summary: ethan, who does not believe in soulmates, meets y/n, a hopeless romantic who is obsessed with the subject and makes him change his mind. later, they find out that all along there was an invisible string tying them to each other.

warnings: none, just fluff <3 it’s a hogwarts au but you don’t have to had watched harry potter to understand.

EVEN IN THE WIZARDING WORLD, SOULMATES WERE EXTREMELY RARE. Very few wizards were lucky enough to have a person that was quite literally meant for them. The amount of people who claimed had found their soulmates could be counted with one hand.

Being the hopeless romantic that she was, Y/N had always been obsessed with the concept of soulmates. She had read every single book about the topic, and her fascination never ceased.

Legend has it, if you had been blessed by Merlin with a soulmate, their initials would appear on your wrists when you turned 18—the legal age for wizards—, and if you happened to be near your soulmate, the thread that tied you to them would stop being invisible and would show its golden colour. No one but the two parts involved would be able to see it, so that’s why some wizards—the majority of them—didn’t fully believe soulmates existed.

Ethan Landry was part of the sceptic’s group. The wizarding civilisation was enormous, and only less than five people had found their soulmate? He called bluff. They were just trying to get some attention. Besides, the entire concept felt really silly to him.

“Do you mind if I sit here? It's the only corner where the sun doesn't hit” a sweet voice interrupted his study session. Ethan raised his head and his heart threatened to leave his chest when he came across two beautiful bright eyes and an adorable shy smile.

“Sure, no problem.” the Slytherin smiled at the Ravenclaw. That’s the most perfect smile I’ve ever seen, Y/N thought as she sat across from him.

That morning the sun was shining brightly and the temperature was perfect—neither hot nor cold—, so Y/N decided to read at her usual spot next to the Black Lake. With a content smile, she opened her favourite book and started her daily reading as she twirled her fingers around the green grass below her.

Ethan’s curious eyes took in the book cover and couldn’t help but chuckle as he read the title: The tale of the four soulmates.

Y/N looked up from her book and frowned at him. “Share the joke so we can laugh together.”

“I’m sorry, it’s just… do you read it for pure entertainment, or do you actually believe in soulmates?” he asked, scrunching his nose. And if he didn’t look so insulted by her beliefs, she would’ve thought it was a cute action.

“I do believe in them.” she answered, this time more politely.

“Why?”

“I don’t really have a certain reason. Isn’t it just so pretty to think that all along there was an invisible string tying you to your person?”

He wanted to scream ‘No, it isn’t!’, but he couldn’t, not when her entire being lit up as she talked about it. He wasn’t a monster, he couldn’t be rude to someone just because they thought differently.

“I guess it is… pretty, but I still don’t believe it. There hasn’t been any proof besides doubtful testimonies.” Ethan shrugged.

“That’s fair.” she said. “But, I mean, if you think about it, muggles think wizards exist sorely on movies and books. And yet, here we are. Why is it so hard for people to believe soulmates exist too?”

“You have a point. Unfortunately, I won’t believe it until I see it.”

“You won’t be able to see it, unless you have one.”

“I guess if it happens to someone I trust, I would believe their word.” Ethan said.

“I hope it happens. And when it does, remember when you laughed at the poor girl who sat by you next to the Black Lake.”

Ethan laughed, and it was the best sound Y/N had ever heard. “If it happens, I’ll look for you and apologise. How does that sound?.”

“Looking forward to it.” she smiled. “What’s your name, sceptic?”

The boy opened his mouth to reply when Chad, his best friend, strode towards him and grabbed him by the arm. “Snape is looking for you, and he seemed pretty angry.”

Ethan threw an apologetic glance at the girl. “See you are around, mystical girl.”

The girl rolled her eyes playfully “See you around, sceptic.”

NEITHER OF THE TWO TEENAGERS COULD STOP BUMPING INTO EACH OTHER SINCE THAT SHORT ENCOUNTER. If they hadn’t been so consumed by the electric spark that took over their bodies everytime they saw each other, they would’ve realized that maybe it wasn’t coincidental at all—it was their string pulling them together, because the time of the revelation was getting close and the tie grew stronger with the passing of days.

Ethan had already turned 18, and the unexpected happened—two initials appeared on the inside of his wrist. Y/N/I Y/L/N/I. There were lots of people with those initials, how the hell was he supposed to figure it out? He wished he could talk to that girl, the one who was constantly trying to change his mind about soulmates, but sadly they were on winter holidays.

Every encounter they had, she would tell him one fact about soulmates. And truth was, the more she said, the less he knew how to keep his sceptic mind. Her words had cut through him like a knife. And now that he had proof, there was nothing left to doubt. He couldn't wait to go back to Hogwarts and spill everything, but he also couldn't help feeling a bit disheartened about it. Ethan had taken a liking towards the girl, and he couldn't see himself getting to know anyone else but her.

He didn't know why, but his thoughts always bent towards her. He couldn't help it, it was like being lost in a current he could not free himself from.

Y/N's feelings weren't different from his at all. It was exhausting. Everytime she laid her head on the pillow, she could feel him sneaking in. And it weren't just dreams about him, her mind wondered about him throughout her whole day, and it bothered her a little. Firstly, because she didn't even know his name. And second, she just found out she had a soulmate.

"Mom, I'm going to go for a walk." Y/N yelled as she grabbed her coat.

As she strolled down the lighted up narrow street that was filled with dive bars, she thought about the revelation. It was supposed to be the happiest moment of her life. She had been waiting for her 18th birthday for years, but now she wished she hadn't been blessed with a soulmate. The prospect of finding them wasn’t so exciting anymore, and it was all because of that sceptic, brunet boy with wide eyes and radiant smile.

