Part 1 of the new arc!!!

lots to say about this update! leo deserves a Calvin and Hobbes moment cause I said so. He's back o being a downright menace in this update - but with new goals in mind!!

New Mission: Fix Everything.

It took forever to sketch, possibly because of introducing a new character but also a general lack of motivation to actually sketch it...

TMNT:HME and other projects have been occupying my mind lately, but now that Kid Leo au is no longer in the tournament and I'm able to work on the main comic some more, I should be able to finish this arc up pretty quickly!!

This first part is pretty long due to the way the comic is cut up - less panels and it would have been too short, so I went with an extra long update as a treat!! Updates will be a bit different for this arc, I'm going to try and post as I draw them/every few days rather than every day cause I don't want to get too burnt out on it (esp before starting the last few arcs cause they're BIG)

Thank you to everyone who voted for the Kid Leo au in the T3 polls btw!! I already made a post about it, but I was genuinely surprised we go as far as we did!!!!

I HOPE EVERYONE ENJOYS THIS ARC, IT ENDED UP BEING A LOT OF FUN TO DRAW!!!

I am not somebody that hops onto the "comic discourse" a lot. I usually prefer to talk things through with my friends and share opinions in private.

But since Tangle more or less got ignored so far i take the chance and talk a bit about her appearance in 64

She jumps in as a supportive character towards Whisper and helps her to prevent another breakdown. While yes, there was a scene in Urban Warfare that did the exact same thing, i feel like with issue 64 we finally see how strong of an impact this support actually has on the page. (I talk a bit more about Urban Warfare further down this post.) I don't even dare and call this bait (Edit: Not my words btw. i saw this used in another heated post. I personally never felt baited in any form. If anything, the girls relationship is one big highlight in these comics.) because it simply isn't. Here is a character that cares for her partner and also is uncomfortable with the whole situation to begin with. She has to decide where her priorities lie. Her reaction is to be expected to be focused on a trembling Whisper and all i can say is i'm glad we finally have a good depiction of that.

Tangle has the right to approach Whisper in ways i think no other character is able to, she earned it and it pretty much shows on this page. Softly taking down Whisper's mask and checking on her, the body language in these panels is chefs kiss. She's truly a bouncy girl, but it's good to see her being serious every now and then, i feel like it's a side of her that people usually tend to ignore. (And i really don't know why that is.) Evan Stanley does always an amazing job if it comes to showing Tangle in a different light or how she cares about her friends and loved ones. In regards about the current arc and even the last one, i feel like this post is a good chance to add my personal take to it as well, since it's been on my mind for a good while now. I feel like 64 finally makes a step into the right direction again.

To elaborate a little on that, i wasn't really a big fan of Urban Warfare, simply for the fact that it's pacing is all over the place. There were a lot of things that needed to be covered, to name a few: - new team building - Whisper's trauma - Lanolin introduced as a new character - a LOT of other teams jumping into the scene - the city itself all squeezed into a 5 book arc. One more book compared to a mini series that usually gives full focus to a set of chosen characters.

To make this clear, there are also good things in Urban Warfare as well but thanks to the fact how rushed the whole story felt in it's core it's a bit hard to enjoy the good bits as well...

Misadventures still deals with the same pacing problem and i believe that is where the real issue lies. As a reader/collector of the books and longtime fan of them, all i can say is:

I wish the comics would get their old, well cared, time for details back. Yes, a story like the Metal Virus was a long run but in the end it was a fantastic read. Mini arcs like Trial by Fire (Still one of my favorites), that focus on other things instead of the usual action, are also very important for character development and add a lot of depth to them. Endless Summer is a great example for such addition as well. These books provide insight into character interaction we usually don't see otherwise. Of course i have no idea how much SEGA is involved into everything if it comes to general decisions like how long one arc is supposed to last and when the next one should start.

