Okay. Alright. Here we fucking go again.
S2E4.
I already have one spoiler I'm completely unsurprised by, let's make it more.
I survive the LAST TIME ON HALO and my increasing desire to not be doing this right now, and am rewarded with one of this show's only endearing qualities: Vannak's ongoing animal guy personality trait. He gets to feed the pigeons for 2 seconds before the explosions start.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cut to Perez and Jimmy Rings running through the streets while Perez yells about having to get back to her family and Jimmy yells about how they're gone, Perez! (Also sorry I'm going back to calling him Jimmy Rings because I hate having to distinguish him from actual Chief and might as well do it in the most ridiculous way possible.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we immediately jump to Soren and Halsey in the funbox.
Tumblr media
Did you know that one of my least favorite things TV shows do is cliffhanger on a situation that could've been interesting, then ~subvert your expectations~ by making it completely uninteresting and resolving nothing?
Yeah.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gold star, no notes.
Then the power goes out.
Tumblr media
Soren just kinda leaves because the security system's off. Bye!!!
Tumblr media
Meanwhile again, Perez is very upset for obvious reasons and has a disagreement with Jimmy about what they should be doing. Jimmy wants to go back to FLEETCOM, while Perez wants to start warning everyone to evacuate RIGHT NOW.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Perez this isn't gonna work I'm sorry.
Tumblr media
Anyway.
Suddenly Stealth Elite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sorry it's so hard to get caps of these guys, I think the sfx people don't want you to look at 'em too close.
On the bright side, Halsey leaving with Soren shows they do have a chance of unlocking the comedy duo power I believed in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back again.
They're really trying to speedrun some shit here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like, this is so close to being in character (even though it isn't quite) but the problem is that they want to have this character say so much shit when the guy they have been trying so badly to emulate doesn't open up and it feels unearned/not worked up to. The problem with trying to crack open a character like the actual Master Chief is that it requires a ton of space and focus on doing that, and this project is so full of subplots and has scrapped so much of its own first season that it has even LESS time to develop enough rapport for me to not feel like I'm being hit over the head. Like I get it, I write insane shit with Chief trying to figure out how to communicate with people after he's decided he might be okay with it, but this just doesn't work for me.
This could work, but it kinda came in from the factory pre-bungled.
Anyway.
Jimmy Rings walking around this random building they're escaping through while holding a fucking axe he found is so funny to me.
Tumblr media
Speaking of the axe, it's apparently an antique!!! And this random building is a shop belonging to a British lady and, suddenly, we are going full WWII stiff-upper-lip blitz speech.
Fuck, hold on, I need another post for full effect-

how long would you say you've actively shipped any of your favorite ships? - im curious specifically about sorvus, sorpeli, and claudiez
I wouldn't say Sorvus is one of my faves even if I do 1) love Soren and Corvus individually, 2) Corvus is one of my favourite side characters in the whole show (like top 5) and 3) I do really like them! That being said:
Canon
For the bulk of TDP ships, canon-wise, I shipped them as their relationships were revealed (aka Harrow/Sarai with the info we got in S1, Claudia/Terry with the info we get in S4, Runaan/Ethari back when he was known as 'Tinker' thanks to the S1 credit sketch, etc).
For Janaya, I shipped them from the first time they met in S2, since "rival intellectually and physically matched generals on the battlefield" along with both being very pretty is a decently long-ish homoerotic trend in literature (aka a production I saw of "Coriolanus" really leaned in on it, although I think I saw that pre-S2's release. Applies though)
For Rayllum, I shipped them pre-show even if I was also down to brotp them. They'd be travelling together, thus having plenty of time to develop an interesting dynamic / were around the same age, and the screencap released before the premiere of them sitting under the tree (Callum, distracted but eager, and Rayla, exasperated and fond) really drew me in since that's a ship type - dynamic and gender wise (I don't tend to love ships where the guy is the more grumpy/guarded one, I think, since women are so often forced to do More of the emotional labour in relationships Anyway) - I'm already Very susceptible to. I tried to hold off a little bit in early S1 cause I didn't want to ship them too hard, but then 1x05 came along with the boat scene and it was Over for me. They've had my heart ever since (5 years going on forever)
Requested Rarepairs
Sorvus
So I didn't really ship Sorvus (although I was never opposed to them) for the majority of the time post-S3. I didn't really ship Soren with anyone and preferred Gren/Corvus at that time (due to their personalities / closer dynamic to Amaya and therefore each other) as well as enjoying Corvus/Opeli. However I was also really hoping that Corvus would stay on the council/with Ezran, and figured that if Soren was going to end up with anyone, Corvus was probably the most realistic choice (shared goals, decent development, timeskip to help things, similar ages).
That said I still didn't actively ship them (like I didn't mind them but was completely impassive/neutral y'know?) until I wrote an interaction between them in "if heaven and hell decide" (a canon divergent S2 where Claudia and Soren decide to delay their betrayal of the trio, and therefore travel with them for much longer) and the fact that Corvus would see Soren at his worst in canon (S2) but also see and appreciate who Soren was becoming... I started to turn a corner and grew to ship them a lot more. I'm really excited for them to eventually be canon, it seems, even if they're not My Endgame for either character In My Head for years-post war, at least for now.
Claudiez
For aged up Claudia/Ezran, I think this post (dated July 2021) was when I started to ship these two. There was something about the interplay of Claudia telling Callum about Harrow's death, but he only seeks out comfort from Rayla, and Ezran rejecting Rayla's offered comfort about Harrow and instead accepting it from Claudia, that felt very apt to me? And then a couple weeks later I wrote my formal "I actually do ship Claudiez and here's why" meta so it's been a few years now!
Both the younger sibling uniquely given their father's mantle to carry in ways their older brother just doesn't have to; Ezran being connected to all nature while Claudia continually perverts it, thus Ezran having the relationship to nature that she needs to learn/acquire for her own healing additionally; they both see the throne as a tool to help and breaking their fathers' cycles with each other; the childhood friends to enemies to friends to lovers of an according slow burn because of said age gap; ending up as Queen of Katolis but not the way her father imagined and ending up with one of the brothers, just not the one everyone previously expected; Ezran getting to grow up and into his own and assert his independence and choices (no matter what his brother thinks about it), etc. I also think personality wise they suit each other - Terry's parallels to Ezran in personality are some of the reasons I think Clauderry works at least as a short term pairing.
