Undersea Alien collection by Shira S for @starfirecentral STARFIRE: A Fashion Zine

Shoutout to Per for coming up with the name actually XD

I’ve been avoiding making this post, because I have a lot to say about this collection, especially about my various inspirations as well as my design process. The former of which I’m going to try to condense underneath a cut, the latter I’m debating maybe making a second post where I show discarded design concepts/different looks I had to cut when finalizing my designs. I’m just a *teensy?* bit passionate about it all, as I put a LOT of time and thought into this collection.

WOW OKAY!!! I have WAY too much to say!!!

Initially, my idea spawned from a drawing I never finished of Kory in a mermaidcore look I designed for fun, when I was brainstorming ideas for this collection I decided to then take that further and use the ocean as my core concept. Kory’s from space which is like. unexplored and mysterious and like looks cool as shit. You can say the same about the ocean. I actually had a number of more conceptual ideas based off more specific sea creatures, alas, this IS a very small collection with limited looks, so I only did 4 underwater ones and only 2 of those being sea creatures (jellyfish)

What was also really amazing, is that around the time that I was designing these looks, Halle Bailey was doing press for the Little Mermaid movie, and when I tell you that every single red carpet I saw her step on my jaw fell open in “holy shit, that’s the vibe i want to get across” or this photoshoot she did. I’ve also used Chloe Bailey a number of times as a Kory reference and I think Halle’s face is actually perfect for her but that’s besides the point.

My last main inspiration i’ll touch upon is Miss Sohee. I think it will be obvious when I show pictures of some of her gowns, how her design aesthetic influenced me in designing the dresses my own dress. Fun fact! One of the aforementioned press tour looks was a custom miss sohee gown!! (the other one I used as inspiration is the purple one I include later)

reasons below:

at number 10, bouncer!eddie. the fight blurb + the cheating lore was a lot this week and has ranked him last as the villain.

at number 9, mafia!eddie. he initially was ahead, maybe even second row until the latest blurb. the matching pajamas and pool blurb were very redeeming, but he ultimately sunk with that one. work on communication and compromise.

at number 8, rockstar!eddie. i shouldn't punish him for being in rehab bc he is getting better, unfortunately you hurt nb. the ten page letter did help and he's working hard, but still has a lot of work before he can regain our trust.

at number 7, cowboy!eddie. very flirty and i almost had him on the third row, but he's been a little too mean for my liking this week. i need to be coddled sometimes and need attention, that he did not give me. work on time management and reading a room, but keep wearing tight jeans and band tees.

at number 6, boxer!eddie. this ranking was because of the fluff that he gave us this week with the blurb. i love his mean, stoic, "i'm so serious" attitude but i'm weak at the knees at him being a little playful and silly in the privacy of his relationship. very intimate, channel that more.

at number 5, dom!eddie. secured spot number five with the sweet cuddling and babying he did this week. also for his creativity making the spreader. off to a very good start, i expect more from him bc right now he's playing it safe and staying out of the spotlight.

at number four, modern!eddie. was going to be lower bc of the lotion incident, but did buy me more + a little extra bc he had some extra cash and he loves me. i wish he'd get a little bit more attention bc he has so much affection to offer and that's overlooked here. do more to stand out.

at number three, the second row, hockey!eddie. he fucking earned this spot too?? almost was number two overall with the surgery blurb and the surprise??? very doting and a little nervous and sweet. he and older!eddie were neck and neck. love the silly goofy lover boy with a touch of chaos, want to see more of it.

at number two, older!eddie. the cursing blurb really secured him number one. the fact that he stayed loving and doting in both scenarios but can now be himself since he's in a happier place???? fuck gina, he's come out on top. plus my older eddie inspo love irl came in to see me today and made me melt, that might have been the deciding factor.

at number one, a shock to no one at all- janitor!eddie. the "i knew you'd like that" blurb had him winning by a landslide, but then he said- no get you somebody who can do both and went the sweetest route of all time. no competition, he's the rightful number one of this week. keep it up, we love you angel king.

At first, Lucy Saxon was a faithful wife to the Master and seemed to initially share an affectionate relationship with him, nicknaming him "Harry". When the Master took over the Earth, Lucy stood by him loyally, seeming neither shocked nor frightened by her husband's actions. However she was shaken by the murder of Vivien Rook, though this was because Vivien was one of a small number of people who were able to resist the Master's hypnotic influence, and she was reassured by the Master it wouldn't matter soon.

Lucy usually kept her feelings to herself and showed little emotion when the Master ordered the Toclafane to murder one tenth of the human race. Nevertheless, she did apologise to Vivien Rook just before she was murdered by the Toclafane.

Lucy explained that when the Master took her to the end of the universe she became aware of the futility of life, believing it to be meaningless. During "the year that never was", her relationship with the Time Lord deteriorated, and he became physically abusive, causing Lucy to lose her feelings for him. As the year progressed, she gained a haunted look and became far less at ease, so much so that, after he was defeated, Lucy took her chance and shot him.

Vivien Rook referred to Lucy as being from a good family, but claimed that she was not especially bright and essentially harmless, statements she later echoed, stating that, although she was not especially bright, her family had contacts. However, her "harmlessness" was lost in the year that never was, allowing her to shoot the Master after he was defeated and to sabotage his resurrection. By that point, Lucy had descended into a bitter, vindictive woman with no qualms about death if it meant the Master would join her.

