was talking about this with friends but i also think having a good sense of when a story is headed in a direction you don't like is important for three reasons:
It helps you practice critical thinking skills / viewing something from a more objective and perhaps realistic lens. I have shows / stuff where even though I thought a story/plot decision or ship was a bad idea and it wasn't my preference, and even when I thought another story decision might make more sense, I was still able to recognize that "hey, this story is most likely going to go in this direction because of xyz" / setup and framing
This also means you can have an easier time leaving and/or getting out of a story when it begins to disappoint you / it can help build realistic expectations regarding the material in order for you to have a better time if you do stay.
And most importantly, perhaps, it just makes it all the more rewarding and exciting when you recognize a story is going in same the direction that you've hoped it would, because that is chef's kiss lemme tell you

Fox Flavour AotC
Continuation of my bullshit from here going through events of Episode II and then into TCW.
Kitsune!Anakin changing between fox and human form due to stress would make AotC very funny actually. Just randomly poofing out into a smol fox during his mission to protect Padme to the point where she usually just carries him.
Anakin: The Audacity Also Anakin: Pretty lady is carrying me? Crush is holding me???
I’m picturing the first time they meet again after ten years and it’s still a trainwreck but in a different way. Anakin is nervous to see her again, momentarily forgetting about the ears sticking out the top of his head that are just going haywire trying to pick up any and all sounds. Obi-Wan’s ‘relax’ comment does about as much good as it does in canon, except he’s finding the very obvious tells funny rather than irritating, and then they actually see Padme.
"Ani? Look how much you've gro- are those fox ears?" The entire conversation just gets completely derailed and suddenly Anakin is very tired. Any and every potential thing he had ready to say to her just evaporates because right, the Kitsune thing.
"Oh. Yeah, they're- new." Obviously. Obi-Wan is trying valiantly not to facepalm but also offering zero assistance.
"Can- Can I?" Padme asks, lifting a hand up to his head, her intent to touch very clear but waiting for permission. Yes, she’s a Senator and probably has more decorum than this, usually, but the guy she hasn’t seen since he was nine now has a pair of fluffy fox ears poking out of his hair (That haircut is doing nothing for him).
Anakin is stuck between being horrendously hormone driven right now and wanting to ignore any and all changes he's undergone. Still, it’s Padme and he knows she’s just curious, like she was when asking naive questions on Tatooine a decade ago.
He leans down to let her pet his ears and Obi-Wan is this close to being catty. Something something 'you didn't let me touch your ears that fast'. But he is a saint and holds his tongue, for now.
"Oh! You have tails too?" Padme is intrigued, and already the hand that was bending his ears is now starting to move downward before she’s even properly thought about what she’s doing.
Anakin is a bit too dazed to pay attention to what she's doing either so Obi-Wan clears his throat and reminds the Senator of the reason for their presence before her hand could make contact.
He knows from experience already that Anakin is particular about the tails. The ears he will begrudgingly allow certain people to touch - a group which, apparently, includes the Senator - but the tails are strictly off limits. Despite how eager he'd been a minute ago to be near her, Anakin now looks rather relieved that there was some space between them.
He really does not like his tails being touched.
Suffice to say any chance at romantic Anidala gets blown clean out of the water. His attention is a bit too split on his recent transformation to truly hone in on Padme. Padme can also see how badly this has affected him and decides what he needs is a friend rather than a lover. She was the one to propose after all, so in this AU she boxes that impulse away.
GOD his ability to transform could even be a bonus to his guarding duty (watch me make this the Star Wars version of Dragon Knight ffs). His being a tiny fox most of the time would mean Padme doesn't feel/look actively guarded BUT there is a ball of pent up aggression just waiting for an opportunity to strike.
Trying to think how this would play out with his mother and the Tuskens. I considered him skipping some tail levels to just go straight into Full Grown Kitsune out of a vengeance fulled rage. Then I thought about Anakin finding his mother, watching her die, and then becoming so stressed he goes TINY. Maybe Padme went with him because she knows he's not gonna like what he finds and will need help and he's clearly not emotionally stable with how often he keeps changing form. So she's there to grab him and shake him out of it.