(The next part is based on my personal taste, this has nothing to do with the general narrative of the books. I just want to share my thoughts about this since i really don't write them down a lot.)

As a little side note, i feel like Lanolin is a great character so far. Her stubborn and rule book like demeanor as a leader is refreshing to say the least. She also seems to be really close to how her creator ABT imagines her to be and i really appreciate that. But i can't help it and feel like her team dynamic with Tangle and Whisper comes of as rather… rocky ? On a combat level of things it works really good but on a friendship level it's somehow lacking atm. There is this boss and coworker relationship going on that feels more like real work. Obviously though she's new and needs more time to get better established. I guess we will see how this plays out in the future. I'm all in for a good or funny team dynamic but i also can't help it and feel like she works better as an addition to Jewel, running the restoration, the navigator typ that sends intel via com instead of a field combatant. Even if she proved she's good at close combat as well during her encounter with Whisper in 64. That being said, i am all open for surprises and more character development on her part. This is really just a "now" opinion and can easily change over time. I like the sheep, i really do.

hey frends!

just a lil update to say that i'll be moving soon, so over the next 2–3 weeks i'll be quite busy and won't be able to post a lot a lot (not that i usually post that much but i do try!)

now that many panel shows are wrapping up their seasons, it's not too much to keep up with the masterpost or anything, so i'll definitely keep that chugging, but gifs might be a little slow :') i have a few requests i'll work on, and it's fine to send those in; plus, i said i'd be making BIG gifsets for the recent taskmaster contestants and i'm definitely working on those! i wanna do a good job so taking my time :)

it's funny, i've been hearing a lot about blog competition and fighting for notes and monopolising panel show content blah blah in my inbox recently. (i only included one here but there's genuinely been quite a few just in the last couple of weeks.) i don't know what might be going on on other blogs or discords or whatever, and i honestly didn't even know these were still convos people are having; i kinda thought we all agreed that this site isn't as big as it used to be, notes aren't as plentiful as they used to be, but by golly we'll just keep on posting anyways. i don't know if there are edit tags for any panel shows but i don't use them; i just post content here for my current followers and if you guys like it then that's all i wanted to do. i don't care if there are other panel show blogs with more followers or posts that get more notes or better gifs or better blogs or whatever. it's all fine. i don't care. i don't think about it. so you don't have to ask me that stuff — how to grow your blog or get more followers or more engagement, or how i feel about other blogs that post the same content as i do — i won't answer it. just post it because you want to; don't race to be the first one to get stuff at (especially at the expense of making content you're proud of!); don't put other people down; don't send anonymous hate. just be cool and worry about you. if you can't have fun here without validation in the notes then you're gonna be miserable. flopping is integral to being active.

About the cosplay: It's Hawk!!! 🥰 And hey!! I did a much better job than Halloween last year I think 😹✨💙 This was what I meant talking about the variation thing in my last art post btw~ I had two people recognize my character!! The joy I got from that was undescribable 😩🙏💖

About the con itself: OH MY PRIMUS I'D BE HERE ALL DAY TALKING ABOUT EVERY COOL THING I SAW 😭💜 Let's just say that I was incredibly lucky to find the stuff I got, and I'm grateful to have gotten it (yes btw that is a screenshot from a tiktok I made about this, I'd put it here but Tumblr is really weird about posting videos so....check my TikTok ig? 😳) // It was truly awesome to see all these figures and things from shows I barely see anyone talk about yet which I care deeply for, NOT TO MENTION THAT EPIC TABLE OF ENTIRELY VINTAGE JAPANESE G1 STUFF WAAA 😭🙏💕💕 So yea, I got a lot of cool stuff, I met some ppl (including a nice conversation with the actual Aaron Archer!! He signed some stuff for me and even left doodles with the signatures!!! Like a smol Unicron or an Optimus!!! That was very cool 😌✨) I saw a lot of cool cosplayers who I didn't have the courage to talk to, but I'm glad I could admire all the creativity and passion from afar :] And the panels!!! Were all very interesting!!!! The Peter Cullen one was awesome, and the script-reading one at the end of the day was also very fun!!! I read for Minerva's part in the audition period, and though I didn't get it, I enjoyed that little moment! Plus, the person they ultimately chose did an amazing job with the script!! ✨ It was purely just cool to even see Minerva on that screen for a while--tbh, we stan the Masterforce rep I saw all throughout the day 😩💖🔥 or, well, I stan that...😳✨

