Felix has been flirting with Hyunjin for over ten minutes, which is only a problem for you because he is sitting on the only ladder in the entire bookstore. The shop owner sits on the middle rungs as the florist leans against the wall and dramatically tells him about his morning. Felix clutches the bundle of white and yellow daffodils Hyunjin brought for him to his chest with a dreamy smile.

Residing on one of the upper shelves, out of your reach, is a new romance novel that you came to purchase. You steal a glance at Hyunjin and Felix, then continue glaring at your target. Now, it was not just the minor inconvenience souring your mood, but the envy of seeing the two men together. You felt incredibly unlucky in comparison to the perfect couple chatting away in the corner. You were tired of reading about romance, and more than ready to find it for yourself.

The tips of your fingers just brush the spine of one of the copies as you try again, and you sigh in defeat. Climbing the shelf would be entirely too hazardous, although you are getting desperate enough at this point to try it. You had been waiting for this book for months. But, as miserable as you were, you refused to interrupt Felix and Hyunjin.

“Hey there,” You look over your shoulder to face the man that speaks to you, “You, uh, look like you could use a little help?”

“I’ve got it.”

The speed in which you turn away is criminal. The stranger is incredibly handsome, and you would be damned if you let the cutest man to ever walk into this bookstore see the smut you were trying to pull off the shelf. He clears his throat gently and you peek over your shoulder at him.

“Hm, are you sure? I’ve got to grab something up there anyway.”

“O-Okay. I-If you wouldn’t mind…”

You are about to move when the man drops a stepstool behind you and springs onto it with ease. He braces one hand over your shoulder and leans in, his chest brushing against your back as he grabs the books. Your breath catches as he hops down again, and you will yourself to breathe as you turn around. You inhale sharply as he does not hand the book over to you, but flips through it instead. He then reads that lovely little page of content warnings- mainly kinks- listed by the author at the beginning of the book.

Your face burns as he hums and casually places it in your hand.

“Here’s your book.”

“It’s not mine,” You blurt quickly.

“Oh? Did you want a different one?”

You clutch it to your chest.

“N-No! I-I’m buying it… for my friend. I don’t read this stuff.”

“Oh, I see,” There is a troublesome little glint in his eye, “That’s a shame. That author is quite popular. Maybe you should give it a try?”

You squirm under his playful gaze. You wish you could just melt into the bookcase to escape this conversation.

“No.”

“No? Why not?”

“It’s not… realistic…”

His eyebrows quirk but he looks satisfied with your answer. Felix interrupts the tense moment as he begins leaving the bookstore with Hyunjin.

“Hey, Chan, I’m taking my break now. You got an eye on the cash?”

“Yeah, mate, you’re good. I’ll see ya in a bit.”

Hyunjin gives you an excited wave, which you return shyly, as Felix adds:

“Oh, y/n, I put a book aside for you. It’s behind the counter. Chan, her name is on it.”

“Alright.”

“Thank you,” You murmur.

The doorbell chimes as the door falls shut behind them, and you are left alone with Chan. He kicks up the stepstool and catches it one hand.

“Well, y/n,” He coos in his lovely accent, “I’ll be at the cash if you need anything. Give me a shout if you have any questions, yeah?”

“Y-Yeah, sure.”

He winks and walks behind the counter, settling in and opening the book he pulled from the shelf. You stall for a bit, then steel your nerves and approach the checkout. Chan sets his book aside and smiles as you set yours on the counter. He finds the book Felix set aside for you, and it is the exact same book you pulled from the shelf.

The road to Hell is truly paved with good intentions.

Chan pauses then coyly asks, “I guess you don’t want two of these, hm?”

You puff your cheeks.

“No.”

He chuckles and begins ringing up your purchase.

“Okay, I won’t tease you anymore. You don’t have to be embarrassed, you know?”

“I’m not embarrassed.”

He side-eyes you playfully.

“Alright. Are you paying with cash or card?”

“Cash.”

You quickly pull the bill from your pocket and hand it to Chan. You are both quiet as he makes your change then hands it back to you. You count it then furrow your brow gently.

“Something wrong?”

“Um, it seems… You gave me extra.”

He checks the receipt then looks at your hand as you hold it out to him.

“No, it’s right.”

“You gave me a discount?”

You drop the change in your pocket and accept the book and receipt as he hands them to you.

“Of course. Pretty girls shouldn’t have to pay full price.”

You fluster.

“I thought you said you weren’t going to tease me anymore?”

He rests his chin in his hand and leans his elbows on the counter with a smirk.

“That wasn’t teasing. That was flirting.”

You clutch the book to your chest and duck your blushing face.

“Well…”

He giggles and the charming sound startles you to look up again.

“Sorry. I’ll stop.”

“I-It’s okay.”

“Hm?”

“Uh, you don’t have to stop.”

Chan smiles warmly.

“Only if you like it.”

“I, um, I do.”

“Okay then. Well, I hope your friend likes the book.”

“It’s almost worse when you pretend you don’t know…”

“Well, for the record, I believed you a little bit.”

“Sure.”

“I did,” He purrs, “And I would agree with you. I tried to read those books but they weren’t really my thing.”

“You did?”

“Mhm, like you said: it wasn’t realistic. If you’d like an example of something more realistic though, I’d be happy to show you.”

You roll your eyes as a grin breaks out on his face. Although he delivered the line with confidence, his whole face is flushed like yours.

“I’ll keep that in mind…”

Chan winks as you walk away.

“Have a good day!”

You rush out of the bookstore and pause outside as you notice something sticking out of the book you just purchased. You flip it open to see a scrap of paper with a phone number written on it. You look through the window of the bookstore to see Chan, giving you a fluttery wave as you piece it all together. You huff and cover your face as you stomp away, but you cannot suppress your charmed smile.

Love's Legacy - A not-so-challenging legacy challenge

Are you more of a storyteller than a gameplayer?

Do you tell the story but ignore the objectives and just say you did because telling the story became the main focus?

Do you dislike when a challenge doesn’t leave room for personalization and creativity?

Well have I got the “challenge” for you!

Let’s get this out of the way, this is more of a legacy “template” than anything. Not many rules, few trait/aspiration requirements. The only rules you’ll see are to help set the narrative of each trope.

The “Love’s Legacy” is a “challenge” based on some of the most popular romance novel tropes. So if you love telling romance stories, this is the one for you!

Gen 1: Amnesia

You’ve just started this legacy, what’s a better way to jump-start a story than with not really having a backstory…or at least knowing it right away.

Your sims MUST start out in a relationship at the beginning of the story.

One of the sims (can be the heir or the partner) MUST lose their memories (especially the ones containing their partner)

The amnesia-sim MUST move out/the couple MUST separate

The amnesia sim MUST regain their memories at some point

The couple at the beginning are not required to get back together, you may do as your story sees fit.

Although they are not required to get back together, the initial pairing must be the parents that create the Gen 2 Heir.

Gen 2: Sunny v. Grumpy

Last gen was a bit of a dramatic one, so now you get to reward yourself with some cute opposites…well of course if you choose to play it that way.

You may choose that your heir be either the sunny sim or the grumpy sim.

Sunny Sim MUST have the Cheerful trait and the Grumpy Sim MUST have the Gloomy trait. The other traits are up to you.

The couple MUST go on AT LEAST 5 successful dates before becoming official (warming up to each other)

Gen 3: Forced Proximity

What’s a good love story without tension? Not all love stories are “love at first sight”. Some take time to blossom…some take forced time to forcefully blossom.

This one is fairly straight forward and up to you.

Get your sims in a predicament where they are forced to spend a lot of time together (whether that be working together, living together…imprisoned together)

Use your cupid ways and get them to fall in love

***Suggestion: fuel that heat: give them opposite traits to increase tension (i.e hot-headed x cheerful, etc.)

Gen 4: Best Friends Sibling

Love in familiarity…your best friend's familiarity. Finding love where you least expected it.

Grow up with a childhood friend that has AT LEAST one sibling.

Don’t show any interest in the sibling until YOUNG ADULTHOOD

Have a small falling out with your best friend after they find out about your relationship.

Reconcile with your best friend before you get married.

Gen 5: Fake Relationship

A lot like “Forced Proximity”...except the love stuff has to happen A LOT quicker…whether it’s real or not…and then it DOES become real.

Another one that is pretty straight forward, but leaves you with room for originality.

Come up with a scenario where your sims need to be in a marriage for any other reason than love.

DO NOT show romantic interest until AFTER marriage.

Gen 6: Forbidden Love

The only story without a happy ending. An eternal affair.

Get married straight out of highschool (you can love this person, but they are NOT your soulmate and you know that deep down)

Begin an affair with your true love

For obvious reasons you CAN NOT end up with your true love.

You may choose to come clean or keep it a secret.

