49. Another night in Hell's Kitchen
"Who's this fancy looking fella?" Foggy asks, taking in Matt's appearance when you two come to the office minutes before the work day begins.
"You like it?" Matt slowly spins around, showing off his new navy blue suit, paired with a dark red tie with small black dots.
"Did you sell your kidney or something to buy this? Jesus, you're making me look like a subway worker." Foggy laughs, coming to touch Matt's suit to feel the material.
"Nah, got a good deal." Matt smiles, adding, "all the glory should go to y/n, she managed to bargain a smaller price."
Your cheeks turn a light shade of pink, and you quickly turn around from Foggy and Karen to hang your coat. "The owner is a friend of my mom and well, your blindness really soothed his character."
"Wait, wait. I think I'm missing something." Foggy stands, one hand on his hips, and intently looks at the two of you. "I think I need an explanation."
"Y/n invited me for Thanksgiving dinner and we raided the shops later." Matt shrugs as if it wasn't a big deal to hang out with an employee... On a holiday. At her parent's house.
"I just couldn't let him be sullen the whole weekend while we're all away." Making way towards the kitchen for coffee, you also escape curious glances, and soon, clients start coming, pilling up in the lobby with Karen. You don't get a chance to talk with Matt until noon, as he spends most of the time with Foggy, talking to clients and running around the lobby to print documents. You, however, continue to work alone in the office until the lunch break, and just when you thought you were all going to grab a bite, and you could have a chance to smoke a cigarette or two, three loud bangs on your office door, ruin all of your plans.
***
"I'm sorry... But your son has been involved in..." you raise your eyebrows at the short-haired black woman and her 16-year-old son, "an armed robbery?"
"Yes, I've already mentioned it four times."
"Sorry, I'm a bit... Not well today. So, Paxton, could you please tell me what exactly happened? If you want to stay out of jail, I need to hear every single detail."
Paxton's mother crosses her arms, clearly unhappy with the treatment she was receiving, while Paxton was sitting on one of the armchairs, not particularly bothered by the whole situation. "Nothing. My mother is exaggerating." He shrugs, looking out through the window.
"I'm sorry, he's joking, right sweetheart?" His mother tries to gently touch his arm, but Paxton slides away as far as he can. "He told me everything last night. That's why I came here without an appointment. I noticed how many people are here, I am so glad you could take us in during your break."
"Mrs Harris..." You begin, tapping your pen on your notebook, "enough with the pleasantries. I need the details so I could tell you if I'm able to help you and Paxton. Now, please, talk."
"Remember that article a couple of weeks ago about how five men robbed a jewelry store?" She asks, casting her eyes to the ground; you give her a negative answer and wait for a more detailed explanation. "Well, Paxton was involved in it."
"What did you steal?"
"Rings, necklaces, earrings. I found a box of them in his room." She answers for Paxton.
You look at the boy, noticing a small smirk he just bit away. "What were you planning to do with them, Paxton?"
"Sell. It's all gold." He rolls his eyes.
"Why?"
"I need money." Paxton says in a hurtful tone, sending a glare towards you.
"What for?" Your question hangs in the air heavily. "Why is a teenage boy so in need of money that he must go rob a jewelry store? Tell me, do you work somewhere?"
"No, the money that I bring home is enough." Mrs Harris answers for her son once more, and you look at him in thought.
"Is it drugs, Paxton? You need more money for a dose, don't you?" He stares back at you, visibly irritated. "Is it cocaine? Or marijuana? Do you smoke with your criminal friends after school? Where'd you get the guns from?"
"Excuse me, but these are false accusations, Miss y/l/n, I-"
You hold your hand up, and continue to look right at the boy. "It is drugs. Bloodshot eyes, runny nose. You keep buying those eye drops in hopes of concealing it, but they don't work, do they?"
"Miss-"
"How do you know?" He finally asks after failing the staring contest.
"I had my fair share of experience with drug addicts. Now, if we cleared this one up, where'd you get the guns and who were your accomplices?"
"I can't tell you. I made a promise." He protests in vain.
"Addict's promise is nothing more than an empty talk. Did they threaten you?" You're met with silence and uneasiness from Mrs Harris. "Paxton, we're bound by an attorney-client privilege. Whatever you say, stays in this room. I can only advise what's best for you in court."
"No."
"I think you're lying to me."
"Yes, okay? I had to keep my mouth shut so they would give me my share." You rub your forehead in thought, when Paxton speaks up again, "we found some guns in an abandoned place, it was like a warehouse or something. We only came there to threaten the owner, but then Joey fired a shot and... We didn't want to hurt anyone."
"Did you hurt someone?"
"No, the bullet went through the display glass, but we got scared and ran away." Paxton was still restricted, but after you assured that it stays between you three, he opened up.
"Did anyone see you?"
"No, we wore masks."
"Can you tell other names? Besides Joey?"
He hesitates, cracking his fingers, afraid to meet his mother's eyes.
***
"He's agreed to help us, in exchange for a full immunity."
"Did he give any names?" Mahoney asks, flipping over the papers.
"All of them." You answer, looking over at Mrs Harris and her son, still in your office. Matt and the rest of the office returned from their lunch break, and Matt was awkwardly hanging around Karen's desk, listening to you and Mahoney talking on the phone from time to time. Karen was pushing him to get a grip and finally start taking money from the clients, rather than doing everything for free; yet he kept pushing back with the same old arguments.
"Well, I need you to come to the station, so we could take the statement, only then I can guarantee a full immunity."
"Alright, we'll see you soon, Sergeant."
***
You enter Josie's before seven, pushing through the thick crowd to the pool tables, old rock music is blaring through the speakers on full volume. Some guy almost spills his drink and starts apologizing profusely, so you quicken your step until you finally see familiar faces of Nelson and Murdock. "Apologies for the delay, Mahoney held us up." You sigh, stopping in front of the pool table to watch how Foggy misses a perfect shot.
"He likes to do that a lot." Foggy comments, trying to cover up his incredible failure.
"What happened? You were gone the whole afternoon." Matt fixes his glasses, directing his movements elsewhere, although he wanted to at least put a comforting hand on your shoulder... But not in public.
"Uh... Whiskey neat?" You ask him, snatching his drink without waiting for an answer, and when the alcohol burns your throat, finally reply, "so basically, the warehouse where the kids found guns belong to the irish, yes, yet another gang in Hell's Kitchen. And the police are on the lookout for them, but it seems that they went into hiding." You put an empty glass on the table next to you, and touch Matt's shoulder, "Next one's on me."
"Wait, so what happened to the kids?" Karen asks, sipping her own drink, which you notice to be the same brand of  beer that Matt keeps buying for himself.