BACKSTORY

Early life

The youngest child of Lord and Lady Cole of Tarminster, Lucy attended Rodean School and represented Sussex playing netball. She then went to St Andrews University and studied the Italian language. After this, she became involved with several charities before working in the publishing industry. It was here that she first met Harold Saxon who was publishing his biography at the time. They married in 2007.

With Harold Saxon

After sharing a trip with him to the end of the universe in the Doctor's TARDIS, Lucy became Saxon's partner, appearing beside him for the press and photos. Following the Master's appointment as Prime Minister, Lucy was interviewed in 10 Downing Street by Vivien Rook, who tried to convince Lucy that "Harold Saxon" was a false identity, and that whoever he was, he was putting both Lucy and everyone else in danger. When the Master appeared through a back door, Vivien tried to cover up what she had stated about him, but discovered that Lucy was well aware of how fake the Master's "Harold Saxon" identity was, and was killed by a group of Toclafane before she could leave. Lucy was upset and shaken by Vivien's screams

On the day of the Toclafane invasion, Lucy appeared eager for the fulfilment of the Master's true intent. When the Toclafane appeared and killed American President Arthur Coleman Winters, she showed no signs of fear or alarm and remained calm throughout the entire duration of the events. She joined the Master on the bridge when the sky above the Valiant ripped open and the Doctor was aged, seemingly enjoying the sight of the Toclafane flying down and killing one tenth of the human race.

The Year That Never Was

Over the year of the Master's reign, Lucy became cold towards him due to abuse she received at his hands, prompting her to join in when the world started to chant the word "Doctor." When the Master, realising his plan had failed, tried to escape, she witnessed Francine Jones raise a gun in his direction, and when the Doctor and Jack Harkness stopped her, unseen, Lucy took the gun herself and shot him, wounding him fatally. Jack managed to disarm her, leaving her motionless, looking on with a cold, emotionless stare at the man who had broken her. After she witnessed the Master refuse to regenerate from the gunshot wound when he realised that the Doctor would keep him permanently confined to his TARDIS, Lucy was arrested and later charged with his murder. Her trial was held in secret and without a jury, and, found guilty, she was sent to Broadfell Prison where she began serving a life sentence.

Imprisonment and revenge

On Christmas Eve night in or around the 2000s, Lucy was released from her cell by her prison's new Governor, and brought to the basement, where a cult of the Master's loyal servants was implementing a ritual to restore him to life. One element necessary to the ritual was the Master's bio-metric imprint, something that could be extracted from Lucy's lips due to the many times that he had kissed her. To her horror, the ritual succeeded, and the partially-restored Master began draining his servants of their lifeforce. Before the Master's body was completely restored however, Lucy revealed to her former husband that she had long been aware of the ritual and had had her father's scientists develop an opposite to one of the life-restoring potions used in his resurrection. Given the potion by one of the guards, she hurled it at the Master, creating an explosion that destroyed the prison.

Lucy herself managed to survive the wreckage. She was found by Unit under rubble, clinging to life. She was badly injured and several broken bones. It was a hard road to recovery and even longer mentally. Unit offered her a position with them, but Lucy wanted to get as far away from all that as she could. She retreated to the country side, trying to put her life back to some semblance of normalcy.

hi, of course! anything that has ‘.core’ at the end is just a tag I use for posts or photos that remind me of that person, almost like inspo!

for characters, it will just be their names like ‘james.core’ for james potter or ‘steve.core’ for steve harrington

however, for athletes it’s a little different. it will be their initials and then their number, so ‘nh13’ is nico hischier who wears the number 13 or ‘ln4’ is lando norris who wears the number 4

I'll answer for the books that have actual comps, because otherwise... there's no comp because the books are unreadable LMAO (love them very much <3)

The Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken

I LOVE Alex, and these books kind of consumed my life as a kid!

Slated trilogy by Teri Terry

Pretty much the early Fostered books are TDM + Slated smushed together <3 I was such a Slated girlie, lmao

Books 4-6 just don't have any vibes, lmao!!! so no comps there!

Moth Work and Feeding Habits should have comps in theory, but I actually haven't personally read anything like them (though I'm sure books exist out there, I just don't know!). They're so niche in a way that it's hard to find a comp, lol! They are very much both like each other though!

Seventh Virtue

Lore by Alexandra Bracken

I realize now that this is just me expressing how much I love and support Alex's writing lmao, but this was the FIRST fantasy book I've read in a loooong time, and I read it coinciding with when I started SV, so it was super helpful for understanding the genre, especially since it's also contemp. fantasy and takes place in NYC! I'm thinking of re-reading it or getting the audiobook too since I'd like to revisit it!

Bitterblue by Kristen Cashore

This is an old favourite that I read when I was 12 or so, but I LOVE THIS BOOK! It's literally... literary fiction lmao, but fantasy for teenagers! I've read it so many times that I don't know the exact number. This is more high fantasy I believe, BUT the structure is sooo Seventh Virtue--lots of mini plots, larger cast of characters, very slow and ambling but in a fun way. If I could write this book, I would! Bitterblue as a character reminds me a lot of Reeve, haha. I just re-read this book in the fall, and I’m going to listen to it again because I just love it so much!