Y/N lowered her gaze down to her wrist and traced her fingers over the initials. E. L. "Will I ever find you?" and as she voiced the thought, she felt a pull on her body that made her come to a stop. She looked around the isolated street, but she didn't find anything. And then, she saw a flicker of gold in her periphery.

Her heart trumped as she followed the trail of the golden string. It came out of her wrist and it was guiding her towards a dive bar. This was it, her soulmate was there. Before she knew it, she was opening the door of the small bar illuminated by neon lights.

Her soulmate was staring right at her, and he wore the same appalled expression as her. Like compasses, their feet dragged them towards each other, meeting in the middle. Of course it was him, she thought, it had always been him.

“Hi, sceptic boy. What a turn of events, right?” she smiled at him. She was static, clouded by happiness.

“The best plot twist to ever exist.” Ethan mirrored her smile. “I guess, now in handsight, it was pretty obvious, right?”

Y/N let out a laugh as she nodded “So many clues we didn’t see.”

Ethan felt his chest might explode from happiness as he look down at their hands. The golden string was sparkling almost as much as the soulmates, who couldn’t get over the discovery. “I can’t believe this is happening. I’m so glad it’s you.”

“Me too.” she whispered, jointing their hands. Warmth spread through their bodies, and Ethan wrapped her in his arms.

“You wrecked my plans.” he said with a laugh, as he guided her to the stools. Y/N frowned in confusion, so he continued. “I was planning to wallow in sadness.”

“Why? What happened?” she asked worriedly. Ethan smiled at that, and then extended his right hand, showing her the initials. The girl’s eyes filled with sadness. “You didn’t want a soulmate?”

“Not if it wasn’t you.”

Y/N sighed in relief, pinching his ribs. “You scared me, asshole.” he laughed and muttered an apology. “By the way, we never exchanged names.”

“I’m Ethan Landry, ex-sceptic.” he winked at her.

“Y/N Y/L/N, and you, sir, owe me an apology.”

He stood up, putting his hands on her waist. She was sitting on the tall stool, making them be at the same height. “I’m really sorry for laughing at you.”

“Mmm… I don’t know if I should forgive you. Soulmates had always been a big deal to me.” she said playfully, fixing the already fixed collar of his shirt.

“Maybe I can bribe you?” he smirked, his hands trailed slowly from her waist to the back of her neck. “I’ve been told I’m a great kisser.”

Y/N frowned. “I don’t wanna know what your exes say about you” not to be toxic, but picturing him with other girls made her want to throw up.

“You’re so cute.” he laughed. “Maybe I shouldn’t have said that. But I want you to know that ever since I met you, I have been all about you. No one else.”

“Good.” she said with a sufficient smile.

“You stink with jealousy.” he scrunch his nose in a teasing manner.

Y/N rolled her eyes. “Shut up and kiss me, asshole.”

Ethan laughed and pulled her into a soft and magical kiss. “I’m in heaven.” he muttered between kisses.

“Wow, you went from aromantic to a sappy boy.”

“I know.” he sighed, acting frustrated. “I’m not ashamed though, I’m obsessed with you and I plan to show it everyday.”

“Now that sounds like heaven.”

It was a unanimous decision to have you leave the venue from the back and walk over to the entrance to wait in line with the rest of the crowds. None of you wanted nor needed the attention you could get if someone noticed you coming from backstage.

It’s for that very reason you made sure to hide your backstage pass deep in your bag, pulling out the upgraded tickets that the boys’ manager got for you.

You sent out a message once you got into line.

You let out a laugh, which quickly turned into cooing when Felix sent a selfie with a reluctant Seungmin, and you quickly closed your phone before anyone around you could see it (but not after saving it to your phone first). The line wasn’t moving just yet, so most people were either on their phones like you or chatting with each other.

You got into a fun conversation with the boy in front of you about your favorite choreographies, and then the girls behind you caught wind of your argument over how easy Maniac’s chorus really was and decided to start dancing to it. This caused the others in line to start cheering, and you were quick to film the moment to send to the boys later.

Once the doors were open and people were being let in, the line started to move quickly. Since you had arrived a little bit later, it took you a while to get in, but the conversations you enjoyed with other fans and the occasional text to the boys more than made up for it.

You found your seat easily, a girl with bright pink hair and a tall lanky boy with glasses sitting in the spot next to yours. You didn’t think much about it, sitting down and about to text the boys that you were inside the venue when the girl suddenly turned to face you with a blinding smile.

You turned your phone off to hide your chat.

“Hey, I love your outfit!”

You blinked at her. “Umm, thank you! I love your hair.”

“My name’s Sophie!”

“Soph, please. You can’t just start spontaneous conversations with every person you meet,” The boy piped up, placing an arm on the girl’s arm.

Sophie pouted. “But I really did like their outfit.”

“It’s okay,” I reassured. “I really do like your hair.”

You introduced yourself to Sophie, who then introduced the boy sitting next to her as her boyfriend, Alexis.

“Don’t mind him, he thinks it’s embarrassing to be as friendly as me.”

“I never said that. I think it’s adorable, but I know not everyone does,” Alexis argued.

“No, you just think I’m adorable,” Sophie corrected.

You let out a giggle. “You are kind of adorable.”

“I know!”

Both of you laughed. You spent the next few minutes chatting and getting to know each other, and you found that you had a lot in common with Sophie. The pinkette was easily excitable and a bit loud, which made her bias being Han unsurprising. Alexis was also surprisingly a Han bias, and you found yourself gasping when they admitted that they had met at a fan sign and were fangirling over Han next to each other in line.

It was like a moment out of a movie when they realized they were soulmates, sharing a hidden soulmark that they discovered months into dating each other.

