alright RDR2 folk I’m back on my bullshit again.
it seems to me that most folk agree that the flowers on Arthur’s grave are mexican butterfly weed/bloodflower and red poppies
Tumblr media
HOWEVER. those little red flowers do not look like poppies to me. poppies are a bit larger and more stalky than whatever those are, as seen in the below image.
Tumblr media
so I did some googling and I’m thinking that the red flowers are likely pansies!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they look to be the right shape/size and have that kind of dark center before the yellow, and they also have a lot of interesting meaning
Tumblr media Tumblr media
that paired with the context of Charles being the one to bury Arthur. Oof.
I’m not 100% sold on them being pansies as the leaf shape isn’t quite right and they don’t have enough yellow. They could also be petunias or primrose
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(interesting to note that petunias most commonly symbolize anger and resentment, while primrose can symbolize youth, yearning, renewal, or optimism.)
cursing rockstar for not making it more evident what the fuck those red flowers are. let me talk about flower symbolism goddamnit (and also further the charthur agenda).
If anyone has any thoughts as to what they could be pls chime in!

landoscar: primrose (primula vulgaris)
symbol of youth, renewal and optimism
in the victorian language of flowers, giving someone a primrose is a sign of young love
they're nicknamed fairy cups because in english folklore, it is believed that eating a primrose would make you see a fairy

the kiss (inspired by 'the kiss' by gustav klimt)
Primroses - As these flowers blossom early in spring, primroses are associated with renewal, eternity, and youth. In early Victorian era, gifting primroses symbolized young love and the emotions that come with loving someone.
Sunflower - Because of the myth of Clytie and Apollo, the sunflower most commonly means adoration and loyalty.

Top 5 Fave Oneshots I’ve Written
Will include the title & summary. I’m very proud of these. The link to read them will be in the title as well… Enjoy!
Her Soul Is In The Primroses - Primroses symbolize a lot — youth, renewal, young love, safety… It could be admired for the variety of colors, a perfect gift, and you could make oils or fragrances out of it… But for Katniss, it was a small, dainty thing that was a reminder of her sister.
The Surprise - Katniss has always hated birthdays and would constantly tell Peeta not to make a big deal out of it. This goes on for years, even if he made small attempts - she would not go along with it. It’s her 25th birthday and he really wants Katniss to enjoy the day. His plan? A surprise birthday party… But what he doesn’t know is she has a surprise for him too.
Dandelions & Picnics - Peace has finally been restored once the War is over. Peeta & Katniss are back in District 12, still learning to heal and grow. They decide to have a picnic date in the meadow, away from the worries and reminders of the past. It was just them and the dandelions.
Katniss’ Nightmare - Despite the rebellion being over, nightmares and flashbacks haunt the Victors from District 12. Katniss has a nightmare that Peeta dies in the first Games. She wakes up in a fright and is reassured.
July 4th - It’s a few years after the Rebellion, but Katniss still thinks of the Reaping and how her sister is tied to those specific memories. Peeta tries to cheer her up to make the day a little bit better.

and I had to look this one up, but Isaac's birth month is February
Fun little game, send your muse’s birth month and Victoria will tell them their birth month flower and what means in the language of flowers. || accepting !
Tumblr media Tumblr media
" I'll be honest, you don't seem like the flower guy type, but I'm always willingly to share knowledge about them." Victoria admitted with a little chuckle at the end of her state before she decided to move on. "This your month has two flowers but the first one relies heavily on the colors. Starting with the first, it's violets. Violets carry various symbolic meanings, depending on their color and context. In general, they represent modesty, humility, and spiritual wisdom. Some specific meanings associated with the different colors of violets include purple violets with deep love, loyalty, and devotion. White for purity, innocence, and humility. Finally, yellow with happiness and lightheartedness. Violets are also associated with the ancient Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite, and the Roman goddess Venus, further emphasizing their connection to love and beauty. You'll have to think about what's within in you to see if it connects. But you could also use violets as a way of speaking to someone and confessing your feelings towards them. After all, it is the language of flowers. But moving on to the second flower, it's Primroses. They carry various symbolic meanings, often associated with the arrival of spring and the renewal of life. They represent youth, innocence, and new beginnings, as they are among the first flowers to bloom after the winter season."
