I want to buy a sticker from your shop, but shipping (to Canada) is down as $22 before tax. May I ask why it costs so much to ship a single sticker? Is it Etsy being weird, or does it really cost that much to send an envelope over the border?
I'm not trying to be snarky or passive aggressive or anything, I'm genuinely just kind of befuddled atm.
A fair question honestly! USPS sets the rates for international shipping, and shipping to canada really is about that expensive 😭 I considered sending stickers via envelopes, but 1. if I send them with a stamp (less than $2) they don't have tracking, and etsy Does Not Like That. I gotta send packages with shipping to qualify for star seller, plus it covers your ass in case USPS loses it. and 2. apparently it's illegal to send merchandise internationally in envelopes!! so sadly we're all stuck dealing with the super crazy international rates. I don't like it either because as someone who deals in trinkets, people generally do not want to pay $16 for a charm that costs $12, and they especially don't want to pay that for a sticker that costs $4... I would ABSOLUTELY have way more international sales if USPS wasn't fucking us with the prices but it's out of my control dssdjkfjksdf
I give this advice a lot, but if you don't want to pay international shipping (or just live in a country I don't ship to myself), you can borrow the address of a friend that lives in the states and they can forward it to you! I don't actually know if this is cheaper, but some people have said it is. it's def cheaper for stickers though if your friend uses a stamp!
TL;DR yeah etsy and USPS are Both Weird, sorry ; - ; i assure you i hate it even More than you do lmao

Why Mileven is just not healthy (not about byler)
If you want to ship Mileven, go ahead. They’re cute, i get it. But you cannot sit here and tell me that canonically they have a healthy and happy relationship. You cannot tell me they are meant to be. Here’s why (without me mentioning byler AT ALL)
1. Eleven was literally trapped in a lab and traumatized for her ENTIRE life. from the moment she was born to when she was about 12, she was stuck in this lab. She had no real concept of family, friends, or relationships. She had no real concept of how the world worked.
2. Ben is the first instance of safety that she’s ever experienced, and he gets shot by the people who had her trapped.
3. Mike is the very second instance of safety, and her FIRST look into love. After Mike let’s her in his basement, he is now her main source of safety. He is becoming her comfort because he is NICE and he is CARING. yet behind the scenes, he’s agreeing to send her to a mental hospital where he thinks she escaped from…
4. Mike consistently is back and forth on El the whole time they’re looking for Will. One minute he trusts her and the next he’s asking “what’s wrong with you?” and “why did you lie?”. He parallels Brenner in s1 (and more throughout the show)
5. El was literally gone for almost all of s2. Mike cared a bit, yeah, but he was mostly focused on Will.
6. S3 is where they go even further downhill, its the first look we get into their actual relationship, and it’s literally all just making out and isolating from their friends. I get it, they’re like 13, but really? Look at Lumax. Lumax can easily navigate their relationship and friendships.
7. El is becoming her own person when she’s hanging out with Max, Max is encouraging her to be herself and find things SHE likes. Mike doesn’t like this, and consistently claims that Max is corrupting her.
8. Mike literally couldn’t care less when El dumped his ass. Look at his face. yeah i know he went and was asking how to fix it blah blah blah, but srsly? he just let her run away. (i said i wouldn’t mention byler but he literally biked across town in the rain to apologize to Will so we know he’s capable of apologizing on his own)
9. Mike might say “i love her and i can’t lose her again”, but what does he do when he finds out El heard it? He lies. “i don’t remember what i said”. She tells him she loves him too and kissed him, he stands there with his eyes wide open. He looks shocked. When she walks out he’s still staring, he looks like he just realized he fucked up.
10. S4, Mike can’t even write “I love you” to El. If he loved her, like he said in s3, why wouldn’t he be able to even write it?
11. My absolute favorite, the way the two of them cannot be themselves with each other. El is lying in her letters to Mike. She doesn’t have friends, she’s not doing good in California. She needs to make up new interesting things about herself because she lost her powers, and she thinks Mike only likes her for her powers. (she thinks everyone only likes her for her powers, it’s how she was raised) Mike is dressing up like some dad going to hawaii on vacation, and pretending he’s not some huge nerd because El never showed interest in his nerdy side. (in his true self).
12. Mike has another parallel with Brenner after he sees what El did to Angela with the roller skate. This reinforces El’s idea that Mike is scared of her, and only likes her when she’s using her powers to defeat monsters.
13. Mike and El argue about Mike not being able to say he loves her, and He is so insistent he does but will not say the words. Not even while she’s sobbing to him over it. He says she’s blowing it out of proportion. He tells her she’s a superhero, and she says “not anymore”
14. El writes that she’s gone to become a superhero again, this is the first time she doesn’t write love.
15. El’s entire time at area 11 and in NINA is her learning she has the power to control her own life. She can be who she wants to be, she can find her own identity. She is not a superhero. She is not a monster. She is Jane Hopper.
16. Mike’s monologue was nothing that El wanted to hear. It was so hypocritical. From the fact that Will was the one who had to urge him to say anything while she was dying, to the fact that he called her a superhero ONCE AGAIN. we can infer from earlier she does NOT want to be considered a superhero. she wants to be her own person, separate from her powers. that’s what she’s learned this entire season. Mike also says he loved her the moment they saw her, that his life started that day they found her in the woods. That is simply not true at all. If Mike had fallen in love at first sight, he would’ve never considered sending her to Pennhurst. If Mike’s life had started that day, he wouldn’t have been so easy to let her go when they saw the fake body get pulled out of the quarry. Even Lucas was telling him to lay off her in that moment, LUCAS. The guy who was the only one with real logical thinking the entire first season. He didn’t trust El from the beginning, but even he knew Mike was going overboard.
Let’s draw my conclusion from these little notes of everything i’ve written. El is traumatized. She is still figuring herself out and realizing what is friendship, what is family, and what is love. She didn’t know any better, so she got with Mike because she thought that because they kissed and he cares for her, that it’s romantic love. Mike, on the surface level (because i’m not talking about byler) got with El because she was the FIRST girl that ever showed interest in him, Lucas said it himself in season 1. Mike is canonically insecure about himself and he latched on to the first girl that liked him. Mike needs to feel needed, and he needs to know that someone loves him for who he TRULY is. El doesn’t want to need anyone. she wants to be independent and have family and friends. They just don’t fit together, they can’t support each other’s needs. With El’s character arc this season, mileven being endgame would be an assassination on her character.

Watch "Shinedown - Second Chance (Official Video) [HD]" on YouTube
youtube
My husband is Riddick and that's what they call him and it's the max and Jesus is the young guy in fast and furious. In this video the same concept I'm Hera to say goodbye to me and I went off hiding and they say Jesus wants to go to Venus the max planned all of this and it all makes sense and then the machinations do make sense and the components but they have underestimated many of the things that are going to happen firstly Dave and his brother are fighting for real and they don't think so and secondly they don't understand how many ships are up there and computers in their fleet is abysmally small and weak by comparison they need these Stone chips and they're going out in a half-assed way using their marshmallows up front and doing nothing and it won't work that way they go in and they hit a teeny bit of them and they take nothing where is the max went in and hit so far in the area of the size of Africa 8 miles deep. We hit an area that's almost three continents but he has an area of the size of the United States plus 3/4 and he's using ships and he's going to abandon Earth and threaten it and may have taken over JC plan and people are saying it's true they see humans on the death Star but that would also be the plan of JC because he's not revived yet and the computer is going on its own program which JC came up with to cover up what he's doing and the key to get into these computers is the creator and that's what they call the programmers who made them.
Hera
Zues
Everything fits in with the max plan and it's hard to tell them that they're off course and that they don't know what they're doing and that they're kind of weak they're going to figure it out pretty soon that they need these ships and they don't need Tommy F in them at all and it's not a great component even though he'd be aggressively going after the AI and they do need that he's still a slob and would not be able to compete just like the warlock can't compete with him and is no joke these people could mess it up and we don't want them to and the max think that too and it's going to be a fight and we're tired of watching their shows I'm tired of them yelling at each other we're tired of the b**** fest and the ass talk and the loser exciting people we're sick and tired of seeing them having fits and when both are wrong and what they're doing stupid is exhaustingly ridiculous
Thor Freya
We're going to do away with them we need them out of the way they're idiocy is idiocy it's terrifyingly bad there's a whole bunch of them and they're getting very small very quick. On the west they're from 3% down to about 2% in the East there about 0.5% in Florida tomorrow we expect them to shrink and Sunday we're down to between two days from about 3% today they're going to shrink down to about 1% or after the weekend they'll be that small here in Florida they're trying to screw around with everyone and force their way into apartments and condos and displaced people and they're losing bad and they're getting shot. The cramped into mostly the houses and people are pulling them out a lot of them tons of evacuations no but a lot of leaving and today 10 houses went out and they are down to 110 and they have not returned yet and they're still not doing anything yet there is a force arranging itself right now there's more happening but it's very late there's a war on in California the max began advancing again because the warlock won't stop they're going towards Los Angeles and will be there in 1 hour and we'll encapsulate the place and they're down to 2% they may be down to 1% by the end of the night and that is of the general population throughout the Earth they're losing huge numbers the Midwest and upper Midwest about 1% of the population the Eastern continent is probably about 2% of the population and another 1% in the southern hemisphere of the western hemisphere and on the island they were 10% between both now they're seven shrinking fast that's a very low mac daddy is down to 1% globally and the infighting of madness and the clones are shrinking they are 5% of the Earth's population but on top of it and there's a joint after going on going after the remaining basis due to the ships and Intel and we expect them to be cut in half well they'll be left with is an area of 3/4 of the size of the states but it is about 8 Miles high and bunkers the whole entire thing just that area alone is twice as big as all of the sdom them was at the biggest on the surface including bunkers but it's firstly populated and it's not full of gear or ammo or ordinance and it's emptying and it's sad but really they think they're going to the ships because they are and they're going to be out of people before they're out of ships and we think that's what happens. By the time they reach the Midwest level which is down at the Middle East and it's down to China they will be lower than 2% We Believe and it's still big enough to take those ships but small enough other groups can beat them