Six of Crows & Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

New inspo for me since I read them in the fall, but I LOVE THESE BOOKS SM!!! I'm so late to the train, lmao, but the Netflix adaptation of Shadow & Bone initially prompted me to write SV, so it's only fitting that I love these books! They both share bird imagery in common, which I obviously love, and there's also an ensemble cast. I want to actually read this book since I listened to the fabulous audiobook, but I'd like to get a stronger grasp on Leigh Bardguo's craft which was so good it made me insecure for the first time in years, lmao yaaaas <3

I funnily don’t have any adult recs because I haven’t read any adult fantasy, so if you have recs, especially if they’re contemp. fantasy, send them my way!

Also, if anyone has anymore questions about my books, feel free to send them because I’ve been having a hard last couple days, and talking about my book makes me feel better, lol!

Place of words 1

I began this brief by picking out two words from two boxes. One box was full of words and the other had the words context. My first word was collection and the context given was technological. I used the app Miro to help me list 20 words I associate with collection and 20 that I associate with technological and used images to start creating inspiration.

My initial ideas came from the two lists I created using Miro. These topics were ones which I felt that I could create good imagery from as well as find an interesting article.

Image making workshop

Today I brought in 4 secondary sourced images to help me to create my images. The photos I brought were of Tesla crashes, AI and robots. I thought that they would be suitable for an image-making workshop as lots was going on in the photos so I could pull out my favourite elements I used the photos as a starting point to help me create my images. I believe my most successful piece was the Lino print and I wish to further explore this method moving forward. If I had more time I would try to create further outcomes.

I used triangles and squares of different sizes to create tanagrams. I feel that using the lino was my favourite outcome as it looked the most refined and detailed. I created a collage of a car as well as painting a section from another of my secondary sourced images. I liked collaging as the imperfect shapes layered became something more interesting to look at once layed down.

I started looking at front cover inspiration but felt like it was more appropriate for a poster than a magazine. I will create some quick imagery and see if anything stands out to me whilst I am image-making and use that for the front page. I will also look into colour palettes which I think will suit the magazine.

In this Find The Grid workshop we worked in numbered groups to create the grids on a larger scale using tape and a large blank space. I had several roles within the group, such as calculating widths and lengths and applying tape to the wall. I enjoyed working as a group as everyone got involved and it was interesting to see how other people applied their strengths to this exercise. My favourite part of the exercise was being able to talk to others in my group and compare thoughts about how we wish to tackle the task.

If I were to do this activity again, I would make sure that we spent more time trying to split up roles rather than completely working as a group as it slowed us down quite a bit. I was glad that the maths wasn't too hard as I don't particularly enjoy doing it, however, I would now know what to do if I wasn’t working as a group.

Grid inspo

I took several photos from Pinterest to help me with research towards my magazine. I was enticed by the colours and large fonts which take up a large portion of the grid. When I create my magazine I want to have a lot of colour to reflect my enjoyment of the subject. I did this research to help me better understand how grids can be used effectively. I also noticed that some of the pages I looked at didn't follow the use of grids which interested me as they layered photos with lino print.

Primary Research

I went to the library to have a look at colours and textures that they have to offer. I had a look through colour swatches for some inspiration and learned a great deal about the impact of different colour combinations and textures on design. This experience helped me to understand how to create more visually appealing designs. Being able to feel textures and see colours, provided valuable insights that I was able to incorporate into my work. I also enjoyed experiencing the colours true shades and tones which vary from the ones you may find on your screen. It enhanced my ability to create visually appealing and cohesive designs by giving me a clearer understanding of colour dynamics.

Are you normal or are you just thinking about this trailer clip probably being foreshadowing?

Like ... we see the obvious pattern. Blank spaces 3+5 =8 (kali) and 5+6=11 (el). We have a red 8 ball (kali) and the 7 +4 balls add up to 11 (el)too. Tbh this seems obvious to me and I predicted the 2 would face brenner again as a team (before the trailer released).

But ,let's focus on one scene in particular: the whole sinister music ,clock ticking, builds up . The kid drops the red ball - than we see a magic 8 (kali) ball say "all signs point to yes" a kid put blocks together (they really stretch the scene to build up suspense before we see where that 1 single red ball falls. And what number slot does it fall into...

...7 . Now is it a coincidence that for Will 7s are usually associated with being k*dnapped ( " it was a 7 the demogrogan it got me")? Possibly - but it could be a hint that all 3 will be captured by Brenner- maybe by the end of the season. s1 brenner showed interest in Will. And Mike initially assumed and said " what if the same bad men took Will"? In s2 Hawkins lab monitor his brain waves and record him on video (like el), etc.Even his b day march 22 (3+2+2 =7).

