Kid has always been loud. Whenever he's angry, he needs to shoot at someone. What can he say? His heart is filled with emotions, boiling and exploding like a thousand sparks. That's why you're a mystery. Always calm. Not letting others know what's on your mind. What makes you so quiet? He can't tell.

Just like the moon and the sun, you are polar opposites. And yet, as the sun always chases the moon, he's always looking after you. And he's everything, but not discreet. Asking loudly for almost all of his crew what they think about you and why you are so reserved.

Sure, he's used to introverted folks. Killer is one of them. But here's the difference: he can second-guess every word, thought, and breath of his best friend. He could probably achieve all of his sentences. And even through the mask, Kid could also guess the exact expression on Killer's face.

Killer, who is likely aware that Kid has a small crush on you.

Kid is genuinely frustrated. Loudly frustrated, obviously. He needs to feel in control of everything and hates when he doesn’t have a full-understanding. Usually, he fails to notice reserved people because he's taking all the attention. But there's something about you: your slight smiles, the flash in your eyes, the way you're always listening to others but never talk about yourself. He can't tell why, but it keeps his mind alert.

Perhaps you pose a bit of a challenge. Kid would never give two flying fucks about you if you were easy to see through. He's always looking after you because you're still a mystery. Sure, at the beginning, it was just to try to figure out who you really are. But now, it turned into something bigger. He hasn't noticed it yet, that’s all. Kid sucks with feelings. Feelings are actually something he hates because they make him feel weak. It puts his loved one in danger. Showing your weaknesses to enemies is a foolish move, Kid knows that perfectly.

However, everything is about to change. He decided to stop on that island for the day. For the first time, you asked to avoid robbery or harming anyone around.

"Ugh, we're pirates, y/n" Kid doesn't want to look like a nice guy. He's a tough, rude pirate. He has a reputation to uphold. For him, the only good way to open a path is by violent means. Kindness? For what? If he's still alive today, it's because he toughened up and decided to never show mercy to anyone.

"Fine, fine, I won't kill those people." Heavy sighs. But he wants to understand. He needs to understand. And finally, he's about to understand.

Because suddenly, you're smiling heartily and running towards those scumbag strangers. What. The. Fuck. It's like seeing the sun after an eternity of blizzards and grey clouds. You're a bright light, a true sunshine. A burst of joy. You're joking, laughing, talking, and talking a lot. You never said more than two sentences in front of him, and now you're chatting endlessly with those strangers and hugging all of them.

He's pissed off. Are those random people with terrible sense of style and ugly make-up better than him? The great Eustass "Captain" Kid? No way.

"Guys, here's my captain, Kid. Kid, here are my childhood best friends."

Kid's face is a mess of angry scowls and boiling with frustration when they say hello. Why aren't you smiling as warmly when you're with him? Why is his heart pounding so hard, almost painfully in his chest? And damn, is it the cold or are his cheeks completely red?

Poor Kid is both flushed and flustered. His first reflex is always exploding when he feels something. "Do you have a problem with me?" Barking through gritted teeth.

He's ruining the happy-shitty mood and he doesn't care.

So now, try to explain that you don't have a problem with him. Good luck, he's very stubborn. But once he's more or less calmed (because he's still pissed off), he still can't understand why his heart is racing at the sight of your soft, warm smile.

He wants to see that side of you more often. He wants to be part of those privileged people allowed to know the real you.

a/n: I never know what to do with titles!!! ugh. anyway, I’m not responsible for this, it just happened... he’s so sweet and I love him. no warnings, no explicit content, just fluff!

you both needed to exchange about 3 sentences altogether to start falling for each other

he looks at you and talks about you as if you put all the stars in the sky

so many loving looks you don’t notice when you’re focused on something

you make sure to remind him that he can share all the burdens with you, even though he really doesn’t want to trouble you with anything

but both of you end up sharing everything and anything with each other

Elrond would LOVE to pick up meaningful little gifts for you, or anything that reminded him of you (also think of how Durin got the new table for Disa - this Elf would have no problem charming anyone to get something that you wanted)

you really love to be physically close, even if it’s just having linked arms or legs touching under the table (he cannot let you slip away, ever)

whenever that is possible, you’d love to accompany him on any kind of journey

simultaneously he likes it, because he really hates to be away from you, but also he finds it stressful, because what if something happens?

(but a small part of him also enjoys subtly showing you off in a way, like, hey, look, THAT is my beloved!!!)

