I know that everyone stims, but I wanted to get a sample size from autistic people specifically. Also, I know there are non-vestibular stims involving other senses (such as hearing or sight) but I'm just talking about vestibular (movement) stims right now.

Any other autistic people never really connect with stim toys? It's awesome if you do, but I'm wondering if there are others like me who just have never really enjoyed using a stim toy that much. I've always preferred body stims. Maybe it's the fear of judgement for being an adult who uses stim toys in public, but even at home I don't use my stim toys particularly often. My favourite stim toy is my sensory slug, though even that I don't use all that often.

I am getting chewelry though, and I'm hoping that will be useful for redirecting an annoying stim of mine which is chewing my nails.

My favourite stim is pacing, though I am partial to rubbing my fingers and thumbs against each other, hand flapping, leg bouncing, and rubbing my tongue against my teeth and pushing air around my mouth.

i need a mouth/chewing/tongue stim with a moving part. it needs to be safe to put in my mouth (in terms of no poisoning or microplastics, swallowing not a problem because i will put it on a necklace) but chewing silicone just doesn’t meet my needs. i need something harder that “clacks” when i put my teeth on it and preferably moves like on an axis. does anyone have any recommendations? preferably uk based business because that’s where i am but i will wait and pay for postage if the perfect thing is elsewhere.

I too was once scouring the internet just after realizing I was autistic, but turning up what was mainly the blogs of "autism moms". Not exactly was I was looking for since they're weird and actually autistic adults and teens are not their target audience. So if you are finding yourself unsure where to look or what's actually good, I hope you enjoy this list!

funkyfidgetsshop.co.uk - this site has a lot of very reasonably priced and high quality fidgets and sweets. my favorites are their moon & stars stress ball, Needoh nice cube, and textured sensory ring. items listed include ones that are silent & classroom/workplace friendly, and ones that make noise.

tanglecreations.com - a well loved classic, the variety of tangles is very good! I am obsessed with the textured series, hairy tangle, and infinity pearl aqua. visually stunning options as well as lots of different textures and feels for different sensory needs. pretty silent and safe for school or work as well.

harkla.co - the sensory sock they make is widely well reviewed, as well as coming in child and adult sizes. a great addition to a reading nook, as you can cocoon yourself inside if so desired.

us.loopearplugs.com - I definitely recommend these and love the pair I own. with a wide range of noise cancelling/muting ranges and colors to pick from, these are great. I have the quiet loops and appreciate the soft silicone material, this makes it so I can sleep with them in.