"We all talked, but of course, their parents weren't happy with the charges, so none of them confessed, but Paxton's on tape, and he still has the full immunity on the table."
"And the store owner?"
"He didn't recognize any of them, but he did recognize the stolen jewelry that Paxton brought with him. At least they were smart enough to wear masks, but if Mahoney pulls out a search warrant, it's over for them." You sigh, plopping on the chair nearby. "I'm dog tired and I can't believe I've walked all the way from the station here."
"Hey, it's time to relax now, we've got all gang here!" Foggy puts his hands on your shoulders and shakes, a bit too strong for your liking.
"Nelson and Murdock are finally back!" Karen lifts her bottle and cheers when Matt's shot goes right into the hole.
"That's a pretty damn good shot there, Murdock." You comment, and Matt's cheeks slightly blush. You quickly check him out, relaxed and laid back, his jacket ditched somewhere on the chair, the sleeves of his shirt rolled up and his strong arms exposed. If you could, you'd take him right here in the filthy bathroom of Josie's bar; but you can only bite your lip and wait for Josie to bring you a drink.
Matt laughs, "I only got lucky this time."
"He's been riding on that luck the whole evening, don't trust his words." Foggy comments and goes around the table to find the best position for himself again.
***  The evening goes by quickly, you've already lost the count on how many drinks you have consumed in those couple of hours, the bar is nowhere near empty, on the contrary, it only became fuller. Foggy has won two out of six rounds against Matt and has been glued to his beer ever since, apart from an occasional bathroom break, and now it was Karen v Matt in the 'grand pool battle', as Foggy called it.
Your phone vibrates and you pull it out of your purse, confused. 1 new message. You can't help but look around the bar, before opening the message from an unknown number. Maybe Todd has come back to haunt you again?
U/N: hey, just wanted to check in, how are you?
You: sorry, who's this?
You see three dots appear and disappear multiple times, and at last, the person texts back, you quickly sober up.
U/N: It's Poindexter.
U/N: don't mean to appear like a stalker, but got your number from the case documents.
You: Oh
Dex clenches his jaw tightly, and Ray turns to look at him, clutching his phone. "You alright?"
"Yeah, yeah." Dex answers, briefly looking around where they have parked their car. Dex and Ray were on a lookout mission tonight, and after a long afternoon of contemplating, he finally gathered enough courage to text you. And your response wasn't as warm as he expected it to be.
After two long minutes, which felt like an hour to Dex, you finally started typing something. Ray side-eyed his partner with rising interest, pretty much because he has never seen him staring at his phone like that. Dex's small smirk to your message added more suspicion to the already boiling pot.
You: does this count as a part of your job, agent?
Dex: not when I'm off duty.
You: are you off duty now?
Dex: well, I guess you caught me this time.
Matt listens to the sudden liveliness of your phone, slightly confused, but then Karen appears next to him and offers to teach how to play pool 'correctly', despite the obvious fact that he's been playing with Foggy the whole evening. You watch them from behind a half empty glass of whiskey, catching the way drunken Karen allowed herself to boldly touch Matt. You shouldn't be mad or jealous... Theoretically... Because you two weren't public or official. But theory aside, you were biting your cheek to refrain from a sarcastic remark. Matt couldn't help himself but smile awkwardly when he felt Karen's fingers sliding along his arm; her closeness was too much for his liking, especially in front of you; but your attention was somewhere else already.
You: didn't think feds worked overtime.  You replied cheekily, but then added, I'm ok. Thanks for asking, Dex.
Dex's response was quick, you don't know a lot about us then. I guess everything that happened was very hard for you.
You get a fresh glass of whiskey, thinking over his message. It was strange, that when your life has finally settled, weeks after Teneke's murder, Dex decided to text you. Although there was some truth in his words, it was hard, the nightmares weren't the fun part of the whole thing too... But it was all in the past now; with Matt by your side, you allowed yourself to relax and not think of all the bad things that happened in your life since your return to Hell's Kitchen.
You: it was, yeah. If we're already on this subject, how are you?
Dex: I'm good, thanks.
And he was, especially when you texted back. His smile, even though a brief one, didn't go unnoticed by Ray. Dex wanted to text something else, keep the conversation going, but his mind was blank, especially when it came to making small talk; although he was now guarded by his phone and safe from any first-hand awkwardness, Dex still didn't know how to deal with the sudden stress. But his self-pitying session got interrupted by your message, so, what are you up to right now? So, you did care after all. Enough to not let this conversation die.
Dex: on a lookout for a bad guy, pretty boring. And you? Hopefully something more exciting.
You: in a bar, drinking my salary away with the bosses. How bad that bad guy is?
Dex: pretty bad in my opinion. Don't drink too much, you won't feel well tomorrow  :)
You lock your phone and notice that Foggy and Karen were already dressed up.
"Look who's off her phone already, you missed all the fun." Foggy says, buttoning his coat up.
"You're leaving already?"
"Yeah, Karen's afraid to go home alone and I-"
"I am not!" Karen giggles, steadying herself against the pool table. Matt laughs, leaning on the pool cue and sips his beer.
"Huh, maybe I should head home as well... Just want a cigarette so bad, haven't had one the whole day." You sigh, and say your goodbyes to Foggy and Karen. The bar is still full, Josie's been running non-stop, and you think to yourself if it's always like this on a Monday night.
"That leaves just two us now, huh?" Matt says, striking the white ball into the red one.
"Isn't this just so romantic?" You laugh, walking closer to Matt, and whispering in his ear, "those shouting ones really know how to create an atmosphere...Full of sweaty bodies and that stink of cheap beer."
"I'd say this is perfect." He laughs, handing you the pool cue.
"No, I don't play."
"Come on, let me teach you."
"Really? And how will you do that?"
"With your help, of course." Matt laughs into your ear, and puts his hands around your shoulders, positioning the cue in your hands. "Now, turn where the white one is." You do that, noticing that there's a green ball right behind the white one. "And now, you strike that ball into another one, like that." He pushes the cue with quick, powerful movement, still holding your hand.
"It went in!"
"See, it's easy." He smiles, forgetting that he was gonna ask you who was texting you this late in the evening. You celebrate for a moment, but then grab Matt's hand, asking to go home. And who was Matt to refuse your ideas, when he knew how tired you were?
As you were waiting for a taxi outside, Matt was standing so close to you that you smelled his perfume mixed with all the smells of the bar even through your burning cigarette.
"Listen, I wanna ask you something, y/n." He begins, shuffling his feet on the sidewalk. "Do you... Would you like to go on a date tomorrow evening?"
"A date?" You ask again, averting your attention from the passing cars. "Matt, we've been together for like a month."
