Rune Art: Cosmic Whisper by Cocorrina
Cosmic Whisper Runes Cards by CoCorrina.
The deck sold out after the second edition, but the cards may return to CoCorrina’s page for a third edition (though not while this post was written in January 2023.)
To promote the deck CoCorrina wrote:
Runes are almost 2000 years old and are known as the oldest and most powerful alphabet that was also used for magic and divination practices.
With 24 symbols, runes are very accurate; there isn't room for speculation or interpretation as there is with oracles and tarot. They are perfect for a definitive answer, without a lot of contemplation or subjectivity. Each rune has a strong and clean meaning that is easy to remember.
This deck is one of its kind. Runes were often made with stone or wood, connecting them even more to nature. Our deck is one of the very few that has incorporated runes into cards. We have thoughtfully made every decision and chosen every material to resemble the ancient runes, while at the same time staying true to their origins and natural connection.

Not everyone who successfully impacts the hearts and minds of one generation will carry that currency of influence into the generations that follow. But the continued success of Cosmos, Carl Sagan’s magnum opus, argues strongly for Carl’s affability and intelligence. But it also reveals a hidden hunger in us all to learn about our place in the universe and embrace why it matters intellectually, culturally, and emotionally.
These properties distinguish the work of Carl Sagan and his collaborators from all other efforts to communicate science. Most good books in the genre teach you what to know in the author’s field of expertise—what’s hot, what’s interesting—in clear and simple language. But rarely is that information shaped into knowledge. And even more rarely is that knowledge shaped into wonder; the foundation of a cosmos perspective on the world. Dare I assert that Cosmos wielded this power in ways that profoundly influenced how we would observe, interpret, and conduct our lives.
One of the least noted facts about Cosmos, but perhaps the most significant of its gifts to human culture, is how it repeatedly cross-pollinated the traditional sciences—astronomy, biology, chemistry, and geology. When taken separately, these fields are each noble and time-honored. But when taken together—when Cosmos wove them into a tapestry of insight on our place in the universe—their juxtaposition became potent and indelible. Cosmos was early, if not first in this endeavor. In the decades that followed its publication, we would see the rise of hybrid fields of study such as astrobiology, astro-particle physics, astro-chemistry, planetary geology—some still donning their hyphens.
But the publication and best-selling success of Cosmos accomplished much more than this. The book’s treatment of scientific topics was persistently blended with other traditional fields of study, such as history, anthropology, art, and philosophy. Revealing for the first time how and why readers should embrace all the ways that science matters in our culture.
At the time, there was nothing fresher, more uplifting, or more empowering than the themes and messages of Cosmos. Perhaps for the first time in any medium, the person teaching you science—Carl Sagan—cared about the tangled mental roadways that can rob a person of rational thought. His motif was to speak with you, not lecture at you. With that level of pedagogical comfort, millions of people around the world invited his television image into their living rooms and his printed words into their reading chairs.
When Cosmos first arrived in 1980, the arms race of the Cold War was fading, but nonetheless continued to hold hostage the world’s nations with a nuclear arsenal of destructive powers derived from the minds of physicists. But exploration was not without hope. NASA had already landed Viking on Mars, seven years after we walked on Moon. And the twin Voyager space probes continued their flyby-tour of the Jovian planets, on their way out of the Solar System altogether. All headline news. But much more was to come. The Space Shuttle had not yet flown. The International Space Station existed only on paper. The Hubble Space Telescope was eleven years from launch. The first exoplanets—worlds orbiting suns other than our own—were fifteen years from detection. The World Wide Web was still a decade away from becoming a household utility, democratizing access to cosmic discovery. And dozens more space missions would launch and arrive at their respective destinations.
In a field that moves as rapidly as astrophysics, one would think it impossible to write a timeless tract on it. But within Cosmos you’re never focused on the bleeding edge of science. That comes and goes. You’re instead treated to what the epic adventure of scientific inquiry means to Earth, to our species—to you. And that recipe works at any time, in any place, for any generation.

Viking shield knot ring - 99$
★Material: High Quality Solid 960 Sterling Silver★
Weight: approx. 17 g (0,59 oz)
Viking axe from Mammen.