“Have you met your soulmate?” Sophie asked, smiling at you in such an endearing way.

You returned the smile. “Yeah.”

“Oooh. Are they a stray kids fan?”

“I sure hope they are,” You said with a laugh.

The lights started to dim then, and the both of you immediately grew silent for a split second before the music started, and then everyone started to scream. Even though you had spent the past two days literally in the arms of the men who would be performing, you screamed along with the others in excitement as they came on stage.

You knew just from the double take Seungmin made in your direction that you were going to be teased relentlessly for it later, but in that moment, you couldn’t find it in you to care. Sophie echoed your screams, and the both of you shared a brief look in your excitement.

During the next 2 hours, the two of you would sing along to the songs, laugh at the members antics, and chat with each other during the moments between songs. When Sophie made a mad dash to the bathrooms the second the fan dance cam began, Alexis leaned over to whisper to you.

“Hey, thanks for not brushing her off. It’s nice to see Soph having fun with someone else.”

You frowned. “Yeah, sure. I mean, she’s really cool. Do people … brush her off a lot?”

“You’d be surprised,” Alexis told you.

When Sophie returned, since the next song had yet to begin, you took the opportunity to ask her for her number. Her face lit up in excitement and astonishment, and you found yourself feeling annoyed that anyone could ever push her away. Sure, she was a little loud and overly excitable, but it seemed like you were the first person to ever want to be her friend.

You made sure to periodically check in on her for the rest of the concert, which ended far too soon.

"That was amazing," Sophie gushed.

"I know!"

"Did you see when Han hugged Seungmin from behind? Ugh! So cute."

"Or when Changbin winked at Hyunjin and then got surprised when Hyunjin winked back. I was laughing so hard!"

"Babe, what was your favorite part?"

Alexis hummed, moving to grab Sophies waist when she stumbled trying to walk backwards. "I might be a bit biased, but when 3racha were singing their song, Han was looking a little too fine. I'm pretty sure a couple people died when he stuck out his tongue."

"Ugh, a menace that man is. He does it on purpose, I swear."

You laughed at them as they pretended to fan themselves, and as you walked with the pair towards the exit you suddenly remembered your plans to meet the boys backstage after the show. The route you would need to take was in the opposite direction to the exit you were heading towards.

You paused.

"Hey, it was really nice meeting you two, but I actually have to head over that way," You told them, pointing towards the other exit.

"Hmm? Oh, I was going to offer you a ride back to your place since you mentioned not having a car … are you going to uber?"

"Nah, my … my soulmate is going to give me a ride."

Sophie nodded. "Cool. Do you want us to wait until you meet up with them?"

You blinked, letting out an awkward laugh. "Oh, no. That's fine. I think they're already here anyways."

This time it was Alexis who spoke up. "We can walk you to their car. Its dark out, it might not be safe for you to be walking around alone."

"No, really. It's fine," You assured them, finding yourself panicking. "Really, its not that far."

You were touched by their worry, and if this was any other situation you wouldn't have hesitated to accept the couple's offer. But you couldn't exactly have them see you get in a car with Stray Kids without it spelling out your situation in large bold letters.

Sophie frowned, looking very much like she'd like to continue to argue with you, but Alexis just nodded.

"Fair enough. You should let us know when you get home safe though, just in case."

Your shoulders slumped in relief. "Yeah, that would be great."

You exchanged numbers quickly, and you gave the pair a quick wave as you turned around. The stadium was almost empty at this point, most people already having made their way out through the exits and leaving behind a handful of staff members who started cleaning up in their absence. You almost ran head first into the chest of one of those staff members as you turned around, and you took a few steps back with your hand raised.

"Oh, sorry. I didn't see you there."

The staff member gave you an easy smile, and then proceeded to say your name with a questioning tone. Sophie and Alexis looked back from where they had begun to leave.

You nodded your head slowly

"Your soulmates sent me to get you," The guy said cheerfully.

You froze.

The staff member motioned for you to follow them, and you only managed to get a glimpse of Sophie as you shot a look over your shoulder. Her brows were furrowed in confusion, and you gave her a quick wave, hoping the panic that you were feeling didn’t show on your face. You didn’t get to see if she returned the wave as you turned around quickly to make sure you didn’t trip over the piles of confetti that other staff members were sweeping up, and if you weren’t so confused and worried, you might have offered to help them.

Chris was waiting for you outside the waiting room, and the moment you caught sight of him you rushed past the staff member to hug him.

“I think I fucked up,” You groaned.

He patted your back. “What happened?”

You explained the situation as he led you back into the room, and not even the sight of a shirtless Felix could make you feel better. The others listened in as you explained how some random fan might have enough information to put together the puzzle pieces to who your soulmates were.

“Sophie seemed really nice, and I don’t think she’d ever do something like that, but … ugh!”

You expected them to be upset. But you were surprised when Chris simply smiled at you, telling you not to worry. The others looked more or less unphased at the news, Hyunjin even leaning back into the couch with a pout, saying something in Korean. Changbin nodded in agreement, running over to steal you out of Chris’s arms.

“I don’t care if world finds out. You my soulmate, I am proud.”

“But you’re idols. This kind of news could ruin your career!”

The group began to protest, but Changbin cut them off by grabbing your face in between his hands so he could look you in the eyes. “I have your initials on my body since the moment I was born. I have always knowed that I belong to you, and I don’t care if everyone else knows. Only thing that matters, is you.”

“Binnie-“

“Also, I want to sleep with you tonight.”

You brain froze. “Come again?”

“Hey, hey!” Jisung protested.

Chris sighed. “Poor choice of words, Bin.”

Changbin looked around at the others, his face twisting in confusion. “Ah, Minho sleep with you last night. I … want my turn?”

