Here’s a rough idea of the mountain na’vi. Played around with shade variation too. Need to come up with a name.
I think their homes would be either built into the mountain ranges, or in the canopy’s of the trees high up away from the predators of the jungle. And their source of food would come from the rivers or lakes inside the valleys. They would fish and are excellent swimmers and weave through the vines. They’re able to adapt to land and water very well. They tame the cloaked panthers since they can leap off cliffs and fly like sugar gliders. This isn’t accurate because I know they live in upper plains of the western frontier but please let me have this!😭🤣

...Something's kinda hitting me, guys. I think something just clicked.
So we all know that BB!DOTC is the arc I'm not staying faithful to, right? A lot of characters are getting total overhauls? I'd actually been dancing pretty heavily around the pro-colonialism themes in the original text, simply because I don't really feel comfortable handling them (same with certain sexual themes, it's not great for my mental health to force myself to engage with certain elements that are triggering)
So I'd made it so there was Park Cats (Wind Coalition and River Kingdom) who arrived relatively recently, and Tribe Cats (Sky's Clan, Shadow's Clan) who nestle into an unclaimed spot in the forest. All groups roughly equal in power until Thunder's Clan which was existing in defiance.
But Clanmew isn't JUST comprised of Parkmew and Tribemew-- there's a third contributor. Old Townmew, which mixes with Parkmew and forms Middle Townmew, mixing again with Clanmew to create Modern Townmew.
Since I'm now really thinking about the colonialism themes, especially in my re-read where it starts reaching its narrative conclusion in Books 5 and 6... I think I need to add that 3rd cultural group. I need to make them a player. I think I'm doing a serious disservice by only having the Park Cats, Tribe Cats, and then saying all others mostly lived in the town.
I'm gonna do a BB!Brokenstar with Slash. Previously I'd just cut him completely-- but I think I should, instead, walk him back from being "Pure Evil" like he is in-canon and make him into a real character.
One Eye's a god drawn to the festering stink and rot of the First Battle; Slash is a mortal, leading a group like any other in the Forest Territories.
I think I'm also going to significantly bump up the time the Park Cats have been in this territory. Slash and his cats have been fighting them for years, and until the Mountain Cat influx, were basically spread through most of the Forest.

What makes the Singing Mountain Clan so different?
They don’t share the markings, traditions or way of life the Nightsisters are well known for.
We first see Morgan’s markings disappear at the loss of the coven, as the markings are a result of channeling the Fanged god, aka The Son of Mortis. Working with the dark side was so powerful it created bruisings around the eyes. In other clans these markings were frowned upon, but the Nightbrothers honored them through the traditional tattoos. The Mountain Clan did not work with the fanged God since they had no markings and since they didn’t wield the green Spirit Ichor magick it’s proof they didn’t work with The Winged Goddess either as the mist was a result from her domain. From observation they are more animist in nature, meaning they work with the spirits of the land rather then Polytheism, where you worship gods. Though both cultures honored the light, dark, spirits and ancestors, all of the clans are different across the world in how they go about in doing so. This is why you see The Elders magick white instead of green. This clan was far more peaceful then The Nightsister Coven as even their use of local flora is evidence: the same herbs used for healing in the mountains, is used in baneful workings with the Nightsisters. Even their clothings represent where their devotion lies. Nightsisters wear red showing their ties to the dark side, while the other clan wears white to represent the light. The similarities between the Sith and Jedi is stark when Morgan begins to quote the Sith code and just like the Jedi, if they stayed true to their peaceful ways without fear ruling them, then the girls would have lived. Even as the clan mother lost her child she offered Morgan pity for choosing the path of fear, darkness and revenge. The lack of control was what set her on the quest for power.
There seems to be hints both clans were at odds at least at some point in history like in legends. Both Mother Shamans of clans had the abilities to see into the future, yet both didn’t see the destruction coming. The question is, if they did, would the Mountain Clan helped? Or at the very least warned them? The Clan mother saw what Morgan was capable of, yet showed her hospitality and gave her a chance despite her influence on the other young. It was very beautiful to see the Nightsisters of Dathomir in a new light. They are the most interesting & power beings in Star Wars and I’m glad they are getting the screen time and love they deserve. Props to the creators for adding so much lore into their magick as it is so fun to pick a part as a fellow Witch.