Writer's Notes:
Ahhh his birthday is literally next month! Me personally? I think the purple fits given Isaac is a werewolf and was part of a pack! As for Primroses, I think you might have to dig a little deep if you wanna headcanon the meaning of the flower, either way! If you do decide to headcanon it, I can't wait to see it! Link for the guide is here ! [XXX]

Using bambooless incense sticks crafted from carnation essence provides a consistent and pleasant burn, free from the inconsistencies and pollutants often associated with traditional bamboo-based sticks. Peter As Spring
An Explanation/Defense.
I’ve noticed that most people, when comparing the Pevensie children to the seasons, think of Lucy as Spring & Peter as Summer. And, with their reasoning, I can easily see how Lucy could be spring. She definitely embodies the youthfulness & hope & light & growth we associate with the season. But I cannot, for the life of me, see how Peter is summer; especially not when that means he is somehow more summery than Lucy is.
I mean, summer is HEAT. It’s sunlight and everything is deeply alive. It’s openness and freedom. And while Peter is kind, and warm, and wise, the qualities that make summer what it is are much more suited to Lucy. In fact, in the books, it is Lucy who - at the name of Aslan - “got the feeling you have when [...] it is the beginning of the holidays or the beginning of summer.” Lucy is already associated with summer.
But what makes Peter spring, specifically? [There is a TL;DR at the bottom if you don’t care for my rambling about my points.]
Often the focus is put on the latter half of spring; the part when everything begins blooming & it becomes warm. But where I’m from, spring is a fickle season. Spring is about the melting snow, long before it is about anything growing... and just because everything has become green does not mean it won’t snow again. So in my eyes, spring is not about warmth & blooming so much as it is about becoming warm, and new growth. It’s about the first shoots of hope pushing through the earth, not about a hope that is steady and strong. It is about the fear of cold, but coming up anyways; courage in spite of everything. It’s about letting go of your inhibitions or fear or complacency and letting yourself begin to bloom. Spring means something is beginning.
This is Peter.
He’s not hot-headed; he doesn’t lose his temper easily. He’s a warm person, sure, but summer isn’t just warmth; it’s heat. While Lucy is ready to fly off the handle often, especially in PC, Peter acts as a peacemaker. A mediator. Someone in between.
Peter does not believe in Narnia at first, but before he sees it, he becomes open to the idea, due to his conversation with Professor Kirke. While he may not yet believe, he is willing to let some light in.
Peter is known for showing courage even when he is afraid, and making himself do what is needed, even when he doesn’t want to: “[He] did not feel very brave; [...] but that made no difference to what he had to do.”
And yet, for all his growth in LWW, he still doubts & hesitates in PC. He doesn’t see Aslan when Lucy says he is there, though he still “stares his eyes sore” & hopes she is right. But it’s a fickle hope. He doesn’t hang his decision upon it.
I want to discuss a headcanon, now, which is that Peter struggles with mild depression, as well as how this further makes me associate Peter with spring. I will share a few quotes from various fanfictions I have written and explain their context here:
“Then when the cold made Peter feel frozen with fear and regret, he'd spend his time at home next to a roaring fire, which promised him that they would have spring again. After all, Peter always felt more like a king during the spring.” This is from the very first Narnia fanfiction I wrote, “Always Winter.” This moment cemented the symbolism in my head. Peter feels more like a king in spring, because that’s when he was crowned. Spring makes him feel light & young again. Spring allows him to breathe.
“It was one of the first flowers of the spring: the spring that conquered always-winter: the spring that conquered death. And in his mind, the primrose was a reminder of Aslan: of his strength, of his impossibility, and yet of his steadfastness. It was He, after all, who conquered winter. It was He who brought spring again.” In this fic, “Poppies & Primroses,” I once again considered Peter & his relationship with spring.
“In the daylight, with his friends and family close, he was happy. In the evening, surrounded by friendly conversation and high spirits, he was happy. In the spring, under beautiful skies and atop fresh grass, he was happy. Peter loved Narnia. He loved his people, and his country, and Aslan, and being a king. He had to be happy. How could he not be happy?” This fic, titled “Happier,” was written entirely about Peter’s depression. Like I said, I believe it’s a mild depression, and it comes and goes. Canonically, Edmund is “graver and quieter” than Peter, so we know Peter is not melancholy 24/7. But there is still a weight under that happiness, which will be read next.
