El Malo
Chapter 3
Tumblr media
I sat on my bed that night looking at the moon through my window. Tony is a good man and he loves me and maybe I can love him, but I have doubts. Fuck. I’m such a bad person.
It's been six weeks since Oscar got out. I've been keeping myself busy by working at my sister’s beauty store and avoiding Oscar. And I’m doing a pretty good job at avoiding him, if I do say so myself. I was finally walking home after I finished helping my sister with her store when I spotted Jamal, Ruby, and Monse.
“Monse!” I shouted her name with a smile and sped up to greet them.
“Hey, when did you get back?”
“I just got back today, hey do you know why Ruby and Jamal aren’t talking to Cesar, he tells you everything cause these shitheads won’t tell me anything” She walked next to me to look at Jamal and Ruby with an eye roll. Just when I was going to answer, we heard someone blasting their music and when we turned to look, it was the familiar red impala coming down the street.
Ruby shook his head, “We can’t tell you what Cesar said.”
“Fine, then I’ll ask myself”
She walked on the street and stopped right in front of the Impala, forcing Oscar to stop the car.
“Hey, you crazy!”
I turned to Jamal and Ruby.
“What did Cesar say?” I asked. I was curious to know why Monse was so upset and why they weren’t talking to him.
“Cesar said he hit it” I gasped and turned to look at Monse leaned over talking to Oscar.
“Jamal!” Ruby yelled and Jamal quickly covered his mouth with his hand. He turned to me”, look just don’t tell Monse”
“I won’t, but you know the truth always comes out, I’ll talk to-“
“Hey Y/N! Get in the car, I’ll take you home”
I turned to look at Oscar and crossed my arms.
“No, I’m perfectly fine with walking.”
Cesar turned to look at me with desperation in his eyes. I sighed and bid my goodbyes as I got in next to Cesar.
Oscar drove me to his house and asked me to stay for a while. But I declined and told him I was gonna pass to the bathroom and get some of my stuff, although I left out the second part. I was only gone for six weeks and the house is already a mess. Ugh, men. By the time I walked out, I saw Cesar sitting on the couch and Oscar sitting behind him on a crate, with Monse standing in front of him.
“We can go inside-“ Oscar cut him off by clearing his throat “, But uh if you wanna sit on my face, you gotta put that mouth on pause so I can concentrate”
All of the Santos laughed and he fist bumped Oscar. Poor Monse had the look of humiliation on her face.
“What the fuck? You put him up to this didn’t you!”
“Hey,” Oscar stood up and tried to get in my face “,don’t start shit.”
“Fuck you Oscar”
I was beyond pissed. How dare he try to intimidate me in front of his puto friends. I wanted to release some steam by hanging out with my friends but they were on the clock so that was a no and my mom went to visit family in Mexico, so I’m in a house all by myself . You must be wondering what happened to Tony. Let’s just say he could see I wasn’t Interested and he wasn’t mad. He told me he loved me and he’d be willing to wait for me when I realize Oscar ain’t shit.
I was watching tv in the living room when I heard movement in my room. I could feel my heart start racing. I sped tip-toed into the kitchen and grabbed a knife. I stood beside my closed bedroom door and waited for whoever was in there to come out. My heart sped as the door opened and I put the knife against the throat of the perpetrator. Only it wasn’t, it was Oscar. I let out a sigh of relief.
“What the fuck Oscar? You could’ve knocked on the door”
I walked to the kitchen with him following behind me and put the knife away.
“What are you doing here?”
“Came to talk.”
“ I don’t have anything to say to you’’
“Haven’t seen you with that guy”
“What’s it to you?” I asked as I leaned on the kitchen counter. I watched as he stepped closer to me.
“I failed you a thousand times, yet you’re still mine”
He walked closer so our chests were touching, he held my chin up gently forcing me to look up at him.
“He seemed sincere unlike my flaws, but I’m the bad guy you don’t stop loving. You’re like Cinderella and he’s the pitiful fool and even though I’m not Prince Charming, I’m still the love of your life”
My eyes started to water and I tried to look down but he wouldn’t let me.
“Oscar- please”
“I love you, Y/N”
I felt a tear run down my face and Oscar leaned his forehead against mine touching my nose with his.

My Baby 💎 Latrelle x Reader
Request: None
Pronouns: None Stated
Word Count: 1615
Warnings: angst , really small mention of blood
“What did I say about getting blood on my carpet?” You mumbled, dabbing the cut on Latrelle’s cheek with a soft tissue.
“Not to,” He replied.
You shake your head, tossing the bloody tissue into the trash can. He was bruised up bad this time. Cuts on his face, a black eye, he was even limping. The blood that dripped from his nose onto your white carpet seemed less of a problem compared to him.
“I’ll clean it for you.” He squints his eyes shut as you clean one of the bigger cuts on his shoulder.
“Don’t worry about it, you need to rest.”
You glance at the time. You had woken up an hour ago to the sound of someone knocking at your door. Of course it was Latrelle, beat up. You knew he had been messing with César again.
You wondered why it was so hard for Latrelle to leave César alone. César rarely messed with him. It was always Latrelle actively making things tense for everyone. He made it hard to be in a relationship with him, while also respecting César and his friends. You toss Latrelle a blanket and a pillow from your bed, before climbing in.
“You can sleep on the couch. Then leave in the morning.”
“Babe, you really gonna treat me that way?”
“Yes, I am because you had the nerve to wake me up at 3am to bandage you up because you were starting some stupid b.s. with César.”
He rolled his eyes and tried to get in the bed with you. “You know it’s the life I live y/n. I have to keep them on their toes or they’ll get comfy. You can’t change me baby”
This pissed you off. You pushed him off of the bed. “No because I know the life you live. I'm not trying to change you, it’s just when you're messing with him that’s when I get mad. Do you know how hard it is to watch you run and start a fight with César and have to baby you back to health, only to look Monse in the eye the next morning to say hello. It’s really freaking hard.”
He throws his hands up, “Whatever you’re bugging. You always take things too far y/n. I wasn’t even really messing with him. It was only him and his girl. He was on me for no reason so I had to say something. It wasn’t my fault he was acting all tough like he was gon do something.”
Your eyes widen and you sit up. “Monse was there?” You ask.
“If that’s her name then yeah.”
“You fought him while Monse was there!” You yell, throwing a pillow at his face.
The pillow hits Latrelle hard. He throws it out your bedroom door, turning to look at you, his mouth turning into a scowl.
You return the face, “You’re lucky he didn’t have a gun, Latrelle! You know he gets protective when he's with his friends. You know this!”
“You need to calm down. Why are you getting so emotional?”
“Why am I getting emotional? I’m getting emotional because one day you might not knock on my door. You might be bleeding out in the street, because of your dumb decisions. I would never forgive myself if you…” You felt tears start to roll down your cheek, but you don’t stop yelling even though your voice is breaking with sobs.
“Please break up with me if you are going to keep doing this. Please. I can’t keep helping you like this. I can’t keep defending you. Don’t you love me? Why can’t we go to the park or on dates like we used to? Why will you ignore my texts for days but feel fine with coming to my door bloody. You said you love me so why don’t you act like it?”
Latrelle stared up at you from his place on the ground. You were full on crying now. Fat tears slid down your face onto your sheets and you put your head in your hands. You heard Latrelle get up but you didn’t feel his warmth on your body. You didn’t smell his cologne or feel his tight hugs. He had gotten up and walked out the door.
You got up and threw on a robe, suddenly self-conscious of your outfit even though it was just a shirt and shorts. You ran out of your bedroom, into the hallway, all the way to the front door, but he was gone. He hadn’t even locked the door behind him.
Opening the door you step out. Your hot face was cooled by the wind. It fluttered around you, shaking the trees. The only light there was was the moon and the streetlights. No stars, no cars, not even a firefly and not even your boyfriend.
Shutting the door you slide down with your back against it. You reach the floor and wrap your arms around your knees and continue to cry. Your heart began to ache at the silence. He had left you. He had walked out and left you.
You fell asleep there. On the wooden floor, in front of your front door. In the morning you woke up to your alarm blaring from your room. Your cheeks were still stained with tears, your eyes bright red and it seemed hard to keep them open. All you wanted to do was sleep a little more. To move to your warm bed and fall back asleep, but if you missed a day of school it would make your parents come back sooner. You got up and went to your room to change. You chose a random black sweatshirt and jeans.
After washing your face, brushing your teeth, and eating a little bit of breakfast you start the walk to school. It was one of those mornings where you wished you had more friends, so you wouldn’t have to walk to school alone.
Your lack of friends was one of the things Latrelle liked about you. To him you were safe. Not always the center of attention, but not a nobody. You were a good enough kid that with him being your boyfriend, it made him seem like a better person. In a way you hated him for that. It made you feel more like an accessory than a significant other, but in an attempt to not start crying again, you stop thinking about it.
You walk into the school and head to your first class, then the next. They all go okay. As you walk to lunch Monse gives you a small smile. You smile back, but notice that a lot of people are looking at you. You look down at your outfit. Your jeans weren’t open, the sweatshirt wasn’t backwards. You sit down at your usual lunch table and suddenly the cafeteria doors are swung open. You didn’t care enough to look up.
Someone sits right in front of you. You start to eat your apple, it’s juices dripping down your mouth.
“y/n I’m sorry.” Latrelle mumbled.
“Are you?” You questioned. Using the back of your hand to wipe away the sticky juices.
“I got you this.”
You look up and see a single flower. “You got me one flower that I’m supposed to carry around school.”
“Dang why can’t you be happy,”
“I’m done explaining stuff to you and your dumb attempts of apologizing. You can go.”
Latrelle places the flower on the table. You start to eat your sandwich.
“Look, I’m real sorry y/n. I shouldn’t have walked out on you. I shouldn’t have treated you like that. I was just frustrated. I didn't want you to have to deal with me any more that night. I even apologized to César. Well I didn’t apologize because I aint no punk, but you know I gave him a nod. Babe, I hate when you're angry at me.”
You start to eat your sandwich, but you weren’t hungry anymore. As you get up from your seat to throw your trash away, his hand goes around your wrist. His brown eyes looked into yours, but you removed his hand and walked away.
He followed you into the hallway.
“Y/N please.”
You turn to face him, sticking a finger into his chest. “Look you can apologize all you want, but unless you’re really going to change, leave me alone. I told you, I rather you break up with me then to keep lying and doing stupid stuff.”
He pulls you into an empty classroom. He kissed your neck and rubs his hands on your back, You kiss back. It continues for a few seconds. You and Latrelle make out in an empty classroom until he pulls away and hugs you. His hugs were always almost too tight. He hugged you like he never wanted to let you go, like he never wanted anything to get to you.
“I swear I won’t do anymore stuff like that.” He whispered. He pulled a box out of his back pocket. “Here’s your actual gift.”