"I know, and I haven't asked you on a date once, that's on me." His warm hands found yours and squeezed affectionately, "let's go to some nice place, maybe not too expensive," you laugh and it's like music to his ears, "I would choose it myself, but unfortunately," Matt gestures to his glasses, "I'll put on my best suit, and you could put on that silk dress I helped you choose... What do you say?"
You wanted to kiss him right now and never let him out of your arms, "I have one place in mind... I just hope that it will be as romantic as Josie's."
He laughs, throwing his head back, "so, that's a yes?"
"Affirmate, Mr Murdock." You kiss him on the cheek, leaving the biggest smile on his face.
***
"Hey, I told you I'm sorry, I tried to reason with my mother to not go to that lawyer!" Paxton's voice rings in the dark alley, four dark figures hovering above him menacingly.
"So you had to tell our names to save your own ass, didn't you?" Joey asks, kicking Paxton's thigh with enough force to earn a loud cry.
"I was busted either way. She cracked me about the drugs, I can't be in jail for having drugs in my house, please!"
"You're just a pussy, Paxton. I always knew you were the weakest link." Toby says, pulling the hood off his head. "We could've sold that gold for good money and taken more guns from the warehouse, but it's all busted now. And whose fault is that?"
"Guys, please," Paxton shields his head from another kick, "I beg you, stop, I'll take everything back, I promise-"
"I don't take promises from a snitch. We should just kill you right now." Joey says, picking up a brick from the ground, and gets hit by one of Daredevil's billy clubs, which bounces off to knock out Toby. The rest of the gang look around in panic, until they notice a dark figure on one of the rooftops, and another billy club flies through the air and knocks them out as well.
"Please, please, don't kill me, Daredevil!" Paxton lies back down, keeping his hands in the air.
The devil of Hell's Kitchen lands on the ground switfly with little effort and picks up his billy clubs, agonizingly slowly stalking towards Paxton. "Call the police, call your lawyer first thing in the morning, leave no details, you understand? Drop the shady business or I won't be so nice the next time we meet." Matt rasps out, in case Paxton has heard him speaking in the office.
"Okay, okay, I'll do it, please don't hurt me anyone." Paxton cries out, holding his bruised side.
"Make the call right now, Paxton, I won't ask again."
The boy pulls out his phone, screen almost shattered from the kicks and dials the emergency number, fearfully looking at his knocked out friends and Daredevil himself, standing and looking right at him.
Another typical night in Hell's Kitchen.

T&F Diesel Headcanons
Diesel
He is devious!
He is in a rivalry with Duck and Thomas.
He smokes cigarettes. He's a baaaad boy (note that I don't support smoking, it's really bad for you guys).
He bosses Paxton and Sidney around, since they don't know any better.
He has Doberman Pinscher ears and tail in his animal form.
He's emo. He dresses in all black and listens to grunge.
He is miserable and self-loathing.
He drinks from soda cans filled with oil. He is often covered in diesel stains.
He does boxing. You do not want to see him and Thomas get physical. Different fighting styles, yeeesh!
Mavis!
She's a scene girl.
She listens to My Chemical Romance.
She has a passionate interest in rocks. She knows what kind are sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic.
She and Toby are good friends. Toby likes her cowcatcher skirt. Mavis likes his cowcatcher shorts!
Percy has a huge crush on her but she's oblivious.
She has Maine Coon cat ears and a fluffy Maine Coon tail in her animal form.
She hangs out with Diesel from time to time but doesn't tolerate his prejudice against steamies. A lot of her friends run on steam.
Her patron saint is Mother Mary Lange. She founded the first African American religious congregation.
Salty
He's the pirate train! Yo-ho-ho!
He sings sea shanties. Donald the Scottish twin sings along with him.
He's the Mr. Krabs of Sodor. He's attracted to shiny objects and can be very greedy.
He is attached to the sea. Sometimes he'll drink the sea water then his face looks like this 416c175b6a82f64209c441768857c61a.jpg (640×960) (pinimg.com)
He purposefully annoys Cranky with his really long sea stories.
He's a Japanese Spider Crab with wheels on his six legs in his animal form.
His patron saint is Saint Nicholas aka Santa Claus.
Boco!
He is a Metropolitan Vickers Diesel highly respected by the railfanning community.
He is a grandfatherly figure to Bill and Ben. He is able to withstand their tricks with firm but gentle discipline.
He and Edward are friends.
He dresses in military fashion.
He is best friends with Bear, the friendly diesel bear with wheels on his legs. He understands how he feels.
He is a bear with wheels on his legs in his animal form.
Bill and Ben tease him by calling him, "Boco Coco"!
He's kind of like Alex the Lion from Madagascar? Because he's so respected he got a bit of an ego, but he's a good guy regardless.
He had a crush on Ashima when she visited Sodor for the great race.
Diesel 10
He's not a nice guy.
He crushes steam engines with his claw.
He killed Lady, however she came back to life.
He almost killed Thomas. He ripped his arm off during the chase scene, but thankfully they put it back together again.
PT Boomer is his driver. He's a stick figure w/ a motorcycle helmet who carries dynamite.
Sir Topham Hatt doesn't kick him off the island due to finances.
He's a bull with train wheels in his animal form.
He's comedically villainous but when he's angry, you're screwed.
He treats Splatter and Dodge like punching bags, no wonder why they left him.
Daisy
She used to be very rude and sour when she first came to Sodor. Now she has a change of heart.
She's a dairy cow with train wheels on her legs in her animal form.
She's very girly and fashionable.
She and Lady have DIY spa days together. They get massages, mani-pedis, facials . . . they're girls okay! XD
Diesel thinks she's really annoying.
She uses strawberry flavored lipstick and high-volume shampoo for the extra bounce in her hair.
Her patron saint is Saint Elizabeth of Hungary.
She has back pain. She's highly sprung.
She dresses in flapper fashion and carries a feather boa around her neck.

𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐄 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 → j. paxton
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: jules paxton x fem!reader type: fic request: none warnings: nah, just fluff!
prompt/trope: none!
summary: jules and y/n have a movie night after winning a game. word count: 1.16k
Tumblr media
"Did you see that last goal? I don't think I've ever seen a goalie jump so high and fail so miserably!"
Jules and Y/n were practically bubbling after the win against the Chiswick girls' team. They'd had the best defensive record for years now, and they'd beat them. The most brilliant thing about it was that it hadn't even been close! It wasn't even a question of if by the second half. Nothing made Jules happier than winning a game, and nothing made Y/n happier than Jules being happy.
"I'm home, mum!" Jules called into the house as they shut the back door behind them. Y/n's brother had given them a ride back from the game and Y/n had her overnight bag at her side, soccer bag in the other hand.
