HI! Can you tell I’m excited? Well I’m very excited! I have been stuck in SunaOsa hell for the longest time and I enjoy it very much down here :D Come join me, you won’t regret it LOL. But seriously, I love SunaOsa and I meant to do fics, but then the sheer number of writers I had compelled me to make a post for them ahahah.... I’m here to finally prove to everyone that I am actually in love with SunaOsa and that I have not been lying to you all LOL (ik no one actually cares, but it’s an important matter to me). LEGGO!

Where Osamu and Atsumu are separated due to necessity over anything else really, and both absolutely hate their partners :) I love their interactions as the fic progresses and how do you accidentally fck somebody? READ TAGS AND WARNINGS, SMUT!

tookumade // because I really can’t rerecommend the same mf fic for the 2384230 time (and cause this one deserves some love), colours in the dark by tookumade (G) 1.3k // an injury recovery fic :D The focus on the fic is on the recovery and the relationship more than anything, but I just love it so much! This is such a comfort fic, and I love their back and forth banter (but it’ll make you feel really single LOL).

rosegoldwriting // sjdkhjdslhf I CAN’T BELIEVE I HAVEN’T RECOMMENDED THIS ONE ANYWHERE WHAT come on with the rain by rosegoldwriting (T) 6.5k // SOULMATE AUUUU! I love my soulmate AUs and this was no exception :D Also I love singing in the rain (it’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but ik it’s a great movie), and ngl I agreed with Suna,,,, kissing in the rain just feels like it’ll be wet... Regardless, I love the ending and I love this fic too so :) (also ryan gosling cameo LOL)

bastigod // A COLLECTION OF FICS cause I love them and I haven’t recommended this yet :0, i've got you in the end i wish i had you from the start by bastigod (T) 8.2k // this is a collection of 7 one shots for sunaosa week! I loved the prompts for that week, and I loved each and every single fic on this list :D They’re all so freaking good and my favorite chapter was ch 3 hands down ljdfadjsf it’s GREAT :D

pancake_surprise // CAUSE CHOCOLATE and honestly the dove wrappers are say some stupid things sometimes like who’s writing these LMFAO, Melt with You by pancake_surprise (G) 2.8k // Osamu is doing what any sane person does with dove chocolate advice, he follows it. Not that it has any good advice, but I mean ig it worked? Trust the process? Anyway, I agreed with Atsumu in this (LOL) but hey it ended cute and I think that’s all that matters :’)

badreputation // OKAY THERE’S ONLY TWO BUT I LOVE BOTH WHAT YOU GONNA DO? FIGHT ME?????? (pls don’t, I’ll lose) Take a hint by badreputation (T) 5.4k // UGH I LOVE THIS ONE! One of the first SunaOsa fics I read and one I keep rereading! I absolutely agree with the fact that Osamu is a Neanderthal and I love food as a love language (feeding me would make me swoon over you, however, if you WERE flirting with me, I would not know LMFAO).

minie_ai // again, only two but like I said what you gonna do about it >:( And I'll Feed You Again by minie_ai (G) 7.3k // MYTHOLOGY cause Suna is a cute fox who causes problems LOL. Also, I love the setting it’s in (ik random, but I wanted to put it out there :D). And SPAM NUMBER made me laugh (maybe my humor is a little too broken) but idk I just thought it was really funny akjshflkjasd.

miyarinnnn // PLEASE not everyone clowning them,,,, someone smack off the stupid grin I have on from reading it :)))) Call it passive or aggressive by miyarinnnn (T) 10.4k // OMG this fic was so much fun to read!!!! I loved how there was the Osamu + Omi bonding moment and the BONUS AT THE END AOSFJOIAS,,,,, There’s like a slight smut scene, but other than that, Osamu is the sappiest man ever. Yeah, it was really funny and cute and I had a great time reading it :D

sketchedsmiles // honestly, I have no words because I was like no way this would happen, but then the a/n and yea anyway double vision by sketchedsmiles (T) 18.3k // I do wanna know how this worked irl, but that’s beside the point LOL. This is why communication is key, but I mean ig I can’t really blame Suna LMFAO. The situations are just tailored so well to misunderstandings and every time is a near miss :’))))). But also shout out to beer pong king Osamu LOL.

sieges // parallax if you want some hanahaki, the art of keeping up by sieges (T) 12.3k // I actually did watch this movie (though you don’t need to in order to read this LOL) and I was really surprised cause I didn’t think anyone would’ve made a fic based on it! Honestly, I don’t think I would ever be able to agree to help my crush write a love letter to their crush, so props to Suna (lol maybe I’m just lame like that okay?) :’D

sifuhotman // even if you don’t wanna read it, go look at the photo at the very end, Paint by Numbers by sifuhotman (T) 5.3k // jealous Osamu because Suna stares at Atsumu LOL. BUT the discount combee comment make me cackle because I CAN SEE IT AJFKAFFJSA (esp with the picture provided, it’s been burned onto my brain). I like this fic because it has some cute twin moments and I love their relationship! (BUT THE COMBEE AFIOJOD.)

SilverMoonT // I love his cat, atypical confession by SilverMoonT (G) 15.5k // I’ve said this before, but I’m not a big fan of body switching fics. HOWEVER, I am a big fan of this,,, say what you want idc idc it’s a good fic. I love the Suna Akaashi best friend agenda in this, and I fully support it :D

spiritscript // I almost sent you all to angst town ahahah,,, maybe I should LOL,,,, two drinks by spiritscript (T) 4k // I saw the instagram post and then OF COURSE I had to come read the fic itself! And like the panic ordering is hilarious as well as the misunderstandings LOL. It’s a wild ride with a lotta coffee Suna doesn’t like LOL. BUT THE ENDING IS CUTE and no kiss kiss cause consent is important :)

lunarins // YES I LOVE THIS ONE JKASJD you taste like strawberries on a summer evening by lunarins (T) 4.4k // I LOVE THIS ONE! I adore all the character cameos that happen (POOR SHIRABU) and THE ENDING AJHFKSJA. I love the ending. Also the food explanation by the writer was really cute and creative!!! (and I love how Osamu tells us what love taste like JADSJK!)

unrequitedangst // 3 fics but I love them all, working backwards till it rhymes by unrequitedangst (T) 4.2k // I love this fic, like loveeee. The plot is funny (I love pushing in the right direction to figure things out) and the way they plot against Atsumu is hilarious. Like gotta make sure that this makes him angry, yes.

sunablinks // there’s also only 3 fics so you should read all three :D, Cherry Bomb by sunablinks (T) 5.4k // CHECK TAGS AND WARNINGS cause they drink a lotta alcohol! But this fic is just Osamu being a mess and everyone makes some very bad decisions. Also, poor Meian san having to dead with their poor decision making skills LOL.

Surprisingly enough this didn’t take that long...... Like I think this is the fastest I’ve ever made a list,,,, Anyways, revelations aside, I had a lotta fun making this list cause like I’ve been saying, I’m in love with SunaOsa. They also definitely have some of the MOST tooth rotting fics I’ve ever read before (physical pain because of the fluff), so if you’re into that, you don’t have to look too far :)

Also sorry for not being super active in terms of new content, but this might continue through next week cause I’m getting busier :( Hopefully not though!

okay so the lovely @imbicilite / @whitrph and i were talking and it gave me the idea and we thought it was a great idea to spread it around so here’s how it goes: when talking with someone about pretty much anything tbh, but especially for something that could potentially be triggering, communicate with color codes based on city traffic lights ! GREEN means it’s good to talk about these things and you’re not feeling triggered by the topic, YELLOW means to slow down or stop talking about the topic at for now while RED means to stop the conversation about the topic immediately until green again where the conversation can divert into another topic or they feel safe to talk about it again !! this is EXTREMELY important, because it’s a way to alert others that you’re going to be talking about something that could possibly upset someone because of the subject matter, especially for those who may get triggered by a certain topic - even without you realizing it because squicks and triggers can honestly be anything, it could be different words or phrases or certain topics - and can cause severe anxiety in those affected, even panic attacks or flashbacks, and because we want to be considerate and respectful towards one another, it’s important that we use these to help our friends and fellow rpers know that we’re going to be posting or talking about something they might not want to see or talk about, and it’s of utmost importance to make them feel safe, it’s best to use this to be a more supportive friend and a member of the rpc!!

on a sidenote, i’m also here to tell you about tone indicators !! keep in mind that i didn’t come up with nor invent the concept of tone tags itself, but it was being spread around for a while now and i’d figured i’d talk about it !! essentially, tone indicators are used to indicate if the person is joking, being serious, etc., neurodivergent people often have trouble conveying and understanding emotion and tone through written text, using tone indicators is really helpful for neurodivergent people to make it easier for them to read/convey, it is also very helpful for people with anxiety. i encourage anyone who reads this to also type the meaning of the tone tag ( i.e: i love you !! /p for platonic ), so it is more accessible for neurodivergent and disabled people, like those who use screen readers.