Inside the box was a cute gray bracelet with your birthstone in it. Your name and his are written in cursive underneath it, along with your anniversary date. “You really did this for me?”
“Yeah, you my baby. I had to search up ideas. I know you like cute things like this.”
You felt your cheeks start to warm up. The bracelet was exactly your size and you couldn't stop looking at it. “Thank you baby.”
“Anything for you.” He put one of his arms on your shoulders. “You wanna get out of here. You look tired.”
Ignoring your other classes you say yes and walk with him out the back of the school.

Tumblr media
You were awoken by the sound of notifications going off loudly. You stirred around on your bed, trying to ignore the cacophony of dings your phone kept emitting. Groggily, you made a mental note to silence your phone from now on. When you could finally look at the screen without it blinding you, you scrolled through the seemingly endless string of texts Ruby had sent to the group chat, “The Gnomies”. Yes, Jamal came up with it. Yes, everyone tried to change it, but he just kept changing it back so they gave up. You groaned as you read the messages. ‘Be here at one on the dot,’ the last message read, ‘mandatory meeting’. That was less than half an hour from now. Lazily getting out of bed, you started getting ready. After brushing your teeth and making your hair look somewhat presentable, you threw together an outfit that resembled a picture you had seen on Pinterest after looking up ‘grunge aesthetic’. You liked trying out different styles constantly, feeling like every single one of them suited you, but none of them could get you to commit to them for more than a month. Satisfied with the way you looked, you left your room, grabbed your keys and skateboard, and started to skate your way to Ruby’s house. Midway, though, you decided to take a detour and get some food—junk food, to be precise—knowing that you would not be able to handle a hyperactive Ruben on an empty stomach.
You left the joint with two bags full of food, hoping bribery would get you out of being lectured by Ruby about punctuality. You balanced the bags on both hands like a scale as you focused on not falling from your board on the way there. Making the last turn to Ruby’s house, you miscalculated the speed you were going at and had to hop off the board, letting it crash against the curb. Though you fell on your ass, you made sure to hold the food up keeping it safe and sound. Holding both bags in one hand, you retrieved your skateboard and walked up to the door, but it flung open before you could even think about knocking. Ruby stood on the other side with a scowl. You smiled sheepishly, extending one of the bags to him.
“You’re very late! Did you get me fries with that? Also where are the others?!" Ruby said all in one breath.
"First of all, I know I'm late, but I'm sorry to inform you that you are not more important than food.” Ruby scowled and was about to protest, but you kept speaking before he could utter a word. “Secondly, yes, I did get you fries, you impatient goblin. I mean, what do you take me for? A monster?” You pretended to be offended, but Ruby simply looked annoyed by the dramatic display. “Just know that when I win my first Oscar I will not be thanking you, Ruben.”
“Yeah, yeah if you say so—also don’t call me that. Can you get to the most important question now?”
“Damn, someone hasn’t had their daily handy.” You laughed in astonishment, amused by how much irritation Ruby had in him.
“Seriously, Y/N, this is serious!” His voice raised an octave, causing it to crack, and you had to bite back a laugh.
“A la jaula, bestia, a la jaula,” you began, laughter causing your words to come out like wheezes. Ruby spared you one death stare, and you somehow found your composure. “Look, I have no idea where everyone else is. I, honestly, thought everyone was already here and that you were waiting on me.”
“So, you thought they were here and didn’t think to bring them food?” Ruby questioned.
“Do I look like I have enough money to feed todos esos trogloditas? I brought you food with hopes of getting out of the ‘Punctuality Lecture’, but seeing as they aren’t here, guess that spares me.” You dropped the skate on the entryway, pushing past Ruby to sit on the couch.
“And here I was beginning to think you favored me from the rest.” Ruby sighed with disappointment before raising his voice dramatically. “When in reality, it was just BRIBERY!” he exclaimed, his voice cracking once more as he fake sobbed while clutching the food. You clapped as you opened your food, ready to dig in.
“Damn, man, I better watch out, otherwise you’re probably going to win that Oscar before me,” you said as you began stuffing your face.
“Are you calling me dramatic?” He placed his free hand over his heart.
“Oh, without a shadow of a doubt, now sit down and eat.” With your fork, you pointed at him then towards the couch. Instead of sitting, he started pacing around the coffee table, and you watched him as you munched on your sandwich and fries. He stopped for a second to place his bag of food down, yet he didn’t sit down to eat it. He kept going around the small table at a pace too quick for your eyes to keep up without feeling dizzy. “Wow, man, slow down. Me mareas con tus vueltitas.” He only huffed. “Ruben, seriously, I did not buy that for you to let it go to waste. At least breathe and stress eat.” He whipped around at the mention of his full name.
“I thought I told you not to call me that,” he reminded you exasperatedly. “Anyway, I can’t eat right now. I have many thoughts whirring in my brain, and it’s making me sick. Do you know why I called you guys here? Well, if you’re here, you must have read the messages—” Ruby was rambling on and didn’t even stop in between sentences to take a breath so you cut him off.
“RUBEN!” He ceased all movement so abruptly that a skid mark could’ve possibly been seen in the spot where he stopped. “Could you get to the point,, please? You’re making my head hurt.” You completely ignored his previous statement and pressed the tips of your fingers to your temples. Rolling his eyes at you he sat on the other end of the couch and took his food out. After a few angry munches, he turned to face you, the grease of the food that was plastered on his mouth drawing your attention to his lips.
“Alright, since the others aren’t here yet, I’ll just start telling you my new ideas for income.” He stopped eating and started chattering and chattering and chattering…
You don’t know when it happened, but at some point, he stood up and began pacing around the living room again. You stopped listening about half an hour into his ramble, zoning out and staring blankly at him. Your mind got the best of you, and you started to remember why you liked Ruby. What brought this on? You didn’t know. Maybe it was how much passion he put into his pointless arguments, or maybe even that you found it totally adorable that he was practically unable to lie because he would start sweating like a pig on a stick. Maybe it was the way he smiled at you, the tendency he had to correct everything you said matter-of-factly, or maybe it was his dangerously absurd perfectionism. It could be one of his many qualities, good or bad, you didn’t care. Your eyes trailed to his lips once more. They were so full and pink it was hard not to stare—slightly chapped too, but that wasn’t a problem to you. You imagined running your thumb over them, pulling them close to yours and then just crashing them together. Your breath hitched in your throat at the thought of you and Ruby making out. It wasn’t an uncommon thought of yours, seeing as you’ve been dreaming about it happening almost every night since you discovered what hormones could do.
There was always Cesar, you thought. He was the “face” of the group after all, but that got to his brain sometimes. Nothing more dangerous than a cholo who’s aware of his good looks. You grimaced slightly. Cesar’s ego was one of the many reasons why you never developed an emotional nor carnal liking to the boy. You’d rather leave him to Monse, plus you wouldn’t dream of getting caught in the middle of their toxic and manipulative games. But that’s beside the point. You were abruptly brought back to reality by Ruby waving his hands in front of your face, occasionally snapping his fingers. Shaking your head to shake out the thoughts, you noticed Ruby was now standing on top of the coffee table, being careful not to step on either of your foods.
“PAY ATTENTION TO ME, (Y/N)!” Ruby whined. You held back a chuckle at how funny he looked. His small body barely added to the coffee table’s weight. Deciding to play it cool, you shrugged nonchalantly.
“What’s your fuzz? I am listening to you. Have been for the past hour and a half.”
Ruby squinted his eyes at you. “No, you weren’t. I know that face. You were very deep in your thoughts. What’s going on in that pretty, little head of yours?” You freaked internally.
He’s onto us, you told yourself. “Yes, I am onto you, (Y/N), that’s why I asked. Keep up.” He looked at you like you were stupid. Wait how did he—Can he read my mind?  Blink twice if you can read my mind. Ruby blinked twice, and you felt like a rock dropped in your stomach.
“Oh shit,” you whispered under your breath.
“Before you throw up on my couch, I’ll have you know I can’t read your mind. You were just speaking out loud.” You threw yourself backwards unto the couch, grabbing a pillow to cover your face. After making a mental note to slam your head against the nearest wall later, you decided you were not going to make a further fool of yourself.
“I wasn’t not paying attention; I was just—”
“I am the king of bad excuses, babe, so spare me your lies.” You blushed at the nickname and prayed he wouldn’t notice. “Now since there is obviously something more important on your mind, speak,” he demanded.
You weighed your options. You could either try to lie and hope he’d let you off the hook, which was not likely, or you could tell him the truth and risk your friendship being awkward from now on if he didn’t feel the same way—and with your luck he most likely didn’t. A few more silent seconds passed before Ruby spoke once more, “Don’t make me take drastic measures on you, (Y/N). I will have no mercy.” He eyed you with determination. You scoffed in disbelief.
“What could you possibly do to torture me, Ruben?” You mocked him, stretching out his name. Ruby smirked.
“Oh, you’ve done it now.” He jumped from the coffee table, landing on top of you and successfully pinning you to the sofa. You giggled and tried to get away from his grip, but it was surprisingly strong. Ruby chuckled at your failed attempts to break free. “Now, you’re going to tell me what I want to know, or else,” he brought his lips close to your ears, “you’ll pay for it with your melodious laughter.” Your eyes widened in realization as his words sank in.
“No, not the tickles,” you begged him playfully. He nodded while mischievously smirking.
“One last chance, are you gonna talk?” You shook your head.
“In your dreams,” you defied.
“I was hoping you’d say that.” In seconds, his hands went to your sides and laughter erupted from your throat in loud cackles.
“Stop, Ruby—Stop!” you tried to articulate between laughs. He shook his head no.
“Not until I get what I want.” He said between laughs as well, since in retaliation, you had managed to start tickling him as well. The sound of his own laughter mixed with yours was like music to your ears.
“N—Never!” You still mutinied. His fingers only increased their pace and not in ways you’d like. Your stomach was starting to hurt and you were running out of breath, leaving you with just one option. Well, it was now or never.
“I WAS THINKING ABOUT KISSING YOU,” you blurted; his movements ceased, “I have been since we were in middle school.” You closed your eyes, concentrating on catching your breath. Ruby released you and got off of you, running his hands through his hair in deep thought. You sat up and covered your face with your hands. “This is going to be so awkward now,” you muttered through your hands but it came out like an incoherent jumble of sounds. You moved your hands to sneak a peek at Ruby. Your muffled words didn’t even faze him.
“Ruby?” You looked over at him. His eyes met yours, and he struggled to bite back a laugh. Great, you thought, he thinks I’m a joke now.
“About time.” He grumbled and sighed.
“What?” You were very confused. What could he possibly mean by that?
“I said ‘about damn time,’ (Y/N).” His suppressed laughs turned to a shy grin. Still confused as ever, you tried your best to gather your thoughts and form a coherent sentence.
“Wait, YOU KNEW?” You felt sick to your stomach now. All this time, you thought you had been successful at keeping your feelings hidden and sealed away, but now it turns out even he knew.
