I AM LOSING MY MIND OVER THE ENERGON UNIVERSE SPOILERS FOR TRANSFORMERS 1-4, DUKE 1, VOID RIVALS 1-6, AND THE TEASER FOR COBRA COMMANDER

I DONT THINK THERE WASN'T JUST A TIME SKIP I THINK THERE WERE A COUPLE SUBSTANTIAL TIME SKIPS AND THAT I WAS A FOOL FOR NOT NOTICING IT WASN'T JUST THE 6 MONTHS IN DUKE (Not even counting how long it's been AFTER the fight with Starscream pre-6 month skip) I THINK THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A TIME SKIP IN TF ISSUE 4 I'M LOSING MY MIND, MY WIFE THINKS I'M CRAZY, BUT BEFORE I JUST ACCEPTED CERTAIN THINGS BECAUSE I WAS LIKE "Oh, huh, I wonder when Megatron's gun got ripped off.." (Starscream has no clue how long the war has been going on for considering he just woke up now, so we have no clue when the war started or how long it's actually been going on for...) EVERYTHING?? LIKE I GET CARING ABOUT YOUR PLANET MORE THAN ANYTHING BUT... "EVERYTHING???" SURELY THAT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE VOID RIVALS STUFF WITH THE DYING SUN, UNENDING WAR, DWINDLING RESOURCES, AND SACRED RING IMAGE LOOKING EERILY SIMILAR TO AN OPENED MATRIX??? RIGHT??? I think I'll try to reread some of the comics soon and form a more coherent post later that's not just SCREAMING into the void about random points that could probably be easily or obviously explained if I were able to hold more than a single thought in my head at a time. You'd think I'm exaggerating but it's been such a weirdly long day that I feel like I'm doing that one fight in jojo part 6 where I open one tab to cross reference with another tab, and as soon as I open up tumblr to write anything one of them is like evaporated from my head. It was nice getting it all out of me though! Got me to reread Prime talking about the last thing he remembers more closely and how before the crash there were only two hundred years of fighting apparently. I think I made a note of that when I first read it but clearly I forgot! But who knows how many years of fighting there have been since! Also, in the crash scene that Prime remembers Megatron still has his arm, so the most obvious solution to the original question is that Megatron fell out of the ship during the crash, but somehow lost his arm in the process, and when Ratchet was loading everyone into Prime's trailer he just so happened to pick up Megatron's arm, just for safe keeping! Further shown by the amount of damage done to Megatron's body compared to Prime's shiny new arm. Pretty much everything probably makes sense within the comic, I obviously am just jumpy to make wild ass claims because one or two details seemed weird to me and I like to playfully think all the media I consume is carefully lying to me and throwing in red herrings in the dialog to build to some massive twist that was always visible from the start. I really really like how the energon universe is going so far! Once I can get my thoughts in order, expect a more coherent post about how Sparkplug would be a perfect decepticon or something stupid like that, I don't quite know yet!

I just wanted to infodump about a Rayman headcanon I came up with a few years ago when I was heavy into the fandom. Because it *has* been a couple of years, it may need some updating. (Copy pasted from my Deviantart) Instead of Rayperson or Raypeople, I'll be referring to Rayman's kind as 'Thingamajigs', or 'Thingy' for short. And because this is based off of a game with shaky continuity, there will be some things that don't perfectly align with what happens in the game. TL;DR At the bottom.

Creation:

There are a few different colors of Lums with each color performing a unique purpose. Since The Heart of the World/The Great Protoon was once a singular object, and when broken, only broken into 1,000 pieces, I don't consider the Yellow Lums a part of the creation process. When Betilla (and company) created Rayman, they had a sack of lums and it wasn't specified exactly how many they were, or which were used. The manual description says he was created using Lums and the trailer for Origins shows Betilla rubbing a singular, large orb that looks like a giant Yellow Lum that bursts into six smaller yellow Lums. I'm willing to consider this the same as what happens when you combine all of the colors of the light spectrum and it appearing white as a result. I figure that the composition of each Thingamajig varies and the outcome is determined by which Lums are used and how many. Each Thingamajig requires at least one red lum, but more is recommended or else they'll be very prone to 'bursting'.

Lums In Creation: (The more Lums of one color a Thingamajig has, the stronger the associated trait)

-Red Lum: The more Red Lums that a Thingamajig if made of, the higher the stamina and the more resilient they are. -Purple Lum: Athletic Thingamajigs are made with many Purple Lums -Blue Lum: If a Thingamajig is made up of many Blue Lums, they can hold their breath for a very, very long time which is great for Thingamajigs who live nearby or in water or high up on mountains. If a Thingamajig has the ability of flight, this could instead mean they can fly higher and glide/hover much longer than a flying Thingy with less Blue Lums. -Green Lum: Many Green Lums mean that a Thingamajig has great memory and this usually means the Thingamajig has a lot of knowledge and experience saved inside of them. -White Lum: Similar to a Green Lum but instead of granting memory, White Lums make their owner clever and resourceful. -----Lums Not Used in Creation: --------Yellow Lums, Silver Lums, Black Lums

Lums Role After Creation:

After a Thingamajig has been created, like all living things in The Glade of Dreams, they are connected to The Heart of the World/Protoon but because they are made of Lums, their connection to the heart is very strong. All Lums emit an energy with the highest concentration being around The Heart of the World/Protoon so long as it's intact. Their whole world is filled with this invisible energy and is felt by everybody, whether they realize it or not, with the Thingamajigs being more intact with this feeling than others. The balance between Lums is always perfectly balanced unless somebody is messing with the balance, as has happened on several occasions. Every Lum emits and absorbs the exact same amount of energy, with the exception of The Heart of the World/Protoon while it's intact. This is achieved by how they are all connected on a world-wide, invisible blanket of energy. When a Thingamajig is hurt, their energy is forced out of them and dispersed in an evenly distributed burst. Displacement equalizes the energy and this all happens a blink of the eye. A Thingamajig can restore their health by absorbing the energy of a Red Lum. If a Thingamajig is ever hurt so badly that all of their energy is forced out of them, they 'burst' and their Lums are scattered, much like what happens with The Heart of the World/Protoon. A Thingamajig cannot be recreated using any random Lums; they must be recreated by finding their original Lums and putting them back together in the Primordial Forest where they were created. These Lums also cannot be absorbed by other Thingamajigs but they can be used to create a new Thingamajig, though they may have bits of memories from their past owner. However, to do this is a great insult to their original owner as it's seen as discarding and replacing the original, even if hope has been lost in finding the rest of their Lums. It's considered more honorable to simply store and keep safe the Lums until they all can be reunited, even if it takes the rest of time. These Lums are usually set up somewhere like an altar to honor the Thingamajig. A truly dastardly foe may intentionally hide Lums to prevent a Thingamajig from being re-created, but they cannot destroy a Lum. No being (except maybe for Polokus) can destroy a Lum, they can only be dispersed as energy. To disperse a Lum takes power and malice not before fathomed in The Glade of Dreams. Fortunately, if a Thingamajig is burst apart, their Lums can be heard singing a faint, melancholic melody as if calling out to each other mournfully. In the extremely rare or unlikely event that a Lum is dispersed, their energy is distributed through the world through other Lums acting as sort of 'hubs'.

New Lums can be created and it's not understood how or when the Lums do this. New Lums are created when enough of them have been absorbed by a Thingamajig and the energy is essentially recycled through Thingamajigs. This does not apply to Yellow Lums, though it's thought that the absolute basis of every Lum is the energy of The Heart of the World/Protoon..sort of like a 'primordial ooze'.