In 1868 a farmer began to dig into the mound Bjerringhøj at Mammen near Viborg. During this work he chanced upon an unusually richly-furnished grave, which has become known as the grave from Mammen. A magnate was buried in the grave during the winter of 970-71 AD. He was given an expensive costume, a ceremonial axe with inlaid silver decoration and a large wax candle.
On one side a tree motif can be seen. It may symbolise the Christian Tree of Life or the pagan tree Yggdrasil. On the other side is an animal figure – perhaps the rooster Gullinkambi (Old Norse “golden comb”) or the Phoenix. According to Norse mythology Gullinkambi sits on top of the tree Yggdrasil. Here it wakes the Viking warriors every morning and it will crow at the beginning of Ragnarok (the end of the world).
In the rich mythological tapestry of the Norse pantheon, Odin emerges as a captivating and multifaceted deity, donning a myriad of roles and possessing a diverse array of attributes. While commonly revered as the god of war and death, his dominion extends far beyond the battleground. Ascending to the lofty heights of the celestial realm, he assumes the mantle of a sky god, presiding over the vast expanse above. From this exalted position, he radiates an aura of wisdom and inspiration, earning his distinction as the patron of poetry and the embodiment of sagacity.
Magic, an integral part of the mystical fabric woven within Norse mythology, finds its ultimate expression through Odin. Enigmatic and arcane forces course through his being, endowing him with an unparalleled understanding of the esoteric arts. His name resounds as the epitome of sorcery and enchantment, intertwining with the very essence of the supernatural.
Perched upon the magnificent Sleipnir, a wondrous and unparalleled eight-legged equine companion, Odin traverses the realms, transcending boundaries and connecting disparate worlds. With each stride, his indomitable presence ripples through the fabric of existence, leaving an indelible mark on the cosmic tapestry.
Gungnir, the renowned spear of Odin, stands as a testament to his martial prowess and unyielding resolve. Forged with meticulous precision by master craftsmen, this legendary weapon strikes true, unerringly finding its mark amidst the chaos of battle. Its gleaming edge serves as a symbol of the god's unwavering determination and unassailable power.

Dislikes: SIGMUND GLOCKER, National Unity Party, Witch Trials, Anyone who disrespects her, Mad Scientists, Being Trapped, Church of Blood, Grave Robbers, Gods’ Arrogance, Demons, Angels, John Constantine’s Antics, Forbidden Arts
Appearance: Often, Agnes is seen with waist-length golden hair and cyan eyes. Her skin appears silvery with a holographic shimmer. It is impossible to determine which race or ethnicity she is. Her eyes would glow golden whenever she used her magic. She has several surgical scars around her torso and upper legs from years of being the “wife” and test subject of Glockner. Those scars could not fade away regardless of what Agnes did. Sometimes, her eye colors vary from purple to red to green. She would have different hairstyles depending on the occasion.
Causal: Agnes currently wears a blue-purple sun dress with golden embroidery of the sun and moon. She also wears a pair of black sandals. Other times, she wears a purple short-sleeved blouse with dark blue high-rise jeans and a pair of black boots.
Young: As a child, Agnes would wear a black tunic with silver accents, given to her by Nyx.
El Dorado: While staying with Xocoatl in El Dorado, she wears a white tunic with blue and violet accents and a white skirt/loincloth. She also wears turquoise earrings, a pair of golden arm bands, gold bangles, a gold and turquoise necklace, and two gold rings on her left hand.
Mesopotamian: As Sybella, she wears a white tunic dress with a violet shawl around her. She would have a pair of gold earrings and a necklace.
Egyptian: As Wadjet, she wears a green regal sheath dress with a scale design and a red robe with feathers and hieroglyphic patterns depicting guardianship. She also has a royal blue blindfold that covers her eyes in a crisscrossed way. Her wings resemble a falcon’s and she has what seems like closed eyelids. Her jewelry consists of a golden collar, ornate bracelets, a pair of serpent anklets, and a golden crown that has the uraeus with the Sun on the center.
Hebrew: As Devorah, she wears a long blue tunic with a violet cloak. She also wears a white mitpaḥat, a pair of silver earrings, and wool sandals.
