"Everyone’s a writer -- painter -- poet! Everything is avant-garde or chic!
We’ll be in the know before we know it... When you’re in the know, it’s -- Oh, it’s magnifique! To find in Paris what you seek..."

Jacob Cromwell's graduation from Hogwarts truly was an underdog story, to most people's minds. After getting roped into the likes of R, losing his two closest companions to petrification and death respectively, getting expelled, and finally getting trapped in a magical portrait for seven years, it was something of a miracle when he was able to turn it all around with nothing but his astounding intellect and magical talent, graduating with full honors in the spring of 1991. Many presumed that after the trauma he'd undergone, Jacob would settle into life at home with a respectable new career in the Wizarding World -- his sister Carewyn certainly did, taking a much more peaceful job at the Ministry of Magic as a lawyer.
Jacob, however, celebrated his graduation and freedom by traveling the world and doing and learning as much as he could -- and in those travels, he ended up making quite a name for himself, not as "that delinquent Jacob Cromwell," but as a freelance magical researcher. One of those people who took immediate notice of Jacob's brilliance in this regard was a witch who ended up becoming a very good friend of his -- the statuesque Headmistress of the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, Olympe Maxime.
It all started when Jacob finally -- after pecking away at it off-and-on for about two years around his travels and random Cursebreaking expeditions -- finished a scholarly essay applying the principles of Muggle chemistry to various Potions ingredients. It was a subject he'd first experimented with in his fifth year at Hogwarts (right in the middle of his Potions OWL, ridiculous as it was), but Jacob had felt more prepared to return to the subject after doing more research and even covertly sitting in on a few Muggle chemistry classes while traveling abroad. Then over the span of the next twenty months, he wrote out a full piece on all of the research he'd done, adding in some theories about a variation of the periodic table possibly being applied to various Potions ingredients and how applying the principles of organic chemistry to Potioneering could spur the invention of new Potions. Jacob sent a copy of his essay to his former professor and friend, Horace Slughorn, and the ex-Potionsmaster reacted with great enthusiasm.
Pleasantries aside, though -- Jacob, my boy, your essay! I spent an absolutely lovely afternoon reading it over a glass of brandy, and I was simply enraptured by it! I hope you don't mind, but I've already sent a snippet of it off to a friend of mine who writes for The Practical Potioneer, to see if he'd be interested in publishing the whole thing in some future edition -- such a thing awaiting your explicit consent, of course.
Jacob enthusiastically gave Slughorn the "go-ahead" to send the rest of his essay along, if his friend expressed interest in publishing it. Later that year, when Jacob came home for Christmas, he was able to surprise his mother and sister with their own first editions of the potioneering magazine containing his essay. Lane was so delighted and proud that she actually ended up bursting into silent tears.
"The Practical Potioneer," she breathed, her wispy voice choked with emotion. "Oh, Jay...I used to read that every month, when I was in school...whenever the Hogwarts library got in a new copy that I could check out...and now..." She brought her hands up to cradle her son's cheeks, "...now my little Blue Jay's gotten published in it!"
Jacob opened his arms in anticipation of the big hug his mother gave him, squeezing her tight. Despite being just as strong of a Legilimens as Carewyn, he'd never been as good at sensing people's emotions as she was -- but in this moment, he was positive: his mother was so, so proud of him. And that feeling filled Jacob up with so much vindication and warmth that he too felt close to tears.
Both Lane and Carewyn would put Jacob's article in positions of honor. Carewyn framed all four pages of Jacob's essay and mounted them on the wall of her office under a print of Hogsmeade village Badeea had painted for her. Lane herself left the magazine with her son's essay out on the side table by her favorite "reading window" for the rest of her life, and she shared it with every single one of the few visitors she invited to her cottage.

As fate would have it, a French Potioneer traveling abroad on holiday picked up several Potioneering magazines from the countries he visited, so as to read them on his long train ride home. One of those such magazines ended up being that very edition of The Practical Potioneer, and the French wizard was thoroughly charmed by the theories presented by the British researcher called Jacob Cromwell: so much so that he translated the essay into French and then sent it and the original magazine to the French Wizarding World's main newspaper, Le Cri de la Gargouille. The paper then published the translation of Jacob's essay in their paper in February 1994, specifically as part of their Mode de Vie Magique section -- a section that was, in fact, a favorite of one Olympe Maxime.
About a week after Le Cri de La Gargouille printed Jacob's translated article, Jacob received a letter via owl post that was sealed with a light blue seal marked with a cursive "B" over two crossed wands.
Monsieur Cromwell, Firstly, I must apologize if this letter reaches you more than once. When seeking out an address for you, I was informed that you currently have no permanent address, and so I had to get creative to find a way to contact you directly. Fortunately it seems that the Owl Office in Paris is most resourceful in locating witches and wizards while they are on holiday abroad. But now, to business. A week or so ago, while reading La Cri de La Gargouille, I came across your essay regarding the application of Non-Magic chemistry to our own Potioneering, and to put it simply, I found it absolutely enthralling. I profess no expertise in Non-Magic science, aside from the psychology books I've read by Non-Magic authors, but your knowledge of the two subjects is clearly thorough, and your conclusions in comparing the two were fascinating. Your application of Non-Magic chemistry to Potioneering is a subject I would like very much to share with my older students, in preparation for their entry into the Wizarding World. And so it is because of this that I cordially invite you to the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic for a high tea on the afternoon of March 1st, at 3 o' clock. Please RSVP as soon as possible -- I hope that since my return address is so prominent, your response should not take long to reach me. Chaleureusement, Olympe Maxime Directice of the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic

To say Jacob was thrilled at the prospect of visiting the famous Beauxbatons Academy would be an understatement. He was so over the moon at the prospect that he sent letters to Carewyn, Lane, his best friend Olivia Green, Horace Slughorn, Filius Flitwick and Madam Rosmerta about it, before he finally calmed down enough to remember that he hadn't even RSVPed to Madame Maxime's invitation properly.
Salut, Madame Maxime! Jacob Cromwell
Jacob then had to immediately set about making travel plans to France. First he took a boat from Rebun Island (his current location) to Tokyo; then he took a very long plane ride from Tokyo to Frankfurt, Germany; once he'd gotten his bearings, he then took a train to Paris, where he was able to take the Floo Network from le Place Cachée to the Wizarding village of Lapinfort, by the outskirts of Lourdes. It was in Lapinfort that Jacob was handed a response from his sister Carewyn, which had arrived via owl the previous day.
Dear Jacob, I just got your letter. I can't believe you're actually going to visit Beauxbatons Academy! I know how much you've always wanted to go there, and to know you've been invited there by Madame Maxime herself...I'm so proud of you! I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm rereading your letter as I'm writing this and I can't stop smiling. Truly, though, I hope you get on with Madame Maxime, and that your lecture for her students goes well. I met Maxime once when she accompanied my school friend Penny's penpal Aurelie Dumont on a visit to Hogwarts, and she's a very glamorous woman. But please, Jacob, I'm begging you, don't make ANY comments about her size -- she's even taller than Hagrid, and I get the feeling she's secretly very self-conscious about it. The last thing I want is for you to make a bad first impression!! As the French say, "bonne chance!" Write to me as soon as you get this, and then be sure to also write to me all about your meeting, after it's over -- I want to know everything. Love you, Carewyn
Jacob wrote Carewyn a quick note to let her know of his safe arrival. Then, once he'd finished, he went into town and found a carriage led by flying horses that could take him over the Pyranees mountains and to the famous Beauxbatons Academy of Magic.
It was truly as beautiful of a school as Jacob's books had claimed. Just as Hogwarts was a mysterious, grand stone castle, Beauxbatons was likewise a kind of palace, though one far more ornamental and delicate: a true French chateau, framed by elegant gardens trimmed with fairy lights.
As Jacob disembarked from the carriage, he found himself enchanted by the tiny seashells embedded into the cement paths that led through the gardens. He soon found himself wandering the left of these paths, rather than looking for the entrance properly, and found himself embarking on a quest to locate the center of the hedge maze he'd found himself in. It wasn't until about a half-hour later that he found his way back out and to Beauxbatons' entrance.
When Jacob reached the grand, white front doors, they sparkled with silver sparkles as they opened for him. Clearly the school knew this was a welcome guest, rather than an enemy -- Jacob's eyes lit up at this thought, and only became brighter seeing the school's interior.
The ceilings were even high than Hogwarts's, and shining as bright white as a spring-time sky full of angelic clouds. The halls were framed by large, beautiful, painted marble columns trimmed with gold, as well as countless living portraits trimmed with ornate ivory frames. There were crystal chandeliers decorated with colorful glass flowers and ivy that sparkled with even more fairy lights. Living statues were mounted in displays of honor down the hall, and they all turned their heads to look at Jacob as he passed. Everything was so bright and pristine, and yet not flimsy. There was power here, inside of this ageless, seemingly fragile beauty: the kind found in the Greek Parthenon or the palace of Versailles.
"Ah...Monsieur Cromwell."
Jacob looked up, startled, to find a very foreboding, but beautiful woman dressed all in light blue satin with a white feathered-shawl around her shoulders, approaching him. She was large before she got close, but once she had, she towered over him, nearly as tall as the ceiling.
Like Hagrid, Jacob recalled.
The thought of the friendly gamekeeper, as well as of Carewyn's letter, made Jacob grin from ear to ear.
"...You must be Madame Maxime!"
"Oui," she said lightly. "You are late, Monsieur Cromwell -- I expected you 'alf an 'our ago."
The Directice's dark eyes flitted over the much smaller man, taking in his incredibly informal white t-shirt and jeans with muted disapproval.
Jacob, however, was blissfully unaware of this.
"Oh yeah -- sorry about that!" he said brightly. "I was just exploring your gardens -- fabulous hedge maze you've got, on par with the one at Villandry Castle. I think I found at least one of its treasures in my wanderings -- that is, if you don't count the absolutely beautiful Herbology specimens...nearly got caught in that French Devil's Snare, when trying to examine your color-changing peonies. But at the center of the maze, I found your garden of wood nymphs -- "
Maxime looked very startled. "You found eet?"
"Yeah! Bloody brilliant use of Concealment Charms, though -- took me about ten tries, before I got the order of turns right...but yeah, so I found the garden in the center, and that tree...absolutely stunning! I don't even know what breed it is exactly, maybe a variation of Wiggentree, but it's exquisite! Is it unique? It surely must be -- I've never seen one so big! Anyhow, the wood nymph Queen wasn't so keen on me getting close, but once I showed her I meant no harm, she pointed the way out for me...who knew wood nymphs would be so keen on Whitney Houston? Though really, I don't blame them -- Whitney's got a wicked set of pipes -- obviously I couldn't do her song the same justice she would've, but hey..."
Many a person had found Jacob's talkativeness exhausting to deal with, in the past. Even Jacob's first friend and love Duncan Ashe had frequently had to tell Jacob to shut up now and again, whenever he'd go off the deep end in rambling. Surprisingly, however, Madame Maxime didn't seem the least bit uncomfortable or overwhelmed -- if anything, her expression bloomed into something a bit more intrigued.
"You zaid zat you not only found our garden for ze wood nymphs in less zhan an hour," she said, "but zat you also earned zheir favor? Monsieur Cromwell -- I do not zhink you are aware of quite how rare zat is."
Jacob cocked his eyebrows, smiling fully. "Why, because of your Concealing magic? Ah, well, I am a freelance Cursebreaker, a lot of the time...puzzles are my favorite thing. And magical creatures are always groovy -- you should meet my friend Hagrid, he works at Hogwarts, he's swell with creatures..."
"What I mean is zat conquering zat maze is a test all seventh year students must face 'ere at Beauxbatons, in order to graduate," Maxime said, her smile spreading more fully. "And most only reach ze garden, before 'aving to quickly leave it. Ze wood nymphs are very protective of zheir tree -- which, yes, is a one of a kind specimen: I rescued it on a trip to Greece myself," he eyes twinkled with a bit of mischief.
Jacob blinked. Then his face broke out into a bigger smile than ever, his skull-like light blue eyes positively alight with delight.
"So does that make me worthy of touring the hallowed halls of your Academy, Directice?" he asked, raising his eyebrows eagerly.
Maxime beamed. "Quite worthy, Monsieur Cromwell."
"Groovy!" cheered Jacob. "Because I was meaning to ask about your school's architecture -- everything I've read about Beauxbatons states that it was built in the 13th century, but all of the decor and landscaping I've seen since I got here is distinctly Baroque -- more properly, Rococo-inspired, which wasn't popular until the 17th century at the earliest. I would assume Beauxbatons has gone through some structural changes thorough-out the years -- understandable, given the history of war on France's borders, in contrast to the isolated Scottish Highlands where Hogwarts is situated -- but are these original from that period, or was it brought back in a revival, after the fall of Napoleon and the virulent anti-monarchist views held by the common man had calmed enough that such beauty could be celebrated again, rather than solely condemned?"
Maxime indulged Jacob's questions as they walked down the long hall and then up a grand staircase to her office. Once there, she offered Jacob some tea (which Jacob drank to be polite) and a dish of endlessly duplicating chocolate madeleines (which Jacob couldn't stop eating). While drinking their tea, Maxime asked Jacob some questions of her own about the kinds of magical research he'd been working on, which prompted Jacob to go off on a tangent about poisons and antidotes, which in turn got Maxime eagerly talking about the perfumes she mixed herself, using the flowers grown in the Beauxbatons gardens.
"Truly, it iz also not zo different from your non-Magique 'chemistry,'" said Maxime. "Just as with Potions, you zimply need zome zort of essential oil, a proper base, and zhen different 'notes,' to achieve ze desired effect. Combine jojouba oil, lavender, and rose with just a 'int of Lady's Mantle as a top note, and voila! You have a perfume zat not only makes you feel relaxed and beautiful, but makes you both smell and appear even more beautiful, to ze people around you."
Jacob's eyes lit up. "Using Beauty Potion ingredients in perfumes! What a groovy idea! I can't wait to tell my Pip -- she's always liked lavender as a scent..."
Maxime beamed, clearly very pleased by Jacob's enthusiasm. "You can zee why your piece about applying non-Magique chemistry to Potions interested me zo much. I would frankly love to 'ear 'ow you'd explain your theories to my students...if you would be willing to let me 'sit in' on your lecture."
"Of course!" Jacob said at once, without any hesitation. His grin was so big he could hardly contain it. "Mais oui! I'd be honored!"
Maxime and Jacob would go on to talk for another whole hour, long after the tea was gone. It was only then that Maxime brought Jacob downstairs toward the Potions classroom, where a set of seventh years had just filed in, and introduced Jacob to the class before settling in the very back of the room as he started his lecture. Although Jacob went on quite a few long tangents in his lecture, his enthusiasm captivated the French students, so much so that they couldn't even look down too much on the weird Briton with the crazy hair and sloppy clothes. He was so animated and intelligent when he talked that soon all of the students were raising their hands and engaging with him, asking follow-up questions and even challenging his conclusions, which Jacob reacted to with almost more enthusiasm than he did to the questions. By the time Jacob's lecture was through, Maxime's eyes positively radiated with how charmed she was by this tiny, quirky little wizard with the messy curls.
"You will have to visit again, when next you publish anozher zuch work," she said insistently.
"Oh, totally!" said Jacob eagerly. "I'd love to come again sometime. Even just to explore some more -- your school really is smashing! I'd love to see your library next time..."
"Mais oui -- but of course."
Jacob's enthusiasm clearly pleased Maxime greatly. It made her give a slightly-too-hard pat to Jacob's cheek that ended up more feeling like a slap.
"Au revoir, Monsieur Cromwell," said Maxime with a warm smile. "I do 'ope zat you shall visit France again soon."
Jacob blinked. Then he smiled a bit more awkwardly.
"Well, uh...my travels kind of keep me on the move. I don't really know when I'll be anywhere a lot of the time -- I just sort of figure it out as I go along. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to come back sometime, obviously! And until I do, I could always send you letters, if you'd like. I love sending letters," Jacob added with a grin.
Maxime cocked her eyebrows. "You do not zeem to like receiving zhem quite so much, if you do not have a proper return address."
Jacob laughed uncomfortably. "Oh no, it's...not me not liking receiving letters, I just...keep forgetting to file for a proper collection box, with the Owl Office. Pip's always getting on me for that -- she ends up getting most of the letters for me, and she thinks it'd be a lot easier if people just sent them straight to me, rather than her having to figure out where to send stuff to me based on what I tell her of where I'm next going..."
"Your 'Pip' iz right about zat," said Maxime with a cool smile. "I would zuppose she is just too nice to tell you to stop making 'er pick up after you."
Jacob laughed a bit more fully, though still rather uncomfortably.
"Yeah...yeah, I guess you're right..." He smiled a bit more fully. "All right -- when I get a proper collection box, I'll let you know straight away."
"Good," said Maxime. "I would not like to 'ave to zend three of ze same letter again. I am not ze zort of woman who likes to appear desperate."
Jacob laughed again despite himself. "Desperate? I wouldn't have said that. I thought that it just made you determined, honestly. It sounds like just the sort of thing my Pip would do, to make sure she reached me."
"I have met your zister before, Jacob Cromwell, however briefly," said Maxime, her wry smile widening a bit. "Zo I know, both because of 'er and because of your clear esteem for 'er, zat your comparison is a great compliment."
Jacob grinned. "Better believe it is."
Sure enough, with Madame Maxime's prodding, Jacob opened up a collection box with the Owl Office and enchanted it so that his mail could seamlessly appear in a collection tray on the desk inside his portable room in a suitcase. With this, he was able to receive and send letters a lot more quickly and efficiently -- and it was because of this that Jacob received the news of Cedric Diggory's death so quickly from both Carewyn and Maxime and he was so quick to return home to the United Kingdom in the spring of 1995. Jacob would lose touch with Madame Maxime when she went with Hagrid to negotiate with the giants, but they would reestablish contact after her during the War and especially after, when they no longer had to send messages in code.
The two would remain friends for many years to come, sending letters and gifts to each other while Jacob was traveling. One of Jacob's favorite gifts from Olympe Maxime ended up being a custom cologne she brewed for him, made of cocoa beans, leather, Egyptian musk, and Lady's Mantle. It was a scent Jacob wore chiefly on dates, when he really wanted to look and feel his best, and whenever anyone asked him about it, he was always incredibly proud to boast about his talented friend, the stately Directice of Beauxbatons herself.