Jules's mum appeared in the kitchen, dressed in bright pinks and blues from head to toe. To put it lightly, she looked a bit absurd. Jules's mum loved bright colors. She never ceased her hobby of buying bright outfits for Jules that she'd never wear. Right then she looked like she'd stepped out of a paint store after having neon paint thrown over her. She looked surprised. "Y/n! You're here as well?"
"She's spending the night, remember?" Jules said, setting her back down by the door.
"Oh." her mum said, looking between them with suspicion for a moment. "Well then. Would you girls like anything to eat?"
"Nah, thanks mum. We're probably just going to watch a movie, and then maybe the game?" Jules looked to Y/n to confirm and she nodded.
At the mention of the word game, Jules's mum looked disappointed. She was never perfectly content with Jules's love of football. She was just about appalled when she found out that women's games were broadcast on television. It meant Jules could actively pursue her love of sport on and off the field. "Just...take off your shoes before you track dirt into the house."
The two girls nodded, slipping off their shoes. Jules peeled off her jersey (earning her a side eyed glance from her mum) and grimaced. "We need a shower." she joked.
At the word "we," Jules's mum jumped like she'd been shot, but by then Jules and Y/n were too far up the stairs to notice.
Two hours later, Jules and Y/n were sat in the living room with matching wet hair, half-watching a horror movie Jules had put on. They were more interested in talking about the game - and in the box of pizza on the table in front of them.
"She practically handed the ball to the other team. Joe was livid." Y/n recounted the moment when she looked over and saw their coach fuming over a pass made by one of the girls on their team.
"It's so odd, Lily's been playing so well lately too." Jules nodded. "I think she said her boyfriend came to the game—maybe that threw her off?"
Y/n shrugged. "Maybe. I wouldn't understand why, though."
"Come on, really? You don't think having the person you're dating in the stands wouldn't freak you out a bit? I think I'd want to show off as much as possible." Jules laughed. "Maybe she was thinking so hard about showing off for him that it messed up her play."
Y/n frowned as she got up off the couch to get more water from the kitchen. "I dunno. I guess I can't really imagine being with someone who doesn't play soccer. I mean, I don't think I could date someone who knew nothing about it. It's practically my life when school's out."
"I think I know what you mean." Jules hummed. "Dating anyone at all seems like too much sometimes. Especially with my mum, who throws boys at me whenever we're at one of her dinner parties. It's like she's trying to marry me off to the most eligible suitor or something."
Y/n walked back to find Jules sprawled on the couch on her back, eyes glued to the TV as she took up all the room. Y/n sighed a laugh. "Thanks for leaving me a spot."
"Well, come here then." Jules said, holding out her arms.
Y/n gave her a look and Jules rolled her eyes, beckoning her again. "Come on, there's plenty of room when you look at it vertically."
Y/n laughed at that, but she couldn't ignore how quickly her heart was beating. Jules, on the other hand, seemed perfectly cool and collected. To be fair, Jules was always an affectionate person. Whenever either of them scored a goal in a match they would always be found leaping into each other's arms, occasionally knocking each other over and laughing hysterically. It drove Joe mad, but they loved it. It was like a tradition.
But this? It was something different.
"You're mad." Y/n mumbled, but she set her glass of water down and walked over to Jules anyway. Shakily (but composed enough to hide it), she fell into Jules's arms, laying her head near her collarbone. Jules wrapped her arms around her, sighing into her hair. "See? Cozy."
Y/n laughed quietly, but she couldn't quite get over the fact that their legs were tangled together and her head was tucked in the crook of Jules's neck so comfortably. God, she really hoped Jules couldn’t feel how fast her heart was beating.
“Jules.” Y/n spoke suddenly, almost startling herself.
“Yeah?”
Y/n looked up at Jules. “When you said dating anyone seems stressful, did you mean anyone?”
Confused, Jules laughed slightly. “Er, yeah I guess so. What d’you mean?”
“Well, we never really talk about guys, right? I mean…it just never really seems important to either of us. And…I dunno, you just don’t seem super interested in all that.” she said, then quickly added: “I’m not either.”
Jules frowned. “I guess not.”
By now Y/n heart was practically in her throat, thumping so hard she could practically feel it in her skull. No, she was sure she’d offended Jules. That was it. “Jules, I–”
Before she could finish the sentence, Jules leaned down and pressed her lips to Y/n’s. It sucked all the air from Y/n’s lungs, a cold wash of shock going up her spine. There is no way this is real.
In an instant it was over. Jules pulled away, and Y/n looked up at her with her mouth slightly agape. For a moment Jules panicked, wondering if she had gone about this completely wrong, but then Y/n moved up so that she was straddling Jules’s waist and kissed her again. This time Jules was the one caught off-guard, but she kissed her back like she had planned it all along.
When she pulled away, Y/n looked at her with hopeful eyes. “Is this too much?” she asked quietly.
Jules smiled. “Not at all.”