Greco-Roman: As Hecate, Agnes wore black undergarments with a purple cloak. It is attached together with silver ornaments. She is always barefoot. Her physical appearance was greatly altered during this time. She had three faces and six arms. Two of them held a torch in each hand as one held keys and another held a dagger. Behind her head, there is a strophalos.
Baltic: As Gabija, Agnes wore a traditional red Baltic dress with a white shirt and a pair of black shoes. Her necklace is silver and her dress has a fiery movement. Her necklace is actually a grass snake that wraps itself on her neck.
Nordic: As Sassa, Agnes wore a blue hangerok with yellow and white ornaments around it. She also wore a pair of brown leather boots. She often wears a shawl during the harsh winter. During this time, her hair was very long. This allows her to fuse her hair to the floor and the walls of her private longhouse to see the legends of the Nordic Gods without directly interacting with them.
Sol Fertilis: In Sol Fertilis, she dressed as a Gamma Plus. Her clothes are a purple bodice with a tiered skirt, a pair of purple heels, a purple mantilla, and a purple wedding ring. She also wears a golden necklace with an amethyst and a pair of golden earrings. The clothes are from Ivoire, which is a luxury clothing brand. Her hair is braided in a Minoan style and covered in pearls.
Pre-capture: In 1920s Norway, Agnes wears a long, simple white dress with a girdle of vines and flowers. Her hair is braided with lilies of the valley and leaves with a wreath of white water lilies. She is often mistaken as a Skogsrå.
Capture: After being captured, Agnes was forced to wear “Ostanized” conservative clothes. Usually, she had to wear a teal dress with black stockings and black low heels. Her physical appearance deteriorated heavily during this time. Her hair had become stringy, her eyes become glassy, her skin had begun to crack and pale, and appeared malnourished.
Tomb: After her false death, Agnes wore a royal blue court dress made of satin, adorned with golden embroidery. The bodice is fitted with a voluminous skirt, complemented by a matching dress. A mantua in the same hue and adorned with golden embroidery drapes over the gown. She also has black dress shoes that also have gold embroidery. Glockner had her wrapped in Germanic and Old Zandian runes to make sure that she would not be able to move. After years underground, the dress looks tattered.
[REDACTED]: In a certain form, her hair becomes white, while it is burning hot, as her eyes become completely black in the shade where light can not be reflected. It looks like black tears come out of her eyes. The ends of her mouth extend to her ears and fangs form on it. The scars around her torso form to become mouths and have sharp teeth there as well. A pair of falcon wings appear on her back as eyes appear on them. She gains four pairs of horns. Her feet turn into falcon talons. Agnes wears a long purple Mesopotamian dress, which exposes her stomach and legs, and a black shawl. The edges of her shawl have golden linings and onyx. Her nails become black and sharp as if there is poison coming from them. For jewelry, she has a golden necklace with a pendant that has her personal sigil, a pair of obsidian earrings, three golden armcuffs, and a gold bracelet with runes. Finally, she wears a gold crown with the symbols of the moon, including crescents and a full moon, with stars made of obsidian and a long gold chain mail covering the upper portion of her hair.
Personality: Agnes is an aloof, studious, and quiet woman who has years of knowledge and experience. She has shown to others that she is hands-off, considering she rarely, if ever, interferes with the affairs of mortals and it is not uncommon for her to ignore calls for her. This is not the case with her close friends and family. Agnes takes her long-standing position as the Goddess of Magic very seriously as she is why magic exists among mortals. She refuses to interfere or get involved with mortals’ affairs unless it is necessary, such as dealing with inter-dimensional beings, including demons, mortals tampering with the natural order, unauthorized resurrection, and dangerous warping of reality, among others. She is often annoyed at being worshiped since she wants to remain hidden, especially since the 20th century. At the same time, she does not prevent it. Agnes deeply loves Diedrich, despite him being the result of the brutality from Glockner, and deeply regrets not being there in his life. She also wants to be a caring grandmother to the Cuckoos. She is rather cautious towards angels and demons since they are naturally opposed to her. Despite her cautiousness about demons, she is willing to help cambions. She has severe distrust towards any scientist due to the trauma and torture she endured under Glockner. She particularly hates scientists who use their technology to abuse others and is willing to either kill or maim them for that. Agnes is very interested in modern technology as she tends to infuse her magic with her cell phone, TV, laptop, wifi router, etc. Since marrying Xocoatl, she has become happier and more open as she is taking steps to recover from the trauma. She is highly distrustful towards Nergal and does not believe he is capable of changing. However, she cares deeply about Nergina and Aunt Sis, being concerned about their well-being.