About Meeting Peter Cullen: In short? Surreal ✨🙏 So, I'd signed up for an autograph when getting the tickets for the con! And that Optimus you see up there is the thing I meticulously drew as the print. I wanted it to be something special, so I literally poured my heart into that...tbh, it did turn out quite nice!!! ^\\^

From here I'll repeat exactly what I said in my Instagram post: Though brief, I'll never forget those couple moments. I was able to tell him that theres a lot I struggle with, but that Optimus has always been a real friend to me, and I thanked him for the role he's played in my life...after he signed my print, I asked to give him one, and then mentioned actually, I'd drawn these, and he was so impressed. He read the captions on the banners aloud and said "That's Optimus alright!" (I was grinning like an idiot sjsjsj) & before I gave the copy, he asked *me* to sign it for him 😭 the highest honor for me as an artist ngl 🙏 Reading my name, he said he was glad to have met yet another unique individual like myself...before leaving, we shook hands and he told me I should keep going, that I'm doing great. I couldn't stop smiling as I left.

So basically, Saturday was a dream--in fact, many dreams came true Saturday. Thanks, TFcon Chicago, it was a wild and fun ride I'll never forget~

Hey there! It is possible that you have me confused with @happyfoxx-art who is the one who does the Aftermath comic, so maybe she can say a thing or two about her comic process.

The comics I'm more known for are "The Brains and The Brawn", "Puppet on a String", and "Mikey Bakes a Cake."

In case you are asking about me specifically, I'll talk about my comic process. I usually start with lots of brainstorming in the form of daydreaming and occasionally scribbling out ideas. I often switch between creating a script and sketching out rough scenes depending on how visual the moment is. If there's more dialogue or I want to note down the events panel-by-panel, I'll script more, if the scene is more action-y and I have a specific idea for the layout that I want to visualize, I'll sketch it. I already talked about how I figure out posing in my sketchwork on a previous ask.

Often I create the scenes out of order and write/draw whichever comes to mind first. For example, these are an assortment of drawings I did on my first concept sketch page for "The Brains and The Brawn".

These are from pages 3, 4, 8, and 10, and while they have nothing to do with each other, they represented the main ideas I had for the comic overall.

After that I'll essentially finalize my written script to make sure everything flows well story-wise, and then go about adding or subtracting panels to lay them out in a proper page-like format. It's kind of like slotting puzzle pieces together to see what fits. This is how I get more dynamic action paneling in my comics. Below you can see some of my more disjointed initial sketches (left) become a bit more finalized (right):

From there I block in all the panels with lines, then trace over the sketches with lineart, and fill in the lines with color. Those stages involve a little less thinking on my part, since a lot of it is just filling in what I already have planned out.

I would personally like to get a bit better with color since I tend to color-pick from other source material a lot. I'm hoping in my next comic project to get a bit more trippy and abstract with the coloring. I make sure to keep each color on a separate layer, and group the layers by character to keep things organized. I usually fully color a character at a time.

After that, I add in lights, shadows, and any special effects. I think the shading and lighting is where it really comes together because it adds a nice sense of depth to everything.

Eye shines are very important to me.

I do dialogue and sound effects last. Yes, there is a basic dialogue I put in the script, but honestly, I struggle most with dialogue (I am shocked folks think that the lines are so in-character), so I put the most time and effort into finalizing that. I will make sure to keep space for where the dialogue bubble should go, but it's often filled with placeholder dialogue until I finalize it on the last step.