It's also kinda perfect bc, since they'd only get together like 10-15 years post the end of the show Anyway, so like. they're Endgame to me no matter what and there's nothing canon can really do about it, #improvise adapt overcome.
Sorpeli
This probably started out as the truest crack ship because it started as a joke of like, Soren flirting with her at 20 and easy to dismiss and then again when he's 30 and Opeli is like "I deserve a little fun," so they start having a physical fling, and then catch feelings (Soren falls first, she falls harder). The earliest post I have for them is from May 6th 2023 but I know realistically I'd probably shipped them for a lot longer (what can I say, younger men not being put off my older women aging bc society is bullshit, and contrasting personalities + devoted man & woman who feels undeserving will always get me) before I ever had mind to say anything. Then I dragged @jelzorz into it and the rest, they say, is history. So like 1.5 years at least now?
I'd probably be even more into Sorpeli than I already am but I'm not unconvinced that Opeli won't die (I really hope she doesn't, but I do understand how it could benefit Ezran's narrative in particular) but like if all seasons pass by and she's alive? Canon crack quartet with Endgame Rayllum, Claudiez, Sorpeli, and CorTerry is a go <3
TLDR;
Rayllum before the show started, Janaya in S2, everything else when the ships got introduced, then next we have Claudiez (July 2021), Sorvus (casually since Oct 2021), and Sorpeli (late 2022/early 2023).

Are people who think Shinon is racist but still like him safe from your wrath? :0 I do not wish to be smitten by the wrath of JD!
Of course! The difference is that the plain ol' haters are the ones who see nothing but "he's racist". They don't consider all the other aspect of him and don't care to. He IS racist, and primarily at the beginning of PoR. My issue is when people refuse to acknowledge he gets better about it even if he's never perfect about it.
There are people who won't even acknowledge his development and act like he's nothing but a racist jerk with zero actual character or consider why he acts like an asshole. I see comments like "he's just a racist asshole" and that's extremely misleading for anyone getting into these games not already knowing who he is. It paints a certain expectation over him that people are more likely to feed into because it's the first thing they heard, which is also super unfortunate that people don't think for themselves, but sadly as we know, media literacy is dead... and with Shinon, it always has been.
I've known people who don't like him but are able to recognize that "he's racist" is not the only trait he has. Soren is racist too, but imagine if I went around saying it's the only trait he has aside from being an asshole? Because frankly, yes, Soren is a racist asshole. I love him and he's one of my favorites in Tellius, but Soren is inarguably worse about it than Shinon is because he only tries to be more polite toward laguz for someone else (i.e. Ike, not even a laguz) rather than getting better through his own relationships with laguz or just in general growing as a person.
And look how beloved he is by the fandom. The same fandom that will smite Shinon for the same issue. And you know why? Because he doesn't like Ike. Because he's not queer coded enough. Because he's not the "gay twink" in love with another male. Soren only gets past it and people overlook it because he's mlm representation, whereas Shinon's mlm representation needs a magnifier (and even then he's not a standard macho straight man in any regard).
Soren gets away with it and gets away with actually having almost attacked Mordecai (not even Lethe, and even I was pissed off by Lethe in that scene lol but no way in hell could ever condone attacking Mordecai). Shinon doesn't... ever actually raise a weapon to his allies. Him and Janaff quite mutually threaten to whack each other and then both stand down.
Shinon and Janaff are extremely similar, including that Janaff was and still kind of is racist at that time in PoR, but since he's a laguz and racist toward the big bad humans, he gets away with it (same reason Reyson, Tibarn and Ulki never get called out for it in the fandom! And because they're uwu cool characters "who got better". Yeah, you know what I'm about to say to that).
My problem is when people just look at him and reduce him to a horrible trait and refuse to acknowledge he's... really not that bad, because a really bad person would not want to get better. They would not want to acknowledge they're wrong in any capacity. Shinon struggles, but he improves. His racism is based on ignorance (and from not meeting a laguz properly prior and not having laguz allies), and once that ignorance is proven wrong, he starts to get better (and that's why I clamor on and on about how important his supports with Janaff are).
Most people who leave hateful comments abt him (especially in tags about him) are the ones who base his entire character on racism alone and nothing else. If you did that to the gay twink Soren, the fandom would beat you down for it and probably call you homophobic to boot!
Also, a bit of a side tangent, but...
I also hate the Bitch Ass Stupid meme of Claude and Shinon, with the whole CEO of ending racism and CEO of racism, because actually no, I think they'd have very interesting interactions. I think Claude would want to understand where this perception comes from and work to improve it, because Shinon is very loving and very much a protector parent type (between both Rolf and the GMs as a whole).
To see someone like that have so much hate for a race he doesn't even know or understand would probably be confusing to Claude and even be personal to him. I think he'd want to understand the problem and try to help improve it both for the laguz and for Shinon. I do not at all think he'd hate Shinon if he actually knew Shinon. I think he'd see an ally in him who could be even more amazing if he could get past those bad habits and that ignorance.
Claude's whole character arc is to try to get good people to understand other races, not to hate those people and turn them away (or he would've left Fodlan a long time ago when he realized how fucking racist Leicester as a whole was, regardless of "whose fault" it is, which is another discussion in itself). I think the two of them would have a lot to talk about and a lot of introspection together.
So yeah, tl;dr, if you recognize Shinon is written as a person with flaws and not just one bad trait while willfully ignoring every single blatant positive aspect of him, you're fine lol. It's the people who purposely wall themselves off from seeing anything else about his character and hating him not for who he is, but because of one single trait that plenty of other characters either exhibit at some point in the story (Naesala is a big one, but he's another fandom beloved so he gets away with it, and he's not a big bad human), with one of them being Soren himself.
