol. Maybe I’ll continue but with a drastic change. Maybe I’ll continue like how I wanted to in the beginning. Maybe I’ll just post the scenes I want to write. Maybe my views will have changed by the time I’m free. I don’t know.

Can you EVER. Ok bear with formatting here I'm on my phone.

I JUST finished one I HATED called The Unhoneymooners which started very promisingly: they hate each other but have to pretend they're married on an all-inclusive romantic trip to Maui. For Reasons. Unfortunately it turned out to be very nerdy (she swoons at him understanding a Harry Potter reference and I snorted out loud on the subway), and then he doesn't believe her when she tells him his shitty brother hit on her so they should not have gotten back together and I could not enjoy it.

The Worst Best Man does a more fun enemies-to-lovers and brief fake-dating (can't have one without the other) though it gets eye-rollingly heavy-handed about the way it deals with racism and sexism at times. Then again, I'm sure it's the entree for someone into thinking about those things so fine I guess.

Another one I hated, sorry, was Happily Ever Playlist which got SO stressful and real (...ish, there's still some very contrived miscommunications) about external forces keeping them apart that I was anxious while reading it and legitimately stressed when I thought about it for like a week after. Maybe that means it's more Art and less RomCom but oh my god I'm tearing up with stress just thinking about it. Anyways it’s about a widow and this hot musician guy she falls for when she finds his lost dog and at first it’s sweet and genuine and they really love and like each other but I cannot emphasize enough how relaxing it isn’t.

Headliners, on the other hand, and this is barely a spoiler, ALMOST does the obligatory conflict/misunderstanding and then just kind of...doesn't? Which was really relaxing although maybe not "technically" "good" "novel writing." It's a Lucy Parker which means it's about semi-celebrity hot Londoners who think they hate each other but actually just want to smash and find that out prettyyyyy quickly as soon as they're forced to hang out all the time For Reasons.

So you can guess how Pretty Face goes. In this case it's an actress and her director though so the thing is they...shouldn't date? You can just not kiss people even when you're attracted to them if you're in a position of authority. You can just not. Even if you're both hot and both enjoy like the same obscure Dickens novel or whatever.

Beach Read was chill and fun, semi-enemies to lovers, a little too much Dad Stuff for my taste. A woman who writes romantic novels and a man who writes gritty “real” novels try to write each other’s genres and spoiler alert learn about each other and develop great respect and affection in the process.

Don't You Forget About Me was mostly fun, again I love a "huge mess is eventually loved by someone who is very tidy and Together" story who knows why big mystery can't relate. This one DOES have an unnecessary sexual assault backstory. Like I just. Do romance novel authors not understand what disparate tones they're knitting together? Am I the problem? extremely the simpsons voice no it is the authors that are wrong.

I also Could Not Deal with The Ex Talk sorry I know you asked for recommendations and these still kind of are recommendations in that you should read them I'm just telling you the specific ways they were bad. Half the fun, really. Anyways this should have been good--radio personalities, fake-dating but with a twist (they're fake-exes) but was simply too sappy and earnest even for a me, a person who multiple people have come to associate with the gesture of bringing the tips of my fingers together and making kissing sounds as shorthand for everyone should kiss. Also, any story where a lot of the conflict is fame-related or like people-on-twitter-have-opinions-about-us related is not fun. For me PERSONALLY.

For that reason, I loved the start but hated the end of Love Lettering, about a woman who makes a living making fancy lettered planners for women in Park Slope (haha) and a guy who does...math things for work. It's really sweet and warm and then, again, stressful for publicity reasons.

Evie Drake Starts Over was a very...gentle book. There's love and sex and arguments and getting over trauma but it's all just very...gentle and soothing. I highly recommend as a nice little warm bath for your brain.

Ok I think that's all I've got for you right now. I've been trying to get into To Have And To Hoax but I can't yet for whatever reason.

tbh you’re probably right that it’s for the best that gossip girl didn’t touch dan/nate given the way the writers did, well... everything lmao. but! rewatching season 2 and i can’t help but want them to be boyfriends. 🥺 their tiny arc was so good!!! which leads me to the question: if the show WAS going to go there but still maintain its same escapist tone, how do you think the storyline might have gone? (best case, and like, realistic case lol)

haha, i KNOW. god, i know. and i think as the later seasons had everyone behaving weirdly, the dan & nate friendship remained pretty healthy and pure, and i also feel like chace and penn added something to the dynamic? forever thinking about that actors on actors interview of them both where they talk about how they enjoyed all the little scenes d&n had together.

i feel like d/n could never really have been an endgame ship, if they had been canon, just running off the general theme of like. how much this show always disappoints me dhsklkdfhg. ok but jokes aside, i think this is how it’d go...

after the derena/ nate & catherine stuff in the initial bit of s2 (ick) there would be no natessa/derena. once nate moves in with the humphreys, i think they would eventually start dating. there wouldn’t need to be much build up or slow burn. i think it’d be hilarious if chuck somehow was instrumental in this, because i remember nate & chuck fighting/ not being on good terms?