And if you think its a stretch with numbers-this trailer shows the clock read 3am for the "witching hour".

ps witches, Mages (mike called el this) , and wizards (Will) are all considered interchangeable terms.”In the Western Christian tradition, the hour between 3 and 4 a.m. was considered a period of peak supernatural activity – this time is also referred to as the "Devil's hour" due to it being a mocking inversion of the time in which Jesus supposedly died, which was at 3 pm.” So i also think it’s a a little nod/eastergg to the whole 80s christian satanic panic/possible easter holiday in s4 too. People who were part of the ‘satanic panic’ would not think powers are cool- but demonic like most people involved in witch hunts historically (who said withches were in league with the devil- like the carrie film/book too -that is st inspo) . Kali even warned el- most people would think they’re monsters for their powers.

So the climatic build up to 7 seems significant. Why build up to 7 if not Will related ? to make the numbers add to 11 in both the blank spots and for the red spheres -like kali? For sure very possible! But could there be more than 1 reason?

In the trailer before we enter the corridor with the "11" designation. In a different hallway we first pass by 9, and 10. So who is the door next to el's if not 10... ... 12? Than who would be 12... Will?I'd recommend watching the trailer again to see the numbers on the doors i’m referring to ( I can't get a good visual).

Also as far as the 12 thing... remember how brenner's actor (Matthew modine) posted this...

Like in s2- we had 11s show up as eastereggs (for and around el) and 8s around kali . But in s2 we also saw 12s show up around Will too- talked about it here.

Plus, The Will comic- referenced ‘house of stairs’ (Will throws that book at the demogorgan) .It involved a gay male teen (in love with his childhood bff) and a gal with buzzcut -being kidnapped and thrown in the facility by an evil psychiatrist who is trying to make the teens into weapons for the government. And the “into the fire” st comic had a fire wielding character with mental health issues (cough Will the wise- having fire powers/ penthurst being a psych facility) . She was stuck in Brenner’s facility- and escapes using her fire powers. So I think it’s pretty likely Will is there too.

Also let's say this is a flashback and or nightmare of El? I still wouldn't put it past the duffers to throw in easterggs that are foreshadowing in said flashback/dream.

I think Will may escape earlier, while el and kali stay and team up to face brenner once and for all in s5... maybe.

We also know the male teen in the trailer and bts looked suspiciously like Noah (Will). But we just have to wait and see...

Hello lovely people! Because I’m apparently far too emo and angsty to function when it comes to my writing, I’ve decided to explore Part 2 of the first ever 5sos writing piece I posted on tumblr “it’s not the pain they’re getting over, it’s the love”.

I’ve based part of this part 2 concept on the ode, which is a poem that’s recited at ANZAC and remembrance day celebrations here in Australia (is it blasphemous to use that as writing inspo? Soz if it offends you, I just love the ode so much). The poem is 4 lines that I’ve split into two parts and incorporated into the piece.

You thought you’d have more time. Even though you knew the clock was ticking on your mother’s mortality, you just thought you’d have more time. But then again, no amount of time would ever truly be enough. Ashton had stayed around for the weekend, and you’d found each other’s arms again as you sat in the backyard and watched the sun set, but it turns out he had press and meetings in the city on Monday (the only way he could wrangle the sudden trip home was to coordinate at least some work things) so you tried to embrace it, despite knowing his company would be short-lived.

Around lunchtime, your phone chimed with a text message from Ashton that simply read “Neverland?”, which had you grinning like an idiot. Neverland was what you called one of your teenage hideaways, a codename to stop your parents from figuring out where it was, and in your mind it was still a magical place where your hopes and dreams lived, and where your love for Ash and his kindred spirit grew and grew. In reality, it was a gathering of really old trees along a dried up creek bed behind your house, with a ripped and torn old couch you’d managed to push in from your backyard, but there was a part of your soul there, and you knew part of Ashton’s was there too, amongst the whispering leaves and the bark scratched deep with words.

You tried not to think too much about it, tried not to get too attached to the idea of spending more time with Ash, because you knew eventually he’d leave again and that distance would rip your heart into pieces once more. But you wanted to hope for more. A message here or there, or a phone call to hear his voice, or maybe one day a trip to see the world he told you about with bright, shining eyes all those years ago. Maybe with his hand holding yours, and those hazel eyes meeting yours, and just… more.

You were stuck in your daydream at the kitchen sink, idly scrubbing a cake dish from the party, when a loud beeping snapped you out of it. What was that? You’d never heard it before. Where was it coming from? You rushed out of the kitchen into the hallway, and then as you neared your mother’s bedroom the beeping got louder and louder until it was the only thing you could hear, and the only thing you could feel was the bile pushing up your throat. Opening the door, all it took was one glance and you knew. She was gone.

You don’t know how, but you’d managed to dial the numbers of the people you needed to call. First, the doctors, who needed to come and make it official with their paperwork and time of death. Second, your siblings, so they could come home to you. Third, your mother’s best friend, who answered the phone on the first ring and came straight over to hold you in her arms while you bawled like a baby. Fourth, you thought about calling your mother’s best friend’s eldest son, but you couldn’t bring yourself to press the button. You’d only had him back for a day and a half. What a cruel universe it was, to put this scenario upon you. Instead, you sent a text. “She’s gone. Neverland at 6pm x”.