G19  - GLOCK 19 - Glock 19 gen 4 - Glock 19 gen 5 - Glock 19 for sale - Glock 19 price
Tumblr media
The all-round talent The GLOCK 19 in 9 mm Luger is ideal for a versatile role thanks to its reduced dimensions when compared to the standard sized option. In addition to its use as a conventional service pistol, it is ideal for use as a backup weapon or for concealed carry purpose. The Mid-Size or Compact Glock 19 9mm is ideal for many uses due to its low dimensions compared to a standard pistol size. The Glock 19 is known as the balanced and comfortably sized Glock. Because of this, the Glock 19 is the most popular handgun in the USA. Please Note: US Made or "US" Models cannot be purchased in California. Guns must be shipped via Fedex Overnight, to your chosen FFL. This is a flat rate, the charge is $40. Looking for something a little more advanced? Want to take shooting Fast and Accurate to the next level… out of the box?! Now you can buy the GS Optiquipped package at a huge discount. We milled the slide of the new Glock handgun for the Holosun 507K optic and installed the optic so it was ready to go. No waiting, no extra shipping and you can save a lot of money. Click Here Glockstore.com has milled over 4,000 slides for Glock owners nationwide at our new facility in Nashville, TN, and we turn them around in 10 days or less. If you already own a Glock and would like to grind the slide for an optic, we would be honored to assist you. Click Herev Magazine Well There’s not much of a magazine well or a flare on the well with the Gen3 and Gen4 guns, but the Glock 17 and Glock 19 Gen5 guns have an excellent, really large magazine well in the bottom of the gun. If you’re running the gun in a competition like USPSA, shooting a division like Carry Optics, or in a production where you can’t add an aftermarket magazine well to the gun, then this large mag well is a great factory asset. It’s really nice to have a large magazine well in the gun already without having to add an aftermarket option that adds more bulk and weight to the gun.
Glock 17 vs 19 Quality
Tumblr media
These guns are both Glocks and are all of similar quality. I do think the quality on the Gen 5 has been upped a little bit. The polymer on the Gen 3 guns doesn’t seem as good as that of the Gen 4, and the Gen 4 guns don’t seem quite as good as the Gen 5. I think Glock has been slowly and incrementally improving in the quality of some of their components.
Glock 17 vs 19 Aftermarket
When it comes to the aftermarket, both of these guns have an extremely large aftermarket, but the Glock 19 has a few more options than the 17. There are multiple companies making aftermarket frames for both of these guns, but there are way more making them for the 19 and just a lot more support for the Glock 19 overall.  There are companies that don’t even make holsters for the Glock 17, for example, while there are almost no companies out there that don’t make a Glock 19 holster. You have the same type of components made for both of these guns on the aftermarket, but there are a lot more offerings for each component for the Glock 19 vs. the Glock 17. A lot of the parts are interchangeable between the two guns, which means that the offerings are identical there.
Aesthetics
Tumblr media
Personally, I think both of these guns are very good-looking guns and look almost identical from a proportional standpoint. The Glock 17 has a slightly-longer barrel, slide, and grip compared to the 19. I think the 19 is a little more attractive because it seems more balanced, but the Glock 17’s still a good-looking gun. Neither of these guns are showstoppers, but both are reasonably attractive.
Shooting
Shooting the Glock 17 vs 19 is going to be pretty similar. The Glock 17 is just an oversized version of the 19 — a slightly-shrunken 17, depending on how you look at it. Assuming your hands are of the right size to fit, all of your fingers will fit on the Glock 19. You’re not going to get any extra leverage or recoil control on the 17 from the grip link, but there is a bit of difference in how the longer slide affects shooting. The Glock 17 seems to have a slightly slower cyclic rate and the slide itself has a little more muzzle rise due to the increased mass. This means the shooter’s actually going to feel slightly less recoil with the Glock 17 vs. 19. The Glock 19, on the other hand, because of its faster cyclic rate, seems to shoot a little flatter, but imparts more vibrations into the shooter’s hand.  GLOCKTM airguns and GLOCKTM airsoft guns come in a variety of sizes and styles and each GLOCK pistol offered here at Umarex USA is an Officially Licensed Product of GLOCK. That's why no matter which GLOCK replica airgun or airsoft gun you choose you'll know you're getting a GLOCK air gun that's genuine. Choose from a CO2 BB gun pistol, or a green gas powered airsoft GLOCK, or an airsoft gun that uses CO2 to shoot 6mm airsoft BBs. Glock Airsoft Pistols are a very popular model of air pistols, with many variations including the Glock 19 Airsoft Pistol Gen 3/Gen 4, Airsoft Glock 17 in Gen 3/ Gen 4/Gen 5, Airsoft Glock 18c with Full-Auto Mode, the military-oriented Glock 19X airsoft pistol, the long-range Glock 34 airsoft pistol, the Glock 42 airsoft pistol, and the Glock 45 airsoft pistol beautiful. If you are looking for an authentic Glock airsoft pistol with all the features, choose an Umarex Glock pistol. The Umarex Glock pistols come in green gas and CO2 versions, along with some Glock airsoft pistols and others that have models. For training, we recommend the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 3 Airsoft Pistol by GHK. We also carry a selection of Glock airsoft variants and standard pistols based on the Glock platform, including the Agency Arms Glock 17 EXA. Read our top picks for Best Glock Airsoft Pistol. Glock 19 is effectively a reduced-size Glock 17; it is called the "Compact" by the manufacturer. The Glock 19 has a shorter barrel (by about half an inch) and pistol grip compared to the Glock 17. Since it is a smaller gun, it is more popular for concealed-carry uses. Both these semi-automatic pistols use 9mm cartridges and were designed by Gaston Glock. Another advantage of Glock 19 pistols is that they are compatible with Glock 17 magazines but Glock 19 magazines cannot be used in a Glock 17 pistol. The Glock 26 is even smaller than the Glock 19 and is compatible with both Glock 19 and Glock 17 magazines. However, Glock 26 magazines cannot be used with Glock 19 or Glock 17. Both of these guns function identically in terms of how their frames are set up. Depending on the generation of Glock you have, modularity builds will differ. Gens 3, 4, and 5 are still in current production, so we’ll cover all of those.  The Gen3 grip tends to be much larger and has no modularity whatsoever. It also includes finger grooves. The Gen4 has finger grooves but it also includes four backstraps, two of which have no beavertail and two of which do have beavertails built into the backstraps. These backstraps’ primary feature involves changing the length of pull (trigger reach) for the shooter. If you have larger hands, these can be very advantageous. The Gen5 Glock has an identical setup to the Gen4 save for the finger grooves on either the Glock 17 or 19. Overall, these guns feel identical in the hand when you’re holding them. The difference is going to come down to the grip length. I myself have medium-to-large hands that are about average for somebody around six feet tall and I can get my hand fully on the Glock 19.  Somebody with slightly larger hands may not be able to get a complete grip with their pinky fully on the grip of the Glock 19 while they should be able to with the Glock 17. The pinky is the strongest finger in the hand when it comes to controlling recoil, so it has the most leverage. You’re going to want to get as much leverage on the gun as possible, so this is something I would consider when you’re trying out the gun. Glock 17 vs 19 Texture
Tumblr media
Again, your texture options are going to be identical between all of these guns.  If you’re looking at the Gen 3 Glock, most of them have a very slick finish that is not that good. Some Gen 3 Glocks also shift with the RTF2 finish, which is a little bit rare, but that finish is arguably the best texturing that has ever been offered on a handgun. It’s very aggressive yet is still comfortable to carry concealed. Glock did an excellent job with that and I hate to see that they’ve discontinued it.  The Gen4 Glock’s texturing is not quite as aggressive as what the Gen5 has, but it’s much more aggressive than the Gen3’s. It’s good enough, but it’s not great. I really wish it was more aggressive. The texture on the Glock Gen 5 is probably one of the gold standards in the concealed-carry handgun industry. Is it as good as something like the texturing on the CZ P-10C? In my opinion, no, but it is dang close. The texturing is not aggressive enough that you can carry it without any discomfort, but it’s aggressive enough when you’re shooting you won’t have any problems hanging onto the gun as long as you have a tight grip. It does a good job of locking your hand in, but it’s not uncomfortable to use over time. Slide
Tumblr media
The slides on all these Glocks are identical. You might have some variations that have forward-cocking serrations, but the depth of the serrations themselves remain consistent across all models and variations, making the slides somewhat marginal. I really like aftermarket slides that have a lot more aggressive serrations. This is an area I really wish Glock had improved upon as it would not be an expensive change to make these guns. They’d just have to go with a slightly deeper and more aggressive cut.
Glock 17 vs 19 Sights
Tumblr media
Stock Again, these Glocks are all going to come with similar sight options. All of them are available from the factory with plastic slot fillers, which we most commonly see and know as Glock sights. These are horrible and you’re best off to replace them right out of the box if your gun has them.  We’re fortunate now that Glock offers most of these guns with center Glock night sights, which are made by Meprolight and are usable but not that great. They also offer excellent AmeriGlo sights that feature a bright orange front sight with a tritium vial in the center and the square-notch AmeriGlo blacked-out rear sights with tritium vials on each side of the notch. There are still 3-dot night sights, but they have excellent front sight and a blacked-out rear that really makes for a nice sight picture during daylight hours. Aftermarket These guys all use the same aftermarket sights, so you’re going to have the same amount of options for them both. There are some really great sights out there — if you can’t find sights that you like for the Glock 19 or Glock 17, then you’re not going to find sights you like for any handgun. Glock 17 vs 19 Red-Dot Optics Glock has the MOS (modular optic system) offered on the 17 and the 19 in both Gen4 and Gen5. These optics-mounting systems include a series of plates that will work with pretty much every handgun optic on the market, and if it doesn’t work, there’s somebody out there that makes an aftermarket plate for it.  Read the full article

Fix it’s for Teen Wolf
I can think of a few things that would have made Teen Wolf better.
1.  I wanted more focus on Scott’s emotional response to what happened to him.  I don’t mind that Scott isn’t the type who complains about getting hurt. The problem for me was that the show rarely dealt with the consequences of Scott’s pain, and thus to the casual viewer often made it look like he simply didn’t mind, that being hurt didn’t bother him at all. Or worse, that nothing all that bad had happened in the first place.
Doing this undermined many of the hallucination scenes.  For example, in Season 2’s Party Guessed, we get hallucinations for Stiles, Jackson, and Allison which give us a view into psychology, letting us know their issues without spelling them out.  For Scott, we got Allison making out with kanima Jackson.   Compared to the others, it felt shallow and confusing.  The writers couldn’t even bother to give us dialog.  He received the same treatment in Season 5, when they read the book designed to trigger their memories about the Dread Doctors. Stiles gets yet another scene about his dead mother who has been crucial to his story since Season 1.  Lydia sees her grandmother and her connection to both Lydia’s powers and Eichen House, as well as foreshadowing her treatment at the hands of Valack.   Malia about her Mom and sister’s death at the hands of the Desert Wolf, which is her entire arc.  And Scott?  He gets a nightmare about a dog that was never mentioned before and would not be mentioned after.
Tumblr media
 2. I wanted more focus on Scott’s trauma in general. In Season 1, Scott was repeatedly mentally and physically violated by Peter, terrorized and abused by Derek, and hunted by the Argents, and it was taken as a given.   Even the recaps at the beginning episodes in other seasons barely show any of that.  For example, Gerard attacking Scott in clear view at the hospital, stabbing him, and threatening his mother, never appeared in any of the recaps, even in episodes where it would have been important to remind the viewers about it.
While the show had no issue showing us over and over again how Stiles or Derek or Isaac or Allison or any white character really was hurt, they did not focus on the pain Scott was put through, and thus let the viewers conclude that those events didn’t matter.
The show literally had Scott try and kill himself, twice in less than two days, first in Frayed, by refusing to let himself heal, and then again in Motel California, yet neither of those suicide attempts are mentioned even once afterwards. And this while it would have been a good call back in s5b, when Scott is once again not letting himself heal after Theo killed him. and yet again, no mention whatsoever.
 3. I wanted more consequences for certain characters.   I liked that Scott and to a lesser extent Derek were confronted with the consequences of their actions. When they screwed up, they got called out on it. When they did something wrong, it wasn’t excused.  Then they made up for it.
In contrast, certain characters, especially Stiles, got to do whatever they wanted and it was either dismissed as funny or used to make them look sympathetic.  Stiles got to be mean and cruel, and the narrative still treated him as if he were the best friend ever.  He got to assault people, hurt them, and it was treated as if somehow he was the victim.
For example, I would have liked Stiles a lot better, if when he tortured Scott with lacrosse balls, punishing him for who-knows-what, if someone else had called him out on it or if Scott had got to defend himself, instead of just taking it because Stiles was angry.  Scott allowing Stiles to hurt him to maintain their friendship was a pattern between them, just as much as Scott taking responsibility for things that aren’t his fault.  He keeps on doing it over the course of the show, but it would have been nice if the show at the very least had made it clear that that didn’t make Stiles behavior acceptable.
Just like I wish that Peter had actually faced consequences for his actions – and/or shown some kind of true remorse for his misdeeds--instead of the others just letting him hang around after all the horrible things he’d done or reduce it pettiness.
 4. I would have liked more time spent on Melissa and the McCall family in general, especially on Melissa’s initial reaction to Scott being a werewolf. In the show, they barely spent two minutes total on Melissa’s reaction to finding out her son has been turned into a werewolf.  By the end of s6b, she was barely even behaving like a mother anymore. Even to the point where we don’t even get a conversation between her and Chris about his attacks on her son before the two of them start dating.  Now don’t get me wrong, I liked Chris and Melissa in a relationship, but it was missed opportunity to humanize both her and Scott that they didn’t bother to show her finding out about that and her reaction to it.
Instead we got the whole horror reaction, of her being horrified at seeing her son’s other face, the reaction that any LGBT kid fears when they come out to their parent. Which could have been a great metaphor, especially if they had then made it clear that Scott was bisexual.
 5. I would have liked more focus on Boyd.   The production time spent on Isaac and Erica, while Boyd’s arc was treated as almost an afterthought. We barely even got any hint on his past, in the episode before they killed him off.    They started out with Boyd as the one who wanted to be like Scott, and then never explained it.  Why not focus more on that, and their relationship?
(similar complaints go about Mason, and how little we knew about Mason, outside of him being Liam’s friend. Like... what was his relationship like with his parents? What is Mason interested in, what does he want to do with his life... how did he deal with the after effects of the Beast...
 6. I would have liked more focus on Alan Deaton. The show had such huge potential with this character’s backstory, not just with the Hales but as an emissary in general.  There was this whole mythology about druids that they barely even delved into.
To not even start on how little we knew about his personal life? Why did he and his sister have different last names? What was their relationship like?
Does he have any romantic relationships? Friendships, relationships in general?
Or how about more time spent on his role as a father figure to Scott, we got so few crumbs of their relationship when we should have gotten so much more
 7. I would have liked more focus on Scott and Theo’s interaction in Season 6.   I get that in 6a, they had Scott primarily focused on getting Stiles back, but I’ll never understand why they then didn’t use 6b, to deal with the fact that Theo had tried to murder Scott and was trying to make it up to him and the pack for what he’d done to Scott and the others.
I don’t mind Theo interacting with Liam.  Those scenes were great, but they should have at least one scene with Scott and Theo dealing with the issues between them.  For Theo’s sake, as much as Scott’s.
 8. I would have liked a complete rework of Season 6A in its entirety.  If you’re going to focus a season on an actor who isn’t available, then you have to make it about his impact on the others. Show us what difference this character made, by showing us the effects of his absence, rather than just try and make it about a romantic ship. (I’ve written a post about this already in greater detail, so limiting it to that, but seriously, that season was such a huge wasted opportunity.)
 9.  Actual character growth for Stiles. For a character who had as much screentime as Stiles did, it’s shocking just how little character growth Stiles had over the course of the entire show. This contrasts in a really bad way, when you look at how much every single other character grew and changed over the course of the show.
Just look at the last four episodes of 5b, to give an example. After almost an entire season of watching Stiles at his worst, focusing on emotional scene after emotional scene with him, he suddenly got relegated to comic relief. Why? Because they didn’t want Stiles to grow, because unless he grew, there was no way for him to go but down. If Stiles had taken responsibility for his actions, then they’d have had to admit that he did wrong in the first place. And they couldn’t have that happen.
 10. And last but not least. More moments of the kids being kids. Even if it’s just proms and beach parties. Moments where we see the characters spend time together, when they aren’t trying to stop some bad guy. Where we can see them be friends, hang out with kids their own age. Even just to remind the audience just how young these children are. And where the viewers along with the characters can rest in between the horror, because doing so makes the horror hit far more strongly in contrast to the light.
 11. Also, a better lighting budget, pretty please Davies, were a few more light bulbs that much to ask for?

Everybody better watch the FUCK out because I am seriously about to steal the plot of Shrek 4 to create an AU with my ship with Junkrat 👀💖👀💖👀💖
YES I AM FUCKING SERIOUS BECAUSE LISTEN TO ME: The plot of Shrek 4 is Shrek wanting his old life back even if just for a day BUT that day is the day he was born so he ends up never having met Fiona or Donkey and there's so much that goes wrong without him and- wait okay I'm realizing as I'm typing this that this would also basically be an "It's A Wonderful Life AU" bUT MY AU IS MORE SIMILAR TO THE SHREK PLOT SO SHUT UP HERE'S THE AU:
So maybe on a boring, mundane day, Jamie starts getting a bit irritable and missing when he could just do whatever he wanted and cause mayhem and take no shit from no one, but now his life with his wife and child (me and Olivia) seems boring in comparison, and maybe me and him end up arguing and he accidentally says that he wishes he had his life back before he met me and OOF OUCH THAT HURTS but in the moment he's too angry to take it back so maybe he would storm out of the house angrily and go on a drive to be alone for a while but WHOOPS, he doesn't rly know how to drive so he ends up crashing
So the rest of the AU could be explained as a "life flashing before his eyes" hallucination where Jamie basically enters purgatory and is met with his "guardian angel" who would be Mercy (remember its a hallucination lmaoooo) and he's like "I want my old life back!" SO he's brought to present day if he had never met me, and immediately things are. Crazy
The present day that he's brought to is him and Roadhog in the middle of a heist that's gone wrong and turned into a shootout with police, and at first Jamie is having the time of his goddamn life being able to go crazy with his explosives again, but when the two escape the shootout and get to somewhere safe, Jamie realizes that some things are... different. First of all he's missing his other leg and even an eye, and once they're safe Mako nearly beats the shit out of him and yells at him for being a "huge idiot" and getting them in danger yet again because he just couldn't "stick to the plan", and when Jamie tells him to calm down he says that he's been putting up with Junkrat's reckless bullshit for the past three years and he's constantly one step away from snapping and letting him die, so thats the first hint to Junkrat that maybe meeting me did improve his life a bit, but eh whatever maybe if he goes and blows up more stuff he'll feel better!
But wuh-oh it turns out being at large for three years without ever cooling down means that you piss off a LOT of people and the two basically have nowhere safe to go without someone being after their head, and at first Jamie loves having the thrill of being on the run back but after a few DAYS it gets. Kinda tiring, so Jamie suggests going back to Australia but Mako "reminds" him that that's the most dangerous place they could possibly go because basically everybody in the Outback wants them dead after Jamie apparently tried (and almost succeeded) to blow up Junkertown and ended up hurting a lotta people.
So yeah, shit sucks right now. A lot. But maybe he can still find me and go back to the way things were! Yes that sounds insane but this is Junkrat we're talking about. So he at least figures out that the home we built together doesn't exist, but at the least he knows where my apartment is, but wuh oh I'm not theeeere, so he asks (threatens) the person who does live there now to tell him where the previous tenant lives and it's revealed that I moved back home to California after I couldn't become successful as a journalist, so of course he wants to travel there to get to me but Mako is finally fed the fuck up and thinks that Jamie's finally gone over the edge, so he actually tells him he's on his own. They part ways for the first time since they met.
Of course that hurt. A lot. But Jamie thinks that if he can just get back to me and find me again, then it will all be worth it. So he somehow does make it to California (he may have hijacked a plane at one point) and finds me in San Diego, working as a manager of a grocery store and living in an apartment with two other people whose lives also went wrong.....
Okay this is getting really long so I think I'm going to make a part 2 to this post, so stay tuned

