"....but at the end of the day, you're you and I'm me.” I really do hate the fact that Thor basically told his brother that he's better then him and left him roasting on the floor. Thor a positioned himself as good and never has to reflect on how he mistreated Loki all because too many writers can't handle how someone can both be a victim of mistreatment and still a villain
I mean whether or not Loki is a villain is debatable. He is a morally gray character that sometimes played the role of the villain. But he has also been an antagonist and an anti-hero. He was a complex character that was hard to define and put into a box and the other issue was that he wasn't a perfect victim. So they tried to reduce him to a simple troublemaker and villain, and blame him for everything. Because they can't understand that everything isn't black and white. The protagonist isn't perfect and can make mistakes, the antagonist can be right and shouldn't change who they are just to be accepted.

I'm really sorry it seems like 2012/2013 again in the fandom.
I wasn't actually on tumblr in 2012/2013. I was a lurker at those years. But I still think those days were better? Weren't day? In my experience, the current state of fandom is worse than anything I experienced since 2017.

I am cackling that freaking LOKI put more effort into not breaking spacetime than Strange who was just like "haha LULZ lets do some magic"
loki, fresh off his recent attempt at world domination, a literal chaotic trickster god: oh man 😬 this multiverse stuff sounds like something we uh. probably shouldn't mess with 😬
doctor strange, md, phd, sorcerer supreme, entrusted with protecting reality as we know it: YOLO 🤪🧙‍♂️☄💥🔥

Am I the only one who feels like Loki feels more like Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty then Loki in the TV series, or is it just me? It feels more like Rick and Morty than anything Marvel.
Nope, you are definitely not the only one who feels that way! And someone made a very good video about that specific issue with some great scene examples. I recommend watching it.
Besides this, MW was one of the writers for Rick and Morty. After reading his horrible sci-fi romcom script and rewatching some Rick and Morty episodes, it really is just apparent to me that NOTHING in the Loki series was specifically written for Loki. It's just a bunch of plot ideas from MW's sci-fi romcom, together with a bunch of ideas that have already been used in Rick and Morty. This is the laziest type of story-writing you can come up with, and it just shows that MW has no unique ideas, or that he puts "hard work" in anything. He just reuses old stuff (that was invented even way before Rick and Morty) and exchanges the characters’ names. Hence the reason why Loki doesn't act and talk like Loki at all in the tv series.
It's just the same as 50 Shades of Shit originally being a Twilight fanfic, they just exchanged the names of the characters.
And quite frankly, Rick and Morty explained various timelines and their variants way way better than the Loki show did.
As for Loki being like Rick Sanchez. That’s just another thing about MW’s “great” writer abilities: Not only can he only write female characters as simple badass action girls. He can also only write male characters as horrible, narcissistic assholes, who lack emotional connection, but are actually just very lonely on the inside. That’s the common trait Show!Loki, Rick and MW’s OC from his sci-fi romcom share.
But god do I wish Loki was a little bit more like Rick in the series. Because even though Rick is a horrible person, he is at least a brilliant scientist, and moves the plot forward. In the end, he always has the upper hand. He is not the butt of everyone's joke. Absurd as well as interesting stuff happens all the time, because (mostly) due to Rick. Rick Sanchez is more the God of Mischief and the Trickster than Loki is in his entire series.
So, I’m afraid I have to say this (stolen YT comment):
“Loki was supposed to be a Rick, but he wasn’t even a Morty.”

I haven’t seen a single “What If” episode, but from your description I fear that this is exactly how the Loki episode is going to be.
*sigh*
I’m getting really tired of MCU telling us to forgive our abusers/abusive parents, and that they just meant well and truly loved us.
"What If" gave Thanos a redemption arc. Why am I not surprised. He is their fave character after all. They portrayed him as someone who meant well! He just needed another perspective! He loved Nebula! Ugh. I found the whole thing disgusting.
From what we've seen so far in What If, they portray characters with the same characterization as MCU but in different situations. And that's how they see Thanos. Not an abuser and torturer but a good guy who chose wrong. It's gross to say the least.
By this logic I'm almost sure that Loki's episode is going to show him as a power hungry villain who betrays everyone. Because that's how MCU sees him. Sigh.

#wait some people missed that loki was talking about himself!?
Tbh, some people missed a lot of things about Loki in general.