It gets talked about a lot but I still can't stop nerding out about Link's characterization in TotK. It's done through his many creative dialogue choices and his expressions of course, but it's also done so subtly through what he *doesn't* say. Notably, he doesn't talk about himself. And this is why nobody recognizes him unless they've already met him. Because he doesn't tell them when they've got the wrong impression of him.
The meme about Link having Tony Hawk syndrome is so real. People will look at him and straight up say, "Wow, you look exactly like Link!" without a hint of irony. Lookout Landing has a detailed picture of his face in their watchtower and the search party still doesn't recognize him. Penn works with Link for a long time and thinks he's unlucky that the Yiga keep "mistaking" him for the Hero (granted, Traysi asked him to deliberately keep quiet, but Penn still didn't put two and two together himself). I think the reason for this, aside from it being really, really funny, is that Link just doesn't talk about himself. He doesn't feel the need to.
Characterization isn't just about what we see a character doing, it's also about how other characters respond to them. Link is so unassuming and humble that he doesn't match people's expectations of what "Link" should be like. The three Gerudo ladies hanging out around Outskirt Stable are one of many perfect examples. Link stands in front of them carrying the Master Sword, but they expect the Hero to be taller than they are, with a giant glowing sword, so they don’t believe it's him. Obviously that's not the reality, but they don't know that. Link doesn't correct them, either. Again, he doesn't feel the need to.
This is also why many NPCs from BotW don't recognize or remember Link. To them, he was just a passerby that did them a good turn once 6+ years ago. Nobody's going to remember a person like that for so long after. They had no way of knowing he was the Hero, unless it came up for story quest reasons. When they hear stories about the Princess's Appointed Knight who woke up from his 100 year nap, defeated the Calamity, and rescued Zelda, they imagine someone larger than life. Then when they see what Link actually is like, they can't put two and two together.
This is true even during the Hyrule Restoration efforts. Link always follows behind Zelda as her shadow, which she notes in her diary, but the people in the stable investigation quests and in Hateno don't recognize him either, even though he went everywhere she did. Link is just that unassuming. He resigns himself to being a shadow, allowing Zelda to take the lead and do as she pleases but always staying nearby to support and protect her. He doesn't need to be recognizable to do his job. And we know from both BotW and now TotK that he's wholly devoted to her. He's content with this. Many people more eloquent than I have spent many paragraphs elaborating on this. I just wanted to focus on what it says about his character.
Link is humble and unassuming, so much so that nobody believes that he's the Hero unless they already know him. He's devoted to Zelda, so much so that he's willing to do anything to chase even a glimpse of her. He doesn't talk about himself or correct people who have the wrong impression of him. He doesn't need to do that to chase his Zelda. He is a person of great humility in spite of his station. I think that's so interesting and neat how the comedy of him being unrecognizable also tells us all this about him. It's also cool how this is only one aspect of him; all the dialogue choices and expressions he makes during cutscenes and actions out in the world show a whole other, lighter side to him that meshes with this. It's all so good. I am in love with it. It always kills me inside when people dismiss his characterization as being nonexistant or flat just because it's not spoonfed to them or when they say Link being unrecognizable is lazy writing instead of a deliberate choice. I am biting and gnawing and gnashing over him and his relationship to Zelda. I love them so much.

Tell us about more size kink and Eddie pls 👀😁
ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE AKSKDKDKD
okay so i really think his size kink is just with the size of his dick. i know some size kinks can be focused on height and all that in your partner, but p**n star!eddie’s is solely on his cock. i’m literally not even joking when i say that this man is fucking huge. even when you’re at your wettest, it’s gonna hurt at least a little every time he fucks you. the good thing, though, is that he knows how to use it well—he can figure out what depth you’re most comfortable with, what speed brings the least amount of discomfort, what positions work best for you, etc. if you don’t mind pain (a little or a lot), then good news! you don’t have to worry about any of that stuff, and shit is gonna get fucking wild during sex.
but back to the topic at hand. oh man, does he fucking love comparing his dick to the size of your pussy. he’s an adult film star, so obviously he’s seen a tremendous amount of it. he’s fucked them all—tightest, wettest, deep, shallow, you name it. and there’s a reason why his films with the tightest pussies sell the best, because he’s out here bringing the size kink into it. he has a stomach bulge kink to go along with it as well, meaning he loves it when he can see the tip of his dick inside of the woman’s lower stomach. the size kink, the stomach bulge, and the throat bulge from deep throating are some of his best moneymakers, with some of the others being the gay p**n he does, threesome stuff, bdsm (his heaviest bdsm films do better than his lighter ones), and there was even a film he did of him masturbating to a fantasy he had of a really hot woman that sold insanely well. i’m sure you can take a great guess as to why, with everything you know about ps!eddie.
and even in all of those, size kink was often brought up at least once. he would ask if it hurt having such a huge cock inside of them, if their throat hurt from how deep his massive dick was shoved into it, he would slap it against their lower belly and say he couldn’t wait to get into their guts with that thing, that he was excited to see his tip in their belly, the works. i’m sure he’s also going to mention the fact that he gets so swelled up over the fact that such a tiny pussy can hold such a big cock, too. but hell, even that doesn’t compare to the filthy shit he says to you when you guys start having sex.
let me just list a few examples of the shit he would say to you:
“i can see my dick inside of your throat, baby. fuck, i want you to swallow around me. i want to feel just how goddamn full you are.”
“your gorgeous little cunt is taking all of me so well. fucking christ, can you hear how wet she is right now? how goddamn filthy it sounds as i push inside of her, getting her nice and full?”
“your pussy’s hugging me tight as fuck, baby. i don’t think she’s used to having such a big dick, is she?”
“your hand looks so small wrapped around my cock. think you can fit it all in that pretty mouth of yours?”
“look at that bulge in your belly, princess. i’m so fucking deep inside of you right now that i can see it.”
he’s also going to hold his cock up to your pussy to compare the sizes. he’ll slap it against your cunt, reveling in how much you squirm & moan because of how heavy it feels. he’s going to enjoy anal with you, too (if that’s your thing; if not, he won’t pressure or force you to do it! he’s a respectful king, always & forever). but he’s very careful when it comes to that, and doesn’t go too deep because jesus, he doesn’t want to kill you or hurt you badly.
he will also get off so hard on super hardcore blowjobs, because of that damn size kink. he’s so thick that it’s hard for your mouth to accommodate him, so you’re drooling all over the damn place and making a mess that way. he’s fucking into your throat and feeling how tight it is, and will make comments on it the whole time, probably. he will love cumming in your mouth and down your throat, watching you choke on that & on his dick. he loves seeing the spit & his cum dribbling down your chin, some of it forming a thick bridge of saliva from your mouth to the tip of his erection when you pull off. fuck, does he love that sight: you on your knees, covered in so much spit and his cum, your lips shining with all of it, eyes gleaming with lust, desperation written all over your face. all because of his cock roughly fucking your pretty little throat.
and don’t get me started on titty fucking with that thing, either. the smaller your tits in that situation, the more he’s gonna be turned on by it. and if your boobs are too small to fuck, well, you’ve got nipples, right? he’s gonna rub that big dick of his all over them, loving how they harden underneath it. he’s gonna love it so much regardless, because even ps!eddie is one million percent a boob dude—of all shapes and sizes.

since it's my birthday I'm sharing what I have (ROUGHLY) written down so far for my ot3 video analysis' section on the long way down job (if you haven't been able to figure it out yet, that's one of my favorite episodes)
Here we are seeing the aftereffects of the San Lorenzo Job in real time in the relationships between the characters. It seems as though Hardison is feeling off-balance in his relationship dynamic with Parker, who we we remember confessed her feelings and willingness to pursue a relationship with Hardison at the end of the Big Bang Job (note, there weren’t many relationship developments that happened between them in the San Lorenzo Job for obvious reasons- i.e. they were actively trying not to die). Hardison, who has been living that slow-burn life for the past three years is obviously ecstatic that this is happening, but it seems as though there is a disconnect between his expectations and reality of the relationship. NOTE: One of the wonderful things about Hardison is that he doesn’t expect anything from Parker- he wants her as she is in whatever way he can have her. When I’m talking about expectations, I’m saying that he doesn’t know how to act with this new relationship development- he doesn’t know where the ‘lines’ are of Parker’s comfortability and what she is ready for, which is leaving him a bit confused and unsure of how to act.
For example, he goes in to hug her but she either doesn’t notice, doesn’t compute what he’s trying to do, or isn’t up for that level of physical affection at the current moment. She high-fives him instead
[significance of eliot 'don't touch me bro' spencer not only giving hardison a hug but INITIATING IT because parker didn't take his open arms as an invitation. talk about how much lighter he looks after the events of the san lorenzo job- it's almost like a literal weight has been lifted off his chest]
It’s easy to see the Parker-Hardison dynamics in this episode, but don’t miss how there is also significant development in the relationship between Parker and Eliot. Parker and Eliot are paired off for most of this episode climbing the mountain to try to recover the incriminating notebook from the dead mountaineer. They work efficiently in tandem, literally keeping even pace with one another.
[talk about heart-wrenching cave scenes here]
And when they’re free, this closeness and ability to be on the same wavelength is displayed when they are confronted by the gunman looking to destroy the evidence. He grabs Parker and points a gun to her head, demanding that Eliot hand over the notebook. She yells at him to not hand it over, but in actuality, she is distracting the gunman from noticing her sliding the dead man’s cellphone with an incriminating video into his pocket. Eliot plays along and into the bit, throwing the notebook over to get Parker back.
[talk about hardison being so happy to hear parker (and eliot) over the comms. talk about how he isn't expecting a hug and is resigned (if not content) to do a high five and is floored when parker practically jumps into his arms. where she knows it's safe and warm.]