Family Relations - Part 4
Summary: Your criminology teacher is acting all kinds of weird, which is the norm, except for the part where his eyes glaze over and he tries to kill someone. Stiles, the hero he is, tries to stop your professor with little avail until he gets some unnoticeable help from you. Stiles seems to find himself with you at the location of multiple attacks, just barely making it out alive. Through the bloodshed feelings, family, and friends mix to create a perfect blend of chaos and calm.
T/CW: Blood, gore, like a lot of fucking gore, swearing, body horror?
A/N: Sorry this took so long, I hope it's worth it. This is a long chapter but because the first part is short I put a time skip in the middle of it, that's what the = means. P.S - Happy mother's day!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You'd convinced him to stay with you for the night because of what you were absolutely sure Allison and Scott's "after-pack-meeting" activities would include. It wasn't hard, as soon as you mentioned the prospect of Stiles' precious sleep being interrupted by their shenanigans he was on board with staying at yours. Your dorm had two beds, you'd been lucky and not gotten a roommate, a blessing and a curse really. You'd laid the sheets out and gotten your extra pillow, all ready for Stiles to get to sleep. The only problem was, Stiles wasn't particularly interested in sleep yet. You'd had a long day, mostly it was just that bout of magical fighting that wore you out but still, you were tired, and Stiles simply didn't want to be in silence.
"So, Y/n..." You'd been listening to the sound of Stiles fidget like mad, and you were wondering when he was going to snap and finally talk to you.
"Yes." Your tone was smooth and song-like. Despite needing sleep desperately you wanted to talk to Stiles, he was fun to talk to. You'd always been kind of a loner, it was easier to stay hidden that way, but you didn't need to hide with Stiles and it felt fucking amazing.
"What's D.C like?" He didn't look at you when he asked, staring straight up at the ceiling, but you were happy to stare at him, studying the moles on his cheek and the way his hair laid against the pillow.
"It's, interesting." He snorted, turning to you as you whipped your head away so you didn't get caught staring.
"Care to elaborate on that?" He had a dopey smile on his face, looking at your side profile like his life depended on it while he waited for you to respond. You felt his gaze burning your skin, it was a burn you could get used to.
"I don't know what you want me to say. Traffic's a bitch if you live in D.C, that's for sure. It took me half a hour to go eight miles from my house to school." He sucked in a breath at the statement, like simply hearing about traffic that bad was physically paining him.
"Good thing is if you live in the city you don't really need a car. My mom didn't have a car, neither did any of my babysitters, so we took the metro and the subway everywhere." He hummed, like the thought of the subway actually pleased him.
"I'm going to be in the city, that's for sure. FBI headquarters is on Pennsylvania ave." His muttering made you giggle, surprised that he knew so much about the landscape.
"You've been there before?" Your smile was wide from laughter and you didn't even care if you looked like an idiot, you were having fun.
"Yeah, once. I looked at going to George Washington so when I toured we stopped by. It's a really ugly building by the way, they should fix that." He was quirking a smile as well, glancing between you and the ceiling to try and look discreet.
"Yeah they should." You were trying to be quiet for the sake of your dorm mates but you were having trouble, Stiles was funny and it felt so good to laugh. You hadn't laughed like this in years, always too stressed to find anything amusing.
"So, what's is like rooming with Scott?" He made a vague hum of mediocrity, shrugging and leaving it at that.
"Care to elaborate on that?" You giggled using his words against him.
"It's good, we've been like brothers since we were little kids so it's really not that big of a difference. We spent a lot of time together at my house because my dad was gone a lot so living with him is kinda familiar." You felt a pang of sympathy when he said his dad was away, you thought back to your dad and how absent he'd been. The memories cut off almost as suddenly as they'd started.
"What about your mom?" He took a deep breath, he had a slight frown on his face and you knew immediately that you'd hit a nerve.
"She died, when I was a kid. She had a type of dementia and it, killed her." He was fully frowning now, and he was no longer fully with you, his eyes had glazed over and he was staring right through you. He shook his head and came back, frown gone and a small smile took its place.
"I'm sorry, both for what happened and that I brought it up."
"It's ok, it's been a long time and it brought me and my dad really close so it wasn't all bad." His silver lining was slim, slimmer than was arguably debatable to even count as a silver lining, but you didn't argue. He'd shared enough of his past with you, and you felt honored by the confession even if you did accidentally cause it to happen by asking. The fact that he shared something with you meant a lot.
"My mom died too, she was hit by a car when I was 13 and she died in surgery." The air was tense, but Stiles' expression and morphed from fake stability to real sympathy as your eyes locked and you tried to comfort each other without words. You fell asleep shortly after that, Stiles had stayed quiet for more than five minutes and that was all it took for sleep to wave its wand and take you under it's control.
==
Screams woke you up, screams from within your dorm. They woke Stiles up too and you both sprung to get re-dressed properly, rushing out the door as soon as you'd slipped your shoes on. The screaming was coming from down the hall and you already had a sinking feeling what had happened.
It wasn't uncommon for your fellow dorm dwellers to leave their doors open, it helped circulate cool air in the desert that was California. Being born and raised in D.C left you significantly more paranoid than most of them however, and so you decided you'd rather just suffer the heat than the possibility of getting robbed blind. You'd told some people in the common room at the beginning of the year about your fear and they'd all but laughed at you, saying that nothing like that happened here. You'd never wanted to have been so wrong in your life.
One door was already wide open, and blood was smeared on several other doors, also open. It seemed that the killer had gone down the hall, checking who decided it was too hot to save their lives. The first body was in the doorway of the room three doors up from yours. It was sprawled out on the floor and you and Stiles nodded, agreeing not to go into the room considering the carpet was currently soaking up the victim's blood. It seemed there were plenty of others anyways.
Room after room, one slaughtered college student after another left you feeling ill beyond belief. You didn't need to be told what had happened, you already knew. You had never actually had the chance to see what happened when the killer was finished with their dirty work, what they did to the people they used as instruments of mass murder. Sadly it seems you didn't have to go searching to find out. At the end of the hall was another body, this time with a knife in its hand, most likely from the kitchen in the common room. Its throat was cut, much like all the other victims.
The screaming had long stopped, you assumed it came from one of the other residents who peeked out into the hallway and saw what looked like a scene from an upcoming Scream 5. Stiles was bent over the body, examining what you assumed was its deadness.
"Whatcha looking at?" He gave you a vague noise of acknowledgment before standing up and looking at you with a face slightly paler than it was before he bent down.
"I think you should see this Y/n." You squatted down next to the corpse, examining its overall lack of life and raising an inquisitive eyebrow up at Stiles.
"Look in her throat, through the cut." You'd really planned not to come this close to a corpse in your life. What's that saying? Make a plan and the universe laughs.
The throat was indeed, mostly just bloody and disgusting, but also intriguing. The windpipe and both carotid arteries were slashed straight through, a feat that was essentially impossible to do for the normal non-possessed human. In the back of the windpipe, which you could just barely see through the cut, there was a small mark. You dug your phone out of your back pocket, almost dropping it with how much your hands were shaking, and turned your flashlight on to it's brightest setting so you could see the mark clearly.
It was a small symbol, lines and swirls within a small circle that struck you as soon as you saw it. With a soft thud your ass met the ground as your precarious balancing act failed and you fell from your squatting position.
"Are you ok?" Stiles' voice was lost as your brain went into panic mode, the new found information stirring up a whirlwind of anxiety.
"We need to get out of here. Like, right now." Scrambling up from the blood soaked floor you made your way back to your dorm room, dragging a confused Stiles behind you asking a million and one questions.
Without answering any of them you grabbed your nearest backpack and started destroying your dorm room in an attempt to gather all of your most important belongings, a mix of underwear, clothes, and books thrown into your worn backpack.
"Are you going to keep ignoring me or do I get an explanation for why we need to leave your dorm room? Y'know other than the murdered college students..."  Stiles had passed the stage of being thoroughly confused by you, that ship sailed when you fought off the vine that attacked you both. Now however, he was fed up with not having answers to the predicament you now found yourselves in.
"Can I explain it to you in the car? We need to leave ASAP."
"The car has a name, it's Roscoe." You rolled your eyes, of course he named his car, and of course now is the best possible moment to tell you.
"Less talking more walking please."
"Sorry." The keys jingled as he grabbed them and yours, tossing your purple keychain to you so you could lock up. You took the stairs two at a time, almost tripping over Stiles in your haste to get out of the building.
The car seats were cold when you got in but you couldn't be more awake than you already were, adrenaline and fear coursing through your blood, the symbol seemingly burned into the back of your eyelids, haunting you whenever you so much as blinked. Stiles booked it out of the parking lot, Roscoe's tires making an awful screeching noise as he turned while reversing, a move that would have scared you had there not been the max amount of fear already happening.
"So, explanation." He raised an expectant eyebrow at you, biting his tongue to let you answer before he spiraled into asking questions without enough time for you to answer them.
"Uh, do werewolves have symbols for different concepts, like danger and stuff?"
"Y-yeah they do, there's one for revenge it's a spiral. Why?" A spiral, of course the supernatural weren't creative when it came to symbol differences.
"Ok well witches do, it's called the witches' alphabet, it's a few symbols they mean stuff, the one we just saw in the corpse was the symbol for revenge. It's used to channel the chosen energy into whatever magic you cast." Your voice was shaking, the lack of oxygen in your system making you feel light headed, or maybe that was the endorphins, who knows.
"Ok, so what does that mean?" Stiles was shaking as well, not liking the sound of any more revenge business. He had to deal with this once before, he didn't want a repeat supernatural problem.
"It means that whoever cast the spell is one, vengeful, two, meeting the victims beforehand to get the symbol on them. This is bad, like, really bad." You had to actively sit on your hands to stop their fidgeting, the nervous energy bubbling inside your body like a volcano.
"Just what we need, a witch who wants vengeance. Was a normal evil witch not enough?!" Stiles' comment made you chuckle, the breathy act brought a twitch of a smile to his face, your happiness spreading to him in the midst of your crisis.
"Apparently not. Where are you going, the dorms are the opposite way."
"I don't know, I didn't want to take you back to Scott until I knew what was going on so I kind of just started driving around." Had you not been stressed beyond belief at the moment you would have been endeared by Stiles' care for his friend and roommate, but at the moment it was just irritating.
"You just drove us in the middle of the night down a street you have no idea where it leads? Really Stiles?! Take us to Scott, now." You were fuming but upon seeing the dejected look in Stiles' eyes at your harsh tone you were reminded as to how hard this entire situation must be for a normal human, werewolf pack member or not.
"Please. Could you please take us to Scott." Your manners had escaped you for a moment but with the regaining of your senses they came back.  A pang of guilt struck you at how mean you'd been to the brunette next to you. Reaching out for his hand which was resting on the stick-shift you hoped silently that he would accept your unspoken apology. He did accept, a blush rising to his cheeks at the skin-to-skin contact that you initiated and a smile creeping on his face.
Moments after your mutual flush and giddiness over the contact Stiles pulled up into the parking lot of his own dorm, the tar lit up just barely by a floodlight near the sidewalk. Unwinding his fingers from yours he was the first to get out of the car, you following shortly after, the cold air hitting your bare shoulders per your tank top which you just now realized was covered in blood.
Rushing to Stiles' side you wrapped your arms around your torso to try and cover the evidence of your dorm's activities, only to realize that your arms were the source of the problem. A mix of various people's blood was coating your arms, the red solution drying crusty on your skin. Thankfully it was the middle of the night, the darkness mostly covering your blood-stained everything.
Looking over at the mole-covered man next to you you took in the sight of him, surprisingly not covered entirely in blood. He had spots of it on his hoodie, only barely visible thanks to the floodlight, but he'd managed to stay clear of the mess, something you were currently jealous of. You wouldn't be able to take a shower until you were back in your own dorm and you were really dreading the idea of having to wash off both of your arms in the small dorm sinks.
Stiles opened the door for you and the heat influx from the building was a welcome change, the goosebumps immediately vacating your skin. You both headed up to his dorm in relative silence, trying not to wake his neighbors up. It was a harder feat than it should have been, given how often Stiles almost tripped on the single flight of stairs up to his shared room.
You could hear snoring coming from one of the beds, presumably Scott's, and the embarrassing situation you'd found your friend in made you momentarily forget your current predicament. In the darkness you could see two bodies in Scott's bed, the smaller one of which you assumed was Allison, tucked under her boyfriend's arm. They were sleeping so peacefully you almost felt bad to wake them, Stiles however, did not. With a loud enough greeting and the swift act of turning on all of the lights in their dorm, he woke his roommate and his roommate's girlfriend up with a startle.
"Stiles! They were sleeping!" You'd wanted to put up a semblance of good will with the woman you'd met less than 24 hours ago but in reality you were stifling a laugh, biting your tongue to keep from bursting out. The couple let out groans of protest at being woken up in the wee hours of the morning but got up eventually anyways, thankfully somewhat dressed after what you were still convinced their nightly activities consisted of.
"What the hell dude?" The were-wolf's voice was groggy from sleep and the rough scratch in his throat reminded you of Stiles' voice less than two hours ago when you were woken up by screaming neighbors.
"Sorry but you really can't be asleep right now, also yes that is blood on Y/n's, well everywhere, I will explain that in a minute. Allison could you help her clean up? Scott I need to talk to you." Nodding Allison took immediate heed to Stiles' request and looked carefully for a space to lead you that wasn't covered in blood before eventually deciding 'fuck it' and grabbing one of your slowly drying arms, washing the blood off of the area in the small sink.
There wasn't a lot of space in the dorm for a private conversation but you and Allison made small talk in an attempt to give the boys some facade of privacy.
"So, rough night I guess?" She let out a small chuckle at her own joke while you allowed a smile to creep onto your face at the problem you had earlier found yourself in.
"You could say that. Someone decided it'd be a good idea to murder a solid percentage of my floor mates so, y'know, the night could have gone better." She gasped at that, the light air of the conversation having gone as soon as you brought up the traumatic events that had occurred.
"Murder? Oh God. By 'a solid percentage' you mean how many people exactly?" Your mind flashed through the bodies you'd seen, counting at least six in the haze of the night.
"Six, maybe more. I don't know for sure, it was a lot. We found who did it though, kind of." You wished that you were dealing with a normal murder where finding who did the killing actually solved your problem. Sadly, that wasn't the case and the situation was getting more and more fraught in your mind the more you stressed about it, the images and circumstances pulling the strings in your mind so tightly they were beginning to fray.
"Are you ok?" Allison's eyes were kind and you noted in the back of your brain to thank Scott that he had such good taste in girlfriends.
"Yeah, I think so. I'm not hurt or anything, just a little shaken up." She nodded silently before going into nurse-mode and scanning your now-clean left arm.
"No scratches, all of this blood seems to be someone else's. I think most of the blood is other people's but I need to wash off the other arm to be sure."
"Be my guest, I wasn't feeling the whole blood-sleeve look anyways." You shrugged and let out a small giggle at your own joke, Allison following suit as she lathered up the ruined washcloth for another round of scrubbing.
You were in the process of cleaning the blood from underneath your fingernails when Stiles and Scott crept up behind you, interrupting the light bonding that you had started with Allison.
"Ok, we need to get out of here and go back home, right now." Scott took on more of a dominant personality when in charge and it made you glad that someone knew what to do, even if you didn't. You'd already grabbed spare clothes from your dorm room so you and Allison waited by the door nervously while Stiles and Scott scrambled to gather their most important belongings.
"Where is home?" You knew where you were from and where your home was, but you doubted that everyone would be game for catching a flight at almost 4 a.m.
"Beacon Hills, it's where we all met. Stiles and Scott are from there, so is most of the pack, I moved there sophomore year. The pack started in Beacon Hills, the town is like a beacon for the supernatural, it's probably the safest place to be because it's home territory, Scott's pack has been protecting it for years now."
"So Scott's the alpha?" It made sense given his natural leadership abilities and his friendliness, but it was still a little odd to see your friend as the strongest were-wolf out of the entire group you saw the other night.
"He's a true alpha too." You'd heard of true alphas, mostly by myth however, they were rare but the more you thought back on Scott's character the more it made sense. He was easily one of the most loyal people you'd met, and he was brave as well, fighting for people he didn't even know, or people he didn't know well. He was willing to risk his life to save the barista on the day of that attack, even willing to let her see him shift, it was only logical that he was a true alpha.
Your conversation was interrupted as it took all of five minutes for the two best friends to pack their things, swing the backpacks stuffed full of items over their shoulders before they led the way back down to the Jeep that was parked out front.
The ride was quiet and tense, Stiles in the front with you and Scott in the back with Allison, explaining the specifics of the situation that you had purposely left out because you didn't know how to explain it without making a joke out of it. Dark humor was quickly becoming your most solid coping mechanism for morbidity.
Scott went to protect Allison as she ran up to her dorm to grab her things as well, insisting that she tell her roommate she was going home so no one would file a missing person's report and make the entire situation more complicated.
She came back downstairs quickly, Scott in tow looking noticeably dazed as he held on to his girlfriend's hand when she plopped in the back of Stiles' Jeep. You let out a snort at what had most likely been a 'our lives are in danger' make out and let them have their secrecy as Stiles started up for what was the drive to Beacon Hills.