“Well, yeah, I’ve known for a couple of months now.” He shrugged it off as if it were obvious.
“Months?!” This was unbelievable. You abruptly stood up and faced him, hands on your hips. “So, you’ve known for months and you didn’t think for one second to tell me? At least, have the decency to confront me, damn it.” You found yourself feeling dumbfounded, feeling toyed with. Ruby reached out to you, holding on to your forearm and pulling you back to sit on the couch. You let him.
“Cesar and Jamal implied it once during one of our guy’s nights, and ever since then, I kind of started paying more attention. Ergo, leading me to the conclusion that you liked me,” he explained. “If it makes you feel any better, the clues to your feelings were very subtle so, I would have probably never noticed if it hadn’t been brought up.” Ruby was trying his best to cheer you up, but you still felt extremely embarrassed by the fact that your secret crush wasn’t so secret.
“Why would they even bring that up, in the first place?” you questioned, annoyed.
“Well, I may or may not have made a comment about how I thought I was starting to develop feelings for you and the guys just jumped on that and told me that you liked me too,” Ruby admitted shyly, rubbing his neck awkwardly.
“So, if you like me back, then why didn’t you say anything or make a move when you figured out I actually felt the same way?” You felt bad for interrogating him like that, but you were in dire need of answers.
“I just didn’t know how to bring it up, and even if I did, I wouldn’t have known how to say I liked you back without, probably, choking on my own saliva.” He chuckled lowly, afraid that if he laughed too loud, he’d set you off again. “You know I’ve never been good with the ladies, (Y/N).” You grimaced at the memory of all of Ruby’s failed love attempts.
“Well, you already knew I liked you—it was a matter of saying three words, eight letters,, and I would’ve been yours months ago.” You pushed his shoulder playfully, the anxiety and embarrassment you had felt washing of and making room for the still-settling realization of having confessed your feelings. Ruby leaned back into you, your legs brushing, causing you to take notice of your proximity. Your hands fell upon each other’s, and you looked up to meet his eyes. You started leaning in, maintaining eye contact as you got closer.
“Ruby,” you started, but he shook his head.
“Don’t think, act,” he said as he grabbed the back of your neck, crashing your lips together. All your late night fantasies crashed at once, the real thing surpassing each and every one of them. Kissing Ruby felt like a kaleidoscope of butterflies got loose in your stomach—it felt like your heart alone was running a marathon. Kissing Ruby was soft and messy, your lack of experience shining through-. Ruby kept pressing himself to you, making sure there was absolutely no space between you. You had to resort to lying down, pulling Ruby on top of you, not once breaking the kiss. Due to the new position, one of his hands made its way to rest on your waist and the other cupped your cheek. Your hands around his neck were pulling him impossibly closer, and in that moment, your body felt like it was exploding with fireworks, warm all over. You didn’t break away until you needed to  breathe, a goofy smile plastering itself on your face. Ruby held the same expression as you as he looked down at you. As you started leaning in for another kiss, the door burst open. You pushed Ruby off of you, causing Ruby to fall on the ground with a thud.
“Uh, what’s going on here?” Jamal asked.
“Told you guys it would work.” Cesar had the biggest, cockiest smirk on his face. You and Ruby shared a confused look and stared back at the very late rest of the crew.
“Yep, just like you said. A couple of hours alone, and they were all over each other.” Monse said, trying her best to refrain from laughing.
“I think our little man, Ruby, just popped his cherry.” Cesar wiggled his eyebrows. Monse’s eyes widened and she broke down laughing.
Irritated enough, you finally spoke up, “Slow your roll, Little Spooky, we’re not like you and Monse.” You shot at him defensively, and Monse choked on her laughter. “No offense,” you added, not wanting to stir up any drama.
“None taken,” Cesar assured. Ruby got off the ground and reclaimed his seat beside you.
Leaning over, he whispered, “Why can’t we be like them?”
“Keep it in your damn pants, Ruben.” You nudged his side and he raised his hands in surrender.
In retaliation, though, Cesar sat between you and Ruby. You shared a look of annoyance before Cesar asked, “Are you going to finish that?” referring to the forgotten leftover cluttering the small table.
“Go crazy.”
“Suit yourself,” you and Ruby at the same time.
As Cesar dug in Jamal spoke up, “Can we just skip to the part where Ruby yells at us for being late and starts talking non-stop?”
“No, man, not today.” Everyone looked bewildered. “Cesar why don’t you take that home? Yes, okay, bye,” Ruby dismissed him.
“Wait, woah, the hell man?” Cesar questioned as Ruby used all his might to get him off the couch.
“You can all come back tomorrow, on time, and we’ll talk about my idea.” He said shooing them all away.
“Are you freaking serious?” Monse got angry quickly.
“Hey, not my fault you decided to play cupid and be late on purpose.” Cesar, Jamal, and Monse shared looks of pride at Ruby’s statement. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some wasted time to make up for with my new girlfriend so, bye!”
“Whatever you say, man,” Cesar said as he opened the door with one hand, the leftovers in the other. When Jamal and Monse were outside he said, “Just remember sin gorrito no hay fiesta.” He immediately shut the door after himself, but that didn’t stop Ruby and you from yelling after him.
“Fuck off, Cesar!” You both yelled with smiles on your faces as you looked at each other. With everyone else gone, Ruby cupped your cheek once more and tenderly kissed you until you had to head back home. That night you slept peacefully, no longer having to dream and wonder about how kissing Ruby would feel like.

————————————Teaser———————————
The parents were hesitant as they dropped off their children at your house, but you assured them, you will be there to monitor the whole time while Oscar will be there to protect them, they weren’t fans of him, to say the least, so leaving eleven years olds with him wasn’t an option, not really.
Cesar was dressed up as a skeleton, it was the only thing you could find at such short notice, Monse was dressed as a cat, Ruby was a robot and Jamal was a Viking, you were a mummy and Oscar was... well, he was himself.
“I’m so excited, this year we’ll finally go out and trick or treat!” Cesar exclaimed “that if the Prophet$ don’t murder someone, Santos don’t steal something and 19 Street stay in their lane” Ruby corrected “I don’t wanna get shot! I’m a black kid, death rates in conflict are twice as high for black kids!” Jamal said nervously “Jamal! Enough being drama!” Monse rolled her eyes “nothing bad will happen to us, that’s why we have Y/N and Oscar to protect us” Cesar beamed looking at the two of you.
You smiled and ruffled the boy’s hair “come on now, let’s get it over with it” you heard your man speak then opened the door, as he did, he heard a gunshot from distance, the children were standing at the door, you as well, watching countless people run in different directions and scream, Oscar looked at you, his phone rang, he picked it up, it was sad eyes telling him about the conflict in the Prophet$ area, later you heard police cars roaming in the streets and implementing a curfew, you immediately pushed the children and the Santo inside.
The frowns on their faces were unignorable, yet, you couldn’t do anything about it, your phone started ringing, their parents calling to check on them, you assured them that they are okay and that instead, the trick or treat had turned into a sleepover, Oscar wasn’t very keen about it but it would make Cesar feel less crappy about not going on a candy hunt, he truly thought this year would be different.
“Did you see how everyone was running? This could’ve been us! We are in a Santo’s house! What if the Prophet$ decided to raid the house? What if they come for more blood?” Ruby rumbled nervously, breathing heavily “nothing will happen” Monse rolled her eyes “that’s right! Oscar and Y/N will protect us!” Cesar stated, looking at you both “don’t mean to disrespect you, Spooky sir or your wonderful partner, but the only way they can protect us is by giving up military helmets, pads and bulletproof vests!” Jamal argued, the four ended up quibbling, Oscar was getting irritated, they were giving the already stressed Santo a headache “Enough” he shouted.

Give An Inch || Oscar "Spooky" Diaz
Tumblr media
(GIF Credit: @merakiaes)
A/N: Not proofread, apologises. Feel free to point out any mistakes with the Spanish translations. Thanks!
Pairing(s): Spooky x Reader ▪︎ The Core 5 x Reader (platonic relationship)
Summary: A helping hand is mistaken for something else.
Warnings: fluff, language, mention of smut (very light), mentions of a baby, sexist comments,
Word Count: 1815
- ♤ - ♡ - ◇ - ♧ -
"Come on, (Y/N)." Jamal begged, trying to snatch the bag filled with candy, "just one more and I promise I'll stop asking."
"No, Jamal," she reprimanded the teenager, "you've eaten enough candy as it is."
He huffed, the rest of the group laughing at his misfortune. Oscar shook his head, wrapping his arm around her shoulders, clicking his tongue, "eh, just give him one."
She looked at him, "and have him throw up on himself? I don't think so." She glanced over at the group and back at him, "besides, he keeps grabbing the (flavour) ones and there's hardly any left."
With a laugh, he kissed her forehead, "so it's not about his well being? It's 'cause he keeps taking the ones you like?"
"Shut up," was her response.
That made him laugh harder, causing the group of teenagers to look back at the couple. Cesar smiled at how carefree his brother looked whereas his friends were still surprised, despite knowing of the couple's marital status.
They and their families, the Santos and (Y/N)'s family were present at the courthouse, a simple but elegant affair. Despite her mother's protest about a big wedding, (Y/N) was more focused on spending the rest of her life with Oscar and Cesar (they were a packaged deal). She didn't care where they got married.
It had been months since that court appearance and (Y/N) and Oscar had fallen in love with each other more everyday. Yes, they had their disagreements, but before the sun set apologises were said and a round of cuddles were given. He may have been a tough Santos leader, but Oscar was big on affection.
A relaxed date night for the pair turned into an eventful group outing. (Y/N) didn't mind, having grown accustomed to having the teenagers around (even Jasmine with her big personality, something she really admired). Oscar was annoyed, but adjusted to having her attention shared.
The teenagers began to disagree on whether to try their luck with the games or grab a bite to eat. The girls wanted to play some games and the boys wanted to get some more food. (Y/N) decided to make the decision for them, looking at Oscar, "you go with the boys and I'll go with the girls," she laughed, taking note of his unimpressed look, "they're not that bad."
Right on cue, Jamal and Ruby began arguing about the most problematic person in the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days cast. Cesar stood by, saying nothing and somehow got dragged into the debate. (Y/N) shook her head and pecked Oscar's cheek, "good luck."
And with that, she walked off with the girls in tow.
The three walked around for quite a bit before deciding on playing Whac-a-Mole; no lines, reasonably priced and the prizes were really good. (Y/N) handed the attendant the money and watched the game light up.
"How do you plan on winning?" Monse asked, knowing that a bunch of the games were rigged.
"By imagining something that pisses me off," she replied. Both girls quirked an eyebrow and watched as she hit almost every single mole that popped out of its hole. When the game ended, she glanced over at them, "see?"
They laughed at her chosen stuffed animal being a wolf, knowing her obsession with dogs, when the attendant asked about her prize. Taking a step back, she allowed the girls to decide if they wanted to play a game.