Thingamajigs and Lum Energy:

While Lum energy is equally dispersed and absorbed at any given time between Lums and the beings in the Glade, it is possible for beings to harness extra energy. Harnessing extra energy occurs under special circumstances. When a Thingamajig is topped off on all of their Lums, they possess that energy plus a little extra that's generated by the filled Lums within them. This is important because this allows a Thingamajig to become a vessel for another who is injured should they not have Lums to replenish themselves. If a Thingamajig with excess energy is nearby another who is hurt, their excess energy will automatically be shared with the injured Thingamajig, but no more. This also gives the Thingamajig a buffer if they get injured themselves and there are no Red lums nearby. (Like in Mario when you gain an extra mushroom, you get hurt and it drops down for you to grab it)

"Lum Light"

Lums emit a light but here, Lum Light refers to intense emotions that cause for the light to become so bright that the Thingamajig glows from their bodies and their energy leaks from them. This happens with any intense emotion but whether the emotion is positive or negative effects them and others around them. If the emotion is negative, the Thingy can actually 'drain' energy from nearby Thingies. But if the emotion is positive, others can absorb the energy being emitted from them and gain excess energy they could only otherwise get from having all full Lums. Fortunately, they don't give or take enough energy to seriously harm or burst another Thingamajig. Rather than viewing it as a negative that one can be drained of energy by a Thingy experiencing negative Lum Light, it's viewed as a positive thing and as a form of consoling another. If a Thingamajig is experiencing negative Lum Light while their energy is full, they will simply cycle energy between each other with the other. If the other Thingy has less energy than the one experiencing negative Lum Light, they won't take energy from them, only cycle, and will come out of the experience with the same amount of energy as before.

A very special thing happens when Thingamajigs experience Romantic Lum Light. This can happen between multiple Thingy's but for the sake of simplicity, I'll explain it using Two. (note, this can also occur regardless of a Thingy's sex or gender) When two (or more) Thingy's both experience intense, Romantic Lum Light, and all of their Lums are full, their excess energy combines and is stored in one of the Thingamajigs, usually whoever is feeling the emotion most intensely. It's thought that this is not because they are 'more deserving' due to how they're feeling at that moment, but because the flaring energy overpowers the other and just overcomes and absorbs the energy of the other. This unique event is the only time a Thingamajig can store substantially more energy than usual, even more than when their Lums are full and generate a little extra energy.

The time it takes for a new Thingamajig to form depends on how often the parent Thingamajigs engage in intense, romantic Lum Light, but also whether or not the carrying Thingamajig maintains that energy because they *can* lose the energy through injury or physical exhaustion. If they lose energy, they need to replenish it and depending on how close they were to creating another Thingamajig, may need to collect more excess energy. When it's time, a new Thingamajig is created in the form of a light that emerges from the carrier's body then takes shape, much like how we see Rayman formed in the trailer for Origins.

The new Thingamajig will possess randomized traits from the parent Thingys, and whichever traits they posses will mirror those of the parent they got the trait from. If two or more of the parent Thingy's have many Purple Lums within them, the new Thingamajig could be as strong is the parent with the most Purple Lums, or only as strong as the parent with the least amount of Purple Lums, or between; it's randomized which parent they'll take this trait from.

New Thingamajigs are quite capable after creation but have a smaller, more baby-like appearance and all around existance, somewhat like Rayman's original design. They do age and upon reaching 'adult' age, they cease to age much like Rayman and other Thingamajigs. Because Thingamajigs appear to be virtually immortal and invincible (save for being burst but they can be brought back so) they don't often create new Thingamajigs. They do, however, engage in romantic Lum Light for the same reasons that humans engage in romantic activities.

I should add that all of the Thingamajigs present in the start of the creation of the new Thingy need to be present to finish the creation of the new Thingy. If there are, say, three Thingamajigs originally, two of them can engage in romantic Lum Light, but the creation won't progress with one of the three missing, even if the carrier is present. If two of the three wish to remain together while the third has departed but they wish to create a new Thingamajig still, they can allow for their excess energy to deplete completely and start over. They can also prevent the creation of a new Thingamajig without using depletion by engaging in Lum Light with another Thingy once, then continuing with another partner and thus putting the creation process on hold indefinitely, but most who do not wish to have multiple partners simply use the depletion method which could be as easy as simply standing nearby another Thingy who needs energy.

Conclusion (TL;DR):

Lums play a large role in everything within The Glad of Dreams and especially play a huge role in the creation, upkeep and propagation of Thingamajigs.

Each Thingamajig is created using a variety of Lums in a variety of configurations which ultimately determine that individuals strengths, weaknesses and often times, personality.

When a Thingamajig's Lums are all full and healthy, the Lums generate extra energy which can be used by the Thingamajig themselves or another who's nearby and in need of the energy. The other cannot dip into the others energy beyond the extra that's generated by the full, healthy Lums within them. When a Thingamajig is experiencing intense emotion, their Lums glow brightly and they leak energy which others can absorb if the source emotion is positive, or will sap excess energy from others nearby if the source is a negative emotion. If there is no excess energy to be absorbed, then the Thingamajigs will simply cycle energy between them and come out of the experience with no more or no less energy than when it began.

A Thingamajig can be burst by depleting them of their Lum energy which causes their Lums to break apart and fly off in different directions at great distances much like when the Heart of the World is shattered. Their Lums would need to be located and then brought together in the Primordial Forest for them to take their form again, even if they weren't created there. The strong connection to the Heart of The World is needed in order for reforming to be accomplished.

When two or more Thingamajigs experience intense, romantic emotions, and their lums are full, the Thingamajig experiencing the emotion most intensely will absorb the extra energy from the other(s) and store this energy until they have enough for a new Thingamajig to form in the shape of a bright light from their torsos that takes shape once fully emerged. The timeline depends on how often the parent Thingamajigs engage in romantic Lum Light with full Lums and whether or not the Thingamajig carrying the excess energy maintains the excess energy between instances of romantic Lum Light.

The new Thingamajig takes traits from the parent Thingy's at random and are quite capable from creation but resemble a younger, baby-like even, Thingamajig not too different looking than Rayman's original design. They cannot speak right away but are quick learners and they will age up until they reach 'adulthood' where they assume their immortal like existence. Because Thingamajigs are presumably immortal and arguably invincible, they don't often create new life but may enjoy romantic Lum Light with each other the same way humans enjoy a 'date night'.

This Scene Sucks: Sora's Breakdown (KH3)

You can probably already tell from the title of the video that it sucks. Context makes it even worse.

Much has been said about the scene of everyone facing off against Terranort and the Demon Tide, and I agree with all of the criticisms: everyone stood there and let themselves get fucked over, the scene was badly paced, cinematography was horrible, etc.

But the part I'm highlighting is after that, from around 6:17 and onwards, after the Demon Tide takes out the rest of the cast except Sora and Riku and he breaks down in tears. This moment got so much hype from the trailer showcasing it, and even today, many praise it as an amazing scene, but not me.

Listen to this garbage:

"They're gone. Kairi, Donald... Goofy, the King... Gone forever. What do we do? Without them...I... All my strength came from them. They gave me all of it. Alone, I'm worthless."

What the fuck.

First of all, Riku said a few minutes earlier that they still have their hearts, which means it was not too late, but they have to protect them. Despite this, Sora just stands there and spouts this garbage instead of fighting. I could see him breaking down after the fact, or even for a little bit before he starts fighting, but this is how he acts throughout the whole scene before darkness wins. Riku isn't much better, he doesn't pick up the slack for Sora, he doesn't try all that hard to get him to pull it together, he just says a platitude. Riku comes off as an uncaring dickhead, he couldn't care less that Sora is having a meltdown over people dying, or that said people just died.