Entry 1: Mission to Mars
Date: 20 JUL 2028
First Lt. Cruz, Estella M. (USN)
I am keeping this log to jot down everything that is seen or heard on our mission to Mars. It will take us, at least, a year to get there. We are the first shuttle with human bodies to enter its atmosphere and the first humans to step foot onto the planet.
“Estella, mija,” she heard the sound of her adoptive father call to her in a concerned tone. “Are you okay? I’m sure you’re nervous right?”
Estella looked up from the dinner table and over at both her adoptive parents. She nodded and smiled a bit.
“Yeah. I’m good.”
Estella was the adoptive daughter of Mateo and Natalie Cruz. She was originally from Puerto Rico and was adopted by them in San Juan when she was four years old. Mateo and Natalie, at the time, were planning on adopting a child as they couldn’t have any of their own. They flew all the way there from Camp Pendleton, California. Both Mateo and Natalie were stationed at that base. They were both U.S. Marines. After Natalie and Mateo adopted Estella, Natalie finished up her enlistment with the Marine Corps and decided to become a full time mom to her. Mateo stayed in and later on went on to retire from the Marine Corps Infantry as a Gunnery Sergeant.
Like her parents, Estella went into the military. The only difference being that she went into college first and then later joined the U.S. Navy. She was determined to be a pilot and not just any pilot, a fighter pilot. She was successful and even went all the way to Top Gun just to be the best. Her call sign: Phoenix. She was a fire spitting female and she blazed through the skies. At least, that’s what everyone else says but, she is one of the best and it showed.
Her heart remained in the skies but, her biggest love of all was the stars. Her father had bought her a telescope when she was very young. She had always wanted to be an astronaut and explore the galaxy. Now that she’s older it’s obviously not doable to explore the entire Milky Way galaxy, nevertheless the universe, right? Here she was, though, packing her essentials for space exploration for the next day.
Was she actually nervous? Perhaps. Someone else was going to be flying the shuttle and not her. That actually made her a bit nervous in itself. She was used to flying her own fighter jet herself. Anytime someone else flew, it was a no go!
Estella sat in her old bedroom on it’s little balcony. Her parents had already said their goodnights and went to bed. She had to get some sleep soon. She had to be by at least 4 a.m. to get ready, eat, get out of the house and be there on time for pre-flight formation and accountability. This was going to be an exciting new chapter and journey in her life and she couldn’t wait but Estella had this weird notion going on in her gut that this was probably going to also change her life forever.
She poured that hot coffee from the pot and into her metal Tervis Tumbler cup, added sugar and her mocha flavored creamer and headed on out the door with her parents trailing behind her. Of course they were going to go with her and drop her off at the space station: Kennedy Space Center. After her father had retired, the whole family moved to Florida. Her mother was from there. They had family living here still too.
The air in Florida was warm even though it was still pretty dark out. She shut her door to the Honda they were driving in and stared at the station. She could see people lining up around the area to catch a glimpse of the shuttle taking off when it was time. She took a deep breath and wrapped her one arm around her mother’s waist as they walked up to the station's doors with her father trailing behind with her bag.
“Did you bring your notebook?” her mother asked.
Estella nodded and replied, “yes mama. Everything is all packed and ready to go.”
Her mother smiled and faced forward again, “make sure you write everything down in that book. You're gonna want to look back on these days and remember what you witnessed, even when you’re old and you’re grandchildren or even, you’re children, will want to know. Maybe they'll even use your experiences for research around the world.”
Natalie was excited for her daughter. She had watched her grow up and leave home to join the military after college. She watched her go through all her training and has been there from the start of it all, even on the days Estella would call and cry about how stressed and tired she is from everything. It all led to the dream Estella had from when she was a little girl.
“Well…” They had now reached the area where her parents could not go and Estella had turned to her parents with tears forming in her eyes. “I will be seeing you guys in two years from now o-or longer?... I’ll be fine and I’ll call you guys on Skype or something when we have down time.”
Her parents smiled at her and hugged her long and tight.
“We love you so much and we are so proud of you, Stella. You have done so much more than what we have ever done in our lives and we are so happy that you're getting to be a part of this. Don’t worry about us, we will be fine and we will be waiting for your return,” her father said as he held her hands.
“I love you guys too. More than anything and… thank you for everything.”
With that, she turned around to face one of her fellow comrades that was waiting for her down the hall and walked on. She turned again to face her parents from afar and waved at them, smiling.
*************
He stared off into space while in deep thought. Lives were lost at the cost of this little, green child and they were still going to be hunted down by Moff Gideon and his pack of womprat,  Empire scum. Yet, he perhaps felt a little something for the child now that he was his adoptive father and all. The child was his foundling and nothing else could be done of it. This is the Way.
He had to find the child’s family or at least someone who knew how to help the child control his powers. The “Force” is what he heard it was called. He had only ever heard stories of Jedi’s who wielded it back from the days of the Old Republic and of one sole Jedi by the name of Skywalker who had defeated the Empire. Also the stories of the war between Mandalore and the Jedi. But, they had to be just tales, right? Probably not and the child was proof that something just had to be true.
The child sat next to him in his seat fast asleep with the little metal ball in his clutch. The Mandalorian stared at him and watched for a little bit and was distracted by some type of explosion in between the stars. He had never seen such a thing in his entire life. It was like a hole. A dark hole that led to just blackness? He put the Razor Crest at a slower speed than what it was originally to watch this random scene take place. Some type of ship flew out from it. It was white in color and all banged up. It was a weird looking thing in all honesty with a logo that was not from this sector at all.
He wondered if there was anyone inside or if they were even alive. There was no way they’d be alive if they crashed into another planet. Could they? The random space ship was headed straight for the same place that he was going to be stopping at for supplies: Tatooine.
***********
The point of this mission to Mars that they were attempting was for ‘Project Life.’ It was simply a project that had been done before: looking for life on Mars. This time, instead of robots, they were going to use people. Of course, they would have a robot with them though. They called the robot ‘Bee.’ There was no particular reason but that it was black and yellow in color.
Estella’s heart was racing as they all clamored into their seats to prepare for take off. There would be six people on this mission, including her. She could feel the engine thundering from below them, it’s sound vibrating in her ears and almost drowning out the voices coming from the headphones they wore. She could make out the beep-boop noises from the control and buttons on the ship. They radiated flashing lights of blue and red with hints or green and orange.
The pilot and co-pilot of the ship placed their hands on the controls and feet firmly on the floor. She was so distracted by everything around her that she had just missed the execution: take off. This was nothing new to her, the G forces that she felt weighing down on her body. She hoped and prayed silently in her mind that they would not explode while exiting the different layers of atmospheres. Morbid as it may seem, it has happened before and she, unfortunately, had thought about it before they took off. Not exactly the kind of mentality you want to have while going on a space shuttle into space.
It seemed like hours had gone by before they suddenly stopped. It was then she heard a crowd cheering in the ear pieces and her comrades cheering in the shuttle. They had made it! All those atmospheric layers were behind them and they were suddenly drifting in space. Slow and steady. She could feel her body trying to rise from the seat. She almost forgot that there was zero gravity up here too. She smiled to herself and waited for everyone to unbuckle from their seats so that she could follow suit. This was going to be a long, long journey but, to planet Earth, it was all worth it.
1 year later…
“One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” The captain of the crew was the first to venture out into the unknown territory of planet Mars. Did he really use that quote? Yes, yes he did. Estella laughed and shook her head. The crew she was with had become like family over the course of the year while they were in flight to Mars. She got along with each one of them and they all seemed to know each other more personally than they had when they first started. Not much to do on a spaceship to another planet than actually talk to each other.
Estella stepped out and her anxiety eased itself out. The ground really was red and left footprints in her wake wherever she went. The texture was almost like clay.
Don’t know how plants would be able to grow here? She thought to herself. Who knows if the ground had any type of nutritional value to it for plants.
The biggest thing for them at this moment was to see if water could even withstand the air here. If they could pour it into a glass cup and it would stay. Planting some type of plant would come next because they were going to try that as well. She looked over the horizon as she got to the top of a small hill, her and another crew member. The sun always seemed like it was setting here or at least it wasn't and it was just the sky that remained like it was. Everything just seemed so red. It would take years and years on life living here to make it, well, colorful.
There has to be more out there…
She felt the wind blow a little bit from behind her as if it beckoned her to go across it’s red desert. That gut feeling she felt a while back had crept itself back into her mind and her breathing trembled. She became nervous once more.
“Cruz? We need you and McKinley back at the shuttle. We’re turning in for the day.” Thank Heavens for the Captain calling them back and distracting her gut feeling.
1 Month later…
All her logs from the month had been written successfully and on time. It feels like it had gone by really quickly, being here on the big, red planet. They were going to leave the plant they had brought with them here in hopes that perhaps the seeds would spread and create more of the same plant, like it would as if it was on Earth. Estella got the honor of planting it into the ground. She had a beautiful garden back home herself and so the crew voted that she would plant it on Mars.
Home.
What was that again?
She was shocked that she would even ask herself that question. She had grown an attachment to life out here and on the spaceship that she almost wanted to cry as they were getting ready to take off again. Like she didn’t want to leave? She wanted to explore more but, there was only so much time and supplies that they had.
This time she actually paid more attention as they took off. The engine thundered underneath them again.
“You’re clear for take off,” the voice inside the headphones said.
“Here we gooo!” Exclaimed one of the crew members and everyone smiled to themselves. This had been a successful journey. It was one that they would return home from and be placed into history books as the pioneers who went to look for life on Mars. Though no alien life forms were found, they planted one from their planet instead. For the next few months that plant will be watched. The plant was cactus. Hardy and can survive droughts. They hoped that maybe rain would fall onto the planet although, they weren’t entirely sure if the rain was actually acidic. If so, it would probably kill the plant. It didn't hurt to try and experi-
The alarms blared and panic rose all around her.
“Captain what’s going on?” the commander from Earth was now on the headphones calling in.
“I have no idea!” the Captain shouted into the mic. “It’s like we’re being turned around!”
She could hear fear rise from back at the station they communicated with from Earth. She sat there frozen and she looked outside the window from the seat. There seemed to be a hole. A dark, black hole that led to nothingness on the other side. The hole looked like there was light haloed around it with rings, like Saturn. They weren’t really rings though, just light.
A noise from all around the ship startled the crew. It sounded like a low groan and then little pebbles hitting it all at once. The captain resumed his communication with the station back on Earth, trying to figure out how to use the ship's power to pull them out and then the whole crew saw it. The captain froze and his mouth dropped open.
“No way…” he muttered.
His co-pilot looked over at him and she said, “I didn’t know a wormhole existed right near Mars. How did we not see this?”
She tried to not sound like she was panicking but Estella could hear it in her voice that she was definitely scared. That concerned the rest of them. Space was a wild place and we didn’t know that much about it even after all the years of space exploration. We did, however, know that there existed these things called wormholes. Holes that would lead to other dimensions? Perhaps. Take us back in time? Maybe… Another galaxy?... If we survived it. Then how would you get home from there?
Everyone had scurried in their seats to do their part in turning the ship back around and from out of the wormhole’s pull. Then came the crashing noises and the louder groans from the ship. It was as if it was gonna tear the space shuttle in half. Before they knew it, it was too late. The communication had started to get staticy and was cutting the other side out so they couldn’t hear them. The lights in the ship flickered more than they should have and then all went black.
Her thoughts flickered immediately to her family and friends back home. To the butterfly garden she made in her parents backyard. The ocean when she went surfing in the fall. Her fighter jet and the times when she flew. Her times at the Top Gun academy. College and bootcamp in the Navy. High School and middle school. The first time she went to kindergarten and  when she was adopted by her parents. Puerto Rico. The place she was born and the poor village she lived in…. Everything was going backwards?
Estella felt sick to her stomach. She could feel the ship turn and roll as it was swallowed. The sounds of it roaring in her ears. Her body felt like it was being ripped in half. Her face numbed and she felt dizzy. She thinks she might have thrown up but her mind was hazed over.
So, this is death. She thought to herself as she blacked out.
************
He followed the ship all the way to the planet Tatooine and witnessed it going into flames and crashing into the ground.
He looked over at the now awoken child and sighed, “this does not look good.”
The child cooed as they slowly flew down about a few miles away from the crash site so that they could go and search for survivors. Although he was more curious about this than anything the Mandalorian had a gut feeling that this was going to change his life forever.