The next few hours passed in a blur of tears and paperwork and soothing cups of tea. Because it wasn’t an entirely unexpected event, soon enough family friends were showing up on your doorstep, offering warm casserole dishes with hushed tones and sad eyes, and you willed yourself into strong big sister mode, thanking them for their kindness and trying your best to soothe their grief. Your siblings sat quietly in different parts of the house, not quite knowing what to do with themselves. No one wanted to eat anything quite yet, and honestly you still had that sick feeling in your stomach. With a splash of cold water to your face and a few deep breaths, you pulled on a warm jacket before stepping out the back door into the cool evening air, and slipping through the gate unnoticed.

You hadn’t been to Neverland in almost ten years, but somehow your feet knew exactly which path you needed to take. Shuffling towards the familiar trees, you could just make out Ashton’s figure in the twilight, his head in hands as he sat forward on the dusty old couch that had somehow survived years of turbulent weather outdoors. He looked up when he heard your footsteps, and you could see the puffiness in his eyes. Fuck, would everyone look at you with such sadness for the rest of your life?

You felt the tears prick in your own eyes as you neared closer, and Ash stood and opened his arms to you. You throw yourself at him and like just a few days ago, you feel the warmth and the safety and the security and you feel the part of your soul that is set on fire whenever his skin touches yours, but before you can get any words out, the sobs come hard and fast. You’re babbling incoherently, and he’s whispering sweet reassurances into your ear, and pulling you down onto the couch so he can pull you into his side and rub small circles into your back. He’s using your nickname as he tries to calm you, and slowly you feel your tears start to slow and your breathing regulate. Sniffling, you settle your head onto Ash’s chest and close your eyes.

“What is it with this place and me crying my eyes out? Last time we were here, you told me you were going to London.” You said quietly, wiping your eyes.

“That’s right… and you told me you hated me and that you never wanted to see me again.” Ash whispers, brushing your hair out of your face with a gentle hand.

You snorted, rolling your eyes. “Yeah, and that lasted all of 7 hours until I sat next to you on the bus the next morning and copied your homework.”

Ash laughed, and the sound brought warmth to your heart. Sounds cheesy, but you wanted to bottle it and hear it every day for the rest of forever. You were both silent for a moment, taking in the peacefulness of the night sky, and the hushed whispering of the trees that surrounded your little hideaway spot. You close your eyes, and breathe in. Breathe in the moment, breathe in Ashton, breathe in and breathe out all of the stress and anxiety and anguish and fear that was trying to push its way to the front of your heart and soul.

“We’ll remember her. I promise. We won’t ever forget.” Ashton says quietly, ducking his head down to meet your eyes. You smile sadly, reaching up to cup his cheek and brush your fingers over the dark circles under his eyes.

“I know. It’s okay. It’s just a lot, even though I knew it was coming.”

“Just because you expected it, doesn’t make it easier. Doesn’t mean you can’t be sad and confused and just be yourself for at least a little while. My love, you’ve had the weight of the world on your shoulders, but I need you to remember that you matter. So much. To your family and to me and I know that I’ve been gone and shit at keeping in contact and I’m so fucking sorry that I – “ You lean in and silence Ashton’s words with a soft kiss. He’s shocked at first, and then relaxes into, before pulling away and resting his forehead on yours.

“Are you trying to seduce me? Out here, on this couch?” He asks, wiggling his eyebrows.

“You wish, Irwin. Just wanted to shut you up. I know my mother just died, but we don’t have to have emo hour every hour.” You chide in response, tapping his nose and earning a laugh.

You push yourself up off the couch and step over to the big tree beside it, reaching out to run your hands over the words carved into the trunk. Your siblings’ names, and Ash’s, his initials and yours in an arrow heart, and the word “remember” in the centre of it all.

You feel Ash step up behind you, and his head rests on your shoulder and kisses your neck softly. It’s another moment, like you had in the kitchen, where your heart breaks and bursts with love and a feeling of content at the same time, but for now, it’s enough. Enough to commit to memory, and enough to get you through until the sun rises for another day.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

Of course the only thing he could do was stand by. That was what he was doing the whole time, right? When the Generation started to break apart at their seams, what did he do? Right, he just stood there with his dopey smile as his friends stopped calling one another friends and drifted to teammates instead.

What was he doing whenever he went out with you? Whenever you stood next to him and someone asked you what the two of you were? You would always joke that he went into the modelling industry because too much time spent with you had caused his features to morph into your own?

“What are the two of you?” Aomine had asked. He had dropped by the two of you when you were talking to Kise. Since you were the only person Kise seemed close to, small wonder that everyone would be interested in knowing who you were.

“He’s my…” you trail off as you glance at Kise, “friend.”

Well he certainly was your friend. The two of you were born in the same hospital, on the same day, just a room and three hours apart from one another. Going to the same schools for 17 years, constantly sleeping over at one another’s houses, and having parents who were friendly with one another only cemented your status. But who was Kise to define what the two of you were? If you were friends, so be it.

And Kise stood by, nodding, as you started to draw the line between the two of you.

He stands by again, when you rush down the stairs from the stands fling yourself between the necks of the Generation of Miracle’s small forward and power forward. Kise pats your back affectionately as he basks in the light of victory. He tilts his head to the side, and seesA Aomine to his side, stunned as you bring him closer into the hug.

The other three members of the Generation stand nearby, clapping each other on the back and not minding the sudden PDA in front of them. There’s an entire crowd of people behind your back, for goodness sakes. But from the way you pull the two of them closer to your much shorter body shows that you’re shameless in front of everyone else.