The quoted line above is supposed to be this huge callback to the moment in Hollow Bastion from the original KH where Riku takes everything from him, but it fails. Sora lost everything: his weapon, his friends, and he eventually got his act together. Seeing Beast fight that hard for the one he loved was more than enough motivation, but in this scene, he still has a weapon, and Riku is still there (I guess he's just not that important to him anymore).

He also says his strength came from his friends (again, I guess Riku doesn't count), but who was doing almost everything throughout the game? Who was the one saving everybody? Him. It's not this clever deconstruction of the "my friends are my power line" that everyone says it is, it's just stupid. This sort of scene was also done better in the previous world, The Caribbean, in the same game - the scene where he pounces on Davy Jones wass good.

Another thing I see people say is that it's a culmination of his self-doubt in 3 (an arc that I think was so poorly executed as it required him to be ooc to tell this story), and that it was buildup from DDD. Yes, people, this COMPELLING character arc hinges on context from A FUCKING SPINOFF TITLE. I think that says enough.

The scene is also hilarious considering when he sees Chirithy, he's back to being the "sunshine boy"!

In summary, the scene was way too overdramatized in context, didn't live up to trailer hype, compromised Sora's character (and Riku's to an extent, as well as the others who just stood there and died), and the lines were badly written.

Thoughts about YR S2 Trailer

Okay so the trailer is yet to release, and I have seen some discourse around the possibilities in the trailer so this is basically just a rant about it.

Like there are many people who are worried about the trailer being misleading as in the case of S1 trailer and I just want to say: that's kinda the point? Like, maybe it's an unpopular opinion but I kinda want the S2 trailer to be a little misleading. And I don't mean it in "Haha I want everyone to overanalyse every detail and suffer because I'm a maniac" kind of way. I mean, trailers are supposed to be a glimpse of the story, and a well-crafted trailer follows the concept of "show, not tell". It's not supposed to just info-dump basically the entire plot for the viewers(looking at you Netflix teen rom-com trailers). It's supposed to weave out a possibility(true or false) out of the source material to intrigue the general audience(and in case of movies/ TV shows with multiple installments, dedicated viewers too). A good trailer will not only intrigue the viewers to deduce their own possibilities, but it will also convince them to watch the show and find out if they are right or not.

And in my opinion, alluding to a particular theme in the trailer which may or may not be actually present in the show is a clever marketing and storytelling tactic. Let me take the example of another Netflix show and its latest season, The Umbrella Academy. Netflix created so much hype around a set of another superheroes, The Sparrow Academy for S3. It was evident in their Instagram posts, and most importantly the trailer. The trailer mostly alluded to the "Umbrellas Vs Sparrows showdown" plot, but the actual show was wildly different from that. Most of the Sparrows weren't even a part of majority of the plot, and there were many bigger plot points than the whole Umbrellas Vs Sparrows thing. It's clever from a storytelling standpoint because your viewers have assumptions about the plot but BAM! you hit them with entirely different twists and turns, which adds to the impact you want to have on the viewers. And it's even better from a marketing standpoint because you create buzz around the show before its release based on a completely different plot point but then the viewers are introduced to new themes and it keeps the buzz around even after the release of the show because there's just lot to unpack(like we still analyse the shit out of YR). And I really like this thing, watching well-crafted trailers and then watching the show is like seeing a magic trick and wondering how the hell does this work and then you find out the whole picture of how the trick is done and you feel even more awestruck. It's exactly that feeling.

Like I can understand many people not wanting to get "clickbait" in a way by getting something they don't like and trust me, I get you. I have also been disappointed by trailers. But this is YR. I trust Lisa, I trust the team because they have blown us away the first time and based on what we know about S2, I'm sure it will happen once again.

Also, I've seen some people talking about Simon being barely there in the S1 trailer and Simon/Omar possibly having lesser screen time in S2. But for me, it was again a clever move. Simon, from a plot perspective, was the catalyst, the Ace of the deck, the constant that brought out a whole different outcome to the equation of the story in S1. Simon and his character arc was the driving force of the plot being the way it is, otherwise the show very well could have been just a Elite Boarding School drama with Wilhelm being in a possible love triangle with Felice and some other girl(but again, Lisa's writing is not like that but still it could have been a possibility). You don't give away the Ace in the beginning of the game, you keep it till the end. Simon's involvement gave a new direction to the story, which I think was the impact the showrunners wanted to save for the release. We all know how important he was to the plot in S1, and even if he's barely there in S2 trailer as well, it doesn't mean Simon/Omar has lesser screen time. It means that he has a bigger role to play in the story. And he's obviously one-half of the lifeline of the show, Wilmon. It would be plain stupid to reduce his screen time or him not having a prominent story arc.

And to the people who are going to dive straight into the show without watching the trailer: I have so much respect for you istg. It's an experience I really want to have but I have the patience of a grasshopper so my impatient ass won't be able to resist watching the trailer. Teach me your ways😩

Plus I like having my assumptions challenged in a way. It's like having your worldview constantly challenged, except the worldview is based on a fictional world in this case.

Any thoughts on the new DLC trailer? Personally I'm surprised it's coming out so soon (April 5th).

I wasn't aware that it existed until now. I've been so busy working on Octopath projects that I haven't thought about Engage in several weeks. The timing doesn't surprise me though after the last two waves; the prevailing theory is that IS is pushing out the DLC before Tears of the Kingdom comes out in May and takes away all attention from everything else on the Switch for months.

As for the substance of the trailer, clever of them to have found a way to work in the whole fighting your allies angle that Fates and Three Houses leaned so heavily on in spite of the linearity of Engage's story. It being an AU also means that there's none of the awkwardness of the Wolves where they're only half-integrated into the main story. I would have liked to see some of the new classes though; I know at least two can be seen on existing DLC maps, but something more than a bullet point on the closing screen would have been nice.

For the AMA: so far the only plot the trailers seem to be explaining is that Galadriel is looking for Sauron. Do you have any guesses as to what the dwarves, men, and hobbits are doing in the show?

PRETTY LARGE SPOILERS AHEAD for this one but so;

Galadriel's plot and the Numenorean's plot is mostly tied together for season one, it's actually quite a clever way of getting around the time compression without getting rid of the two wars in my opinion. Essentially, Galadriel will be looking for evil, she will find it or have an idea of it being around. People will try to convince her to go back to Valinor and she'll nearly get there but then somehow get shipwrecked and picked up by Elendil. She will convince Miriel to lead Numenorean armies into Middle Earth to get at the nonspecific evil (probably this adar fellow we've been hearing about). But within that there will be an introduction of the whole 'Pharazon supporting the guilds and standing up for human issues against elven demands' etc etc I wont say anymore except that I do think this will be a nice catalyst for the rest of the Numenorean story in later seasons.

The Dwarves and Elves are tied up with each other in terms of some kind of political debate. Prince Durin and his Dad Durin disagree on how they should handle the elves, with Dad Durin being like 'Elves should leave we really don't need them anymore' etc etc and I hope they dont make him too mean so I can stan him but anyway. Elrond and Durin are friends, (the way they've been discussing Elrond and Durin's relationship has been so amusingly romantic but no they're just friends, looking forward to the fanfiction tho) Elrond is trying to weigh his convictions between his chosen people (elves) and promises made to his friends (Durin). Celebrimbor is encouraging him in this whole endeavour.

The hobbits are going to have this... admittedly convoluted looking plot surrounding both this mysterious meteor man (man fell from the sky as a meteor, he has no memories, they're taking care of him, he has special powers and I'm 100% certain it's Gandalf but I'm also really hoping it's saruman) but ALSO surrounding their travelling and whether they should change their ways. This will also involve Entwives somehow which I'm excited about.