Is Teen Wolf Lovecraftian?
Tumblr media
Is Teen Wolf Lovecraftian?
Yes, very much so.
Why?
To understand if Teen Wolf is a Lovecraftian horror we need to start by defining our terms and providing comparisons. Lovecraft stories directly made into movies as a whole are just bad, and most video games too. However, using Lovecraftian ideas and tropes creates a successful narrative in most cases.
Several things define the Lovecraftian horror experience.
Isolation both mentally and physically
Lack of character information which is replaced by character reaction.
Lack of information about the world in which the protagonist finds themselves with a penalty for discovering that information.
The revelation that that which was formerly known is now revealed to be unknown and the consequences thereof
Fear of the unknown, specifically the previously thought known
Body Horror, specifically bodily transformation, from which there is no reversal
The insignificance of the subject in regards to the whole
These look specifically vague and you can apply them around a lot, and people do, but you might also notice a lack of tentacles there.
So before we turn this on Teen Wolf let’s present an example that you can understand the points in question
John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982)
A group of men in an Antarctic station inadvertantly let something other into their base.
Interestingly the least Lovecraftian thing in “The Thing” is the thing itself, and wasn’t that a fun sentence to write.
The Americans [as opposed to the late Norwegians] are already at breaking point, isolation - caused by the weather, their close proximity to each other, boredom and exhaustion have taken their toll, they are a brush fire just waiting for a spark, and that spark is the thing. It is not the spark because it’s hunting them down, because that seems almost incidental in it’s desire to just survive and hide despite it’s otherness, it’s the fact that any of them could BE the thing. I’m going to start calling it the alien - it sounds less like I’ve forgotten the word. This will probably cause problems when I move on to Alien (1979) in a minute.
Combined with that Carpenter uses long empty tracking shots (a technique he used in Halloween [1978] ) which creates a voyeuristic feeling which removes the safety of the base. The way that it works matches “The Strangers” (2008) which removes the feeling of being safe in your own home. The rich white affluent suburb with it’s white clapboard houses and wide green open spaces is invaded by “the shape” as he is called the in the credits, and those shots, in which nothing happen, makes the space unknown and terrifying for it. It removes the illusion of safety.
We know almost nothing about the men in the base, we become invested in them not because of what they are but who, they are charming, funny, tired, and very realistic but it becomes hard to remember their names because those things are ultimately irrelevant. Combined with the discovery of the space ship those men are irrelevant, what they undergo is irrelevant, no one is on the other end of the radio, they will not be saved and their deaths serve no purpose. They and their experience doesn’t matter.
In Ridley Scott’s Alien (1979) does the same thing, a random ship encounters something vast and unknowable and is infected, the Xenomorph then picks off the crew for no other reason than to continue it’s own species, it doesn’t choose them for any other reason than they are there. The robot’s betrayal makes them even more meaningless, any ship that encountered alien life would do, it just happened to be that one.
The presence of the Xenomorph makes the ship unknown, it could be anywhere. At first they think it’s something small and don’t learn otherwise until face to face with it. They have to use technology they don’t quite understand and can’t really use to find it in their own safe space. A safe space surrounded on all sides by absence - space itself. All the things on the ship which previously gave them safety, the machines that allow them to exist on the ship, are now dark places for it to hide.
In Dario Argento’s Suspiria (1977) - the only film not to have aliens - Suzy goes to a place that is grotesquely beautiful and just happens to be in the next room to the girl who is investigating it, when that girl goes missing she looks for her and discovers the old witch and kills her to save her own life.
Yet Suspiria, which might be the most Lovecraftian film of them all, has no exposition, most of the characters aren’t introduced, and the movie is mostly experiential, maggots rain from the ceiling, but we don’t know why, the witches are killing the girls in the academy but we don’t know why, instead we have a lurid oversaturated nightmare of a narrative where the dance academy swerves from mundane to brightly lit Roger Corman-esque interior design fantasy. It is a building that if Ludwig II took acid he might design using only primary colours, art nouveau doors, blood red walls and corridors that seem to ooze menace without doing anything, overlaid with Goblin’s infamous soundtrack. Combined with that the actors filmed the dialogue in their own language and English was dubbed over so the characters are not really communicating.
Suspiria is as close to reading Lovecraft (without the racism) as it is possible to get. And it does also feature body horror when Sarah is resurrected by the witches to act as a weapon, despite her slit throat and the pins in her eyes. It is a nightmare on film.
It is also not a film you watch. It’s a film you experience. [The remake is good but very different and not so Lovecraftian, although most of the characters are played by Tilda Swinton, it’s really squinting are you Tilda Swinton too?]
So having given defintions and examples of what it is - does Teen Wolf fit.
Isolation both mentally and physically
It is impossible for the characters in the know to leave the town, and even if they do then they must return.
We see Scott try to leave twice, once in Motel California and again in Ghosted. Both times they enter a phantasmagoric town which is certainly not the outside world. Other characters are taken by the Wild Hunt. Derek Hale manages to leave, but only after “evolution”.
His trips to Mexico are also phantasmagoric in that it is hard to say that they are not dreams, the Calavera stronghold for example uses a lot of dream logic and wonky camera angles giving the idea that it’s not real. La Iglesia does this as well.
Within the town there are those who know and those who do not. Those who know flock together but have to keep their secret from those who don’t. So Scott doesn’t tell his mother until season 2, Stiles doesn’t tell his Father until 3b, Lydia is still trying to tell her mother in s5.
Characters unaware of the knowledge that others know are completely isolated, without anyone to go to, which usually ends in violence, often against themselves - the Chimera.
With as much as the main characters know it is clear that they know very little about the town, as shown by the family of wendigo who were part of the community.
2. Lack of character information which is replaced by character reaction.
We know almost nothing about any of the characters. We know how they react and how they interact, and how they change, but their histories are completely absent. This is as true of the main characters as it is the victims who only appear in one episode.
3. Lack of information about the world in which the protagonist finds themselves with a penalty for discovering that information.
People know nothing, research can present viable answers which are later proven wrong, characters guess in good faith and are wrong, characters lie, but ultimately they know very little about the world in which they’ve found themselves and those who do know often withhold or manipulate that information.
An easy example is Damnatio Memoriae in which Scott discovers what he believes to be the identity of the original Beast, a serial killer in France, who has nothing to do with the Beast at all. It’s a coincidence that the term has been applied. The knowledge is irrelevant and Scott is left with no more information about the Beast than he did at the start, then the person who does tell him, in Maid of Gevaudan, is Gerard and has every reason to lie, and that’s assuming his guess was correct.
The more characters know in Teen Wolf the more likely they are to end up in Eichen House, and Dr Fenris, in 6b, with the information he has, becomes a mass murderer.
4. The revelation that that which was formerly known is now revealed to be unknown and the consequences thereof
The town is a supernatural hotspot and the revelation of that is the entire plot. I think we can agree that that one certainly applies. Combined with that the use of “safe spaces” as battlegrounds, such as the school, the school bus, the sheriff’s station.
5. Fear of the unknown, specifically the previously thought known
Dr Fenris killed the monsters in his care, the Sheriff nearly has a nervous breakdown with the appearance of the chimera, the possession of Stiles and Scott’s reaction thereafter. These all very much apply, even Stiles fear when Scott attacks him in the locker room in pilot. The more people know the more scared they become.
Traditionally in horror the less people know the more they have to be scared of, but in Lovecraftian horror they know enough to fear it, but not much more, often the creature, by its very existence can induce fear (like the Anuk-Ite) because it is so outside the realms of what the human mind can comprehend.
6. Body Horror, specifically bodily transformation, from which there is no reversal
Werewolves. It is worth mentioning here however that there are anomalies in the transformations, almost all of the werewolves speak of pain during transformation, and Derek uses pain to help control it by overwhelming them with pain, but Scott does not. Just as the protagonist in “The Dunwich Horror” finds himself turned into a fishman there is an inevitability to the transformations in certain cases. Derek is on a path to his inevitable evolution. Scott’s natural evolution is subverted, this might be because he never transforms after his black eyed beast form in season 4. His fear of his transformation holds him back from his inevitable end form, yet there is no way he can be human again, no matter how much he wants it.
7. The insignificance of the subject in regards to the whole
Scott is not important because of who he is. He’s important because he happened to be the person in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is incidental to most of the story despite him being the focus character, the world doesn’t care about Scott McCall, it is interested in the True Alpha, but that could as easily be Chuck Norris. Scott isn’t even the true alpha by virtue but for reasons we do not know, Deucalion had no interest in it, Peter thought it was hilarious, Morell manipulated it to save her own life and Deaton worshipped it. Others use it as a target. When Scott says, “I’m a true alpha you don’t know what I’m capable of” it defines the character. Kincaid tells him he’s not as strong as a normal alpha. There are questions around his biting of Liam. Scott is not the Chosen One, he’s the one that was there and that’s ignoring his questionable behaviour and the very strong argument that he is a villain, and that his narrative was one of fallen messiah and not the hero’s journey.
Frodo was not the Chosen One, he was the guy who had the ring, and many of his successes are because of his party of companions, but Frodo’s quest, which he fails, is of world ending importance.
In Scott’s case, he again succeeds mostly because of his companions, though, unlike Frodo, he is unaware of this, he is not throwing the ring into Mount Doom to defeat Sauron, returning the ring to the jeweller because it needs resized, and might pick up some milk as well while he’s in the area.
So in conclusion is Teen Wolf Lovecraftian = yes
Does it fit the criteria laid out by works accepted to be Lovecraftian = yes
Does it follow the conventions of similar Lovecraftian works = yes
Is it the Lovecraftian conventions spread over such a large scope that cause so much dissatisfaction in the audience = yes
Almost every point in the list is something I’ve seen people complain about, we don’t know about this, we know nothing about that, that makes no sense, I think this episode would make more sense on hallucinogens etc
It is a well written Lovecraftian nightmare, it uses variant realities and isolation, suspicion and distrust well = but it tells us nothing, resolves very little and has a main character who could deliberately be replaced with a well meaning bag of sand.
But at least there were no tentacles.