Unbeknownst to her, a figure had been watching from afar and decided right at that moment to start up a conversation.
(Y/N) felt a presence move closer, she smiled thinking they were passing by, but instead stopped right in front of her. Her eyebrows furrowed, as she took in the person; solid build, tall and tanned skin.
"The name's Damian," he introduced himself.
She nodded, "hello, Damian, I'm (Y/N). Did you need something?"
Before he could reply a mallet hit the side of his head. She covered her mouth to stifle her laughter, eyes looking at the direction of where it flew to find Monse nodding towards Jasmine, the girl giving a sheepish grin. (Y/N) turned back around to find Damian rubbing his head.
"Well… uh, that was… something," he muttered, picking up the object and holding it out.
"Sorry," Jasmine apologised, taking it and giving it back to the attendant.
(Y/N) noticed his cheek darkening, "you might need some ice for that," she held up her finger, "follow my finger, please." A couple seconds later, she concluded, "you don't seem to have a concussion, but you should check out the medical tent."
He smiled, "you in the medical field?"
"A nurse at the local hospital."
"Beauty and brains," he complimented
She shook her head, "come on I'll take you," she glanced over her shoulder, "tell the guys where I'm going, okay? I shouldn't be long."
Monse and Jasmine nodded at her instructions, sharing a look when she walked around the corner, hopefully Spooky wasn't nearby.
But of course, luck wasn't on their side.
"You girls win anything?"
They turned around and found Cesar walking ahead of the group, a grin plastered across his face holding up a teddy bear and handing it over to Monse. Jamal and Ruby holding a slushie and a churro in their hands. Spooky took notice of the missing figure, his eyes staring at the pair, "where's (Y/N)?"
Jasmine piped up, "at the medical tent," when she noticed their concerned faces she quickly added, "don't worry, she's not hurt. She took a guy there 'cause I hit him in the head with a mallet."
"You hit him with a mallet?" questioned Ruby, taking a sip of his slushie.
"Sí, pero no propósito," she gestured to the truck, "I was using it for the game, they really need to tape that shit down."
Jamal's eyebrows scrunched together, "aren't those things attached?"
"Yeah, they are," Monse replied, "well.. one used to be."
As the group got on the subject of other carnival games, they didn't notice Spooky slipping away to find (Y/N). Always being down to help whoever with whatever, it didn't come as a surprise to him hearing she had walked the guy over to the medical tent. It was a trait he loved about her, but of course it had setbacks.
With a heart as big as hers, there were some people who liked to take advantage of her goodwill.
If the guy fell into that category, then he was in for a rude awakening.
He walked around the corner, avoiding a bunch of kids running with their parents trying to keep up with them. Passing by several tents he found the one he was looking for. It wasn't that hard as an ambulance, cots and paramedics stuck out among the food trucks and carnival games.
His eyes focused on her, her hands clutching a stuffed animal, a smile crossed his face taking note of it being a wolf. She let out a laugh and continued talking to the person next to her. He moved towards them, his pace picking up when he noticed her twiddling her thumbs, a subtle sign that showed she was beginning to feel uncomfortable.
"Cariño." He called out.
Her head turned in his direction, a big smile on her face as she rose to her feet. When he was close enough, she wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her head on his chest. When she released her hold, she pecked his lips.
Quickly bending down to pick up the wolf plushie.
After shaking it, she held it up to his face, "say hello to the new love of my life."
He kissed his teeth, "new love? The only new love of your life is gonna be the baby I put in you, esta noche."
She gasped and hit his chest, laughing when he pulled her in and kissed the top of her head.
"Uh… you're taken?"
The couple turned to the figure holding the ice pack to his cheek. (Y/N) nodded, "yep, happily taken." Holding up her left hand to reveal just how taken she was.
Damian shook his head, "you're married and walking around as if you're single? Wow, aren't you a great catch."
Her eyebrows furrowed, at the switch in his tone, "excuse you?"
"You led me on."
"Led you on?" She scoffed, "how?"
He gestured to the tent, "you brought me here."
"Yeah, I brought you here to make sure you were okay," she replied, "and before you say anything about me staying with you, I thought I'd keep you company before your friends arrived."
"You have to train her better," Damian shifted his focus to Oscar, "can't have your wife leading men on like some bitch in heat."
Before (Y/N) could blink, Oscar gripped the front of Damian's shirt and pulled him close their nose centimetres apart, "don't fucking talk to her like that, understand me?" Damian just blinked, causing Oscar to give him a shake, "I asked you a question."
He nodded, "yeah, I won't. Ever again."
Oscar loosened his grip, nodding towards the bruising on the side of his head, "next time it'll be a bullet," at the scared look he received, he smirked, "now, apologise to my wife, pendejo."
"I'm sorry."
"She has a name."
"I'm sorry, (Y/N)."
"What are you sorry for?"
"I'm sorry, (Y/N) for calling you a bitch and assuming that you were interested." Damian apologised.
She nodded, "thank you."
"When a woman is interested, she'll make it clear that she's interested." Oscar explained, "if she isn't interested, back off."
"Right, got it."
"But with your obscured view on women, I doubt they'd be interested," (Y/N) snickered, "all that muscle on you and you're nothing but a punk ass bitch."
Oscar held her hand in his, giving the back of it a kiss, "come on," when they were about a metre away, (Y/N) called out, "enjoy the rest of your night, Damian. You sexist pig."
This received a few stares from those surrounding the other tents but the couple kept walking as if nothing had happened. (Y/N) allowed Oscar to lead them back to wherever the group of teenagers were. When she spotted them, she stopped her movement, causing Oscar to halt in his.
"What's wrong?"
She smirked and moved in close, fingers fiddling with the button of his shirt, "do you wanna get started?'
His eyebrow arched, "get started on what?"
"On putting that baby in me…. Unless, you've changed your mind and -"
She laughed when he gripped her hand and dragged her in the direction of the car, throwing a comment about texting Cesar that she wasn't feeling well and to stay the night at Monse's when she asked about the group noticing their disappearance.

Ray Comes Home - Oscar (Spooky) Diaz x Reader
Pairing: Oscar (Spooky) Diaz x wife!reader (Season 3 related content, so there are spoilers under the cut)
A/N: This is a request by @itskiranbitch Thanks for the request! Happy reading! 🥰
Summary: Ray comes home, breaks Oscar’s heart again, and angers wife!reader. I used this GIF of shaved-head Spooky because there’s a little flashback. 😉
Tumblr media
Noticing an unfamiliar car parked in the driveway of their home, y/n picked up her phone to call Oscar. She’s just gotten off of work after a long day at the law firm.
Oddly enough, it went to voicemail. Something is definitely off, y/n thought to herself. Opening her car door, she figured she’d find out soon enough. She adjusted her dress before walking up to the door, feeling beyond ready to take off the uncomfortable pumps she wore all day.
Before she made it to the front door, a man stepped out. Y/n recognized Ray immediately. To say she was furious would be understatement. She walked right up to him and let him have it.
“You have some nerve showing up here after all these little stunts you’ve pulled.” Her words were dripping with pure venom, but Ray stayed silent.
“For years, Oscar has been forced to deal with the trauma that you inflicted on him. Now you’re here, and for what? Why are you here, Ray?”
Before the man could answer, y/n noticed Oscar lingering in the doorway. He had a disgusted look on his face, but his eyes told a different story. In the sunlight, it would be impossible not to notice the tears shining in his eyes.
“You know what forget it, just leave like you always do,” y/n shoved past Ray and walked into her house to comfort her husband.
With a huff, y/n kicked off her shoes and pulled Oscar in for a hug. She felt his tears on her neck. Gently running her fingers up and down his back, y/n was even more disgusted with her father-in-law. It made her angry all over again, but right now she had other priorities.
“Come here, baby. It’s alright. Here, sit down on the couch, my love. I’m going to get you some water,” y/n softly spoke to her husband and led him over to sit. Oscar didn’t even put up a fight and plopped down onto the couch.
In the kitchen, y/n reminded herself to steady her breathing. It wouldn’t do any good to get worked up over Ray right now, but he made it so hard to be calm. Pulling her box braids out of the top knot, she tried to lessen any extra tension she was feeling. Still, her mind drifted back to all the hurt that Ray had caused her husband.
Flashback
It was late, but that was normal for Spooky and y/n. After years of dating, they’d gotten pretty comfortable with each other. It was senior year, and y/n excitedly talked Spooky’s ear off about her plans for the future. They were cuddling on his bed spread, and he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. His heart ached to think about her leaving him, but he’d never voice it. He was truly happy for her.
Both of them were in a great mood. That night, they’d gone to get tacos in celebration of Cesar’s report card. As an eighth grader, Cesar pretended his graders weren’t a big deal, but he secretly loved the way the couple was so proud of him. It sounded cheesy, but y/n and Spooky enjoying doting on the younger boy.
Untangling her body from their cuddling position, y/n wandered around Spooky’s room. He watched her curiously but didn’t say anything. He’d tell her whatever she wants to know, anyway.
Y/n stopped suddenly and looked at a letter. It was in Spooky’s handwriting, and she knew exactly who he was writing. She picked up the letter and spun around to face Spooky on the bed.
He visibly stiffened. Y/n approached the bed and cuddled back into his side.
“I might be biased, but I know you’re twice the man your father could ever be,” y/n spoke from the heart.
“You’re right. You are biased,” Spooky tried to joke through the pain, but y/n saw through it anyway.
Spooky picked up the letter and threw it in a nearby trash can.
Flashback over
Y/n walked back into the living room only to be met with Oscar’s slumped figure on the couch. Whatever had taken place between Oscar and his father must’ve really taken a toll on him.
She walked over and sat down sideways on his lap. Gently placing the cup near his mouth, she coaxed him into taking a drink of water. Oscar wanted to laugh at how much she was babying him, but his heart hurt too much.
He took a swig of the water and waited for y/n to place the glass on the coffee table. To ground himself, Oscar stroked the exposed skin on y/n’s thigh before he spoke up.
“I thought that since I’m older, he might not have this much pull over me. But as soon as he comes back, I feel like a kid all over again,” Oscar hung his head in shame.
“He had the nerve to bring up Cesar. Cesar, who I spent my entire life raising when he wasn’t here to step up to the plate. I told him to leave and find Cesar, since he wants to stick his head into everything,” Oscar lifted his head and spoke to his wife. She could see the turmoil behind his eyes when he spoke about his younger brother.
Y/n cradled his head to her chest and continued to stroke his back. Her heart broke for her husband. Yet, she was so proud of how far he’d come. All those years ago, he struggled to talk about his feelings like this.
“Sweetie, don’t beat yourself up for the way he makes you feel. As much as it hurts, it shows that you’re a good person who still cares,” she spoke softly to not disturb him.