There's a second human plot! Pre-numenorean village. This is where the elf Arondir is in love with his Bronwyn lass. Essentially, after morgoth' defeat, the humans who had worshipped Morgoth were forced to settle in these lands and change their ways whilst a group of elves watched over them. This was so long ago now that all the humans think the elves are being really goddamn annoying and should chill out. Arondir is one of these elves, Bronwyn is one of the humans who thinks they're being too overbearing. There's other stuff going on here but I'll stop there this is a bit too spoilery already.

That's as brief an overview of all the plots without giving too much away, I actually know a great deal about how this show will at least start, and even a little about how the first season might end. But I'm sure some folk want to be surprised so :)

Velma Season 1 Review (Review for Weird Kev27)

Hello all you happy people and for this fine start of april we're looking at something that's been long overdue.

So something I've only expressed a little on this blog is that i'm a massive scooby doo fan. While I grew up with the world's greatest great dane and really loved mystery inc, over the last few years i've gone from simply appricating the series to being a massive fan with a decent amount of knowledge. Together with @jess-the-vampire we watched EVERY scooby do movie, we've binged most of the shows and i'ts given me an apprication for the franchise as a whole.

So naturally the first new series since i became a scooby head was a cause for .. cautious optimsim. Yeah while I liked Mindy Kaling's previous work with The Mindy Project and felt the idea of an adult scooby doo series had potetial the combination, i was tredpedatious as adult series can mean "excellently plotted comedy where you can have a plot about abusive parenting, bi erasure and the mafia in the same episode as a country set slaughter fest, said abusive parent putting dildo's everywhere because he assumes that's what gays like and an extra horny shark man who statistically has boned half of every room he's entered. "… and sometimes you get show's whose whole identities are random cruel violence, dickery and

Sadly.. Velma ended up this way, with the trailers presenting a show that not only didn't really care for Scooby doo, but picked the most obvious ways to deconstruct it while loudly scremaing

In lieu of actual adult conversations or themes. It had specks of those but it was mostly just obessed with proving how clever clever it was. So let's talk about tha tunder the cut eh?

Yeah while we WILL be hanging around for Scooby Doo, we are not talking Velma.. yet. I haven't even braved it just yet, as a combination of the counltess dickheads crticizing it for being "woke"…

The series making everyone but Fred POC was a GOOD idea .. it just seems couched in a lot of jabs that come off as them having never watched a damned scooby doo show past where are you. I'm not sayin gi'ts required to watch thousands of hours of scooby doo to make an SD property, but watching a FEW episodes of more recent series to make sure your stuff is fresh and checking to make sure yoru ideas are either new or a diffrent enough take on an idea to work. While i'm not sure if the writers of recent series like Mystery Inc, Be Cool and Guess Who? have seen EVERY scooby do thing, it's clear al lhave seen enough of the franchise and know it well enough to play with it, from making it a cosmic horror story , to a wacky comedy with Fred and Daph tweaked signifigantly, to a team up show that has Malcom McDowell take our heroes to a distopian future where Shaggy and Scooby have no tonly surivvieed this long but are fighting to the death.

I will give Velma a shot eventually and likely cover it too, but for now me and Kev just weren't all that invested. He might have me cover it later and if he decides not to I might still just do it anyway, but for now that's just not something i'm going to be doing

Instead.. .we're covering something that DIDN'T get released. Yeah as a special treat i'm taking a quick look at Scooby Doo and Krypto Too. SDAKT was supposed to be another scooby doo direct to video film, coming out to allign with the Super PEts MOvie, which I also need to see at some point. Problem is it was made during WB"s Tire Fire years, and it along with a HEX GIRLS MOVIE MY GOD YOU MONSTERS WHY DID YOU CANCEL THIS, were scrapped, and the latter was nearly complete.

That would've been the end and given the project was never even ANNOUNCED, as is common as Warner only tends to announce sd movies a few months before release, and Warner's Habit of locking good animatoin in indiana jones vaults.

Thankfully some brave soul we still don't know leaked the film, which not only leaves potetial for more of the stuff they've refused to release to get out there, but was a nice hearty fuck you to a company and president who prides trying to stop bleeding money in the sleaziest way possible over actually making things tha tmake money. I"ve been vocal as hell about The Warner Bros Discovery Tire Fire so you better belive me and Jess watched this asap. And if WBD had a problem with that.. they PROBABLY shoudl've let the film actually come out then instead of destroying months and sometimes years of effort and locking it in crate to make 5 dollars, as their's legally nothing they coudl do. They did try to remove the film, but this being the internet once it was out there they couldn't undo it and it's already in the wind as it damn well should be.

So naturally when Kev, after several diffrent ideas I won't say in case we end up going with them at some point, suggested this I was all on board. But when you strip away all the controversy what do you get?

WEll you get a pretty decent Scooby Doo Team Up Film. Scooby Doo DC Team UPs are far from new, going as far back as the Scooby Doo Movies, and only increasing once warner started syndergizing it's propertie smore While a LOT of it is naturally fitting team ups with the world's greatest detectives including a full on reunion movie for batman brave and the bold that I love dearly, they've also teamed up with the flash, wonder woman and even had a dc comic ENTIRLEY DEDICATED to team ups that featured my boys the doom patrol among MANY other deeper cuts and currently have one just for batman and the bat family.

It's still weird though to see them team up with Krypto, but not unwelcome. It helps for me at least that as a big comcis nerd.. I fucking love Krypto and as a teen got a two pronged attack that made me a lifelong fan of the pooch: Krypto showed up in Geoff John's run of teen titans as Connor's loyal canine (with Clark having given Connor his dog), and a mostly realstic dog who just happens to have kryptonian powers nad wear a cape. The other was the opposite an da series that's only grown on me with time, Krypto the Super Dog. While meant more for the preshool set, Krypto was still a LOT of fun, going in a more silver age direction, throwing in things like Streaky, Supergirl's cat in the comics, and Ace the Bathound and best of all the Dog Stars of the Universe, who I was shocked to fine werent just made up here to serve as Krypto's own Legion of Super Heroes.. actually existed in the comics. Why they haven't been brought back I don't know. you look at a bucnh of dogs with weird super powers in space and tell me it's not gold.

So finding out this existed was great. And honestly even putting aside the stupid shelving.. it's a solid DTV Scooby Film. i've watched all of them, not hyperbole, and while i've seen far better, including the recently released trick or treat scooby doo, this is still a fun entry.

The plot is kinda simple: The Gang visit Metropolis just as the Justice League has gone missing and no other heroes exist in this universe because plot convience. Our heroes are summoned by Daphne's old friend Jimmy Olseon to help Lois Lane look into this. Lois is perfectly played here too being fast talking, no nonsense and only not investigating herself because 80 thigns are going on at once with all the supervillians running riot. Jimmy less so as he thinks hea nd daph are together and has been telling people such when they never reallyd ated. We also get Fred being jealous of which I have some notes on.

I won't talk much about it. It's bad, it shoudl feel bad and the only saving grace is it's not DAPHNE IS JEALOUS OF SOMEONE BEING INTO FRED WHILE THEIR NOT TECHINCALLY A COUPLE PLOT #98. Seriously it happens a LOT. A LOTTTTTT.

We also get our usual parade of supsects: a foodtruck lady running challenge of the super fries, the local valet whose tired of super cars because Green Arrow apparently has a SECOND arrow car just for metropolis, and what have you. The main suspect and treat of the film though is Lex Luthor. Lex is played to hammy perfection, not only trying to buy the hall of justice but being open about being a buisnes scumbag and eventually being forcced by circumstance to work with our heroes, wtih him and velma playing off each other really well. Lex is easily the best part of the film. He also gets a great moment as while shockingly he's NOT behind it, his assitant mercy who in this continuity is in love with him and was tired of Lex being more buisness luthor and less mad scientest luthor was behind it to try and do an evil scheme since he wouldn't. I mean.. I can't see her complaint: Buisness scumbag luthor is STILL miles ahead of piss in a jar luthor.

