The fact that Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay, and Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey are about equally cuddly with each other is so special to me.
Tim is a married, at least functionally straight, buff man who plays cops and senators. They did not film sex scenes together. But that didn't stop him and Matt from being basically glued to each other; happily, publicly, showing blatant love for each other.
That is some wholesome masculinity right there. And like, compatible sexualities, or being sexual together, not being requirements for intimacy and love.

Like seriously Sisko is such a good manly role model:
Has hobbies he loves and is passionate about and enjoys them for the sake of fun - like when he built and Co flew the early Bajoran warp spacecraft he wasn't looking to prove that they had warp capabilities he just wanted to have fun and fly the ship with his son and bond
Is respectful to other cultures and religions and explains to Jake that he might not beleive Bajoran beliefs but that it's wrong to degrade them for their beliefs or see them as 'primitive'. He is made reluctantly into the emissary to the prophets but doesn't use this position for money or power and seems uncomfortable with it and doesn't want to be treated like a deity or religious figure
Has an arc of acknowledging and recognising his greif over his wife's death and never "gets over it" even when he gets a new romantic interest he still very clearly loves his late wife and he TALKS about how greif effects him and tries to use his experience to help Worf when he's thinking of Quitting
Cares for and tries to help his crew he's basically station dad
Mentors Nog even though he's not sure at first about his motivations for joining starfleet he's fair on him and treats him well
Is willing to admit when he is wrong to his son about ferengi and to others he's always reflecting on his behaviour and words and is willing to learn and admit when he was wrong
Is a loving and caring father who bonds with his son and encourages him even though he takes a different path in life
He's a great host and makes awesome meals for people and (presumably) teaches his son how to cook and has specific meals he makes for types of occasions so much so that his son Jake can tell what's up based on what he's cooking
I'm sure there's more examples please feel free to add yours

i love the way dads and uncles and grandfathers show their love.
i last saw my uncle in august and when he saw me on thursday he chose hugging me over going to the bathroom and almost peed on my nanas kitchen floor.
he went outside to get something from his car and came back in and looked at me very sincerely and said “remember, your car inspection is up next month. don’t forget to get that done.”
it’s all so painfully on brand and so strangely endearing

David Chisora in full Barbie-Pink for his daughters, with them in matching pink, kissing them before he goes into the ring, is EXACTLY the wholesome masculinity I like to see.

Dromaeosaur courtship- Dino Doodles
Tumblr media
She's perplexed.
Inspired by the courting dance of pigeons. Not a specific species, I just wanted to have fun with the pose and familiarize with the body type, and I like the concept of bird beards, especially in bright mating colors.
A meme based on this artwork became the most popular tweet I ever made.

broke: Souls games need less female characters connected with themes of caring, softness, sacrifice, love/heartbreak, nurturing and motherhood because players are dumb and they might decide that it is what women should do if not explained 50 times that they have a choice uwu
woke: Souls games need MORE MALE characters connected with themes of caring, softness, sacrifice, love/heartbreak, nurturing and FATHERHOOD because the message of humans being capable of wholesome feelings in general is better than shifting it to just one gender

sure toxicity can be fun, but you know what’s really fun?
a calm spirit, a quiet mind, every morning feeling like a soothing sunday, soft linens and hot teas, rays of sun
not sitting around waiting for a text, but laying in the grass
running your hands along a rustic stack of books
a forehead kiss goodnight and good morning too
no need to fill in the gaps because you’re already whole
🕯Tuesday morning thoughts 🕯in the process of letting go,

Listening to "Brother" by Lord Huron made me reflect on how beautiful male relationships are. Often we see the comradery that women have between them which is wonderful. But I cant help but reflect on the HEALTHY male relationships. My hubby doesn't have tumblr so I can use him as an example. They lovingly call each other 'brother', not bro, dude, etc. I hear often "you're not alone, brother". To me to see that mutual male support and love for each other makes me feel hopeful. Its a sort of wholesome masculinity. They support each other, they identify with each other. The way they interact and care for each other, is filled with so much pride and strength. I would love to see more positive male relationships in media. These men hold each other accountable, they encourage each other, they sit and silently watch youtube videos of engines together (that may just be my hubby). It may take a while for them to build that relationship but when they do it is damn near unbreakable

Between several long-haired teen boys
- Your hair is so nice, do you use curler?
- Oh, it just does this I guess
- Yeah, everyone wants your hair, man.
- I like your hair, actually.
- Aw thanks :)