Elrond knows you’re capable of protecting yourself, and strong and fierce, but he still has a strong desire to protect you - too many important figures had disappeared from his life already

sometimes you would have small arguments about his protectiveness, but sometimes you would let him do it

besides that, you’d never argue about anything else, really

except talking about every topic imaginable, being in silence together is also enjoyable, if you’re reading something, or just taking a stroll

on those days when he is extra busy, he would move mountains just to spend a bit of free time with you - it brings so much joy and peace

sometimes there’s a lot on his mind, so he can be a tiny bit forgetful, but you look out for him extra carefully on those days (remind him to go stretch out and get some air, maybe drink something, just take a small break)

in those moments, he feels like the happiest, most loved being in the whole Middle-earth

not just in those moments, in all moments

you make him so happy, he’s just glowing constantly, and he makes you just as happy

you can read him really well, even if he doesn’t talk about something

he wants to be unbelievably affectionate towards you, but is still super respectful and so many times he will ask if it’s alright to kiss you or something like that

even if you’ve seen each other 10 times in one day, Elrond is still absolutely elated every time he sees you

every. time.

being apart is almost unbearable, so you really try to avoid that, but the reunions after time away are so happy and full of love and you just run towards him without a care in the world and give him the tightest of all hugs

Elrond is so amazed by your beauty that sometimes he forgets what he was going to say to you... so he often writes you little poems, notes, or letters when he feels like it

you save every single one and treasure them so much

he likes to come up from behind you, nuzzle his face in your neck and give you little kisses or just breathe in your scent

you have a very calming effect on him, feels like home, and he almost melts at even the smallest show of affection

learning things together, for example about constellations, plants, history...

first and foremost, you’re each other’s dearest friends, and then lovers

STRANGER THINGS BOYS WITH AN AFFECTIONATE LOVER !

Authors Note: I was feeling so motivated to write some soft stranger boys — ugh, love them. This is rather long btw.

He loves hugging you so much, he is basically as affectionate as you.

Oh my goodness, how did he get so freaking lucky !? Eddie was sure most of the town hated his guts and club, especially the ladies in his place.

He never really had any romantic relationships. Not even when he was a little brat .. well — he didn’t count his week old girlfriend to be much of a romantic relationship at all. They never even held hands because the girl didn’t want to be seen with him. Well — no chick from Hawkins wanted to be close to him — especially the older he got. Most likely because of his dnd group, band and himself in general. They said that he was too lame be with — and could ruin their reputation if they were even seen with him.

But then, there you came in. The man thought you were gonna react towards him like every single gal he met when the Teacher put you as his partner for a Project — but he was so wrong. Eddie instantly fell in love with you as soon as you spoke to him with that warm voice of yours, with genuinely kind words. Looking at him with those gentle and understanding eyes.

And so — you both became friends by Eddie instantly going in for it and asking you to be his friend, of course you accepted his friendship despite the knowledge of who Eddie was and what he did. You are so lovely, so kind, so smiley, so outspoken — so, so — beautiful.

Of course, it wasn’t long after that he asked you out. For some reason — and with great luck for him — You said yes to dating him !? Big shocker to him, I know.

When you guys started dating — it was a little awkward since the poor guy didn’t exactly have experience with relationships. But Eddie quickly found out that you were a very affectionate type of lover and weren’t afraid to shower him with love. Phew.

You loved to be close to him, hold his hand, snuggle up to his chest, kiss his everything — chest, shoulders, head, arms. You spewed word of likeness towards him and later your love for him. You enjoyed seeing him stutter and flush up with embarrassment as well as happiness when you praised him, complimented him, and shamelessly loved him.

And what did he think about that ? Of course he loved this so much ! He soon started to shower you with so much affection once he got used to all the touchy smoochy stuff. He was so touch starved — after all, he lived with his uncle and the only physical love he could get from him was quick hugs and pats, not that he is complaining of course.

Overall, Eddie Munson enjoyed giving out the same vibe as you. The same amount of affection to you. And he will flip off anyone who so much as calls you clingy and shit because there’s no problem with you giving him so much love like this. They are just jealous.

Well, once upon a time in his life he did … until his mother left him in the hands of his father, then all he knew was pain and anger. After that, any type of affection he knew and got was — well, nothing actually. He just got violence and sexual intercourse with no strings attached.

So when you came with all the happy dabby bullshit of affection — he avoided you. Glared at you, scoffed at you, even insulted you a few times — and maybe it was because he was jealous with how easy going you were, or at how easy it was for you to smile genuinely and even show affection towards your friends like it was easy — but he didn’t like you at all at first.

Not until you came up at him and confronted him after a jab he gave at you towards your friends — though your voice was kind of shaky and eyes trembled at the action of confronting him. He clicked his tongue at you and ignored you after that. He doesn’t know why he was so … jealous of you — jealous of your friends. He really doesn’t. And that pissed him off so badly.