“You’re really close…”
To be honest Mel doesn’t know how she even got stuck here in the first place with her co-worker
Ed nearly jumped out of his skin at the voice in the dark. He hadn't realized that someone else was in the closet with him. He thought he recognized the voice as belonging to one of the interns (not one of his)... Mel, wasn't that her name?
"Sorry," he said, trying his best to squish himself further into the opposite corner.
They needed to get out of here before anyone discovered them in a storage closet, because then there would be accusations (things he'd never do...) and... No. He didn't need that, not when Sam already had so many reasons to want to fire him as it was... He half wondered if this was another of Sam's pranks. He wouldn't have been surprised if Sam had seen him walk into the storage closet and locked him inside, and wouldn't that be cosmic irony, since the point of locking himself in here in the first place was so that he could have his post-meeting panic attack without anyone finding him, especially the new CEO.
"I didn't realize anyone else was in here... Who are you?"

[🔪:] Alan stared at Ed, his face pale. He staggered backwards, jot sure if he should call the police or try and hear the younger programmer out. His hands trembled, and he could hear his heart thrumming in his head.
He should've screamed. He should've called for help. Instead he stared into Ed's eyes, desperate for an answer.
"Why?"
[From the "send 🔪 to encounter my muse after they've just killed someone" meme. Doesn't need to be a thread if you dont want it to be, I just thought the angst would be spicey]
Ed stared at the corpse. He felt... nothing. Not... vindication, not anger, not grief or... anything.
His eyes flicked first toward the child backing away down the alley into the dark street, curly blonde hair sticking out from under a plastic viking helmet. Ed dropped the shard of glass that had been digging into his hand. He didn't even remember picking it up, but there were several other bottles littering the street, so he must have grabbed one.
Was that his blood or...
The glass shattered loudly in the too silent street.
"Beo, I..." Ed started weakly. He'd promised both of them he would never expose Beo to violence. Not after everything e'd already endured.
The child turned and ran, disappearing into the dark.
Ed didn't dare chase after Beowulf. E wasn't safe with him anymore. He had no right to take care of Petra's child after what he'd done.
Ed sank to the ground, his body aching from the abuse he'd endured in the fight. He wasn't a fighter, he had no experience or training in martial arts or street fighting, but when he'd seem that man, drunk and pinning Beo to the wall with a predatory look in his eyes, when he heard the things he said he'd do... Ed snapped.
Ed could feel the gash in his side, his shirt sticky-hot and plastered to his side. That would need stitches, if not surgery.
The state was going to take custody of Beo since Ed was clearly violent and unfit to take care of a child. Or at the very least while the investigation was going on.
He turned to Alan, finally registering that he was there. He knew he could trust Alan to take care of Beowulf, even if he hated the idea of burdening Alan with a kid he probably didn't want. He turned to him with a desperate look on his face. "Please... Look after Beowulf for me. E has no other place to go right now..."

send 🫂 to hold my muse while they have a panic attack.
(Found this in your archive and figured this is something my Clu might be pretty good at.)
The voicemail had been slowly gnawing a hole in Ed's mind all week, begging to be opened. The number was a dead giveaway he should have deleted it without listening to it the moment he got it, but of course he didn't. He hadn't seen that number in a decade, or heard the voice of it's owner in just as long, but he still knew it like the back of his hand.
His father's number.
It had come at the worst of times, when he and his team should have been focusing on finalizing the software for the deadline that Friday, except he couldn't stop thinking about the voicemail, couldn't focus on anything, and the rest of his team decided the week of a critical deadline was a good week to start infighting again.
He finally opened it that morning—Friday morning—resigned that he wasn't going to get anything done until he found out it was nothing or spent the day panicking over whatever his father decided was important enough to break a restraining order for.
Except that before he could process what had been said, Mackey showed up at his office demanding updates that Ed didn't have, and the vague threat that he'd "better have something ready to show the board tonight."