But then I thought OH FUCK what if his constantly changing means Padme notices his stress over his dreams way quicker. She insists on going to Tatooine days earlier, plus she'd also like to see Shmi again. So they find her ALIVE instead. Anakin's entire brain focuses on getting her the fuck out of dodge and its only the guards that come after them that end up dead. Perhaps the rest of the tribe see Angry Fox Man and go 'hmm maybe not'. I'm pretty sure Palpatine bribed them to kidnap Shmi and they did that so they have no desire to go chasing this monstrosity across the desert thank you very much. He leaves the encounter with vengeance and protectiveness warring in his brain and he tells absolutely fucking no-one (get bent Sheev). Padme would also be liable instead of just him if anyone found out.
The experience brings them closer together as friends and since they went early there is time to help Shmi heal before they get the call from Obi-Wan. Shmi has some words for her son about all that business in the desert once she’s better. Fox Ear pinching included, to which she took remarkably well.
She had always known her son was special - on account of the immaculate conception if nothing else - so she just accepts that this must be another part of him that’s starting to come through. Anakin rather likes that explanation so he doesn’t correct her on how he transformed. He also doesn’t complain when she insists on brushing his tails because they are ‘incredibly untidy’. Padme: Momma’s boy Anakin: >:( Padme: >:)
Then it’s off to Geonosis for the arena fight, which probably goes about the same except Anakin can now turn into a tiny two-tailed fox in a fit of stress to get out of his bindings and dodge the angry Reek. He’s not very good at climbing though or he’d have copied Padme. Dooku has a few comments to make about Anakin’s appearance because he’s pretty sure he did not come to the Temple looking like that so how did that happen? The man is very good at riling Anakin up though and the new appendages are sore spots which Dooku takes advantage of. The fight with Dooku proceeds about as expected.
Anakin gets his ass kicked. Arm comes off. Another tail pops into existence.
“Oh, I’m going to get more of these things? Damn it.”
The Clone Wars begin.
Tbh the main bulk of this AU is set during the Clone Wars because this is undoubtedly gonna be Rexwalker. That ship has come for me with an iron grip. He's not married to Padme, but they are friends who occasionally fool around for fun and stress relief. They still find each other very attractive but Padme didn't propose so he hasn’t got this huge secret to keep (which probably means he’s less stressed). War breaks out and Anakin is introduced to Rex, who just does not bat an eye at the fox appendages at all. He does find it useful for gauging Anakin’s moods in the early days though because he still can’t control them and his General never fucking admits to being in less than optimal condition.
The potential for pining is unreal. Bromance turned romance that neither of them can act on because ouch that imbalance of power concern. While Rex trusts Anakin not to abuse his rank, Anakin is really uncomfortable with the idea that Rex would just do whatever he’s been asked to do. He wants to know that Rex is doing something because he 100% wants to, with absolutely no doubts. He’ll just wait for the war to be over, bother Padme incessantly for the clones to be recognised as citizens in the senate and then … leave the order? He supposes he would have to if he wanted to be with Rex.
I just want Anakin to do that thing male foxes do when they spot a potential mate - target acquired - but it’s at Rex when he is being unfairly competent on the battlefield. Ahsoka is tired but rooting for them. The whole ‘we’re just friends’ spiel is actually true when Obi-Wan confronts him about it but BOY do Anakin and Rex wish that wasn’t the case.
I don’t ever write pining so I’m very invested in this AU right now.

A single thread in a tapestry Though its color brightly shine Can never see its purpose In the pattern of the grand design And the stone that sits on the very top Of the mountain's mighty face Does it think it's more important Than the stones that form the base?