What is everyone's power in your AU
Charlie can grow claws and cause people to hallucinate, she can see through most disguises and can read people's fears, she can corrupt creatures, but she has learned to control that ability and doesn't corrupt anyone at will. She can also fade into her shadow form, if she feels like spying on people.
Maxwell can "multiply" himself, he can also enter his shadow form but it's much more draining for him. He still has most of his magician tricks and uses shadow magic on regular basis, just without the codex umbra. Both he and Charlie can create tiny shadow monsters to spy on people and gather information about them long distance, if they prefer to personally stay put.
Wilson is of shadow origin here, though he is very much unaware of it. The only ones who are aware are Charlie and Max, while the rest of them are clueless. He can turn into a shadow beast, melt away into puddles of dark fuel, turn most things he touches into dark tethers and is ridiculously strong in this form. He can't control it however and assumes he's been cursed/corrupted.
Wolfgang has his super strength with a similar downside as in the game. He often shrinks when he's not doing anything super labor inducing, so many underestimate him as a bouncer and fighter. (Only to be proven very very wrong)
Willow obviously has her pyrokinesis, she has her lighter at all times, which she uses as a pocket fire storage. She almost burned the place a couple of times and got harshly reprimanded. Her corrupted form is a creature made of flames.
Wendy (And Abigail) can communicate with spirits and shadows. Both of them have the ability to "switch" between the body, though Wendy is the original host as Abigail did in fact die before. They can also see auras and people's true intentions.
Both Webber and Wurt have enhanced animalistic abilities. Webber can climb walls and make webs (from his hands🙌), has venom and better vision, While Wurt can jump really high, swim fast, breathe under water, and have a decent night vision. The downside is neither has currently access to their minions, though it is possible for them to acquire them at some point.
Woodie has a device that helps him switch between his forms and control them better, so he can transform at any time he uses it. Thanks to this he can also keep his mind together while being transformed. He can also partially transform to use one of his animal abilities to his aid. (For example transform his arm into a hoof to gain strength, or transform his arms into wings when he's in a situation that requires to use them) And yes it's the collar, no, the others won't change it for humorous reasons.
Wickerbottom has her super intelligence, mixed with bits of telepathy and telekinesis, she's pretty strong when give the chance but prefers to stay out from battles. She can write a spell on anything, and while she embraces her witchcraftian ancestry, she tends to stray from that path and instead use gadgets more often, since unlike the constant she doesn't have the free range to use the more destructive spells, in order to not cause much damage. (The others don't care though and cause damage anyway)
Wigfrid can control people with her songs, easily empowering her allies and weakening her enemies with them. She can also partially steal away someone's strength or life force.
Wes has mime powers, he can imagine any tool into existence for a certain amount of time, but if he gets distracted, it vanished/turns into something else. He also has helium breath because canon.
Based on @starving-mimi 's idea, Walter can make his tales come true, though he's very unaware of this ability and just assumes he was right about whatever monster's existence he imagined. (And Woby still has access to her monstrous form, though Walter finds out about this later)
WX-78 (or Woodrow) is still very much a human gone steampunk, however here they're aided with conductors and electric weapons for combat. They don't have most of their circuits, because their upgrades are installed by Winona, who basically prepares them for a specific situation, those upgrades are often uninstalled post battle, since too many of them can cause them great malfunctions and seizures. Just like the monster kids, they have a bracelet on their arm which makes up their disguise. They absolutely hate it.
Warly can affect the quality of his dishes with his emotions. While the taste always stays excellent, it's the aftereffects that vary. If he's feeling upbeat and enthusiastic, he can 'boost' anyone who consumes his dishes, including himself. Their agility, strength and power can greatly improve for a certain amount of time. However when he's upset, he prefers to not cook for the others, as he worries it will make them weaker, lethargic and unprepared for future battles. He also make his magical dishes from the game, which can change ones temperature, make them alight, immune to wetness, instantly improve their mental state etc.
Winona , due to a small exposure to corruption has the ability to immediately know how to construct something, just by giving it one look, she also understands how to mix components in order to produce an efficient tool, this gives her the advantage to a greater success rate in engineering than most people. She embraces this ability and is thankful she didn't get the short end of the stick, like some of the others. She likes to engage in battles but is aware of how her ability pails in comparison to some of the others. She's only slightly jealous. This doesn't stop her from inventing bizarre aids for her coworkers.
Wormwood also has a disguise on, though provided by a different entity. He willingly hires himself at the Dinner Theater which is a rarity in that place. At first he only shows bits of his abilities, like speeding the growth proces of potted plants or producing flowers at will. Later on though his actual abilities start shining through, how he can control any type of plant, the quality of life of all plants surrounding him, create sentient beings from flora and is actually incredibly skilled in combat though prefers to hide this fact. Here he also has a stronger connection to his lunar side and psychic roots, he can hypnotize beings and induce a sleeping spell on them. He can communicate telepathically with people and plants alike and is well equipped in his lunar knowledge. (And any time you eat a watermelon seed, just remember, he could absolutely kill you from the inside, but chooses not to)
Wortox is still the imp who jumped through the ancient gateway, and has by this point already taken the soul of Krampus. He has his ability to hop through any universe at any time he wishes, so long as he has enough souls for each trip. This time he manages to find himself in a human realm. He dons a human disguise using his soul energy, though the more energy he uses on said disguise, the more drained he feels. He can still teleport, and kill most being just with sheer touch. He often wears gloves though that does little to help with his curse. He gets in contact with Charlie and is lightly coerced into helping her acquire stuff for her mission, thus the title "The Supplier". In turn, she, along her co-owner and employees engineers a device for him, which proves him able to touch people and lessens the chance of him accidentally stealing someone's soul. He's very greatful for it.
Wanda has the prominition ability and can see into the future, though with limitations. She still posseses her ailment of aging too quickly and has most of her clocks on, including the ones that can reverse people's age and turn back time, though with direct supervision from Charlie and Max, she's not allowed to be as free with their usage, due to their sheer potency and power. She usually stays behind to her own preference and fear of death, though when she actually is forced to engage in combat, rest assured, she will woop ass.

In your opinion, which obey me character is more likely to gove harah punishments snd light punishments
I thought of harsh and light as physical/non-physical punishment, so in my opinion we have:
Harsh: Lucifer Barbatos Satan Simeon
Beel Diavolo Solomon
Light: Mammon Asmo Belphie Levi
The harshest will surely be Lucifer and Barbatos. They are the strictest and do not accept any wrong behavior. You'd be over their knees for just being sassy towards them! Moreover, they're also the type of person who would extend the punishment for a long time. Sassy? You can keep that pacifier tied in your mouth all day, you're not ready to talk. Try to punch them (Ah! You dumb!) ? Hopefully you'll like your new mittens because they won't be taking them off any time soon. Only then they know you've learned your lesson and will act like a good baby.
Satan would be harsh too, though not so often. After all, he's the one pushing you to be a brat most of the time, just to annoy Lucifer. But you want to piss him off instead? Then, after the punishment, you'll be the one pissed. Literally.
Simeon can be very patient, but he has limits too! He try a lighter approach first, explaining you why what you did was wrong. It's his duty as a Daddy and as an angel! But if you still don't listen to him, he'll have no problem resorting to physical punishment, whether it's spanking or caning your hands. There will be something on the fic 👀.
I put Diavolo and Beel separate from the others for one simple reason. They are afraid to use their strength on you. And indeed they are also right. These two are HUGE and if they don't control themselves they could REALLY, REALLY hurt you. A single slap on your butt is enough to make it red. The positive note? It only takes that to make you behave yourself again.
And Solomon doesn't like to harm you, but he is a wizard and he can come up with various uncomfortable punishments. From locking you in an invisible box and watching you grow frustrated, to casting a spell on food so that what you're eating tastes disgusting (Maybe that would make his cooking better), to taking away your voice or weakening your muscles. It's not as bad as getting spanked by an enchanted brush, but not so mild as to make you walk away with a scolding.
For the lighter approach, we obviously have Mammon. If you scare him, for example by going out at night, he might be upset enough to smack you on the butt. But as long as you shed a few tears, he will immediately apologize, hugging you and trying to calm you down. But then, you'll have to hear him ramble about how he was freacking out, how something bad could have happened to you if he wasn't there to take you home… Please, don't make this guy too upset.
Asmo will only go with light punishments, nothing physical. He is NOT leaving any bruises on your body, he would be too horrified if he did. He will use paci, booties, and mittens to punish you, perhaps even tying you to a chair. This one can also be quite bad if you have some comfort object and you can't reach for it. Asmo KNOWS how much you want your blanket or stuffie, but not now! Maybe if you listened to it in the first place, you wouldn't be punished right now, mh? Oh well, don't worry, Asmo will let you out as soon as he's done getting ready to go shopping. And he wants to hear an apology as soon as he removes your paci, m'kay?
Belphegor is always tired and now he has to punish you? No, thanks. He can manage to give you a couple of smacks if you've done something serious, but more often he will put you to sleep. It's not like you're going to get yourself into any more trouble if you're asleep, right?
Levi is probably so insecure about how to punish you, he say something like "uh, well, try not to do that again next time". The End. He doesn't know at all what he should do: He could spank you but he's afraid it's a fitting punishment, he could hurt you too much and obviously he doesn't want to make you cry. He may ask you to go to the corner, but if you tell him you don't want to…Hell, what can he do? That's why he prefers the others to handle you in these cases

Thanks so much!
Another request said: Hello, could we please have period comfort with the twins and Levi as well?
A/N: Hii I’m soso glad you liked the other posts thank youu 🙏🏼 and thank you for the requests!!! :D

Taking care of you on your period part 3
Word count: 1.5k
Warnings: blood mention, fainting, mention of dying
Part 1
Part 2
Levi:
-He very rarely attends class in person and not online, and on one of those rare times you weren’t feeling well so he’s just very confused before you tell him because you keep standing and leaning on the desk which doesn’t look comfortable at all to him
-And it hardly helps you with the pain but it’s all you can really do while you’re in class besides pacing around which you decide to do as well near your desks at the back of the class
-The teacher decides to embarrass you in front of everyone and asks you why you’re not sitting like everyone else instead of coming up to you which makes you feel even worse, and you don’t even have it in you to throw any retorts at them
-Eventually the pain gets really really bad and even after waiting for some time after taking a painkiller it didn’t kick in, so you tell him you’re just going to head back home and so obviously he comes with you because he’s very concerned and even after you tell him the bleeding is normal, he’s heavily questioning if the amount of pain you’re having is really a normal thing for humans
-His room is unsurprisingly a really good distraction considering he has most of the stuff you’d need to be able to stay in there for hours on end (except for proper food, he only has snacks) so once the pain becomes lighter it’s a good place to unwind and get your focus off of the smaller pains
-It also provides light (from the aquarium part) without being overwhelming enough to give you a headache or migraine and it’s the perfect amount of light to still be able to fall asleep with
-He has tons of blankets and I headcanon he has a couple weighted blankets as well and he’d bring them over for you (you could fold a couple to put behind your back and on your thighs to help ease the pain a bit)
-If you’re on the taller side, his bathtub probably won’t be the comfiest considering you’re already in pain and you’d have to put yourself in an uncomfortable position that would put you in more pain and also share the tiny space with Levi on top of all that, so if you’re not willing to deal with the hassle it’s best you just both go to your room and have him carry all the blankets there for you
-He starts off embarrassed about buying you period products, but he gets over it pretty quickly after thinking about how much pain you’re in and how much effort he’s saving you, along with the fact that anyone who mocks him for it probably isn’t able to get into a relationship of their own
-Overall, he’s really good with everything but there’s a chance he’ll get the wrong product even though he checks your messages a bunch of times to make sure 😭😭 for example, he might get the right size pad but without wings, but he does learn quickly luckily for you
Beel:
-He’s naturally very warm which most of the time is really cozy and nice but during the times when it’s warmer out or when your body is really hot on its own due to the pain it can get a bit overwhelming
-At the same time though you don’t want to distance yourself physically because then everything just feels even more off, so cuddling with the AC on and a fan blasting while you have a couple light blankets covering you are the best, especially feeling yourself drift off when the sleeping conditions are so perfect and he’s rubbing your back
-Has a tendency to be a bit suffocating with his arms when you two are cuddling so you have to squirm around a bit to figure out a comfy position
-Constantly picks you up with no problem (which all of the brothers can do technically he’s just the one who does it the most often) so that you don’t have to move if you want to go to your room or somewhere else. He has no shame in it too he’ll just carry on like it’s the most normal thing in the world and he’ll act like anyone who judges is the weird one instead of the other way around lmao
-Definitely the type to tell you to focus on resting instead of stressing over your schoolwork, since even if you stress it’s not like you’re able to do it anyway when you’re not feeling well (even if it does sound kind of harsh) so he offers to help you write an email to your teachers to ask for an extension on the deadlines because you aren’t feeling well
-Some teachers are more understanding than others, and the latter ones just get mad at you for not having started sooner, and so you’re still worried you’ll get marks deducted if you hand anything in late
-So in the end he does your work for you 🥺 he doesn’t want you to start slacking in your classes because of him but he doesn’t want you to be in so much pain and also be stressing out about something that seems so insignificant to him at the same time, so he decides to just do it for you even if it takes him a while to understand the material from classes he’s not in
-He gets you basically everything while you rest and doesn’t make any comments about you not being productive or anything that might make you feel bad for relaxing
-He’s still constantly hungry (as usual) but he does his best to push it aside so he can take care of you, especially if you’re cuddling and you fall asleep on him, he doesn’t wanna risk waking you up
-Though he will probably text one of his brothers asking them to grab him something from the kitchen (how likely are they to actually do it though 😭)
-Sometimes when you’re taking a bath to relieve the pain you want pressure on your lower stomach at the same time but it's a lot of effort to keep your hands on your stomach at the same time as you’re trying to fully relax your body, so he does it for you while taking a bath together. If you’re at the stage where you can literally bathe together why would he be shy about touching your stomach if it’s not a problem for you?
Belphie:
-He definitely knows about periods from Lilith, I imagine she’d learn about it after visiting the human world and them both being horrified at the thought, because why is it necessary to make them bleed so often? Why not once a year instead?
-Despite this though I don’t think he’d know too many of the details, and since he’s never had actual firsthand experience helping someone with it, it would take him a while to adjust to the fact that there are so many other problems that come along with getting your period, not just blood 😔
-I’m not sure if this is canon but if it’s not, I have a headcanon that he can put others to sleep so that would definitely come in handy pretty often. You’d be in too much pain to fall asleep on your own and you can’t stay still enough to keep trying so you’re just ranting about it to him and he offers, so obviously you accept and then you wake up a few hours later feeling much better
-One problem that you encounter quite often is him falling asleep on you, which is fine on its own, but after some time it stops being comfortable for you. But he’s pretty hard to move when he’s asleep so you have to fight for your life to free yourself
-And then all your hard work trying to move without disturbing him (which hardly ever happens anyway) is thrown away because he wakes up as soon as you get out of his grip smh
-A good thing about Belphie specifically when you’re in pain is that he’s down to lie down and sleep literally anywhere so if you think that lying down on the floor in the middle of his room with a heating pad on your stomach will help your back pain and cramps he’s down, doesn’t even take any convincing from you he’ll just do it
-Even though he still feels a bit awkward helping you and isn’t always sure what you need him to do, he starts to put in a lot more effort in accompanying you everywhere after a while
-More specifically, after you told him about how you were once home alone and the pain was so bad you thought you were genuinely about to die, and no one was answering your messages either. And about the time you forced yourself to go out even though you weren’t feeling well and nearly passed out
-Both stories really concern him so he starts going with you literally everywhere when you’re on your period because he’s slightly paranoid that you’ll end up being left alone somewhere and you actually will die from it, and he’ll have no idea until after it’s too late