And yes, I recognize Soren has trauma. That's another discussion for another post, but fact is, even despite knowing good people and knowing Ike's perception, he does not in fact ever get that much better. Shinon gets past him in that regard if you've seen all his content, which I've written about in depth. Soren uses the term "laguz" for Ike's sake, because need I remind you, he refers to them as "sub-humans" before Ike actually knows about them. He does not bother correcting Shinon in the forest in chapter six because he does not want to - because he agrees with it (he refers to them as laguz one time in that conv iirc as the "it's the more neutral/proper term", but not as the "this is my preference" term). He only begins to correct himself when Ike gets pissed off at him. That's not growth - that's a selfish and personal reason to do it and one he felt forced to have to do to keep Ike happy and not angry at him.
And would you look at that, Soren has an entire character outside of that.
Well I'll be.
GUESS SHINON MUST TOO.
tl;dr you're safe bby.
I'm not even read more-ing this. For reasons you all already know.

i finished radiant dawn last night and it was so fun and i'm really glad i played on emulator because enemy phase would have taken years off my life if i had to sit through it. i have a lot of thoughts in my brain and i'm gonna try and spit a few of them out in this post. there are spoilers for fe9 and fe10 ahead!
first off i really can't wait for both tellius games to get remakes because they are so inaccessible to anyone who doesn't want to or can't emulate it because they are both well over $200 for no reason, and i think these are games that all fe fans should play. i am a firm believer that fe4 should get a remake first tho.
elincia is 100% a new fav fe character for me, i liked her in fe9 and i liked her development but there where other characters i liked more. in fe10 she was taken to a whole new level, despite being so short part two did such a good job of showing how hard it has been for her to be a ruler in a nation that she still has to prove herself to. i loved that you get to see her mess up in handling the rebellion early but in the end doing right by her people in letting them execute lucia instead of releasing ludveck. my absolute favorite thing from her was in part three when the senator is trying to fight gallia on crimea's land, and elincia shows up to the fight puts herself in between the two armies and drops her sword and stops zelgius from fighting, it was so cool seeing her go from being so uncertain as a queen to putting her life at risk to try and stop fighting.
i overall liked the gameplay and i had lots of fun messing with bonus exp and trading skills around, the laguz royals where such a blast to watch them destroy whole maps whenever you get to use them. i liked most of the maps, i really like it when fe has green units have full battles that the player doesn't need to get involved in because it makes the maps feel more chaotic (part three endgame my beloved). i didn't like most of part four or endgame as much as the rest of the game. i liked the fact that part four felt like an uphill battle with infinite reinforcements buuut i really don't like infinite reinforcements on route maps and that is most of part 4. the endgame maps where cool in concept but it is so easy to get screwed over at multiple parts of it that i can't fully commit to liking it. i don't like that several of the bosses have super long range attacks that kill units like micaiah and mist in one round it never felt like something that would be able to predict without constantly resetting. the best endgame map was 3 because i got to do this to my kurthnaga
Tumblr media
last thing i wanna talk about on this post bc it is getting really long is ike. i really like ike and soren and i will forever headcanon ike as homoromantic ace and no one can stop me because i'm right.

Rereading through my Maximum Ride manga
And this whole story really did feel like a 13 year old wattpad fic writer just making things up as they went along despite James Patterson being a continuously best selling author from what I understand jcdkmsmsmss
That being said-! The reason I went back is because I remember my key/positive memories about it only being about Ari cause he was my favorite character and would actually become a big inspo in developing Soren’s character lol (images read from left to right btw!)

as a disclaimer, while these are the (romantic) ships that i am most interested in for my muses, this does not mean i will ship with every version of these muses, nor does it mean that i won't ship things that are not listed. if you want to know if i ship something else, shoot me a message and we can discuss it!
bold = favorite ships! these are usually ships that are canon or have significant canon support. (these are usually fine to send shippy memes without prior discussion.)
italics = ships that i am currently writing with other partners, but am open to writing with duplicates!
**starred** = ships which i am extremely selective about. these will require both extensive out-of-character discussion and in-character development, but they're ships i very much enjoy when done well!
strike through = ships i am currently writing with other people and am not looking to ship with duplicates.

This post might be incoherent. I’m very tired but I love media analyzing and my brain is all FE all the time right now.
So, instead of restarting Silver Snow again, I decided to pop Engage back in. Mechanically, there are things I really like about Engage. The Ring system and inheriting skills is nice, chain guarding is a good feature, and I like the addition of daggers, arts, and chain attacks. I have been missing combat arts, but I feel like mechanically it balances out because of the rings.
THERE BE SPOILERS FOR 3H AND ENGAGE BELOW
My preference of Three Houses really stems from the story. Surprisingly, I don’t mean the heaviness of Three Houses vs the cheesy anime nature of Engage, but in the breathing room you get in 3H. Like, Alear doesn’t get a second to really breathe and have any real bonding time with Lumera, while you really get a chance to understand Jeralt and Byleth’s relationship. You get to see Jeralt’s lies begin to catch up to him, how despite his misgivings with Rhea, he’s happy to see Byleth actually enjoying new life as a professor. Meanwhile Engage is really hamfisted with “wow I can’t wait to spend time with my mom! We have so much to do togethe-- aaaand she’s dead D:” like... right away. Despite the VAs really going in with Lumera’s death scene, it’s not nearly as impactful as Jeralt’s because we barely know Lumera. Is her quick death intentional in order for the reveal that she isn’t even Alear’s mom be more surprising? Probably.
Also the plot thickens so fast in Engage. We’re balls deep in the war right away. The corrupted are right there immediately after waking up. Alear has no breathing room. Meanwhile Byleth really gets a chance to settle in and become close with the other units before shit hits the fan. Like after the tutorials, everything is a sprinkle of information in 3H that builds up on new information bit by bit, or sets up something to parallel after the time skip. Meanwhile the story of Engage feels hollow, the antagonists lack concrete motivation, and each chapter moreso feels like a vessel to introduce a new ring and provide fanservice. Yet I think that’s the point. Engage isn’t about the story, it’s about loving the series as a whole and, even though a lot of the new characters look neat and are plenty likable, it’s not so much about them. It’s about the nostalgia and providing likable foils to old characters.
I mean, I like Shadow Dragon more than most fans do, and that has less story than Engage to dissect, so who am I to fault Engage on this front?