So how can you see what your life is worth Or where your value lies? You can never see through the eyes of man You must look at your life Look at your life through Heaven's eyes
A lake of gold in the desert sand Is less than a cool fresh spring And to one lost sheep, a shepherd boy Is greater than the richest king If a man lose ev'rything he owns Has he truly lost his worth? Or is it the beginning Of a new and brighter birth?
So how do you measure the worth of a man? In wealth or strength or size? In how much he gained or how much he gave? The answer will come The answer will come to him who tries To look at his life through Heaven's eyes
And that's why we share all we have with you Though there's little to be found When all you've got is nothing There's a lot to go around No life can escape being blown about By the winds of change and chance And though you never know all the steps You must learn to join the dance You must learn to join the dance
So how do you judge what a man is worth? By what he builds or buys?
You can never see with your eyes on Earth Look through Heaven's eyes Look at your life, look at your life Look at your life through Heaven's eyes

listen, I know in my bones it’s setting us up for death or purge trooper Crosshair - the dark armor, the experimentation, the fact the scientists don’t know the bad batch is even alive, the zillo clone being researched for its armor quality, not to mention the resemblance to the purge trooper commander from jfo - not as big but still something that’s itching at me
but god my dream is for Scorch to come to his senses, find some compassion or maybe just pity for Crosshair as a brother feeling left behind (something something he left Sev behind and his own regrets something idk) and they get the hell out of dodge. please can it just be Scorch pulling a prison break and getting them out of there

Star Wars: Clone Wars AU idea that popped into my head and won’t leave. Maybe someday I’ll have the motivation to actually write a fic about it, but for now I’m just putting it out into the world:
What if, late enough into the war that the clones have all bonded pretty strongly with the Jedi, but not so late that they’re into Sidious’ endgame, the clones become aware of the chips in their heads, and what they could be forced to do. They catch onto Sidious’ plan to have them kill the Jedi, wiping them out in one fell swoop, and are naturally horrified. It’s bad enough that the war is slowly whittling down the Jedi’s numbers, no matter how hard the clones have been trying to keep them safe, but to know that they were meant as a trap? It’s almost unthinkable.
(Maybe Tup’s chip malfunctions earlier than in canon. Maybe early enough that it can be removed without killing him, before he actually harms anyone. This AU is already going to be self-indulgent enough, why not say that’s what happens, and that’s how they find out)
So the clones realize that Sidious is going to use them to kill their Jedi, and while getting the chips out of their heads is of course the ideal solution to this problem, they’re worried about tipping off Sidious that they’re onto them. They need to come up with another plan, some sort of distraction, something to buy them time.
That’s when it hits Cody that they can kill two birds with one stone. They can get Sidious off of their backs, while simultaneously getting the Jedi away from the war, with one single crazy plan; fake Order 66. They will act as if Order 66 somehow got activated early, and “kill” all of the Jedi, thus removing them from the war and Sidious’ plans. After this long into the war, the Jedi’s numbers have dropped to several thousand, which could probably all be safely sustained on a single suitable planet. Cody has some of his best scouts start searching for a planet for them to stash the Jedi safely away, and then starts planning Operation: Daybreak.
Planning is difficult. Somehow they have to fake the deaths of several thousand beings, simultaneously, without tipping off their plans to the Sith. The Jedi in the field are easy enough to figure out (i.e. how Order 66 initially went down), but the Jedi in the Temples, and away from the fighting are much more difficult. And there’s one further complication: they can’t actually warn the Jedi what they’re doing, as they need the Jedi’s reactions to be as realistic as possible to sell their plan. Several brothers object, but as Cody points out, at least the Jedi will still be alive to be mad at them after.
Despite these difficulties, their plan somehow goes off without a hitch. It’s an awful day, and the feelings of hurt, horror, and betrayal radiating off of every single Jedi is strong enough that it echoes throughout the galaxy, making Operation: Daybreak even more realistic. Getting the “bodies” off of Coruscant, along with anything of value that the clones are able to sneak out of the Temple, is genuinely the hardest part of the plan, and there’s a tense moment when the Chancellor demands that he go see what has happened at the Temple and try to provide “help” but somehow Fox manages to convince him to let the clones deal with the clean up. The Commander of the Coruscant Guard comes out of that meeting with the shakes and his blacks absolutely soaked with sweat from the stress, but he manages to avert disaster.