You may choose to divorce your initial spouse, but you CAN NOT marry your true love, it’s forbidden after all.

Have your true love be the other parent of Gen 7

Gen 7: Marriage Pact/Arranged Marriage

Having everything figured out early on, maybe even planned for you.

This one can go one of two ways

Marriage Pact: You’ve made the plan for your future

Arranged Marriage: Someone else has made the plan for your future.

You already have your life planned out from a very young age so you just follow the plan.

Get married out of convenience/planning as a young adult.

You can choose if this turns romantic or not as the years go by.

Have one child (adopted or biological)

Gen 8: Runaway Partner

You can’t always get it right on the first try. Maybe what you’re looking for has been right there all along.

Get engaged to someone you think you love

Leave them at the altar (in game interaction)

Run into the arms of someone close that you never thought you’d have been interested in before.

NEVER get married: the idea of marriage has been ruined for you. (You may stay romantically involved with the one you run to, just no marriage)

Gen 9: Bodyguard

The one that’s been there for you all along. When did caring for you become a want instead of a job?

You may choose to have your sim be the bodyguard or even the bodyguarded.

Have a big story beat where one of them gets injured and one/or both realize their feelings.

Once the feelings are confessed, the bodyguard MUST quit their job.

You can choose when / if they end up together, but as for previous rules, they MUST parent the next gen together.

Gen 10: High School Sweethearts

The sweetest and most common one in all of sims-storytelling…unless you don’t want it to be.

While in high school, find your soulmate and begin to date them.

Here you can decide if you want a cute ending or a dramatic one:

HAPPY: You marry that sim soon after high school and you live your fairytale ending together raising your family, maybe preparing for a new legacy challenge

DRAMATIC: Have them split up after high school but they find their ways back to each other later on and marry each other later

I'm never around for the drama that unfolds bts since i don't hang around in the fandom much. so these are my (mostly) unbiased opinions lol

when i see comments saying cps don't have chemistry in dramas i end up confused because i enjoyed their drama because of how good they were romantically lmao even if the plot is weak. but honestly im not the best judge at that because if i don't vibe with the drama, i usually say it's not my type and move on. the fact that the plot could be at fault never crosses my mind until i see others opinion [looks at hidden agenda] (im sorry HA enjoyers im glad you liked it but it wasn't my type)

probably why i was able to enjoy bbs and its our skyy 2 and thought ohmnanon had strong chemistry. it was only after our skyy 2 did i know about their "break up" and that was very weird to me because they seemed pretty good friends in the bts I've seen. i wasn't a fan but i did like them a lot. And then i see comments saying they did not have chemistry in our skyy 2 which always gets me cause wdym they didn't look like they were in love

another one would be jimmysea in vice versa that some seemed to think got no chemistry either which i don't agree with because while the plot was all over the place with the constant ads, i never felt like they weren't into each other. i struggled through the drama because i wanted to see them end up together cause they were cute af. saw someone say it's probably because they don't fit the uke/seme stereotype which could be it? idk. I'm not a fan of the actors but im glad they got last twilight cause they seem to be nailing their roles in it.

unpopular opinion im guessing but i thought perthchimon had romantic chemistry in dr. i won't say it's strong like others but i watched it for them so. the theme didn't remain the same after ep 2 but a cute bl is up my alley so I wasn't that disappointed lol. though they can't kiss for shit lmao but im not the one to shame them and i hope they get better at it if they have another bl. i watched nlmg after and chopper stole the show for me. i liked both of them in it too (more than the mls but it's mainly because i couldn't stand their dynamic. phuwin character being whiney and having pond character fall for him again annoyed me because it reminds me of futs and i was against them ending up together in it lmao. i just wasn't able to get into nlmg much. genuinely no offense im glad there are others who enjoy them fr)

discourses online say all these cps were too bro-like which i get why but as a fellow gay man, this does happen irl. I've had people who were shocked at the fact that my partner and i were actually dating because we act like bros lmfao. and tmi, but who cares, im often called a twink irl. anygays these three really stood out to me because i liked them a lot in their shows so yeah i had to drop an ask since prev anons were discussing this lol

I get where you’re coming from, I'm also someone who doesn't engage in fandom very assidiously although my desire to know everything about everything means I usually know what's going on regardless whether I particularly want to or not. A lot of information seems to just randomly fall into my lap!

I partly agree with people who say that the OhmNanon chemistry was somewhat diminished in Our Skyy 2 though not so dramatically that it wasn't enjoyable.

Agreed on JimmySea and Vice Versa, I don't actively hate it but most of the reason I stayed was them. Those ads truly did some damage there. Last Twilight, though, holy shit! I would now kill and die for JimmySea. I really don't know if their distance from the usual relationship roles had anything to do with their popularity - or lack thereof -, it's really not something that had occurred to me before now, so thank you for that fresh perspective!

Yeah, Dangerous Romance wasn't excellent but I've seen much much worse and while it's true there's a lot of room for improvement ("PerthChimon can't kiss for shit" got a genuine laugh out of me), they weren't completely unsalvageable.

As for PondPhuwin, Phuwin does seem to get that type of character a lot and in terms of their dynamic, it can get old fast. I will say, though, that FUTS had me laughing irl a lot so I tend to hold a little more affection for it than I do NLMG. But that's just me.

And hell yeah for that last part! The discourse that pisses me off the most about BL is when people get upset about couples in stories not conforming to their idea of what a relationship should look like. If I'm being completely honest, I think GMMTV tends to use the same dynamic more often than other production houses which I sometimes find extremely frustrating because when something new and different comes out a lot of people get upset it doesn't align to the standard GMMTV sets by virtue of being arguably the most popular producer of BL.

The thing with Jennie and Taehyung is that the latest pics may not be real but the Jeju Island ordeal seems to be likely.

- Even before that car pic was release, there were some people mentioning sightings of them together . Then the flight attendant episode. So, it’s possible there are two different things happening. Tae and Jennie may be dating and were together in Jeju Island.

- Someone decided to blow up the rumor by editing pics.

I agree that Taekook as love story is way more enticing and beautiful as all love stories that involve ‘forbidden’ and ‘us against the world’ kind of relationship. People feel good thinking they are supporting a star crossed love story and I think the appeal of Taekook has a lot to do with this.

On the other side, although Tae and Jennie are obviously cute and seems to fit the story that most people expect ‘Popular Prince meets Popular Princess’ , it is really the most predictable, cliche kind of romance that happens in this business. I don’t even understand how people talk about this rumor as ‘dating scandal’ as there is nothing scandalous about a hetero, single, equally rich and popular pair dating. If he was a bad boy, maybe it would be something more exciting but this is really the most ‘Ken and Barbie’ kind of matching that people could expect.

That being said, that is exactly what could be happening. I understand the disappointment and sense of loss people may have after believing they were supporting something for 9 years that turns out to be something else ( a very beautiful friendship). I think there is also some hurt pride, especially because other shippers will certainly use the opportunity to glee over Taekook proven wrong …. But a reminder that this would be all that it is… a wrong opinion of the kind of relationship they had.

Taehyung still will be happy, Jungkook still be happy. Maybe it would be even better to finally find out Taekook as romance doesn’t exist because it means then that there were never suffering the pain that involves a secret relationship. If Taekook was real, it means 9 years of pretending, hiding, watching other ships be pushed to hide, constant fear of being found out, maybe lies to family and friends …. If Taekook as romance was never a thing, there is some kind of relief that comes with it. Relief that they didn’t really had to go through all this.

I wish Taekook fandom prepare themselves for the real possibility that Tae and Jennie were a thing and maybe this perspective would help. Being in a gay relationship in SK for 9 years means a lot of pain for them. If Taekook romance was never there, then we must rejoice that it means that at least these obstacles also never existed for them as well.

Most important: even if not romance, Taehyung and Jungkook have one of the most beautiful and close bonds in BTS.

I do agree with a lot of what you’re saying and I think it’s a good perspective to share.  I also think the Jeju Island stuff was likely separate from the photo drama we’ve gotten recently, though to be honest I still don’t think it’s likely that Tae and Jennie were there together.

It didn’t sound like the timeline made sense for them to be there at the same time, why would they be flying on a budget airline, and I think the car photo was probably genuinely just different people who happened to look a bit like them, because honestly I don’t think either person in the car looks exactly like Tae or Jennie.

Plus, from what I understand, that photo came out because someone saw the two people in the car, took a couple photos, and then sent them to a big kpop fan account on Instagram, which shared the photo and then deleted it pretty quickly because people really thought it was Tae and Jennie but there was no proof.  I think someone just saw a couple people who they thought looked like Tae and Jennie and the photo got shared around a lot, but for me, I have doubts that it was actually them.