“He blamed a lot of things, like his age, and his worries, and his memories, and battles, and wounds; and in a way he was right. But he didn't know that years of battles and bloodshed left scars he couldn't see. The insignificance came and went, as he gathered with family and friends, and as he prayed, to the point he sometimes wondered if he even felt it at all. But sometimes he still felt like nothing. Sometimes he felt like stone.” This, also from “Happier,” is where I introduced the depression specifically. Sometimes Peter felt heavy, for reasons he didn’t understand. (We don’t know enough about Peter during the Golden Age to say this cannot be true. So while it is definitely a headcanon, and thus not necessarily true to the books, I do believe it makes good sense for his character.)
“When Peter hit the floor of the spare room, he felt the change instantly: a weight gone, a cloud lifted. He assumed it came with his youth that he loved to move again, and that he never seemed to get tired the way he used to. He never felt nothingness again. The battle scars he'd received, and the facial hair he'd grown, had faded away on his journey out the wardrobe, and for quite a while he didn't realize that the illness in his mind had been erased, too.” THIS is where my headcanon differs from many others: yes, Peter struggled with mental illness, but it changed with the rest of him when he came back out of the wardrobe at the end of the Golden Age. (The reasoning for this is worth another post, probably. In essence, I believe Peter was meant to be in England more than Narnia - Magnificent King though he was. Obviously they all were, but Peter especially. Narnia helped him begin to grow, but he needed England more in the long run.) Although, I should mention that with a couple other headcanons I have running through my head now, I do believe it’s possible the depression returned when Peter was in his 20′s or so.
“For a moment, just a moment, Peter did not believe in ending worlds. He believed only that there would be spring again.” From “A Reflection of Closed Doors,” a fic which is very fundamental to my vision of Peter Pevensie. Once again I attribute the quote “we shall have spring again” to Peter. The fic also compares Peter to closed doors; the idea that he is always in between, and never fully where he wants to be. This fits with the idea that spring is the beginning (and yet also the ending), rather than being fully self-sufficient. It’s always either looking ahead or looking back.
“He didn't know whether she pretended, or whether her hope was genuine, but he wanted - needed - to believe it was the latter. [...] Wherever Peter's faith rested, hope had been built shakily on top of it, shifting with the wind, and sometimes blowing away completely.” This comes from “Lessons Never Learned,” which is largely from Peter’s perspective, but is centered around both he and Lucy. I suppose this isn’t necessarily evidence I’ve written of his depression, but it is about his heaviness & fickle hope.
“When Peter held Rhindon he was reminded of easier days. The sword was lighter than he remembered, but it was perfect for his hands. His childhood came back to him. For the first time in a long time, to be a king was to be a kid again. The magic began anew; a game and an adventure all at once; a renewed belief in heroes.” Also from “Lessons Never Learned,” this goes along with the quote from “Happier” about him finding his light again after leaving Narnia at the end of LWW. Even when he goes back in PC, he is lighter than he used to be, and that’s important. He is able to grow again, now that, so to speak, the snow has melted.
“But kings rarely begin and end with a single conquest; battle follows battle when the world is new and the winter still looms overhead. Over time Peter lost that faith that he would make it home, in fact, he began to expect the opposite. And worse than that, it wasn’t long until he didn’t fear it.” This is from an unpublished fic, which I kind of like, but also worry is too morbid. That being said, it definitely drives home the idea that Peter is depressed. I do not believe he wants to die, by any means. But, at his lowest, he also feels passive about it. Peter fully expects to die in battle, and this thought doesn’t bother him... at least, not much.
The point of those examples is that I believe Peter is constantly moving in and out of the symbolic “cold” or “winter.” Peter does not always feel warm and alive and joyful and free. He often feels heavy. He also NEEDS hope more than the others do, in his way. He often feels hopeless, but he seeks it desperately.
TL;DR -- Spring represents fickleness, both retreating cold & growing warmth, new bursts of life and hope, becoming rather than being, and beautiful new beginnings. Peter has hope but doubts it, often feels “cold” but moves towards the light, acts with courage even when he does not feel brave, and is always growing in life, hope, faith, joy, bravery, and wisdom. Peter is always finding new beginnings. Peter is spring.

Flower Symbolism in Tsurune
Tumblr media
The amount of plant representation in this franchise has considerably increased with the release of the DVDs and KyoAni’s latest spring campaign, so it seems more than appropriate to make this kind of post right now. This post has been bettered thanks to @bowcrazy. Most of the symbolisms refers to individual characters, so I’ve separated them by the official character line-up order.
