I honestly don't understand why the show creators decided to make Penelope this awful person ruining people's life for fun. In the books, Lady Whistledown is harmless she dose nothing but comments on people's clothes and the new couples of the season that's it. Not only that, but in the book Penelope even mentions that she sometimes would compliment ladies appearances who are usually ignored so others will notice them, because she knows what's like to be ignored. So why would you turn someone whose thoughtful to someone who expose others and ruin their reputations. Book Penelope would never expose Marina and no way in hell she would throw Eloise under the bus like in the show, they completely switched her character and it would've been fine if they had her realize how wrong she was for what she did and own up to it but they don't in fact they treat her like the victim instead. I'm sorry for this rant is just I loved Penelope in the book she was someone who suffered from bullying and being ignored but never took out her pain on others because this is exactly what she dose in the show.
I have read the books as well, and I love Penelope in the novels. But I am talking about her character in the show, and I dislike that version of Penelope. In the books, she never criticized or spoke badly about anyone unless they absolutely deserved it, but that is not the case in the television show. In Penelope's perspective, she was trying to help her best friend, but I don't think any Penelope supporters realize that regardless of her intentions, she humiliated her best friend. In addition, she lied to her for a really long time about her identity.
Eloise trusted Penelope with her secrets, and what did Penelope do? She published them for the entire ton to know. Also, she talked badly about the Queen and her husband, who is mentally ill. That's not the Penelope from the novels who I loved and adored. So that's why I don't like show!Penelope. Perhaps my opinion of her will change once the third season comes out, but for now she's not my favorite character.
When reading fanfictions, I love to picture book!Penelope instead, just in case you are wondering why I even read Polin fanfictions if I don't like show!Penelope.

Bridgerton robbed us of Penelope's friendship with the Bridgertons. In the books, she was so much closer to them, and they all considered her family. I LOVED her bond with Anthony and how he walked her home in the fourth book after she witnessed and overheard Colin's cruel words about her 🥺 She wasn't just their neighbor or Eloise's friend. She was an honorary Bridgerton. But I loved and appreciated her bond with Anthony more because he was so protective of her. Apparently, that wasn't shown in the TV show because non-book readers would start to ship them, and Kanthony would have been a less beloved ship 🙄😒 Don't get me wrong I love Kanthony but that's just a stupid reason.

I'm wondering what would Klaus' reaction to NH Caroline would have been like.
He admired her compassion, so would he have despised her with no humanity?
Or would he be amused at first and then start to get annoyed and try to get her humanity back?
But I don't think Klaus would have forced Caroline to turn her humanity back on. I believe that he would have respected her choice to remain without her humanity for a year.
I guess that's why fanfictions exist.

So I woke up four hours ago and couldn't go back to sleep, so I decided to read some Bridgerton fanfictions because, why the hell not? And I stumbled upon this fanfiction, and I LOVE IT SO MUCH 🥺 The author captured the essence of the characters perfectly! Like, from the short clips and trailers that have been released, they turned them into stories! Daphne and Simon aren't in the story and that's because the actors aren't in the third season, and I love how the author stayed true to that and didn't try to write them in the story. They are mentioned, though. I love Daphne and Simon, but I love that part about the story even more because it feels like I am actually watching the third season. I was so disappointed when the last chapter ended on a cliffhanger, but the book was updated yesterday, so I just have to wait for the next update. I won't spoil too much in case any Polin lovers want to read this wonderful story ❤️
Tumblr media
“Fail to unders-” Colin shook his head and took a step closer to her. “I’m sure you are aware that it is a gentleman’s duty to marry a lady should he bring dishonour upon her.”
“Yes, but you’re not a gentleman, you’re Colin,” she interrupted him, her blue eyes boring into his, “You don’t count.”
Taken aback by the explanation, he could only stare at her in disbelief. Those words were familiar to him, yet they made him feel strange.
"Just look at our surroundings," Penelope gestured to the empty room. “We are without a chaperone, as we have been on multiple occasions. Suppose someone were to enter through those doors at this very moment, we would be under an obligation to marry, regardless of whether or not we kissed. So, what difference does it make?”
----
The year is 1815, and Colin Bridgerton devises the brilliant strategy to aid Penelope Featherington in attracting eligible suitors.