Okay, this is where I admit I’m a bad fan. I have never played 4-10. Shadow Dragon was my first game, since my gateway into the series was being a Marth main in Melee as a kid. From there I did play 1-3, then New Mystery, and Awakening. After that I played every game more or less upon release. Love seeing Celica and Tiki. I’m good with Corrin, but I don’t like Camilla. She icks me. I like seeing Lucina, and I get a real kick out of Chrom and Robin being in the same bracelet. The house leaders sharing a bracelet doesn’t thrill me as much, and I have no attachment to M!Byleth. Now that I’ve seen more bond conversations, I’m more okay with Marth being how he is. He’s so complimentary of everyone and thinks every character is deserving of all the support and praise, and yeah, that checks.
Point being, my connection to all the other characters isn’t as established. Not to say I dislike them, in fact I really want to go back and play the other games because I really find myself liking Lyn and Soren quite a bit. It’s just that the fanservice feels more hollow, and that’s what Engage is. It sacrifices plot and unit character development because the game serves as a vessel for platforming old favorites. It’s a sampler platter of elements from the whole series.
I guess my conclusion is that it’s really hard to fully compare Engage and Three Houses because they were made to accomplish two very different things despite being from the same franchise, and both succeed on what they’re trying to do. Engage is happy friendship unity and good triumphing over evil. Three Houses, well, who is evil? Who is good? Do right and wrong choices even exist in this game? Not really. There’s a good reason to do every route but decisions in every route that are flawed.
I’m just happy neither game has child units and having to pair every character together. It worked in Awakening, but man was it a drag in Fates.

OMG UR A TPD LIKER?? UR AMAZING!!
WHOS UR FAV CHARACTER J NEED TO KNOW. NEIW!!!!
YES… a few years ago tdp was actually my main interest, i was absolutely OBSESSED with the show. i still really love it and i think the plot and characters are very well-written !!
the thing is… it’s so good that i love all of the characters so much, it’s genuinely impossible for me to pick a favorite. i love ezran, callum, and rayla a lot, but i also love a lot of the other side characters like soren, amaya, janai, harrow, runaan, ethari, etc. and then in s4 they added terry (who’s great!) and claudia and viren developed even more (i think they’re the most interesting characters in the show). but every character seems like they have a ‘place’ in the story, and they all seem important in their own ways i think?
do you have any favorites? 👀

My thoughts about Centaurworld season 2
I loved it. It was amazing. But here's the thing, the reason behind that is finale itself. I had similar feelings about Dragon Prince season 3 where the opening was strong, the finale was stunning but the middle was just okay. And this is exactly what happens here.
So yeah. Spoilers.
The first thing I noticed while watching it - the animation feels even... cartoonier. It's a good thing and I loved all of those over the top expressions. The another thing is sadly a downgrade - songs. Those songs aren't as memorable as those from season 1. And there's the pacing.
Let's start with something easy. The first season was amazing, we knew what was going to happen early on - Horse needs to find pieces of the key, so we have the plot for five episodes. And this is quite important. We have exact informations we need to know how long it will take to meet our protagonist's goal. That was lacking in the season 2. It's not a bad thing, but the first season finale set expectations about the war but the whole war thing was extremally short, I wouldn't mind if the show told me early on how many Centaur species they need. That would set up the expectations correctly. Because it feels like the whole gathering up an army took way too much screentime while comparing to how long the whole war part actually was. Of course I really love those episodes and yet I didn't enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed the first season. And this is when my comparison to The Dragon Prince comes back. Because the whole middle section of the third season felt so... pointless. It felt like it all was just to kickstart Soren's character development but the whole season dragged on for eternity but the finale was worth it. And here it happened again. But I'll leave my favorite part for the end.
One of the strenghts of this season was how much it had with introduction of all of those centaurs. Horsetaurs, trashtaurs, birdtaurs, coldtaurs and more holetaurs and how unique all of them were. It was pure fun and I absolutely loved all of the holetaurs and how all of them were stupidly bureaucratic and couldn't agree on anything but the music. It's stupid I love that.
My biggest disappointment was how little amount of screentime the Rider got before the finale. I would love to explore Rider's dynamics with the herd, especially her relation with Wammawink could be interesting. And also Stabby that could've given us a bit more insight into the Nowhere King's army. It would make the Last Lullaby pt. 2 more heartbreaking. And yet I understand why that didn't happen. They were suppose to be together after the war, so yeah it wasn't exactly the bad direction, it's just a matter of preferences.
Battle Rounds on the other hand might be my favorite scene in the show. I just loved to see all of those wacky characters facing the enemy in their own wacky cartoony way. It was so much fun. Glendale with coldtaurs, Zulius and Splendib, Ched with a lance, Durpleton with Stabby, Wammawink protecting her found family and Horse with Rider just watching the whole battlefield, unable to do anything. And he background music makes all of this better. It starts with Horse and Rider and the background music is Horse's part of Fragile Things, then we see Wammawink and her part of Fragile Things is added, then we see Glendale and Breathe in the Bag is added, then with Durpleton and Stabby Please sir is added, then I don't know him with Splendib and Zulius and then My favorite part of the day with Ched. There's so much going on. It the battle and everybody's fighting at the same time and music helps to encaptulate this. It's a chaos and yet there's a strange sense of harmony in that. I really like this whole sequence.