“He has no business bringing up Cesar, sweetheart. You and I know that you’ve done everything for him, and we’ll keep trying” Y/n leaned down to pepper kisses all over his face. She noticed a hint of a smile on his lips.
They’d be okay.

Note
Hi could you write something for Spooky with #2 and 17 from your prompt list please? ❤️
2. “You’re the only one that matters to me”
17. “You don’t even see me…”
I got you, honeyyyy
You were at a Santos party with Ruby and Mario because they had invited you so you thought why not, but the only thing is that you had a huge crush on Spooky. The three of you were relaxing on the couch that was in the backyard when Spooky had walked up to the three of you.
“How is the party?” Spooky asked, holding up four shots.
You grabbed two and handed one to Ruby, standing up to cheers with your best friend and crush, “arriba,” you held up the shot, “abajo,” put the shot down, “aldentro,” after you clinked the shot glasses, you threw the shot back into your mouth.
Ruby was staring at the drinks and the food table. You knew that he liked to fix everything like parties and have it grand so you left the boys to talk and sat next to Ruby.
You motioned towards the table, “go fix it. I know you want to,”
Ruby gave you a small, but real, smile and stood up to fix it. You smiled at the glimpse of the old Ruby, turning to see Mario with Angelica and Oscar with a bunch of hynas around him. Sure, you were hurt, but you knew you couldn’t be mad since you guys aren’t together. It suddenly sucked to be sober so you walked up to the table and grabbed the bottle of tequila from Ruby’s hand.
“lo siento, Ruby, but I need this,” you sadly smiled at the younger boy.
“I don’t know why you like Spooky when you can have any man in this party,” Ruby shrugged.
“I have no idea either,” you chuckled, “but I’m gonna let go and go flirt with some guys. Have fun party-planning, Ruby,”
You walked away and saw a guy eyeing you up so you thought why not. A quick drink of liquid courage had you walk up to the guy and strike up conversation. Unaware of the watchful eyes of the one you really want, you find yourself being pulled towards the house. Since you were in an intoxicated state, you let it happen until Spooky came out of nowhere, pushing the guy away from you.
“Aye, cabron. Get out before I make you,” Spooky glared at the man.
“Whatchu mean, Spooky? I’m just trying to have fun with this hyna,” the guy winked at you.
“Nah, fool. Now get out before I make you,” Oscar’s voice dropped into a deadly one.
“Alright, chill!” the man said and ran out.
Oscar spun around and grabbed your hand and pulled you into the house and into his room. He pushed you in, slamming the door.
“The fuck was that?!” Spooky pointed to the backyard.
“That was me having fun! Why do you even care?” you yelled, still intoxicated, “go back to your hoes and leave me the fuck alone,”
“Nah, mamita,” Oscar glared with a hint of amusement in his eyes, “you’re the only one that matters to me,”
“Don’t. Play. With. Me,” you seethed, unshed tears in your eyes, “please do not play with me,”
“(Y/N), I’m being serious,” Oscar glared at you.
“Stop! Stop lying!” you shouted, “you don’t even see me...”
Oscar stopped, “don’t see you? Oh, I don’t see you? So I don’t see that you helped Ruby out there? I don’t see you doing your best? Don’t you ever say that I don’t see you because I do. I like you, mamita,”
“W-what are you talking about? What do you mean you like me?” you stuttered.
Oscar walked closer to you, putting you against the wall with one of his hands against the wall to trap you in and the other on your waist, “I mean I like you and want you to be mine. Be mi reina,”
You laughed, “of course,”
The two of you smiled at each other and closed the distance between your lips, moving in sync to the beat of your own rhythm. It was the start of something real.

Hiding
Prompt: (REQUESTED) Can Ruby’s older sister, Reader, date Oscar in secret and then Jamal walks in on them making out. And he ends up telling everyone afterwards. (Takes place in season 1 episode 5, y’know during the lock down and shit)
Pairing: Oscar “Spooky” Diaz x Reader
Third Person POV
Jamal’s loud voice could be heard from outside (y/n)’s door. She rolled her eyes closing the book she had been reading before walking out of the room. “I was pretty explicit in my directive, I said Jamal come over after school not Jamal and Cesar.” Ruby argued and (y/n) rolled her eyes hitting Ruby in the head. “Ow!” Ruby rubbed his head.
“What the hell are you two on about now?” (Y/N) crossed her arms.
“Nothing, mind your own business.” Ruby snarled and (y/n) rolled her eyes making her way to Olivia’s room.
“Hey do you need anything fro-” (Y/N) was cut off by Jasmine’s body slamming into her.
“Damn (Y/N), don’t know how to give a girl her space.” Jasmine spoke and looked at Olivia. “Yo, what size are you?” Jasmine smiled holding up a pair of underwear in her hands.
“Oh, honey, no.” Olivia shook her head causing (y/n) to laugh.
“Well excuse me for touching the cherished chonies” Jasmine huffed.
“I think it’s pretty normal for people to not want you to touch their underwear.”  Monse spoke.
“Hey Jasmine, why don’t you go out there and check up on Ruby, he’s needing to release some anger.” (Y/N) spoke before opening the door. Jasmine smiled and walked out the door, (y/n) closing the door behind her.  “Wow, she’s something else, my phone wasn’t working otherwise I wouldn’t have interrupted.”
“Oh no, you saved us.” Monse spoke causing (y/n) and Olivia laugh.
“What’s up?” Olivia asked, smiling up at (y/n).
“My mom, she went on a Costco run about, ten minutes ago. She wanted to know if you needed anything, just to text her although I wouldn’t wait for a text back, she’s still not good with that.” (Y/N) smiled before hearing the front door slam. “What the hell?” (Y/N) opened the door to Olivia’s room and noticed Jasmine in Ruby’s arms before he pushed her off.
“Who was it?" (Y/N) spoke causing Jamal to look at her for a second before opening the door.
“Someone shot one of the homies. Have you seen Cesar? He ain't answering the phone.” Oscar looked at Jamal before looking at (y/n). Sure, part of the sentence was a true, but he wasn’t looking for Cesar. His eyes softened for a moment. He had hoped she was alone but to his surprise she wasn’t.
“His phone isn’t working.” Jamal gulped, (y/n) crossing her arms over her chest.
“If you see him, tell him I'm looking for him.” Oscar rushed out; he wasn’t about to let anyone know the real reason he was there.
“Yes sir.” Jamal spoke before closing the door and looking back at Ruby and Jasmine. “I’m still going.” Jamal spoke over the sirens outside. “I just wanted to give Oscar some lead time.”  Jamal turned his back on Ruby and the door open abruptly.
“One-time.” Oscar yelled slamming the door shut causing Jasmine to yell.
“This is L.A.P.D. This block is on lockdown. For your safety, remain inside until further advised.” The cop spoke through the intercom causing Jamal to sigh. (Y/N) walked closer to her brother and heard Jamal mumble something over the loud helicopter.
“What?” Ruby yelled.
“I said, I can’t believe we’re stuck in the house with Oscar!” Jamal yelled, the helicopter fading into distance. Oscar’s head snapped from the window to Jamal. Jamal gulped as (y/n) laughed. Oscar rolled his eyes and walked to the couch sitting on it for the hundredth time. He’s always sat in the same spot when (y/n)’s family was out. (Y/N) bit her lip and smiled at Oscar when he was finally comfortable.
“Ruby.” (Y/N) spoke causing her brother to look at her. “If you need me, I'll be in my room.” She looked at Ruby who gave her a confused look.
“Okay?” His voice full of confusion. (Y/N) walked towards her room, leaving her door a little open when she was inside.
“I need to go to the bathroom.” Jasmine spoke before walking into the bathroom, completely terrified of Oscar. Oscar’s phone started buzzing and he took it out of his pocket.
“Where can I take this?” Oscar spoke looking at Ruby.
“There’s no one in my room.” Ruby pointed to the door next to (y/n)’s room. Oscar got up from the couch, walking towards Ruby’s room and looking back to see if they were looking at him. He quickly got inside (y/n)’s room and closed the door behind him.
“Oscar.” (Y/N) whispered out, getting up from her bed.
“You haven’t been answering my calls, nena.” Oscar walked up to her and she sighed.
“You didn’t come here for Cesar, did you?” She smiled before putting her hand in his.
“I was worried about you.” Oscar sighed.
“I’m sorry, I got caught up reading and I didn’t even bother to find my phone when I heard it. Plus, you know I can take care of myself if I ever needed to.” She kissed him.
“You shouldn’t have to, that’s my job.” Oscar smiled and moved his hands to her back. His lips met hers once more before their lips moved together. She moved backwards towards her bed before laying down, Oscar getting on top of her, their lips not parting.
“(Y/N), we’re playi- Oh my god.” Jamal closed the door as fast as he opened it. Oscar shot up, wiping his lips and looking at (y/n) who sat up on the bed.
“I’ll talk to him, stay here.” (Y/N) sighed and opened the door walking to the dining room where everyone was sitting around the table. Her eyes landed on Jamal whose eyes were practically bulging out of his eye sockets.
“Anyways, make love, marry, kill.” Olivia spoke and (y/n) rolled her eyes at the childish game.
“Maybe we should keep it low, we don’t want to poke the bear in (y/n)- I mean Ruby’s room.” (Y/N) looked at Jamal, her eyes wide.
“Jamal, can I talk to you?” (Y/N) smiled through her clenched jaw.
“I rather not.” Jamal looked down trying to keep his mouth shut.
“I’ll go first, I'd kill Jasmine.” Monse spoke. “I’d make love to Ruby, then I'd marry Jamal.” She smiled. “Jamal’s turn.” Monse spoke.
“Jamal.” (Y/N) spoke and Jamal just shook his head.
“(Y/N)’s dating Oscar!” Jamal yelled before covering his mouth and (y/n) closed her eyes, sighing as she heard her little brother.
“What!” Ruby yelled before the entire table started to ask her questions.

Chapter 6
AN: Haven’t watched the new season yet. But unfortunately, I fell victim to spoilers and bitch…I’m not ready. Also, I’m not even going to talk about how late this shit is, I’m truly sorry. But hey, quarantine calls for major writing and catching up! Hope you enjoy!! The end, I know the saying is “Old habits die hard” But it kind of makes more sense what i have, whatever blah blah blah...ignore me! Enjoy and all feedback is welcome!!
DISCLAIMER: I DON’T OWN ANYTHING OF ON MY BLOCK. I ONLY OWN MY CHARACTERS, DAISY, JACKIE, MADELINE, AND ANDREW.
Rollerworld. Do I think it’s real? Ehh kinda. So, I think that the robbery was real, and that Lil Ricky and some other Santos hid the money. But it’s still a little far-fetched. I mean if you think about it someone would've found the money by now. Right?
“So now Jamal has the boys roped into believing that the money is real. It’s stupid right?” Oh, that’s right, I was supposed to be listening to Monse.
