Solarpunks, is it ok to feed (pigeon appropriate things) to pigeons in a city?
I got told to stop feeding them because "they make everything super dirty" but idk. with so much unemployment it'd be so nice to make street cleaning jobs (god knows Madrid needs that 💀 dirty ass city, but no, human filth is ok /sarcasm).
But I feel so bad for them because they're literally domesticated animals like cats that we just. left in the street.

State of the bike-bling. Installed some new leather bar tape, which is awesome, but I botched the wrapping on the inside of the curves so I will need to redo it at some point. No matter. Got a new bell and new bottle cages as well, everything is copper because I have a problem. The rear wheel which was bent in last months accident was replaced, but otherwise she’s doing just great and gets me through the 29 mile round trip commute most days!

These Twitter threads from last week are so good about explaining part of why this is my least favorite Christian gospel story (Jesus flipping tables at the Temple).
In order:
WorstSamaritan:
Today is Holy Monday for Christians, in which many of them will be preaching the story of Jesus desecrating the Temple.
So. I will say only this.
I expect Christians who have any thought to the well-being of their Jewish neighbors to treat their sermons with the greatest care. After 1,900 years of desecrating and destroying tens of thousands of Jewish houses of worship, I expect you to talk about the OG desecration and violation of Jewish holiness with the most extreme and tender care.
That means no mentions of usury, moneylending, banking, capitalism inflated prices, widows, exploiting the poor, auctions, or anything else that does not actually appear in the text.
If you’ve been under the impression that these things DO appear in the text, examine why.
Delafina777:
I think a key component for Christians to not tell Holy Week stories in an antisemitic way is for them to understand that the sociopolitical situation in first-century Judaea bears almost no resemblance to the context of contemporary Western Christians.
JustSayXtian:
Similarly, the role of the 2nd Temple bears almost no resemblance to the role of a church in the modern world. If you're looking for an analogy to understand the liturgy this week, the outer courtyard was more like the international terminal of an airport.
It was a transitional space between two spheres of authority. Nothing of spiritual importance happened in that space, it was designated and designed for the transition. Anyone could be in it, but only authorized people could move *through* it.
And it's important that *this is what it was designed for*. In the same way we need a designated area for people to move from one country's authority to another's, we needed an area for people to move from occupied authority to Jewish authority. That was the intended purpose.
If you want to analogize to the modern world, don't imagine Jesus smashing up a loan shark operating in a cathedral. Imagine Jesus going goblin mode in Terminal 4 of JFK, breaking up the CXI booths, throwing stuff off the shelves at the Duty Free.
"there were money changers at the temple!!!!"
Yeah in the outer courtyard for designated money changing so you didn't use money that deified Caesar and Roman God's/the emperor all over because that would be idolatrous. Jesus flipped tables and as a direct result pilgrims wouldn't be able to properly observe the holy festival. Marvelous story, truly.