The finale was stunning on so many levels and it made this a bit too long journey so much satisfying. I'll start with that - I hate sympathetic villains. At least recently. I've seen so many villains that turned out to be just misunderstood abused child. Like I give fuck. They murdered thousands of people. But I love how japanese writers portray their villains. As two sides of the same coin. Is a really neat writing technique that helps to show both similarities and contrast between characters. And I need to say that I adore the fact that we don't know names of so many characters (it makes tagging painful ngl and yet I love that) because in the grand scale of things we don't need to know their names. It's irrelevant. No names. No attachment. Amazing. Both General and Nowhere King, and I need to remind all of you that the General was probably an actual king (he married a princess so yeah), are two halves of the same person. One of them succeds and the other one loses. And this is when the coin technique shines. Because it shows how the same person would react to both scenarios. If he wins, he's willing to sacrifice everything to hold onto that success. You think he wouldn't kill anyone who would try to come too close to his wife? Of course he would. He was about to kill himself. And now let's think about the other part, about the Nowhere King. He's the guy that lost. As a loser he never accepts his defeat and it consumes him. With the bitterness slowly consuming him to the point he wanted to start over, to return to the form he was born with. Because he just couldn't accept the fact that he lost. He could've just returned to the Centaurworld and lived happy life knowing that the woman he loved fell in love with him, kinda, with someone that would love her dearly. But it wasn't him who won. You think that he wouldn't just stay in human world and stare at the princess if she chose other guy instead of him? Of coure he would. That's the point. The error of his ways shows up in the Last Lullaby pt. 1 when the Princess says "Don't you know I would've loved you the way you were whole?". This is his emotional core that shows that he never was honset with the woman he loved, he never asked. Her feelings were irrelevant to him. And no matter what would happen to him, he would always show his true colors. This bitterness that would always consume those around him. And I was honestly terrified that they will redeem him. But I'm so glad they didn't. Both sides of the elktaur were cruel and ruthless. One of them caused a war that costed countless lives and the other was ready to allow thi war to drag on forever, because it would also allow him to live longer, even if that means killing someone who was about to kill the other him. That kind of evil is irreedemable and I find his death so satisfying. I love how during the Last Lullably pt. 1 he actually agrees that she should kill him. That's actually a really good writing and more sympathetic villains should meet this fate. Not the redemption death, not redemption arc, just the death after the realisation that this is what they deserve.
Overall I really liked the season, I was expecting this season to be less episodic after the first one so I should blame my personal preferences for expecting this season to be more serialized but oh boi I loved how it ended. I love how both Horse and Rider finally got their family and now all of them can finally live a peaceful life.

For the ask thing, 001 for The Dragon Prince, 002 for Smellershot, and 003 for Rayla
001 | Send me a fandom and I will tell you my:
The Dragon Prince
Favorite character: Soren. By a longshot, it's Soren.
Least Favorite character: Probably Sol Regem. Yeah, he looks cool as fuck - he also strikes me as, objectively speaking, an absolute prick.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Soren/Nyx, Janaya, Gremaya, Rayllum, Marcos/Sabah
Character I find most attractive: Janai (full disclosure: I originally watched the show cause I thought Janai was hot), Amaya
Character I would marry: In a heartbeat, Janai or Amaya.
Character I would be best friends with: Soren, possibly Callum, too.
a random thought: You know what I keep thinking about? Viren's line from episode 2(?)," It's time to be the man he thinks I am." I just...keep thinking about that. About the way Viren said it. It felt almost like he was steeling himself, almost like a goodbye, of sorts. It's been in the back of my mind since I rewatched the show a month or two ago.
An unpopular opinion: Now that I think about it, I'm not sure what the unpopular opinions of the fandom really are. Is it an unpopular opinion to say that Rayllum isn't the best ship to have ever been shipped and that there's more to the show than just that? Probably. I'll go with that.
My Canon OTP: ...well, Rayllum is my favorite of the canon ships, so...Rayllum, I guess? They're not my OTP for the fandom, though.
My Non-canon OTP: Soren/Nyx (this is my OTP for this fandom).
Most Badass Character: Ezran. Kid literally finds a dragon egg, persuades an assassin and his half-brother into a basically impossible quest, rides a giant ass banther, talks to dragons, takes up a crown, then loses it only to rally an alliance to depose a horrible king and save an elven army and the slumbering queen of the dragons, the archenemies of his family, ending a thousand-year-old war. What about that is not badass?
Most Epic Villain: Is this even a question? Aaravos.
Pairing I am not a fan of: Runaan/Ethari. I have nothing wrong with it, I just genuinely don't care for it.
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Hmm. I don't really feel that the writers have screwed up any characters, so far, actually. They've been pretty consistent with characterization and character development, and I really appreciate it.
Favourite Friendship: Soren and Pyrrah. They're best friends and no one will tell me otherwise.
Character I most identify with: Probably Soren.
Character I wish I could be: Uhhhhhh...I guess Marcos? I wish I had his courage and conviction, to stand with his principles and loyalties even when an entire kingdom is arrayed against him. I really admire that, and I hope that I have even a tenth of the courage Marcos had.
------
002 | Send me a ship and I will tell you:
Smellershot
When I started shipping them: I...could not tell you. It didn't take me too long to start shipping them, though; maybe like a month after I joined the fandom back in 2020?
My thoughts: They're severely underappreciated. Incredibly soft and fluffy, but ripe with amazing opportunity for angst and heartbreak, as well as stories about the sides of the war that we didn't get to see, the darker side, the smaller side, the side that ordinary kids and not royals and nobility and Avatars are part of. They're just...regular people, and I think there's something powerful in that. Sort of showing that even in the depths of hell, you can still find love.
What makes me happy about them: They were able to find a measure of peace and love when everything around them was burning to the ground. They're each others' safe space, and I love the warm, wholesome feel of that.
What makes me sad about them: Their lives mean they really don't know when the end will come so they have to live fast, but they really...they really have a "will they, won't they?" kind of thing going on, in my opinion, for a long time, so there's a chance they never, ever get to that point before one of them is gone.
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: They get relegated to a side-ship, and I hate seeing that. Also, they just...
Things I look for in fanfic: That they show up in a fic period. Even as a sideship. Seriously. I'll take whatever crumbs I can.
My wishlist: The only thing on my wishlist for this ship is that fandom sees how beautiful of a ship it really is. It's wholesome, and sweet, and just brilliant.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: For Longshot, Ty Lee would be my number 1 choice, followed by Mai. For Smellerbee, I think Toph would be a good partner. I could also see Jet, but I'm a little hesitant about that one. (I'll admit I have a hard time thinking of other people to ship Smellerbee with.)
My happily ever after for them: They retire to a peaceful little village in what becomes the United Republic, far removed from politics in war, have a kid of their own, and turn their house into a foster home or refuge of sorts for local orphans and troubled kids.