“why should we use tone tags?” one might ask, but as an autistic, disabled and otherwise neurodivergent person myself, sometimes i don’t always get my friends and fellow mutual’s tones by their message but when they use tone indicators, it helps me understand and, not to mention that it can be really helpful and avoid misunderstandings. i would also like to note that NOT ALL neurodivergent people want you to use tone indicators on them, so if they don’t want you to use tone tags on them, please respect their wishes.

“i don’t like tone tags!” one might add, well, okay... but don’t make fun of the people that use them, it’s not a big deal, and if you’re a neurotypical who insists on not using tone tags when a neurodivergent person clearly asked you to, get your head out of your ass.

“using /j at the end of a joke ruins it!!” one might bitch, and okay but... it might be ruined for you, but it still makes me laugh, personally, so please try and get used to it, and not to mention, what’s more important: making sure you’re clear with your tone so that there’s no misunderstandings or throwing a fit just because the joke’s ruined for you?

additionally, some other things to keep in mind !! please do not mock the use of tone tags, you may not need them but some people do, not everyone can tell when something is a joke, when someone’s either being platonic, romantic or sexual in intentions, etc.,, especially when there’s no visual cues or tones of voice to help us, just be nice about it, it’s... really not hard, man. if you don’t use a tone tag and someone reads the tone of your statement incorrectly, do not get upset with them or laugh at them for not getting it - that is perpetuating ableism and/or sanism, whether you intentionally intend it or not. just kindly clarify and next time, keep in mind that tone tags are very helpful for neurodivergent, disabled and people with anxiety disorders. using a tone tag isn’t an excuse to be mean either, you can’t just say something mean or not cool and then put /j ( “joking” ) after it to get away with it, don’t be an ass. if you’re saying something that could be anxiety inducing for others, i would highly recommend putting the tone tags at not only the end but also the beginning of that post. do not intentionally use tone tags incorrectly “as a joke”, to confuse people, etc., the entire point of tone tags is to clarify, not confuse people, if you intentionally use them incorrectly, you’re an ass. keep in mind that no one has to use all the tone tags, use what you’d like, respect others who use what they would like, use them however feels rights to you. for me personally, sometimes i use multiple, sometimes only one, or sometimes none at all, just do what feels right, depending on who i’m talking to and how long i’ve known this person or group of people i’m speaking to, it’ll be fine, and if someone asks for clarification on what you mean, that’s okay, kindly clarify for them. additionally, please be patient if people don’t know what tone tags are, someone might not even be aware of what they are and that’s not their fault, just patiently explain it to them or link them to a source !! education always helps !! please don’t use “/srs or serious” as a joke, some neurodivergent and/or disabled people don’t need you to use three tone tags, and in my case, i’m presuming you’re neurotypical if you’re doing that when conversing with me, but what i’m trying to say is it looks like you’re babying us neurodivergents / disabled folx, so try to use only two tags ( that is, if that person is okay with it !! ), because some people don’t need you to use three tags.

please note that the following aren’t every single example out there and there are different terminologies in different languages, but they are important, a few examples of these are:

“/j = joking / used when saying something in a joking manner, “so im pretty much the president of oreos /j”,

“/hj = half joking / used when saying something that’s kind of a joke but kind of serious / “well,,,,, im usually right /hj” /

“/s or /sarc / refers to the opposite of what you really want to say / “i just [clenches fists] love...... being sad..... /s”,

“/srs / used when saying something you really mean / “i really appreciate you /srs””,

“/nsrs = not serious / used when saying something not too seriously / “you’re the worst /nsrs”,

“/lh = lighthearted = used when something’s said lightheartedly / “hEY LEAVE ME OUT OF THIS /lh” / i’d say something like this when me and my friends would get into a silly argument and they’re trying to ask my opinion on a topic”,

“/ij = referring to something that’s only understood by people with special knowledge about something, typically only a small group of friends or a group of people would be aware of, those outside of the group would most likely be confused by it or not find it funny in the same way people within in the group would / “aAAAAAAAAA MY NUGGIES!!!!! /ij””,

“/ref = a reference to media, usually movies, tv, music, etc., “yOU SHALL NOT PAAAAAAAASSSSSSS /ref”,

“/t = teasing, use when teasing someone or provoking someone, often playfully, “aiight sure mx idk wtf im doin /t”,

“nm = not mad, to indicate you’re not actually mad or upset about something / “ow... i felt that /nm”,

“lu = a little upset / used when about about something or someone, but not too upset / “oh... that sucks /lu”,

“/nbh = “nobody here” = often used when talking about something vague to ensure your friends it’s not indirectly to or about them / “sometimes i just wanna..... tell someone to shut the fuck up /nbh”,

“/nay = not at you / used when saying something but not meaning it at the person you’re responding to / “god i can’t stand lame people /nay”,

“/ay = “at you”, make the person aware you’re addressing them”,

“/g or /gen = used when saying or asking something for real / “i’m proud of you /g” or “have you watched the news?? /gen”,

hey guys. not so happy annoucement this time, but bear with me

I have health issues that i need to focus on for now, so ive decided to leave the directory (a wandering ghost of a character around the ship doesn’t really help development of the directory you know??). i know it seems really sudden, but i wouldn’t leave like this if it wasnt really important for me to. I love everyone here, i love the story line, and i love watching everyone create these super detailed characters to drive along the plot.

however, im a pretty sappy person, so ive decided to write some personal goodbyes. some of you i didnt get to speak with on as regular of a basis, but i still read your stuff on dash and appreciated you creating a story and experiecing that passion second hand. without further hesitation...

@sysidereus you’re married to multiple people but i GUESS that’s fine. as long as im the number one wife, it’s okay. ;) I love talking to you, even if it’s unrelated to the directory or just random shit about tv shows like jane the virgin (i still wanna make that meme board including the entire crew of serenity). we vibe well, and you’re an incredible writer. sid has always been one of my favorite muses here, and the one thing i regret-- TWO things i regret are not being able to talk you as much, and not being able to see sol and sid become best friends but sorta gay. like naruto and sasuke. honestly i adore you, and i hope i see you around again.

I know you’ve been worrying about my disappearance acts for a while, but ill say it a hundred times over. you’re one of the best rp partners ive ever had. no contest, really. you’re incredibly sweet and wonderful, too. the plot between eph and sol is one of my favorite plots ive ever had, and I’ve had a LOT of plots, trust me. there’s nothing quite like finding a writer like you who i can trade headcanons back and forth so seamlessly until it becomes this story that’s bigger than i ever imagined. there is not one moment i regret logging in to send you a message, even just a quick one before i fell off the earth. i wish i had more time to develop the relationship between sol and ephraim. spoiler for you: Sol is in love with ephraim, and he has been since he left persephone. @kamorasy what’s funny is our characters always end up in brother/sister roles together. you have me on twitter, too, so we won’t lose contact, but you still get a sweet message from me because *clenches fists meme* I just love you that much. we knew each other from vanta black, too. and girl... your characters are like discovering treasure. so complex, well thought out, and experately played. we’re always able to headcanon w each other (altho for some reason we can never quite actually rp). but i never have a problem writing with you. it runs like clockwork. take care of yourself, okay? & if you ever need someone to drive away a strange man that hits on you, call me up

But you figured you would do yourself a favor and begrudgingly hold it out in the line that extends to almost the end of the street

He leads you to a cute little corner that gives you a nice little window view of the bustling streets

He gives you a menu once you’re seated and he’s like, “Okay, this is where I take off!!! Your main server will be with you shortly! If you need anything, just tap on this little bell!”

As he scurries away you’re just like :(((( why can’t you be my waiter flfjdldfskj wait I’m here for Jeonghan!!

You’re browsing through the menu and you’re appreciating all the aesthetics from the tableware to the graphics on the menu

You hear how the other waiters interact with their supporters customers as you’re waiting for yours and you could have sworn you heard Jeonghan’s name floating around

“What’s the special for today?”

“It’s the double chocolate cheesecake, honey~~”

A few minutes pass and you feel a presence nearing you and you casually brush it off as just a waiter passing by but oh boy!!!

You look up from the desserts page and see the face that you’ve been mustering up the courage to talk to for months

Okay, Anon…sorry this took awhile, been working on several things at one time…and then you hit me with this and I was like OMG YOU’RE GOING TO MAKE ME WANT TO START SOMETHING HERE.

I mean, I had an original fic of mine inspire this…and I lost control of it and I’m trying really hard to not make this a thing. And very AU because I’m not even following Japanese high school rules (they are really strict, man).

Also, Anon, I know you said fluffy…but to get to the fluff there has to be some sass and angst before the fluff comes in. :P And I just realized I don’t think I really have any fluff in this...but there would be if I had continued. Welp.

And, this is all messy, but again, I didn’t want to turn it into a fic…because probably all of this sucks, but whatever. YOU FED MY NISHITOU DESIRES…with no smut lmao.

~ Touka Kirishima, a sophomore, is a straight A student, but a bit of a loner who has pretty much nothing but contempt for her fellow peers. She keeps to herself and only hangs out with her best friend, Hinami Fueguchi. Her older brother, Ayato, a senior, is a bit of a rebel with a temper problem. He’s been secretly dating, Touka’s best friend, Hinami…a sophomore.

