ghfvggvgbgvgf OKAY SO. i've talked about it before but not in super much detail so this is in more detail.

so just to go over the clans first, we have blossomclan, they live in a cherry blossom forest n have leafgazers who watch the leaves so the clan can prepare for changing seasons; typhoonclan, who live on a beach and have common bad weather, and skywatchers who attempt to predict it; mountainclan, who live in the mountains and have pathfinders who help cats up the mountains; and bambooclan, who live in the bamboo forest n have fellgatherers who gather bamboo fell to eat n stuff.

so the clans have a reeeeeally bad storm happening. blossomclan can't tell when the seasons are changing cuz the leaves all fell in greenleaf from the rain, typhoonclan had to retreat to their second camp n has been there for like five moons, mountainclan is struggling to traverse the mountain cuz it's slippery, n bambooclan has cats going missing. so very bad shit going down.

we have four protagonists in this fanfic, one for each clan: laurelpaw, the anxious medic apprentice of blossomclan; plumpaw, the eager skywatcher apprentice of typhoonclan; cootblaze (cootpaw in the first chapter), the egotistical pathfinder of mountainclan; and hornetpaw, a daredevil apprentice of bambooclan.

laurelpaw has a medic assessment - roseberry, a warrior, fell out of the tree while teaching the warrior apprentices, magpiepaw (laurelpaw's crush) and chesspaw, how to climb trees, and her mentor, tansypetal, decided it'd be a perfect assessment opportunity. due to laurelpaw's anxiety, she forgets cobwebs n therefore fails the assessment but she's nine moons old so no one expected her to anyways-

plumpaw is newly apprenticed in the first chapter n learns basic skywatcher stuff - there's a palm tree called the storm palm that they use to gauge how close storms are to ending to see if they can return to their primary camp (they have two camps), n also watch the clouds to see when storms are coming. we learn a lil about typhoonclan's founder, doppler, also - he was owned by a pair of meteorologists before joining the clans, eventually teaching his own clan how to watch the clouds.

cootpaw has her pathfinder assessment. no idea why there's so much happening on the same day (that also just so happens to be the day of the half-moon medic meeting-). she has to guide a patrol up the mountain n to the valley all by herself. she successfully does so, earning herself her full name cootblaze before she gets a headache n goes to sleep cuz of that. that was meant to be foreshadowing i think but it didn't go so well-

hornetpaw n her partner, rookpaw, are learning how to fell bamboo. that's a thing every bambooclan apprentice learns, the fellgatherers are just especially good at it. after waking up rookpaw's adopted sister, lightpaw, and deciding they're gonna sneak away to try n find the missing cats, the trio set out with hornetpaw n rookpaw's mentors, lamburnumface n crowberry. they successfully fell a bamboo stalk n the fellgatherers n their mentors leave to hunt or smth, n so the apprentices take this opportunity to sneak away. they end up finding a slope that hornetpaw ends up sliding down. bu almost fuckin' dies (help buz) before she's saved n goes back to camp traumatized. help her.

as mentioned, it's a half-moon medic meeting, so laurelpaw goes to the moonfalls with tansypetal. we meet the other medics - ravenblaze of typhoonclan, yellowleaf of mountainclan n egretcloud of bambooclan - n laurelpaw gets some basic info about the other protagonists as the medics share news. now normally in laurelpaw's dreams at the moonfalls she sees her dead mom, poplarstream, but tonight she sees her dead brother, gorsekit, who gives her - n plumpaw, cootblaze n hornetpaw - a prophecy: "the overcast skies will loom endlessly above, unless four can unite peacefully." laurelpaw is extremely confused by this.

with plumpaw, we time-skip half a moon to the night of a gathering! plumpaw does not realize this, he's been really spacey since the half-moon due to not knowing if the prophecy dream was actually real or not. after some interaction with the other typhoonclan apprentices - slugpaw, sootpaw n starlingpaw - all the cats who wanna go to the gathering set off. once at the gathering, the clans share some pretty basic news - new names, clan conditions, etc. blossomclan's leader, petalstar, shares laurelpaw's prophecy, but doesn't mention at all that plumpaw n the others were there (spoiler alert: laurelpaw forgot to share that part-). plumpaw talks with the other prophecy cats (+ rookpaw n lightpaw. who are very confused), i think starlingpaw low-key ships him with laurelpaw, sootpaw is crushing on laurelpaw also, all around a v fun chapter.

rookpaw n lightpaw are confused about the prophecy n rookpaw in particular is worried she'll accidentally treat hornetpaw different cuz of it. i love their relationship btw they're adorable. they decide to go out that night to yet again try to find the missing cats. so when the sun's just beginning to rise, when everyone's asleep, they sneak out of camp back to the slope. hornetpaw asks why rookpaw n lightpaw are so desperate to figure out why cats are going missing - turns out bu completely forgot about rookpaw n lightpaw's sibling, fennelpaw. somehow. after lightpaw n fennelpaw's mom died, fennelpaw stayed strong through it all n was apprenticed early cuz of their strength, but she was then one of the first cats to disappear. anyways, they reach the slope from before n after a good start, they fall allllll the way down. hornetpaw gets really injured from this. the trio wander for a bit n find a mysterious cat - a familiar mysterious cat. it's fennelpaw! n then hornetpaw fuckin' blacks out. don't worry she's not dead, in the actual chapter i kinda made it out like she was dead but bu is not dead-

anyways we then transition to cootblaze. which is somehow the funniest tone shift ever. we go from "apprentice with adhd (canonically) blacks out" to "local mountainclan asshole has a big ego about the prophecy" in like one second. she eats with the other pathfinders for a bit, her former mentor whimbrelstep says that the mountain's really slippery that day. she hopes she won't have to go on patrol today n then hollystorm, the deputy, comes n says she's going on patrol. cootblaze talks to her mom, lilyclaw, for a bit before the last patrol comes. her patrol sets out - after swanpaw talks to her hovering mother, frostcloud - n after a bit, there's rainfall streams coming down the mountain, whoops. cootblaze tries to start down the mountain but then she trips n the patrol brings her back to camp. she wakes up in the medic's den n after a bit, tells yellowleaf about the prophecy (in actuality she's like "can non-medics get prophecies" n yellowleaf's like "you got a prophecy didn't you." #girlboss). i was worried her chapter was gonna be boring but it wasn't.

i haven't finished laurelpaw's next chapter yet but she has some silly interaction with chesspaw n magpiepaw, tells tansypetal that plumpaw, cootblaze n hornetpaw also got the prophecy, watches tansypetal n petalstar be gay, n decides to go to the moonfalls. plumpaw's there for his mandatory visit (yes they have that tradition because why did they get rid of it at the lake territories-) n so they talk for a bit. laurelpaw gets visited by cat eldritch horror god, whose the embodiment of a bunch of prophets (the cats who make prophecies + basically possess starclan cats who give prophecies). they are not helpful. they're also called whisperingdream.

ummmm. yea. i have lots of ideas for future chapters. :3 n their warrior names. laurelpaw's gonna be laurelbloom cuz she had Character Development, plumpaw. i'm still not sure on. hornetpaw's gonna be hornetsting cuz personality + prefix, rookpaw's rookflower cuz she's calm n nice, lightpaw's lightwisp cuz she has depression (/hj i kinda just think it sounds cool) n fennelpaw's. i'm not sure on her either lfskdjfkljdf- yea. :3
