24 hours and 1430 miles later
We have reached CO from the east coast. This includes stopping for nuclear waste, KC beer and awesome rock formations (amongst gas pit stops)
Trip just elevated to epic status

T-12 hours
Today’s the day... the day I’ve been prepping, packing and planning for over the past few weeks. The day that calls for an adventure to happen!
I will be here again, yet this time on the ground scaling up the rock forms and weaving through the canyonlands

Time out
I unfortunately do not have the luxury to just up and go on a whem to far off adventures.
Why is that? Well in order to provided my dogs with the good life I work a typical very mundane 9-5 office job. This also means that I have a time constraints in which all my major trips must thrive within.
Now don’t get me wrong I’ve thought about just getting up, packing the essientals and just going.... but truth is I like my life. Sure it’s less adventours than I’d like it to be but I’ve got a great group of friends here that make up for that (oh and not to mention I’m only 2 hours from the mountains)
So when I do take trips it takes a lot of planning and coordinating with a lot of people. This means making sure there’s coverage at my job, that someone can watch the dogs, and that the house is maintained in my absence.
Another thing is I try my hardest not to take any unpaid leave time and fully use all my vacation days provided. Here’s a snapshot of my calendar (note this is not updated fully in anyway!)

A little less sin
Vegas was actually a way more chill of a place than I anticipated.
Maybe it was the colder than normal temps or the fact it was during the week that made the difference who knows?? I can tell you that we gambled, danced, and ate way to much. But hey if you don’t over indulge then you are doing Vegas wrong.
Maybe I’ll post more about this adventure later on but for now it’s back to finalizing details for next months road trip
For now just enjoy this super tourist stereotypical Vegas photo

Carry On
I have had way to many bags lost or routed to the wrong location in the past so as a standard I don’t do checked bags when I fly. This means I am very limited sometimes when I decide to fly budget airlines as they charge for every little add on (looking at you frontier) but then again I did pay $150 USD for a round trip flight from the east coast out to Vegas.... so I won’t complain.
Since Frontier is a budget airline they charge a premium for a standard backpack or large carry on, however anything that is laptop size or smaller is free. Well challenge accepted:
1 pair of dark washed jeans
4 shirts/tanks
1 cardigan
1 jacket
1 pair of shoes
Toliteries
Misc camera accessories
1 DSLR camera
I managed to pack everything I needed for a 3 day/night trip into a 14” laptop bag. ✈️

Extravaganzas
I don’t know where this term for our trips originated I just knows it’s been there from the start, but redgardless of that it’s what I call my random and spontaneous trips that my best friend (Brit) and I take or have taken throughout our friendship.
We have a goal to hit all 50 states together and in a weeks time we will be traveling out to NV! This will mark our 7th state together… if this isn’t best friend goals then I don’t know what is.
States visited (in order) NY, NC, FL, GA, SC, MD, NV

Elusive Cave Hunting
It’s one of those easy leisurely hikes. The incline isn’t bad, the trail is maintained and there’s a 180 view of the blue ridge at the summit. All in all it’s an easy 5mile hike BUT it’s not the view or the fact that it’s one of the more secluded hikes that drew my attention. What really got me was that sitting 300yards somewhere off the 5miles of trail was a hidden cave and we were determined to find it.
After searching for clues on previous reviews and old videos uploaded all that could concluded was that it was on the northside of the mountain under a cliff ledge. So we set off with very little information at hand to track down the side of this mountain in hopes of finding this elusive cave.
After what seemed like we had been in a straight downward climb for a good 30mins we came across a small rocky ledge. Our pulses were racing and our excitement mounted... could this be it?

Destinations, Destinations, Destinations
How do you chose where to go when there are so many amazing places to see and explore. There are endless possibilities and not enough time, wouldn’t it be exciting to be able to see them all?!  For me at least that is not possible with working a full-time 9-5 office job.  So this means that a lot of my wanderings are of the digital type, but every once in a while I do get the chance to take off on a well planned adventure!
How do I pick where I go?  Well its a combination of talking with friends, watching videos and reading articles, and just saving the places that peak my interest.  I like it when my travels included someone else as I like to share my experiences with others, so a lot of the time I value the other person interest and input on ideas.  Once a destination has been decided I get on the holy pinterest and go pin-happy.
Here’s an example of what my current USA travel planning board looks like, and as you can tell there is a trip that is currently being planned out for this March!
See if you can guess where and if you can’t just stay tuned for updates!

This blog is getting started all because I have a friend that said it was a good idea.
It’s a causal Saturday night at your local brewery drinking some damn good craft beer and talking about the upcoming year and where we are all trying to take trips to.  A friend makes a casual comment that your trips are always super planned out in the most laid back type of ways and suggests you blog about it.
So here it is Alex... hope you’re watching and taking notes as I’m officially kick starting a travel planning and adventure documentation blog.
Hope it doesn’t suck to bad. So go on and hit a quick follow and stay tuned for updates!