~ Nishiki Nishio, a senior, is a bit of a know it all who’s also pretty popular. Currently dating his chemistry lab partner, Kimi Nishino. He’s really good friends with, Ayato, and they’re often causing mischief.

~ They’ve known each other since they were kids, but have always teased one another. And as they grew up, the banter continued and intensified.

—Snippet of what it’s like between Nishiki and Touka—

One night, at the Kirishima household… [Touka’s POV]

I knew I should have been focusing on studying, I did have a pretty big full week of exam ahead of me, but the news had some interesting story to report on and it was quite gruesome. Ghouls, flesh eating monsters, had been making themselves more known in public. But while the news tried to put fear in the rest of us, I couldn’t help but be a little…fascinated.

“You clearly need to find new entertainment.” An all too familiar and annoyingly amused voice spoke from behind me. I didn’t bother to turn around because I knew who it was and I wasn’t sure I could stomach his face. Funny how I could stand watching the gory scenes of a ghoul’s aftermath on tv, but Nishiki Nishio’s face was my limit.

I let out an irritated sigh. “What would be more entertaining would be if one of those dead ghouls were replaced with you.”

“Even as a ghoul I’d still be too good looking to be killed off.” Nishiki answered, his voice showing he was even more amused than before.

“Not to me. I’d shoot you myself right now if it were legal.” I switched off the TV.

“You can’t kill a ghoul with a gun, you know.” He said with all amusement gone from his voice and replaced with a much more stern tone.

“You missed my point. I’d shoot you no matter what, if I could.” I turned around, looking at him unenthusiastically. “Why are you here?” I asked through slit eyes.

“I’m meeting your brother for…”

“No, I mean why are you here here, in my presence. Can’t you go wait somewhere else? Or better yet, shouldn’t you be entertaining whatsherface…?” I asked irritated. The slight frown on his face hinted that I insulted him because I pretended to not know his girlfriend’s name.

“Her name is Kimi.” He corrected me, shifting in his place slightly that I wasn’t sure was out of frustration or because he was uncomfortable. Either way I felt some satisfaction for getting under his skin a little bit.

“Does it look like I care?” I rolled my eyes as I stood up and walked around the couch, walking past Nishiki as I headed towards the kitchen.

Nishiki was following close behind me. No matter how nasty or sarcastic I was towards him he was like a fly that couldn’t be bothered. He lingered around and I was sure it was to make my life hell. Was this punishment for something?

“Well, whatever, I’m hanging out with your brother tonight.” He had to make that fact clear for whatever reason. I was trying to ignore him as I opened the fridge and grabbed a soda, slamming the door as Nishiki leaned his backside against the counter and crossed his arms. There was a smirk across his face, a smirk I so badly wanted to smack off him. “You know, you could tag along with us to have fun for once in your life.“

I started to laugh. Who did this guy think he was? “First of all, tag along only to be the unnecessary fifth wheel? No. And second, I’d rather have my insides eaten by a ghoul before I ever go anywhere with you.” Nishiki’s smirk only grew bigger. Goddamn him.

“Is that so? Because I can arrange for that to happen. I’d bet all my money on the ghoul.” He was chuckling and I could feel my right eye start to twitch.

“Keep testing me, Nishio, I swear to God you will regret it.” I spat.

It only made Nishiki laugh. “Rabidity makes you adorable, Kirishima.”

I was seething, I could feel the heat pooling up in my cheeks and I swear they could have flamed up if it were at all possible.

“Whoa, Touka, put the face away before you hurt someone.” Ayato

“Perfect timing, Ayato.” I let out through clenched teeth and narrowed my eyes at Nishiki. “You live to see another day, Nishio. Unfortunately.” I didn’t stick around to hear what lame comeback he would whip up. I couldn’t stand to be around him anymore and left with my heart racing. It had to be because of the rage inside me. It couldn’t have been anything else.

~ Ayato is usually the one to drive him and his sister to school, often picking up Hinami along the way. Both Ayato and Hinami have been quietly dating for a while, but haven’t told anyone. Touka has suspected it for a while though.

~ One day, Ayato ends up sick and he can’t take his sister to school and she refuses to ride the bus, so she decides to walk (despite his protests to help get her ride), but along the way Nishiki pulls up in his car, offering her a ride.

“No way, Nishio. Keep driving before I start screaming stranger danger.”

He looks and sounds really fucking amused. “It’s really cold, Kirishima.”

“No shit.” She rolls her eyes and keeps walking, ignoring the fact that Nishiki is still following her.

But it is really, really cold outside and she’s not even half way to school. She realizes she’ll freeze half to death before getting there. She curses to herself as she stops walking and Nishiki stops his car. She refuses to look at him, but she can just tell he’s tickled by all of this, he’s even trying to hide his laughter. She already regrets this. She slips into his car, still not looking at him.

“Don’t start with me, Nishio.” She warns as she puts on her seatbelt.

“What? It’s kind of funny that even your icy personality couldn’t handle this weather.” He laughs, making Touka clench her fists.

“Why are you even taking this route to school? You don’t even live around here…” She changes the subject.

“Your brother called and told me about your genius idea to walk to school. He asked me to find you, so I did.” Nishiki shrugged. Touka curses her brother.

“I can’t believe you actually went out of your way to do that. I’m in her spot, aren’t I?” She refuses to say Nishiki’s girlfriend’s name out loud.

“Kimi sometimes drives herself to school. So, you lucked out on this one.”

“Grrrreat.”

~ The rest of the ride they stay silent and when they arrive at school Touka is quick to mumble a thanks and quickly gets out of Nishiki’s car, wanting to avoid him for the rest of the day.

~ During one of Touka’s breaks, she goes into the restroom and hears giggling and small moans coming from one of the stalls, she’s tired of couples sneaking into stalls to do whatever they do, so she bangs on the stall door, yells for them to stop or she’ll tell the principal, and that’s when the door unlocks and opens. She finds it’s Nishiki and Kimi. Kimi is all flushed and pushing her skirt down, rushing out of the restroom embarrassed and then Nishiki is standing there with his hair all messy, zipping up his pants, and looking smug at Touka, but she has a look a look of repulsion on her face.

“You disgust me, Nishio.” She lets out. And for a moment she see her words cut through him, his smugness is all gone. But she walks out.

~ Shortly after that Nishiki stumbles on Touka as she’s heading to class and he stops her.

“I’m sorry, Kirishima.” He looks genuinely sorry.

“What?” Touka is confused.

“For what you saw. In the restroom.”

“Whatever.” She walks past him.

“Really?” He sounds slighted.

Touka turns back, looking indifferent. “What did you expect from me? Did you want me to tell you ‘it’s okay, Nishio?’, I mean, did you really expect my forgiveness?”

“I’ve apologized! What more do you want from me?”

“To leave me alone.” She rolled her eyes.

“What is your problem with me?”

“You’re an asshole, Nishio. You speak before you think, you do things without thinking and it gets you in trouble. It makes me want to have nothing to do with you.” And that’s when Nishiki flinched. He never flinched. What she had said had deeply affected him in some way that she couldn’t understand. Even as he looked down and away from her she could tell he was either stumped that she had called him out or he was hurt. But he couldn’t be hurt…

“You have no idea how wrong you are about that.” Nishiki said, still not looking at Touka. He took a deep breath and turned around and began to walk away leaving her to wonder why he said she was wrong. What was she wrong about?

~ The rest of the day Touka continues to focus on her classes, until Hinami informs her that Nishiki got into a fight and was sent home for the rest of the day. Touka doesn’t seem all that surprised since Ayato and Nishiki both get into trouble a lot together, only getting into fights when they’re provoked. But it does worry her a little, what could have provoked Nishiki to start a fight at school?

~ When Touka walks out of school she finds Nishiki is there by his car, waiting for her? He has a busted lower lip and a slight black eye forming. He looks upset. “What are you still doing here?” She asks him.

Nishiki opens the passenger door. “I’m taking you home.”

“No, you’re not. It’s warmer now, I can walk.” Touka starts to walk past him.

“Touka, please don’t give me shit about this. Just get in the car. I promised your brother I would get you home safe.” Nishiki sighs, looking like he’s in no mood to bicker.

“Don’t make promises you can’t keep, Nishio!” She continues to walk.

Nishiki grabs her wrist, it’s firm but he doesn’t hurt her. It stops Touka dead in her tracks. She looks back at him and sees him looking a little annoyed and a little defeated. “Please.”

“Fine.” Touka caves in. And it’s another silent car ride, but Touka sneaks peeks over at Nishiki and she can’t help her curiosity.

“What dumbass did the damage this time?” She asked him about the fight.

Nishiki kept his eyes on the road. “Doesn’t matter.”

“Wow.” Touka snickered.

“What?” Nishiki glanced at her.

“You always like bragging about your fights.”

“It’s not something I’m really proud of, Touka.” He said. Touka noticed something really odd with Nishiki. He didn’t seem like himself, or at least the Nishiki she used to. He was much more somber and he hadn’t called her by her last name. The way he said her first name…it made her flush.

“Why are you so glum?” Touka hid her face.