But then, the truth became exposed to him. He liked you. Like — actually romantically likes you. And at first he avoided you despite having some classes together. Observed you from afar to watch your smiles and laughters — though, it got his jealousy going up. He didn’t really do much but push you away, afraid of his own feelings for you. But that didn’t last long. Especially with how determined you were despite not being the confrontational type. Instead, you befriended him — somehow, someway. And being friends with him was never bad. You got closer to him, gave him space when he needed it, never took advantage of his vulnerability and comforted him when he started letting you to.

You being his emotional, loving support was basically you signing to be with him forever. Billy was fucked up in the head if he ever thought he’d let go of you. He didn’t. And it took quite a bit for you guys to even get together. In fact, it took a whole semester and summer for Billy to ask you to go out with him. He just wanted to be sure you were really in it for him and he wanted assure you that he was slowly changing for you — he never told you that though.

And now, you guys are together. And sure, Billy was still quite rough around the edges. Always backing you up, helping you, protecting you from everything and everyone in this cruel world and shitty town. You helped him get rid of his abuser, or his father — not in that evilish kind of way, though you won’t say you’ve never thought of doing it with how long he’d abused Billy.

The thing that still had Billy shifting on his feet was how affectionate you were. How loving and appreciative of his you are. Billy has never been in this type of relationship before — never been in one really since it was all just booty calls and shit. But with you — it’s serious. And you showed it to him. You loved him. You caressed his face with your hands and whispered to him your devotion and love. It was all so uncomfortable for him at first but he slowly got used to it — not really but still.

Honestly, Billy thought you wanted to fuck the first time you hugged him, cuddled him — kissed him so tenderly that it hurt his heart from how much it was pounding. But you showed him that you didn’t. You started to show him intimate love that didn’t have sex in it. You — you cried honestly — you cried a little when he pressed his face against your neck so quietly, melting in your arms as his body language showed that he felt safe. To see him feel like this after a while of getting to know each other, knowing of his past, knowing what he went through — you were just happy that he was happy.

He wasn’t used to affection. But with you, he was sure to get used to it. And love it. Because it’s you who was giving it to him.

Seriously, this guy had always been known to be a player, the ‘prince’ of school, the dude with amazing hair. But as time went by — that was taken from him in some way and shape. From getting his popularity stolen to his girl leaving him ? At least he still had his good hair and was still charming. Though, in all honesty, he’s gotta say that having those things taken from him was the best thing that could’ve ever happened to him — despite the whole ‘ other-world -trying-to-kill-our-world ‘ thing going one.

He grew closer to a bunch of little brats that tease him and call him ‘ the mom ‘ of the weird little group. He was able to keep everyone safe and in check while simultaneously keeping the world safe. And the best thing of all — he met you. You. He remembers the first time he met you. You were as beautiful as you are today when he first met you in that store. When he turned around to greet you as he would with any upcoming customer and instead choking up on his words when he saw your smile. He just — it was honestly love at first sight.

You were, and still are, amazing. So kind with your words and considerations. You just — he can’t really explain everything with words, he doesn’t even have the words to describe you. You are seriously just that amazing and he is just as whipped.

Y’all’s first meeting was okay — he had stumbled on his words as he tried to speak to you and try to ask you out while Robin stayed in the back … laughing at his cringy misery. I honestly believe that Steve would be the only one who doesn’t friend you first — he’d automatically ask you out on a date — although in a clumsy way. Sooner — rather than later — you both hit it off. You hit it off so well that it didn’t take that long for you to warm up and show him pure affection. From the words that left your lips to the hugs that held him like the world would end that day.

Everything about you had always, and still does, take Steve’s breath away.

The two of you sat in silence, Pearl’s face redder than red

She kept opening and closing her mouth like she wanted to say something, but no words came out

Not until she finally slumped and looked down, mumbling, “Think… ‘s self… ‘splanatory….” “Hm?”

She finally huffed and groaned, looking at you with an angry look, “I think it’s self explanatory that I like you, too!!”

Bingo.

After an awkward confession, the two of you talked through it and decided to start dating

Very quickly it became apparent of how affectionate Pearl really was, but only when it was just you two!

Similar to the sleeping hc’s, she really loves to peer out of your shirt or hoodie or sleep against your neck

The first time she did it, it scared the fuck out of you

She was laying on your chest just cuddling with you when all of the sudden, she lifted up your shirt, and in a swift motion just popped her head through

You jolted so fast when she did that, yelping and cursing

“Cod- Fuck, Pearl! What are you doing?!” “Shaddup!”

When she popped her head out, she smirked just before she snuggled her head into your neck

The moment quickly became a really cute and memorable one, especially when she fell asleep against you and did that little cat stretch before falling back asleep LIKE????