My 10 Favorite Posts, So Far
Well, tomorrow makes 5 years of blogging as natsubeatsrock. It’s been quite a crazy 5 years and I’ve made a number of crazy posts in the time between starting this blog and today. To celebrate I wanted to talk about 10 of my favorite posts over the past five years. This list isn’t necessarily ranked from least to most favorite, but there is one post I can call my absolute favorite.
Let’s go!
Honorable Mention: The Rewrite of Fairy Tail: Part 16 (Lisanna) [originally posted March 27, 2019]
As an honorable mention, I want to shed some light on my favorite post from last year. I started making this post months before the series was on the verge of ending. As I was working on this post and decided to work on rewriting Fairy Tail, I started to rework this series as a defense for keeping Lisanna in the series, as opposed to cutting her. This has been a theme in a lot of the posts I’ve made about Lisanna since a post I made before that one and I do plan to talk about that in the future.
#10. My Incredibly Unpopular Thoughts on: Ships/Zervis [originally posted October 25, 2015]
This is the earliest post in my top 10 and it shows. Around this time two big things happened: I made a post on August 31st called My Incredibly Unpopular Thoughts on: Juvia and the fandom exploded over Zervis, due to the revelations in canon. I intended to make that first post a part of a series and this was too big of an opportunity to pass. I remember that writing this was ridiculously easy for me. In fact, it’s one of the shortest posts for me to draft and upload with its relative size.
While I’m not as proud of how my writing prowess shines in this post, almost everything I’ve said in this post has become my philosophy on ships since posting it. My thoughts on shipping fandoms? Check. My thoughts on canon weight of ships? Check. My wishy-washy feelings over Zervis? Check. For a long time, this was my favorite entry in this series, but we’ll ge tto that soon enough.
#9. Bye, Bye Lucy: Part 4 [originally posted May 20, 2017]
A lot of you may be shocked to see this post on the list. “Bye, Bye Lucy“ was a series of posts I did explaining all of the issues I have with the infamous subset of fanfics that has Lucy get kicked off the Strongest Team in favor of Lisanna, resulting in her leaving Fairy Tail. I had a ton of fun working on this series. So much so, I actually ended up writing a story based on the idea I posit in Part 3 of this series, which I released earlier this month. But, individually, Part 4 is my favorite individual post in the series which focused on the idea of Lucy leaving the guild over the whole situation.
Originally, this whole series was going to be one really long post at just over 10,000 words. However, around the time I was working on the part that would become this post, I realized that these stories fail with each successive plot point important to this trope of story. At this particular point, any stories lose me as both stories inspired by Fairy Tail and as their own type of stories. No good story that I know even tries to play with these tropes has Lucy actually leave the guild, even temporarily.
#8. Why I Still Ship Nali (Even if Most of the Rest of Fandom Doesn’t) [originally posted March 1, 2020]
I didn’t want to add too many posts from too recent on this list. As much as I think my current writing is my most consistent writing, it would be hard to say that too many of my posts now are at the same level as many of the posts coming up on this list. But, I’m honestly glad that I made this post, especially considering some of the things surrounding its creation.
About three months into my blog, I made a post called “What I Need to Stop Shipping Nali (and why I still do)”. Around the time I was going to post it, I guess someone made a post questioning why people would still ship Nali. It’s become one of my least favorite posts and I’ve felt it desperately needed to be updated for a while. I decided to tackle an issue I’ve had seen in much of fan interpretations with Nali: doing nothing past Edolas with Nali. I wrote the first draft out months ago and waited for a good opportunity to type it out. When I got the hate messages, that felt like as good a time as any. Speaking of which...
#7. My Response to Anon-san [originally posted March 31, 2016]
A bit of backstory may help with this one. I posted “My Incredibly Unpopular Thoughts on: Lisanna” on Easter that year. I check my phone coming out of my church’s night concert and I got the two messages I respond to in this post. When I first saw I got messages, I was worried because that was the first time I ever got negative anon messages. But when I read them, I knew I needed to talk about this as my 3,000th post on this blog - a milestone I was on the cusp of approaching when I got the messages.
While I like the precedent my response seemed to set for my dealing with this type of stuff, the reason this post is here that I legitimately love the messages I was responding to. Every now and then, I read them to myself just to remind myself they exist. I’m not even sure why I got them in the first place. They don’t even seem terribly connected to that Lisanna post. While complaining about fandom has been something I’m apt to do for a number of reasons, I can’t imagine which post got on their “nevers”. But believe me when I say that I am feeling very cooling about the fact that I did.
#6. My Incredibly Unpopular Thoughts on: Nalu [originally posted July 9, 2016]
I’m sure this one isn’t much of a shock too many of you. Around the time I made this post, the “anti-Nalu“ community was very different from how it is now. I had made a couple of posts about some of the issues I had with the ship and its fandom, but nothing on this scale. As a part of Fairy Tail month, I figured should try to explain everything I saw wrong with both.
Even as I wanted to do this and made plenty of similar posts before this, the thought of backlash terrified me. I made sure to set it up to post when I knew I’d be away and wouldn’t be able to see how it was received. When I finally did see the responses to this post, all of them were positive and from people who agreed with me. It’s become my favorite post in the series and still seems to serve as a great primer for people who don’t ship Nalu.
Though I’m kind of sad that a lot of the stuff I talked about in that post regarding the development of Nalu and fandom habits haven’t changed almost four years since I first posted it. When I went to make the sequel for this post, I was shocked how little fandom changed and how stuff inside and outside of canon seemed to embolden fandom to be worse about other actions over abour 18 months. Though, I didn’t hate Nalu when I made this post, even as I stopped wanting to ship it around that time.
#5. Opinion I’ll Probably get Stoned For #100 [originally posted April 29, 2016]
I really have to get back to making these. “Opinions I’ll Probably get Stoned For” was the series I was known for starting less than two months into making this blog. It’s a series where I drop spicy takes ranging from Sweet Bell Pepper to California Reaper. I’ve gotten into it with fans over more than a few of the posts in this series. However, my favorite of the series is one of the longest editions in the series.
Months before posting this, I remember seeing one of my favorite Graytear bloggers get into trouble with Gruvia shippers. One point brought up that particularly pissed me off was the moment that Gray was about to used Iced Shell against Silver. According to the Gruva shipper, the fact that the panel remembering Juvia is bigger than the panel remembering Ultear showed enough of Mashima’s priorities. This argument literally made me sick to my stomach. For months, I’d privately joke that this proved the exact opposite: Gray went through with Iced Shell because he remembered Juvia.
To celebrate hitting the milestone of 100 posts in that series, I decided to make a longer version of the series and explain my thoughts in depth. As soon as I had the idea, I knew that had to be the one. My favorite thing about this post is that, despite clarifying that I’m not terribly serious about this argument twice in the post, I actually got blocked by a Gruvia fan over this post. I guess they didn’t see it as that funny of a joke. Weird how that works.
#4. Nali Week: Scars and Unkept Promises [originally posted July 24, 2016]
Every once in a while, someone will make the remark to the effect of “People should stop complaining about the ships they don’t like and make stuff for the ships they do like”. Thank goodness no one has actually said that in regard to my posts. As much fun as I’ve had over the years complaining about the stuff I don’t like in Fairy Tail and its fandom, I do make a point to talk about the stuff I do like and why every now and then. While the series was running, ship weeks usually meant meta posts from me and this is my favorite of them.
This post was born from my own musings about how the anime dealt with Natsu and Lisanna’s relationship. I wanted to talk about its handing through the perspective of Lisanna being an important person Natsu lost and how that works with his desire to see Igneel again. The big moments I draw on is his promise in episode 75 where Lisanna asks Natsu to save her if she ever gets lost and their reunion in episode 79.
The perspective I took in that post is one I don’t really take a lot. I’m not arguing against an idea a lot of people in fandom agree with. I’m not even really arguing that my perspective is the correct perspective. I’m explaining the thought process that Natsu, as I interpret him, has regarding someone he cares about. The stuff I talked about in this post has become part of my interpretation of Natsu and traces of it can be seen in a lot of the posts I’ve made since. We have to bring Nali Week back.
#3. An Open Letter to the Nalu Fandom [originally posted October 1, 2017]
I love satire as a rhetorical tool. I love taking an idea I disagree with to so large an extreme that the problems with it are obvious to even the people who agree with it. While many of my posts have drips of sarcasm and irony, I love making an entire post based on the idea of pointing out the problems with an argument. Consider that I’ve done similar things with Opinion #100 and, to an extent, my most recent story.
The trick is finding something with problems that are so glaringly obvious, you can’t imagine people actually taking its side. In the case of this post, it was a hilarious letter addressed to the “anti-Nalu’s”. Apparently, the idea that people openly didn’t like Nalu got on “the nerve of every last one of their pussy hair“. So they wrote a short letter they meant for fans who don’t like Nalu to read. I would give them a pass becasue they were apparently on their period, but they were defending those Twitter pics of Natsu and Lucy on chain leashes.
It’s worth mentioning that this was a few months after the original series ended. I had been trying hard not to make a post about Nalu and the stupid things I saw their fandom do. I didn’t even talk about the pictures they were defending. When I made this post, I figured that I was probably not going to be making many more posts about Nalu for a while. So I decided to throw in every issue I had with the Nalu fandom between talking about it a year earlier and then.
As you can probably tell, I haven’t stopped complaining about Nalu and its fandom. This post seems to have set the tone for how I would deal with the ship and its fandom this side of the ending. Instead of pointing to why a ship fails for me, I’ve been talking about why others should have expected the ship to fail. And, if recent events are a sign of the future, it seems like I’m going to have stuff to say about it for a while. Yay?
#2. Why was Ichiruki Popular? [originally posted July 6, 2018]
What does it say that this post is among my top 10, both on this list and in terms of most notes on a post on this blog? This is a Fairy Tail blog for crying out loud. I shouldn’t be able to get so much attention for talking about a series that isn’t Fairy Tail. It almost certainly shouldn’t get more attention than most of my posts about Fairy Tail. A few people even liked and reblogged it this week.
Then again, this wasn’t my first time talking about other series. I’d already spent time talking about Rave Master, Naruto, and Monster Soul on this blog. I asked my followers if it would be cool if I spent time talking about other series, now that Fairy Tail had ended. Since I got a fairly decent response I decided to talk about a few series, including Bleach.
I got into reading Bleach about a year before it ended. At the time, I was following people who were already into it and was well aware of the popularity of Ichiruki and infamy of its fandom. I was fairly behind but I didn’t see much reason to ship Ichiruki when it ended and I saw the fan meltdowns. Imagine my shock when I got to the end and felt exactly the same about its chances when Rukia said Ichigo’s just her friend. I made this post to vent.
If I started reading Bleach about a year before getting into Fairy Tail, I likely would have been a Bleach blogger. This post served as an interesting glimpse into what that timeline might look like. It’s also one of the few posts that sparked actually interesting responses. While many have pointed to the anime as a reason for its fan popularity, I can’t tell how the staff came to the conclusion that Ichiruki needed to be portrayed as more romantic than in the manga.
#1. I’m late to the “Nalu wasn’t the original plan” party, aren’t I? [originaly posted December 10, 2016]
I’ve made a lot of posts on this blog. I’ve said a lot of things, done a lot of analysis and meta, and shared a lot of opinions here. And yet, I can’t say that too much of the stuff I’ve said is important. Not to say that my insight into certain topics isn’t appreciated. It’s just that much of what I’ve said over the years, even in some of the posts on this list, likely has been and would have been said by anyone else if I didn’t say it. The biggest exception to that has been this post.
A few months before this post, there was a leaked image of Mashima’s afterword in Fairy Tail S regarding the extra chapter Special Request, which happens to be one of my favorite chapters in the series. In it, he admitted that he didn’t originally plan on writing Natsu and Lucy’s relationship as romantic and was currently writing them as somewhere between friends and lovers.
When I first saw it as an image on a Tumblr post, I was extremely hesitant to say anything about it. I didn’t know about Fairy Tail S and assumed it was a troll. When it was confirmed by another blog, and it source was ultimately verified, it was a dream come true. Mashima had vindicated my thoughts on the ship literal months after my big post on Nalu. And yet, not many people were talking about what this actually meant for Fairy Tail and the fandom moving forward. So came this post.
In many ways, I’m still shocked that I still have to point people to this afterword and what it means for Fairy Tail. I’m sure many people know Mashima didn’t plan on making Nalu happen, but I doubt many people understand that fandom is outright incorrect to say that Nalu hsa been obvious from the jump. In a weird connection to the previous post, Mashima’s comments on Nalu are similar to comments Tite Kubo made regarding his writing Ichiruki. Even now, it’s hard to say that Nalu will become canon knowing Mashima’s original intents.
Of the most important thing to come from this post, this marked the start of me starting to hate Nalu. Up to this point, I went from being indifferent to it to not liking it. However, once this came to light, I came to actually hate the idea of Nalu as romantic. I’ve had even less patience for the fandom that made itself near synonymous with the Fairy Tail fandom at large on every site ever. I doubt that will change anytime soon and I’m not sure if that’s a bad thing anymore.
Well, that’s my list of my favorite posts. I’m sure you guys have favorites among my posts and maybe some of them are on this list. If you want to see more of my other personal favorite posts and reblogs, I’ve tagged all of them as fav on my blog, including this one. Here’s to 5 more years of whatever the heck I’m doing on this blog!
See you!

An Ireland Getaway Part 1
Paring: Gerard (Gerry) Butler x You-Reader
Warnings: None in this part
Summary: Gerry wants to take you on a holiday.
@thestorybookmistress @thathipstaninja @raewritesfiction @louise-buchan @downtowngirlkate @evenwhen-ihadnothing-ihadbu-blog @kyber-hearts-and-stardust-souls @sideeffectsofyou @imgoldielikehawn @laketaj24 @dewy-biitch  @loey-bae @itsmeauntie @esoltis280 @anahgem94 @sploodgebucketlu @shipping-not-sailing @deepestfirefun @drummerhornet @its-remy-not-ratatouille @fizzyxcustard
“You wanna do what, Gerry? You seriously wanna take two weeks off and disappear from the world with just me in the Ireland County side?” You said in disbelief to your boyfriend of 3.5 years the one and only Gerard Butler(those closes to him just call him Gerry). Gerry is always busy with filming or charity work, you two get time together but not where its just you and him, with no phones, pagers, scripts etc. Although it has been hard over the years but you two have made it work because you both want this to work.
“Yes, I just want some time with you alone in a cabin in the middle of nowhere.” He said, I looked at him weird and he laughs at my expression and says that sounded better in my head and no so creepy. He continues saying he rented out a one bedroom cottage in Cootehill, Ireland, he then mentions that you two will be leaving tomorrow morning from Glasgow. You say “I cannot just up and go on vacation without asking for time off.... plus I don’t even think I have two weeks of vacation time.” Gerry says that he has taken care of it, and asked your boss if he can take her away for a couple weeks. “OK, lets go on vacation. I cannot wait to spend sometime with just you. “
Tumblr media
You two had your bags packed and in the trunk ready to go in the morning (4:30 in the morning you were about to find out). The two of you were laying in your California King Bed under a cathedral style window in your two story county house, you two lived on the outskirts of Glasgow, where neighbours where close but far enough away that you had privacy. Gerry never had curtains in the bedroom even when you moved in with him, you tried to convince him to put curtains up but he refused saying that he like the moon and stars shining down on him and love seeing the moon shine down on you when you were sleeping. There wasn’t many nights that you and Gerry would not have sex when he was home, if you had it your way you would do it three times a day. There was no worry about babies, when you were 20 you had to have a hysterectomy because due to early signs of cancer, the only thing they left was your tubes this way you wouldn’t be on estrogen medication for the rest of your life. Gerry was the only guy who didn’t leave when you told him you couldn’t have kids, he told you it didn’t bother him as he was fine not having kids.
Tonight though no mater what you did wether you straddled him grinding your hips against him, while kissing he, nipping his ears which always got him. You were getting more and more frustrated by the minute. “Babe we need to get some sleep, we have to be up at 4:30 and be at the airport by 5:30.” Gerry says. You look at him almost in anger and disbelief and say “You do realize how hard it’s going for me to get up at 4:30am even more so now that I am super horny and won’t fall asleep right away. Why on earth would you wait tell NOW to tell me that Gerry!” You look at him with all the seriousness and say “if I cannot have that pointing to his crotch, I want your fingers!” ...... TBC 😁😁
Any and every kind of feed back is welcome I appreciate the good and the bad. Should have part two up in a couple of days.

