Busy few weeks w my business, Uni work, work, meeting up with lecturers, meeting up with friends…. And welcoming autumn! Saw my family too, which was nice. Good to see them. I always find it’s easier after some distance and time apart… cherish the moments even more. Autumn truly is here though ~ the temperature feels like it’s really dropped! Personally, it’s my favourite season😌🍂Sending cosy love to you all xx
Went out looking for mushrooms and some fresh dirt for Maximillian the millipede and found this smol friend...
A California slender salamander: Batrachoseps attenuatus
Yes, I was very very tempted to take smol friend home with me, but finding the right food for them is tricky. They eat tiny bugs like ants and such.
Also found this super smol friend
Super smol did come home with me...
You'd be amazed what you can find underneath logs and pieces of wood or bark. Just remenber to be gentle and turn them back over. We wouldn't want Mother Nature thinking we are mannerless heathens now would we?
It probably says a lot about me that when cleaning my room I need a bag for "shit I shouldn't have brought inside in the first place." IE: pinecones, rocks, sticks, scrap metal thats too small to actually be useful, and other such things that I guess I thought were cool at the time but upon further inspection actually aren't, that can be returned to approximately where I found them
Spotted the owlet in a different tree, a huge oak, but didn't see it's parents. I found one of it's parents in a tree opposite the oak, but only because another bird made a knocking sound. Turned around to see the Raven! I don't really know if the Raven was antagonizing the owls or just sharing a tree. But it got me thinking about the snail shells I found. The snail shells could easily been Raven food. So I'm wondering about the association between the Raven and Owls. The crows do antangonize the Raven every chance they get, so I don't think it likely the Raven and crows would be friendly to each other. I'm wondering if the Raven and the Owls have a small alliance with each other...
So now I'm going to bring binoculars with me and a better camera, because my phone cam just dosen't do them any justice.
But here are some more bad photos of aweosme owls in awesome trees:
