The Keys to Happiness

Hey folks! I was going to try to do the prompt "Instrument" yesterday but developed a headache that made writing super hard. So it's here today instead! For this prompt I returned to some characters I made for the Far From Home universe, owned and created by @therealbrigeedarocks (with some extra fun over at @askfarfromhome).

Mindy’s eyes were still puffy from an earlier burst of emotions she couldn’t really help. She stood with her arms crossed, leaning against the bars of her cage and staring across the open space in there with her. She had some basic furniture, things that came with her from the shop, a “human starter kit” they’d called it. A bed, a small sofa, and even a table with a chair were arranged somewhat haphazardly in there. All part of the package in which Mindy had been the central prize.

She thought back to another time, when she’d gone to a carnival with her family. There had been a booth giving out goldfish in little bags. She’d even tried to win one, but her raffle ticket was never called.

She hadn’t seen her home in a few years now. Back home, humans were normal. Here, they were pests, or pets, just little things to be bought up by a carnival and given out as raffle prizes.

What is the general attitude on human/Tergaian romantic relationships? (I feel like it would be the last thought in the minds of anti-human giants XD)

i haven't given an actual romantic relationship any thought cuz as previously stated writing romance/the romance genre ain't exactly my cup of tea

but i have had to give a thought to whether it should or shouldn't be allowed in the future of ffh/tergaia

it would give Humans an equal footing socially but it's also awkward after you know centuries of being considered pests but it should be a free country to love who you love but how do you tell if it is or isn't a relationship made under duress and aaaarrrrrggghhhhhhh god why did i decide to write a story about regaining personhood and shit can't we go back to the woods and pretend politics doesn't exist

Do humans have a longer history than Tergaian's, or is it the other way around? Just thinking of the magic and technology difference. Humans would have different survival skills and such.

i'd say they in the same general century-ish in terms of history: not the same level of tech as Humans but still advanced enough to be considered modern-ish

Okay, scrap that last question. Is magic Tergaian's only advantage? Did they progress in some ways faster? Were they primitive for a longer time than humans were?

i mean, they do have the height thing

but i wouldn't say they progressed faster, just on a different path. they don't have moving pictures or automobiles after all. i'd say they stuck with their niche (magic) long enough to keep it healthy and active so there are a bunch of things Humans have done (the aforementioned movies and cars but also we've been to our moon and Tergaians haven't considered it a possibility yet) while/after our own magic was neglected/left to die out