I’m gonna start with the ones that represent everybody.
Yesterday-today-tomorrow: I’m guessing that this one is the flower that appears during the opening and ending. They seem to also be the ones appearing behind Minato in the DVD bonus artworks as well, so I’ll get to them below soon enough.
Iris: This one is mentioned twice in the novel, and in one of those mentions, they seem to refer to the Kazemai boys. It has many meanings, the most common ones being faith, hope, wisdom, courage, valor and admiration. In Japanese flower language, they’re associated with good news, glad tidings and loyalty. Gifting someone with irises normally means “your friendship signifies so much to me”, and they’re often used in Japan on Boys’ Day.
Now, the flowers below are the ones shown behind each of the characters in the artworks that come with the DVD/Blu-ray sets.
Sen & Man
Amaryllis: Stands for pride and self-confidence. Its message is “if you’ve got it, flaunt it”, and boy, are the twins arrogant. But here’s what’s truly interesting about this flower: it’s normally associated with one-sided feelings, lmao. The red ones, like most red flowers, are linked to passion and love, be it requited or not. I really wanna try to pretend that Senichi staring at Shuu in that artwork instead of ahead like his brother is doing has absolutely nothing to do with this, but damn, it’s hard. I won’t lie; this kind of depiction of the Kirisaki trio (literally every single thing about it) had been on my official art wishlist for a long time.
Shuu
Tulip: Its general significance is “perfect, enduring love”, but there’s also a variety of other meanings to it:
Undying passionate love, whether the passion is spurned or returned
Royalty and a regal nature
Forgotten or neglected love
Abundance, prosperity, and indulgence
Charity and supporting the less fortunate
There’s probably no better flower to describe Shuu’s character. The undying love surely refers to archery *cough* and Minato *cough*. He does have a regal, noble-like nature, and has been overflowing with talent from the very start. The neglected love might be a reference to his family, but it might also apply to Shuu hitting a wall at the end of volume 1. The part about charity and supporting the less fortunate is probably an allusion to Shuu growing softer and helping out the twins after Manji gets target panic. Moreover, the tulips behind Shuu in that artwork are white, which are used to claim worthiness.
Nanao
Osmanthus: The flowers that represent the Kazemai boys have very similar meanings and I’m pretty sure that’s on purpose. The osmanthus signifies happiness, good fortune and prosperity. This flower is known for being attention-grabbing due to its strong scent, and that may refer to Nanao’s popularity with girls. It’s also nicknamed “emperor’s flower” and “emperor’s jasmine” in some languages, which might be a reference to how Nanao is depicted as prince-like in the novel.
Kaito
Cornflower: This one also stands for good fortune and prosperity. However, it has a special focus on friendship as well, and considering that “friendship” is the keyword of Kaito’s character arc, it only makes sense. This flower comes in a variety of colors, but there are only blue and pink ones behind Kaito. The main people of Kaito’s character arc and development other than Kaito himself are Nanao and Seiya, so the colors surely represent the two of them respectively. The fact that the crushing majority of the flowers is blue is without doubt a purposeful detail.
Ryouhei
Peony: Yet another good fortune and prosperity flower. They also carry the meaning of bashfulness. The ones behind Ryouhei are red, which is considered a symbol of luck. The message of peonies is “striving to act honorably” and “sharing one’s love with others to improve their lives as well”.
Sunshine child exists to bless everyone. No news here.
Seiya
Daisy: This one has different meanings depending on its variations, but the generally accepted meanings are innocence, purity, new beginnings and true love. Giving daisies to someone also normally means that the sender might be keeping a secret.
Daisies are often used to represent motherhood as well. The ones behind Seiya are English daisies, which are often paired with primroses in order to symbolize motherly love.
Minato & Masaki
The symbolism resolving around these idiots comes in a set and it’s literally impossible to separate them since one either also applies to the other or is about one’s feelings regarding the other.
I’ll start with the flowers on the DVD/Blu-ray’s artworks.
Jersey lily: Lilies carry a variety of meanings, but red ones stand specifically for passion. Jersey lilies, on their own, normally represent:
Perseverance and resilience
Happy memories
Brilliance, radiance
The messages of jersey lilies are “you have a lovely smile” (Minato would tell you about it, lmao) and “I look forward to when we meet once again”. Now the last one was a punch to the gut.