Welcome Back!!!
Been meaning to ask you, do you think Neji has to go through clothes a lot considering he's wearing mostly white? Like thats a LOT of blood, dirt, grass stains, sweat, etc he'd have to constantly remove. Does Konohana have some of the worlds best laundry soaps or what???
This gave me a laugh hah, thank you so much for this ask! 🤭 Because I have spent a somewhat unreasonable amount of time thinking about the practicalities of the Naruto universe, I do have thoughts on this!
As I've said before, I love the white because of how much it says "You won't lay a single finger on me." Obviously we've seen Neji dirty and roughed up plenty of times, but it's the powerplay of it all that matters most. However, once all that blood, dirt, grass stains, sweat etc., do accumulate, what's a shinobi to do?
Before we get to that I want to say I believe most if not all clothes in the ninja world are made of sturdy cottons and canvases and other materials designed to take a lot of abuse. If you read up on, say, the gi worn during karate or judo, you learn they are made of similar materials with reinforced stitching for increased durability and better absorbing of sweat. Some will be lighter than others in order to facilitate better mobility. (I will mention that Bruce Lee's famous jumpsuit which inspired Gai and Lee's look was apparently made of polyester, which isn't ideal for dealing with sweat; in the anime it often looks more like spandex from how tight it is which is at least better for that.) I think Kishimoto generally draws clothing with a nice thickness and weight that helps reinforce this idea.
I also think they probably own a few different uniforms which is actually a semi-decent in-universe explanation for Cartoon Characters Who Only Ever Wear One Thing. (Especially since Naruto characters are seen in more casual clothes in their off hours.) I imagine Ninja Tailors are used to essentially doing bulk orders. And because ill-fitting clothing can be a distraction, keeping your measurements up to date would be important. So basically, as warriors, they would feel an obligation to treat their uniforms like a piece of equipment just like their kunai, and as they may regularly maintain their weapons and get new ones they would maintain their combat wardrobe.
To the actual washing question ... in some ways, white is better to wear for stains because you can use bleach fearlessly! An 'ideal laundry scenario' for example: Neji either does not use a deodorant or anti-antiperspirant, or uses a natural one which does not contain chemicals like aluminum. (The reaction of sweat with these chemicals is the primary cause for pit stains. Stains caused by this do not respond well to bleaching, sidenote.) If things were to stain, the stain is not given time to set and is instead immediately treated with cold water. (Hot water is good only for certain stains -- generally it's better to go with cold.) If needed properly diluted bleach is added to the wash and I guess everything in the colourful world of Naruto is pretty colourfast so they don't need to worry so much about bleach stains.
Of course, how much this ideal laundry routine is followed through on ... on the battlefield they don't have time for it and at home is every shinobi some kind of laundry wizard? Ehh. I think either them or people in their lives are probably more used to dealing with nasty stains because it's part of their culture, so it's not unlikely, but I can also see a lot slipping through the cracks. Clothes would slowly gain permanent stains and tears that need to be patched and would eventually be replaced, and though I think this is likely what's going on in-universe, it's not something we would ever see happening even if Kishimoto thought of it because if clothing is marked up outside of a combat scene you're going to be going "Damn, who hit him?" Not to say wear and tear is something that's impossible for an artist to convey, but damaged clothing tends to either indicate living in some kind of impoverished/difficult situation or active combat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Nagato before and after being sheltered and cared for by Jiraiya.)
I do like to imagine shinobi and their families swapping laundry and sewing tips, recommending tailors, enthusing about oxygen bleach versus traditional chlorine bleach and so on. Gotta keep yourself looking good when you're headed off to active combat!
TL;DR: I think less amazing laundry soaps (though I wouldn't say no to that) but more a good understanding of which fabrics work best as activewear in combat, and how to then treat these fabrics when they have been damaged is the winning combination!

One thing that is very different in Donal’s and Barney’s Mats is that Barney’s Mat is sort of… he is sort of tired. I mean he is depressed, while Donal’s is in recovery, obviously, but there was sort of defeat in the way Mat was from the very first episode of the first season, that is just not there in season 2.
For show!Mat it is very, very normal to react positively to the blowing of the horn, although I think Barney’s Mat would have not been so open about it. It’s a very interesting change, and I missed Barney a lot this season, A LOT. I wanted the bad boy vibes back, I wanted him to be a bit of an asshole, because Donal’s Mat is not like that at all and I constantly felt sorry for him and it clashed with the Mat in my head basically. The best way I can explain it is that with Barney’s Mat I sort of had the feeling, that if he decided that he likes me, I could really rely on him. Like he WILL come through and he will bitch and moan, but he’ll be with me. With Donal’s Mat he will try to help even if he dislikes me and maybe even won’t bitch about it, but he might do a shitty job? Which are two very different approaches.
But after the scenes where Rand and Mat meet again, where Mat waits for Rand to leave the city, where he takes drugs and where he feels relief that he is one of the heroes, and then immediately hurts Rand on accident? Like these scenes have sold me on Donal’s Mat. He is my sweet cheese, my rotten soldier. Nynaeve patting Mat’s cheek and not even looking at her supposedly dead friend who is now dying for real? Like I get it, I was “no you are so good you need to know”. It’s a completely different vibe though. I love this Mat and I don’t want any other Mats now.
This change suits show!Mat a lot and I wonder if they planned this change for Barney too, and if they did how would he approach that? He was never that sweet and I doubt that he would have gone for it?
if you are the same anon who worried about tumblr going insane and sending me either 1000 asks or no asks about mat, rest assured i got just the one here! all is well!
to me the differences in the two versions of mat were largely due to them being in different circumstances. even pre-dagger in the first 2 episodes of season 1, mat is a) having a bad time at home and then b) getting dragged on a roadtrip from hell. season 2 when mat gets out of tar valon, that's really the first time we've seen him almost completely carefree, so naturally he's much lighter (and i did see some of barney's darker & defeated mat in donal's Captive Mat in the first 2.5 episodes of s2, just like how i see some of donal's lighter mat in barney's Jokester Trying To Cheer Up His Friends Mat in the first 2 episodes of s1).
but at the same time i do feel some kind of difference in Vibe between barney's mat and donal's mat, in a way i can't really put my finger on but is just down to the fact that of course two different people playing the same character will each put their own little spin on that character! for example, i definitely get what you're describing of s2 mat feeling more like a lovable doofus and s1 mat more like an asshole with a heart of gold haha
it's also interesting to consider that barney's mat was written entirely with the original plan for mat in mind, and donal's was written entirely with the revamped plan for mat in mind, so that could also explain some differences! it is quite possible they wanted to make mat more of a lovable doofus in s2 because they knew him staying behind at the waygate was an unplanned change that made him look bad in the eyes of many viewers (not me though!), so they wanted to try extra hard to make him sweet and likable and pitiable in s2 to compensate. and there was for sure a shift in motives for mat between s1 and s2: in s1 he's a reluctant participant in The Plot because he's getting dragged along and just wants to go home to his sisters (more of the "doesn't WANT to be a hero" vibe) whereas in s2 he's a more eager participant in The Plot because hates himself for abandoning his friends and desperately wants to make up for it (more of the "doesn't think he CAN be a hero" vibe).
yeah, now that i'm writing it out i've convinced myself that it WAS the unplanned changes to mat's arc due to the actor switch that's really the key difference between barney's mat and donal's mat! and specifically the changes to his motivations and his willingness to participate in the plot. because s1 mat WAS a grouchier and more reluctant hero even without the dagger's influence, but s2 mat is so desperate to be good and to do good specifically because of the Great Waygate Abandonment. so i certainly don't think this change was planned or would've happened if barney had continued in the role, because his departure was precisely the thing that necessitated the change!
anyway, cosigned on mat being my sweet cheese and my rotten soldier and on him needing to know that he's good!!!!

Sapheans! Yippee! Ok so. Basically I kinda rip-offed Homestuck trolls lol sue me.
So-
These motherffuckers live on a really huge and damn dangerous planet with two suns and mostly hostile creatures. There's a lot of wild and different types of climates. The water is acidic, the clouds are extremely dense, and plants are also very dangerous. Yet though, these ffuckers seem to be the only sentient bitches on the whole damn orb.
There's a lot of racism ffucking obviously but it's coming from all sides. But there's also a lot of love. Their societies range from spiraling nauseatingly tall clusters of buildings to two dudes on an island and everywhere in between.
General design notes, mostly coloration wise y'know-
Their blood can be ANY color, but shades are specific to different type. And blood color determines hair(or feather) color, eye color, fins, marking color, and antenna and whatnot. I just used red and blue and green for examples it is not limited.
Pointy parts for. Well. Protection.
The parts colored as black act as kinda like an exoskeleton, though in general their skin is pretty tough, especially the face, and especially the face fangs.
Can generally have any shape horns, they come in all shapes and sizes.
Pretty much every single one has different markings.
Clothes. Are... A thing. Yes. They wear clothes actually lol.
More joints in their legs than humans have.
Yes they can dye their hair and paint their markings different colors.
There are ghosts! This species exists in a world with magics and supernatural elements and whatnot.
Ok so. Shit I have for them at the current moment.
Land-
Majority.
Their blood is generally mid-tone, skin grey, darker in warmer areas, lighter in colder.
Good hands, feet, and tail for grabbing things.
Two horns. One set of horns. However you put it. They use them bitches for navigation and farming and electricity. And of course murder.
Sea-
Second most uncommon.
No noses we don't do that in the ocean.
Bitches be in acidic ffucking water.
Their blood is generally bright and neon, skin can range anywhere from super light grey to super dark grey depending on how deep they are.
One horn, generally. Used for controlling the water. And of course murder.
Webbed hands and feet and a second set of eyelids.
Deeper you get, the freakier they can be TBH.
Underground-
Second most common.
Smaller eyes than average DUH. They ain't using them for much.
Antennas! ANTENNAS.
Two pronged horns. Or even rarer, two sets of horns. Used for searching out minerals and rare rocks and and lava and entrances and exits to caves. And of course murder.
Hands and feet good for digging through dirt or the toughest of rock.
Feelers on the face and a long slender tail good for reaching into cracks and crevices.
Blood is pale and dull like their skin.
Sky-
Uncommon.
Feathers, not hair.
Big ol wings.
Less leg joints than the others, makes them less bulky.
Big ol eyes for absorbing all the sunlight they get.
Thinner and longer fingers and toes than others, again, to be less bulky.
Horns used to control the weather. And of course murder.
Skin is dark, cuz of the sun. Blood is dark too.
Possible mutations-
Pictured is a land dweller with bat-like wings. It is a rare trait to have, but also they can actually fly.
Blood shade that doesn't match the type.
Abnormal amount of horns for type, including no horns at all.
Two different blood colors in one guy. They do not blend. This affects eyes and hair and markings.
Pupils.
Black or white blood? Nah that's just a myth. Right? Lmao.
Various other tidbits of mixings and matchings of traits, like gills on a land dweller or antenna on a sky dweller.
That's all for now folks! If anyone sees this and cares enough to make their own Saphean character I would be absolutely delighted!

If you could reboot LMK how would you do it
WAUGH I could go on at length about this but I guess my main changes would be
A) LOWER THE GOSH DERN STAKES/ LET SUN WUKONG SHOULDER MORE OF THE BURDEN IN A COMPETENT MANNER
Said before that my favorite season of Monkie Kid was the first one mainly because its lower stakes and lighter tone meant that an episode's concern could be wrapped up in a satisfying manner in a 10-minute time period. But given Everything that's happened since then, the now routine world-exploding stakes of the past few seasons seasons are really starting to grate not just because it means one horrific trauma after another for MK and his allies but because the reasons that they happen end up re-enforcing the idea that Sun Wukong--even though he does obviously run around like mad trying to do everything he can to make things better once things have gotten to a really bad point and even though he doesn't ever intend for things to get as horrible as they do--is a genuinely terrible mentor, leader, and friend and an overall bad influence in MK's life. As such, I think that doing a more low-stakes monster-of-the-week formula with a focus on MK & co. with Sun Wukong mostly in the background doing other things but with a decent presence in the foreground to sincerely help when things got tougher for the Monkie Kid could create a good balance between keeping the spotlight on Qi Xiaotian and his allies in their adventures while still letting Sun Wukong be a caring and competent shifu.
B) LESS MYSTERY-MONGERING PLEASE
There's been much fun made of those who act like a plot not revealing all of its mysteries from the first makes for a bad story, and for very good reason. HOWEVER, in Monkie Kid's case I think that it could really benefit from answering some of its big questions earlier on so that characters could deal with them and move forward in their development. For example, I'd love to see an arc that's all about why the Demon Bull King and Sun Wukong had their big battle in the first place and what the ongoing consequences of it are. This could give them a real chance to confront how it's still negatively affecting them and their relationships in the present (Sun Wukong with his refusal to even try to forge new friendships & tendency to push people away, the Demon Bull King with taking out his anger on everyone and everything, even his own son) and maybe even let them ultimately move forward knowing that they can't be sworn brothers again but they can be better and happier people. I'd also love to see an arc that's focused on Sun Wukong telling Qi Xiaotian flat-out what happened to the other pilgrims that resulted in their deaths and the failure of the westward journey, and also that if he doesn't want to be the Monkie Kid any more with that information then he doesn't have to. tbh I think it would be great if MK's hero worship was shattered BUT ALSO came with the reality that if he didn't want to fight yaoguai any more then it wouldn't mean all of reality would explode because he actually could depend on Sun Wukong to keep the situation from getting that bad. So then Qi Xiaotian does go back to his normal life for awhile, but is still irrevocably changed by the knowledge that there's all this danger out there that the Monkey King is confronting alone. I think this kind of arc could conclude with a really neat reflection of the "we are all capable of being Sun Wukong" idea with MK, the whole monkie crew, and others ultimately coming together to help save the Monkey King and each other with some issue in a refutation of the idea that you have to suffer and die to atone and also be a "it takes the world to save the world" sort of story.
C) MORE MONKEYS. MORE ALLIES. MORE FRIENDS.
Fore sure I'd make at least some members of the og classic's Mt. Huaguoshan troop along with Sun Wukong's og sworn brotherhood be characters in legoland. There's a number of really cool things you could do with them, but personally I'd make it so that their presence and role in the narrative acts as something of a response to the yaoguai battles in the og classic. I think it would be cool if for at least a few episodes an issue isn't solved by beating the yaoguai in question but by finding some creative alternative to the issue at hand that would also show the moral grayness of other characters as well as let MK & Sun Wukong himself flex some of the Monkey King's less utilized abilities and powers. For example, maybe the monkie crew responds to a call for help about ferocious storms at a sea port. And when they get there, they discover that this is the work of the Dragon Flood King, one of the Monkey King's former sworn brothers. And once this is revealed, then we have to deal with the situation where one of the big reasons the Dragon Flood King is doing this is because back before he met Sun Wukong he was kicked out of the dragon king family for being "ugly"/deformed in some way (I did see a post suggesting that this is a headcanon in China), and now that the warlord days are over he's been surviving by doing a version of what Ao Guang did for centuries in creating a weather-based protection racket where humans are forced to give him offerings or else he causes floods. And besides the interesting issues this could open up with Long Xiaojiao and her own family, then we ultimately don't solve this by beating the Dragon Flood King until he disintegrates, but by Sun Wukong and MK acting as mediators between the dragon and a few rain and storm gods so that the Dragon Flood King ultimately finds a new home in a desert oasis that the monkie crew helps him create.
Also I think it would be cool if MK got more friends in the form of some of the youngsters from the Mt. Huaguoshan monkey yaoguai troop.
Just a few sketchy thoughts! I honestly do think that there's so many cool and interesting things one could do with Monkie Kid's premise.