summer reflection
remarkable that 12 weeks have passed so fast. 10/10 would not recommend the whole time passing thing. Main reason is you end up sad because something that was fun is over because time passes, like what even
once again, cannot speak highly enough about my summer experience and the people i met. I feel like last year I met a lot of other interns, but this year I mostly got to know my team a lot more! Got a chance to read my post from last year, and I’m pretty sure I bothered my host even. more. this year with questions literally all the time!! so thats amazing
I definitely feel like last year was a lot of “oh my god what is happening WOW THIS IS ACTULALY HAPPENING wait what is happening OH MY GOD ITS HAPPENING” but like for 11 weeks straight with little pause, and this year was a lot more "ah yes i feel more like a Full Time Adult” because I was more primarily hanging out with my team rather than other interns, and my project also felt like a much more complex thing that i had more ownership over. Which was cool! we stan personal growth
I would say that looking back, I think I should’ve set more clear goals for myself because having literally had like four days in between the start of my internship and the end of final exams, I didn’t really have any concrete mental preparation going in, and once I was there, it mostly just like “Ah. I’m here. What now,” especially since I had interned there last summer as well. But even on the first day, I knew that the summer had a lot of potential to be more involved than last, mostly because I was actually. sitting. with my. team. (a ConcEPt) and they seemed to talk to each other. at full volume. reMarkaBLE. Overall, I would say the whole experience was cool because part of it kinda gave off startup-y vibes (we had /basically/ our own half-floor/conference room/phone room, and there were only 20 Photos folks in our whole office), but still you felt like part of a larger larger org, like in conference calls and office-wide events and other infra stuff.
anyways, felt like this summer was more team-focused rather than company-focused, which was a different feel from last summer, but would rec! really could see myself coming back full time to the team, but got a couple more years to go first :D
cool stuff that happened in the last eight weeks of my internship (since my first post was the first four weeks)
went to some vegan food festival in cambridge
played basketball a bunch of times with some local alums
volunteered at a local org called Cradles to Crayons, who basically puts together care packages for underprivileged kids in the Boston area
filmed a vlog. or two
worked on a hammock
drank kombucha
the great california trip of 2019
went to a red sox game. we hit so many home runs!
went to canobie lake park for the CAM office outing
met some youtubers! (gaby and allison, from just between us, or buzzfeed)
saw dear evan hansen. yes i cried a lot. but also before this we went to this great italian place in kendall called sulmona and had a delicious cheese board. i really do think this was a strong highlight of the summer
went to revere beach with a friend and got spring shabu shabu at 9:30pm at night
saw the farewell with some people from my team. continued to cry some more. we then ate ice cream and hot fudge we found in the office straight from the container
n e w y o r k
had 4 mock interviews. was slightly stressed
Theres no better place but here to mention the gochujang grilled cheese. some smart person decided it was a great idea to put gochujang in grilled cheese. this was an ingenious idea
Made a photobook filled with memes for my host. Shipped it to my dorm, but forgot that i was a) moving out of the dorm, likely before it would ship and b) very possibly leaving the country before it would arrive. continued to be slightly stressed
made dumplings at a team offsite. got flashbacks to when i was a child making dumplings and got shamed for not wrapping them well
formal friday! and cake
went on a boat cruise in the harbor! but not before our bus driver got lost and proceeded to drive 3 times around south station and then twice around the entire seaport before finally arriving 1.5 hours later when we had essentially traveled two miles
played board games. in the process might have scared the shit out of someone
my uncle/aunt/cousin came from taiwan to visit boston! we ate a lot of food
Moved dorms
got caught in an awk work situation where i almost got carded at the door during happy hour
presented my project twice. i cannot explain over text the level of memes i put in my slides, but it was good. very quality, if i say so myself. overall, was not a fool
went to gyukaku for end of internship lunch! and my manager’s manager’s manager gave me eggs from his chickens. played more board games to finish out my last day. fell out of a chair
wow that was actually quite a lot lol. anyways this summer was def a W, despite all the project challenges, MEng crises, and dealing with living by myself with most friends in other places for the first time in a hot sec. Because of the aforementioned, I think I was actually kind of stressed this summer, but I think the biggest W of this summer was definitely meeting my team, I’ve def never been in a work environment where in just 12 weeks, I was able to feel this comfortable being myself and to laugh and have fun. anyways, I’ll leave it at that, the next few posts will probably be “Why I decided to MEng”, “interior decorating to avoid responsibilities”, “top 10 recs to start out freshman year” and “semester 4.1 preview”!

Catherine found him hours later, working through everything he now knew, and everything he felt.  He surprised himself, how little anger there was with the conclusion of things.  The news of Dutch’s execution was bitter, but not as painful as the reflection on his betrayal of everything he’d held dear and taught them in exchange for everything he’d told them to deplore.  In the end, the man who’d been hanged, Arthur supposed, was not the man he’d grown to love.  If that man had ever existed in the first place...
“You haven’t told me your decision,” The lady said softly, taking a seat by the fire next to Arthur who closed his journal as she did so.
“Mrs. Cornwall… seein’ as you’ve been gettin’ letters from everyone, you surely know already that I’ve got TB.” He replied quietly, “So I ain’t gonna be any good for any sort of job you might offer me for long, and I ain’t got much use for your six thousand dollars.”
“Mister Morgan,” She answered in a similar tone, “you aren’t dead yet, and while that remains true, I have invested interest in how you want to spend your remaining days.  All I’ve offered are tools to go about securing that future.  If they’re insufficient, I am open to suggestions.”
He didn’t have any, really.  What he’d wanted, starting out, was more or less already around him.  It seemed she’d been genuine, and the people he cared for, who were still alive, were safe, and would remain safe for some years yet, if they were wise.  He hadn’t planned any further than this.  He supposed he hadn’t expected to live this long.
When his silence lingered too long, Catherine spoke again, “May I make a suggestion..?”
“... May as well,” He sighed.
“Come with me.”
“To California?  Sure--”
“To my house.  Stay with me.”
Feeling his back teeth grind, Arthur shook his head, “...Last thing I want is to spend my lingering days tucked up in a fancy bed all hours--”
“--Then don’t.  The estate has a stables and three orchards, a vineyard and wine press, two workshops, miles of hunting and trails, two or three streams.  Indoors, I’ve managed to collect the largest private library west of the Lanahachee River.  There’s also a gaming room where the men like to play cards three nights a week.  Spend your time how you want.  I just… I want you there.”
Meeting her eyes, he saw that she meant it, and not from a place of pity. “...It sounds real fine...”
“It should,” She said softly, “I had you in mind when I had it built.”
He slept most of the train journey, truth be told, in the private sleeper car she’d had made for them, just behind their private passenger car-- where they were all seated in comfort.  He was informed afterwards by John, Uncle, and Miss Grimshaw, that the journey had been a peaceful one.  Jack was excited about his chance to go up to the engine car with the engineer, and to pull the whistle.  He spent the next week telling his parents he was going to be a train engineer and a gunslinger, and nobody would rob his trains ever.
Arthur would only really remember the morning they finished their journey over and through the mountains and into California proper, seeing the pale purplish light of dawn reflecting off the snow-capped peaks and shifting the thin mists over the rolling hill country with its carpets of wildflowers.  Catherine had stopped beside him to look out the window as well, and as the light slowly turned from purple to gold, he felt her fingers brush shyly against his before he took her hand and held it.  Only for a few moments, but the warmth of her skin and weight of the intimacy in the touch lingered long after she stepped away again.
There were a number of passengers not related to their party, and they were continuing on to San Francisco  Their own stop came not long after sunrise, and another large camp was formed and the train partially unloaded.  After the train moved on, they spent the rest of the day putting wagons back together and walking out the horses and getting everyone used to their feet again.  The horses seemed to have journeyed well, despite most of them not having been packed for shipping before.  The following morning, the smaller group of them-- the remnants of the Van der Linde gang, Mrs. Cornwall, Barnabas, and some of his men-- rode out, leaving the nervous ledger man, whose name Arthur never caught, and the workers and their big tents to deal with themselves.
It was beautiful country, rolling plains of green and golden grasses in the valley and wooded foothills and towering cliffs over those.  A waterfall could be heard in the distance, even over all the horses and the wagons.
They kept a steady pace, stopping for lunch, where Catherine pointed out the town nearest her home, Flintpoint Hollow.  Arthur was paying more attention to the woman, herself.  There seemed to be a strange air coming over her, at once she seemed more nervous and more exhausted.  He wondered if she were not used to traveling days in her new life of wealth.  That didn’t seem right, though, because only a year ago, when she’d come from a similar life, she’d never seemed worn by the rigors of the outdoors.
It broke like a fever in her that evening when they arrived at the estate.  Whatever she had been anticipating, she anticipated no more, for it was upon her.  Before them was a beautiful mansion in the Spanish style in a clearing surrounded by ancient trees.  Three grooms met them to take the horses to the paddocks, and after a brief debate on the matter-- which the grooms surprisingly won-- they proceeded to the gate of the house where they were greeted by the biggest black man any of them had ever seen.  He dwarfed Arthur by at least a foot, and even at his strongest and healthiest, this man had to outweigh him by fifty or more pounds.  His clothes were clean and well-tailored, and he held himself with rigid, almost military dignity.
“Welcome home.” He opened the gate and bowed his head to Catherine, his voice deep and bass, the words rolling with an unfamiliar accent.
“Thank you, Mister Hawthorne.”
Looking them all over, Mister Hawthorne seemed to take their measure in an instant and reported to the lady, “Supper will be ready within the hour and the spare bedrooms are prepared with linens and hot water for our guests.  Will Mister Misser and his men be joining us at table?”
Barnabas spoke up, “No, that’s--”
“--Please join us for supper, Barnabas, at least.  There’s room at the table.” Catherine smiled graciously, then indicated the huge man, “My friends, this is Mister Dmitri Hawthorne.  He runs the manor.  My dear Mister Hawthorne, these are our long-awaited guests: Miss Susan Grimshaw, Miss Karen Jones, Mister Javier Escuella, Mister John Marston, Missus Abigail Marston, Mister Jack Marston, Mister Arthur Morgan, Missus Sadie Adler, and the good-natured fellow we all agree to call ‘Uncle’.”
“A distinct pleasure to finally meet in person.” The goliath responded, his tone quiet and cool, and yet there was no hint of sarcasm, either.  With one massive hand, he indicated a mousey woman in a plain dress and apron, “Miss Withiers, please take Miss Grimshaw, Miss Jones, Missus Adler, and the family Marston to their rooms so they can refresh themselves before supper, after their long journey.  Mister Escuella, Mister Morgan, Mister Uncle, I will show you your rooms, if you would follow me.  Mistress--”
“--Catherine, Dmitri.  Really.”
“--Mistress Catherine,” Mister Hawthorne continued, nonplussed, “I request you retire to your bedchambers and not your office before supper.  Mister Misser and company, I believe you know your way to the front lounge?”
“We’ll be fine, Hawthorne, thanks.” The moustached man assured him, gesturing for his men to follow him.
Inside, the mansion’s warm cream walls glowed with lamplight.  The rooms were large and airy, and though the furnishings were of good quality, they were not oppressive in their presentation, and very little was present without a clear function.  Miss Withiers led the ladies and Marstons up the central stairs while Mister Hawthorne turned to the right, pointed out the dining room-- which was already lain with about twenty place settings on a long table-- and the adjacent parlor where Barnabas and his men situated themselves to smoke with the big windows open.  They passed a few more closed doors before the big man opened the door at the corner.
“Mister Morgan, this room has been prepared for you.  If you need anything at all, there is a bell pull just inside the door, or you can ask anyone in the house.”
“... So I jus’ stay here…?” Arthur gave the goliath and the men still behind him a dubious look.
“You are welcome to go anywhere you like, but please keep in mind supper will be served shortly.”
With that they left him.
The bedroom was decently sized with large windows and access to the outdoors.  A sinfully comfortable looking bed awaited him, covers already turned down, but Arthur ignored it, as he
suspected he’d sleep right through supper if he laid down.
Not that he was hungry at all, really.  He just wanted to sit with everyone what few chances were still afforded him.
He wanted to see the Marstons flabbergasted at real silver flatware they could eat with instead of steal and fence.  He wanted to see Karen speechless to be waited on.  Susan gobsmacked with the number of courses in the meal.  Javier praising the wine in Spanish.  He wanted Sadie to struggle to find something to be discontent with.  He even wanted Uncle to try and make up a story about how he’d once had a _finer _meal somewhere.  He wanted to see Catherine’s pale eyes smiling at them all from the head of the table over candlelight...
Decidedly avoiding the standing mirror in the corner, Arthur washed up in the basin, discovering the water was indeed heated as Hawthorne had said, and then stepped out the side door into the evening to watch and listen, taking in…his new home…?
Some time later, the big black man came to collect him for the dining room, suggesting he leave his gear in the room, but not insisting when Arthur made no move to take anything off.
The meal was everything Arthur had wanted and more.  It did not take long at all for everyone to relax warmly into each other's company with good food.  The outlaws kept a modicum of decorum in the fancy environs of their hostess, but table manners were largely overlooked and indeed ignored by everyone except the lady in question, who had been reared with them in her education.  At the very least there was no spitting or smoking at the table.
Everything was going very well until that terrible, familiar feeling clenched through Arthur’s chest like a vise and he began coughing hard and rough.  Having mind enough to step away from the table, the food, and the others, he made it only two paces before the inability to inhale clean again stole the strength from his limbs.  Inky dregs of darkness began to swallow the outside edges of his vision.  He was drowning on phlegm and blood again…
Some part of his awareness caught snatches of activity: how the voices from the table asked after him, John and Catherine getting to their feet…
Someone’s hand on his elbow just before his knees buckled.
Trying to gasp protests as somebody-- or more than one person-- lifted him to be carried.
He woke what must have been hours later, moonlight streaming in through the windows from the space between drawn curtains, and someone mopping the horrible night sweats from his face, neck, and the exposed part of his chest with a cool cloth that smelled like mint and lemon.  He knew it was Catherine from the way the fingers of her other hand smoothed through his hair at his temple.
Despite every desire to say something to her--maybe to ask her wryly if she was sure this was what she wanted in her fancy house, exhaustion and fever dragged him down again.  It was later that John told him they’d spent three days convinced they were just waiting to bury him.

Older, around forty, with a goatee and eyes so blue they sent a shiver down his spine.Stiles had the instinctive urge to back away. It didn’t add up. The guy oozed confidence, had money and was handsome. Absolutely no reason to hire a hooker, when anyone would have wept in joy to get on his dick.“How much for a night?” he asked, giving Stiles a long, calculating look.He should have just sent him away, he knew it. And talked every night, usually until Stiles passed out from exhaustion. And he called Ian Daddy sometimes when they messaged each other. No big deal.
OR
the one where Stiles runs a porn blog and has a major daddy kink, and he starts anonymously sexting with Peter without either of them realizing it. Both of them use nicknames to avoid giving out their real names on the internet, and Peter's fake name/nickname that he uses when he first starts talking to Stiles is "Ian" because I'm garbage. Expect errors and poor formatting because I'm betaless.

