Yuri Anime 'Whisper Me a Love Song' Announce April 13 Debut; HIDIVE to Simulcast

Last Friday, an announcement posted to the official website for the upcoming television anime adaptation of Eku Takeshima's Whisper Me a Love Song (Sasayaku You ni Koi o Utau) revealed that the series will premiere on April 13. Additionally, on Wednesday, Sentai Filmworks announced that it has licensed the anime and will stream the anime internationally on HIDIVE.

Whisper Me a Love Song follows first-year high school student Himari Kino, who, at a welcome ceremony, witnesses Yori Asanagi singing and instantly falls in "love." She immediately confesses her admiration to Yori, who misinterprets Himari's feelings as romantic. However, once she realizes her mistake, Yori swears that she will make Himari fall for her for real.

The release date announcement also included a new key visual (above) and information about the opening and ending themes. Whisper Me A Love Song's opening theme, "Follow your arrows," is performed by the fictional band SSGIRLS from the anime and sung by Kana Sasakura, who provides the singing voice for main character Yori Asanagi.

Sentai Filmworks will simulcast the anime exclusively on HIDIVE in North America, Australia, the the British Isles. The North American premiere will be screened at Anime Boston 2024 on March 29.

The anime, which was delayed from its initially announced January premiere, is directed by Akira Mano at Cloud Hearts and Yokohama Animation Laboratory. Mano replaced the initially announced director, Xin Ya Cai, due to "health reasons." Character designer Minami Yoshida and script supervisor Hiroki Uchida join Mano.

The anime stars Hana Shimano as Himari Kino and Asami Seto as Yori Asanagi. Additional cast includes:

Whisper Me A Love Song Episode 1 Review - Love At First Sight

This is the first time I’m watching and reviewing an actual yuri anime. While I do prefer BL more, I do want to expand my horizons and try out different genres. The first episode of Whisper Me A Love Song was actually really cute.

The story is about first year Himari Kino who starts her first day in high school and falls for the cool third year Yori Asanagi when she plays for the opening ceremony’s live band. Himari cannot get Yori out of her mind and when she manages to see her at the shoe lockers, she confesses to her. After her confession, Yori starts becoming interested in her. However, it turns out that Himari’s love and Yori’s love aren’t the same! Uh-oh.

The premiere was super cute! I loved the colors and the animation! I just think this will be a sweet and pure love story between two girls. I do like how it’s similar to other romance animes that are pure and sweet like Sasaki and Miyano or My Love Story With Yamada. To be honest, it does kind of remind me of Given with the music theme and with the way the leads have the same hair and eye colors as Uenoyama and Mafuyu. Heck, even Yori, the black-haired and blue-eyed lead, finds inspiration in her cuter, red-haired love interest like how Uenoyama finds motivation to love music again after meeting Mafuyu who is also cute and has red hair. It’s like a happier version of Given but with lesbians.

I think the first episode really does solidify Yori and Himari as characters. Yori has never fallen in love before and despite misunderstanding Himari’s love, decides that she wants her to feel the same way. The fact that she’s motivated by cat merchandise is hilariously cute. Himari is super adorable. She’s like a puppy! I do like how straight forward she is when it comes to her feelings. While she isn’t exactly feeling romantic love right now, the way she’s able to express herself so well is a good trait. I do hope to see a scene where Himari realizes she’s in love with Yori.

The side characters are fun! I quite liked the red-haired rich girl. The way she was like “Go fall in love with someone” after hearing Yori struggling with making a love song was hilarious. Like, that’s a tall order, girl. Then there’s the tall ditzy girl who clings onto her. Then there’s Miki, Himari’s friend and Aki’s sister. Aki herself seems interesting as she is shown prominently in the opening, meaning that she’ll have her own love story.

The voice acting is good! Fun fact: Yori’s singing voice and her speaking voice are two different people. Her voice actress for regular dialogue is Asami Seto, who voiced Kasane Randall from Scarlet Nexus and Nobara from Jujutsu Kaiser. Her singing voice is done by Kana Sasakura, who is a singer. I think this is rather interesting because music animes usually have the singing done by their respective voice actors. To see Yori have two different voices is a rather unique concept. I’m not sure if Seto can sing, but I do wonder what the thought process behind this was. Do they want to promote a lesser known musician? Regardless, this is cool! Sasakura’s voice is good! I think that this is a good way to promote a musician! I honestly quite like Asami Seto as a voice actress so to hear her voice an awkward girl will be a treat for my ears!

Himari is voiced by Hana Shimano. This is the first time Shimano is voicing a lead and her voice is extremely adorable. It’s high-pitched but not like ear-gratingly high. There’s a right amount of high tone that doesn’t seem like she’s straining herself. There’s also a softness to it. It’s really nice to listen to! It’s something I’d definitely listen to constantly!