Still it's a nice motive.. and Lex was not only AWARE the whole time , he only let it play out to see whta she could do and hacks her robots for her plan easily… then reveals he let her plan go ahead to buy time for his: to demolish the hall with giant robots. Naturally she loves this and they get together. It shows off both versions of luthor great: the cold buisness man who uses hsi money and cleverness as a weapon, and the mad genius who hates superman and wants to destroy something only tagnetally related to him out of spite. his evil dog rex even turns out to be a robot and knowing Krypto was around he put a chunk of kryponite in him and the robots

Krypto himself.. works really well and is the heart of the film. While Luthor is EAISLY again the best part, Krypto's main traits are shown off: he's loyal, loves his master and the feeling is mutual. Krypto was left behind by clark for his own saftey after the fight that sent the group into the phantom zone, and it's clear all Krypto wants is his master back. He dosen't get a ton of characterization fo ra movie based on him, but it's nice seeing his inherent bravery and invunerbality contrasted with the gangs cowardice or his confusion when in one bit , Shaggy triggers the kitchen, the JLA's danger room , and it makes it into an actual kitchen, with his confusion bein ga nice hint at the gag. We also get a real solomon grundy who just wanted to pet dogs. And how can I not relate to a fellow swamp monster who just wants to pet dogs?

The climax is great, wtih our heroes and various red herrings stepping in, a truly climactic figh tnad hero much like his master powring the fuck through even at his weakest. We get a heartwarming reunion.

Scooby doo and Krypto Too isn't a top tier, one in a millon DTV scooby movie but it's still an excellent one. And while NO FILM deserves the sheving WBD heaped on it, this film is an easpecially galling example of that and if you can find it out there, go do so. It's a fun tight 90 minutes. We return to our reguarlly scheduled nonsense in an hour or so. Thanks for reading.

Hi!

Ever since I saw the trailer for this movie i thought "well this animation is going to be unimaginably smooth", and you know what? It was! The last animation with such a good understanding of limits and clever technics to work around those limits was Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, and even tho they are set in completely different settings, and with different kinds of storytelling, they are both masterpieces in art of animation.

I haven't even mentioned the thing that anytime you pause this movie, you get a still with a beautiful Latino landscape painting done in some mashup of Picasso's, Salvador Dali's, and Goya's styles.

About the story, it's a thoughtfully created and fun homage to the well known phrase "memento mori" - remember that you have to die. I mean, walking to the cinema to watch the kid's movie made by DreamWorks, I was prepared to have fun not only as my inner child but also as a grumpy adult I usually am, but I was not prepared to feel those feelings. Every part of my psyche that was fearing my sudden but imminent demise was screaming in unison, when panic attack was so beautifully and relatably shown on the screen. It's in every way perfect to teach kids (and not only) about dying and respecting their life!

Now to the characters, I love the Puss, but it was a bit like meeting an old friend: yeah you love him, but you don't even think about why you love him, and it's fine, and even with his character growth he's still THE Puss in Boots, and I love the writers for it. I did not remember Kitty well, but she was reintroduced in a very smart way, so it's cool. The real showstealer of the movie was Perrito the puppy. At first I thought he's just another Donkey-esque character, stupid and singing while Puss will be an annoyed Shrek character, but I couldn't have been more wrong! He turned out to be the greatest and the most optimistic friend you could ever meet, and I wish everyone had this kind of therapy friend for themself.

I was a bit disappointed in the lost potential of Goldie and Three Bears because they could have had a much better motivation that was hinted at us for the whole story, I was, on the other hand, pretty satisfied in the character of Jack Horner and I'm a bit surprised he's not shown in any promotional material.

Overall, music was rather good, with some amazing moments, but it does not match the heights of animation in this movie.

Gonna do a lil' mini review for some of the bots I got recently, so here goes...

First off, Velocitron Scourge. Very, very, very nice figure, I love his colours, his lightpiping is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, and hes an overall solid figure!

My only niggle is his gas tanks, which flip out from his thighs. After siege optimus' leg transformation, earthrise, kingdom, and legacies primes have fallen short in my opinion.

Trailer is decent, not much interest in that, but his sword and axe are cool.

Next up, we got Legacy Tarantulas. A cool, creepy dude, who looks absolutely epic. I love his colours, and his transformation is chef's kiss.

It might just be me, but i also feel like his head is just sliiiiiightly too big, in comparison with the other beast deluxes.

Love his grapple gun, and his pizza slicer, which is a nice reference to his transmetal form

Number three, SS86 Sludge. Hes a big boi. A very big boi. Quite possibly the biggest boi. And hes amazing! Transformation is brilliant, pretty much nowhere near what i initially expected, with so many clever little bits, hes just a joy to have, and he looks very good next to my grimlock (still need Sla... Slug. Heh. )

Hes got a big blaster that looks pretty good, but i have no idea what his gun is supposed to look like, so i dont know how accurate it is.

Velocitron Override/Nitro Convoy next. Shes ace. Ive watched the unicron trilogy once when i was younger and dont remember much, only that everyone says its terrible, which im choosing to ignore. However, i absolutely love the designs, and override is a shining example of how good they are. I love her epic shins, her head aculpt is noice, and i love the new design of her gun, and that it can hold one of the old cyber planet keys!

I do worry about her translucent red chest and the hinge its on, but theres been no signs of stress yet.

Heres the problem child though... Buzzworthy Terrorsaur... Honestly, I ordered him on a whim, and then immediately regretted it, and found out that you can't cancel an order on pulse unless you contact customer service, who got back to me after it had been dispatched and couldnt do anything. I decided to keep him, because the golden disk one costs more than I'm worth. Objectively, a very cool toy. Brilliant colours, nice mould, all that. The problem is that he's not MY terrorsaur, if you get what I mean. I never had the original toy, my only experience with him is the show, who had a completely different colour scheme. However, hes growing on me.

Also, his ankle vall joints are quite loose.

Most recent acquisition, today actually, is Legacy Blitzwing. Very mixed bag honestly, i love his bot mode, it looks brilliant, but the other two are slightly lacking.

Out of his alt modes, the tank is easily better. Thick, chonky, and bigg. Very nice. Only complaint is the cockpit on the front, which i feel couldve been covered up with some panels flipping in off the shoulders.

But the jet... Ehhhhhh... It wouldve been so much better with ough the sides of the tank just hanging off the underside. But as usual, one of the modes of a triple changer has to take the fall, and the jet mode was it. At least it wasnt the whole figure, like the t30 version!

Guns are cool, so is the sword, and i couldnt care less about the big hands. They went into the parts draw immediately.

I saved the best til last, Velocitron Cosmos. I love him. So much. Hes my chonky lil man. I love the colours proportions, headsculpt, even his lil flag and gun are brilliant. Hes definitely worth the arm and leg i paid for him, and i would do it again. Was it a bit much? Yes. Am i happy with my purchase? Hell to the yes.

His UFO/landmine/doorbell/boob mode is brilliant too, the gaps bother me nowhere near as much as i thought they would, and i love how the head flips into his chest, rather than messing about trying to pull the head from a tiny hole.