Yesterday-today-tomorrow: This one is also known as kiss-me-quick, and the irony is ridiculous. It’s a flower normally associated with the stages and the passage of time, as the name denounces. In Japanese flower language, it carries the meaning of:
Good fortune, just as everyone else
Inconstant, fickle person
Passionate
That’s a very Minato-like flower, considering how much he wavers and how open he is to doing the unexpected. The passion part goes without saying.
Now on with the novel stuff.
Oak: The trees surrounding Yata Shrine. It stands for wisdom and strength.
Bamboo: Minato compares Masaki’s shots with bamboo sprouts at some point. They symbolise resilience and inspiration.
Cherry blossom: The story begins with the first day of school, which means spring, which means cherry blossoms everywhere. There also seem to be cherry flower petals raining all over the DVD/Blu-ray artworks, which makes me believe that this flower applies to all the main characters. Still, Kirisaki doesn’t show up until the cherry blossoms are already gone, and Minato meets Masaki for the second time when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, so I dare say the flower applies to both of them in a very particular way.
This flower is used to remind people that life is short yet beautiful, often represent gentleness and femininity, and symbolize the short-lived beauty of youth. They’re also an allurance to new beginnings and the start/renewal of a cycle, since they are a common symbol of the coming of spring. They’re usually an allegory for romance as well, but plot devices aside, I don’t think this one should be considered.
Azalea: Amongst other things, they mean “remembering your home with fondness or wishing to return to it”, “caring for yourself and your family”, “temperance and emotional evenness”, and “delicate/developing passion”. The part of remembering home with fondness and wanting to return to it definitely refers to archery, and I’m pretty sure that this is emphasized by the fact that the chapter of the novel in which azaleas are mentioned is titled “Home”. “Caring for yourself” surely refers to both Minato and Masaki, but “caring for your family” might refer to Masaki alone in this case, since he was shooting in order to send his grandfather’s soul to rest. Temperance and emotional evenness surely refers to Masaki alone, lmao. Delicate and developing passion, though, refers to the two of them without a doubt.
In Japanese flower language, the message of azaleas is “take care of yourself for me”. Now this is an extremely fascinating piece of information, because Minato and Masaki basically act like that with each other all the time, both conscious and subconsciously. Masaki is always giving Minato advice on how to improve not only his technique but also his life, and all Minato learns from him never fails to turn out useful for very personal matters, and normally serves as Minato’s trigger to solve each and every one of his problems. In contraposition, Minato never shies away from showing how important Masaki is to him, which always instigates optimistic changes on Masaki as a person and influences on big decisions in that have impact not only in his life but also on Minato’s (because literally everything one does affects the other at some point). In a way, one usually takes the initiative to care for himself after receiving positivity and affection from the other.
Spotted bellflower: Bellflowers are a symbol of gratitude and unwavering love. For some reason, the author specifies spotted bellflowers, which are known for their heart-shaped leaves.
Primrose: Minato seems to be holding a bouquet of primroses in the newest art for KyoAni’s spring campaign, and rather than representing him, they most likely represent his feelings. This one has the connotation of something special and of telling somebody you can’t live without them. Its main meanings are youth, love, new beginnings, rapture, new life, blindness, birth/rebirth and supertition, and if this shit doesn’t make y’all flashback at the speed of light to Minato and Masaki’s encounters at night in Yata Shrine, I don’t know what would.
But wait. It gets worse.
Primroses are a representation of the many stages of life, but they mostly stand for youth due to also representing the incapability to have a realistic image of the world when we are in love, as the initial moments of love have people in reverie and blind them a bit. Another meaning that it carries is the fact that there’s an end to each life on this planet. All of that seems to bring back not only the nights in Yata Shrine but also the truck accident and what happened afterwards.
These flowers also seem to apply to volume 2, since they symbolize our fallacies about love and other people, which both lead to disappointments and teach us important lessons. It also stands for protection and safety, and that might as well refer to the entirety of both volumes.
Victorians consider primroses as a symbol of bashfulness, inconsistency, young loves, and neglected merits. The message of primrose is “I cannot live without you”, and Minato literally can’t live without a certain somebody, so it seems legit enough.

Note
would love to hear about class 2's eye shapes and the symbolism behind their names!