To be honest, Penelope received online hate from other character stans since the beginning of the show for her actions. It's not specific to Eloise. Every character has received hate on this show (and it's stupid). Bridgerton fans just kind of suck. when there's no reason to hate on ANY characters at all
Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm new to the Bridgerton fandom (I watched the show for the first time a few months ago), but the comment section under the trailer was so antagonistic toward Eloise when her anger toward Penelope is completely justified.
It just seems like a lot of Penelope's supporters are justifying her behavior as Lady Whistledown instead of acknowledging how harmful her gossip articles have been to almost every woman in the ton.
You're also right about every character receiving hate, and I plan on making another post about that soon.
Also, thank you for sending me a respectful ask. I hope you have a wonderful day, anon!

After rewatching Bridgerton, I finally came to the realization of how horrible Penelope Featherington is. In the trailer for the third season, Eloise is seen befriending Cressida Cowper, and so many of Penelope's supporters began hating on Eloise and calling her selfish and evil.
But what about Penelope who wrote gossip articles about women in the ton?
For example, Daphne and Marina.
In season one, Daphne was called "unmarrigable" by Lady Whistledown, AKA Penelope, which almost ruined her reputation because she struggled to find a husband.
Marrying and having children was extremely important to her. Daphne did absolutely nothing to Penelope, so why on earth would she do that?
I sympathize with Marina. Yes, tricking the Bridgertons was extremely wrong, but I understand her reason. She was a young woman pregnant out of wedlock in the regency era.
Instead of simply telling Colin herself or Eloise, Penelope decided to humiliate Marina by revealing her pregnancy to the entire ton and shame her entire family in the process.
All because Colin was planning on marrying Marina.
Now that's selfish.
In season two, Eloise's relationship with Theo was revealed to the ton by Penelope, which ruined not only Eloise's reputation but the entire Bridgerton family's as well. I understand Penelope wanted to help Eloise because the Queen had assumed that she was Lady Whistledown, but perhaps Penelope could have personally told the Queen about Eloise's relationship with Theo?
Or turned herself in since she cared about Eloise so much.
But instead, she chose to ruin her best friend's life.
That's evil.
But Eloise is a monster for befriending Cressida. Perhaps the reason she decided to become friends with Cressida is that she's the only one to be kind to her since Eloise is currently being shunned by the ton?
Have you ever thought about that Penelope supporters?
Hopefully, Penelope faces consequences for her actions as Lady Whistledown. She can't simply get away with not only tarnishing the reputation of so many people in the ton but talking so badly about the Queen?
I don't despise Penelope in the way I despise book!PhillipCrane. I'm just disappointed by her character because I actually found her quite lovely in the books.

I'm like several years late, but I've realized that Klaus is the middle child amongst his siblings.
The order of the siblings is:
Freya.
Finn.
Elijah.
Niklaus.
Kol.
Rebekah.
Henrik.
Even after the unfortunate and sad deaths of Finn and Henrik, Klaus remained the middle child.
I don't know if that was intentional or purely coincidental ( it definitely could be the latter since Freya was created for the Originals and that spin-off had different writers than TVD) but I just think it perfectly describes Klaus as a character.
Growing up, he had always felt different from his siblings, almost like he didn't belong. He was abused by Mikael more than any of his siblings.
After becoming an original vampire, he still felt like he didn't fit in with his siblings due to the fact that he's their maternal half-brother.
There's a phenomenon called "middle child syndrome" where the child doesn't feel like they have a place in their family.
They may have thoughts like 'no one understands me' or 'no one listens to what I have to say.'
I am NOT excusing any of the sins that Klaus had committed in both shows. I love Klaus and he's one of my favorite characters but he did some pretty fucked up shit.
Like killing a baby for not liking the way they looked???
That was from the books, but still, I think he might have done it since Marcel mentioned him killing a pregnant woman for coughing too loudly in TO, and his character also did that in the books.
Anyway, I just realized this about his character and wanted to make a post about it because I think it's really interesting.
Side note: I have four days off work and have completed all my homework assignments early. I can't wait to write more chapters of my book :)

Damn I just remembered that Damon was a Confederate soldier and so was Jasper Hale from Twilight.
Yikes.

I will ALWAYS find Damon falling in love with Elena as disgustingly creepy because of the fact that he was in his mid-20s when he was turned and Elena was 17 at the time.
Stefan falling in love with her was very creepy as well, but Damon physically looked 25 and he was whining about a 17-year-old child not wanting him and abusing other underaged girls as well.