“Yeah...yeah that’s crazy but Monse, what if he’s right?” Turning in my seat I connect with identical chocolate eyes. It’s strange, it’s like I'm looking in a mirror. “What if they robbed the bank, okay, then they hid the money so that only the chosen one can find it.”
“Not you too,” She sighed and threw her head back. “Jamal said the same thing. Someone called him the ‘chosen one’ and that he’d be the one to find the money.”  Strange.
“Anyways, what are you guys doing for Halloween? I hope y’all aren’t going out trick or treating-”
“I’m not ready to date Cesar!” Monse yells.
“Okay...”
“Did you not hear me?”
“Oh no, I heard you loud and clear.” Smacking my lips as I take a sip from my glass. “You said you weren’t ready to date Cesar.”
“Does that not surprise you?”
“No…”
“Well, why not?”
“Monse, you’re 14, nobody expects you to be in love. But there’s definitely something between you two.” Shrugging I get up to take our empty dishes to the kitchen.
“Definitely not in love…but how could I ever date a Santos? Cesar has changed, he’s not safe anymore.”
~~
“Let me be very clear Daisy, you will never be involved with a Santos. All they do is kill and walk around like they own the world, it’s too dangerous for you.”
“Just like the Prophets then?”
“Don’t, you know it’s not like that Daisy. The-”
“They’re all the same, the Prophets, the Santos, Bloods, Crips. They all walk around like someone owes them something. I’m not afraid of anything dad, I can handle myself.”
“Not when you’re carrying around one of those things. For goodness sakes Daisy, the guy that got you pregnant was just locked up and you’re just walking around here like nothing happened…”
“No,”
“I don’t want this life for you Daisy. You’re not going to make it. That baby is going to be raised om a broken home with no father. Things like this don’t end well. You and Oscar won’t make it Daisy.”
“JUST STOP!” A white porcelain plate fell to the ground in a million pieces.
“Daisy you need to calm down.” A very blurry Monte walks towards me slowly with his hands out in front of him, like he was trying to assist a wild animal.
“No, everyone goes on about my choices. What about yours and mamas. Both of you have made mistakes, but in the end both of you are doing just fine.” Once that first tear broke free, the rest followed like a broken stream. I fell to ground clutching my chest and before I knew it, I was wailing like a banshee. Strong arms wrapped around me, as I was pulled into a warm chest.
“It’s going to be okay baby, I promise.” Kisses were littered across my forehead.
~~
“Let me tell you something Monse. You can feel however you want to feel about anyone. Just know that whatever happens, it’s all on you. You’re old enough to know from right and wrong.” Groaning, my knees pop as I get from my kneeling position in front of Monse. “Date him if you want to, there’s nothing wrong with it. Just remember what the consequences are.”
“But you dated Oscar, were you never afraid he would put you in danger?”
“He never, not once, put my life in danger. I was his world.”
“Then what happened, why do you hate him now?” A loud click echoes through the now quiet and dimly lit living room, as I lock the dead bolt on the front door.
“Goodnight Monse!”
~~
HAllOWeEn
My favorite time of the year, trick or treating, decorated pumpkins, little kids in cute costumes, the eeriness of going out at nighttime, hauntings, and the spookiness of not knowing what lurks in the-
“BOO!” Dark. Yelping, I jump so hard that I manage to fling orange icing at the cause of my heart attack.
“Andrew, I really hate you!” my feet move before I could even think, I’m snatching paper towels and stomping over towards him to clean up the mess.
“Hey, well this is a big surprise. I didn’t expect to get hit with icing. Also isn’t today your day off?” He turns around once I finish wiping down his shirt, to hang up his black denim levi jacket.
“It is, well was, I decided to come in and give an extra hand.” Shrugging I move back to the bowl filled with icing and resume lathering the cake.
“Or are you avoiding a certain someone?” Here we go.
“Nope, I’m trying to do my job Andrew, and you’re slowing me down. So, shut up and stop it.” Not gonna lie, I was avoiding said person. I don’t want anything to do with him right now, but I feel it deep in my bones that I’m gonna end up with him tonight. A bell tinkled as the front door to the bakery opened.
“I say we go to Brentwood!”
“No, we don’t leave out the house tonight, I say we stay in and watch movies.” Glancing up I see Ruby, Jamal, Monse, and Olivia walk in and sit down at a corner booth.
“What’s wrong with going out?” Olivia turned her head to the side looking at Monse.
“Last year we got rolled up on. Not fun at all. But hey, scary movies are just as fun.”
“Let’s go to Brentwood.”
“I say we go out tonight, think we go somewhere different, -“
“Brentwood…”
“Brentwood, let’s go to Brentwood.”
“It is safer, bigger houses, that means better candy!” Monse enthusiastically replies leaning closer to Olivia. “But what about Cesar?”
“What about him?”
“Where will he be?”
“Riding in Oscar’s Impala, why does it even matter?”
“Just asking I thought it’d be good to include him; he is a part of the group.” The questioning went back and forth for a while, before they went on to tease each other. I slide the cake in the fridge to firm before heading to the front with cookies, and cupcakes and laying them on the table in front of them.
“I’m feeding y’all sweets before trick or treating, y’all better start loving me more.” I love you’s were quickly spread around the group.
“So, I guess you’re going out?”
“Do you wanna give us- “
“Hell no,” Laughing I turn around to check the checkout line. “I’m not getting mixed up in any foolery tonight, I’m staying in and handing out candy, but um good luck!” Walking into the kitchen I hang my apron and fetch my belongings.
“Someone let Maddie know I’m gone for the day!” I welcome the warm fresh kiss against my face as I step outside, I just smell trouble.
~~
For the rest of the evening I’m cleaning the kitchen, swiffering the floors, and dancing around to music when I get a knock at the door.
“Oh, my first trick or tr-eaters.” I all but run to the door just to be met with chocolate eyes adorned with a teardrop and white teeth.
“Trick or treat!”
“Sorry, I’m not handing any candy out tonight.” I try to close the door, but I’m met with force.
“Let me in Daisy, we need to talk.” Knowing he wasn’t going to leave until I follow his orders, I place the bowl on the accent table by the door and make my way back to the kitchen.
“How come every time you want to talk; it has to be on your terms? When I wanted to talk you weren’t up to it.”
He scoffs, “How come you didn’t want to talk all those years ago?”
“If you’re going to continue to bring it up then you can find your way back out my damn door,” Placing my hands on my wide hips. “Now, are you hungry?”
“Feed me mamacita, you know I’m always hungry.” Quickly I warm some leftovers, creamy shrimp Alfredo with garlic bread. Small talk was made as we ate, and trick or tr-eaters came and went. Everything was calm until Oscar got a weird text message.
“I gotta go!” He mumbles through clenched teeth.
“Woah, woah, what’s going on? Is everything okay?” Jumping up, I trail after him to the door.
“Cesar needs me.” I grab his arm and turn him to face me.
“What happened to him? Is he hurt?”
“No, but he and his friends crashed a pa- “
“Wait, he went with them tonight?” He nods, “I’m going with you and don’t try to stop me, Monse is with them. So, I’m going!” Within 5 minutes I’m perched in the passenger side of his red impala and we’re speeding to Brentwood. A large and warm hand is placed upon my thigh and that’s when I realized how bad I was shaking.
“They’re okay, no one is seriously hurt.” Yeah, that wasn’t very convincing. My fucking nerves are fried. His hand stays there the rest of the way. Brentwood is one beautiful neighborhood. For the rich. The kids come into view as he comes to a stop in front of some party, with a group of young boys standing outside. Before I can even think, Oscar is out and speed walking to the kid dressed up like a Cholo. Oh fuck.
“Spooky!” I yell as soon as I step out the car. He begins whispering and the poor kid starts shaking. Footsteps come rushing over when I hear a familiar voice call my name. I meet the halfway and carefully check everyone over before I return my focus to Oscar.
“What do you want?” I guess you don’t mess with anyone Oscar loves.
~~
We drop Monse off at dads, with the promise of me coming back to pick her up later, and everyone else at Ruby’s. Oscar comes back to my house to “make sure I make it back safe”.
“I’ll be okay Oscar, I promise. Plus, I’m going to get Monse in a bit.”
“I wasn’t going to hurt him.” Blowing air, I turn to face him.
“If he would’ve drew blood from any of them, would you have hurt him?” He looks me in my eyes, and I feel goosebumps rise as he starts moving towards me.
“I don’t like when someone messes with the people I love, or who they love.” One step backwards for every step forward.
“You didn’t answer my question.” I whisper as my back hits a wall. His hands immediately come to rest on my face.
“I’ll kill anyone who hurts my loved ones.” Soft lips fall upon mine, and before I know it my thighs are wrapped around his waist and we’re on our way to my bedroom. Well tonight didn’t go as planned. Especially once I end up underneath him. Bad habits die hard they say…and you Oscar Diaz, you’re my bad habit…

hey, I was wondering if it would be alright to do a one shot with Jasmine and Ruby?? They're literally a thing now, and I have hardly seen ANYONE write fanfics for them :(
Thanks for the ask! Hope you like it
First Date || Ruby & Jasmin
Tumblr media
Summary: Ruby and Jasmine have their first date.
Warnings: none
A/N: showing a little love to a cute couple. Here’s a little fluff piece!
Jasmin set down the lipstick she had just applied and stared at her reflection in the mirror. She had chosen to wear a hot pink cheetah print dress, black lace biker shorts and sparkly gladiator sandals.
“Damn Jasmin yous lookin fine” she said to her reflection. As much self confidence as Jasmine has she couldn’t help but feel nervous. Tonight was her first official date with Ruby. Yes, they had had a very passionate night a few days ago but tonight would make things official and public. And besides Jasmin had never been on an actual date. She heard a knock at her door, must be Ruby, she thought to herself and grabbed a jacket heading out of her room.
———————
“Ma I don’t have time” Ruby yelled through his bedroom door. He was busy getting ready for his first date with Jasmin when his mom yelled for him to help put away the groceries. He finished styling his hair and stepped out into the hallway.
“Aye Ruby I’m not asking again. Come put the groceries away and then you can leave.” His mother replied turning to face him.
Ruby sighed and grabbed a bag off of the counter, emptying its contents into the fridge.
Ruby was headed over to Jasmin’s house. It was a warm evening and he had everything planned down to the last second. He reached her front door, stuck out his arm and knocked.
——————
Jasmin opened the door to find Ruby standing on her porch in a maroon button down and black pants.
“Heyyyy Ruby” Jasmin said, smiling as she stepped outside.
“Hey Jasmin” said Ruby with a smile on his own face. “You ready?”
“I wouldn’t have come outside if I wasn’t ready would I” Jasmin said laughing
They took off walking down the block “so are you gonna tell me where we’re going yet?” Jasmin asked
“It’s a surprise” Ruby responded
They made small talk, laughing, as they walked hand in hand. Soon enough they were standing in front of Midnight Roller rink. It seemed to be neon night from the way people were dressed.