The next day, when the first Jedi start to wake up from being transported to their new haven, is almost as bad as Operation: Daybreak. They’re angry, understandably so, but when the clones explain what happened, why they did what they did, they find they can’t argue. The clones put so much on the line to enact this plan, to sabotage it now would be foolish. Despite this, many of the Jedi are left feeling wary of their men, upset with being hidden away when others are out there suffering.
But now the clones have time. Sidious is busy managing the Senate, who haven’t quite become anti-Jedi enough yet for them to be declared traitors without opposition. Sidious also doesn’t have the same level of power as he should have towards the end of the war, so he can’t just sweep the whole thing under the rug either. And while the clones ‘malfunctioning’ has put a target on their backs, the war hasn’t suddenly ended because the Jedi are gone, so the clones are still needed. They’re safe for now. Well, as safe as they can be in a war where suddenly all of their Generals are “dead” and the chain of command has kind of exploded.
It’s a messy couple of weeks post-Operation: Daybreak, which means no one notices every single clone going through a mandatory operation that leaves tiny white scars on the sides of their heads.
I’ll be honest, I’m not entirely sure where the AU could go from here. Obviously there’s the war that needs ending. Maybe now that they’re free of Senate influence, the Jedi are able to track down Grievous and Dooku, put an end to them, and then open negotiations with the Separatist leaders. Maybe with Sidious’ plans activating too early, the Senate turns on him and he’s actually ousted from power through completely legal means.
(He’d still go all Sith-crazy and try to take control that way, though, that goes without saying. Fox sees it coming, though. He can be the one to shoot Palpatine and save the day, as a treat).
Either way, peace is restored to the galaxy, and the Jedi are safe and free to decide if they want to return to the Republic that was using them and abusing them, or if they’d like to start fresh. And maybe, after seeing what the clones were willing to do to protect them, after coming to terms with what could have happen, a tentative trust begins to develop between clones and Jedi again. It’s not perfect, the whole galaxy has a lot of healing and repairing to do, but now they have the time to do it.
And that’s all I’ve got. Ta-da!

simply INCANDESCENT with rage over the way w*dnesday is so soullessly profitable.
FIRST: the way Wednesday herself has been scrubbed of all personality to be an edgy audience insert. Far be it from me to shame people for their enjoyment of a Mary Sue but do it to your original character at least. Don’t make an audience insert and hold it up as the same character as you had before.
SECOND: the way both girls in the show (and correct me if I am wrong, but there are ONLY two girls plus a hated mother character) are both Manic Pixie Dream girls but to different aesthetic extremes. With all the lack of agency that entails. I doubt Wednesday is the one moving the plot if she’s being (narratively) treated like that. And she’s the goddamn main character.
THIRD: the uncomfortable pauses after Wednesday says something just barely abnormal that you can just TELL are there for audience laughter. The absence of the laugh track was a choice but it wasn’t a choice that gives me less to criticize. At least if you were blatantly hateful you wouldn’t fool people like this.
FOURTH: the uncomfortable and clearly performative wokeness. ‘Don’t make the character talk like they’re getting a good grade in therapy’ absolutely applies here. The way you are dropping these buzzwords and then making them mean NOTHING is sooo bad.
FIFTH: you really went for the ‘hated mother figure’ trope? IN THIS MEDIA??? Where the original joke was that the Addams were the healthy family compared to the normies?? That’s cheap. That’s low. That’s distressingly Freudian.
SIXTH: I’ve heard Gomez is arrested on no evidence. There’s a way you can write it so that the cops taking the Latino man to jail on no evidence is anti cop but I’m going to take a guess based on what I know of Tim burton and say that’s not what happened.
SEVENTH: congratulations Tim burton for sucking it up and putting one (1) black character in there. Next actually write him a non-racist plot line.