RAGHHHHH SHE’S SO CUTE

She’s like a little koala—she loves to cling to you

If you try to leave mid cuddle sesh, she’ll whine and complain

You really had to go to the bathroom, and Pearl was busy clinging to you rambling on about her latest mayo review (she would never stop talking about her mayo collection) and she wouldn’t stop

Finally, you sat up, “Pearlie, I really need to pee-.”

She looked at you like you incinerated her mayo pool

Then came the pouting 😭

“I’ll be gone like 3 seconds, Pearl! I really need to go!” “Don’t talk to me ever again.”

As you rushed off to the bathroom you screamed back, “We both know how long that’ll last!”

Yeah,,,, it didn’t last long at all. She lasted about 10 minutes before she looked at you and began to tremble her lip

You sighed, “Go ahead, Pearlie.” Instantly, she snuggled up against you and began rambling again

Point is,,, she’s a snuggle bug

Honestly for how much I enjoyed knb when I watched it I do not talk about this anime enough. I'm willing to discuss all of this more.

First of all these characters are so funny and chaotic but they're also such losers and I mean that in the most affectionate way possible. Like I know they're supposed to be cool and intimidating but every time kagami tries to act tough and cool or aomine says "the only one who can beat me is me" or akashi says "i am absolute" or anything emperor like, I just kinda die of a combination of second hand embarrassment and laughter. Like these guys are so funny and they don't even mean to be.

Having said that murisakibara is genuinely one of my favourite characters in any media because he's just so done with everything. He has no fucks to give and he just wants to sleep and eat, and he's such a mood. Ugh I love him. And i ship him with tatsuya because they just seem like they'd be cut together

And aomines introduction actually made him seem so cool. A dick but cool and I kinda loved the whole falling out of love with basketball because everyone gave up and just stopped trying to win thing because even I, as someone who is unfit and doesn't really like sports would get annoyed at playing against people who aren't even trying. So you might lose, someone has to, but if you don't even try you're definitely going to lose whereas if you try, there's a chance, no matter how small that you'd win. And the interesting thing is aomine wants someone to beat him or at least be able to keep up with him. And it's sad because young aomine clearly loved volleyball.

On a similar note, aokaga or aomine x kagami I'd like my main knb ship. I feel like aomine motivates kagami to improve and get better, shows him that you can't always win on your own sometimes you have to rely on your team. Meanwhile kagami is the one that beats and keeps up with aomine, that doesn't just give up no matter how hopeless it seems, who still wants to play against him even if he loses, who doesn't hate him simply for beating him in basketballs. In my head later in life aomine went pro and they met again and became at least friends though of course they still argue. And kuroko keeps in touch with them all and constantly reminds them of the embarrassing things they said and did in high school, middle school and after. Also I like how they're shown as being quite similar in some ways but still being very different people. And ill forever be wondering what it would have been like if kagami had known them in middle school, both as a teammate and an opponent.

Kise is great. I'd say more but honestly I don't think I need to. He's kinda like a golden retriever puppy and is kind of two faced but not really. I like him and I ship him with kasamatsu though they do kinda remind me of oikawa and iwaizumi from haikyuu except they're not childhood friends. They're fun I like them.

Midorima is interesting because I feel like he's supposed to be like the smart need character but he's also really superstitious or at least believes in astrology which is interesting because I feel like more often than not, the smart characters are shown as logical and rational and not really believing that type of thing so I like that it was different here. Also he's friends (though I do ship them) with takao who is like one of the best characters and I love him and he deserves everything good.

I honestly don't have much to say about akashi. The emperor thing is interesting and I like him as a character but I just don't really have an opinion on him beyond that.

Kuroko is probably one of my favourite anime protagonists. He just seems chill and like he's waiting for his friends to sort their issues so.he can make fun of them later. And I always love to see kuroko scaring somebody. Plus he found the dog and dogs are always a win.

Finally kagami. This guy is great. He thinks he's so cool and tough but je is such a dork. He gives me so much second hand embarrassment, more than any other character but he's so funny and I love him so much. He's a loser but he's my loser. I feel like everyone has a character who they love but also love to bully and kagami is mine. I will bully him endlessly but if anyone seriously hates on him I will defend him like my life will end if I don't.

And that's without getting into the actual games. When I watched this anime I'd watch it on a night when my parents went to bed. I'd end up watching like five episodes because they were playing a game and I couldn't just stop in the middle of a match. They're so fun. Ugh I just live it

Edit: I completely forgot Momoi and that is unacceptable. When I tell you this girl made me so anxious every tome she came up I'm that first game. Like, when seirin would do something it would cut to her and she'd be like I know, I thought you might do that, here's how we'll combat that. Like she's so smart and badass while also being girly and feminine and she's so loyal, especially to daiki. Ugh I can't believe I forgot her. I kept feeling like I was forgetting someone but couldn't figure out who. But I do love her I think she's a great character and I'm so glad that she and Riko exist and are more than just love interests for the athletes. Like obviously there's romance hinted at or discussed but that's not all there is to them. They're so badass and I'm so glad they exist in this world. And I love their interactions with each other as well.