By some miracle, they had something to show the board by that evening, even if it was still full of bugs and nothing near where Ed would have liked.
By what could only have been cosmic irony, Ed didn't get a chance to show the board their software. Despite that, the meeting went about as well as Ed expected it to if he had, in the sense that he'd fallen through the thin ice he never seemed to be able to get off of.
He went for a walk after the meeting, knowing that going home was a bad idea, but not having anywhere else to go. He found himself at the old arcade, staring at it from across the street. It took him a moment to realize the door was open. A likely harmless mystery was as good a distraction as any, so he crossed the street, and slipped inside.
It didn't take him long to find Flynn's secret basement lab, or for him to find himself inside the computer (because that was absolutely Dr. Baines's digitization laser he'd shot himself with).
It didn't take them long to find him.
They took his clothes, then his glasses, and forced him in a skin-tight glowing suit.
Then they forced him into a cell with a view of... from what he could barely make out with his blurry vision, and what he could hear of the announcer over the sound of muffled screams from down the hall, were some sort of cyberpunk gladiatorial games. He had no idea if he would take the place of the person screaming down the hall, or one of the contestants, and would have preferred not to find out, but his brain finally decided that processing Father's voicemail and the fallout of the catastrophic board meeting was the better distraction from his current predicament.
He crumpled to the floor in a corner, feeling like someone was standing on his chest, his entire body shaking, and unable to draw breath into his lungs.
It took him a moment to process the sensation of strong arms around his waist, and his body cushioned in someone's lap.
He hadn't realized he wasn't alone in the cell. Had he been able to think clearly, he might have wondered if the stranger was there when they threw Ed in, or if they threw the stranger into the cell while Ed was panicking.

From the send me a prompt for one muse to find the other in the following situation meme
( feverish ) : suffering from a high fever and severely ill
Sam, Alan, or Dyson is (are?) sick because unfortunately I'm indecisive (I'm sorry)
@occupationallyhazardous
Truth be told, Ed wasn't entirely certain how he got into the current situation, except that he had. He wasn't even entirely certain what the situation was, if he was honest, and he didn't want to think about the only conclusion that made sense in this situation.
He should have been back at home, enjoying the evening being trounced at Mario Kart on the Wii by Beo. Except he'd said something wrong (he wasn't entirely sure what; he hadn't yet had time to reflect on anything that had happened ) and Beo bolted out the door.
Ed chased em to Flynn's old arcade (no surprise that Beo had managed to break in, e'd picked the lock on Ed's front door enough times before he adopted em), and down into the secret laboratory in the basement (no surprise there, either... either that Flynn had said secret basement lab, or that Beowulf somehow managed to find it). Beo had immediately been intrigued by the literal desktop computer with the running timer. Ed had been shocked at seeing that desk, since he'd seen it precisely once before when he was four. He hadn't realized what Beo was doing (remind him why he thought teaching Beowulf coding was a good idea, again?) until he heard the laser power up behind him (dear god, Flynn, why the hell was there a Laser pointed directly at the desk chair?), and by then it was too late.
They were met almost immediately by Flynn (He was in hell, wasn't he? That's what this place was, a special circle of hell, just for him), wearing a long flowing robe with a glowing yellow pattern on it, and a compliment of soldiers in suits with glowing red lines.
Long story short, he told Beo to run, and tried to hold them off. They captured him, he escaped Flynn and the terrifying other that sounded suspiciously like Alan (This is revenge for that time his father kidnapped Alan, wasn't it?), and made his way to the barren snowy wasteland outside the city. He stumbled into a cavern he'd managed to find to hide in, and nearly stumbled over what he at first assumed was a dead body.
He shrieked, but then realized the person had faintly glowing red lines on his suit, and when he reached down to feel for a pulse, the body was hot. Feverishly hot.
"S—sorry," he stuttered, exhausted and precariously staving off the oncoming panic by the need to locate Beowulf and make sure e was safe.
Ed's first instinct was to leave. If this was one of Flynn's minions, then he should leave before he was either murdered or brought back to Flynn for more death games. (What the hell, Flynn? What made you think that emulating the Roman Empire was a good idea?)
If Ed left, he would surely die.