------
003 | Give me a character & I will tell you:
Rayla
How I feel about this character: Two things I really enjoy in fantasy media: badass elves, and swords. Rayla is/has both. That's all I needed to like her in the first place, but what got me to really fall in love is that, to paraphrase The Wheel of Time, she's a hero who insists with every breath and everything she is that she's not. That, in my opinion, makes her even better. She's heroic, but humble, and even after everything refuses to give up her humanity.
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Callum, obviously. And honestly? I kinda think it would interesting to see an enemies-to-lovers arc with Claudia. It would be a disaster of a ship but it would be so cool.
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character:
My unpopular opinion about this character: Actually I don't really think I have one of these. Weird. Normally I can find at least one, but...I'm drawing a blank.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: She gets buddy-buddy with Soren and becomes a training partner/confidant. Honestly, they both need someone they can relate to, and I think, as strange as it might sound, they'd be able to fill that role for each other.
Favorite friendship for this character: Her and Ezran. Big sister/younger brother vibes for them and I love it so much.
My crossover ship: I got nothin', here. Although I did, when I was looking back for another ask about Rayla I did once, see a fanart once of her impersonating a Kyoshi Warrior next to Suki and I am...now having an idea form.

Hi...how are you? If you don't mind me asking who are your favorite siblings' relationship in anime/movies/tv series? Sorry if you've answered this question before......
Hello!
Here is my list in no particular order.
1) Nina and Johan (Monster)
Tumblr media
Their relationship is very interesting and complicated and it basically deconstructs the bond between twins and the trope of the good twin and evil twin (which is what makes it acceptable for my friend @hamliet <3<3<3).
The two twins were never treated as children and as a result they developed an extremely frail sense of self and kind of a symbiotic relationship. In particular, Johan decided to become Nina’s coping mechanism, a sort of living Jungian Shadow of her. The result is a disaster and the two siblings ended up hurting each other.
Still, their recovery goes through uncovering their shared past and the past they do not share. It is a path of self-discovery and forgiveness.
2) Zuko and Azula (ATLA)
Tumblr media
Theirs is a tragic bond. They are two abused children who turn into two troubled teenagers. They are pitted one against the other by their abuser and in the end they are not able to overcome how their upgringing has shaped their relationship (at least in the show proper).
They are also two different answers to abuse and even if just Zuko is able to change for the better, Azula is still shown empathy.
In particular, they have opposite problems when it comes to their feelings. Zuko’s feelings explode and this is why he lacks control of his fire. Azula instead represses all her feelings to have perfect control. However, in the end it is necessary to aknowledge one’s emotions and to face them to truly reach harmony.
3) Soren and Claudia (The Dragon Prince)
Tumblr media
In my opinion, Soren and Claudia (together with their father Viren) are the two best written characters in the series (as for now) and the main reason I got invested in it.
Soren and Claudia’s bond is one of mutual affection and trust. However, it is being challenged by the toxic influence their father has on both. They both risk to lose themselves to the flaws they very clearly inherited from Viren. Moreover, their different reactions to their father’s spiral has created a rift between them.
I love how they are both shown at their best and at their lowest points because of that same trait that, if well balanced can save them. Soren risks to lose himself to the desire to prove he is a good royal guard. Still, later on is that same desire that leads him to make the right thing. Claudia is his inversion. She is shown doing the right thing out of love, but then she spirals for that same love.
Still, I think that in the end they will be there for each other.
4) Krel and Aja (Tales of Arcadia)
Tumblr media
Krel and Aja’s arcs are powerful and complementary. They both start thinking they are meant to be what the other will become in the end.
Krel starts as more responsible towards his role as Prince and shows disdain and discrimination towards Earthlings.
Aja initially wants to run away from her role and enjoys her normal life on Earth.
However, by the end Krel is the one who discovers himself through his relationships on Earth, while Aja finds herself a queen.
It is this paralleled and inverted structure together with the siblings’ complementarity and the strong bond they share that make them such good protagonists.
5) Hargreeves siblings (The Umbrella Academy)
Tumblr media
They are all disasters and this is why their family is the best.
I love how after years spent avoiding each other, they still very clearly love each other and see each other as family. Despite being already adults, they are all still children when the story begins and they need to face each other to heal and truly grow.
I also like how each sibling has their own well defined personality and how each bond is different.
Luther and Diego have a rivalry.
Allison is everyone’s big sis and Luther’s love interest.
Vanya is estranged from everyone, but she develops a strong bond with Allison and is shown to get along with Five.
Five adores all his siblings, but often does not care for their individual needs.
Klaus is loved, but also underestimated by the others and he shares a special bond with Ben.
All in all, the family dynamic is very well flashed out and I think this is why the show works so well.
6) Zoldyck siiblings (HxH)
Tumblr media
I love love love the Zoldyck Family and I love how all the other four siblings clearly foil Killua aka one of the MC. His two older brothers are who Killua must not become (an assassin like Illumi or dependent and unable to leave home like Milluki). Kalluto and Alluka are instead who Killua needs to save from the family. At the same time, Alluka, Kalluto, Milluki and Illumi all foil each other or have the potential to do so. They are all pretty different people and their dynamics are dysfunctional, but also entertaining to watch.
7) Schneeblings (RWBY)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This trio’s dynamic might be less central to their series than the other examples. Still, they are all pretty flashed out and their interactions are funny to watch.
The Schnee siblings have all reacted differently to their abusive environment. Still, they all share a warm heart behind a cold exterior. It is telling that they all work together to save Atlas and it is telling they all break free from their abusive home life also because of the others.
Winter inspires Weiss to leave and Weiss inspires Whitley to use his power for good. They make a virtuous chain of sibling love.
8) Kirishima siblings (TG)
Tumblr media
Ayato and Touka’s backstory is one of my favourite parts of TG. It is interesting to see how they both changed in ways that turned them into their antithesis, but that are also consistent with the personalities they show as small children.
It is heartbreaking to see how close they were as children and how much they have grown apart as teenagers. Still, their bond remains strong and they still clearly love each other. Touka used to protect Ayato as a child and Ayato is trying to protect Touka now that he has grown. Still, he goes at it in the worst way possible.