Queer Poetry Collection
Trans Hate
Being trans comes with many joys, finally discovering yourself, finding people who understand you the euphoria of looking like yourself for the first time the pride in breaking the chains of the gender binary It also comes with some unavoidable pain not feeling like your body is your own living some of your life as someone you’re not your voice not sounding like you clothes never fitting quite right and some easily avoidable suffering like societal oppression being abused and made fun of just for living as our true selves being referred to by terms that aren’t your own
Greg Abbott, Ken Paxton Ron DeSantis, Joe Harding Ted Cruz, Donald Trump theses men do nothing to help instead they encourage the torment and through their positions of power they spread their harmful ideas transphobia snakes its way through the republican party spreading it’s tendrils through the darkest corners
Greg Abbott Ken Paxton and their long pointy nails ripping trans children from their parents drawing blood where lives could be spared blocking the pathways to happy healthier lives trans kids in Texas directly under fire trans kids everywhere can feel their pain
Ron DeSantis Joe Harding and their massive obnoxious mouths talking over anyone who’s different or odd running their mouths as if they’re better than the rest of us stopping children from sharing their stories or even learning that they are not alone other people feel that way it’s not wrong to be queer queerness should be celerbrated not erased from our vocabulary
Ted Cruz and his two sided hair cut viewed from one side he is a protector from the other side he is a transphobe one perspective buys into his tale of biological supremacy among children, kids who just want to play the other view point sees the evil forcing kids to hide their true self or leave the game that they love
Donald Trump and his blaring orange skin the bright color acts as a beacon calling similar minded people to his side gathering support for causes that deserve no recognition preventing people from serving their country because their gender doesn’t align with your expectations preventing brave men women and people from serving simply because of what’s in their pants
Six fallen saviors leaders turned corrupt they were supposed to empower the people they serve instead they terrorize them powerful people, political leaders they are supposed to guide the way to a better future not turn us around and send us back to bigotry oppression and hatred
It Hurts
“Women’s reproductive rights” “After a woman gives birth” “Her” “He or she” “Girls” “Ladies and gentleman” [Women’s room] [Men’s room] “Girl’s team” “Boy’s team” “Son or daughter” “Mom and dad” “Brother or sister”
Everyone pretends I don’t exist Everyone tries to deny my existence Everyone implies I’m not there Everything is structured to ignore my existence Every tradition pretends I’m not real
It hurts I try to hide it I shrug it off I ignore it I say it’s ok
But it isn’t Every Little Stab Hurts
I. Exist. Too. Just because I don’t fit Into your neat little boxes Doesn’t mean I’m not real Doesn’t mean you can just ignore me I have a uterus too I play on this team too I’m listening to your speeches too I exist in this world too
How about “Reproductive rights” “After a person gives birth” “Their” “They” “United” “Folks” [Bathroom] “Coach A’s team” “Coach B’s team” “Child” “Parents” “Sibling”
Just change a few words It’s not very hard And it can make a world of a difference It can make me feel seen and heard It can make me feel real It can make me feel like I have a place in this world Because I do Weather or not you care to acknowledge me I am here and I am queer
Transitional Years
Alone Scared What am I supposed to do What is gender How do I stay safe How do I explain these feelings What is going on inside me What is going on around me
I am so glad that time is over The fear The questioning The confusion No more hiding who I am just because I don’t understand it And I’m afraid the world won’t either No more hiding inside Afraid of the plague that’s taken over the world
I can be free now I can be myself I can be unapologetically myself I can be a normal kid
I’m never getting those years back Those 2 years spent hiding in the darkness of my room Or all the years before spent believing in a lie I lost my transitional years To a plague And to a different kind of transition
I went in one person And came out a totally new version of myself
New name New pronouns New perspective on the world
I’m not alone in my struggles, I wish younger me knew that Other people feel the way you do And everyone is there for you You don’t have to question alone It’s ok to let others know you’re confused and scared
I’m happy for my friends Who aren’t going through that alone I’m glad I can be there to support them To show them that they aren’t alone To show them the light at the end of the tunnel To be an example of a happy ending
I just wish younger me was that brave Younger me was too afraid of the unknown To admit to anyone else that I didn’t know Didn’t know who I was Instead of letting others help me to find myself I hid myself from everyone I hid myself from myself I denied who I am Because I thought I had to know To pick To tell everyone I thought I had to know who I was Before I could tell people who I’m not I thought I had to pick between Being truly myself And being a part of my team I thought if I told someone I would have to tell everyone So I chose hiding I chose the past I chose my team
Sure, it made me who I am But couldn’t have there been An easier path to this point? We’ll never know At least for now, I’m just happy to have made it here I hid away for 2 years And in the process I found myself I pulled back the coat of lies That I had been building up my whole life I eased out of it And I burned it The freedom I found Was well worth the pain That the path here caused I am myself And I am never turning back
The Queer Fight
Gay marriage was legalized In the united states Within my lifetime And I’m still in highschool
The first time an Openly transgender athlete Competed in the olympics was Last summer I watched them Go on to win gold
Stonewall The AIDs crisis Those are things of the past To my generation Yes, they’re important history But they aren’t our battles
Our Fights are: Bathroom bills Trans athletes Representation for EVERYone Skyrocketing mental illnesses
Things are much better than they were 50,30,20, even 10 years ago But we’re not there yet We’re still seen as other As something different Something to be feared and hated There are still so many countries Where I could be killed Just for being myself And even more Where I couldn’t marry the person I love Just because we’re the same gender Hell even in the usa I can’t marry The people that I love Since you can only marry one person
Yeah representation has gotten better But you still have to go looking for it And the little that you can find is mostly Just gay, mlm or wlw There’s the occasional mspec A sprinkling of binary trans people A spot of enbies And a tiny tiny spec of aspecs I can see queer people but I can Hardly see myself And my multifaceted identity Nonbinary, trans, genderfluid, mspec, ace, ambiam
This is our fight And we’re not stopping Until we’re all equal
The Black Ring
Black ring Right middle finger A fuck you to Fucking anyone
It’s a physical reminder Something to rub When I feel Like an other Like I’m missing out That I’m too queer Or not queer enough It grounds me Reminds me I’m not alone
It’s a signal A way to let others know “Hey, you’re not alone” It’s subtle But powerful It’s simple But meaningful
It’s a piece of me I almost never take it off It represents a part of me That can’t otherwise Be seen and understood Even with the ring Only some people care To see and understand But I do and some do And that’s enough for me
Black ring Right middle finger A reminder A Symbol A part of me How I say “I’m Proud, Proud to be Ace.”

More Than You Bargained For, Part 2
CW: BBU and everything that comes with it, tics, noncon touch (very brief and non sexual)
They continued kneeling and watched as the man in front of them twitched. Tics, he’d called them. They would remember that, it could be important later. The tics slowed and the man took a deep breath. “Do either of you have names?”
“No Sir. You can choose to call us whatever pleases you best.” The one with dark hair spoke up. His body language suggested to Warren that he’d be the more dominant personality between his newly purchased pets. He sat up straighter, at perfect attention. The one with dirty blond hair nodded his assent. Warren’s head snapped forward and he whistled loudly, making both pets jolt.
“Oh. I see.” They say in awkward silence for a moment, only a whistle and a few clicks of the tongue to break the think quiet. “Can you go get the boxes you came in, please?” Warren inwardly cringed at the words. The boxes you came in. Not even animals were usually shipped that way. What have I gotten myself into? But he needed the help and there were no caretakers in his area for someone with his needs.
They each got up and retrieved their respective boxes, bringing them in to set in front of him; first the dark haired one (Darius, maybe? Dolten? He definitely felt like a D name), then the blond. As the latter set down his box, Warren’s hand snapped forward, his hand latching onto the boy’s wrist. Instantly the pet whimpered and dropped to his knees where he was, too afraid to speak.
What did I do wrong? He had done just as the other pet did, and Master had not seen his actions worthy of punishment. It is not my duty to think. Only to serve my Master. He sat on his knees waiting diligently as the tight grip on his arm released. He winced, waiting for the inevitable slap across his face.
“Sorry, kid.” Master said. “You’re not in trouble. It’s just a tic.” Just a tic? Was he supposed to know already how to distinguish them? Would he be punished for not understanding? Was he already the least favourite pet? He was the defective one, after all. “No worries. You can go sit by your buddy, I just want to look at these papers for a bit.” The boy crawled the few feet to kneel beside the dark haired pet and watched intently as Master began to unpack the rest of the box.