[PJSK OC Unit Introduction #01] Pain Killer
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE GIRLS!! ARE HERE!! YAY!! please be nicey to them...
more information about them under the cut!
(note: when it comes to their designs, their names are written in "first name, last name" order, but in their profiles their names are written in "last name, first name" order. also, about everyone's covers, at this point i feel like pjsk has so many covers, i can type literally any vocaloid song title and i will be able to find a pjsk cover of it, so if i say that a unit could cover a song that already has a canon cover, simply nod and agree with me 👍 also also, even if someone has "vocalist" as their position, obviously others sing too. also also ALSO, this takes place in the original timeline and not the brand new world one.)
(warnings for descriptions of physical and mental health problems, mentions of death, self-harm, toxic relationships and suicide, also this unit overall has a hospital/medical theme, so if you're not comfortable with that. yeah)
SEKAI Info.
Unit name: Pain Killer (i thought this would be a fun name for a unit with a medical theme! and it also has a deeper meaning, like, all of these girls' lives are painful in their own ways and they're tired of dealing with it, so they're going to KILL IT. but it also can be interpreted as them trying to get rid of this pain not in the most healthy way and getting addicted to it..)
Members (names are written in the "first name, last name" order): Yuuki Satou, Sae Chou, Kanami Nagai, Inori Watabe
Virtual singers (i've said this before, i'll be going with different vocaloids, but i'll still keep at least one "standard" virtual singer in every unit): Hatsune Miku, Oliver, Flower, Kaito, Utatane Piko, Mayu
Virtual singers' roles:
This SEKAI's Miku is a nurse and she seems to be very kind, thoughtful and soft-spoken. She cares a lot about the patients and the unit members and tries her best to give them good advice. It still feels like she's hiding something though.. When it comes to her design, her pigtails are more wavy and the tips of her hair are soft pink. She has two-colored eyes as well and they are both pink and teal.
Oliver is one of the patients. He's a very shy and kind-hearted boy who cares about the unit members and other patients' health and needs more than his own. Maybe it's because he enjoys the attention he gets as a patient with the most severe condition a little too much? His design is overall pretty similar to his original one minus the outfit and he wears a hospital gown similar to the ones Pain Killer members wear.
Flower is one of the patients as well. She clearly hates being here and she wishes she could just heal from all her pain already. Despite her cold and intimidating personality, she seems to be getting along with Oliver. Her design is very similar to her V4 standard one, she wears a hospital gown and there are some bandaids on her body and she has an eyepatch as well.
Kaito is the doctor that takes care of everyone and checks up on them. He seems to be very similar to WxS!Kaito as he gives off this older brother/father figure vibe, but he can be strict when needed, for example, when the unit members are refusing to take a break and rest. His design isn't that different from the original one minus the outfit, but he also wears glasses and has a hair gradient that goes from a darker shade of blue to the lighter one. If you remove his glasses, you can see that he actually has dark circles under his eyes.
Utatane Piko is an android who helps with detecting the patients and the unit members' health issues. He looks a lot like a human and you can notice the robot-like elements of his design only if you look closer. He seems to be only doing his job at first and not really having any feelings about it, but he actually takes it very seriously and gets attached to everyone in the process.
Mayu is a nurse as well, just like Miku, and she seems to be very overprotective when it comes to the patients. She always feels like they're still too sick and she doesn't trust them when they say that they're feeling better. It's possible for her to start feeling this way about the unit members too. Outside of that, she's a very cheerful and talkative person who is definitely the most extroverted one out of all Hospital SEKAI's virtual singers.
SEKAI creator: All unit members
SEKAI name: Hospital SEKAI
SEKAI description: This SEKAI is able to change its appearance based on the unit members' physical and mental health state. When at least one of them is suffering, the SEKAI will look like some kind of abandoned hospital that you would see in a horror game and if all members are doing okay, the hospital will look completely fine. The patients (Oliver and Flower)' physical and mental state is also directly connected to certain members. Of course, they can't actually die, but they can still feel pain.
Characters Info.
Satou Yuuki.
Name: Satou Yuuki (佐藤優希) (her last name means "assistance, help, aid" and "wisteria", her first name means "gentleness, kindness" and "rare, hope, beg for")
Age: 17 years old
Unit: Pain Killer
Position: Vocalist and guitarist
Gender: Female (She/her)
Birthday: July 1st (Cancer)
Height: 168 cm
Family: Father, mother, grandmother
School: Miyamasuzaka Girls Academy (Class 2-A)
Club/committee: Health committee
Hobbies: Learning history of medicine, helping out at an animal shelter
Talents: Making people and animals trust her
Favorite food: Green apples
Least favorite food: Red apples
Dislikes: Seeing someone in pain
Appellations:
"Satou" (Sae)
"Yuuki-san" (Kanami)
"Yuuyuu" (Inori)
Image color: #F1C5FC
Character description: Yuuki is a rather shy and clumsy girl who finds it hard to socialize and make friends, but there's just something about her that makes people like her anyway. Because someone who was very important to her passed away recently due to illness, she became even more quiet and started to think about isolating herself from others, but after meeting a new student who seems to be having health problems as well, Yuuki changed her mind and decided to become friends with her, hoping that she can make her life better and at least a bit easier. Yuuki overall seems to have some kind of savior complex and she's obsessed with helping others and it's hard to say if she does so because she's genuinely that kind or because she wants those people to feel like they owe her.. or because her self-esteem is so low that she needs at least some kind of "proof" that she's still needed and she still can be useful.
Trivia:
She doesn't like red apples because she thinks they aren't as "juicy" as green ones.
Even though she's a huge scaredy cat, she's not afraid of needles at all and actually seems to have some kind of weird fascination with them.
Her favorite animals are dogs, especially big ones.
She's a bit jealous of Ichika and Saki's relationship and wishes to have something similar.
Interestingly, she actually doesn't remember that "important person" that well and she can't even remember if it was a family member, a friend or a significant other. It's possible that her memories related to that person became blurry because of trauma. She doubts that it was a family member though since she's sure her family would've told her about it and she would've noticed something different about their behavior.
Her hair is dyed and her natural hair color is lavender. She dyed it shortly after that "important person"'s death and she thinks it's possible that these two colors were that person's favorite.
Her personality is the reason why she's wearing an outfit more similar to doctor's rather than a hospital gown when performing in the Hospital SEKAI. She sees herself as a doctor and not a patient unlike the other members.
Chou Sae.
Name: Chou Sae (姚咲) (her last name means "beautiful, good-looking" and her first name means "blossom, flourish")
Age: 17 years old
Unit: Pain Killer
Position: Keyboardist
Gender: Female (She/her)
Birthday: January 16th (Capricorn)
Height: 172 cm
Family: Father, mother
School: Miyamasuzaka Girls Academy (2-A)
Club/committee: Library committee
Hobbies: Reading horror novels, playing piano
Talents: Not getting scared easily
Favorite food: Cheese buns
Least favorite food: Hamburger
Dislikes: Crowded places, forgetting her cane
Appellations:
"Sae-san" (Yuuki, Kanami)
"Sae-chan" (Inori)
Image color: #E9BD79
Character description: Sae is a new student and obviously it's hard for her to get used to her new school and her new classmates. She is a quiet person who often scares people away because of how blunt she is and because of her refusing to sugarcoat things, but she is actually just very.. tired. She can't find energy for socializing, so she often ends up saying something completely different from what she wanted to say. It may seem like she treats Yuuki just as coldly as she treats everyone else, but she actually appreciates her company and even finds her cute in some way. She also.. really likes the attention she gets from her.
Trivia:
Sae and Yuuki are classmates.
Sae shares a lot of similarities with Saki, such as being "the new student who couldn't attend school for some time because of illness", having a lot of yellows and oranges in their designs, being keyboardists of their respective units and their names starting with the same two letters. Their personalities are very different though.
When Sae mentioned that she doesn't like hamburgers, Inori stared at her and after a minute of silence asked "What do you have against America?"
Sae has to use a cane because she recently got a knee surgery. It may sound like something that isn't that serious, but Sae actually had to go through quite a lot of surgeries in her life which definitely had a negative impact on her mental health.
Inori decorated her cane to make her feel better. Sae is grateful to her for that.
She particularly enjoys body horror and psychological horror.
Interestingly, she doesn't just see herself as a patient in Hospital SEKAI, she sees herself as a zombie. Meaning that she sees herself as someone who's already dead or she thinks that with all the surgeries she's had, it would probably be better for her to die.
She's the only unit member who Inori couldn't come up with a nickname for, simply because she thought Sae's name is too short.
Nagai Kanami.
Name: Nagai Kanami (永居叶望) (her last name means "eternity, permanence" and "to stay, to be present" and her first name means "fulfill, satisfy" and "hope, wish, desire")
Age: 18 years old
Unit: Pain Killer
Position: Bassist
Gender: Female (She/her)
Birthday: April 23rd (Taurus)
Height: 173 cm
Family: Father, mother, little brother (15 years old), little sister (10 years old)
School: Miyamasuzaka Girls Academy (3-A)
Club/committee: Tea ceremony club
Hobbies: Collecting cute hairclips, learning lore of mascot characters
Talents: Lying
Favorite food: Matcha-flavored pocky
Least favorite food: Egg dishes
Dislikes: Getting up early, paper
Appellations:
"Nagai-senpai" (Yuuki, Sae)
"Kana-senpai" (Inori)
Image color: #E4A1C1
Character description: Kanami is one of the most popular students and she's very respected for being so helpful and kind to everyone. She always has the best grades too. Sadly, she gets sick very often, so she has to skip classes and club activities because of that, but she always tries her best to catch up. She seems to have really bad health anxiety because of that, so you can often see her wearing a mask, gloves or simply using hand sanitizer every few seconds. Some people actually think that Kanami is faking her illness to skip classes, but most people believe that Kanami is the most responsible person you'll ever meet. Except.. those people who think she's faking are right.
Trivia:
Her hair is just like that. It's not a weird haircut, her hair really is just like that. Inori said it looks like wet paper. Kanami was not amused.
Speaking of paper, she actually has an extreme fear of papercuts, so she tries to avoid it.. which is hard to do at school.
Her favorite tea is matcha.
She's the only third year in Pain Killer, so she's often forced to do "adult stuff" such as promoting their group, posting their music, etc. She's not happy about it.
The reason why she's faking her health problems is because she's tired of the pressure she receives from her family and the lack of attention due to her being the oldest child. She knows it's not the smartest decision, but she can't come up with anything else.
She sees herself as a patient in the Hospital SEKAI because she wishes to be one so that she could stop feeling bad about faking her illness. She actually wants to be in pain.
Watabe Inori.
Name: Watabe Inori (渡邉以愛) (her last name means "to cross, to pass over" and her first name means "by means of, because of" and "love, affection")
Age: 17 years old
Unit: Pain Killer
Position: Drummer
Gender: Female (Any pronouns)
Birthday: June 2nd (Gemini)
Height: 166 cm
Family: Mother, older brother (20 years old)
School: Miyamasuzaka Girls Academy (Class 2-B)
Club/committee: Swimming club
Hobbies: Sitting on the rooftop of her house, knife throwing
Talents: Telling ghost stories
Favorite food: Salty popcorn
Least favorite food: Carrots
Dislikes: Relaxing music, bandaids that are "not cute"
Appellations:
"Inori-san" (Yuuki)
"Watabe" (Sae)
"Inori-chan" (Kanami)
Image color: #75C7C0
Character description: Inori never knows when to stop. She laughs too much. Cries too much. Loves too much. So obviously he's not a type of person to take a breakup well. Especially a breakup with a guy who enjoyed seeing her in pain. She still hopes he will come back one day, so for now, she will continue to do horrible things to herself to make him pay attentiom to her. They don't even go to the same school, but it's okay, he can just pay him a visit later. Hanging out with Pain Killer members is fun though.. Maybe even more fun than whatever Inori and that guy had.
Trivia:
Most people refer to Inori by she/her pronouns, but Sae also uses they/them pronouns and Kanami uses he/him pronouns for them.
Inori and that guy were childhood friends and dated for three years.
Yuuki often takes care of Inori's scars and wounds. Inori wasn't happy about it at first since she does so to make their ex-boyfriend come back, but later, he actually started to like the attention they get from Yuuki.
Inori often jokes about looking a lot like Miku (the "classic" one and not their SEKAI one).
She's in the same class as Mafuyu.
Inori finds swimming relaxing.
Unit info.
Unit description: I imagine them being somewhat of a mix of L/N and N25, they're posting their music online and they don't really perform irl and Yuuki created the unit, hoping that they can help people "heal" from their pain with their music.
Unit leader: Yuuki
Original songs info: They mostly play rock (a particularly sad kind) with some elements of electronic music.
Vocaloid covers: I imagine them covering songs like Accomplice by Misumi, Sayoko by Mikito-P, Crier by Scop and Apocalypse Now by Pinocchio-P.
(Bonus) Milgram cover: Even though Throw Down and Triage seem like the obvious choice, I think Weakness would fit their style and their characters much better.