“Oh, yeah. Right.” You let out a giggle. “Of course you can sleep with me tonight”

“Poor choice of words!”

“Get your mind out of the gutter, Felix!”

You ended up seated in between Seungmin and Jeongin on the way back. While exiting the venue, the boys told you to hide, so you squeezed yourself down onto the floor until you were far enough away that you could get back into your seat, nearly falling into Jeongin’s lap as you did. He pulled you into his arms as soon as you were next to him.

“Jagi, did you enjoy the concert?”

You nodded enthusiastically, immediately gushing to both him and the others in the car (Chan and Minho) about your favorite moments and how much you enjoyed the concert. Halfway through your explanation, Seungmin reached over and grabbed your hand. You didn’t falter for a second, intertwining your fingers as you praised Jeongin for his performance to Thunderous, and you cooed when he got shy and tried to hide behind his hands.

“Leave the baby alone, love,” Chan told you from the front seat, his face betraying his own amusement.

“Poor baby bread,” You played along. “So shy now, but you definitely weren’t shy during the concert. Don’t think I didn’t see you wink at me during Red Lights.”

“Hmm, don’t think I didn’t see you fanning yourself when he did,” Seungmin said.

“Man, why would you call me out like that?”

The boys all laughed, and you giggled along with them. When you arrived to the hotel, you all split off to get ready for bed individually, and you took the opportunity to send a message to Sophie that you were back at your hotel. She replied immediately.

Sophie That’s great!!! So, about your soulmate … Y/N I know. I wasn’t sure how to explain. Sophie You could have just told me that your soulmate was a staff member. I think it’s sweet they sent a coworker to make sure you were able to get backstage. Y/N Oh. Yeah. I mean, I needed to be safe about it. Sophie No, yeah. I understand. Just out of curiosity though, did you get to meet Stray Kids. Y/N Haha, Yes! They were amazing! Super nice, it’s a shame I didn’t get any photos or an autograph. Sophie Man, that does suck. But you’re so lucky you got to meet them at all.

You felt a little bad about not telling Sophie the truth, but technically you didn’t lie. You just … didn’t tell her the whole truth. It took a huge weight of your shoulders. As much as Changbin and the others insisted it wasn’t a big deal, you knew just how vicious the internet could be to idols and other celebrities when they found their soulmate.

You would protect them for as long as you could.

Working in a café in your junior year of high school was probably the dumbest decision you've made. Well, in your defence, last year when you started working, it was a nice distraction. The cafe wasn't very popular, the same few faces greeting you everyday.

But a couple months ago, a local influencer made a post about the cafe and the once silent and comforting cafe was constantly bombarded with people.

You were happy for the raise, but not for the increased work.

The only reason your parents haven't asked you to quit yet is because this job makes you meet new people everyday. 'Parents and their obsession with soulmates' you thought, and continued wiping the table.

You remember being excited to meet yoir soulmate just like your parents. When you meet your soulmate, the charms link together and let go whenever they please.

Now that you're older, you aren't as much excited, all because you remember seeing people all over each other, practically eating each other's faces throughout your high school days.

Today was one of the few days that it was actually peaceful, only a handful of people coming in. It had been over half an hour since no one came and you were honestly getting tired of wiping the same floor and same tables.

Just then the bell attached to the door chimed as someone made their presence known. The person stood in front of the counter looking at the menu and wondering what to order, but all you could think about was how pretty this guy is.

His beauty could single handedly defeat all of your past crushes, combined.

Before you literally start drooling at him, he opened his mouth to place his order and started taking out the money for it. God even his voice was pretty, were you going to get a crush on a random stranger you probably would never meet.

Taking your eyes off his breathtaking form, you hurried to make his drink. In record time the drink was in front of him, even he looked surprised as to how you made it so fast.

He handed you the money, something shiny on his wrist caught your eye. You returned his change and observed his wrist.

It looked too much like yours.

Before you could be out of your trance and open your mouth, he had thanked you with the prettiest smile and was hurrying out the door.

For the next week you couldn't get the pretty stranger out of your mind. All your thoughts circled back to whether his charm was really similar to yours. To be fair, a lot of people had similar looking charms, just enough difference that you wouldn't catch in a hurry. Sure his must have been different.

But you couldn't shake off this feeling that there was more to it, you just wanted to run to him and confirm it yourself. But where would you go? You didn't know his name, or his age, or which school (or uni) he went to.

Today was one of the worst days you've had this whole month. Firstly your teacher suddenly announced that you needed to submit a lengthy assignment tomorrow, then your locker door won't open and you were late to class. It seemed that you had pissed your teacher a lot considering you were sent to detention, and then your regular bus had missed.

After waiting about 20 minutes, the next bus arrived, you got on and walked to the very back of the bus to sit. You almost cursed out loud when you saw who was sitting in the row beside yours, almost.

It was the guy from the café! He had his earphones plugged in as he was hurriedly typing on his phone. The charm on his bracelet caught your attention, it really did look like yours.

Again, before you could speak up, thr bus had stopped and he was walking towards the door. He was going to get off!

You weighed your options for 2 seconds before you were also walking out.

He was walking away still immersed in texting, his whole attention on his screen. God what kind of tea did he get to have that much attention on texting.

Just then you saw a car speeding on the road, the road this guy was going to walk on!! You ran towards him, pulling his shirt collar just in time as the car zoomed past. You pulled him far away from the road.

He began coughing due to the pressure on his neck as you panted from the running. He threw a confused look towards you and before he could open his mouth you said, "A car was speeding, you would've gotten run over."

He probably didn't notice anything due to the earphones still plugged in. Noticing his neck slightly turn red you apologised. But he was quick to brush it and thank you for saving him.