“You really hurt me back there, Touka.” Nishiki admitted and Touka instantly felt her heart sink. “Just how you say I say things without thinking, you do the same thing and don’t realize how hurtful you can be.”

They arrive at her home and she sits there a little stunned that Nishiki had even admitted this to her.

“I didn’t think you cared.” Touka let out.

“Yeah, well, I do.” Nishiki said. Both of them still couldn’t look at each other much less say anything else as Touka opened the door and walked away, watching Nishiki drive off.

Okay let’s do this (I have answered some of them, so I’m gonna cheat and use the old trick of copy-pasting ahha)

how did they first kiss?Their first kissed happened six months after they got together. They take things slow, and yes, it took half a year for Bakugou to be comfortable with the thought of kissing. Kirishima is very patients with him. Their first kiss happened when they were watching some romantic movie. And Kirishima jokingly says he wants to kiss Bakugou, and Bakugou says okay, and they kissed. It wasn’t really sweet or anything like that. It was awkward and silly. Their noses and foreheads bumped against each other, Kirishima’s teeth almost caused minor accidents, and they were laughing afterwards. It wasn’t perfect, but it was the best kiss they ever had.

who flirts more?Kirishima. Bakugou does not understand the art of flirting. He thinks people are making fun of him when they try to flirt with him. He only understands flirting when Kirishima is flirting with him, and he dies a lot.

how did the relationship start? It started two years after Kirishima confessed. Bakugou is slow in the uptake of that thing called feelings. Though they did remain very close friends even after Kirishima confessed. It was only when Kirishima is choking from soda that Bakugou realized that yeah, he’s in love with this guy.

how did they start living together? do they move? how do they choose the place?They actually moved together after high school and they went pro as a team. It was actually out of practicality and a matter of convenience, since they are a duo, and they figured its best to just live together. They choose the place closest to their agency. Its an actual house too. Single-story house with the biggest front and back yards ever.

do they have roommates?No they don’t. They own a single story house, and they value their privacy. Todoroki and Kaminari comes over once in a while, but they never stay the night.

do they get married (or equivalent)?Yes. They get married. It was a small gathering and nontraditional to booth.

do they have kids?Do dogs count? Because they have seven of them, and Kirishima calls all of them their children.

do they have pets?Yes. They have ten. All of them are goldfish because Bakugou loves them and they’re easy to take care of. They also happen to have an entire pack of dogs. Seven of them.

do they act different in public and at home?They actually don’t. They’re both very natural around each other, just like the way there are since the beginning. Sure the more intimate things like kissing only happens at home, but other than that, everything is basically the same.

big spoon/little spoon?Bakugou wants to be the big spoon, but Kirishima grew up to be a giant. Now, Bakugou is stuck being the little spoon. He secretly loves it. He feels safe and comfortable.

sleeping habits?Both of them move a lot in their sleep. Sometimes one of them ends up on the floor. Oops.

favorite non-sexual activity?Sparring and hiking. And rescuing people.

favorite sexual activity?Well… Bakugou sure loves to suck Kirishima off.

how often do they have sex?Not that often really. Maybe once or twice a month, and honestly that’s okay for them. They prefer the cuddling and the lame movie marathons.

what habits of the other drives them crazy?Bakugou’s habit of asking anyone he just met if they wanted to fight him. Because seriously, he always does this omg.Kirishima’s habit of living his socks everywhere drives Bakugou insane.

how often do they fight?Surprise. They don’t fight. At all. They have disagreements, yes. But never a fight. They’ve learned a long time ago that everything can be solved through communication, and because of that they don’t have fights.

most trivial thing they fight over?Kirishima leaving his socks all over and how he takes forever in the bath. Bakugou not wanting to clean the house and do the laundry even when its his turn. Really trivial things; it ends in them playing around and making more of a mess in the house.

who uses all the hot water?Kirishima does. Bakugou actually don’t use them. He doesn’t like bathing with hot water because he gets sick, so he lets Kirishima use them all.

who does most of the cleaning?Both of them. Bakugou is a neat freak, Kirishima got influenced by him. They do general cleanings every weak, and also year end cleanings.

what do they watch on tv and do they fight for the remote?Lame shows they can laugh at. They don’t fight over the remote. Bakugou just orders Kirishima to flip channels because he’s lazy af.

who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working?Kirishima. The first time Bakugou did it, he made the poor guy almost wet himself. Bakugou is not allowed to use their home phone after that.

who answers the phone?Kirishima. Like I said before, Bakugou is banned from using their home phone unless it was an emergency.

who steals the blankets?There’s no need to steal a blanket when Bakugou is a human furnace, in Kirishima’s most humble opinion. Bakugou on the other hand, would like to steal that blanket because Kirishima’s body temperature is lower than normal, thank you very much.

who remembers things?If its important dates like birthdays and anniversaries, both of them. If It’s the small things, that’s going to be Bakugou. He remembers the smallest details from where Kirishima placed the house keys to where Kirishima’s used socks are. Haha!

who does the groceries?Bakugou. Kirishima tends to be super thrifty and choose the cheap things, Bakugou does not like them.

who cooks normally?Bakugou. Kirishima can’t cook to save his life. Okay he’s learning, but he’s not allowed to go in the kitchen yet.

who leaves their stuff lying everywhere?Kirishima. He just throws his thing everywhere. Bakugou wants to strangle him (with love) sometimes.

what kind of stuff can be found around their place?There are small goldfish themed trinkets in their place, dog toys, and letters from their fans. There’s some hero medals on display too, and lots and lots of photos of them! They have an entire wall dedicated to those photos.

what do their cupboards or shelves look like?Simple and neat. Everything is organized. It’s easy to find stuff in their cupboards and their shelves are well organized too.

what does their closet(s) look like?Half red and half black mostly. Haha. But like everything in their house, everything is organized.

what do they do when they’re away from each other?Actually, they call each other but not all the time. They allow each other to do their individual thing, and both are always content to just hear the other’s voice whenever they could. There are no constant updates of what they are doing because they may be together, but they are also separate people. Though if one is on a trip (say with their respective family), they send pictures to make the other jealous (”This place looks like, I bet you wish you were here.”)

do they have nicknames or pet names for each other?Yes they do. Ofc shitty hair is Bakugou’s nickname for Kirishima. Blasty is Kirishima’s nickname for Bakugou. Ofc Kirishima calls Bakugou babe or love too. Bakugou does call Kirishima babe and love as well, and when he does people who overhear them go mental because that’s precious.

how do they refer to the other in public? how do other people refer to the other? (i.e. “my partner”, “ask your father”, ”dad and papa”, ”how’s your wife?”, etc)Bakugou mostly calls Kirishima by his name or shitty hair. Kirishima likes to call Katsuki also by his name or Blasty. He calls him babe too.

who is more likely to pay for dinner?They split the payment in half. Both of them absolutely refused to let the other pay for both of them.

how often do they go on dates?Very often because their definition of date is different from the rest. Walking their dogs? Date. Grocery shopping? Also a date. Basically every time that they are together and not working is a date according to their definition.

typical date night? out or at home?At home watching lame movies, making comments about the lame special effects, and laughing at old horror movies while sprawled on the couch or snuggled under blankets while eating spicy chips and drinking soda.

do they celebrate birthdays, valentine’s day, anniversaries?They do, but it isn’t anything grand when they do. They just do simple things for each other, like cooking the other’s favorite food.

what would they get each other for gifts?Kirishima will give Bakugou anything goldfish themed because he knows Bakugou adores goldfish to death. Bakugou knows Kirishima’s crazy over this one clothing brand and they always release limited edition designs, so Bakugou makes sure to get Kirishima those.

how do they spend christmas and new year’s (or equivalent family gatherings)?They spend it with their families. The Kirishimas and the Bakugous (and sometimes tagged along by Kaminari and Todoroki) always have these family gatherings. It’s really annoying according to Bakugou, but Kirishima can see that smile he’s trying to hide.

who cusses more?Is this a question? Is this really a question? Bakugou.

what would they do if the other one was hurt?Oh boy, they would unleash their anger (and kill, okay not really but close to that) especially when its done by a villain. Though when one of them get hurt due to their own clumsiness, well Bakugou would try not to laugh at Kirishima and fail. Kirishima on the other hand, will tease Bakugou all the while trying to dodge the explosions.

what are little gestures they do for each other?The soft, gentle, and comforting touches they offer each other when one needs comfort. The way Kirishima remembers what each smallest shift in Bakugou’s body language mean. The way Bakugou runs his fingers on Kirishima’s hair when Kirishima is upset by something, like a mission gone wrong. Those kind of things.

do they know how the other takes their coffee/tea?Of course! Bakugou knows Kirishima likes black, and Kirishima knows that Bakugou is neither a coffee or tee person, he’s a hot chocolate kind of guy.

do they feel they see each other enough, or do they have activities that take too much of their time?They totally see each other enough. Same house. Same job. Same agency. Sometimes, they even think they see each other too much. Haha!

do they friend/follow each other on facebook/tumblr/livejournal/skype/etc?They’re too busy saving people to actually have social media accounts.