MK11 MILEENA

She was my main!! I started to like her after a while (despite not initially caring for mk9-11 version) I think she's cool! I wish her and Kitana got along in her ending but oh well. I would affectionately (somewhat) salad spin her and squeeze her. I almost marked her as a bastard but I held off bc I am still under the belief that she was a product of her environment and could have been redeemed imo. I am not a big fan of her design in this game for the base one, but the Kitana lookalike skin SLAPS.

MK11 KITANA

BINGO!

I love Kitana!! She became a favorite of mine after a while. I was really really sad that her playstyle and Jade's didn't match mine HAHA. I really actually relate to the whole wanting to fit your blood culture but not really being able to be like them because you weren't raised in that culture. I think over time I also ended up liking her soft, kind personality in this game. I do wish she was a little sassy like X but I am fine with it. I would affectionately salad spin her, but I couldn't bring myself to affectionately squeeze. The whole canon thing is how she didn't get along with Mileena in her ending and how she just didn't get to be with Liu Kang I guess. I really, really don't care for her base design and imo it is her worst design. I do like her skins though!

MK11 SINDEL

I uh. Don't like MK11 Sindel. I think it was a stupid retcon. I think she was much more interesting as a good guy who got corrupted then redeemed herself in the original title and I HATE how she got treated here. Ugh. I would squeeze her unaffectionately. I can see ig how people like the whole "dommy mommy" chara but imo should have been a different character all together if they wanted that. At least her design is kinda pretty? Idk. Not a fan!! Sorry!

MK1 MILEENA

I like her! I like how the story treated her and how she didn't get turned evil! Solid character right there. I actually think this is my favorite Mileena design! I would affectionately salad spin her. I like her more than it shows here, but I felt like the squares didn't fit well to my opinion. Idk! Cool character!! I'm a fan! Also I love her ending and imo one of the better ones!

MK1 KITANA

MY MAIN!! I love her playstyle a lot!! I'm also glad she got her style back, though I think MKX's designs are still my favorite for her HAHA. I do love her a lot but I feel like she got shafted in favor for Mileena, which makes sense because homegirl got SO much spotlight before. I do wish she got more exploration still since she was kinda made into Mileena's sidekick type of character and we rarely get to see more of it. I think Kitana and Johnny are funny as best friends, wouldn't want them together. Not sure how to feel about Raiden x Kitana. I do project and have a lot of hcs for Titan Kitana! But I based this off of the Liu Kang timeline Kitana. Otherwise, this would also be a bingo.

MK1 SINDEL

Thank god she's not evil! I do like what they did with her, but I wish we got to see more of her. Also, I am a little :| at her treatment of tarkatans and vaeternians (and EVERYONES treatment of that race, but that's another discussion). I like her design kinda, but eh! I wish I liked her more but I just kinda like her/am positive neutral. I marked that bottom left square because, you know. Also imo she didn't need to die so I marked canon isn't real. She could have been mortally wounded and handed the crown over to Mileena. Idk! I feel like killing her off was a weak move. Otherwise she's cool

Babel - R.F. Kuang ★★★★★ one of the greatest and most masterfully written books i've ever read in my entire life oh my god i will recommend this to everyone from now until the end of time!!!!

Yellowface - R.F. Kuang ★★★★½ never hated a main character more oh my godddddd what an infuriating read (the half star off is bc i didn't love the ending but like the ending is kinda the point so like i get it but I DON'T LIKE IT)

In A Holidaze - Christina Lauren ★★★★ went into this being like "lol i already know exactly how this book is gonna go!" and then somewhere in the earlier chapters Something Happened that made me gasp in shock like what the HELLLLL. finished this in like 2 days i NEEDED to know what happened next

People We Meet On Vacation - Emily Henry ★★★★★ book lovers is my favorite eh book buuuut this is such a close second!!!!! (friends to lovers is my favorite silly little book trope so like. this was written for me. i was destined to love this)

The Bodyguard - Katherine Center ★★★★½ this is sooooooo miss congeniality x every real person fanfic i read when i was a teen (affectionate). i was blushing i was giggling i was kicking my feet this was sooooooooo so so so romcom ugh i loved every second of it and i want (NEED) a movie/tv adaptation so baddddd