EIGHTH: the way this show has been out for what a month? and is already six tiktok trends really says something about marketability in the age of social media. shows have learned how to bank on their fandoms and now how to manufacture a fandom. This is a show for the influencers and nostalgia to sell and Netflix to reap the benefit of.
NINTH: I doubt there has ever been a clearer case of commodification of a subculture. The way goth is used as a set dressing in this show is almost as sad as the way character names are used as a set dressing.

Do you think reylo is a Soulmate "only love very thing"? Or could it have worked wirh them having different patners or ending up alone
Ahhh, anon, I see you're a new visitor to my blog lol
I have the most immovable, uncompromising 'this is a fairy tale, it is the salvific, transcendent, world-saving true love of two trembling virgins whose profound kinship is based in compassion and who gently touched each other's souls across oceans of space, forming an irrevocable spiritual bond' take imaginable on reylo. To say nothing of the Star Wars of it all and how that requires a giant, mythic, unconditional love conquers all conclusion affirming the themes of the saga.
It can't and didn't work unless they end up together.

☁️ On Relapse ☁️
you did something you knew you shouldn't do. You skipped a meal. You body checked. You re-downloaded tumblr. On purpose, because you knew, deep down, how good it would feel.
And it. felt. GOOD. And in that moment, something...shifted. Magnetically clicking into place. You feel the longing. Ana wraps you in a blanket and says "you missed this, didn't you. That must have been hard. Come on back. It's never too late to be t__n."
And you forget, hypnotized by the images of yourself... finally at the finish line... Finally beautiful... Finally perfect... You forget, for a moment, that her endgame is your death.
And we don't talk enough about how warm, and comfortable, and euphoric her arms can be after all of that time apart. Like a drug. Like, they don't tell you in fucking High School health class - the real reason drugs, and ⭐ving, are so, so dangerous is because of how FUCKING GOOD they feel. 'cause your teacher isn't gonna stand there and tell you "Don't do this thing, but just so you know, it feels like heaven and you'll want to do it forever."
I'm older than a lot of people here but I'm still coming back to it. After all of these years in treatment. Everything I learned. Everything I worked through. And I just can't let it go. Year after year of my we!ght going up, down, up, down, and coming back here over and over again. Now I've lost 50lbs in the last year, again, and I'm not stopping.
But you know what... I never, not once, ever hit my ultimate goal. And you know what else?
That fucking bothers me.
So I'm so, so sorry, to myself, for being back. For posting these pictures. For normalizing this. For knowing that this blog is wrong for me and not being able to let it go. I don't want to be back here. And it's sad. And it sucks. But it's too late now.
Half of my life. 15 years of ED. I'm losing the final 15 pounds.

Transferring this post from twitter, with some edits and additions, because the mess that was the development of the sequel trilogy fascinates me on an extremely deep level
Okay so. You’re probably aware that Adam Driver gave an interview a few weeks ago where he said that the original plan for Kylo in the sequel trilogy was to get progressively eviler throughout. Which I’m not here for redemption vs corruption arc discourse, that’s not what this post is (because I prefer a secret third option), and what I want to dig into here is what makes this an incredibly curious statement
Because this is the first time anyone involved with the ST has mentioned there ever being a plan. So, let’s explore that for a second because why is he saying something that’s completely at odds with every other piece of information we have?