(added) morning routine?Kirishima is the only one who actually had a morning routine tbh. Bakugou sleeps till noon, and Kirishima knows not to wake him up. Though he would watch Bakugou sleep before he gets off their bed.

how do they make up after a fight?They talk. For them, communication is best. When something ends in an argument, they just talk. They tell each other what’s wrong and why they don’t agree with the other and make a common ground. They have a very mature relationship and everyone is surprised by it.

opposing lawyers au: i’m torn bc it’d be equally fun to have, like, non-romantic rivals in these roles and the entire fic is just them talking shit (i’m not a big rarepair person so that definitely limits me in au plotting, lmao, i just dig weird friendships so much more than actual proper rarepairs!!) and also pitting an otp against each other and having belligerent sexual tension that will get the characters lectured by their respective HR departments. or! they’re competing within the same firm and both trying to get ahead so it’s more of an office drama, which would lead to a funny ensemble cast, which is always a win in my book

oh dude bokuaka could be fun for this, bc akaashi is a smartass by-the-book kinda guy who looks down on bokuto’s weirder strategies, but akaashi keeps underestimating how clever bokuto is and it infuriates him, and also kinda turns him on, and that infuriates him even further. or daisuga, too, i like the idea of them being rivals bc i have a funny feeling if they weren’t on the same team they’d just push each other’s buttons - daichi holds grudges over petty bullshit (sawamura “death to everyone who’s ever played basketball bc i’ve fought with their captain” daIchi tbh) and it’d just be too easy to irritate him for suga to resist doing it all the time.

if i get into non-romances pissing each other off in professional settings i’ll be here all night so i’ll spare you, but just know there are too many annoyingly-clever strategists in haikyuu who’d square off against each other excellently and it’s great

single parent au: true story, my sister and i have this very elaborate future domestic au about all our ships having kids, so, like, i love kid fics but having one of my own has ruined everyone else’s for me whoops. i can’t read anyone else’s bc i miss the babies i invented. buries face in hands. (but if you want to hear about that i have like a 30-page notes document so i’m happy to tell you about it)

aside from that i’ve vaguely plotted out a specific single parent au, i think (my sister and i are au machines, it’s a problem). we have one where daichi and suga hook up but then suga is daichi’s kid’s kindergarten teacher so the parent-teacher conference gets Real Awkward Real Fast. both of them try very hard to act professional and not ask “so like…we still on for a second date or��uh…”

doctors au: my immediate impulse when i saw this is to only make one of the characters a medical doctor and the other’s like. i don’t know a renowed geologist or smth. full on “dammit i’m a doctor, not a DOCTOR.” somehow they have wacky adventures. my brain wants me to x-files this and turn it into cryptid hunting shenanigans bc i shouldn’t be left to make aus past midnight. this is absolutely not what you meant when you asked me this, anon, but i don’t think i’m capable of writing a medical drama? i don’t watch that many, i lack a frame of reference. but you know what i don’t lack a frame of reference for. GHOST HUNTING. also MOTHMAN. catch me turning your prompt into gay “ghost adventures” somehow??

i have no idea what i’d write for this, i don’t think anyone wants me writing a doctors au. i think the closest i’d get is a future fic abt kyoutani being a veterinarian and he takes care of yahaba’s really fat cat and criticizes how fat it is and somehow they date. sorry omg this is not my best work, au-wise

thunderstorm cuddles: THIS IS A GOOD VIBE TOO…listen in my opinion all my ships should be cuddling all the time, or else what is the point. i really need to learn how to write short fluffy ficlets, i always end up turning everything i write into an absurdly long oneshot but writing ficlets sounds nice.

anyway! this is a lovely moment of vulnerability to work with; if you run with a childhood friends ship for this, it could demonstrate how well the two characters know each other, that they’re aware of the need for thunderstorm cuddles and happy to provide it. however, it’s also intriguing as a moment to allow greater understanding and closeness in a relationship that isn’t as familiar. it demonstrates one party’s willingness to let the other see them in an unflattering state and let themselves be comforted. man i could do this for any ship, i really adore finding these little, understated moments of love and letting them cement a relationship, and also i’m weak to mild hurt/comfort where nobody is really hurt, haha. i would write asanoya for this, they’re especially good for cuddling, i feel. they’re both afraid of storms but refuse to admit it to save face in front of each other but they eventually both cave and learn, oh hey, we’re both scared of storms, this works, and then cuddle under a big quilt and everyone is happy

celebrity crush au: i would love to get “celebrity crush” down to absolute minimum level, like, oh god, since when do i go to college with that one hot youtuber who i’ve watched for years, or, oh no, i TOTALLY thirst-follow that guy on instagram, i’ve watched videos of him bench-pressing stuff WAY TOO MUCH, or, fuck me it’s the bassist from that band that plays in the campus bar, etc etc. i think that’d be funny bc it’s not even like you’re harboring a crush on a movie star like a normal person and it’s even harder to approach a youtube crush by explaining “hey so you’re famous, a bit, to me at least, i’m sorry, i love your work, i promise i’m not creepy.” if i was writing this, circumstances would definitely force the characters together (class group project! train your new co-worker, who you’ll spend hours alone with henceforth! we’re in the same club, time for icebreakers!) and the character with the crush would either awkwardly hide it or awkwardly blurt it out, depending.

i actually do have a vaguely-arced au about characters in bands that play in the campus bar attempting to woo various bar patrons; this kagehina i wrote is in that universe and i’ve just never sat down to write the whole au, and that’s an ensemble piece so there’s a bunch of ships. i dig iwaoi for the instagram thirst-follow concept, or bokuaka. that thirst is real. i’m also getting attached to the idea of the celebrity crush being a new co-worker, like, the two characters work in the school bookstore and spend many hours alone with no one but books for company. i’d write a kuroken for that. kenma didn’t expect that cool youtuber to be such a nerd in real life. also he’s pretty sure internet people aren’t supposed to be hot in real life, what the fuck, this isn’t even FAIR. so he’s all brisk with kuroo to keep his distance bc he feels so awkward and kuroo doesn’t get what he did wrong. (answer: existing and being cute was his mistake)

buddy cops au: COOL! this is another one where i’d love a weird friendship over an otp, just for shenanigans’ sake. if i was writing this it’d be less law & order and more brooklyn 99 so comedy is key. i’m thinking like. kenma and lev, worst partners ever, who solve all their cases against all odds. suga and kageyama would be a fun working dynamic too, or any combo of competitive setters, although i think with many other setters there’d be more attempting to outdo each other. like partnering shirabu and semi would be a mess of passive-aggressive sniping amidst their detective work. oikawa and ushijima where they both think they’re the good cop but they’re actually both the bad cop and oikawa thinks ushijima isn’t human bc he never drinks coffee bc he says he doesn’t “need it” like what the hell, how does he even stay awake on shift, it’s unnatural.

and on a not-haikyuu note, i definitely had a fucking komahina buddy cop au at some point in the distant past, and i’ve always lowkey wanted to write a naegiri noir mystery where kirigiri is the mysterious detective and naegi is the inquisitive reporter tagging along and helping her with a case. dangan lends itself to shit like that since it’s already about investigating murders

marry someone to piss off parents au: oh boy would i love to combine this with a royalty au. oh BOY would i love to combine this with a royalty au!! some upstart crown prince decides to marry below their station just to stick it to The Man and falling in love somewhere along the way, bc marriage is a commitment and it takes effort and you can’t just do it for no reason, it’s not a means to an end. i just find it mildly hard to believe anyone in haikyuu is offensive enough to someone’s parent to pull this off, like, even the ones that look skeevy are actually honor roll students, you just can’t accomplish this in canonverse.

back to the royalty au, make it even better: the protag chases after the crown prince of the rival kingdom bc they’re sick of the constant fighting and border disputes and assorted nonsense, and also it’ll make their parents SO MAD. like romeo and juliet but nobody dies, they just fall in love and dare somebody to do something about it. i’d do kagehina for this, it’s hinata’s idea. “what if i just. married into their family? then we’d share everything, right? right?” he pipes up at a lame-ass strategy meeting talking about import taxes on the rivals, he’d rather be going on adventures but noooo he has to sit at a meeting, so he decides to put his foot down. and then he has to journey off to kageyama’s kingdom and somehow win his hand. that sounds fun as hell.

if i did make this canonverse, i feel like one character is essentially fake-dating the other to make the parents mad, like, they have an arrangement, the fake beau is getting free dinner out of it, but they end up charming the protag’s parents and instead of pissing them off the visit smooths things over and the protag character is really irritated but also kinda falling for the fake beau what the hell?? it all just completely backfires. give me ennotana for this. ennoshita hires the toughest-looking dude he knows to annoy his parents but his parents think tanaka’s a good influence on him, somehow. goddammit how dare he be so charming. this is nonsense.

The 11 Reasons That Tinder Match Never Messaged You

Those of you who are regular swipe-app users—your Tinderers, your Bumblers, your OkCupiders—will be familiar with two nearly simultaneous and almost always contradictory emotions. The first comes when you match with someone: the giddy high that accompanies your two pics dancing across the screen, Tinder’s celebratory "It’s a Match!" with an "M" so sassy that it should come with a parental advisory, or Bumble’s "BOOM," which might as well just say, "YOU GUYS SHOULD BANG." You think… "maybe… maybe this is the one! The one who’s going to change everything!"