I’m slowly starting to get the feeling that, of all the female characters that have some relation to Loki (especially as his lovers) in the comics, MW only settled for the name “Sylvie”, because it sounds the closest to “Dixie”.

All I wanted from the Loki series was about Loki. Using he’s magic/powers more. Exploring his true heritage and accepting it. If they could’ve, explain his torture with his time with Thanos. There’s going to be a season two but I don’t know if it should happen, the damage is already done.
Same, bruh, same. That's what we all wanted. Or at least part of the people who claim to like Loki.
Others are maybe just happy that they have new food for their shippings. Or maybe they're just happy that they have, in general, something new to think about, especially in these trying times we live in. Or maybe people have to decide between: "Well, I either accept his shitty ending in IW. Or I take the new chance of him being alive, and maybe getting a better ending after that, no matter how ridiculous it's going to be."
So, if it's any consolation: Even without the show and everything leading up to it in EG. Loki's canon arc would've ended with his shitty death in IW. And even without that, Loki's arc would've ended with his death in TDW. No matter how you look at it and turn it around, Disneymarvel never planned to give Loki a good ending.
Maybe Whedon was the last person who cared about Loki (he even WANTED to give him a cameo in AOU, he was just forced to cut that.) Maybe Whedon would've given Loki a different ending, if he would’ve continued the Infinity Saga instead of the Russos.
But that idea has long been dead and gone.
And to all the people who are still hoping that Season 2 is going to be better:
You know, that’s exactly what Disneymarvel wants you to think (Consume Product. Be Hyped For Next Product). All marketing for Season 1 was already based on LIES. MW has even said that he doesn’t care for fan’s wishes and fanservice (whatever he defines as fanservice).
So... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You Loki fans/ Loki fans deserve so much better than you gotten over the years. But I have a painful thought, what if Tom Hiddleston never cared about Loki. Because if he cared, he would’ve done exactly what the fandom wanted and this series would’ve been great.
Thanks for pressing F for us Loki fans, it is really appreciated! <3
Marvel pretty much fucked up every character with either IW or EG. *presses F for Natasha, Steve, Tony and Bruce fans and every other character that I've forgotten* But out of all these characters, we really have to admit that Loki is the one who has gotten major and royally fucked up the most.
Tbh, I don't want to start a discussion of whether TH loves or hates the show, because we simply don't know. We can't look into his brain. We are neither his family, nor friends nor his neighbours. All we can do is to take what he says in interviews for granted, and that's it.
I personally highly doubt that TH never cared about Loki, for the sole reason that it's his most popular role, the one that made him famous. He has expressed nothing but gratitude and excitement for the role during all of these years (Compared to CH who has openly expressed that he doesn’t want to play Thor anymore). TH even went so far to defend Loki in various interviews and shows, as soon as people claimed that he was "just a villain":

I think, if he really hated to play Loki, then he would've just accepted his fate in IW, decline the offer for his own show, and moved on to other projects.
Yeah, there is the good chance that TH might have changed his mind about Loki after the major success of TR. There is the chance he is maybe more or less forced to change his mind, because TR is more a reboot than a sequel. There is the chance that he is just very open to different interpretations of Loki and just rolls with whatever the next writer gives him. Or maybe it's more personal, and he is just happy that he is able to do more comedy than drama as Loki now.
We simply don't know.

oh to think marvel never had a cohesive plan for bruce banner, and rather than tap into the comic book material (abusive father with anger issues who murdered his mom in front of him, fear of being a real like monster like him) the left him with an empty backstory and used him as a plot device, changing his personality to fit the film he was in, going from sarcastic and competent scientist capable of controlling the hulk, to a meek and tired man out of control, to the butt end of a joke, and how “professor hulk” was the worst possible end for mcu bruce banner bc the haphazard and patchwork character they presented us had no reason to merge his personas. professor hulk wasn’t the best of both worlds, and in fact bruce & hulk lost some of their best qualities when they merged. hulk lost anger and fire and “hulk smash”. bruce lost his humbleness (he hated being in the spotlight and now he’s a celebrity?), his dedication to his friends, and his quiet nature. AND of course bc bruce banner was never marvels or the fandoms favorite, we just have to accept the way his characters development was basically thrown into the trash