The side cast is actually stacked. Holy cow. First, there’s Miki who’s voiced by Aoi Koga. I know her from Hirogaru Sky Precure as Ellee and I couldn’t recognize her voice at all! Dang, she’s versatile! Is that her normal voice? If it is, it’s great! Then there’s Mikako Komatsu who voices her sister Aki. I think Komatsu is super versatile and is also a voice actress I really like listening to! Heck, I didn’t even realize Aki was voiced by Komatsu until the credits rolled and I usually can recognize her voice by ear! Good job passing through my good ears! The red-haired rich girl is Mari and she’s voiced by Konomi Kohara. I like her character and her voice so I’m keeping an eye out for her. The tall ditzy girl is Tachibana and she’s voiced by Ai Kakuma who voiced Mashiro from Hirogaru Sky Precure. There are so many Precure voice actors here!

Though, if there is one thing I am worried about, it’s mainly the state of the future episodes. The first episode is good, but, after doing some research, I saw that this anime was delayed from its previous Winter 2024 broadcasting due to a change in directors. I’ve honestly never heard of an anime where the director was changed in the middle of production. Will this ruin the state of the anime? Who knows. I like what I saw so far, so please don’t let this anime become a train wreck—I’m an anime-only, by the way.

I feel like my Saturdays are going to be great thanks to this show. I hope it’ll be the start for me to try more yuri anime. Are there any yuri recommendations you want me to take a look at? Let me know!

Après sa sortie de prison, l’ancien patron de Renault s’est évertué à préparer sa défense face à la machine judiciaire japonaise.

La liberté a commencé par une scène de film comique muet pour Carlos Ghosn. Le 6 mars, celui qui a été happé 108 jours plus tôt par la machine judiciaire japonaise réapparaît déguisé en manutentionnaire, avec sur le visage un masque anti-allergies. Son avocat Takashi Nakano l’a convaincu de se déguiser pour semer les tenaces paparazzis nippons. Peine perdue. Non seulement la supercherie est éventée en direct, mais la presse japonaise, qui a mobilisé motos, voitures et hélicoptères, le déniche rapidement et organise un campement devant son nouveau domicile. Lui qui était demandé partout, «que les chefs d’État voulaient voir dans chaque pays où son avion se posait», comme le raconte un ancien de Nissan, a eu énormément de mal à trouver un point de chute - c’est le mot. Personne ne le voulait en locataire ou en voisin. Finie l’étrange tour en forme de champignon du quartier chic d’Azabu où vit la jet-set nippo-internationale ; il a trouvé finalement un petit appartement dans le quartier de Shibuya, au cœur de la ville. Ce n’est pas Versailles, mais enfin… Quatre jours plus tard, il y fête son anniversaire en famille. 65 ans!

Les premiers jours, Carlos Ghosn est traqué. Chaque sortie - un déjeuner au grand Hyatt, un café à l’American Club - se transforme en cirque médiatique. À cette tempête qui partout l’accompagne il oppose un silence assourdissant. En détention, il avait promis le bruit et la fureur dès sa sortie. Désormais il se tait, d’abord pour reprendre des forces, ensuite probablement sur le conseil de son avocat. Ce dernier n’a pas encore accès aux charges ; il craint que toute révélation publique ne se retourne contre son client. «Il veut parler», répètent ses proches. Mais il tient cette note muette. Au point de se faire presque oublier, de s’effacer progressivement des unes des journaux. «C’est un vieux sushi, cette histoire», plaisante Kyoko, une employée de bureau.

Ses filles sont passées le voir. Son fils, non. Avec sa femme, Carole, Carlos Ghosn reprend une vie presque normale, n’étaient-ce les conditions drastiques de sa libération sous caution. Il dispose d’un téléphone - mais sans Internet. Il n’a pas le droit de contacter des personnes liées à l’affaire. Personne n’a le droit de lui montrer, par exemple, l’écran d’un téléphone portable ; tout document en ligne doit lui être remis en version imprimée. Une caméra vidéo a été montée devant la porte de son domicile pour vérifier ses entrées et ses sorties. Mais cela n’est rien à côté de sa vie en cellule à la prison de Kosuge. Le pire est sans doute l’ennui pour cet ancien patron qui hier régnait sur 450.000 employés et ne doit plus s’occuper que de lui-même. Mais il peut enfin préparer sa défense. Le doute s’installe sur la solidité de certaines charges qu’avance le procureur de Tokyo. Carlos Ghosn a la chance a priori d’avoir pour juge principal Kenji Shimotsu, à la réputation excellente, d’indépendance et d’équilibre.