(behind a cut for length, as I went and pulled a bunch of interview quotes and other materials and then analyzed them, you can scroll to the very bottom for my conclusions if you like)
So first, I went and found this, which I purchased many many years ago in 2017
Tumblr media
In it, an interview with RJ himself confirms what the story has been for a long time: there was no plan, there was no required plot points, no endgame to lead to, just absolute freedom (I recall reading this then and feeling a spark of confusion and concern - what do you mean there was no plan?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also found this, and while I don’t have the TLJ art book to verify it, another person on twitter confirmed it and also advised that RJ was even in the know regarding the Aftermath series (confirmed by him and Chuck Wendig at a convention) - so he knew a lot. And this plus the above shows that if there was a plan, it was abandoned before TFA was even released, likely even before it finished filming
Tumblr media
And then we have the rather well known moment when JJ himself pretty much confirmed that the ST should have had a plan (question asked was about sw, even if JJ didn’t say it himself). Could this be shade at abandoning a plan instead of never having one? Maybe. But it’s unclear
Tumblr media
And as our last piece of evidence, we have confirmation from RJ that he asked JJ to change the ending of TFA. Which once again shows TFA was not finished when RJ, who explicitly said he was given no plan to follow, was writing TLJ
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that was the story all along, confirmed multiple times over. We can say for sure that as of the writing for TLJ being started, which was before TFA was even finished, let alone released, there was no plan. So it is certain that if there ever was a plan, that plan was abandoned at the very latest in early 2015, but I suspect 2014 is more likely
So why would AD say there ever was one? He has no reason to lie and I don’t think he is, he has nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing so. But with so many other pieces of evidence directly contradicting what he’s saying, I think we can also say that RJ is telling the truth too. But how can both be true?
Well, knowing the mess that is d/lf and also how disney treats actors I think it’s one of two possibilities:
Option 1: there was indeed a plan, likely pitched by JJ himself, and that d/lf agreed to that plan with no intention of ever following it through. They sold the actors on the plan, telling them it was a capital P Plan, but then didn’t ever tell them it had stopped being the plan, so that’s also why we saw the actors becoming increasingly frustrated throughout the series. They were told there was a plan, what the plan was, and then watched none of that come to fruition because it had secretly been abandoned long ago without their knowledge. It’s extremely scummy, but I could see disney doing it
Option 2: the plan was never a firm capital P Plan but rather was just the initial concept JJ had. No one ever committed to it, but since the actors couldn’t see the script, JJ’s initial vision was used as a “here’s my concept” kind of thing to sell the actors on without it being a firm plan. Just a concept that was used at the time but later discarded, as I’m sure a good number of concepts were. But it would be easy for that to get misinterpreted by the actors, and this gives us the less scummy option on the mouse’s part because it’s more about miscommunication than anything else
And if it is option 2, it’s also possible that the actors did know it wasn’t an confirmed plan, just a concept, but clung to those concepts since they were all they had. Which I can understand, given that not knowing the eventual story makes their jobs harder. I can totally see AD sticking with that initial concept even if he knew it wasn’t a “plan” per se, because he had literally nothing else to go on and he needed something to play the role. And once again, given how increasingly frustrated the cast got over the course of the trilogy, I suspect this experience would have been shared among the whole cast
Overall, I lean towards option 2 on this, because even though I do think disney is pretty fucking evil, option 1 might actually be a contract violation or at least open up the possibility of one. And plus, the entire story group would have had to be in on it, and if they did straight up knowingly lie to the entire cast and JJ, I just feel like that would be something which that many people can’t keep secret (plus wouldn’t RJ have accidentally spilled the beans when talking to JJ? Or was he in on it too? Too many players imo). I know it’s disney, but still, things leak all the time (as those of us who followed the tfa or tros leaks know lmao). Plus, I do agree with the adage of assuming stupidity over overt malice when in doubt, so I’m going to stick with that here
So ultimately, my suspicion is this was never a true, capital P, confirmed Plan, but rather the initial concept they used in place of a real plan (which they never made) because d/lf had nothing else to use to sell the actors on it and the actors had nothing else to cling to when actually playing the characters, so they used it where they needed gaps filled. And with it being more likely just a vague concept that was never committed to and was abandoned in 2014 than anything else, well, no matter how good or bad it might have been, I don’t even think it’s worth considering as something we ever would have gotten. It clearly wasn’t in the stars (ha) from very early on and thus belongs in the pile with the rest of the surely very numerous concepts that never came to fruition
And this, kids, is why trilogies need to be fucking planned lmfao