Beyond all of that though, I agree that there’s always the chance that Tae or JK could be dating anyone else, or no one.  Whether they’re in a romantic relationship with each other or not, they still have this same beautiful bond that we’ve all picked up on and enjoy.  If it turns out that we’re wrong about the nature of that bond, like you said, in the end it’s just an incorrect interpretation, a wrong opinion, and it’s not the end of the world.

Taehyung and Jungkook will still go on living whatever lives they have lived all along, and they’ll go on having the same beautiful relationship that we’ve seen.  I’ve actually been thinking about making a post about why I wouldn’t be bothered to find out that they’re “just” friends, to talk about a lot of these same things, because even if there’s no romance to their relationship, there’s still so much adoration and sweetness, which is lovely to see in a friendship.

Finally, while it’s true that I would never wish suffering or pain on anyone, especially because of who they fall in love with or feel attracted to, and I would be glad to know that Taehyung and Jungkook didn’t go through that sort of pain, I also can’t bring myself to say that it would be a relief to know that they were never together for that reason, because that would make me feel like I’m saying the pain of being queer isn’t worth the beauty of it, and that’s not something I can do.

Ship-bingo: Raeda? LuzxWillow?

Raeda is so good. i love everything about it. i don't read fic about them just because i pretty much exclusively read fic about Hunter because There Are Things Wrong With Me but like, every so often i keep thinking that i should. (although i do also have a somewhat particular characterization of Raine that doesn't quite gel with a lot of the fan content i see, but since i don't actually seek it out, i can't speak to whether that's a broader trend or if i'm just coincidentally seeing stuff i don't quite vibe with.)

like god. it's SO good. the friends-to-lovers-to-exes of it. the way they reconnected years after the fact in their adulthood after living such massively different lives, and they didn't even have time to actually make anything of it or see how they fit together now that they've both grown and changed so much because they were both desperately fighting against a swiftly-approaching genocide.

the way Raine was just immediately down to do a double-murder-double-suicide with Eda. i love how absolutely ruthless Raine Whispers can be, they are a stone-cold motherfucker in many respects and i absolutely adore it. if anything, between the two of them it's Eda who's the sentimental one.

i really love how their highschool flashback meetcute showed us more of Raine's goblin bastard energy and how the two of them work really well together that way. they're both very chaotic people with very strong personal convictions. i think Eda has a very like, person-based morality, where it's about the people who she cares about, while Raine has a more ideology-focused morality, where it's about The Cause and The Goal, which can cause conflict but also can lead them to balancing each other out and shoring up each other's weak points.

the impression i've gotten from what i've seen (and i want to stress that there's a ton of Raine fanworks i just have not interacted with, so i am not trying to say this is a general pattern, it's just what i've seen) is that some people tend to play up Raine's uwu soft bean quotient, the anxiety and the gentleness and the warmth, but the most fascinating core of their character to me has always been that sense of ruthlessness and willingness to get their hands extremely dirty if they think it'll accomplish their goals. and it's such an interesting contrast with Eda, who comes across as very practical but is willing to throw all of that away for the sake of people she loves.

They Mean So Much To Me. also Raine is 100% the world's best most gently, warmly ruthless brat-tamer dom, you will never convince me otherwise. ALSO that bit in the finale where they rip Eda's arm off to save her life and then collapse into her lap to die is the most romantic shit i've ever seen, thank you Dana for my rights and life.

Luz/Willow:

Willuz? Luzillow?

this is a really cute idea! i don't think i've ever like, seen anything for it, but it definitely has potential. they could have had a super cute friends-to-lovers romance arc, and i can see them working very well together.

like it would mean a lot to Willow that Luz stood up for her against her bullies, and that Luz also understands what being excluded socially feels like. loser's club! and Willow can definitely exert a bit of a grounding, more realistic influence on Luz - she's a bit calmer and more level-headed, more prone to thinking things through, and that's something she can offer Luz as a friend or girlfriend.

How did they meet? – One fine Brooklyn morning, Stefani was getting the mail. She had Rosaria at her side - Sonia and Sal were upstairs. At this moment, Iska was entering the building alongside Job and when noticing a fellow toddler, Rosaria smiled at him (displaying her lack of teeth) and shouted hi.

Who flirted with who first? –   At this moment in time, they were teenagers. Job flirted with Rosaria first and although they had already been very affectionate with one another as children, his words hit different and the way he looked at her hit different.

Rosaria felt nervous, because she could just feel that things wouldn’t be the same as when they were small kids. It didn’t mean she was upset by Job flirting with her though. She just had no idea how to handle it, especially since she had hit puberty and the world had become a strange, new place that was hard to navigate since her mother was dead.

Yet, even with all that being said, Rosaria did decide that she wanted him to flirt with her more. Her aunt Stella told her to prim her hair and wear her prettiest dresses to gain compliments from Job. However, because Job didn’t live in Bensonhurst, Rosaria’s cute looks could lead to unpredictable situations. Plenty of local boys would come on hit on Rosie, making her want to hide under a rock. 

Was it love at first sight or a slow-burn romance? – Interest at first sight for Rosaria. As young as five years old, she decided she wanted to be Job’s friend. Stefani told people that Job was her little boyfriend (because she was pushing the heteronormative agenda) so Rosie figured that they must not be friends, but lovers. Job did not love Rosaria, he only wanted to be her friend, but the next times they would meet up she would hug him tight and kiss him on the cheek telling him he was her boyfriend.

After that Rosaria was very protective and a little ‘possessive’ (in a childish way) of Job. She didn’t want him around Ben. She didn’t even want Stefani being nice to him because she viewed her own grown-ass mother as competition for Job’s affections.

Did they start dating right away or were they friends before things became romantic? – They were friends first, even though Rosaria kept saying they were boyfriend and girlfriend. They had a wedding when they were six years old. Stuffed animals, Ben, Sal, and Sonia were present. Sal and Sonia did not approve of this union. In fact, Sonia played a cruel prank on Rosie by not letting her inside the house after the ‘wedding’ because she had to go live in Job’s house now.

Job didn’t start having feelings towards Rosaria until he was a teenager. These feelings were mild and crush-like. They were mutual on Rosaria’s behalf until she was roughly fifteen and began asking herself did she just see Job as a friend? It was hard to determine on that line of romanticism and platonic feelings. 

What was their first date? – Rosaria was first asked out by Job when they were teenagers. He wanted to do something over the weekend. It was a back and forth thing of Rosie saying, “I don’t think we can” because she felt Friday, Saturday and Sunday were all days that wouldn’t fit. It was her aunt who pushed her to go out with Job on Saturday night, as long as she was home by ten p.m. She felt it was very important Rosie have an experience like this!  

They went to the movies, saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, but they had to sneak into the theater because Job forgot his money. On top of that, the show had already started by the time they got there so they had no idea what was going on. They had fun hiding from the staff though. After that, they went to get ice cream together and Rosie paid for all of it with her allowance. Things were going nice until Franco came in and said, “Rosa what the hell are you doing with this boy?!”

What are their favorite things to do on date nights? – Karaoke, dancing, going out to eat, Rosie loves to go to antique stores so she and Job can find miscellaneous things like pictures, postcards, etc. She got her favorite cat clock on one of her dates with Job.

Do they still go on dates after being together for a while? – When they’re in their 40s it’s not the same at all. Job mentions going to the place they used to go dancing, and Rosie’s like: “I can’t be seen there, they had a police raid a few years ago.” She’s not fun or spirited anymore. But before they had kids, Rosie enjoyed doing little domestic things with Job like going to the grocery store late at night, getting distracted there, and playing around.

What is their love language? – In this scenario Job’s is likely acts of service, because he goes along with the things Rosaria says. Rosaria’s is quality time.

Who kissed who first? – Job did. They were teenagers - it started off innocent at first, then he tried to slip her tongue and Rosaria reciprocated, but she was overwhelmed and anxious. It was the first time she started asking herself if she really had feelings for Job because she felt nothing. No stars, no joy, just fear.

Who started the relationship? – As adults, Job wanted to. They had been living in the same apartment building, maintaining an off/on relationship where they flirted, went out to eat, got drinks sometimes if she was stressed after work, they even made out once (and it was A LOT better than what happened when they were teens) so he got the idea that they should date. Rosaria was willing to give it a shot because she felt comfortable with Job and did enjoy being around him.

Monogamy or Polyamory? – ‘Monogamy.’ Rosaria was sleeping with Yara long before Job asked if they wanted to enter a relationship. On that note, Job (sensing something was between the two women) says its fine if Rosaria wants to fuck Yara, but Yara and Rosie don’t even have a real relationship (and Yara is also cheating on Rosie with Virginia. And she has a husband.) So, for Rosaria to have this offer, while simultaneously being aware she’s in an overall dissatisfying situation, infuriates her which causes her to lash out at Job at the entire concept of them being poly.

Are they/do they plan on getting married? – Rosaria caught the bouquet at Eve’s wedding, yet another bad omen. Job joked about how this aligned with the wedding they had at six years old, Rosaria laughed along. Ideally this is where Rosaria would cut her casual relationship with Job because she couldn’t imagine it happening. In another verse, they end up getting married and they’re both increasingly miserable with each milestone they make.

Who proposed? Was it a yes or no? – Job proposed only for Rosaria to go, “No – I mean! Not yet!!” But eventually, she says yes, the second time it’s asked a few years later.

Do they want kids? Who brought it up first? – Job wanted kids and Job brought it up first. First Sonia and Yosie had a baby. Then Sal and Eve had kids. Years went by, Sal and Eve were having more kids (Louis, at this point in time) while Job and Rosie were getting older and remaining childless. So, this is when Job was more direct about his desire to have kids and Rosaria was apprehensive.

She thought the nature of her career would make it difficult to balance motherhood. She thought pregnancy/childbirth was disgusting. She worried about having a mischievous son that Sal would taint, but she also listened to Job’s positive ideas about parenting and gave in.

Needless to say, Rosaria had postpartum depression after giving birth to twins, found it difficult to balance her career and bond with her babies, and really regretted having them.

Do they already have kids, together or from previous relationships? – They have twin daughters, Esther and Eila in an au where they’re married. But outside of that, Job has Jeb (Jedediah) in one verse and Rosaria adores that baby. She doesn’t know if she’s cut out to be a stand-in maternal figure or an aunt-figure though. In another verse, Rosaria would have a baby with Tariq who is named Parisa. And if Parisa exists Rosaria would be fine with them playing together.

Do they have any routines/rituals in their relationship? – As adults, when they lived in the same apartment building and did not date, Job would knock on her door asking if she wanted to go out to eat. He probably noticed that she ordered a lot of takeout late at night. If Rosaria was upset about something, she would knock at Job’s door and go out for drinks so she could vent about her boss or co-workers. These rituals diminish once they’re in a romantic relationship for whatever reason. By then Job is just making sure Rosie eats and doesn’t overwork herself.

How do they take care of each other when they are sick/hurt? – Rosaria gets worried and a little scared when Job is sick. She’s anxious, but present. One time at 3 a.m. he had a high fever and she placed a wet towel on his forehead. She would change it repeatedly, making sure it stayed cool. Initially, she had no idea how to take care of him when he was hungover but learned how to pull his hair back. These moments were still very stressful. If Job was physically hurt, with a busted lip or something like that, Rosaria would call Sonia on the phone because she knew how to tend to wounds (due to taking care of Franco.)

Job makes sure Rosie takes her medicine, stops working if she has a visible headache, tucks her in because she gets chilly. Makes her soup. He also makes sure that her cat, Briscola, doesn’t harass her at night by playing with him or feeding him.

What are their favorite non-sexual forms of intimacy? – Rosaria likes cooking with Job because it makes her think about how when she was a little girl, she would stand in the kitchen with her mom or siblings and help them. She was always told by Sonia that she wasn’t a very good cook, or that she didn’t know how to cut things right, and Job has never criticized her like that. Rosaria really loves going antique shopping with Job (something he also enjoys), because not only are they finding new things, but she likes to infodump on him about certain books she finds, or what year a weird postcard was made in and she thinks Job listens to her when she rambles like that, and it makes her feel good.

What are some of their favorite things about their partner? – Rosaria loves how Job is an easy person to talk to. In one way or another, she faces difficulties talking and expressing herself to people but Job isn’t one of them. She likes that he’s funny, sweet, and thoughtful towards others. While Rosaria loves Sal and never shunned her brother for the type of person he is, she really finds the fact Job isn’t a toxic hypermasculine guy to be refreshing. Like, she can vent to him about a guy who gets on her nerves at work, and he’s not going to say he’s going to slash the guy’s tires. Meanwhile, Job loved Rosaria’s optimism. (of course this diminishes as Rosaria gets older and jaded) in her youth, she has strong values and morals that he respects. Although she’s Catholic and he’s Jewish, Job appreciated how she believes in God. Plus, in the verse where they’re married, Rosaria participates in Jewish holidays and (sometimes) goes to temple if work allows it. She makes a bigger effort to go to temple when they have their daughters, because she wants them to take their religion seriously and not view it as something dismissible or, worthy of acknowledging when it comes to Hanukkah. Later, she even converts to Judaism which I’m sure he appreciates.

How do they comfort the other when they are upset? – They’ll hug, they’ll drink and they talk about what’s bothering them. But it’s worthy to note that Rosie and Job get upset in different ways. Job is sorrowful and Rosie gets wrathful and obsessive about a topic. They’re both soothed in similar ways though.

Who buys the other spontaneous gifts? – When they’re young adults, I feel that they both do this. Rosaria will immediately buy something that makes her think of Job because she found it when browsing through things at a small shop. She knows it could be gone tomorrow so she needs it now! Job will do the same thing for Rosaria. When they’re older, it’s mostly Job getting Rosaria spontaneous gifts.  

What position do they sleep in? – Rosaria really likes to lay on her side of the bed, turned over. Nothing personal, shes just comfortable like that. Job wants to spoon, which she’s fine with, but she overheats from this skin to skin contact. Alternatively the cat is between them. Or on top of one of them. Or in the arms of one of them.

Do they bathe/shower together? – Not really.

Do they do anything else in the bath/shower other than wash? – They tried shower sex once and Rosaria was like, ‘oh this is terrible.’ First they tried it against the wall, Rosaria was worried about Job slipping and dropping her. Rosaria then changed the position to where he entered her from behind as she held onto the wall, but she didn’t like that either. She thinks oral sex would be the best place for a shower, but she’s worried about falling - or Job falling.  As for bath tub sex? They tried it before and Rosaria hated it because it was cramped as hell due to her bathtub being curved in a weird angle.

In the bedroom - Vanilla, a little spice, or kinky af? –  Vanilla, because its a mixture of Rosaria having a lower interest in sex than Job does and on top of that, she is forced to realize while she’s emotionally attracted to Job she isn’t sexually attracted to him. What is their favorite sex position? – When it comes to penetrative sex, Rosaria prefers missionary. Second to that is laying on her back or sitting in a chair as Job gives her oral sex. Even though Rosaria does yoga as a hobby, positions where her legs are on top of a man's shoulders or even sitting on their face has her feeling uncomfortable. With that being said if her leg lightly wraps around Job, it shows she really likes what’s going on.

Have they ever broken up? – Yes, as teenagers they were forced to break up because Rosaria’s uncle was antisemitic and said that her relationship with Job was ‘impossible.’ That hurt her feelings, but she had no choice but to listen because he was inclined to physically harm her for not listening. As adults, Rosaria and Job both want a divorce because they can hardly have a conversation without rude retorts, she won’t sleep with him anymore, and she hates that he won’t assimilate into the middle class with his fashion or hair. Basically, Rosaria felt that Job’s demeanor and aesthetics reflected poorly on her, and her public appearance was already important as a woman in a male-dominated field.

Messy breakup, amicable split, remain friends, ride or die or til death do us part? – The divorce was a bit messy, but the custody battle that came to be when Job got with Vernon was absolutely horrific. In this situation, Rosaria disapproved of Job’s relationship with VFK. She heard stories from her brother of how messy and ridiculous he was on the radio and the many, many ways VFK pissed him off. She in no way wanted journalists to learn her ex-husband was now romantically involved with a man like this, because it would reflect back on her. She didn’t want her daughters to meet him. And if that bothered Job, she wanted him to find a more appropriate partner who carried himself with respectability. This led to the worst argument where Job spoke of how VFK treated him good, and how Rosaria was always a heartless bitch to him. Rosaria took this very personally, because she remembers how close they used to be. She smacked him, he got mad, she left the house to spend the night with Sal and Eve. With a lot of hate and resentment in her heart, Rosaria wanted either VFK to go to jail on false charges - Sal refused to help her out with this because he’s a business partner - her second, alternative desire was for Job to be assassinated - Sal doesn’t want to deal with that either. So, Rosaria wanted primary custody of their kids to hit him where it hurts. Things never subside on her end. They don’t even remain friends when Job calms down and tries speaking with her again because Rosaria is holding a Aries-Level Grudge.

Oh boy! *rubs hands together*

Miles:

Personality wise he is very peppy and cheerful. He also easily worries about people, especially kids and teens.

He was born and raised in Ryme city. His parents divorced when he was little and hasn't heard from him until he was 18 when he heard his father passed away, that's also how he learned that he had 3 younger siblings. They had no other family but him so he decided to become their guardian. He decided that becoming champion and moving somewhere else for a fresh start would be the best for them.

His team:

Miles went through a lot of redesigns and personality changes until I settled with how he is now.

He uses pretty much only pokemon that are pink. His trainer class is pink enthusiast and his favorite color is pink as well!

His design:

I wanted him to look as cute and simple as possible. So I kinda came up with that.

His second design will make happen later.

Anthony barely speaks and people think he's mysterious and cool because of it when really it's because he's nervous he'll mess his sentence up. He is what he considers a perfect mix and laid back and serious. Getting badmouthed doesn't really bother him at all, but he does tend to snap at people talking bad about those he cares about. Anthony is often seen as violent due to his looks and sometimes death glare but really he isn't, it doesn't also help his case took self defense classes and used it to knock out a guy that was bother a friend of his once.

He was born in Oblivia and lived there his whole life, but during his childhood he would often travel with his father to reborn. His father was following some sort of religion there, he didn't know why or what he was doing or why he had to join in sometimes but he made some friends named Taka, Lukah, Ace and some others there so he didn't mind. One day he stopped going together with his father, the only reason he was told why is because his mother didn't want them to go there anymore. Years later, his father asked if he remembered the times he went to reborn, when Anthony confirmed he did his father asked him to travel there. He didn't ask him to join them again. just to see how they were doing, he insisted joining the league that was happening there. So he went.

When he was younger Taka and the others would tease him for being really weak when he insisted he was strong, so when he got older he worked out a lot and got buff.

He prefers normal and fairy types. Normal because he really liked El as a kid and kinda took that over, fairy because he just likes them. However he doesn't JUST use those types, he'll use any he thinks is strong and cool. They're all also shiny for no other reason then I think it fits them.

His design:

He only had one redesign but it wasn't to major.

His outfit is very Arceus inspired in both his outfits. The back of his jackets have also an Arceus logo on it. In his second design he wears his father's old jacket.

He really loves jumpsuits, it's most of his wardrobe.

Thoughts on Ed and Stede’s new looks?

...Ed. Ed, no. You look like a Hot Topic mallgoth.

I was, I will admit, very here for wrapping-gown-and-stubble Ed, but the new look is just...I will give the designers credit, it takes a lot of work to make what is essentially the Blackbeard look with added full gloves and emo makeup this unsexy, when the original gave me gender envy for a gender I don't even usually identify as, but they managed it.

As for Stede...I mean, objectively, it's pretty hot. I am very here for Stede's new look...at least as a temporary thing. Like, the pirate-romance-novel cover look of tight trousers, bucket-topped boots and a loose shirt that laces all the way down? I can go for that. That cute little sash around the waist is a nice detail as well. But...yeah, not feeling it as a permanent thing. Stede is, by his own admission, kind of a clotheshorse. I suspect his final look will be a lot more elaborate, but in a cobbled-together sort of way - thrift store chic, except...stolen property.

In short - while they are at opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of how much I like them, I feel like both of these new looks are going to be temporary, even if neither of them is likely to go back to the way they first appeared.

Black Pete. I'm sorry, 'I had no idea there was even piracy happening'? I nearly killed myself laughing. Although Ed's lazy, almost-friendly 'yeah, I killed the bastard. Enjoyed it, too' in the sort of tone most people would use to tell someone that outfit just wasn't working for them also really, really worked for me, and I go back to rewatch that scene with embarrassing regularity.

Did Ed really plan to murder Stede when he told Izzy the plan?

Honestly? The longer I sit with it, the more I think that...yes, yes he did. If nothing else, I'm not sure Ed would've been this easily peer-pressured into making an attempt in episode six if it was something he had firmly decided against? Like, when Ed is set on something and in a stable frame of mind, he's usually pretty good at overruling Izzy - we see it with the order to go and find Stede in episode three, as well as a lot of his handling of Izzy in episode four. His two notable failures at Izzy-management - the duel and the confrontation that leads to his Kraken turn - both happen when Ed is in an understandably fraught state of mind, either fresh off a PTSD attack or heartbroken and vulnerable.

He’s putting on a show with Izzy here of being a lot more blasé about it than he really is, but I suspect this was a genuine plan. I also think that he was relying on the element of time it would give him. Because- He likes Stede already. He enjoys his company. And because,  the thing is, how long would it take to learn everything he'd need to pass for a gentleman broadly and Stede more specifically? A lot longer than the two weeks Izzy gives them before he pitches a fit. It might take months to learn everything. Months of enjoying Stede’s company until the novelty begins to pall or Stede gets tired of him, and then Ed can enact the plan and move on with his life. It’s a very ugly plan, but for a man who’s lived his whole life in this culture where pirates don’t have actual friends and everyone is just in various stages of fucking each other over...it makes sense.

I’m pretty sure, however, that he almost immediately started procrastinating on the things that would make the plan work.  He's trying to learn the etiquette stuff, sure...but not for very long, as Stede claims it's only been 'a few days' between their meeting and the French party, and after that party it never comes up again in a classroom context - Stede introduces Ed to really good brandy and treasure-hunting expeditions, sure, but in the context of just...two good friends enjoying something together as they slowly fall in love.  And he's not really trying to learn the things that would make passing as Stede specifically more plausible, such as biographical details, which he could easily pass off as just wanting to get to know his new friend a bit better. And that's without getting into the fact that...yeah, passing himself off as Stede was only going to work if he was planning to do it somewhere that nobody had ever met Stede, because...I feel like people would have noticed if 'Stede' came back from the sea a couple of inches taller, heavily tattooed and suddenly Maori. Just a suspicion.

But that is itself workable - Ed already has a fortune, he just needs the respectable name and appearance to make it legitimate socially, he says as much when the French captain insults him. And it’s the 1700s, so so long as he doesn’t settle on Barbados, he’s fine to be ‘Stede Bonnet, wealthy Barbadian landowner’ anywhere else in the world. He also needs a corpse to deter any attempts to find him in his retirement, and for that, he needs a reliable lackey to do the killing for him - not necessarily Izzy, we see Fang killing for him in episode five, but I’m pretty sure Ed wasn’t planning on breaking his duck on the no-direct-killing thing until Stede started meaning more to him than he could fob off on anyone else. 

I do suspect that he hadn't thought the plan through, because...well, see the above issues with making identity theft work. I also think that...on some level, he wasn't offering the captaincy as a sop to get Izzy to go along with the plan. He was offering killing Stede as a sop to get Izzy to accept the captaincy without pitching a fit about Ed retiring and leaving the pirate life. Yes, Izzy wants the captaincy. He’s absolutely gleeful as ‘Captain Hands’ in episode nine, and he’s clearly excited by the idea in this scene. But...being Captain Hands off on his own is...maybe not quite as glamorous as being second to Blackbeard. Caribbean’s full of pirate captains who just use their actual names, but there’s only one Blackbeard, and that reputation is a big part of what lets Izzy swagger around the place like he does at Spanish Jackie’s, because Jackie is the biggest badass on Nassau, but even she doesn’t want to fuck with Blackbeard. And, while Izzy may not be aware that he cannot hack it in command on his own, Ed clearly knows - that little 'sounds stressful, Izzy', he absolutely knows that Izzy's bluster about how he does all the work is just that - bluster. At least, when he's feeling confident and on top of his game he can see that. When he isn't, is when he tends to fall into the trap of believing Izzy's relentless self-promotion. Izzy has also made no secret of his desire to kill Stede Bonnet. I do wonder if that’s part of why Ed keeps him around at first mate - basically competent enough to do that job, but if he ever tried to lead a mutiny against Ed, his management style would run it straight into a wall. On the other hand, if that were so, Ed promising Izzy the captaincy takes on a rather darker tone, if Ed knows he won’t be able to keep it long.

What HC do you yave regarding your favourite characters and your OC (btw Quetzal is cute 🥰!)?

Yeeeeessss, the first REAL Request, hehehe xD

Alright, I got a TON of headcanons for them, but I won't show them in order (because I don't have one), so please forgive me the mess. Also I won't do all of them, because that would be a bit much, considering that I don't want to give you five headcanons each, nah, I wanna give you a full list, hehe.

Soooo, Li Ling, Raven, Quetzal, that's what I got so far ^^

Li Ling

-Because of the changes in the official artwork for him, I think that he has some sort of battle vision. When he rests and is calm, his eyes can retain the white, but when he gets angry or is in a fight, it turns to black. That allows him to anticipate an opponents movements.

-He sometimes makes fun of Drew, walking like the mummies in old movies do and this typical egyptian walk, just because he hates Drew's serious attitude. He respects his powers, and if he was in need of advice, he wouldn't be too proud to ask Drew. He just doesn't like people with etiquette since he himself grew up quite privileged and he tries to hide that. (Most of the time)

-Also Raven always scolds him for making fun of Drew. Raven scolds him for almost everything he does, so that's no surprise.