I'm gonna be honest the trailer scares me, it seems like Devi is going to hide her pain and trauma of literally seeing his dad die again.In S2 we don't see Devi being vulnerable about it with her therapist until ep10 and it was because she finally had time to focus on herself without boys drama and now that she has a boyfriend and is going to try to be popular and cool, i love the romcon part but Devi needs to heal, I hope her friends help her more this season (big hope in Ben and Aneesa helping her since they both tried to be "popular" but realize it wasn't real and ultimately decided to stay true to themselves)

hi anon!! I definitely understand why you'd be worried because the trailer focused significantly on the popularity/relationships aspect of the show. however, trailers are often intentionally designed to be misleading, especially when they're targeting a certain audience. look at the second season trailer - from everything we saw in the s2 trailer, I thought the entire season was going to be about Devi having two boyfriends and I did not anticipate that plan falling apart by episode 2. I think the s3 trailer is similar in the sense that they're showing as little as possible in order to deceive the audience, and I'm betting that the majority of the scenes are from 3x01-3x02.

oh, and as much as I hate to say it, the main selling point of this show to the general public is the love triangle....so it makes sense that they would focus on that in order to market the new season. but I really believe that the heavy focus in the trailer doesn't necessarily mean that the whole season will be like that. the few short clips of Devi and her mom/grandmother, as well as the Indian holiday episode clip in the new trailer give me hope that the show will focus more on her family and culture this season like it did in s1. and the scene where Dr. Ryan reminds Devi that relationships aren't everything gives me hope that Devi will finally learn that she doesn't need to use relationships to deflect from her grief anymore.

also!! I really love the idea of Ben and especially Aneesa trying to rein in Devi when her pursuit of popularity gets taken too far. both of them have been victims of this mindset themselves (Ben flaunting his wealth and behaving in an overly pretentious manner to get people to notice him and Aneesa starving herself because being thin made her more well liked to the girls at her old school) and it would be really clever writing to have them advise Devi against going down that road. we know that the trailer showed a voiceover of Ben telling Devi not to try so hard, so I'm genuinely hopeful that we will get a scene about this very situation and I'm excited to see it :)

Rebirth trailer

So, I haven't actually given my theories on the lines we heard during the trailer, so let's go! I'll be using the JP scripted lines since they're more accurate.

Aerith's the first person we hear and it's her typical monologuing like at the end of part one when she's talking about fate and life and shit. As Tifa stated in OG, "Aerith talked about the future more than anyone", so expect to hear a lot more of this throughout the time she has left alive.

She's gonna be as annoying as Genesis constantly quoting Loveless.

Cloud's lines could be when they're at the Kalm Inn. He's summing up Sephiroth's plan, so it's something you'd expect to hear early in the game so players get an idea of where things are heading.

Cloud's next lines could be referring to the Nibelheim incident. We know in part one, he carries a lot of guilt whenever he feels he failed Tifa, and the Nibelheim incident is his biggest failure. He couldn't help anyone. His mom died, the villagers were massacred, Tifa almost died, Zack almost died. Everything was a shit show and Cloud puts too much on himself always.

Tifa's line, though it's meant to sound like it's from the same conversation, I have a suspicion it's later in the game at the whirlwind maze when Sephiroth finally manages to drive a wedge between them. Tifa's memory of the Nibelheim incident is sketchy af, and she and Cloud are literally the only survivors. I said before that not only does Tifa affirms Cloud's identity, but he does the same for her. Without Cloud stating that she's the Tifa he grew up with, her identity is lost. And for someone who's suffered multiple incidents of amnesia, having someone know everything about you is very important. They're each other's lifeline, so to have Sephiroth put doubt in Tifa's head about her own identity, puts doubt in her memories of Cloud and who he really is.

It'd pretty fucking clever actually, and relies on n indirect route to get Cloud to break, since we know Cloud doesn't trust a word Sephiroth says.

I'm sure people have said that because Cloud can recall Zack's name now that it's an alt timeline blah di blah, but at Gongaga, Cloud heard Zack's name and talked about him with Tifa and Aerith and nothing happened to him. I think because by that point he's firmly established his identity in his head and swapped their roles around or conveniently erased Zack from places where his presence contradicts Cloud's story. The first time he heard Zack's name Jenova didn't know what to do about it so removed everything. Once it becomes clear that won't work because of the people around him, jenova has to craft a suitable story that works within the confines of Cloud's fake persona. That means he can now handle hearing Zack's name but won't remember everything about him.

Obviously Aerith's line is the one she says at the GS. Does that automatically mean she gets the date or that the date unfolds the way it did in OG? I doubt it. I've heard. Few things about the GS, not to mention the foreshadowing in part one, and I have a feeling it's not the win certain people think it is. Not that it ever was. I mean, who wants to go on a date with someone who spends the whole time talking about their dead boyfriend?

And we finish with Zack's line, which is cryptic af. I've heard people say it's to Aerith for not returning, or to Cloud for not saving him properly. I see it more as a regret to Angeal the same way Cloud was regretful towards Zack in AC. Zack promised to live up to Angeal's memory and pride, took his sword and then died a few years later without accomplishing much. Cloud felt the same when he stood at Zack's grave, so even though this is the least likely, I think we shouldn't discount the bro option.

So that's my thoughts on the lines we were teased with ❤️

Believe it or not we started the day yesterday in a conversation with a couple from Arizona.

It was one of those "Good morning!" "Good morning!" exchanges that opened up an instant conversation about our travels and wound up with a Show 'n Tell of their rig.

Meanwhile, Kimmer's taking a shower expecting our rig to be set up, water boiling, by the time she gets back... which is exactly when I'm touring our neighbor's across the street rig... which is also exactly the moment I hear her calling my name.

Because she's at our minivan and I...

Am completely not.

So I call her over for a tour of her own, the rig in question belonging to a snowbirding couple from Arizona who right now live on the Olympic Peninsula and are staying at the RV park as proof of concept that their utility trailer works for road tripping.

Which it does, by the way.

It's basically a one-room space on wheels with a double-bed and storage area (for, among other things, their awning and table and chairs). And the whole thing's wired for electricity and heat.

Seriously. The husband opened the side door and it was warm in there.

As Kimmer continued the conversation with the couple, I excused myself to set up our rig and get the hot water going.

After breakfast, I got into an impromptu conversation with the young man next door who was also doing dishes just then.

Turns out he and the young woman he's traveling with are working from the road. They actually spend the first part of their days "at work". Then, after lunch, they take off to explore wherever they are.

They're from Florida, by the way. So their way of life on the road is serious.

They're outliers on this trip of ours. Because, compared to the demo of everyone else who's traveling these roads with their massive homes on wheels, these two are seriously young. Driving a truck with a camper mounted in the truck's bed.

The truck and camper are jet black. And these kids definitely travel light on their feet with plenty of tech.

Yesterday was the last day of our July road trip. So next on the agenda was breaking down our minivan camp set up. Which took a bit of doing because it's definitely a clever Tetris job on Kimmer's part... and this is our first time striking this particular set.

Finally, after a ton of wrangling, it's time to leave.

Given our experience getting here the other day with that three-hour wait for the ferry in Edmonds, we initially set out to take the long way home through Olympia. However, after checking the Kingston ferry terminal website, we decide to take our chances with the Edmonds/Kingston ferry again, figuring we'll stop in historic and lovely Port Gamble along the way. Which is exactly what we woulda done had I not missed my turn onto 104.

And why did I miss that turn?

Because I thought the right branch at Quilcene was 104.

At which point I just kept going.

And yes. If you haven't guessed by now, I wasn't using Google Maps because, you know, how tough can this be?

This is the second time this year, by the way, we wound up going somewhere we weren't meaning to go. In the first case, traveling from from the St. George/Hurricane KOA to Zion National Park in southern Utah, I had to turn us around, backtrack a few miles to right my wrong. In this case, by the time I realized I didn't recognize where we were and thought to check Google Maps, we were within spitting distance of Port Townsend.