The second sensation comes shortly thereafter, as you try to craft a perfect-but-totes chill opening message to this new potential life partner. "Hey, how’s your day treating you?" is my boring default, as I don't want to invest too much or seem too eager. Because the reality is that the likelihood that this human will write you back is closer to nil than my checking account, and that, my friends, is saying something.

But why? Why won’t they just write you (me, us) back? I’ve assembled the comprehensive list of explanations for when you've matched with someone who looks ~~perfect~~ but who ends up completely ignoring you.

1. They’ve made a horrible mistake.

This one rates highly in the likelihood department because we've all been there. Your thumbs are swiftly flicking through faces, and then suddenly something weird happens with the angle of your hand or the touchscreen has a mini-seizure, and all of a sudden, you’ve matched with Taylor, a perfectly nice-looking grave-digger who you’re just not excited to suck face with.

2. Your conversation just didn’t spark.

True, the full extent of your attempt to communicate with this new, exciting person is no more than a few words, but maybe buried deep inside those words was a blaring siren of awkwardness that sent up more red flags than the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics. They just know.

3. They were drunk when they swiped right on you.

There are those people who at the beginning of the date make you think, "I don’t know if I’m really into this," but then a beer or two in, you’re like, "I really love the name Flannery for a girl and Clayton for a boy," so why shouldn’t the same thing hold true for swiping under the influence? In their defense, I don’t know how I’d feel about getting a message that was like "OMG I’m so sorry I was totally wasted when I swiped right on you," so maybe silence really is the best answer here.

4. They swipe right on everyone and see who swipes right back.

I didn’t know until recently that this is a thing, and it seems pretty f*cking horrible. It’s less "he’s just not that into you" and more "he’s just a total douchebag."

5. They can smell your desperation.

I mean, if the NSA can turn on our camera phones without us knowing, surely Apple has devised a way of transmitting how much you desperately need this embryonic relationship to work, if only so you don’t have to deal with Aunt Sheila’s probing questions about why you’re still single at your cousin’s wedding in June. Clearly, Jordan can tell just how badly you want it, and is accordingly running, screaming into the night, in the opposite direction.

6. They're sadistic and cruel.

This one time, I matched with a guy who was cute or whatever, but not slack-jawed-accidentally-walk-into-a-post pretty or anything. I sent him a friendly, harmless, "Hey Nick, how’s your weekend going?" and he wrote back, "No."

"No… what? No weekend?" I asked innocently.

He sent me an animated gif of Homer Simpson backing into a hedge. I sent him an animated gif of Oprah looking happily confused at the 2015 Oscars. He sent me a gif of a weird cartoon spider shaking its head, and then blocked me.

Let me just say that this guy—who must have swiped right on me at some point—was giving me a hard rejection via gif? I mean, I am a goddamned Fulbright Scholar. Needless to say, I had a few glasses of wine following that interaction. I think I earned them.

7. They're already married and just forgot to deactivate their Tinder.

What happens when you’ve found the one? Is there a button somewhere in these apps that says "I’m all good! Take me out of the mix!"? I know I’ve never seen one, not that I’ve had cause to look… so I’m just going to assume that there are some number of faces I’m seeing of people who are happily ensconced with their future husband already. The internet seems divided on what happens to your account if you stop using your swipey app but don’t fully eradicate yourself from it—i.e., delete your account—and the idea that the reason Jamie never wrote back is because he is busy getting married to Royce is somehow easier to stomach than the idea that he just DGAF.

8. Their friend was swiping for them.

I’ve covered in full the various pitfalls of this exercise.

9. They died.

There are 7 billion people in the world. Every day, 151,000 people die. That’s roughly .002 percent of the world's total population. There are 10 million daily active Tinder users. .002 percent of 10 million is 200. So every day on Tinder, there are 200 new ghosts in the mix. That’s just math.

10. They got distracted and forgot about you.

This one is lame because you can’t actually hate the person for it, but—especially for that guy who looked kind of promising—can be frustrating as hell.

11. The biggest, best, least satisfying, and most likely reason: They’re just not good enough.

Yes, no one wants to hear it, but even though Tyler was super handsome and wrote a witty profile and swiped right on you, a match who can’t be bothered to write back to a personable, friendly message isn’t worth the data you used to download their photo. It doesn’t make them suck any less, but maybe it will make their silence just a little less hurtful.

When Michelle is a freshman in college, she has a bit of a crisis. She and Peter have been best friends for around two years now, and she’s been nursing a healthy crush on him for a bit longer than that. And in their whole friendship/crush existence, Peter has only ever liked one girl: Liz Toomes. (Which, if she’s being honest, Michelle probably had a crush on Liz too. So she gets it.) This is all a roundabout way of her saying that she’s been able to have a crush on Peter Parker and not do anything about it because their relationship to each other and mostly to other people always stayed the same.

But in their freshman year of college, Peter Parker gets a lab partner for intro physics. She seems like a kind, genuine, funny, good person. She’s friendly and intelligent. And whenever Michelle makes the trek to MIT to join Peter for lunch before lab, Gwen always asks how she’s doing and takes a genuine interest in MJ and her life. So, Gwen Stacy is exactly Peter’s type (if Liz is a crush to go by), and MJ has a mini crisis about it.

Peter and Gwen don’t start dating though. At least not for the first month or so of school. But MJ is worried. And then one Wednesday while she’s doodling in the middle of her freshman seminar (it focuses on human rights and MJ is actually a big fan of the class, but That Kid™ is speaking right now and he’s absolutely insufferable), she feels her pocket buzz. It’s a text from Peter.

She schools her expression so as not to give anything away while her professor gets into a debate with Kid™ about how his point, while there is some argument to be said for it, is actually irrelevant in the real world and only works in a hypothetical world where greed and selfishness doesn’t exist.

michelle “if you save my name with any emojis I’ll murder you” jones: yeah sure, 6:30? I’ve got class until 6.

Then her best friend in the class, Jenna (bless her soul), is speaking up to note that the readings actually don’t support Kid™’s ideas and suggest that there needs to be a more active effort on the part of society to correct wrongdoings and hold people accountable.

the dork pedro: sounds good meet at my dorm room

Michelle doesn’t realize until after class that she spends the rest of it smiling. Jenna punches her in the arm and laughs at the expression on MJ’s face. “What’s got you all smiley and happy?” Jenna knows about Peter. At least, she knows that MJ’s half in love with him and has been since sophomore year of high school. Jenna also knows, at least she claims that she knows, that Peter Parker is head over heels in love with Michelle and if they don’t start dating before the end of this year then Jenna will shave her head.

“I’m getting dinner with Peter tonight.” MJ tries to act nonchalant about the whole matter because they’ve gotten dinner in the past. It shouldn’t be a big deal. But then Jenna’s face lights up and she grabs MJ’s shoulders and starts jumping up and down.

“Tonight’s the night! I feel it!” And MJ starts laughing, shaking her head and starting to walk away with a smile on her face. “Tell me how it goes, MJ!”

“Yeah, yeah.” She says over her shoulder. “Now go to class!” But when Jenna whistles loudly down the hall, MJ just smiles and skips for a second before walking to her next class.

And if Michelle puts on her nicest pair of jeans and uses her hands to brush her hair so it’s a little neater, well, no one can prove that. (Except her roommate who just laughs when she changes her shirt, but her roommate is sworn to secrecy so good luck getting that information from her.) MJ walks a little more quickly to Peter’s dorm. (It usually takes her about forty minutes to walk the two miles, but she does it in thirty tonight.)

She practically jumps up the stairs to his room and when she notices the door is slightly ajar, she pushes it open without a second thought because this is around the time he was expecting her. And then she sees Gwen. She’s sitting next to Peter on his bed and she has her arm around his shoulders and when she glances up to see MJ, she jumps. “MJ!”

But before either of them can say anything else, MJ is backing away, apologizing quietly before she runs out the dorm and down the stairs. She can’t really get very far because it’s dark and her tears are making everything blurry. So she settles onto a bench near the dorm in a small brick alcove. She pulls her knees up onto the bench and wraps her arms around them, feeling stupid as she lets her head fall between her knees. This is dumb. She’s dumb. She knew it was coming. She shouldn’t have been surprised.

“MJ?” While MJ likes Gwen well enough, she is the last person on earth she wants to talk to right now. (Well, second to last.) But Gwen sits next to her on the bench anyway because she refuses to take a hint when MJ doesn’t even look up. “I know saying ‘it’s not what it looks like’ feels like a lame excuse, but it’s true.”

Michelle takes a deep breath and looks up at Gwen, not caring that her tear-stained cheeks give away how much she cares. “I’m happy for the two of you, honestly. I just,” she sighs. God, this is the worst.

“You love him.” At Michelle’s shocked face, Gwen continues. “You’re not subtle. Neither is he, you know.” When MJ’s brows draw together in confusion, Gwen laughs. She has the decency to look sheepish when MJ scowls. “I’m sorry, it’s just that you two are so bad at this. He and I aren’t dating, okay? I’m gay.”