“Ruby, are you taking me roller skating? You don’t even like roller skating” Jasmin said, turning to face him.
“Yeah I know but you do and as soon as I saw it was gonna be a neon theme I knew it was perfect” he said as he took her hand and led her to the entrance.
After paying and putting on their skates, the couple made their way to the rink. Ruby immediately remember why it was that he didn’t like skating as he began to lose his balance. But Jasmin was there to steady him. She held his hands and skated backwards to make sure Ruby stayed upright. Music blared through the speakers and strobe lights flashed neon colors as they made their way around the rink.
Ruby leaned in closer to Jasmin and asked “are you hungry or thirsty?”
She nodded and they made their way off the rink and towards the concession stand. Ruby ordered food and drinks for both of them and they moved to find a table.
“So ar- are you having a good time?” Ruby asked
Jasmin took a bite of her hotdog and nodded “yes this is so much fun and they got good hotdogs” she said as she took another bite.
After finishing up their food the couple made their way back to the rink and began skating again. After a while a stranger skated past them knocking into Ruby and caused him to lose his balance. Both he and Jasmin fell to the floor, Ruby falling on top of her.
“Aye Ruby, at least take me home first before putting me on my back” Jasmin said and they burst out laughing. “I think that’s our cue to head out”
They returned their skates and began the walk back to Jasmin’s house. There was a warm breeze as they walked and the roads were mostly clear. Soon the found themselves back on Jasmin’s front step.
“So” Jasmin began “I had a lot of fun tonight”
“Me too” Ruby replied.
They stared at each other, neither saying anything. Ruby leaned in and Jasmin leaned down slowly until their lips met in a kiss, soft at first but it grew more heated as Ruby swiped his tongue across Jasmine’s bottom lip. Her lips parted and she ran her hands through his hair. Ruby ran his hands down over her hips. The sound of an approaching car reminded them where they were and they pulled away breathless.
“Goodnight Ruby” Jasmin said as she opened her front door.
“Goodnight Jasmin” Ruby replied, watching as she shut the door.

Like every other weekday after school, the gang around your brother was hanging out in the living-room of your house. Once in a while, you could hear them snicker, and it was only a matter of time until one of them would come and find you in your room. Although you had to study for college, you usually hosted them with kindness and patience. Throughout time you had become their most reliable and trustworthy reference person when it came to school or relationship issues. And to be quite frank, you were enjoying having this role. Whenever they knocked on your door, it felt like you were holding tiny therapy sessions in your bedroom.
Today, the squad seemed to be feeling rather excited about a certain topic. You had noticed Ruby being different during the past few days and already wondered when they would come to talk to you about the current problem.
Eventually, someone knocked on your door. You instantly opened the door and spotted a jumpy Jamal standing in front of you.
“Y/N,” he began, clapping his hands together in enthusiasm while you wondered why his eye was covered in some sort of pirate accessory, “I’m going to tell you a story.”
He sat down on your bed and rambled on about some roller world money he was eager to find. Cesar’s brother had given him a hint and now he was certain he would find the cash. And if you helped him, he would split it with you.
That night, just as you took out the trash bins, a familiar red car pulled up at your house. Cesar’s brother, Oscar, was here to pick him up. You knew Oscar was the leader of los Santos, therefore you had no attention to mess with him in any way.
“Mami, tell Cesar to come out, yeah?” Oscar yelled at you across the lawn. You chuckled and walked over to him, not willing to let him get away with an order like that.
“Go and tell Cesar yourself, Papi,” you smirked with one eyebrow risen, earning a look of surprise on Oscar’s face. He lowered his sunglasses and stared into your eyes so intensely you had to look away. Reluctantly, Oscar stopped the engine and followed you to the house.
“C, your brother’s here,” you announced as you entered the building. Everyone looked up from what they were doing. Silence fell over the room when they saw you standing next to Oscar, quite closely.
“What is it?” You asked, but quickly noticed Oscar was standing closer to you than you thought, sending a little jolt of electricity to your core.
*
When you were walking home from your part time job at the library two nights later, you noticed a car following you. It was already dark and you had forgotten your jacket in the afternoon, so your bare arms were covered in goosebumps, trying to fight against the chilly night air. Your footsteps on the pavement became increasingly faster when you heard the vehicle behind you come closer, your heart already almost bursting out of your chest.
Suddenly, as if a car following you wasn’t enough to cause a trauma, you spotted four guys ahead of you, all dressed in black. “Fuck,” you mumbled at the actual fear of prophets in the area.
“Get inside.” A dark, low voice spoke next to you, making you jump. Oscar.
He reached over to open the car door for you and you hesitated, throwing a last look at the dark shapes a few metres away from you. Sighing in relief, you slumped down in the passenger’s seat. You turned to look at him, a frown was plastered on his face as he took in your form in the barely illuminated car.
“You alright?”
“Yes,” you breathed, incredibly thankful at him for showing up just in time. Oscar started the engine as you tensely shifted in your seat.
“Am I making you nervous?” He let out a deep chuckle, his eyes still focused on the road.
“Nope,” you lied.
During the ride to your place, neither of you spoke. Occasionally, you would glance over at Oscar to study his face. Despite his spooky appearance and first impression, he was indeed very handsome. Full, puffy lips and gorgeous brown eyes covered by enviably thick eyelashes.
He pulled up at your house and his expression turned stern. “Cesar says you work at the library until late. I’m going to pick you up tomorrow. Can’t let anything happen to you.”
You furrowed your brows and were just about to object, but Oscar quickly shushed you.
“Good night, princesa, see you tomorrow.”
You were speechless when you left his car and walked over to your house across the front lawn, turning around once more to see him waiting until you got inside. Creepy or adorable?
When you stepped into the house, your mother instantly addressed you, Ruby on her tail.
“Who was that?” She questioned, a hint of accusation in her tone.
“Tha-”, you began, but Ruby cut you short.
“That was Oscar, Cesar’s brother. He’s got a thing for Y/N.” Ruby winked at your mum and her gaze shifted from you to him, and back at you.
“Stop it, Ruby. He doesn’t!” You rolled your eyes and marched off, hearing Ruby say something along the lines of “everyone knows but her.”
Laying in your bed that night, you somehow couldn’t stop thinking about that cute dimple that formed on Oscar’s cheek whenever he smiled.
The next day, Thursday, Oscar picked you up from work like he had promised. This time, the car ride home wasn’t so awkward anymore, you even exchanged a few words. Gradually, you felt more comfortable and less anxious in his presence. It might’ve been to blame on his scent that was surrounding you- a mixture between beer, weed and cologne. Before you could leave the car, Oscar insisted you saved his number in your phone in case something came up.
On Friday, just as you packed your bag, ready to leave work, a text plopped up on your phone screen.
Princesa, I can’t make it today. I’m sending someone to pick you up instead. O x
While you were fairly disappointed not to see him, you also wondered where he’d gotten your number from, seeing as you didn’t give it to him.
A car was already parked outside when you left the building. A muscular, dark haired male with a face tattoo opened the car door for you, laughing at the shocked grimace on your face.
“Spooky sent me.”
Soon you noticed this wasn’t your usual route home. Just when you began to panic, imagining kidnapping scenarios inside your head, your driver stopped at a not recognizable building.
“Spooky’s already waiting for you.”
Curiously, you left the car and knocked on the front door.
Oscar opened it a second later and smiled a heart-warming, welcoming smile upon seeing you. He cautiously kissed your cheek and ushered you inside.
“What is this?” You asked, looking around the room, puzzled.
Oscar showed his signature smirk and pulled back the chair at the dining table, gesturing for you to sit down.
“Dinner.” His brief reply was intentionally kept this way so you wouldn’t ask further questions, and you obliged and sat down, smiling sheepishly. Luckily, the room was dark, otherwise Oscar must’ve noticed your cheeks burn up in embarrassment. He sat down opposite of you, the big cross chain dangling from his neck. For a second, you just admired the food he had prepared, only for you, apparently.
“Mami,” Oscar said from across the table so you looked back up at him. His warm, brown eyes met yours and you were  hooked. Now you finally realised that he had always looked at you this way. You just hadn’t noticed.
“I’m glad you’re here.”

Ruined pt. 2 📱 César x Reader (Friends)
First Part: Ruined 📱César x Reader (Enemies to Friends)
Request: None
Pronouns: None stated, but involves you wearing a dress
Word Count: 1306
Warnings: Guns, Blood, Death Mention, Murder
It was done.
You sat at a empty table in Ruby’s backyard. All around you, people laughed and danced. All around you was happiness. The quinceañera was in full swing and it was a beautiful night. The decorations were beautiful, the ceremony was beautiful and Olivia looked gorgeous in her dress. Even you had to admit Ruby had done an amazing job with the planning, it was perfect, but still all you could feel was loneliness.
César sent the text days ago. Latrelle was dead and in all that time from then, to now it seemed like crying was impossible. You didn’t know how to feel. Relieved? Sad? It was all a blur. The man you had loved was gone and now you were at a party with his murderer.
You were surprised you had enough strength to stay. Especially after how awkward it was to talk to Olivia, Ruby, Monse, and Jamal again.
At the rehearsal, Olivia could tell something was on your mind. She had even said it was okay if you didn’t come, but you resisted. It was her day. You wanted it to be her day. A day of fun and celebration an it was, but still you couldn’t help but feel empty inside.
So, after going to the church ceremony you chose a table in the back of the backyard to make sure no one noticed how uninterested you looked. But, still somehow César found a way to get to you.
He sat down next to you, “Hey”
You mustered up enough courage to reply, “Hey”
“Are you okay?” He asked. You took a deep breath.
“Yeah, where’s Olivia?”
“Ruby took her inside the house for her last present.”
“That’s good. I’m glad she’s enjoying her quinceañera.”
“Yeah,” He turned to you, “She is.”
Looking at his eyes you thought that maybe your frown would disappear, but it didn’t. You still felt nothing. Nothing at all.
“Are you thinking of him?” César whispered.
You look down at your lap, at the glittery purple fabric of your dress. “I’m always thinking of him. You did it quickly, right? Was he scared?”
Your breath sped up thinking about the murder. What if he called out for you? What if he cried? If he had called out for you in his final moments you realize that would be enough to make you cry. That would be enough to make you throw up and run as far away as you could.
“He didn’t feel any pain. I promised.” César said, gently taking your hand. “Everything’s okay, Y/N. It’s over now. We’re all safe and he’s in a better place now. He doesn’t have to fake any more.”
You looked at his eyes and calmed down.
“Come on, let’s get you a drink.”
You nodded and allowed César to guide you from your table in the back to where the drinks were. The music was loud and the energy in the area was full of excitement. A fast paced song was playing and everyone was dancing. You notice your mood beginning to perk up a bit. Every person there probably had problems they needed to deal with, but they were still dancing. You decided that you wanted to dance too.