The Originals was a terrible spin-off for so many reasons, but one of the reasons is that Hope's purpose was to bring the family together, hence her name and Klaus was supposed to be redeemed after becoming a father.
Not only does a redemption arc for a character like Klaus Mikaelson is very unnecessary, he was already a father to Marcel. Klaus raised Marcel since he was ten years old. He raised him in his very image and although there weren't a lot of flashbacks of Marcel's childhood, we were shown many loving moments between Klaus and Marcel.
For those of you who are still in denial, MARCEL IS KLAUS' SON.
If Marcel couldn't change Klaus and give him the redemption many TO fans claim he deserves than what makes you think Hope could?
I don't want to hear the 'She's a girl' crap because we all know it's implied in the spin-off that Hope is the Mikaelson family's redemption because she is Klaus' biological child.
I promise you that if Hope had been a boy and was named Henrik or something, Klaus would have treated him the same.
The entire Mikaelson family would have treated Male Hope better than Marcel.
The Originals is a dumb spin-off that not only destroyed the characters that I loved so much, but created a baby plot that made no sense at all for so many reasons, but one of the reasons is that Klaus was already a father.
The Originals should have been about the Mikaelson family's past, Marcel's childhood, and Klaus and Marcel repairing their father/son relationship.
Julie Plec was obsessed with making another Re-Name-Me Cullen and retconning the lore of TVD just for a plot hole baby that nobody asked for.

The fact that most of the fandom don't even remember who Henrik is even though his death is partially the reason why vampires were created is honestly so sad, but it's the writers' faults for not having the Mikaelsons mention him more.
I mean, he was their brother for crying out loud.
I believe that Henrik should be included more in Mikaelson family edits.
Henrik and Finn.
I understand why Finn is almost never included in any edits featuring the Mikaelson family because he sided with Esther in an attempt to wipe out the entire family.
And while what he did was inexcusable, I understand his reason behind his choice. His younger brother locked him in a coffin for nine hundred years and seemingly forgot about him.
All of his siblings were seemingly unbothered by the fact that he was in a coffin for centuries. Rebekah was so worried when Elijah had been daggered, and his body was abducted by Marcel in the first season of TO, and she practically jumped on him when he returned to the Mikaelson mansion.
Even after Finn made amends with his siblings and they forgave him for siding with their mother to kill them, when he died the Mikaelsons mourned his death for an episode and seemingly forgot about him.
He was never mentioned again. I don't even think Hope knows who he is. She knows that she had an uncle Finn who died when she was a baby, but she doesn't care about him because her family never mentions him.
Finn is a Mikaelson. All of the Mikaelsons attempted to kill one another at one point in their long lives but still cared deeply for one another.
Klaus daggered his siblings whenever they disobeyed him or were attempting to leave him. Elijah spent decades searching for Klaus to kill him because he believed Klaus murdered their siblings. Rebekah contacted Mikael and lured him to New Orleans to kill Klaus because he did not accept her relationship with Marcel. Kol AND Finn plotted to kill Hope when they were revived by Esther in the second season of TO.
So what makes Finn any different?
Also, I hate that so many fans include Hayley in Mikaelson family edits when she herself had stated numerous times throughout seasons one, two, and three of TO that she did not want to be a Mikaelson and she wanted nothing to do with the family.
You can't include her in family edits when she dislikes the family so much. It's only when she needs a babysitter for Hope that she acts cordial towards the Mikaelsons.
Side not: Giving birth to someone doesn't automatically make you family, nor when a family member has feelings for you. Claiming that Hayley is a Mikaelson because she's Hope's mother and Elijah has feelings for her is pretty dumb.
Also, Davina and Keelin are Mikaelsons because they married into the family. Davina is married to Kol, and Keelin is married to Freya. It's so laughable when fans claim that they aren't Mikaelsons when they literally married into the family.
Marcel is a Mikaelson as well because he was raised by Klaus since he was ten years old, and Klaus considers him his son. He also married Rebekah, so yeah, he's a Mikaelson by marriage as well.
CAMILLE IS NOT A MIKAELSON. I don't care that Klaus had an infatuation with her. That doesn't make her family.
Those are my opinions, and I understand that others have different thoughts on what makes someone family. I respect that. But please don't attack me or send me mean messages because you don't like my opinions.
Those are my opinions so please respect them.
Thank you.