-Li Ling likes beer. He once tried it after his norse collegues had one in the evening and at first it wasn't really something he'd call enjoyable, but after trying several types, he discovered this one brand, that he really really likes. So now he demands to get one of those every time they get together after a hard day of work.

-He subconsciously developed a very weird sleeping position to avoid laying on his arms. After Brynn asked him about it, he thought to much about it and since then he can't figure out how to sleep anymore. He had to get Celine to sing some songs to him, so that he could actually get some sleep again.

-He can be extremely scary with his dark eyes and he knows it. Although he'd never use it on a child, because secretly he enjoys their company. He'd never tell anyone that he likes kids, that doesn't fit into his "Bad Boy Image".

-His hair is actually pretty soft and he takes good care of it. Raven likes to play with it when they are together in the elevator or at a meeting. Not that Li Ling approves of that, but he doesn't want to get that typical mom look from her.

-By now, he secretly accepts Raven as his mentor-mom and it happened more than once, that he talked to her and called her mom instead of Raven. But, like, the entire conversation. And she proudly accepted that.

-It's surprising, but he meditates a lot.

-He has parent issues. Big ones. He got whatever he wanted from them except time, the most important thing, so now he may be independent, but he longs for some sort of parential comfort, to which Raven is the closest.

-Li Ling has this weird habit where he makes noises when he's experiencing a little bit of joy and fun. If you tell him a good joke, he'll do a little huff instead of laughing. If he sees Lewis trip and fall down the stairs, he makes this awkward giggle sound. You can rarely hear him laugh out loud, but once people get used to his 'joy-language', it's fine.

-I think he doesn't really care about romance, although he'd be supportive, if one of his friends got a partner. He's the type to mind his own business and not be bothered by flirts towards him. And if others are in a relationship, he's like "cool" and let's them be. He'd only mock Lewis or Xuan sometimes, if they ever get a partner/partners, but that's just teasing amongst friends.

-He has fangs. And he hisses, when something isn't going the way he wants it. Also he growls, when he's very angry, especially in a fight, brings out his wild fighting nature. Raven even calls him "Rottie" from time to time.

Raven

-She's such a mechanic. Always trying to make her bike a bit better, always trying to get a better WiFi connection in the HQ... She can fix anything, and if she can't, then she'll be damned if she doesn't figure it out as fast as she can.

-Raven can't sleep without music, she's always listening to something, although it's not loud at all. Knowing subconsiously, that there's some kind of melody makes her feel calm and relaxed. Li Ling started to pick up that habit as well, but instead of listening to rain sounds or old folk songs, he listens to metal before going to bed. Yes.

-She hates people, who disobey orders, so at first she really wanted to throw some punches with Li Ling, but after realizing, that he wanted to but just didn't know how, she decided to take him under her wing and teach him all the stuff, he needed to know. Starting with an easy training program for puppies. "You do this, then you get this." Thus, the 80 rules of Raven were established and Li Ling learned to behave. Most of the time.

-Her favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla and Raven loves the scent as well, so she has a jar of vanilla beans in her room. So if she wants to relax a bit, she takes some of them and lits them up or blends them into a shake etc.

-Her clothes are all made with a certain velvety fabric underneath because she likes the comfy feeling. Also her bed is covered in those.

-She smokes pipe. Fight me on this, but she loves the old style and her dad did it, so to keep her memory of him, she picked something up, that he always did. And it can't really hurt her anymore, so no health risk as well. (And everybody laughed at her until they found out the reason, then they just gave her awkward stares)

-In general, she likes old clothes and habits. At first, people make fun of her, but after a while, she just rocks this style so much, that it's becoming one with her and then everybody just stares at her, not knowing how she does this.

-Raven is that type of person, who works a whole day and nobody would expect her to be able to just sit and stare at the wall. But if nobody reminds her to breathe, she'd probably even forget that once she starts staring at somebody or a wall.

Quetzal

(am thinking about calling him Aarón to be honest, means 'Great fighter' or 'The enlightened One')

-He's a funky guy, always up for a party or just a good time in general. So he makes stupid jokes the whole day, so many, that it starts to annoy people by the middle of the day.

-Aarón loves his wings, he snuggles into them, he loves to just stroke them with his hands, you can almost always catch him playing with at least one feather.

-He's a kind, but pretty smug guy. He knows his powers and how to use them since he's been an Esper for a decade now, that gives him a huge confidence boost.

-Triki and Aarón love to pull off crazy pranks, sometimes Q comes along with them too.

-Odette has become one of his best friends, they balance each other out quite well and even though she can get very annoyed by him, he always tries to get that warm heart of hers out. Not in a romantic way, Aarón just loves to see the people's true nature.

-He grew up in Peru, wasn't the best life he lived there, but his family managed as best they could. So he knows what it's like to live on the edge and he hates it when people get spoiled and act accordingly. (*cough* Li Ling *cough*)

-An open minded guy, he uses his wings to fly across the whole globe and visit other places, different countries and, of course, to eat something from everywhere. Yeah, the guy likes food like no other. Give him a hot dog and he's your friend.

-He's no genius, but in battle he's not to be taken lightly. If he gets angry, the whole wrath of Quetzalcoatl bursts out of him. And that winged snake ate humans.

-Aarón can be quite hyperactive and appear out of nowhere, but he never misses his midday naptime. It's just one hour, but that hour is something he almost values as much as Christmas.

-Yes, Christmas. Since he's been all over the world, he picked up a lot of traditions and nice habits from other countries, but he wanted one, where almost every country had at least an equivalent to, so that he could (eat as much candy as he wanted) try to feel like a part of all of them. He even tried to fast, but then he had too little self-control to continue.

On gaeul flower thing I liked it but as you said the discomfort of subin being reminder of her being bullied was really not done well she really got over it fast as you said but beside that I really like them being in college(university? I forgot which one) hs romance is common

Overall Id say I liked the story+ the couple execpt for dongchae flower could be done so much better nd the couple wasnt really good imo maybe I was expecting too much but also I agree you on the speech part I also really loved it!

there's gonna be a sequel (author said it's light hearted than sob) I think in a year Im waiting for it

Yeah, winter season could've been better. I really thought Jaemin was out of character. He was better than that and Eunchae too. Dongchae deserves better.

Actually, i love tall girl x short boy type of ships too and of course, opposite attracts thing. The reason i couldnt root is because she and Jaemin both wanted to be together at that time, even its not romantic love, it was sad to watch them like that. I wasnt into Jaemin and Bomi, i just support people who have healthy relationship and like i said, the way she described that comfort feelings for Jaemin fits more the actual love but at the end, both of them are happy so its fine.

And i really hated what Bomi did with Jaemin, Jinyeong. If my friend did something like Bomi did, i would absolutely hated it. Girl, you didnt make things better but actually worse! And this isnt for her, its for herself. If you dont want to date your bestie's crush, tell her that for God's sake. They are lucky, it ends well though.

I didnt like Seunhui at the beginning because she looks like just rude girl for no reason but the story progress, i find her very cute and i know she has guilty for Hamin's suicide but i still think they also look good together with Jaemin and the way he was teasing her at the start, i shipped them and i dont think her relationship would actually fall apart with Bomi, if they communicated properly. Just because they have past and regrets doesnt mean they cant be together and doesnt mean its not love. Jaemin and Seunhui c/would be really cute and funny too but again, at the end, both find happiness so i am fine with this too so whatever, lol.

I think university romance is better because of maturity, the idea that you will find real love in uni is more realistic to me because at highschool, you are just trying to figure out yourself, you will most likely have crushes than love, its imature form of love. Though, its fun to explore any type of love, especially if its well written.

I heard about sequel, i wonder what will it be about.

Review: The Backup Plan by Jill Shalvis

Although I know she has been a well-known romance author for years, this was my first Jill Shalvis book. I am very grateful to the lovely Isabelle at Headline for sending me a copy dressed in its beautiful winter jacket as seen above and for giving me the opportunity to read it!

Alice is about to come into a big inheritance and it happens to be the delapidated Wild West themed B&B where she spent much of her childhood. She’s inheriting the place with two of her former friends because all three of them helped out the recently deceased owner Eleanor. Now Alice, her ex best friend Lauren and long-time crush Knox find themselves thrown together to renovate the place. They know that they’ll need to lay some rules down if they’re going to get along and survive the partnership. Little do they know that friendship, love and acceptance are all just around the corner.

As this is a romance with a forced proximity trope, I knew that the rules that they laid out would probably be broken. This predictability is something I love about rom-coms because it means they’re easy reads and my mind can pretty much relax while the story unravels. The drama is handed over to the characters and that’s exactly what happened.