Always Only You - Chloe Liese ★½ i thought "ok i hated the first book in this insanely long series but let me give the second one a try" NOPE. SHOULDN'T HAVE. MIGHT'VE HATED IT EVEN MORE THAN THE FIRST ONE. despite loving the characters the writing was so terrible to me that i had to give up (and i was rly looking forward to the book in the future about two rival soccer players who fall in love but I SIMPLY CANNOT READ ALL OF THESE TO GET THERE. I GIVE UP)

From Blood And Ash - Jennifer L. Armentrout ★★★★ was this the most predictable book I've probably ever read? yes. was it an insanely fun and quick read? ALSO YES. idc this was surprisingly enjoyable and sooooo silly at times (was rolling my eyes sm and was screaming "HOW HAVE YOU NOT FIGURED THIS OUT YET" fjdjfjd)

The Winter of the Witch - Katherine Arden ★★★★★ read the first book of this trilogy in 2022, the second in 2023, and this one FINALLY in 2024...what a journey it has been!!!!! The action!!!! The character relationships!!!! The heartbreak!!!! What a wonderful conclusion. Literally loved every second!!!

Throne Of Glass - Sarah J. Maas ★★★★½ actually so confused bc i saw reviews saying how difficult it is to get into this series/that they find the first book (so, this one) boring???? I WAS ENTHRALLED. OBSESSED. WANTED TO BE READING IT 24/7. CAN'T WAIT TO START BOOK 2 AHHHHH (which will take a while bc my brother has to read it first and he is a slower reader than me 😀)

A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire - Jennifer L. Armentrout ★★½ wtf happened between the first book and this one??? how did it get so much worse???? my god was this a whole lot of NOTHING. full of confusing world building/lore and oh my god the conversations between characters went in circles. NOT A FUN READ (except for the very end which was a little redeeming lol)

Lovelight Farms - B.K. Borison ★★★★★ what more could i want in a book liiiike this literally has everything i love about a romance book put into one beautiful wonderful heartwarming cozy endearing story (i should've read this during christmastime)(literally it haunts me that i didn't read it in december last year)(WHAT A MISSED OPPORTUNITY)

Done and Dusted - Lyla Sage ★★★★ when i say this was a quick read i! mean! it! (no literally i started it on april 3rd and finished it april 4th i was hoooooked)

Swift and Saddled - Lyla Sage ★★★★ the book mentioned taylor swift and bake off (two of my favorite things) of COURSE i enjoyed it (ok the end annoyed me a little but that's a me specific thing i don't think it was a bad ending!)

Murder on the Orient Express - Agatha Christie ★★★★★ so um this left me in shock fhdshfkds i also jokingly guessed the ending (and thought "but there's no way. that would be ridiculous" lmaooo)

Come Back to Me - Mila Gray ★★★★½ this was a reread and i can confirm: i am still so deeply fond of this book <3 (and despite knowing everything that was gonna happen i still! sobbed!)

Stay with Me - Mila Gray ★★★½ another reread/comfort book <3 not as good as the other book from this author (i hate you miscommunication trope!!!!) but overall still fine)

Run Away with Me - Mila Gray ★★★½ another!!!!! reread!!!! would've loved it more if my copy wasn't riddled with typos and minor plot errors (i remember being obsessed w this book but like...not anymore oops)(it's fine)

Watch Over Me - Mila Gray ★★★½ would! watch! a! movie! of! this! (they will never make it so i'll have to just reread it every few years lol)

Fall Into Me - Mila Gray ★★★½ i am unfortunately not immune to the charms of a bodyguard romance ok this was...slightly endearing despite its errors/plot that was a little too fast-paced for me (also: a reread)(and my fancast for this one! IMPECCABLE)

So for the nickname in Meguru's case... I really wanted it to be 'Harry' - cause harry POTTER (ik you get it- Bachira is the least creative when it comes to nicknames) and for me, I don't see names as a way of categorizing gender? but i thought some people wouldn't like being called Harry so i played safe and used toki instead which is the japanese word for pottery. or i was thinking abt keeping the nickname as 'nendo' which means clay as well- but Harry clicked... (might change the nickname to that when i release your words my hurt + sequel bachira edition)

Rewatch Wednesday: On Loving -- and Hating -- 2gether

I have a 2gether problem. The problem is that my brain is almost always prodding me to rewatch 2gether, and I don't even LIKE 2gether. Or that's what I've been saying about 2gether for a while now. My original review (in my terrible google doc) is "7/10, terrible show, loved it." And I am all for holding 2 diametrically opposed truths in your mind, so that review isn't weird to me. What's weird is that a few months after that (exact timeline unknown) I started framing it as "I can't stop watching this show, and I hate this show."