Mais ce n’est qu’un répit. Le bureau du procureur n’a pas du tout goûté sa libération sous caution. Le jour de sa sortie, Tokyo bruissait de bruits de couloir d’une nouvelle arrestation sur des versements effectués à Oman. Ces rumeurs se sont dégonflées - avant d’être ressuscitées par un signalement, cette fois de Renault, à la justice française, précisément à propos de versements suspects vers Oman. L’alliance Renault-Nissan semble au moins fonctionner sur le plan judiciaire… Est-ce cette synchronisation qui a libéré le procureur de ses scrupules? Mercredi, le quotidien Sankei lâche le premier la bombe: Carlos Ghosn va être arrêté à nouveau. La meute de journalistes des premiers jours se forme à nouveau au pied de son immeuble. La com de Carlos Ghosn réagit en créant un compte Twitter si subitement que la presse se demandera un temps s’il est authentique. Premier abonné: son fils Anthony.

L’appartement passé au peigne fin

Ce compte n’aura le temps que d’envoyer un message, en anglais et en japonais: «Je m’apprête à dire la vérité sur ce qui est en train de se passer. Conférence de presse le 11 avril.» Une fébrilité qui débouche sur des interviews en cascade dans les dernières heures de sa liberté - mais à qui? Pour répondre quoi? Il enregistre une vidéo en anglais dans le bureau de son avocat. Il évite les médias qui suivent l’affaire et choisit TF1-LCI. Il accorde une interview à Maria Bartiromo, la présentatrice vedette et haute en couleurs de la chaîne américaine Fox Business ; elle racontera à ses téléspectateurs avoir vécu l’arrestation en direct. Au moment où elle se prépare, un peu avant 6 heures du matin, on frappe à la porte des Ghosn. C’est le procureur de Tokyo. Une dizaine de fonctionnaires viennent l’arrêter. Ils l’emmènent une petite heure plus tard tandis que d’autres fouillent l’appartement de fond en comble, saisissent ses affaires, «y compris les documents sur lesquels il avait préparé sa défense», dénonce son avocat Junichiro Hironaka.

Son épouse Carole, présente, assiste au passage au peigne fin de l’appartement. Les enquêteurs procèdent avec courtoisie, mais quand elle entre dans la salle de bains, une procureur femme la fouille au corps. Elle se voit confisquer son téléphone mobile et son passeport. «Les procureurs n’ont pas fait cela uniquement pour faire pression sur mon client. Ils ont probablement une raison, mais je ne sais pas laquelle», s’interroge Junichiro Hironaka. «Si le procureur dispose d’un mandat, il peut parfaitement saisir des affaires qui appartiennent à la famille de la personne arrêtée», explique la criminologue Kana Sasakura. Mais ce n’est pas tout: selon nos informations, les procureurs ont demandé également à Carole Ghosn de les suivre «volontairement» pour un interrogatoire. Junichiro Hironaka, qui avait accouru sur les lieux, l’en aurait dissuadée. Carole Ghosn reste au Japon. Seule.

Whisper Me A Love Song Episode 6 Review - Sunny Spot

Wait, what do you mean the long awaited song got drowned out by Yori’s voiced out thoughts? THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE EPISODE! What is this show thinking? Don’t get me wrong. I do like the cute YoriHima moments, but the original song, Sunny Spot, was supposed to be THE song that was going to make Himari fall for Yori, yet the execution was handled so poorly! YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE A BAND ANIME ALONGSIDE A YURI ANIME! Where is the song? Why can’t I hear it? This is so disappointing.

I think the only good thing about the episode was the YoriHima moments. They’re so freaking cute. I loved their little shopping date and how much of a simp Yori is for Himari. It was nice moment before the big day. Regarding the live concert, I get that Himari definitely fell hard because the song is called Sunny Spot, which is basically a translation of her name. The lyrics are all about how Yori feels about her sunny spot. Man, anyone would fall for Yori. I would do if I was in this anime. I was so happy when Himari finally understood that what she feels for Yori is love now. My only concern is if that’s the end for them. Since they got together now, what will happen now? The story does seem like it’s transitioning to a new arc now that Shiho is in the picture.

Poor Aki, she’s the friend-zoned best friend. She likes Yori, but she has to let go of her feelings for her as Yori loves Himari. It sucks, but that’s how some of these shows are. They make one character in a love triangle miserable as heck. I hope she gets a love interest of her own…which is probably going to be Shiho? I don’t know why, and I’m not a manga reader, but I do have this feeling that Aki and Shiho are going to get together. It’s a mix of pair the spares, but Shiho does look awfully hostile towards Yori. Given that she acknowledged Aki first when she showed up at the Student Council room, it could be that? Like Aki likes Yori, but since Shiho likes Aki, she had to distance herself because her feelings wouldn’t be mutual? Is it like that?