Sure!! :D These descriptions may be a bit messy but I wanna keep them brief :0
Tumblr media
Sun’s is the same as his namesake. He’s named after sunflowers, those symbolize adoration, and loyalty. Those are factors in his relationship with Moon, but also his general personality. His magic is sun empowerment, a fire-based magic that gets stronger with more sunlight.
Tumblr media
Moon’s, named after moonflowers, is a moon in the same vein. Moonflowers symbolize dreaming of love, and their magic is moon empowerment, a water-based magic that gets stronger with the phases of the moon.
Tumblr media
Continuing with the trend, Cherry’s eyes are cherries. She’s named after Cherry blossoms, symbolic of renewal, and the fleeting nature of life, these traits are found in her through her healing magic. They also symbolize Good education, feminine beauty, and kindness. She’s pretty and nice girl who is a good student!
Tumblr media
Camellia’s eyes… Have eyes in them. She has spirit magic, so the eyes represent how she sees dead souls. The symbolism for camellia flowers is very dense, but the main that applies to her one is “longing for someone who is missed”, it matches with her magic. The dead are missed.
Tumblr media
Pansy has direction magic, represented with the arrows in her eyes. Pansy flowers symbolize admiration for another person, and her reason for being a wizard is because she has someone who she looks up to. Someone who inspired her to become braver. And pansy is also a synonym for coward.
Tumblr media
Zinnia has energy magic, represent through energy bolts (A bit different from Fennel’s lightning bolts)! The flowers symbolize remembrance, loyalty and thinking of an absent friend, that’s represented though her motivation for being a wizard and her attitude towards her friends.
Tumblr media
Fungus’ are lilly pads, because he has plant magic and a froggy theme (See: his mask). Lilly pads are sort of his trademark and the main spell he uses. His name was chosen because it isn’t exactly a plant… So something is… Off. He’s a good kid he’s just kinda cryptic.
Tumblr media
Cactus’ are kind of like explosions, based on their explosion magic. The plants themselves are symbolic of motherhood, and they’re more or less the “mom friend”, also they’re kind of a “prick”.
Tumblr media
Cori’s is a comb, because she has hair magic!! Coriander is symbolic of love, lust, and hidden worth. Now the “lust” aspect of the symbolism doesn’t really come into play with her because she’s a highschooler, but she does have self-worth issues that lead into her feeling as if she needs to be with someone.
Tumblr media
Violet is a soul wizard, and the swirl in her eye is meant to represent a soul!! Violets are a flower symbolic of love between women, and well, she’s gay! It’s also a shade of purple, like her older brother’s namesake, lavender.
Tumblr media
Heliotrope has invisibility magic, so their eyes are a bit special in that they use more than just white. They use a second lighter shade of purple to make the sides seem transperant compared to the white stripe in the middle. Heliotrope flowers are symbolic of strength and eternal love, and Heliotrope themselves feel as if they’re weak but find strength through love.
Tumblr media
Bluebell has clairvoyance magic, so his eyes are meant to look kind of like a crystal ball. Bluebell flowers are symbolic of humility and gratitude, which are both things that Bluebell himself needs to learn throughout his arc.
Tumblr media
Almond has wood magic, so his eyes has little tree shapes. Though it is distinct from actual plant magic. Almond trees are symbols of resurrection, and this is a bit of a theme for Almond because of his heart.
Tumblr media
Primrose has drawing magic, whatever she draws comes to life, so here eyes have little pencil shapes. Her namesake, primrose flowers, are symbolic of youth and young love, and well, those are just things most highschoolers deal with!
Tumblr media
Jonquil’s eye shape is meant to look like a screw, because he’s a metal wizard! In terms of personality he’s the “friendship conquers all” type, which is fitting because jonquil flowers symbolize friendship! However they’re also in the narcissus family, associated with vanity. Though he’s not vein, he’s very cocky. Like a typical shounen protagonist attitude.
Tumblr media
Last but not least, Lavender! His pupils are pointing in two directions, up and down, to represent his gravity magic. Lavender flowers symbolize calmness, grace, and devotion. These aspects are part of his personality, but also a big part of the type of wizard he aspires to be. Lavender is also a shade of purple, like violet, the namesake of his younger sister.