If Aomine didn’t like you, then the bluenette would have pulled away, Kise concluded. But after Aomine’s gotten over his initial shock at you throwing yourself at him, Kise spots Aomine giving your shoulder a light squeeze. He also spots the bashful hand that squeezed your arm rubbing Aomine’s neck, keeping it down as the power forward smiles at you awkwardly.

So Kise leans back and notices the smile on Aomine’s face getting bigger and bigger every time he meets you. Which was a lot. Between hanging with Kise, you had started to get closer with the team. However much Kise wants to keep you all to himself is ignored.

And the third time is when the two of you are walking home together. It’s awfully quiet for the two of you, all banter ceased to a quiet as you fiddle with your clothes. You pass through a gaggle of senior citizens, grey hairs pristine against the 4 o’clock sunlight.

“What a cute couple the two of you are!” one coos. Kise leans in to give them a polite bow, but you raise your hands up in defense.

“He’s not my friend, granny!” you say. The old lady frowns.

“What is he then?” You pause to think for a moment. There’s a pang in Kise’s heart, as he knows what you’re about to say. He stays silent anyways.

“You could say he’s my boy,” you pause, “friend. With a space in between. Right?” You look at him, eyes wide with innocence. He wants to flash the old lady his winning smile and laugh your previous words off.

“No, we’re dating!” he wants to say. He wants to scoop you into his arms right then and there and kiss you on the sidewalk with the whole street watching. Perhaps with Aomine watching too, so he can come to his senses and back. The. Fuck. Off.

Like he could ever find the confidence to do that with you. Puberty and teenage years had done a number on how he interacted with you now. What used to be gentle touches as you patched up a scrape on his knee, now became a not-so-innocent brush on his hormonally charged skin of a teen. Paired with the fact that you had grown out of your childish looks into a figure taken straight out of a Renaissance painting....

“Yeah. We’re just friends,” Kise replies.

He could never let you down. After all, he was your best boy friend, wasn’t he?

this wasn't supposed to be an essay but here we are🤡✌️

ok SO i actually think about this a lot and i’ve never really settled on a solid idea??? i tend to use the manga and games (mostly the manga) as inspo for yasmines character development. initially as i only really focus on gen 1 and 2 for her story and stuff so i never really think as far as that. HOWEVER what i have in my head is that up until the gen 1 plot takes place yasmine is a team rocket executive and is at giovanni’s beck and call. obviously all of that changes once red beats him and he has an epiphany and realises he ain’t shit!

ANYWAY the stuff that happens between gen 1 and 2 is heavily based on the manga so sorry if none of it makes sense!!! after giovanni leaves yasmine is like an acting leader but it begins to fall apart once the authorities begin to crack down on them. he still has an ear to the ground as well as having underlings that are still very much loyal to him (i.e. gym leaders koga, sabrina and surge) which yasmine is totally unaware of. he and yasmine split off; he takes some high ranking team rocket members with him to the sevii islands to attempt to find deoxys to use it to find his son silver whilst yasmine takes whatever is left of team rocket with her to johto (including the four admins from the hg/ss games). on rare orccurances they reunite although it’s always strictly kept secret but after a number of meetings he disappears.

a year or so after yasmine reaches out to whoever is left of the kanto branch to join forces in johto in order to seek out giovanni however shes quickly overthrown by carr who is then soon overthrown by the admins who themselves weren’t happy with yasmines leadership (she was missing her boo 😞). she retreats and attempts to search for silver to ask him about giovanni’s whereabouts but basically tells her to fuck off lol!!! shortly after giovanni contacts her after hearing she’d lost power and admits he’s suffering from a disease incurable by modern medicine (the manga is so CRINGERY sometimes!!) and wishes to find celebi. he tells her to gather any team rocket members still loyal and go to ilex forest to find celebi whilst he helps deal with the rogue 4 admins who are attempting to summon the creation trio with arceus (i swear this makes sense in the manga). after they’re defeated yasmine and the team rocket members show up with celebi who has the cure. after he’s successfully healed he decides to take back control of team rocket after realising what a fucking shit show it turned into without him!!

ANYWAY after that they all relocate back to kanto and build up team rocket. giovanni reinstates yasmine as an executive (literally second in command) and they basically become kanto’s power couple ♥️ (maybe they also have some kid together or whatever who knows 🥱). i imagine at some point down the line team rocket is disbanded again, mostly from the threats of other organisations as well as the authorities clamping down on them (off topic but it’s how i like to think giovanni and nanu know eachother hehehehe) and they both settle in viridian city and grow old together (but not before showing up in alola back on his bullshit!!) xx

2018 fic year in review

thank you so much for tagging me @homosociallyyours !! this was really fun (and also a bit hard haha) to do ^__^

1. number of stories (including drabbles) posted to ao3: 19 (6 100 word seasonal drabbles, and out of the rest 4 are under 1k and 2 are chaptered but one of those is still a WIP)

10. work i’m least proud of and why: i mean i could nitpick the hell out of my stuff and i know there are certain bits i would write differently now but at the same time i created something with my brain that didn’t exist before and that’s just too cool not to be proud of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

this is from Take a Chance on Me (shocker) and i was having trouble thinking of my fave but then i was skimming through all of my fics and ngl i had forgotten about this bit but y’all i’ve been trying to work a Dramatic Airport Reunion into a fic FOR FUCKING EVER and i finally did it and i actually don’t hate it? (spoiler for the ending of Take a Chance on Me)

“See…” Louis starts. “See, there’s this guy. And, oh god, he’s an absolute twat. Wanna know what he did to me?” Harry nods faintly, and Louis, emboldened now, goes on. “So, I already knew who he was, right? I knew him, because he’d been in this god-awful boy band for years, and even if me bloody sisters hadn’t been so bloody in love with him, I’d still have known him, because he was just that famous.”