so, imagine chuck saying to nate, “why humdrum humphrey anyway? i could help you through whatever you’re going through, always have, always will ;) i know you nathaniel, your sense of pride and how you never want anyone to see you in a situation of weakness. what is it about humphrey that makes you want to play damsel in distress, to be saved by him? do you like him or something?” and nate would just be sarcastic/pissed off but the words would stay stuck in his head. meanwhile, jenny would find some of dan’s writing and call him aside and be like, ‘you left this notebook open - i swear i didn’t mean to read it i was looking for something else - and dan, i legit cannot tell if this love poem is for nate or serena?’ and dan would be like, ‘haha, serena, obviously, i’m super heterosexual, i��m the straightest man in all of new york, why would you ask,’ and jenny wouldn’t buy it, and dan also wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about it.

they’d get together eventually! it would happen in some hilarious way, i have no idea. they’d try and keep it quiet / off gossip girl, because of nate’s family ,but most of their friends would know. i feel like serena would be annoyed by it, in similar ways that she didn’t like dan/blair but her behaviour wouldn’t be as bad, and she would probably come around. vanessa too i feel would be initially jealous but she would come around quicker. i feel it would be genre wise totally in character to have some sort of chuck & blair try and break up dan & nate nonsense, and i don’t think it’d work.

rufus, i feel, would not like it, not for homophobic reasons, but, “son. you deserve to be with someone who is willing to be public with you. not someone who is treating you like a dirty little secret.” / “dad, it’s not like that.” / “i’m just worried that you’re making him your family and first priority, and he’s never going to choose you first.” / “nate loves me, dad, i can’t ask him to rock the boat with his family. you don’t understand.” etc etc.

i do think they would either break up in a similar way to the natessa breakup, but i also feel like dan would be more sympathetic to nate’s feeling of owing the family something, and not take it personally (again, i think vanessa was entirely justified in the way she responded to nate’s entire thing, i just feel like dan is a complacent little dude slkahfkldh). i was talking to liz about how im one day going to write a s3 date au in which nate is telling dan about how he’s going to date a republican to piss off his family and dan is like *judgemental look * you’d date a republican? and then he’s like. nate. if you want to piss off your family that badly, why don’t you just pretend to date me? and yeah, you can see where this is going.

so i think that’d be a fun thing to write re: them getting together, but i think here, this would be a perfect way to get them to break-up. nate is like, dan, what if we went public with my family, and dan is all like ‘omg really bro?’ and then he realises it’s nate’s idea to just cause a scandal, and he’s deeply hurt, because it’s like, ‘you basically just want to use your relationship with me, and well, essentially, use me to solve your problems? i thought we were doing this for us, nate, but clearly we’re doing this for you.’ and nate would be like, ‘that isn’t fair, i have to put my family first,’ and dan’s like ‘sure, you have to. when have they EVER put you first?’ and nate would be like, ‘it’s like how you love jenny more than me. family always comes first’ and dan would be like ‘how dare you compare jenny to those people’ etc etc etc basically it would get very nasty and i see them breaking up in s3.

s4 is another GAY season like i think it’d make sense if during the d/s/n love triangle nonsense & also just during the milo arc, we have them dating. i feel like the fact that we already have, in canon, dan basically telling nate first (and only nate) that he has a baby is... pretty gay. it’d be cool if juliet’s manipulation of nate (assuming there is a juliet) went along the lines of, ‘you’re still in love with dan humphrey, and you should give dating him another shot.’ so then the whole thing with serena feeling left out and all that is accomplished, and accomplished better than it would be with danessa/ julinate (haha, what a shipname.)

again, i don’t think they would ever be written as endgame, and i think they would break up again at some point, maybe because of the serena thing. this time wouldn’t be like the other time, because they both know serena is there and is maybe going to date one of them, maybe wants one of them more than the other. and serena was their dream girl at one point (maybe she no longer is.) and dan would definitely be insecure about this i feel because like - why would nate, or anyone really, date him when they could be dating serena? i feel like he’d probably sabotage their relationship on purpose, or something. i really feel like losing milo gives dan, like, the potential for some emotionally terrible life choices.

so, there we go! slots in with show canon reasonably well, i suppose. we still get our dair and everything else. that said! the way i feel about most of these characters most of the time is like. they do not deserve this show. i want to put them in other shows and movies. like. can you imagine serena in some kind of experimental indie coming of age leaving home roadtrip film? that would be SO good. we already talk about the romcom nature of d/b. i just feel like d/n was so... idk. they were such bros, i found it really sweet and fascinating that nate was able to bring out a side of dan that was so... informal? is the best word?