And I do firmly believe that there's a lot to hate about 2gether. Khaotung Thanawat is WASTED as a brilliant actor, for instance. Bright and Win can't, for even 2 seconds, seem to want to kiss each other. Green is. UGH. Green is ugh. A terribly written character. The directing is meh, because someone should have been able to pull something out of Win Metawin. Anything! One emotion. The 11th-13th episodes are entirely 100% without a motherfucking doubt unnecessary. (Though I cannot do without the bits where Sarawat explains how he acted when away from Tine and talking to his friends about Tine. I love non-aloof Sarawat so much.)

The other thing is that I don't have a tie to 2gether like some fans do; for many people, it seems to be the show that got them into BL, so they have an affection for it I don't have. I definitely *understand how* that feels, because I feel that way about Bad Buddy. I love Bad Buddy and will never tire of watching it, either in little snippets or in giant gulps of hours of watching. I don't have that attachment to 2gether (though sometimes I wonder fondly what would have happened if I had discovered BL at the beginning of the pandemic), so my brain's frantic need to watch doesn't make sense from that angle.

But my god, there are moments in the show I just cannot get enough of:

the aforementioned scenes when Sarawat is so so excited about finding Tine

Fong drunkenly kicking Tine in the face; in fact, all the drunk scenes are excellent and I adore them

Though I think Win has a hard time pulling it off, the scene when Sarawat tells Tine how he really feels, and then Tine confesses how he's been missing Tine

Those goddamn soccer jerseys

The product placement juice bottle notes (!!!!!)

Bright in general; I think his acting is miles better than Win's, and I think he's playing Sarawat as a gay man, which I like

Okay fine, I like looking at Bright and Win. They are very attractive men.

(Here is where I confess there is a thing I do when I love a BL in a specific certain way: I call the two main protagonists "dummies". Like, "I love these dummies so much." Or "What are these adorable dummies doing?" Or "These men are my dummies and I love them." If I say a sentence that has that kid of cadence with the word dummies in it, my husband knows that I'm watching (and loving) a BL. But not all shows elicit this response! I have never once said about Pat and Pran: "Would you look at these dummies?" (affectionate) It isn't about the intelligence of the characters though, because the last time I spoke this way about two characters was for HIStory 3: MODC and neither one is unintelligent in any way. I don't know why this is a thing I do; it just is.)

Anyway, Sarawat and Tine were my first dummies, and I love them so much and I can't explain it. Because I also hate them and their inability to so much as have one carnal thought about one another. But I love their silly little faces so much and really wish I could smush them together. 2gether. But they're the worst. The absolute worst.

episode 2!!! aaaaaaauughhh i really liked this one too! i love pearly she's my baby she's my favorite little girl she's the one and only <3 i want to put her in a centrifuge (affectionate) also i think franziska is introduced in this case right ? i love her as well she's one of the most mean lesbians of all time

umm about the case itself i was rlly into them showing more feys! i liked getting to explore more or kurain village and they feys' family dynamics etc, i think ini/mimi and morgan working together to do evil tm was done well! i like ini also. absolute rocks for brains girlie i want to draw her but havent yet <3 AND MIMI, i felt so proud of myself when i was putting the clues together akkadajdsk!! im generally rlly into all of aa's sibling dynamics so this was like a little treat for me <3 stealing ur dead sister's identity and faking your own death… real !

yeah tho the way they developed the fey family lore in this case. very good. im a fan <3

its been a while since i actually played case 2 because cases 3 and 4 took me like a month each 😭 im missing a lot about it probably but ghjhdjdjf i also liked seeing lotta again, she's one of my beloved side characters and it was nice to see her again! god my brain is so empty. the magatama being introduced in this case! also very cool, i had to google how to use it because im stupid but once i figured it out i thought it was really neat and had fun with that

ok case 3 i hate case three <3 i hate it i hate it i hate ittttt sooo much!!! doubly mad about it because i am a circus + clown enjoyer and around the time i was playing it i got to see a history of circus museum so like UGH turnabout big top could have been genuinely so good but it just wasnt! it was gross! :/ all the characters rlly did have like potential to be cool and interesting but instead they were all child predators like come on 😭 the one decent guy is the murderer (i was excited for seeing a wheelchair user too :( but nooo we cant have good things in the aa circus!!!) and hjhfdjshj idk <3 yeah least favorite case for sure. my friend warned me it was gonna be bad but no one could have truly made me understand how bad it was until i played it lmao. genuinely like its even shittier bc it COULD HAVE been good :(

engarde ! he was cool! i like the whole stage persona thing, the constant fucking repetition of "refreshing like a spring breeze" got so annoying but like in a satisfying way? like. jdhfjd it was annoying bc it was supposed to be i guess, not bc the writing was bad if that makes sense? i liked his twist, i liked the stupid sprite of him pushing his bangs out of his face, i like the random materialization of the brandy(?) glass, i like?? his general cuntiness?? sdsdskd idk he was fun i liked him as a character and as a villain