SPECIAL MENTION: The Gandor brothers (Claire included) from Baccano! I just love how surreal their interactions are!
Thank you for the ask!

I haven't heard of little big planet in years, mind if I ask about 'em?
Okay so basically the Favorites are 8 fictional characters that exist in my paracosm (think of it as an OC verse but more complicated) as a godlike superhero team. There are many many many things which tie them into the lore of the paracosm proper and explaining them all would take me a lot of time, but basically:
They are clones of their "headcanon" versions
They have regenerative immortality and cannot completely die
They have titles composed of two parts: their Class and their Form
The Class is basically the thing that ties them and the Archetypes, ancient powerful entities from the holy book of the precursors that can possess things and have unknown goals
The Form is sort of like their element, and their powers are mostly things associated with their Form
They each have 2 enchanted weapons: one melee and one ranged
They each have a symbolic codename
They aren't the only ones that were like this, technically speaking. There have been 499 other Councils of Favorites before them.
Also they have a year and a half of character development (technically more in Soren's case) behind them.
In case you're curious what the team composition is, it's as follows:
Wainwright Del Frisco Jakobs-Hammerlock, Heir of Force (Ring) from Borderlands
Soren [REDACTED], Builder of Ability (Hand) from Minecraft Story Mode
Fiddleford Hadron McGucket-Pines, Prophet of Vision (Eye) from Gravity Falls
Sir Alistair Hammerlock-Jakobs, Hunter of Cunning (Edge) from Borderlands
Simon Petrikov, Monarch of Authority (Crown) from Adventure Time
Dr. W. D. Gaster, Scholar of Destruction (Void) from Undertale
Stanford Filbrick Pines, Traveller of Creation (Space) from Gravity Falls
Newton Pud, Inventor of Wisdom (Lantern) from Little Big Planet

rayla’s emotions are like a breaking bottle: a character analysis
its 2 am and im bored LET’S TALK ABOUT OUR FAVORITE ASSASSIN GIRL WHO NEEDS THERAPY
warning: there will be ttm spoilers, b cautious!
so in this random analysis, i will be analyzing rayla’s actions through the show and through the moon, and also how she deals with her emotions in tdp.
how she deals with emotions
the second she’s introduced, we see her empathy. that’s literally her introduction, not killing marcos. we then meet the other assassins, and over the course of the show we learn more and more about moonshadow elves. they’re probably the elves with the most worldbuilding besides sunfire elves.
the show makes it clear that moonshadow elves do not let any emotions be shown, especially fear. they’re cold and mysterious and meant to be strong warriors and sneaky assassins.
but rayla’s different, having empathy for humans. it seems that most moonshadow elves bottle their emotions just fine, but it effects rayla deeply. when she does try to keep her emotions bottled, the bottle eventually gets fuller and fuller and then it shatters, leading to outbursts and irritability. she keeps her emotions close to her and isn’t vulnerable at all which leads to herself suffering.
of course, she’s getting much better at this. leaving her strict moonshadow “no fear shown” lifestyle and callum probably helping her be more open, she’s much  more vulnerable with people she trusts. we see this in the beginning of TTM, where she talks to callum about her “big feelings”. we actually see this many times over the course of the comic, and it’s awesome character development.
...and then the ending happens, and we are left with a very interesting plotline intertwined with someone else’s.
she has left callum and the dragang to go hunt down viren, which means she has nobody to be vulnerable with. she’ll probably go back to holding her emotions close to her.
because here’s the thing: she very clearly only shares her emotions with callum. we do see in ttm that she talks to soren about runaan and shares SOME of her feelings about it, but truthfully, she only really lets out her big feelings with callum, the person she’s closest with. but now, she’s on her own. no callum, no outlet.
speaking of her doing what she did at the ending of ttm, let’s talk about that and her reasoning.
her reasoning for what she did in through the moon
now, like most people, i am absolutely frustrated with it. she is being self-destructive and putting herself in harm’s way. but, the thing about her writing is it makes sense for her to do that. she has lost almost everybody she loves or cares about because of what she thinks are her mistakes. viren has taken runaan, her parents, and the second callum said that he wouldn’t let her go alone, that locked it in place for her. he wouldn’t let her go alone, so she wouldn’t give him the chance to go with her.
i’m not saying she didn’t do a fucked thing. she absolutely fucked up and callum needs an apology.
but this was a long time coming. we knew that rayla always prefers to do things herself, instead of putting other people in danger. ESPECIALLY if it’s callum. because she has experienced almost losing him many times through the show. and she’s lost everyone else she has loved, so she refuses to let viren take callum and thinks that this will keep him safe.
her reasoning for the ending is the same for the moon nexus. she knows it’s dangerous, wants to do it alone, callum refuses to let her do that (him saying if she’s in any danger he’s jumping right after her), except unlike the ending she lets him. why? because there is no way to stop him. when she was presented with a way out of him coming with her to hunt down viren, she took it immediately. after all, it’s her mistake to fix... right?
TLDR: rayla’s terrified of losing callum because he is one of the only people she has left, so she left to prevent him from putting himself in danger with her. rayla blames herself for viren being alive and runaan “dying” (luv hE’S NOT DEAD LOOK IN THE POND PLEASE-).
her trauma and why she blames herself for everything
it’s clear as day rayla has PTSD. she has nightmares, has trouble sleeping, has intrusive thoughts about it, and many other symptoms. she’s lost her parents, an adoptive father, and her home. there’s “nowhere she belongs now”. but she blames herself for losing runaan because it was because she went off-mission and didn’t kill marcos. it’s her fault all the assassins dying... right?
well, of course she’s wrong. she had no control in the situation but because it was because a thing she did snowballed and led to that, rayla automatically blames herself. it’s honestly very self-destructive, and for the love of god get therapy.
its like she was saying in s1. she tells ez and callum about her parents running away and how she’s trying to redeem herself for what her parents did. because she just can’t let it go. even when callum is asking for her to let it go (”rayla, let it go!” “what if it is time to move on?”) because she feels it is her responsibility now. if nobody else will fix it, she will.
