I don’t believe we have, SO.

Let’s do this.

So for our dear Junpei “JP” Shibayama:

Honestly, I don’t think he ever gets over his crush on Izumi. In fact, I think the more he hangs out with her, that crush continues to grow.

That being said, he’s not the jealous type. He’s the patient type, and he doesn’t let his feelings get in the way of being a good friend.

I think he does start working out, and he enjoys doing it. For him, it’s a great way to work out his stress after a long day, and he feels great afterwards.

He also starts running with his magic tricks- starting a little side business of performing said tricks at parties. Sometimes he will pull someone from the squad as an assistant- Kouji is the usual pick.

Tbh he might be the most stable in the friend group? I think everyone goes to vent to him about their problems… but he does have his limits, and to cope he will either go work out or hang out with his Aunt Mabel to get it off his mind.

My hc is that he lives with his Aunt Mabel. Idk what happened to his parents, really, but Aunt Mabel is a super cool parental figure. Also she definitely has one of those purse dogs.

He likes to watch the food channel when he has some alone time, and I think he likes having the alone time to give his brain a chance to reset.

I have mentioned this one before, but at one point JP gets a girlfriend, who he likes a whole lot. But he knows, and she knows, that his feelings for Izumi are way stronger, so she lets him go.

That being said, they probably remain friends.

He has nicknames for everyone in the squad. Takuya is Taky, Takuyaki, and/or Goggle Man. Kouji is Wolfy or Ponyboy. Izumi is Z. Tomoki is Bud or Tommy. Kouichi is The Quiet One or Mr. Whiskers.

Usually the ones who get referred to by nickname are Takuya and Kouji, though.

For some reason I think he’s the most tech savvy out of the group, like eventually he studies something like IT in college.

Kouji has no patience dealing with his dad’s constant questions about his computer, so he always says “Ask Junpei”.

He tells Aunt Mabel a lot about his friends. He also knows Aunt Mabel will give any of them a place to stay if they ever need it.

I think he says goodbye to the jumpsuits and starts wearing jeans and sweatshirts. He cringes whenever someone mentions the jumpsuit.

His star sign….. god, he might be an Aries. I get slight Aries vibes.

And yes, he still loves chocolate. Very much.

HI YES SORRY the burnout is real

But certainly!

For starters- there’s the obvious “hey, wow, I have a crush on Takuya oh god gay panic what do I d o”

Kouichi is a soft bean, but he does have a limit to how much Actual Bullshit™ that he can tolerate. If you pass that threshold, you better be prepared to RUN.

His patience is still much higher than Kouji’s.

I don’t think he’d outright punch someone, though. I think that he’d cut into you with his words instead.

Which ties into my HC that he’s a writer. :3

He plays DnD, and his favorite class to play? The bard.

I think the squad goes to him for help on their essays once in a while, when they’re really stuck. They don’t wanna bother him.

When really, he’s more than happy to help any time they ask!

He doesn’t like red pen, instead he’ll write critiques/etc in green pen. Red pen hurts his eyes.

While his brother is all about that Norse mythology, Kouichi is super interested in Egyptian mythology. He’s like a walking encyclopedia for ancient Egypt.

Yes this ties into his love for cats a little bit.

I think he’s come up with multiple ways to confess to Takuya prior to love letters. One of those included writing a song and having Kouji sing it.

Kouji said Hell No.

Ironically, he’s scared of the dark.

Kouichi calls emojis emotes.

He’s a lot more forgiving of his mother than he is of his father for the lie. He still has a difficult time trusting her for some time, but he’s a lot more understanding because he knows that she had to keep up the lie.

He does have a nice long talk with her though, advising how he feels knowing that he was lied to for such a long time.

Seeing as he barely knows Kousei, though, he’s a lot more reluctant to pursue a relationship with him knowing what he knows now.

Eventually he does try, though.

On gloomy days, he will write poems for Kouji to translate into music. Those are his best poetry days.

He prefers elevators and escalators, for Obvious Reasons.

In fact, for the longest time he’s very reluctant to use stairs after almost dying.

Sometimes he writes fanfiction. Look. Sometimes things are written poorly, or the ending to a book is Bullshit™, and sometimes fans can write things better. Sue him.

He doesn’t tell anyone though. Until someone finds his fanfiction.net account.

While red pen hurts his eyes, red is one of his favorite colors.

He can make a mean hamburger if he wants to. This makes Kouji jealous. IYKYK.

And I think that’s it.

HERE WE GOOOOOOOO

Starting with the obvious, he’s a musician. Singer/guitarist, mainly. :>

Kouji gives me Scorpio vibes. Something about him gives me those vibes.

He takes MMA classes as well. Explains why he Can and Will beat someone up if needed.

While Takuya and Kouichi are oblivious when someone has crushes on them, Kouji picks up on it right away when someone likes him.

He always gets flustered, like “really? ME of all people?”

As a shocker to Absolutely Nobody, he loves dogs.

He has a huge interest in Norse mythology, and will name pets after Norse gods/goddesses/creatures/etc.

Hence he names the cat Takuya gets for Kouichi Loki.

He has super bad social anxiety when it comes to new people, but once he gets used to them his snarky personality comes back out.

Kouji is a Little Bastard and loves to mess with the others in the squad.

He still has that bandana. Always and forever. Even when he stops wearing it for good. That bandana brings back some memories, so he keeps it safe somewhere. Yes, people think it’s weird.

Sometimes he wonders why everyone else keeps him around. Then they make him feel Loved and Appreciated and he feels a little better.

When he’s mad at Kousei, he hides his glasses somewhere during the night. Yes, this leads to shenanigans the next morning. Satomi pretends she does not see it.