Not Meek, Not Biddable, Too Unconventional So Very Stiles
Author: ladyoneill
Summary: In a world where Betas have become the norm, but Alphas are still the leaders, the wealthy, the powerful, Omegas are very rare and the only ones who can birth or sire Alphas with other Alphas. Born to two Betas, raised as a Beta, of course Stiles presents as an Omega on his sixteenth birthday because his life sucks that way. One month later is his ceremony where technically he chooses an Alpha as his mate for the rest of their lives, and Stiles is given three options. One isn't ever going to happen, a second doesn't really want him, so he chooses the third--a man twice his age, scarred and just out of a six year coma. Scared, because he has very few rights and this stranger can do anything to him, control any aspect of his life, and Stiles isn't a stereotypical submissive Omega happy to be home ironing shirts and suckling babies, he's surprised to find that Peter isn't a stereotype either (for one, he's a damn good cook). Is it possible that his life won't suck that much after all?
Whose Woods These Are
Author: moonstalker24
Summary: Stiles chooses the house simply because it’s far enough out in the wilderness to be away. His… reticence for human contact on any given day coincides entirely with how much pain he’s in when he wakes up the morning. His patience is limited, and he has more bad days than good… So Stiles moves into an old house out in the woods like a creepy serial killer. Reminds himself that other people suck on a regular basis and just sort of gets on with it… It isn’t until after several sightings that Stiles realizes that the wolf is following him. If the wolf decides it wants to eat him, Stiles would be a pretty easy meal….
A Little Too Ironic
Author: RebaK1tten
Summary: Stiles is an omega who needs to find a trusted alpha, purely for legal reasons. Peter Hale is probably not his first choice.
Love What is Behind You
Author: KouriArashi
Summary: Basically what it says on the label. Hunger Games type fusion. Stiles doing way better than anyone anticipates. Peter finds him intriguing. Ruthless, devious assholes working together to ruin bad guys, as the Steter ship is meant to be.
Misconception
Author: TriscuitsandSoup
Summary: After weeks of trying Stiles is still unable to get pregnant. He struggles with depression and anxiety, and worries his alphas might choose to leave him for another omega.“Oh god,” he breathed, fumbling out another test from the box. He almost dropped it twice. Twenty minutes later he had another result, just as conclusive as the first. Not pregnant. Not pregnant. Not pregnant.
I Don’t Like You, But I Love You
Author: sweetbutterbliss
Summary: He smells him before he sees him, the scent competing over the sticky smell of stale beer and sweat. It smells like burnt sugar, a little bitter mixed in with the sweetness. He leaves the paperwork on the desk and steps out of his office, passing the bathrooms that he can tell Erica still hasn't cleaned.A lithe, what Peter could only describe as a boy is standing in the middle of the empty bar, one hand gripping the dolly's handle full of boxes of Hair of the Dog; one of the few werewolf beers that doesn't taste of ass. (And Peter would know.) His mouth is slightly parted as he surveys the bar and Peter suppressed thoughts of what he could put in that mouth.

Dr A.I. will see you now — The age of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
Google DeepMind’s breakthrough might help save the sight of millions around the world.

“I’ve seen things you wouldn’t believe…”
Had he spent more time scrutinising millions of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scans rather than attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion, perhaps Dr Roy Batty might have been the most eminent Medical Retina specialist of Ridley Scott’s fictional 2019.
Philip K. Dick’s dystopian vision was penned in 1968 and later adapted into a neo-noir masterpiece by Scott in 1982. The synthetic beings of his tale, outwardly identical to adult humans, have been created in order to replace humans in performing menial or undesirable jobs. Their only deficiencies seemingly being a lack of emotional range and a four-year life span. The themes of humanity and identity continue to resonate despite the decades which have passed since the short story was written.
We are still a long way from androids replacing any profession, let alone doctors or nurses. Nevertheless, a potentially monumental triumph in the application of AI technology in medicine has just materialised, the fruits of which might benefit millions worldwide.
Two London-based teams have collaborated to develop AI technology which can analyse OCT retinal scans and detect a number of eye conditions, then triage those patients who are in need of urgent care. Google’s DeepMind team, spearheaded by Jeffrey De Fauw, have applied a neural network learning system which matches highly experienced doctors and reduces sight loss by minimising the time between detection and treatment. This delay in referral for treatment still causes many people to go blind.
Tumblr media
Pearse Keane, lead clinician for the project at Moorfields Eye Hospital, describes DeepMind’s algorithm:
“As good, or maybe even a little bit better, than world-leading consultant ophthalmologists at Moorfields in saying what is wrong in these OCT scans”
Artificial Brains — From Chess to Go
Google’s DeepMind, founded in 2010 in the UK and later acquired by Google, seeks to build powerful general-purpose learning algorithms and uncover the mystery of intelligence. Thus-far, its greatest tangible successes had been in defeating humans in games.
Perhaps its landmark gaming victory came in 2016 when DeepMind’s AlphaGo beat high-ranked Go player Lee Sedol 4–1 in a five-game match by using a supervised learning protocol, watching and analysing large numbers of games between humans. Despite the resounding triumph of machine over man in the ancient strategy board game, DeepMind has to thank its ancestor, IBM’s Deep Blue, for the first of such victories.
Tumblr media

In 1996, world chess champion Garry Kasparov beat Deep Blue 4–2. One year later, Deep Blue came back for revenge and beet Kasparov 3½–2½. The message was clear, artificial intelligence was catching up the human intelligence. Yet Deep Blue’s algorithm depended on “brute computational force”, evaluating millions of positions. That works fine for chess, in which there are 20 possible opening moves. Go, a game originating in China almost 2500 years ago, has 361 possible opening moves on its 19x19 grid. It is so large that no AI can currently explore every possibility using Deep Blue’s “brute force” method.

DeepMind’s AlphaGo, on the other hand, works on a combination of different elements which are meant to mimic human decision-making. The algorithm was developed by DeepMind co-founder Demis Hassabis and consists of a number of phases which include supervised learning (being trained by analysing games between human experts), reinforcement learning (playing itself millions of times and maximising expected winning outcomes), “intuition” rollout policy (predicting how a human would play), Value network learning (quantifying the chances of success) and an algorithm which brings all these together called a “Monte Carlo tree search”.
The Age of Scans
Tumblr media

It’s all very good to beat humans at chess or Go, but what about diagnosing diseases? To find a real-world application for the human-like decision making used by DeepMind’s AlphaGo, the team at the company’s Health division looked at Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scans. This is a form of three-dimensional eye imaging which slices the retina into different layers, first introduced over two decades ago. OCT machines have come a long way since their inception and have become increasingly complex in how data is generated and presented. Nevertheless, they are used routinely by eye doctors to diagnose diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.
The publication of the work from DeepMind and Moorfields Eye Hospital in Nature this week states categorically that the algorithm performed as well as two leading retina specialists in analysing OCT scans and grading the urgency of a referral for management, with an error rate of only 5.5%. This was despite the algorithm not having access to some extra information, such as patient records, that the doctors had. The algorithm was used on two different types of OCT machines, and was also able to give confidence ratings based on aspects of the scans which it considered suggestive for diagnosis. Importantly, not a single urgent case was missed from the 14,884 scans used in the study.
Real-world application
This is just the first stage of research, although Dr Keane is confident that a final product is not too far away. DeepMind and Moorfields now need to run clinical trials of their OCT system so that doctors have the chance to test it. Mustafa Suleyman, DeepMind co-founder hopes that:
“when this is ready for deployment, which will be several years away, it will end up impacting 300,000 patients per year”
The team hopes that regulators approve a final product based on the immediate tangible benefits of a reduction in time and manpower needed to manually inspect scans, make diagnoses and refer for treatment.
Practical Benefits in the Developing World
Tumblr media

AI-powered screening can have an enormous impact in hard-to-reach areas. The ubiquity of smartphones around the world makes adding a portable camera and creating an image acquisition system simple and inexpensive. Already, companies such as UK-based Peek Vision have introduced camera adapters which allow high-quality images to be obtained easily and then analysed remotely.
Companies such as California-based Compact Imaging are currently working to make small form-factor multiple reference OCT (MR-OCT) available for smartphones and wearable technologies. The combination of these compact devices and AI-powered screening software could bridge geographical and economic chasms for many of the 285 million people worldwide living with some form of sight loss.
Tumblr media
Artificial Intelligence elsewhere in health
These developments can act as a blueprint for the development of artificial intelligence elsewhere. DeepMind is currently doing research with University College London to assess whether AI can tell the difference between cancer and healthy tissue in CT and MRI scans. It is also working with Imperial College London to assess whether AI can interpret mammograms and improve accuracy in breast cancer screening.
In all these cases, the most practical benefit of using AI to screen for disease is one of resources — doctors’ time would be freed to spend more time with individual patients, and more time working on and providing treatments.
Pitfalls in AI’s Future
Tumblr media
“I did everything, everything you ever asked! I created the perfect system” Clu in Tron Legacy (2010). Credit: Disney
Back to the realms of fiction, where accounts of AI are often littered with depictions of ever-evolving intelligences which strive to be perfect, such as Marvel’s Ultron or Tron’s Clu. These AIs struggle to balance a “human” rationalisation of ethics with the necessity to achieve their goal, with Earth-threatening consequences.
Though we are far from apocalypse scenarios, DeepMind itself has already been embroiled in controversy when it emerged that 1.6 million patient data records had not been adequately safeguarded when shared between Londons Royal Free Hospital and DeepMind. Data sharing agreements between the two had to be rewritten and DeepMind has also created an “Ethics & Society” group to maintain the ethical standards of AI, and ensure that social good is prioritised during the fast-moving evolution of these technologies.
Clearly, there may be obstacles ahead that no one can predict. DeepMind’s co-founder Mustafa Suleyman highlights the extent of the challenge:
“It won’t be easy: the technology sector often falls into reductionist ways of thinking, replacing complex value judgments with a focus on simple metrics that can be tracked and optimised over time….
Getting these things right is not purely a matter of having good intentions. We need to do the hard, practical and messy work of finding out what ethical AI really means.”
A future with everything to play for
Nevertheless, Suleyman describes a future which, with the right guidance, could be aided immensely by artificial intelligence when aligned with human values:
“If we manage to get AI to work for people and the planet, then the effects could be transformational. Right now, there’s everything to play for.”

Info and Junk about my Power Rangers Fanfiction
⛔WARNING: SUPER LONG POST⛔
Like I said in my last post, I've been working on the story for two years and between that time, I've worked on the title, the characters, villains, and everything in between. And without further ado... here's the lore of the story:
The official title of the story:
Power Rangers Wing Commanders
The Plot:
Coming from another dimension, Dark Sparrow and his army of space pirates are planning to conquer earth and enslave everyone that lives on it. Now, it's up to a new team of heroes to take to the sky and save the day. They are, Power Rangers Wing Commanders.
The Setting:
The story takes place in the city of Finn Hill. A massive city in Southern California where humans and anthro animals co-exist with one another (and no, there's no beastiality). The city is also known for its landmarks and it's famous Mayor, Pheobe Tsubaki.
Tumblr media
Locations (so far):
Finn Hill High School: The main high school where Jeremy, Roy, Adrian, Kayla, and Lucy go to when they're not out saving the world from intergalactic villains and monsters. Like every other high school-they got tons of classes to go to, piles of homework to do, and dealing with annoying school bullies; all five of them almost have the same classes together and during lunch or study hall, they would always discuss strategies on how to take down one of Dark Sparrow's monsters.
W.C.O Headquarters: The Rangers' main HQ and home base of the Wing Commander Organization (or W.C.O for short). The base itself is a massive helicarrier that hovers over the entire city 24/7 and monitors for any monster attacks or unusual activity; the Rangers' zords and wing-cycles are held in the cargo bay. Once they've been activated (either by the rangers or by Professor Foxworth), they get transported to the launch bay and prepare to launch.
The Finn Hill Mall: A huge mall that is located in the downtown area of the city and is the main hangout spot for Jeremy and the others to chill and relax after a long day of being superheroes. Inside the mall, there's a local music shop that goes by the name of "Music Fever" which is owned by Kayla's father and uncle, along with that, there's also a smoothie shop that is called "Green Paw Smoothies" in which, is owned by Adrian's family.
Dark Terrarium: This is Dark Sparrow's massive spaceship and his base of operations. Inside this ship, Sparrow and his minions hatch up ideas and plans on how to destroy the power rangers, how to conquer earth, and what monsters to create. Also, the ship itself is packed to the brim with state-of-the-art weaponry and a deadly laser beam that can decimate planets.
Side Characters (So far):
Nelson Skuller/Billy Blake/Mira Thompson: A trio of school bullies that pick on the Rangers on a daily basis and just for the fun of it. But whenever they get confronted by a monster or by a couple of Nexors...they usually turn tail and run away, or even attempt to fight the odd creatures (and fail miserably). And whenever they try to pull a prank or a stunt, it always backfires on them.
Principle Bernstein: The head principal of Finn Hill High School. Due to being a brown bear, some of the students and other teachers tend to find Mr. Berenstain both "intimidating or scary". But in reality, he's a pretty kind and gentle mammal-but if he catches you causing trouble or skipping class...his mood will automatically change and he'll end up giving you either a good scolding, two weeks detention, or a possible school suspension.
Kelsey Hudson: A 16-year-old border collie who is an old childhood friend of Adrian's and a huge fan of the power rangers. When she found out Adrian was a ranger, she completely lost it and was happy for her friend (she even has a blog dedicated to the heroes); but whenever she sees Adrian or the others get hurt during a battle, she gets super anxious and worries about them a lot. After the monster is defeated and everything, she gets reassuring comfort from the rangers to let her know that they're okay and both her and the city is saved once again.
Episodes (So Far):
1. Wings of Change Pt 1:
An intergalactic space pirate named Dark Sparrow and his alien armada have arrived on earth and are on the verge of taking it over. Until an unlikely team of heroes comes together to stop them.
2. Wings of Change Pt 2:
As the Rangers get the hang of their new powers, they will need to combine them to take down Dark Sparrow’s army and the gecko monster.
3. Jurassic Terror:
When Jeremy and his class go on a field trip to the Finn Hill Natural History Museum, things turn for the worst, when Rag-Zar takes the DNA of a T-Rex fossil and creates a prehistoric monster.
4. Ranger Photoshoot:
When a magazine company interviews the rangers for a special article, Dark Sparrow hatches up a plan to make the ranger’s interview their last.
5. Cool as Blue:

26. The Younger Years: While fighting the time clock monster-Jeremy, Lucy, and Adrian got turned into kids. Now it's up to Roy, Kayla, and Ashton to change them back.
That’s all I have for right now. I’ll make a separate post for the main core team of rangers, the main villains, and other main characters. When I get the time, I’ll add more info and whatnot to this post. So until next time, have a good day/night, stay awesome, and may the power protect you!