this kind of snowballed into a whole analysis for her and how she deals with stuff and i dunno how to end it, but my final message is rayla needs a hug and therapy, and i’ll do one for callum later

do the character meme with your romantic f/o? unless you really wanna do one of your platonic ones? (kittyandco)
Thanks, @kittyandco 💖
Went ahead and filled it out with Aary…cause I need to do more work before I can introduce my new platonic f/os. They’re from a very old cartoon I watched as a kid…and nostalgia brought them back. More on that later…
favorite thing about them
Oof…it’s hard to choose. I’ll say personality-wise, his passion and eagerness to learn things. When he learns something new he has to find out more, but usually he comes to me and asks me to ramble for hours on it (coincidentally it’s usually a special interest of mine)
Physically: Those beautiful eyes of his. No further comment needed.
least favorite thing about them
With him specifically, his manipulative side. He doesn’t lie, but he still manipulates anyway. It’s cool for the show right now, since it’s the central villain that is his target…but not much else.
favorite line
Hm…well he has some good ones in the show. Some are clues about his mysterious past, some are terrifying…and some are totally innocent(ish) and playful.
I like this one…though it’s famous for being taken out of context and almost as overused as “How may I serve you?”:
“Has our relationship truly escalated to this new height? Am I your little bug pal?”
It’s to his accomplice, the central villain…and it’s very much mocking, looking for a reaction. But I still liked the tone it was said in. It was one of the few times so far his voice was anywhere close to friendly and playful as opposed to sinisterly seductive or on the rare occasion, angry or commanding.
But…I really like this line from the TDP Con panel last year (2020 on Zoom) skit where everyone plays D&D. XD
for context:
It’s the heroes (main trio and Soren) and the villains (Viren, Claudia, and Aaravos) and Aaravos is the DM. Everything has devolved into chaos as they’re all fighting each other in the very first scene, and everyone says what they’ll do. Viren (the central villain in the show) says his character will take action…but doesn’t actually say WHAT he does to do that. He is obviously projecting too, but this is Aaravos’ response after a moment of silence:
“…like what do you actually do?!”
He sounds so annoyed and a bit confused actually, and it’s so funny. XD It isn’t canon, I know, but the tone is great. Especially toward Viren, whom Aaravos is working…somewhat with, somewhat for. Regardless, it’s very funny every time I hear it. He’s so out of his element it’s hilarious. XD
random headcanon
Of the books he reads, he enjoys fiction most. Others see him reading large, complex textbooks on magic theory, philosophy, or psychology and others…but his favorites are works of fiction such as mystery novels and unrealistic but indulgent romances (the latter being so bizarre to people who know him as a godlike, unshakable Archmage) and the occasional time travel novel or adventure of someone from a world without magic ending up in one surrounded by it.
unpopular opinion(s)
I have several…but I’ll be brief on them:
-I don’t praise his villainous ways mostly because of the manipulation aspect (which is his biggest negative trait so far). In a relationship, I want to feel safe to know he won’t slip and do it to me.
-I don’t think his goal for himself is to take over the world, or at least the continent. As a god or other.
-I sincerely hope he is not an allegory of the devil…I am absolutely retconning that if he is.
-I don’t think he is going to kill Viren and take over as Big Bad of the series. At all.
-Not sure if this is unpopular…but boy do I hope he isn’t just the Puppetmaster either. I don’t think so based on evidence he can and does develop friendships and bonds…but that’s just begging for things to turn toxic for any relationship.
song i associate with him
Several. lol I’ve shared many (here, here, and here)…but here’s another one:
This
Though…again this could easily be a song for Viren (and/or Claudia) But for now my angst-loving heart is saying it fits Aaravos.
favorite picture of him
…it’s hard to choose. I’ll go with this one:
Tumblr media
Sadly not his default colors because context-wise this is an astral projection in a sense. But his expression (as most) is cute…and I like that it looks like he’s looking down at me (as he does) and saying something playful or amused. lol

The Dragon Prince Season 3 scattered thoughts:
MILD SPOILERS MIND YOU
How much better can the animation GET? BECAUSE THIS SEEMS PEAK PERFORMANCE
Is every f*cking elf in this story SO GORGEOUSLY BEAUTIFUL? That guy with the wing arms *kisses fingertips* PERFECTION
CALLUM AND RAYLA ARE SO CUTE OMG???? I HAVEN’T BEEN THIS INVESTED IN A SHIP SINCE I BOARDED THE TITANIC
Only RESPECT for my one true king
Soren has been redeemed - Sometimes I feel sorry for him, but he’s so hilarious I can forgive him anything. Also great character development there
I also feel terrible for Claudia. I can FEEL her torn between her father and her brother. And her distress for trying to keep her family together - man that girl is going to end up too  b r o k e n
I had the Gandalf and the LOTR vibes towards the end, you know what I mean
Amaya STILL SLAY QUEEN YASSS also Gren is back I love my son so much
I need to draw fanart of this season idk what but i will do something at least some sketches of Ezran because he deserves it
Idk if it was mentioned in the previous seasons but?? was i the only one who had the feeling that… Viren was in love with Sarai??? for a moment there i thought he was gonna use his own blood you know for what
I read somewhere here in tumblr that this season was about manipulation and toxic relationships and you know what Y E S Soren is a great example and I felt so happy for him when he realized it, and also Viren and his bug pet friend. Soren has a really important and heavy line towards the end and it went something like “if someone tells you to do something evil and they convince you that it’s something good, then that’s bad”. Lads, lasses, non-binary people: TATTOO THIS ON YOUR FACES. Actually look for the real quote because my memory sucks
I love that they know how to subvert expectations, not like other two guys whose surnames start with D’s and resemble an all time favorite board game known for their reptiles with wings and long and narrow spaces where you battle monsters to death
I MEAN SEASON 4 IS A THING NO??
Also i forgot to say i’m so happy Rayla is taller than Callum you know what boyz fuck those stupid stereotypes you know what this SHOW IS SUCH A DELIGHT IN THOSE ASPECTS like you know what?? your king has dark skin, you have lesbians and gays all around, and the girl is actually taller than the boy i’m just??? THANK YOU FOR EXISTING THAT’S ALL