Alice has dreams of following her passion for cars and opening her own mechanic shop, employing only women. Her love for cars is a hangover from her childhood when she spent many happy hours with her dad. Alice came across as very driven and stubborn, so I had no doubt that she would do whatever she set her mind to. I knew that the only thing that could possibly steer her off course would be a handsome face and a string of flirty comments.

Much of the humour comes from Lauren, the local historian and librarian. She was definitely my favourite character and I got really excited about her budding romance with local hardware store employee Ben. Lauren definitely has her secrets throughout the book and as a private person, I found her much easier to relate to than Alice. I couldn’t really understand all the reasons for her estrangement from Alice but I could tell they really cared about each other, so I was begging them to kiss and make up for the majority of the book!

A lovely little bonus was Pickle the Samoyed. I would have really appreciated some more Pickle content but I really enjoyed what I got. Any cute dog in a rom-com always needs to be amplified and Pickle fitted in perfectly with the cosy, warm vibes of the entire narrative.

The Backup Plan is a light-hearted romance with some lovely characters and some steamy sex scenes. It’s about patching up old wounds and finding where true happiness is, so if you’re looking for a very low-stakes, sweet story about friendship and found family, look no further!

i'm not particularly interested in either, but reincarnation can be fun if written well! im not opposed to character death in a one-shot, but it can be draining if part of a larger story.

god. i love arranged marriage. especially if the arranged marriage actually ends up working out well. or if it's a fucked up one that they get rescued from.

>high school romance or middle-aged romance.

high school romance can be very cute, but i much prefer reading about established working adults, or retirees <3

>time travel or isolated together.

i've actually got a time travel fic in my drafts, but i really only like time travel if the repercussions of it are fixed/mundane. i don't want time travel to actually end up permanently changing the world or story. so time travel that ends in romance in the current age is great, time travel that ends up being undone is great, but i wouldn't want time travel used as a way to fix an important canonical plot point.

anyway that said, i love characters getting locked in rooms or snowed in or or or <3

>neighbors or roommates.

roommates is good if something forces them together (cough cough, Temporary Lodgings) but i usually prefer characters to have some degree of separation to eachother. i don't find it that interesting when characters suddenly realize they're dating someone; i want a big romantic confession!!!

>sci-fi au or magic au.

i'm just not a sci-fi fan. easy-peasy. although i don't mind softer sci-fi, like Chobits

>body swap or genderbend.

genderbends are super great and fun to draw, but i don't really like reading them all that much. body swaps on the other hand.... endless potential for both comedy and smut.

>angst or crack.

crack doesn't do it for me. i don't like angst with an unhappy ending all that much, though.

>apocalyptic or mundane.

mundane, pls ): unless the apocalypse is a nice one like in Giant Spider and Me. i'd be cool with my blorbos in an apocalypse like that :D

High School AU!! Headcanons!! (The Hobbit//LOTR)

Let me just start off by saying... SOMEONE, PLEASE DO A SERIES OF THESE, BECAUSE I'M TOO LAZY-

Let's begin, shall we?? And get the boring headcanons over with!!!

In this 🌟 canonical 🌟Universe, you (Reader) attend a new School after moving a few towns over, and end up here

To kick off these headcanons, I'd prefer the Races/Species to all stay the same!!

That means YES, there ARE hobbits, elves, dwarves, etc!!!

(And you, can be whatever race you choose 👌)

I also find peoples OC's so cute!! The main characters and you are NOT the only people who attend this school, so if you have OC ideas, please share!!! 💜💜

You're also a very well known student, that everyone knows by name!!

Some of our older characters would be teachers

So, Gandalf, Bilbo, Balin, Elrond, you get the gist

Bilbo, I think, would undoubtedly be either a History teacher, or librarian at the least!!

He's got such extensive knowledge of maps and books, so the job would be perfect 💜

Celeborn and Galadriel as the principles, Gandalf runs the guidance Office and Elrond as the school Counselor 💙💙

They may also have some sparring or self-defense classes as well!!

Obviously, it's high school, so we're still going to include some of the stereotypes...

however, I'll try not to make them too adamant, because I want to get each character as close as possible!!

Clubs, Sports, and Extracurriculars are a MUST 📚

Art club, book club, agricultural sciences, FFA, all that jazz 🙌

(most of these include American classes, so lemme know if you want a class that we might not have, included!!)

Jocks would probably include some of our more "hardy" or athletically inclined people (Legolas, Gimli, Fili & Kili, Aragorn, Eomer)

Maybe some "techies" or nerds (Merry, Faramir, Lindir)

And of course the popular kids 🙄✋ (Boromir, Legolas, Nori, Eomer, Pippin)

And although we love our heroes, I feel strongly that Orcs and villains would also attend this high school

This includes Sauron!! He's the schools biggest Senior bully 🔥

And the 3 trolls, each in a different grade

Really quick, here's a tier list that I created!! The top 3 that were cut out are Balin, Dori, and Radagast, (in that order)

This one is for Clubs, Sports, and other high-school-cliches that I felt need be included

Now, I feel that some of these characters belong in more than one category, but I put them in what best seemed fit

Just imagining some of the school memories being made makes me so happy

Hi...how are you? If you don't mind me asking what are your top 5 favorite danmei novels (until now)? And why? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....

Hi, sorry for being slow at answering!

In no particular order:

Ok, so I liked the 3 from MXTX:

 - Grandmaster of Diabolic Cultivation/ Mo Dao Zu Shi 

This one I loved but it has a particular style that ppl might not like in that it feels jumpy, confusing and with information gaps while reading, even though eventually everything that matters does end up being explained...in other works this would probably be just lazy writing, but here it is clearly an intentional choice bc 1) she doesn’t do this in her other novels 2) this is in WWX’s pov and dude has heavy ptsd and adhd, plus he tends to pretend to take everything lightly as a coping mechanisms...all this put together and it’s easy to understand why the story has such an unreliable narrator that even the other characters constantly point it out. I ended up loving this extra layer of storytelling.

 - Heaven Official’s Blessings/ Tian Guan Ci Fu

If you’re in the mood for a saga type long ass novel with a ton of interesting side stories and side characters with a main character who is a true cinnamon bun in sweet romance with a side dish of sweet sweet aaaangst.

- Scum Villains Self Saving System

The most entertaining out of all of them. It manages to be a parody of two genres, both danmeis and wuia/jianghu harem het novels (fighter of destiny style) with OP leads, while also being its own cute and funny story with a heart to it.

From other authors:

 - Meatbun’s 2ha/ Dumb Husky and his White Cat Shizun 

What if someone took a look at the parody that is SVSSS and said...”no, you know what? This really deserves to be an epic, long ass, and I mean, topping old classics’ length novel packed with angst, filled with pain and topped with despair...and then we’re sprinkling some funfetti on top to fool y’all”...and you know what? that’s some good cake. (If you’re into cdramas SVSSS is to 2ha what The Romance of Tiger and Rose is to Goodbye My Princess).

- Priest’s Sha Po Lang:

Steampunk China plus creepy voodoo tribal ritual magic, involved in internal and external wars over petrol (with a different name) and with our leads in Iron Man suits, fighting, among other enemies hot young(er) hands on, on the field, western troop General, the Pope, that I can only visualize in my head as Jude Law. I tell you all of this nonsense just to say that instead of the ridiculous fun this should be, it ends up being a very compelling romance with lots of scheming and heavy plot and some heartbreaking scenes.

- The Golden Stage:

This is a court drama type novel with friends-to-rivals-to-lovers that is just the right length and compelling with not too many plot twists but two main characters who are really great both individually and together and this is the one out of all in the list I feel like re reading the most. It really is a solid read and I feel like I’m selling it short, bc it really is good. It is similar to Sha Po Lang and To Rule in a Turbulent World, a simpler version of those but not worse for it.

(Since you said top 5 and I’ve said 6, I regretfully cut down Heaven Official’s Blessing bc even though I love it, unlike MDZS or SVSSS, it didn’t feel like a standalone novel because some of the several storylines of the side characters that I loved were left open ended (although the main characters had a complete story arc), as if this book was supposed to be the first of a series and those characters would have their own spinoff books where I’d know where their story took them...except this really is a standalone, and so the lack of resolution bothers me).

- To Rule in a Turbulent World

This one doesn’t go in the top 5 list yet bc it’s not fully translated, last time I checked (tho it’s very near the end). As an ongoing novel, I adore it. If the ending isn’t terrible it might be in my top 3. It’s similar to the two above in plotlines but it has a quality to it that it takes care to make every character in it multidimensional. There are no good and bad characters, even the ones on the opposite side are given something that makes them relatable and human. Plus, the characters all change throughout the novel, most of all the protagonists and the novel gives itself breathing time between events where you just chill with the characters and learn about random things like agricultural practices. 