Speaking of Shiho, what is with her attitude? She seems a bit arrogant and calls Yori’s song average. Hun, I haven’t heard you sing. Also, Yori got a girl and you’re b*tchless. I wouldn’t be talking so arrogantly if I were you. To be fair, she’s set up to be a source of conflict and I like that. Her attitude is so different from the happy and peaceful vibes the other girls give off.  Since this is a band anime, there has to be drama as the music world is full of it. I’d like to know more about Shiho and why she quit SSGirls and if Aki has anything to do with it.

But yeah, the anticipated moment of the song was so disappointing. It’s seriously a waste to hire a singer for Yori’s singing voice and NOT have a long scene of her just singing. Kana Sasakura’s voice is lovely! Not using it is a waste for her to be casted! Not only that, the animation quality was quite poor with slideshows, powerpoint transition slides and stiff movements sprinkled thoroughly throughout this episode. Am I being a bit harsh towards this episode? Maybe, but I am a reviewer at the end of the day. It’s my job to praise things that need to be praised and criticize what needs to be criticized. I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t going to express my opinions on things. Anyways, if you watched this episode, I’d love to know your thoughts.

La justice japonaise accuse l'ex-président de Nissan d'«abus de confiance aggravé» : il aurait transféré à Nissan des pertes essuyées sur un investissement personnel en 2008.

«Le pire à Kosuge, c'était l'espoir déçu d'une libération prochaine», se souvient Masaru Sato. Cet ex-diplomate japonais a passé 512 jours en détention dans des conditions similaires à celles de Carlos Ghosn au début des années 2000. Et vendredi, l'architecte de l'Alliance Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi a dû passer par les mêmes émotions.

Selon toute vraisemblance, sa libération n'était plus qu'une question de jours, voire d'heures, jeudi soir. Le juge chargé de son cas venait de refuser au procureur de Tokyo la prolongation de sa garde à vue, à la stupéfaction générale: en 2017, 0,21% des demandes ont été rejetées. Déjà au petit matin, l'avocat du dirigeant, Motonari Otsuru, avait relayé les premières déclarations combatives de son client. Celui-ci promettait une conférence de presse, première étape pour «laver son honneur».

Mais, quelques heures plus tard, le procureur arrêtait Carlos Ghosn sur une nouvelle accusation, d'«abus de confiance aggravé»: il aurait transféré à Nissan des pertes essuyées sur un investissement personnel de 16,6 millions de dollars lors de la chute de la banque Lehman, en octobre 2008.

Ces charges sont plus sérieuses que celles qui avaient justifié sa première interpellation, le 19 novembre, sur le tarmac de l'aéroport de Tokyo-Haneda. Ces faits nouveaux sont normalement prescrits (le délai est de sept ans au Japon). Mais le procureur contourne l'obstacle en arguant que le temps passé à l'étranger ne compte pas dans le calcul. Carlos Ghosn risque la même peine que pour les charges précédentes: dix ans de prison avec travaux forcés et une amende de 10 millions de yens (78.400 euros). Il n'aurait pas nié les faits, mais l'argent aurait été transféré à nouveau sur son compte personnel une fois qu'il se serait aperçu du caractère illégal de l'opération.

«Carlos Ghosn n'est pas au bout de ses peines»

Greg Kelly, administrateur de Nissan et proche collaborateur de Carlos Ghosn, semble hors de cause dans ce nouveau dossier. Son avocat a déposé une demande de libération et il devrait être fixé sur son sort la semaine prochaine. Il souffre de maux de dos pour lesquels il avait prévu d'être opéré aux États-Unis avant son arrestation avec Carlos Ghosn. Il est possible que son état de santé précipite sa sortie.

Une nouvelle course judiciaire s'engage pour Carlos Ghosn. Cette arrestation gèle la demande de libération sous caution qu'il espérait décrocher jeudi soir dans le cadre de sa première mise en examen. Le même carrousel judiciaire recommence avec une nouvelle garde à vue, de dix jours, renouvelables.

«Pour que Carlos Ghosn sorte désormais, explique la criminologue Kana Sasakura, il faudrait d'abord qu'un juge refuse au procureur la demande de garde à vue pour cette nouvelle accusation ; puis que son avocat dépose une demande de liberté sous caution à propos de la première accusation. Il n'est donc pas au bout de ses peines.» Le procureur a perquisitionné le domicile tokyoïte de Carlos Ghosn vendredi devant les caméras du pays. Le ballet des voitures diplomatiques des ambassades brésilienne, libanaise et française -les trois nationalités de Carlos Ghosn- se poursuit à la prison de Kosuge, où elles coordonnent leurs visites.