we all know by now that blue represents mike and yellow represents will but... i’m also a FIRM believer that red represents el. (and this is a good thing for byler!)
here’s why.
⚠️spoilers ahead for all of st but mostly s4⚠️
this is gonna be a long one, so, strap in. i promise i’ll make it worth your time!!
also, i’m sure someone’s talked about this at least a little already so i’m sorry if i end up reiterating someone else’s point!
i’m gonna be focusing mainly on season 4, but i wanna start by saying stranger things has always heavily utilized primary colors, aka blue, red, and yellow, for characters’ clothing, set design, lighting, and promotion. now, this doesn’t necessarily have to mean anything but things add up when we get further into it.
here are just a few examples:
Tumblr media
in the poster, clothing, and even the background lights in the s3 mall pic, primary colors are the main ones used.
so... what’s with the colors?
if you’re here you probably know fellow delusional bylers have made wonderful analysis posts about the strategic use of yellow and blue to represent will and mike, and i’ll add some links if i can find them, but to summarize: will is most seen wearing yellow, mike is most seen wearing blue, and they often wear each other’s colors in elements of their outfits. here’s a couple examples from season 4:
Tumblr media
anyway, these are obviously two out of three of the primary colors that stranger things loves to use so much, and mike and will could be considered two out of three of the main characters.
the third primary color is red.
the third main character is el.
i know this sounds like a reach, but hear me out, okay?
eleven is often seen wearing red. it’s hard to say if it’s to the extent that mike and will wear their own colors because of all the time she’s spent in her hospital gown or the sensory deprivation suit, but it’s definitely prominent. mike and will’s outfits also often have red in them, just as el’s outfits often have blue and yellow.
Tumblr media
she usually doesn’t wear a LOT of red, it’s almost always an accenting color to the rest of the outfit. i’ll explain what i think the reason for this is later, and more on why i think it’s her color. this is just me establishing this notion so we can get into it.
what does the use of each color in their outfits mean?
mike, will, and el’s clothes often include each other’s colors, be it a whole shirt or a few stripes, as you can see in some of the pictures above.
from what i’ve gathered the use of each color indicates how much the wearer is thinking about the character it represents, or how important the character currently is to the wearer. this includes when they’re wearing their own color.
i think el beginning to wear more red than she used to signifies her becoming more of her own person, which could also be why she still doesn’t wear that much of it—her life since escaping the lab has been all about saving the world and obsessing over her boyfriend, she hasn’t had time to fully realize who she is as a person.
that, and the idea that the the colors they’re wearing correlate to who they’re thinking about/who’s important to them helps put the s4 ending scene in better context.
Tumblr media
i believe (at least in this scene) that white symbolizes neutrality, as in either no specific person at all or maybe every person as a whole. i included her white sensory deprivation tank outfit because i think it encapsulates neutrality, because being in one of those makes it feel like you’re sort of floating in nothingness.
her outfit in the last scene of s4 is almost completely white with a little bit of pink on the bottom of her sleeves and the flowers in her shirt, and an even smaller amount of yellow and green as a part of the flowers. mike’s confession and max’s near-death might’ve caused her numbness and/or confusion, explaining the neutrality. pink is just a lighter version of red (or red + white) showing that her sense of self is still there, but dimming. then there’s yellow for will, and green for will + mike. there’s no blue at all—she’s probably just done with mike’s shit.
even though i’m focusing on clothes i should point out that all around her in the field are yellow, red, and blue flowers. from some camera angles yellow flowers are the majority which could be hinting at will becoming the main character again in s5. all of the flowers are dying as the upside down takes over their world, and the sky flashes with red lightning. el picks up a dead flower and you can’t tell at that point what color it was, but it might’ve been yellow based on the others in the bunch, which... i’m not actually sure what that means.
the dying flowers look a whole lot like the ones mike brought her in the airport and they’re even the same colors, suggesting a m*leven breakup.
the previous “person they’re thinking about” theory also goes for set design and lighting, but in terms of clothes, here are some of what are imo the most concrete examples of this in s4
Tumblr media
in the top left, will’s waiting for mike to arrive at the airport and he’s SO excited to see him and give him his painting. his shirt is all blue, because his head is completely full of mike.
in the top middle, mike is having a serious argument with el but he doesn’t really care about it. he’s mostly thinking about himself hence the blue shirt, and thinking a little bit about will, hence the thin yellow stripes.
in the top right, el’s shirt is blue and the flannel over it has blue and red stripes, but the base of the flannel... is green. green = blue + yellow. to be fair, the brightness on that picture is significantly turned up and in the original it mostly looks blue, but there is undeniably green in there, especially in other pics. she wore this during her and mike’s fight and while being arrested when mike was telling her that he would fix everything. i don’t think she believed him. i think the green is her beginning to get suspicious.
in the middle, will is emotionally supporting el during her presentation and comforting her when she gets bullied, so his shirt is mostly red stripes. it’s very hard to see here but there are super thin lines of blue, yellow, and green between the red ones.
in the bottom left, el’s dress has big blue, red, purple, and green stripes with scribbles of yellow on most of them. once again green = blue + yellow, but the ones on her dress are leaning more toward blue. then of course, purple = blue + red, mike and el. the stripes on her flannel are blue with yellow on the edges. she’s excited to see her boyfriend for the first time in a while, and will’s tagging along, so she’s thinking about all of them, including herself, and her and mike as a couple.
in the bottom middle, mike’s hat is mostly blue and orange. orange = red + yellow, so he’s thinking about el and will at the same time, and blue means he’s thinking about himself. there’s also some blue-ish green and a few small red circles for el. he wears this when he first arrives in cali, showing that his mind is pretty much split on will and el even though he gives el all his attention.
lastly, in the bottom right is another shot of mike’s cali outfit with his t-shirt being blue and his over-shirt being yellow. this illustrates even further that he’s thinking a lot about will even when seeing his gf for the first time in ages and focusing on her! even his glasses chain is yellow! mike wheeler i know what you are.
so. that was long. but we’re not done yet.
does each character’s color have a deeper meaning?
honestly, yes, i think so.
i’m not some color theory (or film theory) expert and even the small bits i’ve gathered could be wrong, but here’s what i think:
will’s yellow represents the sun
mike’s blue represents the sky
el’s red represents the upside down
let me elaborate.
i’m mostly gonna go in depth for my thoughts on el to support my “red” theory, but i’ll start with will and mike.
the sun and the sky go hand-in-hand, you can’t have one without the other... kinda like two boys we know. they’re also (at least to me) the most obvious blue and yellow “duo”s i can think of, and there’s lots of symbolism of them that fits mike and will as a duo.
Tumblr media
i can’t think of a lot of examples for this off the top of my head, but notice the pictures of will being hit with direct sunlight while mike’s in the shadows beside him. also a picture of el during her fight with mike in nearly the same spot as the pic of will next to it, but no sunshine is on her. this could be meant to show us how mike views will vs how he views her.
mike is the vast, never-ending sky and will is the giant, warming star that lights him up.
okay, now for el. this one’s important.
el opened the first ever gate to the upside down—this is one of the most crucial plot points in the entire show, let alone for just her character. el sent 001 to the upside down and he created his own area of it to keep his victims in. el bleeds out of her nose when she uses her powers, and out of her eyes and ears if she overworks herself.
in general, she has a connection to the upside down and vecna different from any other person in the show.
Tumblr media
all of these things are red.
are you convinced yet?
what do their colors mean in relation to each other?
as i just mentioned, will and mike represent the sun and the sky, some of the most basic symbols for the universe and the earth out there. the sun and the sky are worldly, natural, supposed to be there.
here’s where things look up for byler.
i wanna preface this by saying i absolutely LOVE eleven. she’s always been one of my favorite characters, and i’ve been watching since the beginning. i’m not trying to say she’s unnatural or not meant to be with the rest of the group, hell no. this is just my interpretation of what the show has given us and what it could be for the future of mike, will, and el.
el’s red represents the upside down, which is quite literally the opposite of worldly, a dreadful mirror of the natural universe. this isn’t to say el’s from the upside down because she’s not, she just happens to be connected to it not of her own volition, and opened a portal to it without knowing what she was doing.
this blatantly separates her from will and mike. their motifs are embodiments of the universe and go together effortlessly, while el’s motif is, well, basically the anti-universe. sorry el. love u.
but, is there any other significance behind the use of primary colors besides them being the “main” colors and these three being the main characters?
well...
Tumblr media
i don’t know about you but this looks awfully like a triangle to me.
it’s love triangle symbolism, everyone. pack your things, we’re going home.
besides the obvious that there’s nothing going on between el and will because they’re siblings... there’s a clear love triangle between the three of them regarding el dating mike while will has a crush on him, and the fact that mike will inevitably have to choose who he wants to be with if they continue the storyline they’re on.
they’ve given us some pretty blatant imagery of this in s4. will is in the middle or on the sidelines of basically every m*leven scene this season (and they want us to root for him!)
additional primary color imagery
there’s a few more things i want to point out.
had anyone else noticed they’ve shown us three different versions of the upside down with three different colors?
Tumblr media
i’m gonna be real and say i have no idea what this could mean. i’ll leave that up to you. what i do know is that the top one, the yellow upside down, is the untouched version of it before vecna altered it. the middle blue one is the current version of the upside down, BUT it does have lots of flashes of red lightning. the bottom red one is... honestly i don’t even know, but vecna takes his victims there.
one more thing i noticed before i go:
Tumblr media
this season 4 poster that uses the three primary colors and... green.
we all remember that green = blue + yellow, so.
this could very well just be a graphic design choice, because green is usually what’s added to the other three if another color is needed, but... who knows.
in conclusion, we already knew that mike and will are blue and yellow, but i’m also positive that el is red.
byler endgame is in our sights!!!
if you read this entire thing, first of all, wow. second, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! i hope you found this interesting :)

Hello! Could you give me your personal thoughts/criticisms of each of the Button House ghosts' (from BBC Ghosts) costumes/outfits in detail please? Thanks!!
I feel like I should say, I don’t have a problem with most of the ghosts’ costumes.
Julian’s is fine, I like the garters and the the fact that he’s wearing a striped pale blue shirt and a patterned tie rather than a plain white shirt and a plain red tie. I don’t like what happened to his hair over the course of the series, but I mean, the outfit itself is good.
Pat’s is great - I like his concept/piolet design just a little bit more just because of the green shorts and the rope thing he has around him which is an interesting little accessory - but otherwise, no notes, it’s a scoutmaster uniform, and the aviators are nice. Captain is also fine, I mean, they couldn’t really have mucked up his costume if they’d tried since he’s in a ww2 captains uniform, but point still stands. Robin is fine, it’s fur, it works, Mary’s is also quite nice, I like that’s it’s bright and colourful, and Humphrey's outfit is great, it really stands out against the other costumes because of how bright and bulky it is, and I'm glad they committed to the ruffle.
I legitimately love Annie’s outfit, the cap with the frills, the big fancy collar with the little details - it’s fairly simple but it looks great - Sophie knocks it out of the park with every outfit she wears, they’re all so beautiful, and Isabelle/Francis/Thomas’ outfits are all amazing (I have a soft spot for regency fashion tbh, and for Isabelle’s dress in particularly as a lover of green). The only thing I wish was that Thomas had kept the riding boots (I’m pretty sure he’s wearing them to the party) and the coat he wore to the party. But I also understand why both came off, I just thought they looked nice.
Really, my problem is just with Fanny and Kitty’s outfits.
I don’t know why, but Kitty’s outfit looks a bit cheap to me? I can’t explain it, maybe it’s the material used or something, but it does, and I really don’t like the dark colour scheme. A lot of the dresses I’ve seen from that era have a bit of a lighter colour scheme (though obviously not all of them do), and I really think a lighter colour scheme would really make her pop.  I mean, the other dresses she wears in flashbacks, while still a bit cheap looking, are so much prettier and do suit her so much better. The pink one, the blue one - she looks so lovely in them, and it’s a shame she didn’t get to have one of those as her death outfit.
And Fanny’s outfit… God, I have a soft spot for Edwardian fashion too, and Fanny’s outfit is just so bad. Ignoring the fact that she dies at night so should be in her pyjamas, she has the wrong silhouette, her hair isn’t quite right either, not exactly the Gibson do it should be, I hate the colour, and putting aside historical accuracy, I just hate the dress, I think it’s fucking ugly  asdfgh. When I think of the Edwardian era, I think of those beautifully intricate white blouses and long white dresses, and I wish they’d put Fanny in one of those. She would have looked so much nicer, and not as if she (or one of her servants more like) accidentally put in a black sock with her washing and fucked up the colour.
Like, I know they call her The Grey Lady, but I wish they’d let her wear white. They could’ve called her the lady in white, or the white lady, it would’ve been fine. If they wanted her to looked stuffy and old-fashioned, there were other ways to do it than giving her an ugly outfit that does not look like it should be worn by a Lady of the house. They could have given her a more Victorian-style dress or something, one that’s a bit outdated and shows how she’s still stuck in her ways. Just anything but that dress. Hell, they could’ve kept some of the grey by giving her a white blouse and a long grey skirt, that would’ve worked fine.
I wish I could like, show some examples but my internet is playing up and any time i try to click on a website it just reloads the page so...