Twelve miles.

So Kimmer suggests we head that way to see how much it's changed.

Just barely on the outskirts of town, we're distracted by the local Habitat For Humanity (a more thrift shop experience rather than hardware in Port Townsend) and the local GoodWill that's a few blocks back.

After that we continued our way into the town that completely reminds me of a slightly bigger version of what Pioneer Square should be. And no, the town hasn't changed really at all since the last time we were here at the start of our marriage.

So now we're cruising the historic district, pretty much at the north end of it, when a car pulls out of its parking lot right there... and I pull right into it just because.

And now our agenda becomes Port Townsend on foot.

Just like that.

Really our agenda's food and wine... and right away we run into the beer & wine garden for today's music concert. Unfortunately, the concert's still a few hours away so we continue down the block. There's a lot of local art here. A lot of clothes and fashion. Definitely a lot of wine. Definitely a lot of history. There's even a little shop with a metric ton of variations on flavored and aged balsamic vinegar.

Seriously. Try the blueberry flavored one on vanilla ice cream and you'll absolutely understand what I mean.

Eventually, after walking down one side of the street and up the other, we settle on a restaurant called Vintage by Port Townsend Vineyards where we indulge a Discovery Red and a Discovery White, a glass of red blend and white blend respectively, topped with a platter of meats, cheese, olives, crackers, and dark chocolate cranberries on that deck next to Puget Sound on the perfect summer's day.

Sunshine... but not too bright.

Warmth... but not too hot.

And breeze... but not too much.

An absolutely lovely way to draw our 3-day road trip to a close.

so like. i'm super curious. how do YOU think the friendship between robin and nancy is gonna start in s4?

ahaha hey i appreciate you wanting my thoughts on this. so keep in mind i really haven't explored the st4 story/theories beyond watching the trailers like once and sorta skimming thru what people say on here. so there's quite a bit of context i could be missing.

very short answer in case you dont actually want my whole rambly thought process about their characters and whatnot (sorry idk how this happened.) i generally agree with the fandom's understanding of them being somewhat bitchy/standoffish at first, but i do think some ppl take it to... an absurd extent... like it comes across like 'women can't interact without fighting/having a rivalry!’ like. they’ve now been described as a ‘dream team,’ there have been enough little moments (mostly from robin) that planted the seeds for them to interact later on, as well as their mutual friendship with barb. so like, this idea that they’re gonna entirely fail to mesh doesn’t work for me lol.

ok i realized i didnt fully answer your actual question till later in this rant so tldr: i think theres a good chance nancy realizes she doesn’t have anyone her age in hawkins that really gets her/what she’s been through once jonathan leaves and kinda awkwardly reaches out to steve and robin in some way. or, she gets pulled into the investigation of the creel house/asylum and she and robin just kinda. pair up. whether by choice or not, really idk which to expect.

generally what i gather from them is they're both leaders. they're very intelligent. we've seen how bright and clever robin is, and nancy is dedicated and similarly smart. a lot of people think they might butt heads, and i think that's possible, but i think it could absolutely be in a way that motivates each other? like i think they could challenge each other’s thoughts and push each other. which would be really advantageous in investigations and whatnot.

i mean, something people overlook in considering them is how theyre...... i don't want to say foils, but like right we have these lines of robin assuming nancy's a priss. she's not like your other friends, and not like nancy wheeler. i think there's a more vulnerable side to robin that we see in that coming out scene, and she might feel insecure in how she relates to other girls/her peers in general? particularly in the 80s. and especially seeing nancy as this pinnacle of a high school cliche, i could see it being a point of discomfort.

meanwhile nancy. well, nancy kinda wants to reject traditional suburban ideals and all, while still absolutely living in the comfort of it (hence the whole jancy fight in s3). i think she needs someone that challenges her and makes her sort of uncomfortable in this. LIKE. im not explaining this well. i don't think robin's throwaway 'priss' line is totally accurate and it'll be really interesting to see that explored outside of the mall battle; at the same time, i think if robin brings that witty/sarcastic humor she had at the beginning with steve to the table, even a little bit, nancy would be thrown off by someone not immediately agreeing and going along with her plans/thoughts.

and that's a good thing imo! for the type of person she is, it obviously is good to have someone willing to collaborate and listen, since she cares so much about what she's doing and does the work to deserve to be heard. but i think a lot of growth could come from her being challenged by robin not always bending to her will. and i also think, given the time to collaborate, they’d both learn to appreciate and respect the others’ intelligence and perspective. that’s just my take.

so. the vibe i have in mind ignoring the plot for a sec. like. i think it'll be very awkward at first. what's interesting is they have a lot of assumptions about each other to break down. like, robin went from the whole priss line to witnessing nancy in the mall fight in one night. and while we don't have a huge indication of where robin is on nancy's radar, im willing to go with the popular fandom belief that she'd be a little confused about her relationship with steve at first. but wouldn't want to ask right away. or maybe she would. idk. point being, she's probably at least sort of on her mind. particularly with jonathan leaving. she seemed to only really be close to barb, and then steve (tho she had some walls up). she hung around tommy h and carol, and ig there's a throwaway line abt a girl named ally, but she doesn't really seem to have a lot of close friends. so like. it could be that she approaches robin at school, or even at her and steve at family video, bc she doesn't really have anyone else in hawkins that gets what she's been through. if not that, and she just floats along with acquaintances, then whenever they're introduced i think it'll be like something ive already mentioned.

rq im gonna dig into something i think a lot of ppl overlook which is what we got from rebel robin. i think she's supposed to be like 15 in it, so obviously she's matured a bit in current canon, but she's this very inquisitive and excitable and passionate kid. she seems to want a lot of answers that she can't always get. naturally likes a challenge. we know who else is like this. ANYWAY nancy also pops up in rebel robin! it sorta throws a wrench in the 'who are you?' line, bc as far as i remember, they acknowledge each other.

and a big one. barb was robin's best friend up until like 6th grade!!!!!!! robin absolutely remembers the girl who replaced her as a best friend (maybe that’s where some of the resentment lies? though it was a long time ago), and nancy was likely aware of robin as well, as unless they had some big falling out, im sure barb and robin were still friendly. there's a good chance they played together as young kids - it's a small town. anyway, they’re connected through barb. in theory at least, it’ll probably be nice for both of them to have someone who understands the grief of losing her.

um another thing about barb. im pretty sure she was gay. right. first of all, queer kids flock together somehow far before that realization, and like, the sulking after the fight with nancy? the fashion? idk. anyway, i really don't think nancy would've been totally thrown by barb if she ever had the chance to come out. it might've been something she had to learn about and sit with, but i personally think ultimately it would've been fine. i know some people even ship them or at least suspect a one-sided crush. so, this idea that she'd be a total dick to robin abt it just doesn't line up with me. also, like, if it's a popular fandom belief that mike is bi/gay, and it's essentially canon that will is, we've seen how much she loves them! im not saying a equals b, im just saying dont rush to say she couldn't ever get it. but also i think some of the thoughts of her being very clumsily supportive/taking time to get used to gay people could be very accurate lol. part of my reading of her does come from noticing some repression, as is natural with the wheelers in general.

we know one way or another they wind up exploring the asylum together. idk if this comes before or after the group goes to the creel house, but. at some point they must either realize they both have the same questions and team up, or are forced together after the group starts investigating. i think this will follow some sort of flow of what ive said before.

this is my understanding of the show and characters and dynamics and all, obviously some people read the characters in very different ways. im just doing my best with my perspective. can’t wait to see how right or wrong i am lol <3 thanks for asking if u read this far

Answering questions about Eagles 4x03–4x04 (Part 1) 🏒

Thought I'd do another one of these so I can try to answer all the asks I've received about the two latest episodes before the new ones drop! I've gotten a lot of questions so they won't all fit into this post, which is why I'll also make a part 2. If you've sent in a question about the latest episodes but it's not included here, it will most likely be answered in the next part.

