Re: distractions, I don’t know if this was a thing outside of the United States, but as a kid we used to get popsicles that had amazingly bad jokes on the sticks, so as you ate your popsicle you could slowly see the joke and the answer. I recently discovered that popsicle put their popsicle stick jokes online so you can click through them, and it’s become my bad day ritual. You can find them here:

We didn't have those fun popsicles with facts, but we did have these sweets called Fantales when I was younger, which had literal 'fan tales' - i.e. stories about movie stars - on the wrapper. Sadly, they were discontinued recently (probably because they weren't great sweets), but I wish the umbrella company that owned them added stories to the wrappers for something else!

We also have a brand of sanitary products over here that puts fun facts on the inside packaging. The facts are called 'Odd Spots' and include things like: - When you blush, the lining of your stomach also turns red, and; - Botanically, true berries include grape, tomato and eggplant, but not raspberries and blackberries.

You've just gotta take them with a grain of salt because there's some old wives tales in them for sure 😂

saw a tiktok of a mother taking her very tiny daughter to an art museum and she’s just walking around going “whoooa” “woooaah” to everything but then they got to a marble statue of a nude woman lying on her back and the girl points and goes “mommy🫵” and i just immediately welled up with tears and all the comments are just laughing about it and of course it’s funny but how are you not insanely moved by the way art connects everyone on earth from a centuries-old sculptor to a toddler in 2023