And, fuck. Honestly, how could MJ be so heteronormative? She’s bi for crying out loud! The only other person MJ sees Gwen with is that one girl Alex. She saw them holding hands once! God, MJ feels ridiculous. Gwen just puts her hand on MJ’s knee and chuckles. “We spend half the time during lab talking about his massive crush on you and how he plans to woo you. Tonight was supposed to be a special night.” Michelle’s eyes widen and Gwen smiles warmly. “I told him to stay in his room because I figured he’d mess this up somehow because he’s clueless, but you probably already knew that.”

Michelle doesn’t really know how to feel right now but she puts her legs back on the ground and pulls Gwen into a hug. She whispers quietly into Gwen’s hair, “thank you.” Gwen rubs her back and squeezes her a bit more tightly.

“I’m the one who should be thanking you. Hopefully now I don’t have to listen to how you’re never going like Peter the way he likes you.” Michelle pulls back with a laugh, wiping her cheeks and opening her eyes wide, trying to get rid of any residual tears. “Now go find him, please.”

Michelle smiles, standing up and thanking her one last time before sprinting back to his room. He’s sitting on his bed, face in his hands and shoulders sagging. MJ walks over and sits down next to him, hugging him tightly when he looks up at her. His arms wrap slowly around her waist and it’s a bit uncomfortable hugging while they’re sitting down but his warmth is intoxicating.

She pulls back slightly. “So, I hear you want to be my boyfriend.” Peter flushes, his ears turning red and his eyes widening. He looks too adorable, so Michelle just rests her hand lightly against his cheek. “Kiss me if yes.”

Peter leans in and their lips brush. It’s short and nothing too spectacular, but they’re both smiling and afterward Peter pulls her back into a hug, burying his face in her neck and kissing it softly. Michelle can’t contain the butterflies that are flapping around in her stomach. She finds she doesn’t really want to, either.

2. liz toomes

Michelle loves Liz Toomes. She’s one of her closest friends. After Liz moved to Oregon in Michelle’s sophomore year, they started talking more. Michelle would keep Liz updated on decathlon and ask her questions. Liz would tell Michelle about Oregon and being the new kid and tease MJ about her crush on Peter.

So when Liz tells MJ that she’s going to be in Boston for a conference next week, MJ is understandably very excited. Since Liz and Peter are fairly good friends now, the three of them arrange to get dinner together. Michelle is excited. Honestly, she is. But, there’s still a part of her that gets a little self-conscious. Because Peter and Liz joke around and Liz is so bubbly and alive and outgoing and charming and all these things that Michelle’s never cared to be nor has she wanted to be.

It’s not that Michelle doesn’t think she’s a pretty awesome person. Nor does she want to change who she is because of what she thinks Peter might want. She knows her loves her. She knows they’re happy. But she worries that Peter wants someone like Liz sometimes. That he might be happier with someone more like Liz. Which, she knows, is dumb. But she can’t help but feel sometimes as if he’s with him because they’re friends and they were attracted to each other and it was convenient and made sense.

Which is why she’s a little off at dinner. She’s a bit quieter and Peter and Liz joke together and MJ doesn’t contribute all that often. When Peter goes to the restroom, Liz turns and levels her with a serious look. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” Michelle tries to play it off. She knows that it’s a lame response and that Liz will not accept it. Which is why Liz just raises one eyebrow and keeps looking at Michelle with the same look on her face. And MJ is trying to be more open and honest because Peter always says he never really knows what she’s thinking. So, MJ sighs and closes her eyes so she doesn’t have to look at Liz when she says something she knows Liz is going to disapprove of. “I get worried that I’m not going to be enough for him.”

She opens one of her eyes slightly so she can peak at Liz, but she doesn’t look incredulous and Fed Up™ like she had thought. She’s just smiling, warm and gentle. She reaches out and puts her hand on Michelle’s shoulder. “In all the years I’ve known Peter, I’ve never seen him look at anyone the way he looks at you. It’s like you hung the moon and he’s going to spend every day worshipping the ground you walk on. He absolutely adores you, okay?”

Michelle pulls Liz into a hug so she doesn’t accidentally start crying in this restaurant. “Thank you for telling me I’m being dumb.”

Liz chuckles. “Of course, MJ.”

They’re still hugging when Peter walks back and he laughs a bit, asking, “I was gone for like five minutes. What happened?”

Michelle and Liz pull back from their hug, grinning at each other. MJ turns to Peter and kisses him on the cheek. “Nothing to worry about, loser.” He shakes his head and scoffs, but his cheeks are slightly pink so she figures Liz is right about everything, so she should trust her on this one.

3. may parker

At the end of their first semester sophomore year, Michelle and Peter start to struggle a bit. He’s going off on missions a lot more frequently and he’s starting to fall behind and it feels too similar to the beginning of sophomore year in high school and Michelle doesn’t want to feel like they’ve gone back. Michelle sees him less often, and it wouldn’t usually be an issue because they both get busy. But it’s been a week since she’s seen him and when they text the conversations are short. She reads online that Spiderman has been particularly active in the last two weeks, and Michelle doesn’t want to be upset, but she is. Hell, they haven’t even had sex in, like, a month. Which, for them, is a really long time.

It’s more than just the sex, though. Michelle misses Peter. She misses watching movies with him on the couch and cuddling when she’s particularly stressed. She misses him trying to make tea and failing, somehow, even though it’s honestly not that hard and we’ve talked about this three times this past week. She misses talking to him right before they go to bed and stealing food from his plate and having tickle fights. She misses him posing for her doodles and holding him when he cries after a particularly bad dream. She misses him. But she’s also upset at him.

So, over Christmas break when they’re both back in New York, when she arrives at his house to give him his present (which may or may not include a blowjob if she’s feeling generous and also maybe because she wants to have sex with her boyfriend because it’s been so long) and he’s not at his house, she scowls a bit.

May smiles, but Michelle knows that she’s also concerned. Despite this, she laughs. “Normally, I’d be offended at seeing someone so disappointed to see me!”

Michelle sighs, frowning a bit. She’s tired. Really, she is. “I’m sorry, May. You know I love you.”

May just puts her hand on Michelle’s shoulder and guides her inside. “I know. Come on it. He’ll hopefully be back within the hour.” May closes the door once Michelle is inside and directs her to the kitchen table. She walks into the kitchen and puts the kettle on the stove. “You like earl grey, right?”

Michelle smiles, nodding slightly. They’re silent while the water heats up and then the kettle screams and May brings over two mugs. Michelle lifts the tea bag up and down, watching the color spread in the water. They chat about how school’s been and what May’s been doing. She’s dating someone new. Michelle congratulates her. But then it’s been forty-five minutes and Peter’s not back. May reaches over and grabs Michelle’s hand. “Tell me what’s going on.”

That’s hard. Because Michelle doesn’t fully know herself, but she’s sad and upset and frustrated. But she loves him so much. “I miss him.” That’s really it, isn’t it? He’s not around anymore and she misses waking up and having him wrapped in her arms. “It feels like he’s always gone now. I just…miss talking to him and doing little things with him. It feels like I’m not as important as I used to be.” She leaves out the part where she misses sex, but it doesn’t really matter at this point, she doesn’t think. Besides, while she loves May dearly, she has no interest in discussing her sex life with the woman.

“Tell him.” May says it as if it’s all that simple. Michelle doesn’t want him to feel like he has to choose. Doesn’t want to make him feel like he has to give up this part of his life. May continues on despite the look Michelle is sure she’s giving May. “He cares about you. A lot. He will listen. It’s not unfair to tell him how you feel.”

Then there’s a crash in his room and he’s home. He comes out a few minutes later in his pajamas and gulps when he sees them. He looks a little worse for wear, but he’s okay. May stands, saying she’s going to spend the night with her girlfriend. She walks over the give Peter a kiss on the cheek. She hugs Michelle tightly before she leaves and whispers into her ear, “Be brave enough to be vulnerable.”

Then she’s gone and neither she nor Peter says anything for a moment. But Michelle takes a deep breath and quickly spits out, “I miss you.” He looks like he chokes on anything he was going to say and walks over, sitting next to her and grabbing her hands. Somehow this empowers her and she continues. “I feel like we don’t see each other or talk anymore. I miss just sitting next to you and doing homework. I miss laughing with you.” She looks down, blushing slightly. “I miss sex with you.”

He laughs, leaning in and kissing her cheek. “I’m sorry.” He kisses her forehead. “I love you.” He kisses her nose. “I miss you.” And then he kisses her mouth and she wraps her arms around his shoulders and pulls him tightly to her. It’s weird, sitting in their respective chairs and kissing. But it feels like deliverance so she doesn’t really care.

She’s smiling when he pulls back slightly. She glances down and runs her hand up his thigh. HE chokes on air a bit and she laughs. “I actually came here to give you your Christmas presents.”

“Presents?” He squeaks out and his voice is a couple octaves too high. She just smiles, feeling like a vixen when she slides off her chair to kneel on the floor in front of him. She yanks open his pajama bottoms and he gulps, head tilting back as he whispers out a quick, “Jesus Christ.”