This question was sent in before the episode premiered, but you pretty much hit the nail on the head considering the scene we got in episode 4! I actually wasn't expecting a scene with Petra telling Elias about her past relationship with Mats but I guess he had to find out somehow.

I'm really curious to see if Amie will also find out about the relationship soon and what her reaction to it will be. I really enjoyed how Elias reacted by saying Mats was an idiot and then saying he wasn't like his dad. I think that's pretty significant evidence that Elias and Amie won't be a repeat of what happened with Mats and Petra.

Elias gets such heart-eyes whenever he looks at Amie and it's absolutely adorable. It was actually a little jarring to see Elias go from being totally head over heels for Amie to acting so aggressive when he got wasted at the party. I mean, I'm pretty sure he's still head over heels for her, but I don't think we've ever seen Elias behave like that before.

I hope that Elias's conversation with Petra means we'll get to see Elias and Amie find their way back to each other in the next two episodes. Even if that might be unlikely, this angst is already killing me!

I don't think so, at least from what I remember! There was a scene in 1x06 where Elias and Felicia are watching a horror movie on Halloween and Elias has his "did you know vampires used to exist" monologue, but I think they were watching a different movie than the one Amie had on.

However, I do think we've all seen a variation of that scene where Amie watches the horror movie in some form or another—just maybe in a different show.

I thought the scene was funny so I'm definitely not complaining, but it's a pretty common trope to have a character be watching a horror movie and build up suspense to a minor jumpscare.

It reminded me a little of this scene from Mean Girls! It would've been hilarious if we saw Amie spill her popcorn like that too, because I've always found that scene so funny.

Elias is really adorable when he geeks out about stuff, like with the Norrsken movies! I can really relate to you saying you like Elias's lighthearted undertone, because that's one of the reasons why he's my favorite character.

Now that you bring up not rushing things with Elias and really exploring him, I'm starting to wonder if maybe this eating disorder storyline was introduced too late? I don't know, it's probably too early to tell and we'll see based on how the storyline unfolds, but I hope it won't feel rushed.

I have to admit, that was on my mind while watching the scene too! Otherwise it was really sweet, but I kept thinking that Amie should've at least thrown Elias in the shower first lol.

You're definitely right that the scene felt bittersweet considering Elias's problems, and it broke my heart when Elias said the whole thing was a stupid idea. But it was such a well-written scene overall.

Also, they really threw us for a loop by how they cut the "Then I'll break" line from Elias in the trailer. They made it seem like Elias would really be clinging to Amie, and then it turns out that Amie was the one who brought it up in the first place.

That was really clever editing on their part to cut out Elias's emphasized "then" in the trailer. In the trailer he says "Then I'll break", which made me assume that the whole concept of breaking would be Elias's idea. In the episode, where we get the full line and build-up to it, he instead says "Then I'll break". When the line is emphasized and in response to Amie claiming that Elias will break from his overworking, it totally changes the meaning of the line.

That's probably a tiny detail that doesn't really matter much in the grand scheme of things, but still! I wrote a whole post analyzing that line from the trailer only to be completely fooled lmao.

I hope it goes well too. But if I'm perfectly honest I would've preferred to not see Felicia in a romantic relationship this season, and instead just working on herself and not depending on other people for happiness.

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but I just can't see any romantic chemistry between Felicia and Naima. I obviously knew the writers were building towards something with all the flirting, but an actual relationship? I don't really know. Their kissing scene felt strange to me.

Even if I did spot romantic chemistry between them, I feel like Naima wouldn't really be the right person for Felicia right now. I mean, we don't even know what caused Naima to end up in rehab. For her and Felicia to start a relationship when they're both right out of rehab seems like a recipe for disaster to me. I'm still not 100% sure about this storyline, but we'll see how things unfold!

I agree! I loved that Klara was immediately accepting of the relationship too. And now that you mention the detail about Amie hinting about her concerns about Elias to Klara, it got me thinking. This isn't entirely related to what you asked, but I'll write it down in case anybody's interested.

Maybe some people will disagree with me on this, but I hope Klara won't be the (main) person helping Elias with his eating disorder. That sounds bad, but hear me out. I definitely want Elias to get help, but I've noticed that the writers keep having Klara help people as a way to convince the audience that she's really changed and become a good person. I mean, she definitely has. But her character development should've come more organically instead of having Klara become this saint who solves everybody's problems.

So far Klara has helped Felicia after she attempted suicide, helped Ludde by taking him to the school nurse after he got injured and then helped him by (almost) reuniting him with Felicia, and also helped Amie with the contract. She even helped Mats and the whole Eagles team in season 3 by becoming their sponsor.

On top of all this she's a businesswoman at age 18/19, having no prior education about how managing a company even works. She's basically just learned things as she goes—all while balancing her studies and also managing to help all other main characters in some way or another. It's just a little too much, and that makes Klara an unrealistic character for me.

Anyway, back to your question! I think Amie's decisions really show maturity and that she's grown since season 1 and 2. She obviously loves Elias very much, but also cares a lot about his health and well-being.

I agree with you—I can't see Elias going back to train hockey in the US when hockey and elite sport in general has become such a destructive environment for him. My guess is that he won't be pursuing a professional hockey career by the time Eagles ends, and instead going to the US to pursue something else.

My personal prediction is that we'll see him follow Amie to the US to study at a university, with my guess being that he'll go to film school since Elias has shown an interest in movies. If he chooses to pursue a career in film, it would also make a lot of sense for him to go to the US (maybe Los Angeles?) with Amie.

It definitely wouldn't be healthy for Elias to go to the US to keep playing hockey. If that happened, I can see Elias thinking he needs to work even harder to prove that he deserves to be there and that would definitely break him.

I'm manifesting a happy Elias and Amie going to the US, with Amie getting a contract with Gabrielle and Elias going to film school. Imagine if Elias started directing Amie's music videos after finishing his education? That would be so adorable.

Same! I love all the Petra and Mats interactions we're getting in this season.

Petra really just appeared out of thin air in that scene, but it was fun to see her be so confident and straight to the point after all we know she's been through when it comes to Mats.

I think that Petra had a good reason to tell Elias to stay away from Amie, actually. She tells Elias that Amie has her career to think about, which is exactly what Mats ended up doing when it came to his hockey career all those years ago. My belief is that Petra was just reminded of her past experience and tried to be helpful to a young teenager who hasn't really got everything figured out. The dislike she harbors for the Kroons is obviously there too, but I also think Petra simply believes that pursuing your career trumps true love. Let's not forget that Michael also left Petra to study law.

In that scene with Elias, it almost felt like she was giving advice to her younger self. Petra isn't doing this to be malicious—she obviously just wants to save Amie from any potential heartbreak (and by extension, Elias).

Well, that's my take on it anyway. Coming from a very biased Petra stan.

Me too @lovelygirlinbleu! Things aren't looking too bright for Andreas right now, and they're probably about to get even worse when we find out what diagnosis he actually received. The scene where Andreas is singing about how his time is up and Sam is just sitting in the background looking completely crushed was so sad.

I definitely have mixed feeling about the scene where Felicia is crying in the trailer. She's gone through so much already and I just want to see her be happy for once. It wasn't just a regular crying seeing either—she looked absolutely broken in that shot.

This season really is bittersweet. I like what they've done so far with balancing it out with more lighthearted moments, so I hope they keep that up.