“I wasn’t that famous.”

“Don’t interrupt,” Louis chastises, and Harry mimics zipping his lips. “So this guy, I knew him, but he didn’t know me, but, fucking hell, I think someone forgot to tell him that, because there I was, minding my own business, when this kid just…” Louis giggles then, because the memory is just so ridiculous, “he just starts fucking singing to me, can you believe it?”

Harry shakes his head. “What a weirdo.”

“Right? The weirdest.”

“What happened next?”

“I fell in love with him.”

“What? That soon?”

“Of course not, Jesus, Harold. I’m not that pathetic. I waited the appropriate amount of time to fall in love, thank you very much.”

“Is that why you’re here, then?” Harry whispers. “Is it because you love him?”

“That’s part of it, yeah. I love him, and I love the way we just fit, and I adore his daughter, and our pets are friends now, and I think our sisters are best friends now, so they didn’t actually give me a choice, but do you want to know the biggest, most important reason?”

Harry nods quickly, so hard his chin bumps his chest, and Louis’ so fucking in love with him at that moment that these are the easiest words he’s ever said.

“I’m here,” he tells Harry, “because I was lying in my own bed, in my own house, surrounded by all my things, and all I wanted to do was go home.”

He’s yanked forward then, Harry’s fingers digging into his shoulders, and he barely feels the pain because it’s Harry, and everything’s good when it’s Harry. He’s babbling into Louis’ neck, and the only words he can make out are his name and “love you” and he shivers with the feeling.

Harry’s hair has grown out enough since the night Louis snuck in to see him that he can tangle his fingers in the strands. So he does, pulling Harry’s face away from his neck and pressing their lips together. Every kiss feels like an apology. Every kiss feels like home.

12. share or describe a favorite review you recieved: so this miiiiight be cheating but i received two comments on a fic i wrote in 2015 and it was kind of a surprise that something that old still held up and people still enjoy it? def made me feel better about my current writing and also anyone who quotes my fics back to me has earned my undying love and affection

13. a time when writing was really, really hard: i have adhd so p much always ahahaha

14. a scene or character you wrote that most surprised you: the entirety of “we’re swimming with the sharks until we drown” ngl because i struggled with the like… morally gray criminal-y elements? and portraying the two of them in such a different way while still staying in character which i like to think i nailed? hopefully lol

15. how did you grow as a writer this year? i don’t feel like a i have? but i’m also bias and hypercritical so maybe i did and just didn’t realize ahaha

16. how do you hope to grow next (this?) year: i want to enjoy writing again and i want to finish more fics and not let them rot in my docs because of self-doubt

who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer: okay so first @amandaisnotwriting is the real MVP as she bears the brunt of my whining/complaining/drama queen moments as well as the fact that she listens (some would argue is forced to :p) and reads over fic for a pairing she doesn’t ship for a fandom she doesn’t care about 😂😂😂

@rainbowbaz always makes time to look over my fics even when she’s crazy busy and is honestly amazing and saves my fics from americanisms ahahaha

and FINALLY we met p late in the year but but @livingatthelairport ‘s comment on “the tesco fic” helped me out of a writing slump and now she’s become my cheerleader (and friend 💜) and that’s make a huge difference in my attitude towards writing! it’s also easier to write a fic for a specific person than worry about the opinion of a crowd which is def something i’ve been missing in this fandom rip

also to everyone else who has read my fics, listened to me rant about them or just helped the process along in any way at all this is a GIANT thank you!!

18. anything from your real life show up in your writing this year? i mean i can’t think of anything off the top of my head but a lot of my inspo comes from the world around me so probably lol

19. any wisdom you can share with other writers: there’s nothing wrong with feeling jealous of other writers because i’m not a fan of hiding feelings just because they’re ugly as long as you don’t let it fester and turn into resentment or make you bitter. there are a lot of factors that go into a fic becoming “big” in a fandom but honestly most of it is just random chance so don’t beat yourself up because someone else’s success is not your failure and it’s nice to get recognition for your hard work but if you’re writing solely for the feedback then you’re writing for the wrong reason and that will lead to the resentment and bitterness mentioned earlier

also if you compliment someone you say you like their outfit but if you complement someone then you complete them

How I Plot MY Stories

DISCLAIMER: This method works for me. It’s subjective. It may work for you and it may not. Regardless, I’d like to think that there are some objective points in this thing.

1) Inspiration

This is one of those objective things, but I personally find my story inspo from a myriad of ways. Environments, personal experience, conversations, etc. However, my most common (and favorite) method would definitely have to be music. Music always tells a story. You just have to know how to listen to it.