Set up an altar, serve them cakes, and let them know they are not forgotten. If you wish to communicate with deceased friends and family, this is the best time of year. The veil thins the night of Samhain, making communication easy. Do NOT, however, entice spirits, disrespect them, call demons, or perform any other magic that is anything less than respectful. I repeat, don't do it. Samhain is also a great time to practice divination in the form of runes, scrying, tarot, tea readings, etc. Reflect over the previous year and perform blessing spells to ring in the new year. Astral projection and lucid dreaming is also much easier to perform on this night, but remember to be safe, Banishing magic, especially those for bad habits, are especially strong on this night. Please note this is not a complete list but a brief overview of symbols, colors, herbs, deities, and the like. _______

I wrote this a while ago, but it’s in memory of Primrose Everdeen. <3
Primroses symbolize a lot — youth, renewal, young love, safety… It could be admired for the variety of colors, a perfect gift, and you could make oils or fragrances out of it… But for Katniss, it was a small, dainty thing that was a reminder of her sister. The younger Everdeen was named after the flower - specifically the evening primrose - and it suited her very well. She was short and thin, but always seemed to light up a room. Her hair might as well match the yellow plant too, but of course, it’s not as vibrant. She had hope. She had a huge heart. She was a healer and would’ve been a doctor. She had more to live for… And now where was she? Dead, gone and never to be seen again. The explosion left no remains. She’ll never have a grave or a box of ashes from cremations. All Katniss had were memories, a few items laying around in the building at Victors Village and Buttercup. Prim might as well be compared to a shriveling weed on the side of her house now.
Ever since Peeta came home and planted those primroses, she couldn’t stop thinking more about her sister. Obviously, she’s more than grateful for the kind gesture - she likes them planted close to her home, actually. It gives the girl a sense of comfort, and to an extent, some closure. In a way, Prim was always going to be by her side and Katniss loved that idea. The only downside was she didn’t know how to garden and didn’t plan on learning soon. Katniss was still weaseling her way out of the depression she only fell deeper into when first arriving at Twelve. Since the weather became warmer and nature began to bloom, she was taking it day by day - whether it was a stroll in the forest, or she was hunting. Other than that, the gardening was taken care of by Peeta.
Part of her didn’t want to care for the plants, since her memory only linked them to her sibling. However, she’d have to face her weird fear eventually. Stupid, invasive thoughts would fill her brain. What if she accidentally killed the beautiful, yellow flowers? In a way, it’d be like killing Primrose! It was an odd way of thinking, but the grieving process made her dive deeper into the thought of objects and how they could hold so much meaning. Yes, there were more that could be found and planted to replace their spots – but these were special, handpicked by Peeta, some were still in the process of growing to their full potential and these were the first ones to be placed in the soil after the War’s aftermath. Before this, the Village had nothing and it was dull. The replacements wouldn’t mean as much. These flowers felt like they were meant to be Prim’s, that they carried her soul within them already. If they were to die, she’d want it to be naturally and when the colder seasons came around.
It’d take a few weeks for her to ask Peeta about gardening. He would teach her everything he knew about it - how much water they need and how many times a day, mentions of weed pulling and to be careful of any critters trying to nibble at the plants. She would learn fast, considering it wasn’t as hard as she thought it would be.
Gardening would end up becoming a hobby of hers; Haymitch and Greasy Sae were more than happy to see her outside frequently, tending to the small patch of flowers alongside the building. Peeta would help sometimes, until she fully got the hang of it and let her be. When it came down to the primroses, he would only ask her how they’re doing and would like to admire them. He decided to name every single one, just to get a reaction out of Katniss. She rolled her eyes and couldn’t help but to laugh. That day, the names just stuck.
Katniss thought it was ridiculous, feeling so attached to something that was sprouting out of the ground - it couldn’t respond, she knew that - but one day she finds herself talking to it… The girl was told it helps with their growth anyway. She spoke of Prim, about how beautiful they look and she hoped they were getting enough sunlight. It was just the small things. It made her happy.
Buttercup liked to join the primroses outside, whether he was alone or following at the brunette’s feet. The cat loved to lay in the soil beside them, no matter how many times Katniss scolds the damn animal not to. Despite the protests, the fluffball didn’t budge - even if the soil was wet! She decided to give up on correcting him, but definitely had to wash and comb his fur out later (which he absolutely hates).
When the temperature began to drop, Katniss knew she had to do something with the flowers. She didn’t want them outside and withering away, instead she wanted to put them to use. Carefully, she cut the primroses stems and brought them inside to place them in a vase filled with water. After that, she took a step back and smiled to herself. They were beautiful.