Colors in GO
Dec 23: updated purple
Dec 25: fixed blue, forgot to rewrite it before posting
I think the symbolism of blue and green are wrong? They don't mean heaven and hell. They can be associated with heaven and hell, but they don't solely mean that. Orange and white also seem to overlap, being associated with god, but so is blue which has been said to be divinity. I realized these were all entangled when writing various meta and trying to figure out what was going on in several scenes. Surely they do not all mean the same thing! Lo and behold, they do not.
Now that we all art here, let us recount the deeds of the dyes:
Brown: choice, free will/fate
White: playing by the rules
Black: Deceit
Blue: life/death
Gold: God's presence/watching
Green: god's game, the ineffable plan
Orange: agents of god's will
Red: passion
Yellow: defiance
Purple: power
Note: The shade of each color can mean something different. For example, say pink means love, then bright pink means love, and dark red would be absence of love or a negative/bad connotation. The way colors are combined also matters for context, what's on top or the placement on clothing vs how much of a color there is, what's the "core" color, etc. I am not sure, but I think in scenes where a tint is dominating the other colors, and makes a color look different, then the changed color is supposed to look different: so if in shadow gray looks black, then I think it's meant to be read as black.
There are other things that colors can stand for too, such as red being for blood or love. Those are the traditional symbolism, not the *main* usage in GO. I think some colors also aren't commenting on what is happening in a scene itself, but are foreshadowing future actions or telling us about hidden intent.
Also, I have been wrong about the colors before, this is merely the latest iteration on what I think they mean. I belabored it this time though, so I am pretty confident in these.
Opening montage=very beginning of s1e1 before Eden; intro=sequence we see with the theme music every episode.
Brown: choice, freewill vs fate
Basket the antichrist was delivered in, Hastur's and Aziraphale's clothes. Sandalphon's clothes. Obviously the ground and Adam's forest, seats in the bentley in s1 are dark brown. Lots of dark wood at the satanic hospital. Metatron's clothes. Jesus on the cross symbol, the cross itself. Furnishings and draperies at the Ritz are tan/cream. Desert of War's sword delivery, War's sword has dark brown on it, and half the clothing of the woman who demands to sign first. The summoner's clothes and every box he delivers. The witchfinders who burn Agnes wear dark brown, as does Agnes and the villagers. Floor of modern Anathema's house and the box holding the prophecy cards are dark brown, plus the cards themselves are tan/cream.
It can't be just earth alignment because Sandalphon isn't.
Brown is choice; light brown is free will and darker is more fate. It's associated with humanity but it's not solely humanity. Darker brown is less of a choice, pressured choice, and/or fate, like Anathema's family had with the prophecies: you don't have much of a choice when the world is on the line. They could have chosen not to follow the book though. Sandalphon has latitude in how he conducts himself and treats humans: he does not have to act as he does. Aziraphale's waistcoat gets lighter and worn as he develops his own beliefs rather than rigidly relying on heaven's demands, as he makes his own choices. He adds more lighter brown over time as he makes his own choices instead of being railroaded by fate.
Particularly, humanity was cut off from the light sandy desert while walled into Eden. When Crowley stops time, they all stand on light sand. The bentley having dark brown seats means it's got choice, but not much of one since it's tied to Crowley; also it was part of fate. Creating the antichrist was a choice, was also possibly a forced choice on Satan's part.
When Azi is discorporated to heaven and we meet the heavenly soldiers, he is dressed in a white shirt and tan coat and pants: he's got a choice to make, to go to war or not. The soldiers too all are making a choice to go to war, only pushed along a little bit by fate: the darker brown in their kilts. Except Azi has a white shirt, while the soldiers are button up fully in their choice, with white earpieces.
White: playing by the rules
White can't be specifically heaven or god, since we see it on Adam and we see bits of it on Crowley at some points. Aziraphale is not all white when he's discorporated in heaven as he defies heaven and talks to Crowley as a ghost: he's a white shirt and tan pants and coat. The outfit Adam has for s1, changing only the coat:
Tumblr media
That is not heavenly, he's the antichrist. Can't be heaven's watching either.
Can't be strictly heavenly, because when Satan gives Crowley instructions it's white mist. It can't be autonomy, because that isn't the angels, isn't heaven, and Crowley would have some white as a demon. There has to be a reason why it's on Adam's core instead of on the surface like the coat. Playing by the rules? Yes--just like the "shades of gray", there's multiple ways to bend that just like god does, and you can play by the rules for your own ends, which fits why it's associated with heaven and god, and also why black is all over Crowley because he makes his own rules. Crowley also plays by the rules in the arrangement sometimes, respecting Aziraphale and the system, so that could be why it shows up on him sometimes. The new "ye saga continues" that Anathema burns at the end of s1 is cream, ie true but somewhat obscure as prophecies are wont to be.
The first time we see white is in the opening montage, where it's the color of the correct statements. That would appear to be truth, but it's god's truth, and Adam certainly isn't in line with that. And that truth here is malleable, because Adam's truth isn't the world's truth, he can remake it as he wants. So this isn't so much "truth" or reality as it is playing by the rules: what god says is true, but god can also lie, and those correct statements are backed with black. If white is playing by the rules, then black is lawlessness and deceit, so god's lying. This is why angels used to be white, and why Azi was white as an angel but in modern times is gaining light brown as his waistcoat wears out: he's gaining not "clarity" or truth but choice, freewill as he develops his own beliefs. This would explain why it's Adam's core, and why Azi gets a whole shirt of it which allows him to make a different choice than everyone else in heaven, who only get helmets and earpieces of white aka it's pounded into their heads: everything Azi does while in heaven is playing by the rules, the Metatron said he could finish what he was doing and that's what he's claiming to do.
Interestingly, the lightning used by both heaven and hell is white. White tends to be associated with heaven, but it's not exclusive. Pollution is smokey/champagne, so white can't be truth--but pollution is playing by the rules, as they themselves say. White can be truth, a filter, to remove deceit, but it's not strictly truth.
This is part of the parody: white is usually truth, but here it's a twisted version of "being in the light" that makes god look like a double dealing salesman.
Black: deceit, duplicity
Opposite to white, it's deceit, as when Aziraphale wears black to do his magic act: all the rules are out the window, nothing is as it seems. It's associated with hell, but not solely satanic, cf the angels' suits again. This also means that Satan and Beez were hiding things all the way back from s1.
Interestingly, the Ritz is white marble with tan/cream fabric. Sleeve on the dealer in the baby swap card game. The opening montage shades between navy and black for the color of "space": god's lying.
Silver is between black and white, and it depends on context: the angels lose their white robes over time, which matters because they are moving away from strict rule abiding to double talking for many of them to get away with things they shouldn't--or possibly so the system doesn't catch their disapproval of it. This is shades of gray used in a negative way as opposed to the way Crowley and Aziraphale use "shades of gray" to do things better. Same reason why Crowley's wings as an angel started darkening in before the beginning when he found out his stars were going to be destroyed, because he was going to do whatever it took to save them, rules and authority be damned. Here is where the parody of traditional apocalypse fiction comes in: black is traditionally bad, but here it's not necessarily because you can use deceit to do good when in a corrupt system, as Crowley and Aziraphale do, and using it to do bad is negative. Puts Satan's black in a whole new light, eh?
The difference between playing by the book and outright deceit is whether what you're doing is acceptable: Adam's "you are not my father" took the latitude he was given, while the archangels gleefully move line markers and lie about it.
The silver chain Crowley loses in s2 represents hell's authority over him: hell is lawless as the sham trial Crowley got shows, but its denizens are expected to follow the rules. Silver chain of hell, silver suits for heaven: not so different after all.
Blue: life/death
This doesn't mean heaven. I think people got this idea because of the light blue blanket in the baby swap alongside the white and red one that people took to mean hell, but that's not what that means: red doesn't mean hell; only one of the two babies is Jesus, and we don't know which one yet.
The first blue we see is the navy on the TV screen in the opening scene, I think space might be navy and obviously the earth's blue water that shows up thrice. A large neon blue and black eye as god tells us the fossilized dinosaurs are a joke the scientists haven't caught on to yet. Black means deceit, so god's lying about the dinosaurs. The libra symbol is white and light blue. Water in the middle of Eden is dark blue and possibly dark green, the sky is light blue. Jesus in s2 is shown with a neon blue sash.
Light blue is life, dark blue is death.
Leaving Eden was leaving death to seek life: leaving dark blue water to enter light blue sky and sand.
Warlock and Mr Dowling wear light blue shirts, Adam has a faded blue jean jacket. Light blue and white lights on the ambulance that brings the Dowlings to the hospital. Aziraphale wears a light bluegreen shirt, but often it does appear white or light blue. Water in the park, where the ineffables know they're being watched, is actually dark green, not blue. Some of the accessories of the people where War gets her sword delivery are navy, including light blue bulletproof vests, who all die. Outside of the coffee shop is dark blue with a light blue awning and patio fence in s1: life, death and liberty are intertwined, but we never go in to get any liberty ie coffee.
The first time we see the Ritz as they discuss the apocalypse in s1e1, there's a light blue set of windows and a white chandelier framed in the center between the ineffables: life is restricted by the rules, keeping them apart. Aziraphale's tie is light blue and white as the gardener. Light blue lights in Warlock's room, plus a light blue globe. Dark blue water on globe in heaven: heaven is death. The clothing shop next to the bookshop is dark blue. S1e2 starts in the light blue sky with white clouds and dark blue river: life by the rules inevitably leads to death. Light blue pool at Anathema's house and she's in a light blue dress. Newt's car is neon blue. Dark blue recycle bin at Newt's work, the witchfinder ad is circled in dark blue.
Tracey's bra is bright neon blue under a neon orange slip.
The other boys in Them have blue jeans, and Pepper has blue overalls. Adam has one outfit and two/three coats; one is blue, one is the green/blue shown above. Bright blue paint on Aziraphale at the paintball mansion, and light blue paint used by the yellow team, who are wearing white and one of whom has pearls on.
Light blue shirt on the staff at the cafe after the paintball fight. When Aziraphale makes Tracy's scooter fly, the miracle power is light blue: perhaps Aziraphale has the power of life.
Youngs have light blue, some dark blue stripes, when they're in bed. Adam has navy stripes with white on pjs. Light blue fractured lit windows around Azi's head when he finds Agnes's book in the car: the book has given him the ability to preserve life.
Blue in Azi's Shakespeare costume. Juliet, selling oranges, may have a blue costume? Single navy stripe in France's executioner's costume and the center of the flower decoration, which becomes Azi's costume. Beginning of 1941 memory tinted navy outside, so is inside the church, except the nazi space which is yellow. Crowley's dark blue 1941 shirt in both seasons. Adam's aura is yellow outside, then green/blue, red, white. The couple on the bench have a blue aura. Witchfinder manual is blue. Blue and white curtain behind Arthur Young as Adam reads witch magazine. Bandstand top is faded blue. Delivery man's bedsheets are faded blue. Witchfinder candle is light blue. The lights in the electrons Crowley runs through with Hastur are red, light blue, white, and gold. Blue ribbons on Beez s1, navy and light blue.
Neon blue is the last color in the memory tunnel Gabriel experiences getting his memories back, and blue is the tint of the graveyard scene in the last memory he meets Beez to look at his statue.
Gold: god's presence/watching
Gold is not yellow. I am not sure if brass is meant to be gold. I think the antenna on Beez's s1 hat may be copper/rose gold? Dark gold? Not sure. Could be glitter orange.
The first gold we see is a the 14 billion number as the age of the earth, gold shading to white. Then a gravity drawing around the planets to the sun, there are planets in gold, cards, and dealer's hands as god explains her game is like a dealer in a dark room. The libra earth horoscope is gold. Crowley's snake eye appears to be light gold--the show can do yellow, it would look yellow if that's what they meant. Dark gold/brown lion that tries to kill Adam and Eve.
This was extremely difficult to figure out, but I am pretty sure it's god's presence. I don't think there is a "dark" meaning for gold (though gold can be combined with other colors), because there is brass on the witchfinders that burn Agnes, and Agnes's daughter and husband are surrounded by what appears to be a lot of brass instruments. I don't think that scene would make sense if brass meant god's absence or disapproval. Brass could mean dark yellow though, or yellow and black, in which case that scene belongs to another color and not here. I also don't think gold denotes god's approval.
There are what seem to be gold chandeliers in the satanic hospital as they discuss the instructions for the baby swap.
The decoration on some of the angels' faces, and their rings. But when they're threatening Aziraphale in s1, they no longer have the face paint--does this mean the angels know what the paint does, or does the paint move on its own? This absence is why I think missing gold where it ought to be may mean "not ordained", because traditionally people would claim things like that in god's name. Sandalphon may still have the silver upper tooth decoration but he does not have the gold bottom ones in that scene. Michael has the gold when presenting the earth files on Crowley and when tattling to hell. The angels also cover their rings a lot--given they're in silver suits, this would fit a "hiding from god's sight" type of thing. The gold on their faces does not come back until they try to execute the ineffables, both Uriel and Micheal have it again.
I'm not sure if Michael has silver and orange or gold and orange paint the first time we see them in s1e1. I can't tell if there's gold or silver when they present the earth observation files. Given how obviously gold the gold on Uriel is, I think it's likely silver.
This would make sense why there is more gold in the s2 Job flashback: god is nosing in to see what happens with Job. Perhaps the robes change by will of god, they aren't something the angels choose to change, ditto the face paint.
Tracey's room is decorated in a lot of gold. Crowley's thrones and some other furniture. Edges of angel clothing before modern times. Aziraphale's desk chair. Number 4 delivery room, the Dowlings', in the satanic hospital was glowing gold or maybe yellow/orange, ditto #3 room. Cuff of the dealer in baby swap card game. Some decorative edging on the marble walls at the Ritz. Decoration on the sheathe of War's sword. Decoration on Agnes's book and gilt edging on pages. The color of the miracle dust when Crowley checks if it worked. Gold items on Aziraphale's desk and throughout the shop, the ring on Nanny's umbrella. Aziraphale's fob watch on his waistcoat, his waistcoat during his magic act in s1, and the merry go round at Warlock's bday in s1. Pepper's crown she's holding when the hellhound shows up. Aziraphale's mail slot on the shop. Brass buttons on Adultery Pulsifer and his "assistant"? Several medals on Shadwell's coat when we meet him preaching on the street. Gold on the edge of the red witchfinder patch.
All the prophecies in gold lettering on the screen as Azi reads them. Holy bible title in gold letter above the cocoa that doth grow cold. Buttons on the sleeve cuff of the sweater Azi wears to read Agnes's book.
Gold chain in the bartender's hair in Rome, her gold shoulder accessories, Azi's too. Gold on the columns at the Globe, in Shakespeare's costume, and on Hamlet's: god's watching Shakespeare. Gold on the top of Crowley's cane in 1862. Candle holders on left side in nazi church are gold. Gold closures on the bookbag Crowley saves. Gold rims on Crowley's 1967 glasses. Gold around the striptease sign. Gold ring visible as Azi calls Shadwell, and Shadwell's shoulder emblem is gold. Famine's companion is dressed in gold bolero, thick gold chain in diner scene and tons of gold accessories. Atlantean people have tons of gold. Gold street performer statue in the park. The lights in the electrons Crowley runs through with Hastur are red, blue, white, and gold. Newt's socks are red and gold during armageddon, gold shirt. Mostly gold/red credenza blocking off Azi's desk during Metatron summoning, gold candle holders. Gold all around Metatron head in s1, and Shadwell uses gold key to pick bookshop lock. Gold on the heavenly quartermaster and soldiers.
God's been around a lot of Crowley and Azi's dates. Really fascinated with the strippers too, though that's biblical.
Green: god's game/ineffable plan
NOT HELL, not evil. In s2 green is all over hell like a toxic gas. But in s1, green is not in hell except to tint hell's escalator. I don't think it's supposed to mean "just hell" in s2 either.
The first large "green" thing in s1 is the dark green chalkboards with the dates on them, and then a huge black and neon green CORRECT stamp in the montage talking about James Ussher's theories on the creation of the universe. This green is a neon version of the green we see in s2 hell and on s1 hell's escalator. Then we have a large dinosaur arm in the same "hell" neon shot with black, just as god is telling us about the dinosaurs being a joke people haven't understood yet. Black is deceit, so god is lying about the dinosaurs. We are already playing her game.
This is followed by a bunch of decorative looking things, astrology and writing of various greens, the giant eye starts out that neon green before going navy, along with dark green poker chips and neon green math. As in, a game. The s1 intro is almost completely hell green, and specifically there's a dark green street sign. One person in the Jesus scene has some dark green on. In the dealer's baby swap game, the third child isn't blue, he's dark green: this is the baby with the light blue blanket, Warlock. Satan's game is the baby swap, that's what he planned; God's game is the dealer's card game, we know because there's gold on the dealer's cuff. The backdrop to Satan's card game in the baby swap is dark green, and both hospital beds have bright green blankets over white.
Eden is tons of greens that look dark from far away, and dark blue water. Adam and Eve's clothes are dark green. The Youngs' clothes are heavily if not always greens, as are their bedding--again, they aren't agents of chaos themselves. The hospital itself has dark green and white alternating walls. Water in the spy park is actually not blue but dark green.
The forest Adam plays in is green and brown, and there's lots of the parks shown in the show. Anathema's coats are dark green and black or green and purple, and her house is surrounded by bushes and trees, a lot of her clothes are dark green. Tracey's clothing is various greens. The head of the cane/umbrella Crowley uses as Nanny is bright green. Agnes's book is dark green and gold. Crowley's plants are dark green. Ennon's clothes are darker green, he turns into an orange gecko.
The green gas choking Soho during the demon attack in s2, and the lights turning the same green in the bookshop during the demon attack. When Beez disappears to tattle to Satan at the end of s1, the color of the pop smoke is bright green, the same color as hell green, and I would assume all demons have the same color. The angel phones glow the same green of s2 hell. The statue of liberty figure in the coffee shop in s2 is the same green--but Eden was green too so it can't be liberty or freedom, or chaos.
I think the Great Plan is something all the angels were told and was recorded/was written, but the ineffable plan is god's game, and that is what green represents. Change IS the game, so darker green is more change, like Agnes's book, like Adam and Eve's clothes.
These are not agents of god's will as they act independently. This means Agnes and her book was part of god's game; the baby swap was part of the plan and the game. Eden was both plan and game: will they take the apple; Adam and Eve became part of the game once they did.
In s2, the blue and dark green coffee shop whose coffee represents liberty has dark brown chairs outside, and blue and the green of hell inside. I think this can be interpreted as this is a piece of god's game, life and death are a choice within which is god's game, and discovering that leads to freedom.
If there is a plan and a game, then bright green is more "plan" than game. Darker is less part of the plan. That's why the the CORRECT stamp in the montage is neon, because you are supposed to know that's wrong, and why Nanny's cane is bright green and s1 demon pops are bright green, but Agnes's book is dark green. Demon pops in s1 are bright green, I think because the fall was planned, just as the baby swaps and births were planned. The pops change in s2 to purple, perhaps because everything we see is interfering with their own kind rather than humans.
Are the angel phones green because they connect to hell? I don't think so, because the phones must do things besides that. Every time the phones were used they were green, so at the least talking to hell generates change in heaven. I think they have the phones turn off by blowing on them so that they don't have to touch them, because touching would be "dirty" and contaminating--can't be having angels get infected with hell, can't have the angels directly touching "change".
Anathema's shirt is light blue checking in to the UK, her bike is aqua--the bike appears to match Azi's shirt. Aqua, I think, is blue plus green: life plus game aka gambling with life. Anathema and Azi are pieces in the game of life. In s2e1, Aziraphale is a shooting star that's blue, and they're on a background of black and dark green. God's been gaming since, well, always. I think Azi's blue shooting star also means he was the one who made people, and perhaps the earth.
Orange: agent of god/god's will
The first orange we see is, I think, in the opening montage on some of the monks who got the dates of the creation of the earth wrong--they're in a ROYG rainbow. Then on James Ussher's clothing, the guy who got the creation of the earth slightly wrong, who is red, black and light orange (shades from gold to orange, I think) with a roman numeral clock behind him, various oranges. Dealer hands go from gold to orange as god explains her game.
Sash on Beelzebub in s1. Shakespeare's columns are red/orange. Tracey's hair/clothing is bright orange and Crowley's snake belly is dark, his hair looks dark orange too in s1. The fire Agnes Nutter burned in, and the candle flame in her house. Maude's shirt, the wife of the delivery man of the four horsemen. Holy fire on Aziraphale's sword, hellfire, fire that announces demonic arrival. Number 3 delivery room, the Youngs', glowed orange on fire, but it may have yellow/gold in it too. Job's and Jemimah's clothes, columns in his house, most of the color of the TV show that Hastur and Ligur take over to talk to Crowley. The record shop and accessories Maggie wears. The Jesus picture in Crowley's flat is entirely light orange and white. Juliet in the Shakespeare flashback is selling oranges. Orange and white cone in the paintball manor. Dark orange seat belts in the summoner's delivery truck.
Not all fire is orange. Some is yellow or white.
Originally I had this as god's presence, but I think gold fits more with that. This one thus is agents of god--god isn't there, but these are acting out god's will.
Crowley's hair throughout time:
Bright orange: BTB, Job, Tracey, Edinburgh, 1967
Dark orange: s1 present, 2008, nanny, noah?, jesus, rome, shakespeare, paris is brown?, 1862,
dark red: 1941, s2,
I think bright orange is agents for positive change, and dark orange are agents of "negatives". Crowley may not do much negatives himself, but Beez has that dark orange sash. Negative can also mean "throw a wrench in the works" like stopping the apocalypse.
Jemimah has orange clothes and becomes a neon blue gecko.
Red: passion
I think brighter reds are negative, and darker is positive/love. I think pink is fake negative, fake threat: we see it on Mrs Sandwich and in Tracey's bedroom.
Dark red bookshop, dark red backing on the thundergun: Azi loves his shop and Shadwell loves hunting witches. Tracey's apartment is dark red with aqua in the outer room: she helps people, and helps Shadwell a lot, and has knowledge of god's plan.
The big black and neon red "incorrect" stamp in the montage as god says some creationists are wrong, and the black and red "WARning": fake warning, god's lying about the dates, and god feels angry about it. Telephone Crowley calls from to tell Az about apocalypse: fear and anger. Shakespeare in dark red and gold outfit: god's in the audience, he loves his work and so does god. I'm not actually sure if Satan himself is dark red or bright red, he appears to be both, which is fascinating. Several buses shown are bright red while the ineffables are working out how to find the lost antichrist. There are several more buses when Crowley's racing to the bookshop after Aziraphale drops the phone when Shadwell breaks in, and more bright red firetrucks at the shop while it's on fire. Crowley's table he uses to plan running away is dark red; he loves his stars. Pepper's shoes are bright red and her raincoat is dark red: she's got anger but mostly motivated by love. Anathema's pencil when she's hunting for Adam is bright red, she's frustrated. The voicemail counter on Crowley's player that traps Hastur is red, as is the holy water bucket.
The apple in Eden is both bright and dark red, topped with yellow: love isn't possible without anger and fear, and in fact the point of the tree wasn't damnation but a test since it's covered in dark green and dark brown too? Shax's dress is dark red, as is her battle corset: she loves her job, and possibly Crowley too. It's the color of the bottom of the antichrist's baby basket and blanket; the baby itself can't really be passion or devotion, but it does inspire fear and it's a threat. Adam wears a red/brown/white checked coat during the witch hunting game, and has a dark red popsicle later. his eyes turn a core of bright red, ringed in dark red, edged in black: his intentions are to fix the world, but he's doing it through destruction and anger.
Crowley also gets contacts through his car radio, which is bright red.
Crowley's hair in s2 is also dark red. In 1941, his hair is also dark red.
Tracey's bedroom is pink, gold, and red; the flogger is pink and silver. I think this lines up with her "intimate relaxation for the discerning gentleman": she's a fake threat in the bedroom. And god's watching. Her slip as she thinks Newt wants an appointment is orange.
Red has some clear examples of other meanings than "passion": in s1 there's a large red drape of fabric in the Jesus scene, it also stands for blood, though technically war and negative emotion would tend to drag blood in with it; in s2 the tomatoes as Gabriel walks to the bookshop are both invoking the apocalypse (spilled blood) that Gabriel nixed and perhaps also the passion of Christ, as Jim is also a Christ figure.
Yellow: defiance
Not the same as gold. This has been proposed to be fear, which does fit a lot of the appearances of yellow, but then Gabriel lights his own statue with yellow light in s2e6 and the bar he meets Beez in right after is bright yellow. I don't think they're fearful there.
The first time we see yellow is the opening montage, in the text shot with black addressed to kids to not attempt armageddon at home. Which we see the Adam doing. As god says if the universe "didn't just start, unofficially", and we see a red explosion with yellow in the middle. The people claiming it's 14B are shaded in bright yellow, as is the incorrect age of the earth. One of the parade of rainbow wrong monks is yellow. Lots of the latter montage comes out of the yellow sun. Adam and Eve leave Eden into the light yellow sun: more evidence that the apple business wasn't exactly a sin, so where did the angels and heaven get that idea? Did god tell them a lie as she lied to us all through the opening montage? Light yellow lights in sushi place: eating as an angel is frowned upon but not massively disapproved of.
Aziraphale's hair is sometimes blonde, and it seems to do that when he's under stress--both the good and bad kinds, which fits with defiance as that would cause him stress. Job's basement is dirty yellow walls: deceit plus defiance at their orders. Crowley's eyes are yellow, except his snake eyes which seem more gold. The back room of the bookshop is a bright yellow, but most of the front shop is a dark yellow or brown, I think? A lot of the sores on hell's denizens are light yellow. I think brass counts for yellow, it's dark yellow, or maybe it belongs with gold. Perhaps the confusion is deliberate. One of the paintball teams is denoted by yellow flags, and we know that scene is meant to be an echo of the war in heaven (obviously I don't agree with the color analysis in there). The yellow team uses blue paint, the red team uses red paint.
The bentley's headlights when they hit Anathema are yellow: neither of them are supposed to help her because she's working against armageddon. Az's halo is yellow and white when he throws it.
Saturated yellow is defiance, and faded/lighter shades are less so. That lighter shades are more white is deliberate: white is playing by the rules, conformity.
Thaddeus Dowling isn't with his wife while she's giving birth, and his video screen is framed with the yellow and red of the ambulance: he's defying her demands to be there, and it's painted as being out of fear or anger. She is in super dark red jacket over a peach dress, with a bright orange object above her head and pearls on her neck: she's in love and the ambulance is god's rep on earth, but all colors paint her baby as Jesus, wrapped in the white blanket of playing by the rules.
Purple: power
Gabriel's tie, which he does not have during s1e6 armageddon, and the purple color of his eyes which he loses for most of s2. Interestingly, his tie gets super purple in heaven and more dull on earth; I think his eyes do too but that's harder to see. See this post for analysis of Gabriel's eyes, which mean omnipresence, the "power of sight".
Very purple tie when we see him on earth in s1e2, as he flexes his position over Aziraphale. The color of the miracle plume in s2, the color of angelic dust left behind when they pop away as when Gabriel leaves to tattle to Satan after the notapocalypse, and in s2 the color of everyone's arrival and departure pop dust. RP Tyler's weenie has a dark purple aura. Famine's companion has a lavender air bubble appetizer in the fancy restaurant that is framed as snobbery. One of Anathema's coats is purple and green. There are purple math equations in the opening narration: science is explicitly framed by god as humans thinking they know better, when really god is lying and science is the path to learning and mastering god's game.
It's the color of the words "miracle blocker" and a splash of color from it when Furfur engages the card. Keziah's clothes are purple, maroon, and gold, and she becomes a dark brown or yellow gecko with black spots.
This is power. More saturated/neon shades are more power; duller or lighter shades are less power. Where the purple is can denote what kind of power, as with Gabriel's eyes.
The reason only an archangel could have made that plume in s2 is because they're the ones with that level of power. What color were miracles for everyone else? In s1, Azirahpale's were blue. Though if everyone now has purple pop dust, and that's retroactive through history, could anyone do it? Does everyone have archangel power now after Adam's reboot? If so, why was the dust Crowley poked gold?