also i really like how in aa1 phoenix breaks down zero doors but in aa2 he breaks down two doors. 10/10. let this man break down doors

edgeworth trying to give ppl (mainly phoenix) life advice throughout this case is?? so funny? i get he went on his self actualization and learned the real meaning of being a lawyer etc but hguhjfdhjd miles "i heart repressing my emotions" edgeworth?? claiming to be well adjusted and qualified to give others advice?? hilarious. 10/10. even better that it actually WORKS on phoenix ubfdjhdjfh

THE AFTERCREDITS SCENE BROKE ME LMAO everything about it makes me want to put my head thru a wall <3 franziska and miles interacting in general, her telling him that she will no longer be living in his shadow, her crying sprite, her leaving for germany, THE FOURTH PIECE OF EVIDENCE CARD AAAAAAA it fucked me up it really did!! maya drawing nick on the card she found while she's kidnapped really made me feel things! they are siblings your honor!!! i have so many feelings about this and the way it was set up + revealed but aghhh i cant put any of them to words it just made me yell really loud and screenshot the card a hundred times !

uhh yeah those are most of my thoughts i think!! tldr i liked this game it was fun (aside from case 3 the motherfucker) and id play it again for sure!! my favorite case was two i think, four is a close second but even knowing how it would end (im not immune to scrolling the aa tag for hours and getting spoilered rip) it was pretty stressful with the kidnapping djdjdj

I don't agree that Nancy hated Robin at the beginning of s4. She was extremely stressed at the library after finding out her friend died, and then this girl she doesn't know wouldn't shut up. She was more irrated by Robin than hating her. Tho, she should have clarified and communicated with her after Robin told her about her struggles. Or at least Nancy should have apologized after the library. Idk if it's on the show or if it's Nancy characterisation at this point, but she has a pattern for not apologizing properly. If you compare her to Steve, who immediately clocked that he went too far when he insulted Dustin in the car and apologized right after, it's quite the difference. Tho Steve always has to atone for his character from s1, the show never lets us forget he was an ass in hs. Meanwhile, Nancy gets a free pass for everything. People still love her despite her treating them like shit

Anyway, s4 Robin was so ooc. If Steve would have had this attitude towards her in s3 (even in s4), she wouldn't have let it slide, let alone still wanting to talk to him or trying to befriend him. They butchered her character in order to avoid conflict.

What's also annoying to me about every Nancy ship is that she's the important part. It's always the question of who is the best for her, esp in the fandom. R//nance is the best for her because she's finally free from men, and Robin is the only person who gets her. J//ncy is the only real ship because Jonathan gets her as they are trauma bonded, or St//ncy is the best ship because Steve loves so much, more than Jonathan. Her romantic partners are always reduced to options. There are no questions about Nancy being the right one for Robin, Steve, or Jonathan. It's partly the shows fault because nobody has any negative feelings towards her and they all seem to be obsessed with her but ugh I wish at least in fandom they would also look at her potential partners as actual characters for once. Like no she wouldn't be right for Robin because Robin needs someone who can communicate clearly and who would understand her quirks. And no Nancy wouldn't be the right one for Steve because Steve wants to be loved unconditionally, that's something Nancy can't give him because there is still Jonathan and the trauma of losing Barb. And Nancy isn't even that great for Jonathan either because she can't understand his financial struggles and trauma from being parentified at a young age, which was shown in s3 after her nonpology. (Tho I'm also not a J//ncy fan because Jonathan isn't a catch either for Nancy.) It's like the post you reblogged, we need more episodes in the show so that the characters can develop and we see actual personal conflicts. But because there is no time, everyone has to be best buddies to be united against the main villain.

YES you word it so well. nancy is always put first in fics AND in canon, and all her love interests are just options. they've definitely become more like set pieces or props in her story, which is such a shame. what i hate about fandom spaces and interpretations of canon is that it can be so hard to try and introduce nuance to a character that is beloved to fans. which!!! makes no sense to me bc the duffers wrote a multifaceted flawed character, but nancy is often reduced to the perception that she's the Good Girl.

and yes, i admit i was pretty hyperbolic in saying that nancy HATED robin, but i also think that what with the st/ancy flirting, there was also a hint of jealousy. i think nancy thought in the back of her mind that steve would always be her fallback.

AND YES to robin being so ooc in s4 bc she's literally a jackass (affectionately) and so snarky and a BITCH. like she's steve and steve is her and they are both mean girls at their cores. your entire analysis about the different nancy ships is just MWAH <3