Warren pulled out the booklet first. He’d already read it online, but he skimmed through it anyway. His mind was occupied with other things. He’d really spooked the pet (Paxton? Harley? Hampton?) when he’d grabbed him. He read up on pet ownership on the internet and the biggest thing to it seemed to be punishment, something he never intended to implement. The pets obviously expected it though, and he was definitely worried about some of his more aggressive tics giving them the wrong idea. His head snapped and he hummed as he caught a verbal tic in his mouth. He felt like he owed it to them to try to hold the outbursts in, at least for the first few days.
He leaned forward and found everything he’d been told to expect: vouchers for collars once he picked names, two leashes, and two canes. He found something in the blond one’s box he hadn’t been expecting. It read:
Dear Valued Customer of WRU,
Thank you for your purchase during our BOGO sale. We regret to inform you that this pet is a bonus item because it is slightly defective. Due to a negligent staff member, it developed blemishes during training that could not be removed. The staff member has been removed from our team. Please note there is nothing defective about its behaviour; each pet has gone through rigorous testing to ensure it meets the WRU’s high quality standard. Please enjoy your deal and remember to recommend the WRU to your friends and family.
The generic note was signed by the CEO in the usual printed way corporate messages were always signed. Warren wrinkled his nose at it, which unfortunately became another tic. New one to add to the list. He looked over the paper at the defective pet and then back to the note. Nothing seemed wrong with him so far. And what had someone done to the kid to make him “blemished”?
The defective pet shrunk in on himself under Master’s gaze. He knew what the man was reading, and felt the shame screaming from his cheeks. It wasn’t his fault. He tried to reassure himself. Not that that matters, his mind shot back. These thoughts were interrupted by Master.
“So, let’s get you boys clean. I read that’s important.” Warren looked around for his crutches before realising he’d left them in the kitchen when the delivery had come. “Can you go get the crutches from the kitchen, please?” He looked at the dark haired pet. “They’re leaning up against the table. It’s the doorway right behind me.”
The pet looked from Master to the wide pocket doors behind him. They were slid open and he could see red metal poles with cushioned areas at the top and handles halfway down. He stood as gracefully as he could and quickly brought them to Master.
“Follow me.” Warren said before setting the crutches under his arms and walking toward the stairs.

Multimedia Journal #1, Never Have I Ever
The main topic of my selected media 'Never Have I Ever', is showing the life of an Indian-American teenager, Devi Vishwakumar, following her father's sudden death. As she navigates the highs and lows of high school in America, she encounters may hardships such as struggles with social status, relationships with friends and family, and her own self-awareness. First, her struggle for social status, is a never-ending scuffle throughout the series. She constantly is seeking approval and validation from her fellow students. She goes for the hottest guy in the show right away, but also dates the smartest guy at the same time to keep her high status in that regard. Second, the struggle with her friends and family. She has hesitation about telling her friends things like how she really feels about Paxton (her bf), and throughout the show has a resentment towards arranged marriage, as Pati, her grandmother, attempts find her a "suitable Partner". Back to her friends, she really doesn't value them, and puts her eggs in the wrong places, often ditching her friends to hang out with boys. Third, Devi's struggles with self-identity are clearly evident throughout the show, this is first seen with her constantly questioning how much she really identifies with Indian culture and beliefs. Which leads into her next dilemma, the "challenger" or other Indian girl at the school. She feels insecure about who she is, and thus takes it out on the off-brand version of herself, despite thinking she is better initially, the do end up befriending one another after they realize they have more in common then she may have thought.
Tumblr media
Devi is lacking the confidence in her Indian roots, unlike her mother.
As mentioned above throughout the selection summary, Devi the main character has many struggles in regard to her race and ethnic identity. She feels the need to seek social status, while trying to uphold two cultures that differ drastically. This goes deeper into reflecting Indian culture and furthermore, women's roles in that culture. Similar to the Chinees women, they are expected to wait on their husbands, and arranged marriages are normal, this is one of the things Devi apposes as she is searching for her identity.

BARBARIAN (2022)
Starring Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, Justin Long, Matthew Patrick Davis, Richard Brake, Kurt Braunohler, Jaymes Butler, J.R. Esposito, Kate Bosworth, Sophie Sörensen, Brooke Dillman, Sara Paxton, Will Greenberg, Derek Morse, Trevor Van Uden, Zach Cregger, Kalina Stancheva and Devina Vassileva.
Screenplay by Zach Cregger.
Directed by Zach Cregger.
Distributed by 20th Century Studios. 102 minutes. Rated R.
Well it started out well. That’s something, right?
I’ll even go so far as to say that the first 30-40 minutes of Barbarian was terrific – a promising set up for a smart and funny and creepy genre film.
But boy howdy, did it ever fall apart quickly after that. The story got more and more nonsensical as it went on, venturing into new unneeded characters and plotlines popping up out of the blue. Not only that, but the characters also kept performing actions that were just so amazingly stupid that I walked out wondering what the hell I just watched.
I mean, I get that you have to give a certain amount of leeway in horror movies. The victims are always doing the wrong things, otherwise you would not have a story. As the commercial says, why go to the running car when you can hide in the creepy shed? However, even in the realm of stupid horror reactions, this group is particularly boneheaded.
It had a wonderful set-up, though.
Tess (Georgina Campbell), a young woman in Detroit for a job interview to work on a new documentary film, shows up at a little Airbnb which she had rented in the middle of a torrential downpour. The house itself seems cute enough, although it is in the middle of a wreck of a neighborhood which looks like something out of Khaboul. However, when she tries to get the key from the lock box, it turns out there is no key there.
It turns out that a guy named Keith (Bill Skarsgård) is already staying there. Keith seems to be nice, seems to be a popular musician, seems to be down to Earth and he had also rented the house. Somehow, they got double booked. It is the middle of the night, and no one is in the real estate office. It is pouring and a medical convention has the local hotels booked, so Keith suggests that she stay over with him.
So they stay together. He gives her the bedroom and sleeps on the couch. But who opened her door in the middle of the night? Who is making noises somewhere in the house? What is causing Keith to have nightmares? Doesn’t Keith look an awful lot like Pennywise the clown? And what is that strange hidden room off of the basement?
Then, suddenly these two characters are disposed of (so to speak), although one returns to the action later. Instead, the lead is taken over by a smarmy Hollywood actor named AJ (Justin Long) whose career is being ruined by a #MeToo charge. By coincidence, he is also the owner of the house in Michigan (which is where he is from, although it appears he’s never actually been to the house himself). Suddenly unemployed, nearly broke and with lawyers’ fees piling up, he goes to the house to see if he can sell it.
