Remember gamers, “cheating” is only for multiplayer, when you’re on your own it’s “having fun”

Why I don't think Amity is scared of homophobia
After Enchanting Grom Fright a lot of people speculated that part of Amity's greatest fear was the aftermath of what would happen if she was outed by asking Luz to Grom. While I agree that she would probably be embarrassed if she was turned down and it became common knowledge that she had asked Luz to be her date, I don't think that is because Luz is a girl. I think she would be much more likely to be ridiculed for being attracted to a human than for being attracted to another girl.
Why? Because it seems like same sex couples aren't considered taboo on The Boiling Isles. We are shown in Understanding Willow that she appears to have two fathers.
Tumblr media
There is no indication from any of the characters that this is something abnormal or looked down upon. The Blight family had no problem with Amity's friendship with Willow, and therefore the association between the two families, until Willow failed to show much magical potential. It's not at all a stretch to think that the Blight parents are close minded and would not want their daughter to associate with someone with two fathers if that sort of thing was controversial in the demon realm.
There were also two seemingly same sex couples seen at Grom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first one is very obviously two boys awkwardly dancing with each other like any other high school couple at a dance. It would be pretty difficult to deny that this is casual representation of a same sex couple at Grom, and there is no indication from the other students or adults that it is anything out of the ordinary.
The second one could be read as just two girls talking to each other, but the fact that one of them is wearing a suit has led many people to believe that it's actually something more. When read as a same sex couple it is also important to note that one of the girls, the one in the suit, is Amelia, one of the "popular" girls from Boscha's friend group. That means that, if those two are in fact a couple, same sex dating is something that is not any sort of hindrance to social status, and therefore, Amity would have no reason to worry that her attraction to another girl may result in poor behavior from her parents parents or peers.
Overall, I don't think that homophobia in general is an issue on The Boiling Isles. I think Amity fears rejection in general, especially from those she cares deeply about, and could also be afraid of the backlash she may recieve for being attracted to a human, but I don't think she fears rejection in terms of coming out in general as she likely would in the human realm.

Luz: Bye guys! Me and my friends are going trick or treating!
Lilith: Aren’t you a little old—
Luz, tearing up: W-What are you gonna say?
Eda, covering Lilith’s mouth: She was going to say you’re a little too old to be telling us your leaving!

you change people. your name makes others smile. your work moves people. someone might compliment you somewhere, right now. someone’s heart will beat faster just thinking about you. your friends remember your experiences fondly. someone might see a book in the store and think of you, too. you inspire others to keep going, or you will someday. your presence matters and changes the world every day.
