I admit it. I have WINGED so many fics in the past. I had no fucking clue where I was going and it just happened...and scary enough, it ended up WORKING.

Voodoo magic.

Annnnnnnd I have other fics where I have LOADS of docs that are basically post-it notes, timelines, tiny ass details, future points in chapters that I need to build up to or make sure my red-herrings or real clues fed to readers. God damnit I even have diagrams for timelines, time skips, dates, born-died, personalities, relationships....

And I wonder why I'm a bundle of stress and anxiety.

Writing is either:

Bust out a 10k chapter, no beta needed in one sitting and post that bitch the next day after one proofread

I'm one of those that LOVES 'devastating', 'bittersweet', etc, etc...

I'm no good at writing 'happy endings' in my fics and I tend to love bittersweet endings or even when the villain technically wins.

OR when a killer cliffhanger leaves going "oh holy fucking SHIT what just happened omg I'm dying here" and have to wait until the next season.

Readers filtering stories using 'kudos', 'comments', 'word count', 'hits' are seriously missing out of some great writing. I've read brilliant one-shots, short fics and epic-long novel fics.

Give them all a shot. You'll be surprised at what you're missing.

Fanfic tiktok is wild... I see so many people saying shit like "I could never read anything below 60k!!", or "What story can you even tell in under 5k words?" or "A oneshot below 10k isn't even a story!" or "I always filter completed fics by 100k< only!"

And I'm like...

A) which fandoms are you reading fics for where you have this kind of offerings on the regular?

B) have you heard of short stories? If you truly think every story NEEDS to be longform to connect with people, I sincerely feel sorry for you.

C) Average novel length is between 50k to 100k. I'm sorry, but CONSISTENTLY demanding fic writers to push out fics of that length is insane. Just think about it: YOU DEMAND AUTHORS TO PUT OUT FICS THAT COMPARE TO COMMERCIAL NOVELS IN LENGTH (AND QUALITY) AS A BASELINE.

So, I'm a walking yeast infection. Yea! Biology!!!

Having a vagina honestly sucks bc it's like you have to do fucking alchemy just to prevent yourself from getting sick. You've got an intricate ecosystem of microorganisms down there that you're dependent on for your own well-being and they can be set off by the tiniest fucking thing

Keeping your pubes too short can cause yeast infections, but letting them get too long can also cause yeast infections. Washing the area with specialized soap can help prevent yeast infections, but it can also cause them. Your periods can cause yeast infections, and so can the medicine you take to stop your periods. Having sex can cause yeast infections, especially if the person you're having sex with is diabetic (???). Being diabetic can cause yeast infections. Wearing the wrong clothes or eating the wrong things can cause yeast infections. Not getting enough fucking sleep can cause yeast infections. The list is neverending

Luckily, yeast infections are fairly easy to treat with OTC medicine that you can find at any Walmart. BUT! Even if all of your symptoms indicate that you have a yeast infection, you have to take a test first to confirm that it's a yeast infection (they do not sell the tests at Walmart) bc you might actually have the opposite of a yeast infection (bacterial vaginosis) which has the exact same symptoms as a yeast infection but is caused by an imbalance of different microorganisms. And if you use yeast infection medicine to treat a bacterial infection it will light your pussy on fire. So if you have a bacterial infection, you must instead visit your local witch doctor (gynecologist) and get prescribed special potions (antibiotics) to treat it