It was awkward for a moment, till he noticed your gaze on his wrist. In turn he looked at yours, immediately softly grabbing your wrist to inspect your bracelet.

"You're.. We are.." he muttered, not being able to finish his thoughts.

"Yeah. Yeah we are." you nodded.

He hesitantly brought up his wrist to link your charms together. Although you already knew that you were soulmates, this was a process that made your bond stronger.

As the charms linked together, he looked up to meet your eyes. God even his eyes were pretty, long lashes and everything. This man was perfection, and he was your soulmate?

"I'm Sunoo, Kim Sunoo. Are you free right now? I mean, we don't really have a choice since this will not let go just now." he said, although borderline rambling, his voice remained soft and soothing.

You couldn't stop the smile on your face as it was finally dawning upon you that you found your soulmate. You nodded at him as he gave you one of his smiles that might even put the sun to shame.

"Let's go then! I'll show you my favourite places and you show me yours." he said, his voice more high pitched as he became excited. A slight bounce in his step as he grasped your hand, his fingers weaving through yours.

ANYTHING by the Cadina Captain herself, Chisamaya. Maya's been holding down the Cadina fort for YEARS and has 13 INCREDIBLE Cadina fics on her AO3. She's also on Tumblr @chisamayas and posts super cute fanart of Mean Girls and Cadina all the time! My personal favorite fic of hers is Collared (very smutty pet play fic) and I will live and die a Collared stan.

can i come and sweep you off your feet? - super adorable (and angsty at some points, especially for poor regina) fame AU by my very talented friend ninesixtheenths / @girlkisser-wieners on Tumblr! i absolutely also recommend her rugby fic, which is rejanis but is 10/10.

(mean girls) series by anonymous - this is from another friend of mine who posts these anonymously instead of tying them to her account. there are SO MANY good ones in here (12 at time of writing this) including a soulmates au, a superhero au, and some GREAT character studies of both regina and cady. there are a few rejanis fics in this series too but they're all phenomenal.

okay onto fics that aren't from my friends but i heavily recommend, in no particular order:

Mirror Me Back - okay i know i said no particular order but this one's a lie. if you haven't read MMB yet, stop what you're doing and read it right now. it's very smut heavy, however, this is genuinely the fic that got me into writing for this fandom and it is one of the best fics i've ever read across any fandom. every day i perform rituals for an update /j

On Predators and Pack Dynamics - omegaverse fic that is genuinely incredible. obviously very smut heavy but i love the characterization of them here and i also often pray for updates on this one.

if i could tell her (how she's everything to me) - role reversal & arts high school AU from 2020 where cady is the popular one and regina is a little socially awkward. very cute, very sweet, very fun.

Pretty Girls - mean girls 2024 rewrite where cady and regina were anonymous pen pals before cady moved to evanston. really loved this one!! one of the first i read in the tag.

To You, I Can Admit That I'm Just Too Soft for All of It - grad school au that i absolutely LOVE. the chapters are unordered snippets but they are so cute and fun. the author also does some social media stuff with it, i believe on tumblr, so it's a cute little tie in!!

you would find her in a polaroid picture - SUPER good college au!! genuinely recommend anything this author writes tbh i adore their stuff!!

i choose you and me, religiously - once again recommending anything this author writes as well. SO talented. this one is a slow burn idiots in love au and it's just. chef's kiss. muah. i love it.

to answer the other part of your question, about the writing advice, my genuine main piece of advice is to just keep writing. even if it's stuff you don't intend to publish, or a half-baked idea. write drabbles for yourself and just let the words get on the page. i used to publish in a different fandom circa 2017-2019 and hadn't published in YEARS until i started writing a thousand pictures (well, really, don't look for me, but ya know, this all REALLY took off with a thousand pictures). despite the fact that i haven't published in a very long time i never really stopped writing. my google drive is full of folders of assorted drabbles of self indulgent bullshit. snippets from other fandoms, self insert scenarios, some original ideas that with a lot more cooking, could potentially be novel worthy one day. (i am a LONG ways off from that though lol)

my point is, publishing fic can be daunting. even writing coherent or long enough fic to make a cohesive story can be daunting at first. it's better to write for yourself and get the practice of writing even just singular or small series of scenes if you aren't ready for a full fic yet. writing should be fun! make sure you're having fun doing it and trying not to stress the details too much!

It will be an x reader, I have never wrote one so we’ll be figuring this out together :)

OKAY, hear me out before reading the text below: this blog of mine is just a place, where I can see my progress in many of things, and writing in english is one of them. the deal is - english is not my native language, and my way of writing can look very bad.

if you decide to read my little sketch, firstly - good luck; and secondly, if when you see some dumb mistakes - feel free to comment because learning stuff is fun!

(also I'm like probably need to do a disclaimer or something like this, but I don't know how :D)

well, it's just fluff (?), without any triggers and just something that was in my head for a while. also I'm using the real names on the dream team in this text. actually, all my thoughts slowly became a whole au (this is the right word for it, right?), so if I will be really confident, maybe I write something else....