She laughs again when he looks back at her, looking absolutely wrecked when she hasn’t even done anything yet. “Face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot.”

4. ned leeds

Michelle is absolutely livid right now. She’s wound so tight she’s going to snap at the next person who says a single word to her. She was at the meeting for queer students on campus when she encountered a woman who looked at her, confused and slightly upset. “Wait, don’t you have a boyfriend?”

Michelle had sighed. She had been asked this a couple times over the last few meetings. “Yeah, I’m bi.”

The woman just raised one eyebrow. “But you’re in a straight relationship.” And she’d already had a long day and she didn’t want to deal with someone implying she wasn’t gay enough to be at their queer meetings. So she’d picked up her backpack and stormed out. She didn’t care what this woman thought of her, she just needed to get out of that room.

She walks the mile to Peter’s apartment quickly because she’s about to burst into tears and she doesn’t want to do that in public. She just wants to see her boyfriend and hug him because she feels so fucking exhausted. But when she knocks on the door, he’s not ther. Ned answers because he’s visiting this weekend and then Michelle bursts into tears and Ned pulls her into the apartment and gives her a hug.

They stand like that for a couple minutes. Ned’s rubbing her back in soothing circles and whispering assurances to her. When the tears become less all consuming, Ned pulls back and asks, “what’s going on?”

Michelle takes a deep breath, trying to stop her tears. “A girl implied I wasn’t gay enough to be at a queer meeting.” And then her tears come more forcefully again and Ned pulls her back into a hug. Her shoulders shake and she buries her face into his neck, not caring that his shirt’s probably very wet on his shoulder.

“I’m so sorry, MJ. Oh my goodness.” He guides her to the kitchen counter and sits her down on the bar stool. He sits next to her and keeps rubbing circles on her back. “I’m sorry she was trying to erasure your identity.” Michelle just nods, taking deep breaths as her heart stops racing so quickly. “It’s not the same, but sometimes I feel like people don’t really accept my demisexuality. Like, I’m on the ace spectrum but some people don’t want to acknowledge that. Like, especially since I’ve found Betty. It’s hard because everyone just assumes I’m in a perfectly straight hetero relationship. And I go to queer meetings and people are always just like, ‘oh cool, an ally!’ And I want to shout, ‘I’m not an ally! I’m queer!’” He pauses, eyebrows furrowing. “Not that I wouldn’t be an ally. I don’t actually know what I’m saying right now but I should probably stop.”

Michelle laughs and hugs him tightly again. Ned’s her best friend too. She loves him. “You’re such a dork, Ned. I love you.” They hug until Peter comes home and she’s still crying a bit. When Peter notices, he rushes over and she pulls away from Ned to hug Peter. Because she missed him and she loves him too and he always knows how to make her feel better.

Peter guides her to the couch and covers her with a blanket. He kisses her on the head and then walks back into the kitchen to find Ned putting a kettle on the stove. “What happened?”

“Someone implied she was straight.” And oh god. This has happened too many times to count since she’d started dating Peter and he feels so badly. So when he walks back into the living room with a mug of chamomile tea (because it’s her favorite and it puts her right to bed and she needs her sleep), he pops the DVD for Frida into the DVD player. Michelle claps her hands together and smiles when she accepts the mug from Peter.

Peter slides underneath her so she’s laying her head on his lap and when Ned comes over she lifts her legs before resting them on his lap. She dozes off almost instantly, Peter rubbing circles on her temples. Her last thoughts as she starts to drift are that she loves these boys and the family they’ve become for her.

5. peter parker

It’s a week before graduation. Michelle is freaking out a bit. But she feels like she shouldn’t be. Because on all accounts, her life is pretty great. She’s going to Columbia to get her masters next year. Peter’s going to be working for Stark Industries in New York so they’ll be able to stay together. Her brother is moving to Jersey so he’ll be close. She and Peter are going to May’s wedding this summer. Ned’s going to fucking Stanford for medical school next year. Things are awesome, so she shouldn’t be freaking out.

But the other day one of the women who worked in her office proposed to her boyfriend. And it got MJ. Because she started thinking about Peter. She loves Peter. They’re going to be living together in New York. And MJ always hated the idea of marriage as a kid, but when she thinks about calling Peter her husband, her heart does little flips.

And it’s all she’s been able to think about for the past week. While everyone is panicking about moving to a new city or going to grad school or wondering what they’re going to do after college, Michelle has been sitting back, panicking because she’s in love with her boyfriend and she might want to marry him. She might want to marry him soon. She always thought she wouldn’t get married until her thirties. Because she was going to develop her career and settle into her life before settling down in that regard. But she and Peter have been dating for two years and they’ve already settled into each other. It’s not as if much would change. They’d just get tax breaks.

So MJ decides to call her older sister. But it’s one in the morning and she wakes her up and she’s not happy about it. “MJ, I swear to god if this isn’t an emergency, I’m going to kill you.”

“I think I want to marry Peter.”

Her sister doesn’t say anything for a moment. Then, slowly, as if she’s worried Michelle won’t understand: “And that’s a problem because…?”

And there’s the rub. There isn’t a problem, not really. She and Peter are doing well. She thinks they’re going to continue to do well. They plan their lives around being with each other now. She’s happy with him. It wouldn’t be a stretch if they were to get married. “I…I don’t know.”

Her sister sighs and Michelle can practically see her rubbing her hands over her eyes. “MJ, look, I don’t know why you’re scared. I don’t know if you’re worried you aren’t ready because you’re only twenty-two or if you think he’s not going to say yes or if there’s some other wild reason you think you shouldn’t ask Peter to spend the rest of his life with you. But if you want my take on things, I think if you decide you do want this, then you should ask. Because there’s no reality in which he doesn’t say yes and there’s no reality in which he isn’t happy with you.”

Her sister can’t see the smile on her face, so MJ manages to laugh despite the tears forming and says with a waver in her voice, “Thank you.”

The laugh on the other end of the phone is comforting still, even though Michelle is sure it’s at her expense. “Now can I go to sleep or is there an existential crisis I need to work through with you?” MJ laughs, thanks her sister, and they say their good nights. Before she hangs up, her sister says, “Congratulations, by the way. In advance.” And then her sister hangs up the phone. So, Michelle makes up her mind and that is that.

Then the issue becomes how does she ask? She knows she wants it to be private, like so many things with them are. But she also wants it to be special. Because he means a lot to her and she wants him to know she put a lot of thought into this.

Which is how she ends up waking up at three in the morning and heading to the kitchen the day before his graduation date. (She graduated a few weeks ago, but has stayed in Boston for his.) She steals one of his mugs and paints the words marry me? at the bottom. (She’d seen the image on Pinterest a few years back and thought it was cool.)

She wakes up slightly earlier than him and makes breakfast. Omelettes with prosciutto and spinach, his favorite. (She thinks it’s eh, but it’s easy to make and he groans after each bite and it makes her hot and heavy. They usually end up having sex afterward, but today she can’t do that. Well, at least not immediately.)

When he finally stumbles out of his bedroom and sees the omelette on his plate, he gasps. “Babe.” He walks over and hugs her tightly, kissing her on the cheek. “You’re the greatest.” She laughs, grabbing his shoulders and pushing him onto the bar stool.

“Now sit and eat before your graduation.” She puts a plate in front of him and hands him the coffee mug. She’s incredibly nervous. And she does her best not to stare each time he takes a sip of his coffee. She was worried he wouldn’t want to finish it so she didn’t put all that much in it.

She’s in the middle of talking about which color they should paint their bedroom walls in their apartment in New York when he takes a sip and then stares down at the bottom of his mug. She stops talking without realizing and he stares up at her. He tilts the coffee mug toward her and raises one of his eyebrows in question.

She bites her lip, looking down at the kitchen counter. Then she glances back up, smiling despite the nerves. “Wanna get married?” She asks, keeping her voice as steady as possible. “To me?”

And Peter jumps up so quickly the bar stool falls back but then he’s wrapping his arms tightly around her waist and lifting her up and spinning her around. She shrieks, even though it’s eight am and their neighbor works the night shift. (They’ll give him a pie later.)

He sets her down and kisses her smack on the lips. It’s sloppy and they both have morning breath but it might be the greatest kiss she’s ever had. “In case I wasn’t clear, yes.” Peter pulls her back into a hug. “A thousand times yes.” He starts kissing her neck and her jaw and MJ’s heart beats a mile a minute because she and Peter are going to get married.

Then Peter’s hand goes down her pants and she gasps, pulling at his wrist. “Peter, you’re going to be late for your graduation!”

He just kisses her and bites her ear before whispering, “my fiancé just proposed to me. Graduation can wait.” And his voice is really deep and husky and Michelle’s still turned on because Peter kept moaning after each bite of his omelette.

He smirks and continues on and Michelle throws her head back and moans. God, she’s so excited to call Peter her husband. And she tells him this. Many times. And Peter is only, like, ten minutes late for graduation. He’d kissed her cheek before he ran off and whispered into her ear, “It was worth it.”

God, she’s so in love with this dork.