- The Wife Is First

This one is just that light fluff feel good one that is great to pick up from time to time since it’s on going. Dumb Jock husband did everything wrong in his first life, gets a re-do and from then on it’s adorable respect the spouse juice and awe of said spouse smarts. Cute. Also, there’s a baby pet tiger.

 -Faraway Wanderers and Lord Seventh/Qi Ye by Priest:

Qi Ye is similar to To Rule in A Turbulent World/The Golden Stage/Sha Po Lang. I really liked it still, just a tiny bit less than these. Since it’s the same author as SPL and I think it was written earlier, I have to say, the writing only got better.

Faraway Wanderers is a short read, but you’re only gonna like it if you’re ok with amoral main characters (I guess that is true for many on this list but it’s more obvious in this one bc the novel and the characters are unapologetic about it).

- YuWu by Meatbun - Still reading it, but is isn’t grabbing me like 2ha did.

 - Silent Readings by Priest:

I love crime fiction novels (love Ding Mo’s novels) and this is that type of conspiracy, murder novel with smart criminals and smart investigators. Little romance, but still there.

 - Guardian by Priest: 

Priest is hilarious and except the last part that gets a bit heavy on the lore this is just a joy to read. Also pretty short.

- Advance Bravely:

I read it a long time ago and it’s okayish, with some cute and some weird, problematic characters. 

- Addicted/ Heroin:

Also read it (this is 2 books) ages ago...and this one is NOT cute. It starts out as a pretty normal, but kind of toxic very typical oldschool drama/manga romance right down to the step brothers’ trope....and then it keeps escalating to new levels of WTF am I reading?!! All I have to say for this one is, that while I cannot recommend it per se, nor say it’s good, the title really is fitting, bc it is addictive as f.

My thoughts on Sex Education, season 3.

⚠️⚠️⚠️SPOILERS⚠️⚠️⚠️

First of all, please try to remember that this is just my opinion. I'm nobody to judge whether the season was good or bad and I don't mean to hurt anyone.

With that being said, I'd like to begin by admitting that I liked these 8 episodes overall... but there were so many things that felt wrong to me.

I loved Jean's journey during her pregnancy and the way she tried to take care of everyone at the same time (although I kind of disliked Jakob for some things he said).

I loved Aimee and her desire to heal after the assault. The way she really wants to make her voice be heard was heartwarming and inspiring to me. Plus, her friendship with Maeve is one of the most beautiful I've ever watched (about this, I'll say something later on).

I loved Viv and her ambition that slowly became less important than her peers and their rights. She really wanted them to be happy in the end. I think that she didn't really understand how bad things with Hope were until the trip to France. And she redeemed herself in a great way.

I loved Lily and her journey towards acceptance of herself, even when others thought she was weird and silly. It was empowering seeing her so confident in the end.

I loved Adam's growth. It taught that even the most simple of passions can turn into something meaningful and that, no matter how bad you are, you can change.

Above all, I loved Maeve finally getting the chance to do something amazing for herself for once.

All of these things were wonderful, truly. But so many others I didn't like and I couldn't really understand as narrative choices.

Let me begin with the one I found the most annoying: Isaac's fake redemption arc. I know what you might say: "Of course you hate it! You ship Maeve and Otis!". Well, yes, I do. But it's not all about that. I might be exaggerating... but Isaac deleting Otis' message was beyond disrespectful to me. If you remember, at the beginning of the second season, Isaac was really mean to Maeve... but he had the opportunity to redeem himself. He had the chance to say he was sorry and to be a better person to her, even though he had been around for so little time. However, when it came to Otis to have the same opportunity, he decided that he wasn't worth it. Isaac, who didn't really know Otis, took away from him the chance to at least say that he was truly sorry for being such an ass to Maeve. But, what feels even worse to me is that he took away even Maeve's possibility to decide. We don't know how it would have gone, if Maeve had listen to what Otis had to say. Maybe she would have forgiven him. Maybe she would have still chosen Isaac, because Otis hurt her too much. Who knows what might have been? No one. And why? Because Isaac decided for everyone. And I don't care if he thought he was protecting Maeve or if he was angry. It. Was. Not. His. Choice. To. Make.

Also, I didn't really understand why Maeve wasn't as mad as I was with him. Sure, she stopped talking to him for a couple of days. But the moment she started to speak with him again, they hooked up. Too fast, too soon, in my opinion. He apologised? Sure. But so did Otis. And he didn't get to be so easily forgiven.

But let's move to the another point I have a lot to say about: Otis and Ruby. I really liked them together. I found them cute and funny. But still... Ruby struggled for real to accept Otis for who he is. And Otis acted the way she wanted to keep her close. For example, he shaved off his moustache for her. Now, most of the fandom hated that moustache... but again, Otis seemed to care a great deal for it. He kept repeating that he spent months growing it. But Ruby didn't like it. And he sacrificed something he was proud of for her. But okay, a lot of people would do something like that for their loved ones. But then he had to dress like her friends to fit in. To be fair, Ruby gave up that idea pretty soon... but she just reacted to Otis refusing to do it. If I had to make a comparison between her and another love interest (not Maeve, 'cause I'd be biased), I'd choose Ola, of course. She was putting pressure on him in other ways, but she never wanted him to be any different than who he was. Love, after all, means acceptance. And perhaps Ruby loved Otis for he saw the hardest part of her life, without judging her. I wish it could have been the same for him.

About this, I've noticed many people being disappointed in Otis not saying he loved her too, because it means that he was just using her. Well... no? I mean, he was the first one to admit that, if she was willing to give him more time, he might have learned to love her. Should he have made it clear to her earlier in the relationship? Sure! Can we condemn him for not feeling the same? Absolutely not! Feelings can't be forced. And I'm also sure that he thought he was done for good with Maeve. He suffocated the love he had for her so much that the clinic made him sick and that he admitted his feelings only when pressured by Maeve herself.

In conclusion, I think that Otis and Ruby might have had a wonderful friendship, if they were only given the chance. They have that kind of chemistry.

Talking about people who are better off as friends: in my opinion, that's all Maeve and Aimee will ever be. I honestly can't see anything romantic in them. The purity of their friendship means so much to me and it's, at least for me, so different from the "Friends who are more than friends" energy. We're so lucky to have such wonderful actresses to play these characters... and what I see in their gestures and glances tells me of a great friendship. They're so different from Emily and Sue in Dickinson (they're supposed to be just friends, but they're clearly not) or even Judy and Jen in Dead To Me (another pair of friends that can be ambiguous with each other).

Moving to another couple, whose development I didn't understand: Adam and Eric. I'm not a great fan of their relationship. I like them both as individuals. But the bully-victim dynamic they used to have wasn't the best one to start a relationship with. I could see the appeal though. So much that, I was truly happy for them, when they said their first I love you's. And every step Adam made in the right direction made me smile, since that it took him a long time to grow up. Eric seemed happy with him too. Until he went to Nigeria. I sincerely loved the whole trip... but something felt wrong in him founding what he truly wanted there, where he couldn't even tell his family he had a boyfriend. The scene in the taxi gave me chills. I felt the risk he was taking by going with a stranger to a gay club. A stranger that he kissed almost out of nowhere (whether it was the heat of the moment or Adam not replying to him, I'm not sure). It's the second time he cheats on his boyfriend. And I think Eric deserves far better as a character.

My question about this whole drama is: "How come Eric found out that he wanted to be free in Nigeria and not in England?". If it's true that going to the club made him realise he wanted to be among people like him, it makes the whole situation even more absurd. Because there are plenty of gay bars and clubs in England. Why not go to one of them? My theory is that they wanted to build a good romance with Adam, then build tension between them and in us and end the whole thing with their breakup (probably to make Adam fall in love with Rahim).

I swear I'm almost done. I want to discuss one last topic with you all.

Maeve going to America like that felt so rushed. It's probably another strategy to make us want to see more of the show. And it surely worked. But still, it has, at least for how they developed it, nothing to do with Maeve maturing. The idea itself was amazing. I loved her getting the opportunity of a lifetime. But she literally decides to go the evening before (which is not even realistic. In real life, you have a deadline until which you can pay to go wherever you want. If you don't, your place is given to someone else), after getting the money from her mother. Now, where does that money come from? She might as well have stolen it, since she didn't have it before. In my opinion, this part of the story could have gone differently with little effort and the same outcome. How? Well, since that basically everyone thought she deserved to go to America, why couldn't have her classmates and teachers organised a fundraiser? Even in secret, so that she couldn't get angry for their "charity". It would have been so much better and so wholesome to see everyone in that school give a little sum for her, even to thank her for the help they got from the clinic.

Anyway, I'm so sorry for talking so much, but this season didn't go as expected and I truly needed to vent :P.
