Levi and Hange arranged marriage. Them being very close but Levi always thought it was just for companionship due to their forced proximity and need for the marriage. Zeke coming from a far off land and Levi seeing how close they're getting because both are scholars.

Levi informing Erwin of his troubles and Erwin telling him of one of the agreements in their marriage. Levi being confused and Erwin points out the both of them could in fact sought sexual needs from other people as long as they remain married and no children are made.

Levi asking if Hange knows of the clause. Erwin pushing for Levi to talk to Hange first before grudgingly saying it was one of Hange's requested agreements.

Levi being distant with Hange. Hange noticing. Hange becoming distraught at the fact they may be losing their husband due to them not being ladylike.

During confrontation Hange telling Levi they only placed the agreement for Levi's sake as they thought Levi was just being married to her as a punishment for who could ever want someone like Hange.

Levi couldn't help but feel envious of Zeke because of his appearance and their developing relationship with Hanji. He didn't know why, but he felt uneasy seeing Hanji and Zeke together, like something was slipping away from him.

"Oh, please!"  Zeke's cheek was tenderly patted as Hanji giggled. "Zekie, you always say the sweetest things about me." 

"Zekie?" The blonde laughed, saying, "That's new. I like the way it sounds." 

"I am capable of saying flattering remarks to you as well."

"Really, now?" Zeke's head shifted forward as he approached Hanji's face. 

They exchange long looks before catching Levi glaring at them from down the corridor. 

The two turned away from one another after clearing their throats. 

"Hanji, I'll see you around," Zeke kissed her hand.

She sucked in a breath before speaking, "Zeke, see you." 

Levi scoffed as he observed their conversation before leaving and hiding in his office.

Levi was sitting in his room and was looking at the wall in front of him aimlessly. He was having a difficult time coming to terms with the discovery that had been made to him. His mind was a flurry of uncertainty and remorse. He had always believed that his relationship with Hanji was only meant to be a type of friendship because of their predicament.

Levi was so deep in contemplation that he didn't notice the knock on his door until it was made twice. He exclaimed "Enter," without even bothering to look up.

Erwin entered after the door squeaked open. He stated sternly, "Levi, we need to talk.”

In anticipation of whatever news his friend had to offer, Levi sighed, "what is it?"

Erwin took a seat in front of Levi and looked serious. “You are aware of the contract governing your marriage to Hange, correct?”

Levi grimaced. "What accord?"

Erwin paused briefly before speaking gently. "The one that permits you to pursue sexual gratification outside of marriage, provided no children are born."

Levi's shocked eyes widened. "What? I was unaware that such a contract existed.”

Erwin nodded before proceeding, "Hange asked for it, and I accepted. Knowing that you wouldn't be bound to an unloving relationship, she reasoned that it would make your marriage simpler for you.”

Levi experienced a spike in his level of rage. "Was Hanji aware of this pact? Was she on board?”

Erwin pondered once more before nodding. "She did, really. Levi, I believe you should discuss it with her. It's preferable if you hear it straight from her.”

With a knot forming in his stomach, Levi headed to Hanji's room from his office. He'd always been proud of how well he could keep his distance from his feelings, but now he was being swept away by a tide of them.

He rapped on Hanji's door, and she answered after a brief pause. Hanji's face lit up in a smile when she first noticed Levi, but it quickly faded when she noticed his expression.

"Levi, what's wrong?" She questioned, a note of worry in her voice. Taking a seat and offering one to Levi.

The man refused, and instead stood before Hanji. Levi inhaled deeply as he made an effort to relax. "Hanji, we need to speak. regarding our marriage”

“Yes?” She spoke with a trail of wobble in her voice.

Levi was unsure of how to bring up the matter, so he paused before speaking again. "Erwin informed me of our agreement. The one that permits us to have relationships with others as long as we remain married to each other and bear no children with our sexual partners.”

Hanji's eyes widened in shock as she cast a downward glance towards the ground. She spoke a faint "oh."

Levi noticed the hurt and confusion in Hanji's eyes, and he experienced a wave of remorse as a result. "Hanji, did you consent to this? Or was it something that someone suggested to you?”

Shaking her head, "I concurred, Levi. Knowing that you could leave if you chose to would make things simpler for you, in my opinion.”

When Levi understood the genuine reason for Hanji's consent, his heart wrenched. “I never viewed our marriage as a punishment, Hanji. I wanted to be with you, so I married you.” 

Hanji looked up at Levi, and opened her mouth but Levi cut her off before she could speak.

“I am not the type of person who would agree to a deal that I know I do not want. And I do.” A beat skipped. “I do know that I want this.” 

The brunette before him remained in eye contact, her mout shut, as if waiting for Levi to continue. 

“It may be an arranged marriage, but I wanted this. I had a voice, I had a choice.” 

“I know you do, Levi. I just did not think that you would want this with me.” 

Levi’s forehead creased, and he felt pain surge through his veins, making his fingertips itch. His body jerked, yearning to comfort the brunette before her, but he faltered. Unsure. He did not want to hurt Hanji more than she already is. Levi chose his words carefully, treading on it ever so lightly. 

“I do,” he sighed. 

Hanji let out a small gasp, “wha-” 

“I wanted to do this with you. Who else do I do this with, but you.” He slowly approached her, and Hanji offered her hand out. This time, he accepted it. Squeezing it, and receiving the same response from her. 

“Can we try this again?” Levi suggested, “can we try this without the thought of this marriage being arranged?” 

“Of course, Levi.” Hanji smiled up at her new lover. “You’d have to stop staring at Zeke like that though.” 

“Oh, you mean Zekie?” Levi replied sarcastically, teasing her. 

“Come on now!” She laughed, really laughed. 

And Levi thought she looked beautiful like that. 

It was their perfect little arrangement.