And any chance this had of being a good movie dies a violent death.
The inconsistencies and ridiculous plot points start to pile up. As noted earlier, every character does the exact wrong thing, often putting their lives in mortal danger for people they barely even know. There is even a flashback which kind of explains what happened, although the timeline consistency of this explanation makes absolutely no sense. And don’t even get me started on the VHS tape that has apparently been playing on an endless loop in the basement for about 40 years.
Barbarian is a dark and sordid film, which I guess is okay, many horror films are. It certainly has more than its share of surprises and first-time writer/director Zach Cregger (previously best known as a member of the comedy troupe The Whitest Kids U’ Know) certainly has an interesting visual sense.
Too bad his movie turns out to be a complete mess.

Hi Spooky !! So I’ve been getting through some of the recs you gave me for my Halloween marathon :33 AND i saw Child’s Play — which i liked way more than I thought i would, like it’s genuinely pretty funny And i cant wait to watch the sequels, leTS FUCKING GOOO — Yesterday was Idle Hands which sksksks wanna a silly little movie, ‘twas truly delightful, all the characters are fun/cool except for Anton most of the movie so it took a while for me to feel bad for him, BUT i did eventually, i really enjoyed it so it’s definitely up there for the rewatchbility of it !! — I CANT REMEMBER IF YOU RECOMMENDED POLTERGEIST OR NOT ??? I think you did but anyways I really liked it !!! The supernatural stuff is pretty mild + the 80s special effects make it not that scary to me, also i felt really bad for that fucking family ? What the hell ?!?! The dad was the fucking mvp he did The Most and he looked great doing it (10/10 - could watch again)
NOW for movies that ik you didn’t recommend but have been mentioned here at some point: Black Telephone and Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker. I saw someone recommended BT for you a whole ago and if you haven’t had the time yet to watch it please know it’s super worth it !!!! The main characters are really good and interesting and the acting is just phenomenal, specIALLY THE KIDS WTH, AND theres a bit of a supernatural thing to it but it was just fun/good for the plot and not so much trying to get you to shit ur pants, ya know?
AND for BBNM, i was very excited for this movie, to me it was a classic like 80s slasher, the tENSION, the creative like weapon choices, the like twist/break the killer goes through (like after its clear to us/other characters they did it) and THE ACTORS ARE JUST PHENOMENAL — like the aunt is/has been basically grooming her nephew since he was 3 and god does it show, some scenes are so creepy, and moments were someone would you know question her/ her actions, he doesn’t even Think to doubt her, it was terrible (but in a good way, story wise) OH AND BILL PAXTON, he doesn’t show up a lot (i think with dialogue for 2 or 3 scenes maybe) and he plays classic homophobic with daddy issues so 😐 but he did look good tho so theres that
STAR THIS IS LIKE WEEKS UPON WEEKS LATE FORGIVE ME 🥲
Idle hands is such a dark humor dumbass slap stick but I love it 🤣 Listen, I just thought he had the worst asthma of his life I didn't even know what weed was till I was like 11 but as a kid seeing that hand terrified me and child me remembered it being so scary and adult me rewatched it and I was like....What? This is the movie that terrified me??? afjsafkjs
POLTERGEIST! That completely slipped my mind, I didn't watch it often but I do remember parts of it and it's really good. And I did see the black phone!!! It was so good I mean the protagonist was so smart and using the ghost of the children was a haunting aspect I didn't expect but so glad they did it. Gwen was my favorite character she reminded me of how I was as a kid and I also have prophetic dreams like her. So does my one grandmother. We both dream of family deaths and major events going to happen and it almost always comes true so it was so different to see them utilize that in the movie. I went in expecting a kidnapping survival and got so much more!!
And bro I have GOT to watch it!! I couldn't find it under Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker so I saw someone recommend searching Night Warning and there it is (Idk why they picked these titles bc it makes it so much harder to find bro ong) and yeeaahhh I kind of expect the homophobia and sexism in 80s movies I just try to take it with a grain of salt I think that's why I like Lost Boys and Near Dark sm bc...Wow...An 80s movie with an 80s aesthetic...and no homophobia or sexism or racism? OMFG FINALLY!!
Another one with Bill I watched but was HORRIBLE was Boxing Helena. I'm usually not a snob with movies but it was like bad cheesy softcore porn for someone with weird fetishes. The guy/doctor is basically an incest mommy issues guy bc of his vapid mother who just 'died' out of nowhere and he inherited her home and he's engaged to a wonderful woman that is also a doctor and too good for him but the kicker is he is OBSESSED with a woman that he had a one night stand with years ago and wants nothing to do with him but he's a toxic fucking weirdo that does everything he can (Including cutting her limbs off....You heard me.) in order to make her dependent on him bc...Shocker; she reminds him of his shitty Mom. You are filthy rich go to therapy you freak. I felt zero remorse for him and the movie tries to make you sympathize with him and it's like...Why?
THE ONLY part, I do mean, THE ONLY FUCKING PART worth watching is the explict Bill Paxton sex scene the first 15 minutes he has the woman's entire boob in his mouth while he's grinding her hips on his uh...And MOANING while he does it...I'd scream w/o the s on the spot if I was her istg 💦 Like I was so flustered bc I DID NOT expect it to be that explict 😳😳😳
He plays an asshole rockstar lover to the woman but compared to the guy we're supposed to sympathize with at least he's not wackadoo nuts tbh. I will take cheating asshole over whatever the fuck is wrong with the doctor if I had to pick....And I mean...Lolk at him-
Tumblr media
Like I can't show any scenes from his part in the movie but if you want to watch like the first 15 minutes then skip to the end where Bill's character pistol whips the guy holding her hostage and mutilating her. I mean, Bill's character beats the shit out of him (Again, so hot of Bill's character to do that🥵😤) understandable bc I regret wasting almost 2hrs of my life watching it
WHY IS THE HOTTEST BILL PAXTON SCENE I'VE EVER SEEN IN THE SHITTIEST MOVIE??? WHY 😭😭😭
If ppl like it good for them but I deadass couldn't hardly focus on it at all it was just a hot mess and the ending had me fuming lmfao
I also watched The Watcher and Nope and those were so so good!!!! Especially Nope!

Divinci Code crack confirms it.
Charles Harrelson
Tumblr media
Dirk: I am a Dutch man living in Ireland. Originally from a small former mining town called Geleen in the province of Limburg in the Netherlands.