I'm aware that this is rather rare for comic artists - often the dialogue comes/is blocked in first for most from what I hear, But for me, the final drawing helps me figure out the right mood/tone for the dialogue in the end anyway. That's just what works for me.

first comic is leaning more on mic's. side

;After getting into the hotel, she's. absolutely miserable but keeps trying to pretend she's fine (she is not). Of course, Soap and the others notice her mood and one of them eventually get to talk to her about it. But even as she does open up, she never outs Taco. Ever. And blames it on the contest. Soap/Whoever confronted her knows it isn't true, but doesn't push further. After the talk, Mic basically just sits there and contemplates, before deciding """past is past""". Eventually, she starts thinking about the whole thing less, and she's smiling a lot more the next few days/weeks. Er. Until. That one night.

The second comic - or, in both comics - , here's Taco's side

There was actually gonna be more similar..things.. in both of the panels i put up above,, but i decided they'd look too similar to each other so Taco looks angrier in the second one

It all starts when Mic walks through the portal. Yeah. She didn't expect that. Taco's not someone to be caught off guard; her moves are calculated, and she knows the outcome of something even before it had a chance to start. She's memorized the puzzles and patterns on an object's mind, knows how to use it to her advantage - knows how to manipulate it into what she needs it to do. So why was it that she..?

She's teleported to their little spot, and her emotions are. overwhelming. At first, she feels.. sad. Distraught. Distraught that Mic left. Then, she feels.. angry. Angry at Mic for even leaving without any further word. Angry at Mic to have the AUDACITY to blame ..her. And she's angry.. at herself. Then, she's sad again. Her mind goes back to the words Microphone last spoke to her, and it stings, just as much as when she first heard them, if not more. She sits on the log -[soft thud]- oh, nevermind, she's on her knees in the soft grass, head in hands. She grips her shell tight and tries to shout, to let out the scream that's been trying to claw its way out of her throat, to get all of the overwhelming thoughts out of her head, but all she can manage is a choked sob, her throat tightening as she curled into herself.

And I'm only now realizing I'm getting WAY too carried away so fast forward everyone:

Taco thinks back on all the mistakes she's made, and back at one of her.. biggest mistakes yet. And, after a while, she decides she's done running, and she's not letting her slip from her grasp that easily. Not again. Not like him.

So, she writes, and writes, and writes, and writes. Until, after over fifty crumpled papers and about three half empty cups of - now cold - tea, she's finished. A letter to Microphone. She spilled her heart out on it, not leaving a single detail on everything she's done, opening herself up completely to the object never expected to break down years worth of built up walls. She's a little hesitant as she sends it to the hotel's mail, and then she waits.

She doesn't respond. Its not the first time. She takes a deep breath. No, she's not letting it faze her. She needs Mic to see she's being genuine. Why couldn't you be genuine from the start? When she most needed you to be?

She sends another letter, this time, directly into her room. She drops it through the little window, and she runs off before anyone notices her. A week passes. She doesn't respond again. She doesn't give up. She sends another letter, and another, and another, and another..

Two months has passed since then - has it really been that long? - And she's on the floor, miserable. The cracks have gotten worse and she can barely see with her right eye, she can barely stand, and her knees feel weak. Her head feels heavy, and her mind goes back to quiet picnics, white bowties and purples hues. And it just.. hurts. It hurts. It hurts, so much and she doesn't want it to. It hurts, and she's angry. Angry at herself for even considering to leave Microphone after they get the million. She's angry at herself for not paying attention to what may have caused the whole thing. Angry at herself slipping up the one good thing she had.

Did you ever have her?

