The fact a man from Galar visited the Hisui region and promptly freaked the fuck out because the Ponyta were on fire and he didn't understand why is the exact kind of stuff I love to hear about.
The self aware au is soooo good! I was wondering how the characters would react if they could just hear the player (not the vessel) gushing about how adorable and amazing their Pokemon is and their Pokemon range from cute baby Pokemon to ones like alpha Garchomp. Like, they pass by the player while the player sends out their mons and hear "AAAAAAHHH SO CUTE OMG IM GOING TO CRY" I think thatd be fun. Have a good day, stay hydrated:)
In the same way you would watch someone pet a tarantula, a komodo dragon, a black mamba or other dangerous and deadly animals; with terror, wonder and with the certainty that you are either a madman or you have the courage of the fools.
They would probably end up thinking that both possibilities are valid.
And this would be true for all Pokemon, as most NPCs are terrified of Bidoofs and Starlys.
Sure, there would be exceptions, but seeing you petting a Garchomp or a Hisuian Zoroark, even those exceptions would look at you the same way. Especially if you start using the same tone that you sometimes tend to do with your cats, dogs and other pets.
Everyone would look at you with newly founded terror and respect.
Mainly because, the question they would eventually ask themselves: if you find even the most terrifying Pokemon in Hisui cute and cuddly, what kind of scary monsters are there where you exist?
I wasn’t going to post this, but I think it turned out super cute, so I’m posting it a bit after the fact anyway!! It’s my Pokemon OC Carrie with her team, including my Umbreon OC, Yaki!! Carrie is a sentient npc who can jump from game save to game save via local wireless and online connection. ((: She steals in game items from protagonists that treat their pokemon like trash.
Ok but imagine being an NPC in pokemon Scarlet or Violet, you hear that there is a new transfer student arriving.
Then you hear that they are neighbors with the battle crazy bitch that's a champion and often thought of as the strongest trainer, and they've already become friends.
And then you find out the new student barely made it past there house before falling off a fucking cliff.
Something I’ve always wondered about is the recluse who gives you Fly in the Kanto games (the lady with the Fearow). She lives on Route 16 where you can’t get to without Cut, and that’s all well and good. But three years later, she’s living on Route 28, in an area where the average Trainer (at least the player) needs 16 Badges and permission from Professor Oak to even visit! Like, who even IS this woman?!? Is she an uber-powerful Trainer herself or something?!? I dunno, that sounds like untapped superboss potential to me.
Hi there @ether-gearhead!
Good question! Yeah she definitely sounds like superboss potential to me. Honestly if I had to guess she might be a hall of famer of the Indigo league
Remember that prior to Blue (RBGY/FRLG) and Trace (LGPE) there wasn't actually a sitting champion. It was a recent development around the events of gen 1 that they wanted someone who made it through the elite four to actually be at the top (hence why Oak has that email on his computer asking him to come back to the league as he like Professor Rowan is a former hall of famer).
Given the fact that a lot of Gen 1 (and gen 2) media seems to show the league as important but subdued (as in it's not a huge focus of daily life like say in Galar) it's very likely that former Hall of Famers just went onto live their lives quietly. Gen 1 was really a coming of age story (amidst the backdrop of strained relationships) so the idea of their being former champions who after beating the Elite Four decided to live their quietly makes sense.
So the lady who ends up living on Route 28, a route that you need a lot of badges to even access, is probably a former champion who just didn't feel like throwing hands with a kid and rather just help them out by giving them HMs. For every champion like Nemona or Red who crave battle and seek it out constantly even after becoming champion, there's plenty more across the world who probably just want to live in peace even after they accomplish such a historic feat (I know this isn't cactusverse post but this is a huge theme across all four of my champion OCs at some point in their live).