(Damn it, he couldn't leave without Flynn finding him; and he had nowhere to go. Damn it, he couldn't just let a stranger die. Ed didn't even know for certain if he was one of Flynn's minions.)

My #1 post of 2022
[Sanctuary: receiver pulls sender into their house to protect them from an impending danger/storm] Your choice between Alan or Sam
Ed barely beat the storm on his way home from the board meeting. The storm was one of those storms that just randomly popped up off the coast as if out of nowhere on occasion. He tossed his coat on a hanger in the closet and wandered to the kitchen to scrounge something up for dinner, still thinking about the meeting.
The board meeting was... tedious. That had been the fourth board meeting since Sam took over as CEO, and Ed still knew neither what the new dynamic within the board was, nor what role he was supposed to play.
What he did know, was he was on thin fucking ice with the board again. That was fine. He'd dealt with it before, and he'd do it again.
And that Sam only seemed to listen to Alan, which only seemed to frustrate everyone else.
Ed glanced out the window across the living room, and caught glimpse of a lone figure across the street, looking much like a phantom shrouded in fog from the heavy rain.
Speak of the devil.
What the hell was Alan doing out in a storm like this? Ed could barely see him across the street, and with those glasses he wore, it was a wonder he had any clue where he was going.
Before Ed could think about what he was doing, he was out the door, not bothering with a rain coat.
"Alan!" he called, barely pausing long enough to make sure the road was clear before sprinting across to Alan.
He caught up to Alan, and gripped his arm lightly.
"Hey, Alan," he said. "this weather's pretty bad. My house is across the street, how about you come inside?"

Starting a weekly rec list cuz I have almost 500 lovingly-organized private Ao3 bookmarks and they deserve to see the light.
Expect ~5 underappreciated, mostly techno!centric works, because I am a simple individual with simple needs. I'll provide the rating, any archive warnings, the main character grouping, and the word count. Standard disclaimers, read the author's tags, leave a nice comment on the work, etc.
Without further ado, here's the first batch!
but i can't breathe underwater by rinredacted
T || Major Character Death || Bedrock Bros || 14k
Beautifully written, atmospheric, SCP-style horror. Genuinely chilling to read at 2am like I did last night, and also truly, truly, just. Gutwrenching. Not a happy read, but one I will be thinking about constantly for at least a month. This is literally the work that prompted me to start publicly rec'ing fics, and I don't usually fuck with MCD. Please read this.
The Pig Farmhand by 1248 and Anarchy-Schmanarchy
G || No Warnings Apply || Emerald Duo || 9k
Cozy, magical little oneshot. Stylistically, this one alternates between an Aesop's fable and a minecraft youtuber's stream-of-consciousness, and somehow it works. Gives me the same vibes as The Hobbit. Angst is technically present but so mild that it's more for flavor than anything. This fic will make you feel comfy <3
break our bones into half by GracefulLeopard
M || Graphic Violence || Emerald Duo || 12k
This is a How to Train Your Dragon AU with viking!Techno and dragon!Phil, and it is exactly as fitting as it sounds. It also has several of my favorite tropes, including enemies to besties, prison bonding, and recovery fics where Techno is the one needing help. Wrapped up with great writing quality and spot-on characterization to make a very engaging read.
Healthy Coping Mechanisms? In THIS House? by Beans_McGee
G || No Warnings Apply || Emerald Duo + Niki || 3k
Part 1 of a very good ongoing modern-with-magic AU. Techno copes, or more accurately, does not cope with Phil being on a prolonged trip away from home. He so very much Has ADHD. He is painfully, hilariously in-character. He needs a hug, and he will be damned before he pauses long enough to acknowledge that. Niki watches the car crash.
drink until you've had enough (I'll drink from your hands) by findingkairos
G || No Warnings Apply || Emerald Duo || 9k
Angels and demons AU with a twist, and the twist is gorgeous, detailed, morally-ambiguous worldbuilding. Techno and Phil have to fight for their happy ending in this one, but it makes the pay-off that much much more satisfying. Bonuses include beautiful in-fic art and just a smidge of cosmic horror. As a treat. For me specifically.
Alright that's all I've got for now. Enjoy, and don't forget to give the authors some dopamine!