She's angry at herself for being the reason Microphone left.

so in the most recent drawing (which looks fantastic btw) Hunter's half is in chronological order from top to bottom, so i'm assuming that's the same for the other half? Setting wise that checks out, Belos' dress is the emperor's garb throughout, except for the first one, which based on the loose hair is likely his preacher get-up or some other middle stage between Philip & Belos. Which means, if i'm a) reading this correctly and b) not overthinking it, that either there were significant gaps between (some) grimwalkers, at least in the beginning, or that for some reason those four were the most significant to Caleb. Are they the just the deaths he happened to see? Was there anything about the grimwalkers in particular that makes them stand out? It's within possibility that the last two drawings are of the same person, though I don't think that's likely simply because of the formatting. If the last one was intended to be Darius' mentor, drawing Belos dropping the mask instead of a death is a clever way working around the possibility of a canon death being codified. (and it's emotionally resonant or whatever) I'm just spitballing some Things I Noticed, here--there's a lot to notice!

My friend, I am so excited you're paying such close attention. You are correct, silhouetted Belos in the first right panel is indeed in his preacher get-up, and the panels are indeed in chronological order. As for why I only drew four deaths, I am forced to admit the actual reason is... that I only had four panels. Only so much room on the page I'm afraid, and I'm not about to go overboard drawing out exactly how every single unfortunate Golden Guard died. For two of them I picked out Matthias and Obed, a pair of grimwalkers who have been mentioned previously and who we will learn more about later. The other two drawings are honestly just there to fill the space and get the point across.

You're right that there WERE actually fewer grimwalkers than in canon, and sometimes (possibly significant) gaps in between them, but the number I've been using as a loose guide is actually thirteen instead of four.

Anyway, applause to you, anon! You are incredibly observant. Love hearing y'all's thoughts on these posts, makes me so excited when I get to confirm someone's guess is right!

This is gonna be a weird question and I feel kind of bad about asking you so many in such a short amount of time, but here I go again:

There are comics that show pieces of Bruce's childhood that aren't about the murders but about the time Before or After. And sure, a lot of it is standard happy-kid-with-rich-parents stuff but then there's also this:

Batman: Gothic comic. His friend gets killed and right after this Thomas has the great idea to go watch a certain movie called Zorro, where Bruce won't at all lose them as well, uh huh.

Or this, after his parents' murder:

Or the next one which is little Bruce's favorite bedtime story. I'm only uploading two more pics to get my point across because I've never added pictures to my asks and this is a test run, basically. Anyway, just so you know, there are more panels than these two:

And now comes my question:

Do you have headcanons about other traumas/weird incidents in Bruce's childhood? His parents' murder always gets highlighted but they're living in Gotham, you know? There's gotta be more.

(Btw if you're interested, on my nowsaday8 account I collect all kinds of mentions of 'Bruce's childhood' wether they're headcanons or legit comic panels, so there's the rest of some of the panels (i.e. the gory children's story) I added in here. You'll have to scroll down a lot, though.)

Please, don't feel bad at all! I really, really adore asks, I truly love rambling about characters I like! I just got busy, lol.

And oh my goodness, these are all so incredibly interesting? I'll be honest and say despite trying to write a fic about how Bruce was growing up, I haven't had the idea to explore what his academic life would be at this young, especially depicting like this, so thank you for showing me these! That happening right after Zorro movie is insane, but incredibly interesting on how Bruce understanding of the world, and of cruelty. I gotta marinate on these, omg.

The storybook is interesting as well, I want to possibly look further into that, but I do think it makes sense Bruce might've been a morbid child. With how particularly information seeking Bruce is an adult, he's gotta know every last detail, no one can convince me he was even worse as a child, curious about everything, including morbid or grotesque subjects. Was hanging onto every word of his father's descriptions of any surgeries or details about organ functions, not at all squeamish.

And getting trapped within the manor trying to find answers? That's so interesting oh my gosh! All of these are so incredibly interesting, genuinely.