Hello and happy new year! I had another question for you, an aspect of marriages in Westeros that I feel unsure about: do you think that in the North, marrying someone from one of the mountain clans would be considered less “prestigious” than someone from a more traditional (for lack of a better word) house? And as far as I can tell, it seems that different branches of House Flint aren’t necessarily described as all being mountain clans, although Arya Flint was from the mountain clan branch?
Do I think there could potentially be some level of snobbery from one or more of the noble families of the North toward the northern mountain clans, and specifically marriage with them? Possibly. While the severe disappointment and alienation experienced by Lynesse Hightower after returning with Jorah to Bear Island was certainly exacerbated by her culture shock after leaving the heart of southron, specifically Reacher, urban society, even some of the mountain clans’ fellow northern nobles might find life in the northwestern hills quite a bit different from their daily experiences. The lack of aristocratic finery characteristic of the mountain clans - no major cities or towns, no lordly titles, no chivalric tourneys, only “small and rude” castles - combined with the hardscrabble existence in these areas may strike northern families like, say, the southron and city-minded Manderlys or even the quasi-chivalric Dustins of prominent Barrowton as crude and strange, which in turn could extend to the families living in the hills. The Norreys, Wulls, Harclays, and their neighbors are as much vassals of Winterfell as any of the other families in the North, but their relative isolation and absence of aristocratic splendor may influence those other families to see such clans as somewhat strange, especially as potential marriage partners. Needless to say as well, daughters of the northern mountain clans would likely bring little in the way of liquid wealth, and perhaps not valuable land either, to serve as a tempting dowry for a non-clan House.
However, do I think that such an attitude is probably hugely prevalent across the North as a land and (sometime) kingdom? Probably not. No one, so far as we know, lambasted Cregan Stark for marrying Arra Norrey, nor Rodrik Stark for marrying Arya Flint. The historical closeness, both physical and politico-dynastic, between the Starks and the northern mountain clans likely, I think, limits the extent to which other northern families sneer at the mountain clans as fellow, equal aristocrats, including for the purposes of marriage. Likewise, while some families in the North might style themselves along the lines of southron noble Houses, and so distinguish themselves to some extent from the mountain clans, other families would probably find the lives of, say, the Wulls or Burleys much like their own; indeed, I speculated before that Mormont sons and daughters, used to the hardened and rustic existence of Bear Island, may regularly intermarry with daughters and sons of the mountain clans. Plus, the question of intermarriage between hill clan families and other northern families may simply not come up very often, given the relative separation of the northwestern hills and their residents from the rest of the North: both Bran and Jon allude to the fact that the mountain clan families tend to keep to themselves (apart from their trips to pay homage to Lord Stark, or when they have important business elsewhere). So a family like, say, the Hornwoods or the Karstarks or Lockes may simply not find the clan families as obvious a choice for dynastic marriage alliances as some closer neighbors.
As far as the mountain Flints go, Jon provides the answer on that family tree in ADWD:
It was a tale that any northmen knew well. "My father's grandmother was a Flint of the mountains, on his mother's side," Jon told her. "The First Flints, they call themselves. They say the other Flints are the blood of younger sons, who had to leave the mountains to find food and land and wives.["]

More mountain na’vi edits
I’m thinking the name for the clan would be Nìwan. It means “in hiding” “secretly” etc. idk if I wanted to do something that was a legit translation or just pull something out of my ass and have fun. I’m still playing around with ideas. Also I might make their skin a darker ashier blue. Or maybe even teal?

"Now, what's the best way to get down to the ruins. Do we have to walk?"
"Yes. That is, unless you wish to try riding a rancor beast. They suffer the sisters to ride them. To my knowledge no man has ever tried... successfully." Magash smiled.