Suddenly Olivia ran out of the back door with Ruby right behind her.
“Guys look!” Olivia shouted.
You, César and Monse ran to Olivia, where she was tightly holding a cell phone.
“It’s my parents! Say hi!”
Everyone began to crowd around Olivia, shouting “Hello’s” and “We miss you's ” to the phone which was on a facetime call with her parents. You felt César press up behind you trying to get a view of the phone. Looking back at him you smiled. Not because he was behind you in a romantic way, but because you felt a bit more comfortable being near him.
You stepped out from in front of him, moving behind him so he could take your spot. You took a deep breath, trying to remember that moment. Olivia was happy. Everyone was happy and you felt good. Not completely happy, but at this moment you felt content.
Turning away from the crowd at the center of the dance floor, you grin to yourself and look at the strange shadow entering the open gate. You squint your eyes at the person standing at the entrance.
Then a loud shot breaks the air.
Everything stops. The music stops, the noise stops and everyone bends down, except you.
You were the only one standing. You see Latrelle standing a few feet in front of you in horror. His mouth was hanging open, tears brimming his eyes. He looked like he wanted to say something, but he couldn’t. Smoke was lifting off the gun he was holding. He almost dropped it in shock. He can only stare at you.
“Y/N! Are you okay, get down!” Ruby shouts.
You felt like you were in a trance. You turned slowly to face Ruby on the floor behind you, revealing to the crowd the blood seeping through your dress. Your eyes wide. Breath slowly going in and out. Then you fall to the ground on your back with a large thud.
Latrelle turns and runs back out the gate. People surround you, somewhere someone is yelling. Your hand instantly goes to where the bullet entered and when you remove your hand you see that it’s bright red.
Your vision was foggy, the world was swirling, then you felt the pain.
Screaming, you begin to cry. Ruby’s mom, Geny, pushes through the crowd and reaches you. She holds your right hand.
“Mija an ambulance is coming. I’m here. I’m here. It’s going to be okay.”
You can feel the blood pool out of you. The pain was overwhelming; it felt like you were drowning in it.
“Breathe mija! Breathe! Everyone back up! Please God, keep them alive!”
You tried to focus on breathing, but it was hard. A million thoughts were rushing through your head. Latrelle had shot you. Everything hurt so bad. There was so much noise. People were running to their cars. Children were crying, afraid of the loud noise.
You could hear the ambulance siren get closer, but you felt so tired. You just wanted to close your eyes. You wanted to pretend this wasn’t happening.
“No, no keep your eyes open.” Olivia yelled. She was now next to you, holding your other hand.
César was right beside her.
Tears began to fall from your eyes. You squeezed both Geny’s, and Olivia’s hand. Opening your mouth to say, “I don’t want to die.”
“You’re not going to, we’re not letting you. Just wait a little longer. The ambulance is almost here. Just wait a little longer.” Geny whispered. She rubbed your cheek, wiping away the tears.
You now noticed that César had been putting pressure on your wound. Trying desperately to stop the bleeding. Quietly cursing at himself.
“Who could have done this!” Someone shouts.
You feel more blood leak out of you.
“Olivia,” You whisper.
“I’m here. I’m here. Don’t talk, just focus on breathing.”
You slowly remove you hand from hers and lift your finger to point at Ruby staring at you. He was crying, he looked so scared. In a way you knew if Ruby was scared you should be scared.
“Tell Ruby to close his eyes and turn around. I don’t want him to watch me die. He’s like me. I can’t, I don’t want him to- ”
“Shh, I told you you’re not dying. Stop talking” She whispered. “Ruby, turn around!” Turn around!”
Ruby turned and ran inside the house.
Geny continued to baby you. Saying it would be okay. Wiping the tears and sweat from your face.
Slowly your eyes began to close, you were just so so tired.
You could only mumble out to Cesar, “You said everything is okay.” and “I’m sorry” to Olivia before feeling your eyes close.
And the last thing you hear are footsteps, and more screaming.

Cesar held her in his arms as the tears fell from her eyes staining his shirt and breaking his heart. He never quite Knew how to comfort Charlotte, he never had to. She was always the one helping someone else, the one who knew what to say, who knew how to make the meanest thug blush in admiration and the worst bitch smile with glee. No one ever had to help her feel better, she did that for everyone else in Freeridge, and yet no one knew how to do that for her. He had tried to impress her and be as romantic as she was but she was so easily pleased with kindness that while he gave her a pricy bouquet if some random guy gave her a random handful of wild flowers with the roots and dirt still attached she’d be just as happy. It wasn’t that she wasn’t impressed easily by him, it’s that she’s just as easily impressed by everyone else. It made his job harder. Now he was the only one who she came to, showing up at his door with tears in her eyes and her hands clutching her crossed arms, red nose sniffling. That led to them on his bed, her sobbing as she told him about her brother being arrested. He knew the feeling of someone you loved being arrested his brother too was arrested, the difference was Oscar had gone to actual jail, her brother (being her twin) was in juvie and when he turned 18 then he’d hit the slammer.
All he could do was think of one question.
“What happened?”
She lifted her head slowly looking him in the eyes.
“He’s been charged for a lot of different things, he did a lot of secret things whenever he left out, things he never told me, I just came home to Lucy panicking and she told he was arrested, she won’t even tell me why, or how, he’s just gone!” She sniffed some more but his question seemed to distract her from crying.
“If you need anything, I can help or Oscar, I think he has a soft spot for you and your family” her lip twitched upward as he said the last part.
“You mean he has a soft spot for Lucy” she giggled lightly trying to wipe the tears off her cheek, Cesar raised his thumb, wiping lightly across her skin as he tried to help.
“Is it weird your sister and my brother used to date?” He asked acting nonchalant but secretly feeling a little discomfort.
“No, but it is weird they still hook up sometimes whenever he visits”
“He visits?!” Cesar knew Oscar was close to the Candid girls for protection, but he didn’t know his brother was close enough to visit their home.
“Yep, just when big conflicts and issues go down in the neighbor and to check in at times to make sure Jason is… under control.” He heard the tremor in her voice and a scowl formed on his face, if anyone needed to be arrested to was Jason candid, but he could tell she didn’t want talk about him. They stayed silent for a minute. At least she stopped crying and now just looked down at their intertwined hands. He wasn’t her boyfriend, at least not yet he hoped, but he sure was her closest friend. He sometimes thought they would become more but it was never sure. Now that all seemed unimportant to him. He just wanted her to be happy, and he wanted her brother out of trouble.
Jest and Cesar were not close at all in fact jest hated Cesar, but they had a mutual agreement to keep Charlotte safe. Just worked at home and Cesar worked the streets. She didn’t know about this and they never talked about it. It was more of a silent understanding both letting the other know if anything happened it would be their fault. Now that he was arrested that left Lucy and Charlotte under Jason’s care and Jason’s care alone. That was not going to end well.
“Stay here” Cesar barley realized he was saying this. “You and Lucy should stay here till we can figure something out, Oscar would be fin-“
“No” Cesar wasn’t shocked by her answer, he was shocked by her tone “I am not going to do that to you guys, we can take care of ourselves”
“No doubt, but Jest brought in a lot of your guy’s money, we can help” She stood up and didn’t look angry but looked sad and conflicted
“Cesar…” He wanted to stop her knowing she would reject his offer “I thank you, but if you really want to help, just pray for us, and… tell me how you got through it with Oscar” Cesar was quiet, he knew exactly how he got through it, he just knew she didn’t have it and didn’t have the heart to tell her, and yet for some reason he did anyway.
“My friends” he whispered, then cleared his throat and spoke up “I had my friends to help me through it” He expected her face to fall but instead it lit up and she gave a smile.
“that’s awesome” she mused “and sweet” she looked down at him with those big amber eyes and he noticed they were glossy “I think I can head home now”
“But you just-“

You’ve been sitting at the table with Cesar for the last two hours, the paper in front of you is still considered empty, the boy was beyond frustrated, only five names were written, his, yours, their dad’s, their mom’s and Oscar’s, he frowned “Mijo just write down anything” you complained, he shook his head “I can’t, I know we have relatives but I don’t know how is everyone related to us, I don’t know what they do for work or who they’re married to!” He mumbled, you sighed “can you at least finish the rest of your homework and we can ask Oscar about it when he returns home?” He replied negatively again “I’ve already done my homework, this is the last one”
You waited for about an hour before Oscar came to the rescue, his white shirt on as well as his knee-length shorts, he raised an eyebrow at the two of you “hola famillia” he greeted you both with a kiss on the forehead “do we have anything to eat?” He asked but didn’t wait for an answer, he went to the fridge and grabbed himself a plate of leftovers then joined you on the table, both looking at him “what? Was I supposed to share?” He said with his mouth half full, you shook your head “then what is it?” You looked at the paper titled family tree, he did too and laughed “they’re still milking that?” Cesar nodded “I need your help, I don’t know who to put there” the youngest said with a pleading tone.
Oscar put down the food and wiped his hands clean with his dirty shorts then picked up the paper and read it, he put it down after a moment “Yeah, that’s about it” he said approvingly “this is not about it Oscar I’m going to fail, I need more information and more family members!” He whined, his brother rolled his eyes “what else could you possibly need?”, “full names, birthdates, favourite thing in the world, professions, who are our ancestors, whose married to whom, whose family to whom” the boy explained “well, mom and dad are married to each other, one’s a junkie and dead, the other is in prison, we are Mexicans, and that’s about it”
You opened your mouth to disagree about the amount of information he gave, but you knew better, you understood that Oscar and the past aren’t quite friends, especially if it’s related to their family, so you kept it quiet “Oscar! Come on! This isn’t helpful at all, all of my friends will talk about their families! All but me!” the boy pouted “we are the only family you need to know of, we and the Santos” the older one said stubbornly, you rolled your eyes, as if a child can ever speak of a gang and call them family in a school assignment no matter how good they are to him.
The brothers quibbled for half an hour before Spooky shouted that it was enough and left the table, leaving Cesar barely holding back his tears, you comforted him or tried to, but ended up sending him to his room, he needed space to be vulnerable and alone, while you talk to your idiot of a man, you grabbed two bottles of Corona and headed to the porch where he was sitting, he was just done with smoking his cigarette, you sat down on the staircase next to him and handed him an open bottle which he took gratefully yet kept a suspicious eye on you.
“Say it” he said after minutes of awkward silence, you acted clueless “just say it, you are here to give me shit about what just happened so let’s get it over with it” he grumbled then took a sip of his beer “look, I know talking about your family is hard for you but you were a dick, Cesar never asked about any of them, not your mom, not your dad, not even your weird cousins, he just wanted to know few things that would help with his school assignment! Couldn’t you throw in fake names and fake information just to make him happy? It's not like they would check!” you spoke, he raised an eyebrow at you, shaking his head in disbelief “I expected you to understand of all people”