I really wanna offer some little ideas of HC's and of the such, but I don't know! I think parent's death is such a naturally fucked up part of his life, it's harder to think around that, but for one idea, I do think he was a bit of an outsider at school before and especially after. That, and he always enjoyed heights. Climbing tallest trees, finding different ways to the manor's roof, hiding away from peers on the school's roof. Plus, personal HC of mine is the "Brucie" persona has always been in development, and a young, quiet Bruce has always been an avid people watcher. Catch a random ghost-like boy upon the high stairs, staring at you intently during a gala and maybe even mouthing along to what you're saying before disappearing into the shadows.

I think while she won't admit she's ever "looking" etc etc, there are some common threads I see in her ships; loyal/dedicated to her, shows her kindness even when it's not super obvious she needs it, doesn't underestimate her intelligence, physically affectionate, and maybe a little able to see through her bullshit, too?

🍰 : What's something your OC counts as unforgivable?

Betrayal. Honestly you can see that in the fact she's so hard on Troy, and admittedly on Dex until he fakes his own death. I don't think she'll ever be friends with Keith either. I think some of the reasons are professional but I also think on a personal level, because she doesn't trust easily to begin with, she feels really humiliated by putting that trust in the wrong person.

🍟 : What does your OC admit to be their guilty pleasure? What actually is their guilty pleasure?

I feel like she'd say her guilty pleasure is "the usual shit" like alcohol, cigarettes and strippers whereas it's actually stuff like the 90s Disney movie songs, the trading cards and for a long time, the period novels/reading in general that she's secretive of. The last one she becomes less secretive of by the post-SR4 period because if not working she's usually curled up on the ship somewhere with a book. BTW I'm still pissed off about how much work I put into her bookshelf only to not finish this comic:

For the record I q. like Matt in the first panel but the second... meh.

Anyway, she doesn't pretend that food or sex are guilty pleasures, even if a little voice at the back of her head (her mom) says they are.

In which Dove lies in her previous post and found something she cares about.

Is Veronica STILL DATING REGGIE IN THIS? THAT WAS UNCLEAR AS HELL WITH HOW SHE'S BEEN ACTING TOWARD REGGIE! Especially when she last saw him at her place. It had an uncomfortable tone in my opinion, but I GUESS THEY NEVER ACTUALLY SPLIT UP, EVEN THOUGH SHE STARTED ACTIVELY GOING AFTER GILBERT????

(If this comic was better, then they would dive into this and why Veronica cheat/dates multiple guys at the same time/this sort of double-standard thing that is going on here. Now that would be interesting to dissect.)

I understand the casual fling thing, but they didn't seem serious. Also I wouldn't have realized that THEY WERE STILL DATING/WHATEVER THEY'RE DOING.

I hate how cute Veronica and Gilbert are together. (Translation: I love them together, but I don't like whatever is going on with Reggie and Veronica/Veronica's situation. It's messy and I want to see it explained.)

THIS FIRST PANEL WOULD HAVE BEEN HELPFUL EARLIER. But also??? Are you dating him? Are you gonna refute that? What's going on here???? I know she calls Gilbert her boyfriend, by why not say you've broken things off with Reggie? I swear I thought they weren't a thing even casually anymore.

(This first reaction is gold just a btw. I will give the artist that)

But also this comic wants to television drama so fucking bad, but it can't even visually do that right. Or writing wise because I feel crazy just thinking about Darren's character right now. Prior to this episode he appears to be a great and thoughtful guy, but now there's this scene where he's implied to be a cheater (which is really rich coming from Veronica. And once again I bring up double standards. Because nothing's happened to her because of her own cheat, but she can make threats to other people? This is vaguely reading like Season 1 and the whole situation with Jughead where he is vilified the entire time).

But any way I think it's a mislead on purpose, and that Darren is not a cheater. But also I'm like, "At what expense?" while reading this scene. Because if he's not a cheat then we are vilifying Darren in order to make Veronica look like a good and loyal friend and that doesn't fly with me. It feels off
