anniversary book club post #1 - the how of pooh!

obviously i'll go first since i'm the crazy person in charge! sort of! lol i've never run one of these book clubs (or even been a part of one really, unless school counts! lol) before so please ignore my lack of decorum! lol

So first thing I took in this time while reading the first chapter was how the "Three Teachings" of China mirror the human experience! What I mean by that is that Confucius (K'ung Fu-tse) teaches us about the rules of this world and what is expected of us. Aka the teachings of others. So this could include our parents, our religious ceremonies we were raised in and other teachings from our ancestors. It's what other people have already figured out about this world and they're trying to bestow it upon us.

It's like our background work and the building block to our stability! A place to jump from. I would describe these years as child to young adult. A lot of learning and taking in of information. Which can of course be a sour time because being a student isn't easy! lol

The Buddha teachings to me represent the young adult to mid/older adult range in my mind. You take what you learned from others in your time and teachings of Confucius to try and navigate the landscape of Earth to do the best that you can! But of course, because you are on your own for the first time, it feels like "the world was seen as a setter of traps, a generator of illusions, a revolving wheel of pain for all creatures" (hoff, 1982).

The world can seem like such a hard and scary place when you are learning to actively use the teaching of Confucius (and others in your life who raised you) in your day-to-day life. Especially if the people before you never experienced what you are experiencing (because the human experience is also always changing and evolving!) and make it taste bitter because you are sometimes learning on your own or in the dark!

And finally the teachings of Taoism, represent when you are able to see through the illusions of earth with the help of people who taught you before (Confucius) and your own life experiences (Buddha) to find harmony in your human experience. It's about finding your own natural law so that you can be "in essence a reflection of heaven, run by the same laws - not by the laws of men" (Hoff, 1982).

So the teachings of Taoism represent an older adult or elder who has gone through all these "Three Teachings" of China and has found the Tao or, "the Way". I would almost call this "the Journey of the Elder" because you do not become wise without first learning and revering the way of our ancestors (once again, this is Confucius teachings) and then experiencing first-hand the world (the teachings of Buddha) to lastly find Tao ("the Way"). Where you learn to smile through your journey!

Aka you will probably be all three teachings in your lifetime! woot! lol

Such amazing stuff here! I hope I described it okay! It's pretty much the journey of the human! First you learn, then you experience, then you know the way. Ugh! It's so beautiful, complex and simple all at the same time!

omg our first book club discussion!!!

it's so true about it being filled with valuable lessons! because once you can reframe your mind into that position, you are practically unstoppable! it's sort of silly but i'm seeing like saiyans in my mind's eye and like how this race of aliens never gave up no matter what. lol it's the same thing with you and your dreams! in some way for it to be truly your dream, it needs to be something you feel unstoppable about!

it gives a good area of where to start as well! like when the vinegar is bitter, do you feel the need to try again anyways? lol

because let's be honest, it's only by the taoist continue to taste at the bitter vinegar do they begin to appreciate it? lol which totally ties into your swimming example! i love that! it's really only by relaxing and continuing on, do we learn how to swim!

same! i love how winnie the pooh is a great example and teacher all in one! lol so adorable too! we should almost add an episode of winnie the pooh to watch as extra material for one of these discussions!

i don't blame you! i know i prefer the harmony and vibing stage for sure! but the starting hum when you start to try and harmonize with the universe is just as pretty as the clear sync-up will inevitably be! i swear it! lol

it's april, which means it's my yearly tarot anniversary here on atmymercy! eee! i'm so excited and i decided to create this post to inform you all about what i have planned!

for my two-year anniversary!!!

april anniversary event - my thank you message!!!

oh god. where do i even start? i'm so thankful and grateful to you all. i try and always show that to you because i want you all to know how much i do care and appreciate you. i wish i could always answer every message or reading that comes my way because i want to be a shining spot in your life and help you along the way if i can! it means so much to me whenever you guys appear and we get to connect!

i thought a fun way to say thank you this year would be to tell you the reason behind the name/url atmymercy! i'm an avid overwatch player! at least that starts off the story! lol i love the game, overwatch and it was my very first shooter game! of course, i fell in love with the character, mercy! she didn't need to aim in the game and she could go around healing people with her light beam!

lol does this sound familiar yet?

anyways! lolol i've always connected with the role of healer/helper. i'm not one for the violence or shooting (though i play a mean ana or zen too! lol) but my heart will always be called to helping and uplifting others. i don't need to be the main focus! i'm okay with being the cheerleader on the side! lol it's just who i am!

so i changed my url years ago after loving the character, mercy before i even added the tarot aspect to this blog! the only time i considered changing it is when i did add the tarot part to this blog and realized that - no, its name was already deeply situated in spirituality and self-empowerment that i always wanted to be connected with already! it was already serendipity and meant to be! lol

atmymercy can sound scary if you let it. omg! i'm at her mercy! ahhh! run for the hills! lolol but actually it's really not that mysterious. it's about surrendering and choosing mercy when your ego and mind want to fight you. why? because change is hard! so yeah, there is a bit of a trust fall when you come to me because in a way i feel like the hermit card and i'm here holding the lantern for you and it's dark. you might be a bit scared and uncertain. but i hold this lantern for us both so that even when you do feel scared or hopeless, i can help shine a bit of light and brightness into your life for a moment and hopefully show you where your path is trailing off to.

so yes, you are at my mercy but i'm also at yours because i'm determined to stand here and hold this lantern for anyone who may need a touch of my light today or any day.

i'm not going anywhere. i'm here to show you my mercy and kindness in any way i can and i hope you can shine like a star in response!

april anniversary - new addition announcement!

oh gosh! i have to admit i've been nervous about this one! like butterflies in my stomach and my arms feel all jittery! there's a reason why i love writing! i get to write my words and then leave. i don't have to stick around and see the reactions. i can just write my words and still be pretty damn anonymous as well!

i like being a mystery. an enigma!

but i keep getting called to do more so i'm trying to be brave (as i always tell you all to do!) and i can't talk the talk and not also walk the walk! so here's my atmymercy tiktok!

i love this book! i read it when i was younger and again when i was having my spiritual awakening so i feel like it's only meant to be that it's also the first book in our little book club!

April Events

it's april, which means it's my yearly tarot anniversary here on atmymercy! eee! i'm so excited and i decided to create this post to inform you all about what i have planned!

for my two-year anniversary!!!

please be patient while i get everything set up (we are in mercury retrograde so i'll be doing my best but we all know things could be a little messy right now so please be patient with me!)

i'll be using this post to show the overall things i have for this month going on! so check back later and watch this post fill up! woot!