UGH this is again a super long text, I'M SORRY.

imagine that you've been friends with «dream team» for an almost a three years.

originally you were an employee on a mr. beast team, something that others would call an errand boy (well, errand girl in your case). but despite your small position in a whole team, everyone was simply in love with you. you just were a little shining star, that everybody adored. and beside that, you knew how to do your job. and by one of these hard-working days, you've meet sapnap.

there were a small pause between shooting for a new challenge video, where nick was one of the judges, and it happend that you both had a chance to chat for a little bit. you two find in each other someone nice, almost like a soulmate. when you too start to speak about different topics, including hobbies and favorite things, something just clicked. after a shooting, y'all just spontaneously decided to go for a walk. you both just can't stop talking, and after a hour or so, you find yourself on a basketball court. the day slowly becoming an evening, there only a few people around, and you two with beer cans just lazily playing basketball.

and after that day your life just start change entirely.

after sapnap you've met sunshine with name karl, and then dream, george, even quackity. the boys was also amazed with your warm personality and you all pretty fast become great buddies. you start to show in theirs instagram photos, twitter posts, stories. you've slowly become an important member of their group. staying for a movie night, cook for them, give a ride on your car, making birthday presents, spending time in video games, and eventually joining the streams.

to be honest, chat was kinda aggressive by the first time and full of comments like "omg why are they even let this girl to join, she's just ruining all the fun" and bunch of other not-so-nice words. guys were super sorry that you have to deal with all this hate, but you honestly won't making a big deal out of that. you just continue to show up from time to time, and slowly but surely people realize that your "boring" side was actually a "super caring" side.

and only after this realization everybody understand how cool actually your character resonates with sometimes childish characters of the rest of the group. the memes start to full the internet, boys start jokingly addresses to you like "sweet mother of ours", and you were very audible and visible cringing at the name, but they're just unstoppable.

and after a two and a half years of your friendship, after george finally gets a visa and clay does a face reveal, four of you guys finally moved together.

and that simply become a golden era of your friendship.

you spend mornings with george, when you get ready for work and this man with no sleep schedule gives you company. at the moment that you start making a breakfast, this man just magically appears with his cute puppy eyes, and after the few times when your plate was getting empty for about a fifteen seconds, you just start to cook for you two. imagine: dark room with only one working lamp, you both eating some puffy pancakes, drinking something warm, chatting and silently giggling. it's a little foggy outside, and almost absolute silence. sounds really comforting, does it not? after you finished eating, you give george a small kiss on his head, maybe mess up with his hair and beg him to get some rest.

the days fly by really fast, when you making stuff with dream. join the stream for a moment? sure. what about the new idea for the video/song? tell me everything. maybe you want to go to the shopping together? get in my car, clay. you freely can go to his room when silence in your head gets too loud. often you just knock on his room door shyly, and ask if you can sit on the bed while dealing with work. and he never refuse. also you absolutely love to draw him in the moments when he really focused on something, maybe make him a few more knitted hats or something cute, but stupid. and he absolutely melts at every single touch. you just need to tell him that everything is okay, and he always can find a support in his friends. and he's so thankful for this.

and finally, you want the evenings to never end because you spend them with sapnap. he don't want to show it, but you just see it anyways - he cares about you. of course, that doesn't mean that other guys don't care, but sapnap do it in his own way and you really appreciate it. almost every evening he casually walks into your room, and if he sees how tired you look because of the work, all his appearance softens immediately. with his silent, raspy voice he asks how do you feel. and if your answer not satisfying enough, nick just casually says that he's going to wait you in the car. and that means - this evening going to be awesome. you both have no clue what are you going to do tonight, but that's just more fun, right? basketball court, just like in the old times? eating junk food in the car, while chatting and shouting the songs? skateboarding park, when nick trying to impress you, but just stupidly falls and now you need to bandage all his wounds, while you just can't stop from laughing? (he's trying to act offended, but inside he's all fluff, believe me).

but sometimes you decide to hang out in the house. sapnap picks up some random film, brings more pillows and blankets, you cook (or order) snaks, and you both just simply chilling together after a long day. and I don't need to tell that almost every time the rest of the group decide to join. maybe it's even spontaneously become a movie night? who knows. you can't even blink, and it's 3am already, the third movie silently playing on the back, all the boys sleeping and barely audibly snore. and only you stubbornly want to wait until the credits. and the movie finally ends, you trying to clean up a little, while you judge the main character in your mind. when you come back to the sleeping kingdom, you can't help but smile at the view of three big men just calmly sleeping, and unconsciously trying to hug something. you definitely take a few photos, and when you want to go to your room, suddenly dream wakes up and mid-sleep reach up to you, whispering that he want to cuddle. your heart was not ready for this, and you just can't say "no" to him.

and when you slowly falling into sleep, while warm big hands carefully hugs you, you just think to yourself - oh, how extremely lucky you are.

well, maybe you can skip the next day at work.

...you can't miss how nick and george all morning going to scream that they're absolutely-for a hundred percent-for sure-definitely didn't hug each other all night.

okay. i am so desperately obsessed with this fic, i was obsessed with it the first time i read it and im obsessed with it now. and yes i know i did all hiuythn fics last week and i promise i wont this week. BUT i have a set of comments associated with this fic bc it is Just That Good and so i shall present them to u now:

- literally the funniest characterization of shiro i’ve ever read. this shiro is gay and tired. this shiro unironically and frequently says “move. i’m gay” and gets away with it at the garrison. this shiro has been through A Lot and just wants to fucking retire - allura here is so so funny she’s such a badass. she’s giving “i love shiny things! like the shine of your spilled blood on the floor if you say that dumb shit one more fucking time!!” we stan a queen. - coran is a Mood. this man is desperately trying to reign in four teenagers and two young adults and just wants to go to bed and also he cares for them all so so much. ultimate dad - pidge is Mischief Personified. she is a brat and i adore her. she’s here to cause problems and by god she will succeed - hunk is so done it’s so fucking funny. “that’s literally impossible.” he’s a genius and he knows it, he’s glad to call you out on your bullshit. he doesn’t even TRY to pretend he can keep a secret and/or handle drama god what a mood - don’t even get me started on klance!! they’re so funny omg. the banter is EXQUISITE. lance and keith adore each other so much and they’re so badass. literally the coolest power couple fight scenes ever to be made, i do adore. gosh. and the ROMANCE they are so devoted to each other i’m emotional - honourable mention of lance’s legs and keith’a Soft Squishy Feelings that are mentioned so often that they’re characters. iconic. all in all, the best way to describe this series is Gay and Tired. i love it and i’m sad to see it end. i will be rereading it an embarrassing number of times. infinity/10

oblivious lance will always be funny to me. and the idea of keith just letting lance get away with Everything and Everyone knowing how whipped he is except for lance himself?? peak humour. never not funny