i find the whole charles painting thing so fascinating. like from the second i saw it, it was like, this guy either hates the royal family or he the wrong type of painter for this job (as in the royal family didn't do their research) but looking at his other portraits I'm that post is like. wow. he's incredible, but he obviously hates the fucking royal family. so i went to his work to find other examples beyond that of the post. mind you im not the best at explaining my feelings about art. but i'm gonna try.
Tumblr media
this one caught my eye. this is a study of Juan Manuel Santos, a president of Colombia. Yeo speaks of him with respect on his website. what caught my eye was that at a first glance, he looks washed out in a similar way that Charles was, but when you look for another half a second, you can see that he looks softer. his face is kind, a bit intense (placement of his hands and such), but approachable. he's a man with a lot of power, he works hard, that's obvious, but he's kind.
the color palate is softer, less surprising to the eye and it paints him in more of a gentle light rather than the deep red on Charles.
Tumblr media
this example was used in the last post but i wanted to elaborate. the same reds, though a bit lighter, are used in this portrait. there is so much red that he looks like he has blood on his medals and even his face a bit. his uniform, unlike Santos' clear one, is completely washed out. there is no medal that stands out or positive factor here.
these two have completely different feelings to them and it's so cool to look at side by side.
anyways i agree with the conclusion that Yeo does Not like the royal family and instead of not taking the job he said, "yeah, i'll paint you, i'm gonna ruin your Whole Career though." he's making a political statement and the royal family is either too stupid to understand or they are unsure how to react. lol.