When someone says “you can’t do that, because you’re [x gender]”, he says “gender is one of the many lies my father told me growing up. Do whatever you want.”

No but he is a firm believer of Fuck Gender, Who Cares

When he has a crush on someone, it’s pretty subtle unless you try and get him talking about romantic things. Then he gets flustered.

No, he is never going to cut his ponytail. He will trim the dead ends. But that is all.

Sometimes Kouichi helps him write songs.

As such, Kouichi sometimes writes lines about Takuya and Kouji goes “this is corny as hell” in a teasing tone.

Junpei does magic shows throughout high school. Do you know what this Bandana Wolfy McEdgerson does? …Plays the background music for it on his guitar because he loves his friends and supports everything they do.

That is it for now else I start going on and on. Can you tell I love this boy with my whole heart? Not that I don’t love the others he’s just my comfort character ok

Oh, a tricky one I see.

Let’s do it.

Starting with the obvious (mentioned in my last ask), she and Takuya are the social butterflies of the group (pun very much intended)

Not sure if this is canon to begin with, but her mom is from Italy, which is why she lived there for years.

She does not like Italian chain restaurants. Why go to a chain when you can just make the real thing?

Izumi is an athlete for sure- mostly does cheer and gymnastics. But during band season, she does color guard too!

She probably spends some time in high school trying to change her aesthetic too, like Takuya. This includes dyeing her hair on multiple occasions.

Ultimately, she goes with casual and feminine- jeans, looser blouses, some dresses… cute but not too fancy.

Izumi is whip smart. Not only does she have killer grades, but she can quickly shut you down with a very, very clever comeback.

She’s also a very No Bullshit type of person. And boy is she stubborn about it.

She and Takuya still butt heads occasionally because of this.

Izumi likes to paint abstract pictures. It’s especially fun when she uses spray paints to make something cool.

She’s the type of friend who will have extras of something because she knows someone will need it. Extra hair ties? She got you. Extra pencil? Yep. Extra pads? Absolutely.

Izumi may not be musically talented, but she can whip you up a mean playlist to jam out to. She absolutely loves music. And when her friends have birthdays, she makes them their own special playlists every year.

Sometimes she’ll suggest bad shows that she and the squad can roast together. As a result, they have so many inside jokes referencing said shows.

Sometimes she’ll mention a word she only learned in Italian and people will look at her confused until they figure out what she’s talking about.

She does this on purpose in order to mess with Kouji.

There’s this doll tea set she was given as a kid that she keeps because it means a lot to her. She’s the only one who can touch it.

Sometime later in high school she starts tutoring for money. Tomoki is her first tutee.

Her mom still leaves notes in her lunch until after high school- and when she goes off to college, it feels very weird not having said notes. So instead her mom will send her a text.

\*cracks knuckles* Here we go

Short king, first and foremost.

He’s absolutely captain of the soccer team.

Trans Takuya rights!

He’s also very much pansexual, it doesn’t matter what you identify as, if y’all vibe y’all Vibe.

Takuya has had to give both Kouji and Kouichi pep talks. Especially in regards to public speaking. And by that I mean he will grab them by the shoulders, say You Can Fucking Do it, and say There You Go Go Get ‘Em Champ

He and Izumi are the most social of the group.

I have said this but he is Clueless when it comes to people having a crush on him. It requires the entire squad’s assistance when Kouichi tells them he has a crush on Takuya.

He’s a chill guy most of the time until you set him off, in which case things get explosive. He didn’t get the spirit of fire for no reason.

A lot of his dreams go back to the digital world. Said dreams are usually bizarre, one time he dreamt himself as Crusadermon and was in a burger making contest… and somehow won. Kouichi was there, and so was Kouji. Both were in penguin costumes selling used shoes. Nothing about that dream made sense.

He doesn’t have any pets, but if he were to have one, he’d have some sort of reptile.

He claims to hate cats, but gets Kouichi a cat (with Tomoko’s permission) because Kouichi is not in a good state and a cat would be good for him (also he loves him v much and wants to see him happy)

That being said, he becomes one of those guys who claims to hate cats, but will make an exception for this one cat.

The squad has heard more than once “I’m sick of this, I’m going to go start a sheep farm somewhere” from his mouth.

He almost starts one.

Instead he goes to the salon and gets an undercut.

It’s a very good undercut.

His aesthetic changes a little going into high school- he starts getting into flannel and dark jeans. He does keep goggles at all times, but without the hat.

He oversleeps a LOT. It’s almost a problem.

I think that’s it.

Everybody say it with me now:

Kouji is not, actually, just a moody introvert, but emotionally stunted from emotional neglect, grief, and a lack of social experience. Kouji is not, actually, a know-it-all who pretends to not need help, but stuck in a new, dangerous environment unable to ask or reach out for help due to valid trust issues, abandonment issues, and the learned trait of self-dependence out of necessity. Kouji can, actually, form deep bonds and communicate with others when they don’t emotionally scar him for life, and proceeds to do so multiple times. Kouji does, in fact, have feelings that are mentally repressed for the majority of the season.

Digimon Frontier, episode 25:

“Don’t forget, young Kouji, I know your heart. Even when you have friends, you won’t allow yourself to be happy. Always in your mind, you prepare for the time they will leave. That is your greatest weakness.”

“Weak? I call it realistic. Everybody leaves, that’s a fact of life. I just want to be prepared for it. I don’t need friends, or family!”

(Bonus: his father is, in fact, a piece of work.)

(Double bonus: Takuya is always the first person to reach out to Kouji or even consider his feelings. Not even Kouichi did so without Kouji initiating said building relationship on Takuya’s advice. Takuya and Kouji have the strongest bond and character growth in the entire season and it was only because they had each other.)