In the book I'm writing on Wattpad about The Vampire Diaries, I'm writing fanfiction not only because I really love the show but because I want to give the characters who were mistreated better treatment.
For example, Bonnie.
When I first found out that Kat Graham was denied the right to wear her natural hair on the show, my heart broke for her. She was forced to wear those ugly ass wigs that ended up damaging her real hair, and that got me so mad because her hair is so beautiful. And they didn't even have her wear bonnets to bed like come on 🙄
Also, where was Bonnie during the Mikaelson Ball? Why wasn't she there? I'll tell you why. Because the writers refused to allow her to dress up like the other female characters. Having Bonnie at the Mikaelson Ball made more sense plot wise because of her ancestor's relationship with the Mikaelsons, but I'm gonna talk about that another time. The writers had Bonnie attend school dances instead to hide their dislike toward her and the actress.
And don't get me started on Bonnie's pathetic love interests. That guy she flirted with early season two died right in front of her. Jeremy cheated on her. She made flirtatious eye contact with Kol, but that lasted like five seconds, and the two never interacted again. And while she had Enzo, he was taken from her so soon.
You better believe that Bonnie's gonna have an EPIC ROMANCE in my book. SHE'S GONNA ATTEND ALL THE DANCES AND ALL THE PARTIES. SHE'S GONNA HAVE THE HAIRSTYLES SHE SHOULD HAVE HAD. And the Bennett family is gonna have A LOT more importance in my book because, in my opinion, there wouldn't even be a TVDU without the Bennett witches.
Another example, Caroline.
YOU BETTER BELIEVE SHE'S GONNA GET THE JUSTICE SHE DESERVED AFTER WHAT DEMON SALVAWHORE DID TO HER SEASON 1. That shit isn't gonna get glossed over. Not in my story.
And how can I forget Finn? Listen I'm gonna forget the shit he pulled in TO cause I don't consider that show canon. TVD stopped making sense in the later episodes of season four. I understand Finn. I understand why he sided with his mom. Should he have attempted to kill his siblings? No. But I get it. His younger brother locked him in a coffin for nine hundred years and forgot about him. He became a VAMPIRE and was forced to feed on people to survive. And lots of fans like to leave him out of Mikaelson Family Edits so I get his anger and frustration.
I get it.
Okay, I'm done ranting. I have class in thirty seconds, um, go read my book it's really good. I'm updating again really soon.
See you next time 🥰

I never write anything on Tumblr, and I feel kinda weird doing it, but after having one hundred people literally attack me on Tik Tok because of my opinion, I had to write this hoping that TVD fans would see this (even ones who agree with the below) so you can send this to whoever you know who don't.
Let's get one thing straight to those of you who still don't get it.
Hayley is NOT and WILL NEVER BE a Mikaelson. And it's not because she's Klaus' baby mama because even baby mamas are viewed as family. My cousin impregnated a girl last year, and she immediately became a part of our family (she was already a part of our lives even before that because she and my cousin were childhood friends) but still we would have called her family if we never met her before because that's the kind of people we are.
Hayley is not a Mikaelson because throughout TO, she had used the Mikaelsons for her own personal gain, especially in seasons two and three. She's a Mikaelson whenever it is convenient for her. Like Rebekah had said, whenever Hayley needed someone to watch, Hope she would barge into the Mikaelson Mansion like she owned the place, dump Hope onto Freya's or Rebekah's laps, and leave for several days, and then return, take Hope back, and leave, all while claiming the family is toxic and would emotionally and mentally damage Hope or whatever.
Hayley literally told Rebekah to her face in season three that her family has so much drama but got mad at Elijah earlier that season because he didn't invite her to a family meeting they were having at the mansion. That's why I don't believe she's a Mikaelson and that is my opinion of course. Sure, she became less hypocritical toward them in the last two seasons, but still, I can never get over how she acted towards them in the earlier seasons.
Hayley was homeless and needed a place to stay, and Klaus gladly welcomed her into his home. Even after she gave birth to Hope, he could have thrown her out, but he still allowed her to continue living in the mansion until she married Jackson and moved out. And I'm not saying Klaus is a saint because he's not, and I am also not saying that he's a good person because he's not, but still. For him to do that and even stand up for her when the wolves were disrespecting her and for her to attempt to run away with their daughter without even telling him (I understand her reason but still that was wrong just like him leaving her in wolf form for six months) is just really f*cked up of her.
Yeah, I think I'm gonna start writing on here from now on. It's fun.
