you say you’re ugly, but you’ve never seen yourself when your favourite song comes on the radio and you smile wide. you’ve never seen yourself laugh while you read, or cry about a sad movie, or sigh softly when you lay down after a long day. you’ve never seen the way your eyes sparkle in the summer, or the way you close your eyes and smile slightly when you drink cocoa on a winter evening. you’ve never seen yourself open an incredible gift, or burst into laughter.

you say you’re ugly, but you’ve only ever seen yourself through a mirror and a camera lens, poised and reflected. you’ve never seen the pure beauty that radiates from you every day in everything you do.

be kinder to yourself, you’re a gorgeous soul.

here's to the people whose trauma didn't make them kind and soft. here's to the people who hardened, who had to turn cold in order to survive. here's to the people who had to become cruel or maybe even violent just to keep themselves safe.

you're not monsters. you did what you had to do to make it out. and you did. you survived. and i hope you can find healing. i love you.

Maybe you shouldn’t be focused on trying to be who you were before trauma, or if your trauma happened as a child… trying to figure out who you could have been.

Maybe your energy is better spent on figuring out who you are now and accepting that you’ve changed and that it’s okay to have changed.

You’re still as worthy and valuable as you would have been without trauma. You’re still important and worth loving. I promise.

this is so corny but seriously if you’ve never been good at being normal stop trying to be normal it’s literally impossible just embrace your oddities and pursue an unrestrained lifelong summer

Some people just don't understand how validating a diagnosis can be. Like with my parents, they worried that getting a diagnosis would be "letting it define me," and that "there's no point in confirming what we already know." But having a professional sit down and tell you you're not faking or overreacting is so relieving. Of course, there are downsides and not everybody feels the need for one, but if someone wants a diagnosis, listen to them.

AAA I got a new friend!

This is Butternut! My newest (but technically oldest) jellycat! I found her on the loved before plushie adoption website and she was too cute to resist!

I tried to find out what her jellycat name was and I found out she is a bunglie kitty! They were retired in 2008 so shes pretty old!

I just really wanted to share her here, everyone deserves to see her!