Keith is impulsive and straightforward when it comes to most things, and emotions are no exception. It's no surprise, then, that when he realises that he might have developed a crush on Lance, he tries to tell him immediately. She's the tear in my heart, I'm on fire - the gay yearning in this one is so UNBELIEVEABLY off the charts it's so sweet and fills that slice of life highschool trope hole if u like that!! minako does get stoned in this one, not during the whole fic, but i figured i would warn anyways in case that makes anyone uncomfy Past Loves And Current Problems - ending this with this cute fic of minako finding out about greek mythology regarding mars and venus being lovers teehee ^_^ this fic also talks about ace's "curse" on venus from the codename sailor v manga AND I LOVE THAT i wish more fics talked abt that.... i have so so so many more i want to talk about and show everyone but i feel bad for this wall of text so i will leave that for a pt2/pt3 in the future mayb... i am filled with reinako brainrot and its never going away im so sorry u guys 💔

he’s left a bunch of messages and even thought of going to her apartment but he opted to give her some space to calm down

the rest of the day was spent thing of scenerios that could possibly happen

Artemis wanted to pass by and see how he was going but he told her it was better to stay away from the manor and out of sight together whilst the whole thing went away

She still mega tube to the cave, thanks Artie for being such a good friend (hope you taste the sarcasm)

Jason goes down to the cave and greets her, she is not looking happy and an unhappy amazon is NEVER good.

“Care to explain why i am not allowed to be seen with one of my best friends?”

“Artie, it’s difficult to explain, with the whole article blowing up its a little tense right now”

“why? it’s just press, we both know it isn’t true and that it’ll cool off in a few days”

“yes but there is someone believing it is true and i need for her to stop believing it is true”

“i see why your panic is so evident then”

“well yes-“

“who would have thought? Jason Todd panicked because of the media. Never in my life-“

“mmkay enough, is my misery amusing to you?”

“yes, quite a lot, especially if it’s because of a girl after you swore your only relationship in life would be spite and chaos. i must meet this girl!”

“yes we’ll right now neither of us is gonna have any luck with talking to her seeing as she probably isn’t the happiest with me right now”

Artemis starts to laugh and Jason looks at her questionably

“She probably thinks we truly are a thing! That’s ridiculous”

Jason is confused by what she says…they have had encounters in the past, like they HAVE fallen to bed together, why is it ridiculous

Seeing her friend still confused , Artemis chuckles and explains “I had come with news my friend. You see, let’s just say your girlfriend has more chances of having me as a lover than you.”

as if this couldn’t get anymore ridiculous to believe

Jason laughs in disbelief

“Well, that makes my explanation to her 10 time easier”

Artemis starts to laugh, “Let me see her, all the pictures you post of her don’t show her face”

Jason takes out his phone and starts to show many of the pics he has with her.

“hmmmm and are you sure she is completely off limits? Cause if it fails with you, i can come and pick up the pieces” Artemis says with a teasing look in her eyes

Jason glares at her and rolls his eyes

“Yes absolutely out of limits, she is MY soulmate after all, My person! get your own”

Artemis cackles in response and just when she’s about to respond a notification pops up

- yn__truly just made a post-

At that Artemis lost it

“YOU HAVE HER NOTIFICATIONS ON!?!?! OMG JASON!!! YOU ARE WHIPPED!” She howls. Her laughter sounding through all the cave.

Jason’s face was worth it. He was red in the face, trying to fight of a smile and trying to come up with what to say.

“Oh fuck off”

At that, another fit of giggles erupted from the girl.

He opens his instagram only to find out that Nola and Yn are at some rich asshole’s party and they were drinking A LOT.

The captions were concerning so he decided that that night he would leave his phone without do not disturb, just in case ANYTHING happened

And how thankful he was of making that decision.

After Artemis had left, Jason opted to stay this night at the manor and not go to patrol, Alfred advised it was for the best seeing has his emotions were all over the place. Instead of staying in the cave, he walked towards the library, grabbed a book, and sat down in his section.

Time went by and before he knew it, it was nearing 1 am. Just as he is about to turn the page, his phone rings.

He looks at the caller and sees Yn’s contact name, “Light of my eyes”

The day his siblings found out that was her contact name, they had a field day. But that’s a story for another time

He picks it up and the cringes at the loud music

“HEYYYYY! THIS IS JASON RIGHT!?!?”

A voice he didn’t recognize

“Yes, who’s asking?”

“Oh perfect! This isssss Nolaaaaa! I’m a bit tipsy right now but you should seeee Y/n, full out gone! I’m calling you cause cause causeeeee well cause….i don’t remember my reason…”

he laughed a little, she really did sound like how Yn described her

“but AnyWAYsssss, come pick up Yn, she’sss like drunkie drinkity drunk drunk and i’m not like you know soberity sobers right now so yeahhhh!”

Fuck, he didn’t hesitate to answer

“Alright, text me the address and i’ll pick her up and make sure to take her back home”

Nola told him the direction of the hotel and soon he arrived.

He wore black sweatpants with a white t-shirt and his grey running shoes. He had his signature red hoodie in the car just in case yn got cold.

he walks to the lobby and spots Nola and sun sitting in the sofa giggling out of their minds until they spot him.