Take for instance Si Una Vez by Selena. In English, it translates to If I Once. Now, if you don’t speak Spanish (I’m real rusty, but I can generally translate pretty well), that’s okay.

Despacito and Gasolina, anyone?

2) Brainstorming

Anyway, this particular song talks about a woman who regrets a relationship that she was in and no longer has plans to return to said person. Now, the first thought that comes to my mind is “what happened that made this relationship so terrible?” Did he cheat? Did she cheat? Did they grow apart? Was there possibly some type of domestic violence-related issues? These questions all serve to help you brainstorm, play around with different broad ideas. If we go with the cheating storyline, who stepped out on who? And who was it with? His friend? Her friend? This also helps you figure out your cast, OC’s, and main conflict, the heart, if you will, of your story.

3) Conflict

Now, here’s where my personal touch comes into play. Okay, let’s say that he cheated. Why? What caused him to step out on their marriage? The first thought that comes to mind is some type of trauma. To him. To her. I did a story years ago about a couple whose marriage was in shambles because of his cheating ways and only revealed near the middle of the story what caused him to walk away.

They’d lost their baby. She’d suffered a miscarriage.

So while the main conflict was his cheating, the reason behind his unfaithful ways was another secret.

Now, this is a little tricky to do because you have to slowly build up to the ‘big reveal,’ dropping clues and such along the way. The easiest way is flashbacks. I recommend alternating so if chapter one is a flashback then chapter two is the current time. The flashbacks should start with how the couple met and build up from there that way readers see the development of their relationship and start to wonder what went wrong.

The other method that is sometimes harder to do is clues. If she lost her child, then have a scene where she is out and sees someone with their children and she becomes uncomfortable. Mention her avoiding certain people, not returning phone calls, etc. However, do not drop too many or make them too specific or else your readers might figure it out.

Instead, have your current chapter focus on his cheating, maybe her trying to track down who he cheated with. In the present timeframe, have a plot twist.

4) Plot Twits

These are a favorite of mine and they’re always pretty damn convoluted. That’s just the way my brain works. You don’t have to have one in your story. Not at all. I just prefer them in mine because I like stories with a bit of suspense. Now, using the Black Panther as an example is good because there are two sides: comics and MCU. I’m a fan of both and implement ideologies from both sectors into my works.

Let’s take someone like Shuri in Space Between and this notion that she’s the informant. I’ve already said that she isn’t so this shouldn’t be a “spoiler.” Someone said that she’d have the least amount of motive, but wouldn’t that make her an even better subject for a twist?

And I tend to disagree that she wouldn’t have a motive. If something were to happen to T’Challa, she would become the ruler of Wakanda and (possibly) the next Black Panther. If T’Challa marries Nala, then Bunme becomes his heir and Shuri is bumped down the line. We know that Shuri is absolutely brilliant and capable of so much. What if she wanted to be queen? She wouldn’t be too happy about some kid who, while she loves, knows nothing about Wakanda taking her “place.”

Like that part at the waterfalls? I could have written a part where Shuri is suddenly quiet when the people started calling Nala their queen because she knows what would happen if her brother were to marry the woman.

Or going back to the cheating scenario, make the therapist that’s treating the couple the one who is cheating with the husband. Make it the doctor. Hint that the husband has a history with the cheater by writing that he seemed uncomfortable in the sessions or appointments. Readers will think it because the couple already has a lot of tension between them instead of this notion that she’s the one he’s sleeping with.

Play around with your characters, search for the point of intersectionality, and draw on it.

5) The Outline

For me, I do this in a number of ways. The first thing I do, however, is write everything that I have (so far) down. I write out my cast (I’m going to use my outline from stories on Wattpad, again, to avoid spoilers) and their brief background after spending a week or such on research to ensure that the veracity of the characters is on point.

Then, after figuring out what needs to happen (I do this by freewriting and brainstorming various ideas that I know could help me build up to the big reveal of one or more of my conflicts. I have a notebook that I write in for that part. ), I do a rough outline of each chapter to figure out how long the book will be. I either use bullets:

Oh, the apps I use are: Google Docs, Evernote, Notes, and iBooks Author.

Now, keep in mind, that these are just rough guides. Your story might end up being longer, shorter, or not include something that was in the initial draft.

All of this happens to me with each fic that I formulate.

It’s okay though because you have something to fall back on and help remember your original plans.

I also create playists of songs that contribute to each chapter or the story as a whole. And, typically, my titles are lines from the main song that sparked the fic or I just name it after the song itself.

Plus, I’m a visual person so I create covers/aesthetics/visuals for my fics. They help remind me of the story and the characters background. Here are some of the visuals that I’ve done for various fics (published and sitll in the making):

Take the Chadwick one. It’s got Siyanda and Simone. One on each side and a split road in the middle as well as a bed. It indicates that he can only go one way aka pick one woman.

That might be spoiler-ish.

6) Final Thoughts

Again, someone requested that I give a snippet as to how I plan my stories, but I figured that I’d just make a post because a lot of you seem enthralled by my hot mess ass, messy ass, works. Lol. But, I needed to get into the writing mood and this helped so I guess it’s a double win? No? Okay.