Sarumi in a Boarding School AU? Haha honestly im not sure why but I like the idea of Fushimi and Yata being roommates who dont get along but, in classic romcom fashion, a series of coincidences and mishaps causes them to see each other in a new way. And of course the best part: the pining after they get through their differences, because their friends now but suddenly they want to be more aaaa yes the kind of quality trash im always thirsting for haha

Fushimi probably gets sent to boarding school so Kisa doesn't have to deal with him, like say this is right after Niki's death but since Fushimi doesn't have a Yata to move in with (yet ;D) he's stuck in the house alone. Kisa doesn't particularly want to have to deal with him so she decides the easiest thing is to send him to a decent boarding school where he'll be out of her hair. Yata meanwhile also gets sent to school maybe to like make some more room in the house but also hopefully to better his education, like Yata's stepdad works with someone who runs the school and offers to take Yata in as a student free of charge. Yata's kinda been struggling in normal school and the apartment his family lives in is pretty cramped so his stepdad figures this would be a good idea, Yata's not super into it because he assumes all boarding school kids are stuck up snobs but he also wants to take some of the burden off his parents so he agrees.

Yata gets to the school and is shown his room, he's all excited to meet his roommate and become bestest best friends. Unfortunately for Yata his roommate is Fushimi, who's probably annoyed that Kisa couldn't even splurge to get him his own room. The minute Yata walks in Fushimi's pretty much like 'don't talk to me,' focusing solely on his computer and his PDA and basically having no interest in making friends whatsoever. Yata's not so easily defeated though and he keeps trying to get Fushimi to open up, which makes Fushimi more annoyed and he starts snapping at Yata and probably calling him by his first name (which is right on the doorplate outside their room). Yata can't believe that a whole school full of kids and he gets the number one asshole as his roommate.

The two of them end up in a bunch of classes together, though maybe Fushimi has like extra classes afterward that are for the accelerated group and he keeps ditching them because Fushimi has no interest in schools or teachers. Yata on the other hand is struggling to keep up, no one really seems to have any interest in making sure he's getting the extra help he needs and he probably doesn't get along well with many of the other kids either, like most of the kids in this school are wealthy and learned all kinds of social etiquette and no one has any interest in loud, wild Yata. Yata doesn't even notice at first that Fushimi's being ostracized too though, like at first a lot of kids want to get close to Fushimi because everyone knows who his mom is but then when they see Fushimi's got no interest in anyone people start to leave him alone or try to bully him.

One day Yata forgets something after class and has to go back and get it, which is when he sees some of the other students picking on Fushimi. Yata thought these guys were Fushimi's friends and he's really confused, which is when maybe one of the kids starts taunting Fushimi about his dead dad. Fushimi immediately reacts violently to that (for reasons entirely opposite of what Yata assumes), like headbutting the guy who said it and that sets off a fight. Yata comes running in to the fray, deciding screw this he's going to help Fushimi even if Fushimi is a jerk (like at least Fushimi is an honest jerk instead of pretending to like people or acting fake-nice just to tease someone). The teachers eventually break the whole thing up and the other kids point fingers at Fushimi and Yata, Yata's like wait you guys started it but the teacher also assumes that Fushimi and Yata are troublemakers and they get detention together.

Yata's pissed at being put in detention for this, like he and Fushimi are left alone together in a room and told to write apology letters or something. Yata wonders out loud what he should write, like he's not sorry and those guys were out of line taunting Fushimi about his parents. Fushimi shrugs as he gets up, saying he doesn't care about his parents anyway and everyone here is worthless. As Yata watches Fushimi moves aside some books and starts to climb out this hidden window that he found a few days ago, Yata follows him and immediately thinks it's super cool that Fushimi found a way to sneak out of detention. At first Fushimi starts to tell Yata not to follow him but Yata's looking at him with shining eyes and finally Fushimi clicks his tongue and is like 'if you want to follow, come on.' The two of them spend the whole afternoon hanging out and dodging teachers before sneaking back into the detention room right before their time is up, afterward they go back to their room and Yata's just bubbling over with excitement and calling Fushimi amazing and Fushimi finds himself feeling suddenly lighter than he ever has before.

So now the two of them have become inseparable and they're probably total troublemakers, Fushimi getting Yata into all sorts of bad habits and Yata doesn't care because Saruhiko is the most amazing guy he's ever met. He knows though that the two of them are different and sometimes it makes him worried, like imagine they go home for summer holidays at one point and Yata thinks about how Fushimi's going back to some rich family while Yata's headed back to this crowded apartment. But then when they return to school Yata can tell that Fushimi's suddenly acting all distant and cold again, like something terrible happened when he was home and it makes Yata wonder what kind of life Fushimi has at home and is there a way Yata can protect him from everything. This then leads to the realization of how important Fushimi is to him and Yata starts becoming more and more aware of how physically close they are all the time. Fushimi meanwhile hates his family and wants nothing more than to stay with Yata but he also thinks that there's no way this can continue, like he knows Kisa can take him out of school at any time to use as like a pawn for his inheritance and such and he can't stand that idea, that he might have to leave and never see Yata again. Fushimi's also starting to feel emotions that he can't even recognize, like he has no idea what this warm feeling is in his cheeks every time Yata gets too close or why his gaze keeps lingering on Yata all the time when Yata's not looking and he's basically just got this huge crush and doesn’t know what to do with it.