“JAY!” Yn screams and runs to him with open arms. He lets her embrace him and holds her there whilst Nola walks over.

“Thank you for taking her home” she smiles and blows a kiss to Yn, “bestie you are in safe hands” says Nola as she walks away and opens the door to the ballroom, starting to dance as she gets in.

Yn is literally cuddled up to him, clearly not sober and looks up at him

Her eyes look watery and soft as she takes him in

Before she can say anything, he holds her and starts carrying her bridal style to the car

On the way to her apartment, yn got cold and Jason gave her his hoodie. Even if the tight black dress looked nothing less of delicious on her, seeing her in his clothes killed him

She had worn his leather jacket various times before, and every time, it made him almost dizzy with love

She then connected her phone to the aux and started blasting her favorite songs and screaming the lyrics out

From Bad Bunny to Shakira, she sang every word with her heart and soul

He found it amusing and even adorable

This is not something new, she has done this a few times in the car, but seeing her do it drunk and mess up the lyrics and even almost cry at some was another thing and it made him laugh.

“El mismo aire” from Pablo Alborán and Camilo starts to play

yn opted to sit back and just whisper the song

the whole vibe of the car started to tone down to one more intimate, slow and relaxed.

at that, Jason heard a small sniffle and turned to looked at her, she was numbly looking at the road, her eyes watery and a single tear running down her cheek. They were already nearing her apartment.

the song carried out, but yn stayed silent. more tears ran down her cheeks

He had heard he talk Spanish before but my God, was he addicted to hearing her singing it. It was intoxicating and it didn’t help that she had a nice voice. For a moment, he forgot everything and just let himself be mesmerized by the girl next to him. His heart beat so strong for her, it pained sometimes.

She turned to look at him

“Jason…” she whispered, voice full of sorrow

he looked at her, it was noticeable she still wasn’t sober by the way her gaze fell on him.

“yk…you strangely look a lot like him, mr. uber nola hired” said she and there he got his confirmation that Lord she was not there yet.

“well mister uber, i have a question, have you ever been in love with someone you knew from the start you couldn’t have?” she questions him and Jason just stares at her. He shakes his head no, which prompts her to continue

“Lucky you, my friend, lucky man. I am not so fortunate you see, I fucked up. I fucked up! and i’m so stupid for it,” at this, she closes her eyes and more tears start to go down her checks, “Jaosn fkn Peter Todd, maybe you know him. Well you probably do…he’s Bruce Wayne’s son you see. You might be wondering how i got myself tangled up with him. Funny thing is, i have no idea. One day you go to a gala, the next you are the Wayne kids’ current obsession and one of the is hitting on you and asking you on a date and romancing you and you think you are special and you feel loved and noticed until BOOM! He changes to someone else and you don’t even know what did you do wrong to make him leave….” she takes a deep breathe and tries to wipe her tears. “Who knew rich kids could be so fkn cruel?!?! Just because they have money doesn’t mean they can just USE civilians for their enjoyment!”

HUH!?!?? Is…is that what she thought it was????

“My theory is that they hold a game to pick one random civilian and have one of them romance them just cause and see how far they can get and my bet is that because i was not being easy on Jason, he got bored and went to get someone of his actual league.” she says slumping against the chair dejectedly

Jason was stunned and flabbergasted. Oh his sweet girl, how wrong could she be about ALL of them. She had never expressed anything about this (well he couldn’t exactly blame her either). Had they given that impression? He thought about his siblings obsession and bet. He thought about the challenge and how out of the blue it was. She was right to believe something weird was going on. She had every right to not be trusting because it HAD been weird and they hadn’t noticed because of their excitement to meet her and have her be a part of the family. And then, the pictures with Artemis. Fuck. He was suffering from a cause that wasn’t even his fault, it just was a LOT of lack of communication. Her feelings were so valid.

“I was just a toy, a joke, a charity case, a nothing, a small moment of a good time” she kept on going and a fresh round of tears began, “the worst part of it all is that I’d repeat it in a heartbeat, I’d say yes all over again, cause if i get to be part of Jason’s world even if it’s a small portion of it. You know…there were times i could swear his soul and mine were made of the same magic…we just fit, you know” her voice starts to tremble and she shakes her head, “how foolish of me to think I could have someone that surely was never meant to be mine” she finished and continues to wipe her tears.

“If only you knew my love, my light, my soul, if only you knew, that our souls ARE made by the same magic and were made to be intertwined” Jason couldn’t help but think

They stayed in silent as she finally calms down, “i am so so sorry, i’m here spilling my heart out to some random uber” she starts to apologize and he almost chuckles, she is still so drunk out of her mind she hasn’t recognized him. “it’s alright” he responds

He parks the car, turns it off, helps her out of it and bring her to her apartment. He’s been there a few times and already knows his way around.

Once inside, he carries her a lays her on her bed

Because of all the many nights they have gone facetiming, he knows her night skin care routine by heart, so he sits her up, takes her make up with her make up wipes and helps her with it. He is so gentle with her, as if he fears she might break. He ties her hair up, knowing she hates sleeping with it loose.

The entire time she is looking at the abyss, her head in another world.

Finally he tells her to get changed, which she nods and goes to the bathroom and does.

The entire time is spent with soft orders and a comfortable silence.

once she is changed, she tries to give him his hoodie but he tells her to keep it.

She gets in bed and before he knows it, she’s sound asleep

Today must have been just as draining for her

He goes to the kitchen and comes back with some pain killers for the morning and a water bottle. He puts them on her bedside table and kisses her heads He whispers goodnight and leaves, making sure to turn off the lights and lock the apartment door as he leaves.

Jason sits on the car, and sighs as he turns it on and starts to drive back to the manor

Tomorrow will be hell, that’s for sure.