Bloogers and writers note CHarles Harrelson is fit for the JFK assassination https://dirkdeklein.net/2016/06/18/charles-harrelson-woody-harrelsons-father-and-contract-killer/
Drug dealer Chagra later testified during Harrelson’s trial that Harrelson claimed to have shot Kennedy and drew maps to show where he was hiding during the assassination. Chagra said that he did not believe Harrelson’s claim, and the AP reported that the FBI “apparently discounted any involvement by Harrelson in the Kennedy assassination.”According to Jim Marrs in 1989’s Crossfire, Harrelson is believed to be the youngest and tallest of the “three tramps” by many conspiracy theorists.Marrs stated that Harrelson was involved “with criminals connected to intelligence agencies and the military” and suggested that he was connected to Jack Ruby through Russell Douglas Matthews, a third party with links to organized crime who was known to both Harrelson and Ruby. Lois Gibson, a well-known forensic artist, matched photographs of Harrelson to the photographs of the youngest-looking of the three “tramps”
The JFK link doesn’t stop there. The Actor Bill Paxton who was in one episode of Frasier(a spin off series off Cheers, in which Woody Harrelson starred with Kelsey Grammer) had been at a JFK event on the 22 November 1963, the day JFK was shot.
In Dirks's post is a picture of that event. Bill Paxton is the little boy sitting on the shoulders of a man presumably his Father.

Lois Gibson (born c. 1950)[citation needed] is an American forensic artist who holds a 2017 Guinness World Record for most identifications by a forensic artist. She also drew the first forensic sketch shown on America's Most Wanted, which helped identify the suspect and solve the case.
The Tall Tramp was the Stunt Double of Lee Harvey Oswald. THe sending of the reciepts to LHO and placing near the Stunt Double's activity sells LHO was the sniper when Charles Harrelson was CH tied to E. Howard Hunt family.

1962 September 28 Meeting with a delegation of the Gandhi Peace Foundation, 5:00PM
Gandhi was not a pacifist. … He believed in self-defence but he also believed that for a movement, such as independence from the British, peaceful resistance would be less costly in human lives than armed opposition. He saw inaction as cowardice and a sin greater than ill-considered aggression.
Chagra admitted to his role in the murder of Judge Wood and to the attempted murder of a U.S. Attorney. Jo Ann Harrelson was also convicted of conspiracy and perjury.

Okay this is kind of mean but I feel like the people who hate Paxton were people who were unpopular in high school and popular guys didn’t give them the time of day…. And now they hate him because of that…. I know it’s really mean but I’ve just noticed a pattern with a lot of anti-Paxton people…
Hmm I kinda see your point.. but.. I was bullied for years by the popular groups in my school and I'm out here defending Paxton soo. In my opinion people who hate Paxton, put him in a box because of the stereotype. Majority of the anti Paxton arguments are that he's a player, people only like him because he's hot, he's the "bad boy" etc bc we've seen so many shows and movies with the Popular jock x unpopular nerd trope and most of them have the popular jock, be a player, who is dumb and a douche. But we've seen from season 1 and 2 that Paxton isn't like the stereotypical jock.

The Wild One (Laslo Benedek, 1953) Cast: Marlon Brando, Mary Murphy, Robert Keith, Lee Marvin, Jay C. Flippen, Peggy Maley, Hugh Sanders, Ray Teal, John Brown, Will Wright, Robert Osterloh, William Vedder, Yvonne Doughty. Screenplay: John Paxton, based on a story by Frank Rooney. Cinematography: Hal Mohr. Production design: Rudolph Sternad. Film editing: Al Clark. Music: Leith Stevens. The best performance in The Wild One isn't Marlon Brando's, it's Lee Marvin as Chino, the head of a rival motorcycle gang. Marvin brings a looseness and wit to the role that is lacking in Brando's performance, though the role itself calls on Brando to do little but act sullen. He also looks a little porky in his jeans and leather jacket, and his somewhat high-pitched voice gives an epicene quality to Johnny Strabler, leader of the Black Rebels Motorcycle Club. Brando does, however, get the film's most familiar line: When Johnny is asked what he's rebelling against, he's drumming to the beat of the music on the jukebox and retorts, "What've you got?" But it's a measure of the general mediocrity of The Wild One that this exchange is immediately reprised by someone telling others about Johnny's retort, essentially stepping on the line. There are a few good moments in the film, mostly contributed by Marvin and by some effective choreography of the motorcycle riders, as in the scene in which good girl Kathie Bleeker (Mary Murphy) is menaced by the gang and then rescued by Johnny. But censorship sapped the life out of the film: The motorcycle gangs are scarcely more intimidating than fraternity boys on a spree. There's an attempt to spice things up with a scene between Johnny and Britches (Yvonne Doughty), a female hanger-on with the rival gang, suggesting that they once had something going on, but the bit goes nowhere and seems mainly designed to allow the actress to display her perky breasts in a tight sweater. As with any of the countless biker movies that capitalized on the box office success of The Wild One, there's a queer subtext to be explicated in all this male bonding, but it doesn't add much to a movie that now seems as dated as the flaming youth films of the 1920s.

There is a cat in our neighborhood who keeps coming into our house to eat our cats' food. His name, we have learned, is Oreo, but we often refer to him as Burglar Cat. And we're just very used to seeing him around the house. I'll go into the laundry room and see a cat running like hell across the room from where the cat food is to the cat door (he always runs, so we know he knows he's not supposed to be doing this), and I'll yell "OREO!!! >:(" and everyone is just like, oh, Burglar Cat again.
One time he managed to get into the house proper and then got stuck and hid under our couch behind the boxes there, and Elsa (my cat) kept meowing and freaking out, trying to tell us something was amiss under the couch, but we didn't believe her and told her she was freaking out over nothing. Sorry, Elsa. In our defense, Elsa is very vocal about her displeasure and will often kvetch about nothing in particular. Boy who cried wolf, etc etc.
Another time my brother in law managed to catch him at around 2AM and put him in a cat carrier for the rest of the night, thinking the experience would discourage him from coming back. It did not. He is still a regular visitor in our home.
He often sneaks in through my sister's window to eat her cat's food as well. Her cat, Paxton, has grow accustomed to this and will just like, let him. My sister will go into her room and won't even be mad at Oreo, she'll be mad at Paxton for not protecting the motherland. Please understand that Paxton has the vibe of someone always wearing a Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses. He's just vibing at all times. So my sister will be like "Really? You're not gonna do anything?" and Paxton will be like :)
Anyways, I always wonder what it is like to experience that little fear. I'm pretty sure being held hostage in that cat carrier for a few hours was the worst thing that's ever happened to this guy, because he seems to have little-to-no concept of danger.
(Disclaimer that I'm opposed to letting cats outside but unfortunately Oreo's family does not agree, and my sisters--who I live with--think their cats are exceptions. I keep my cat inside.)
