Had Hel been cold without her? Fenja didn’t ever feel cold as she could lay naked in freezing water for hours without noticing. She studied Hel’s soft features with admiration before crouching down to hide underneath the blankets with her. For a moment she felt guilty for disturbing her rest but it swiftly washed away as they clung to each other. Tangled close enough to feel the Goddess beating heart as they shared an embrace. It had been some time and yet it felt like home as Hel rested her head against Fenja’s neck. Fenja met the soft whispers with love confessions and caressing fingers along red locks. Heaving chests pressed against each other. “I know. I know my love.” It came out in a tender whisper while she collected her thoughts. “I must confess there was a moment when I nearly took a new lover but I couldn’t. I was longing for you Hel.” Fenja spoke quietly before falling silent in wait for her response.  @helreginn
@cursedwanderer asked:
Send 🌑 to crawl into bed with my muse
Hel sighed softly as she lifted the blankets in front of her ribs, ready for Fenja to slip into the bed with her. It was peculiar - to all but them - how Hel, who had been so cozy under blankets was cold and Fenja brought a warmth to the embrace they easily fell into. Hel smiled, whispering affectionately as she nuzzled her chin in between Fenja's shoulder and neck, "You're here late. I was not expecting you. Everything is alright?"

Fenja gave her a faint smile at the comment. “You seem to be quite familiar with them, the Gods.” As a young spirit she had never met the Gods but they lived in every ritual, prayer and story. People believed them to be watching from afar only to intervene when it was necessary. There had been stories that once were known to everyone regardless of age and sex characteristics but many legends had died out or been distorted over time. Many Gods had fallen from memory as their stories had never been written down.
She was not overly fond of the horror stories that made either Tor or Oden heroes as they hunted her own kind. Many written documents treated beings like herself as dangerous monsters that had to be killed or tricked into losing power. Those stories always felt too close to home as those fears had caused such damage and hurt. Not only towards Fenja but for her siblings and children as well. During the time of living together with Tryggr she had never once attempted to harm anyone until the violence was brought towards her loved ones. What  transpired afterwards wasn’t something to be proud of but in many ways it was very human, ironically enough. Revenge out of anger or spite wasn’t uncommon among her kin but humans held grudges and used violence more often.  Why indeed. It was a broad question that could raise more questions or different answers depending on the person. Fenja became aware of the defensive tone as it told her more about the other woman. There were fond feelings towards humanity in that simple question and perhaps a wish to defend human kind. She could understand it but her own feelings towards a species that kept destroying its own planet were complicated. While trying to find her words again she had a mouth full of champagne and tenderly placed the glass at the table. “I adore their music, dancing and poetry. There is such beauty in lovers embracing or a mother singing a lullaby to her child.” Fenja looked at her and exhaled. “But there is also a lot of darkness. I wish they would realize this planet is home to many life forms and claiming to be masters of it all without caring for every being will lead to their own end. There is no second planet for them and their time to change is limited.”
“You don’t have to be a poet around me.” Walking among mortals in this day and age was different from her own experience as a young spirit. Some things for the better. Other for worse. Despite these changes humans rarely changed much. They created art or inventions. There was love, hate and fear towards what was different. People made up their own rules around fashion as well as moral codes for behavior. The world they had created was louder and more colorful than ever before. “So you are feeling lonely?” Though it was a bit blunt there was no judgment in her tone or gaze. She was simply tired of trying to speak in circles or trying to figure things out by tone or gestures. Fenja smiled back. “I can always join you if you ever feel lonely. That is if you don’t mind my company.” Her emerald eyes had a certain gleam as their gazes met. “Being different only adds flavor and spice my dear.” @helreginn
Mankind was once building communities in regards to guarding forests from being destroyed but somewhere along the way morality was put aside for new values. Nature became a treasure hold that people believed to be infinite until it wasn’t providing and pollution spilled toxic waste. Sickness, drought and storms were some of the rage that humanity was met with while the rich filled their pockets even more. Even so the Gods were hungry for a war that probably would have heavy consequences for all the realms.
“Yes, valor too.” A long time ago she tried to make Tryggr explain valor and even so she could never  grasp what valor meant or why some held it as a great virtue. Fenja’s gaze followed the way she moved to flick ashes from the cigarette and placed it in her mouth. The smoke that lingered afterwards was filled with a heavy smell of alcohol. While studying the other woman she leaned her arm against the table and swallowed some champagne. “Many Gods, many wishes, I suppose.” As Fenja spoke her gaze wandered towards her lips while her own tongue licked clean the red lipstick from the glass. Emerald eyes shifted to look her in the eyes. The corners of her lips crooked and turned into a smile.
“Humanity needs a reminder of their own small place in this tiny world. Small specks of dust in space between an infinity of worlds.” Her smile was growing at the toast. “The damn fools.” It was said with a tender, yet playful tone as Fenja sipped from her glass. It did register that the other’s glass was miraculously filled once again without any effort of asking for it from a waiter. A parlor trick for beings outside the mortal realms. Though it was not part of her own abilities which were bound by other rules. Affecting minds and shifting her own appearance were a few things she could control.
“Now as we speak openly I do wonder why you decided to walk among mortals.” She carefully moved a strand of hair from the other woman’s face. @helreginn

“You might be right my dear.” Fenja’s voice was soft as she watched Hel’s wide smile as she spoke with conviction. It was a possibility. Yggdrasil’s roots and branches had a wide reach in many directions. It was holding the worlds together while also keeping them separate. A being like Hel had more intimate knowledge about the world tree as she had a closer connection to it. Seeing as she lived closer to the roots, the Norns and Mimer’s well. Death has to exist everywhere and so Fenja imagined there was a constant of visiting other realms unless there was a doorway for souls to find her. “I wish to hear more about your brother. You speak of him with such love.” She loved hearing Hel speak of things that lay close to her heart. There was such warm happiness in her voice and body language.
“I took inspiration from the human world.” There was a soft chuckle at the compliment while she nuzzled against her cheek. “I can form my body however I wish as I’m a forest spirit. I’m not bound to one form like humans are but I had an original form during my birth and when my tree died my core was changed to what form I had when it happened.” Fenja watched her mermaid tale before guiding Hel’s hand to touch the scales. “It is only real at the moment because we make it real but it will go through drastic changes once we leave and return unless we wish for these things again.” Fenja and Hel were the only existing creatures basking in the light of a sun that wouldn’t move unless they wished for it or decided to leave.
She had to make sure Hel understood the workings of these worlds as being too attached to a place of illusions and dreams could be damaging. No one could live in a world where nothing truly existed.
While enjoying the sun and moving waves she noticed how relaxed her companion was. As if Hel for once was able to find a moment of peace from the heavy burdens that came with being a Goddess of death. “Rest my dear. Time stands still here and nothing can disturb us.” It was a quiet whisper before she gave Hel a chaste kiss on the cheek. Once they returned it would be as if nothing had happened. @helreginn
She had wandered through hidden paths many times but it was still curious to witness how real it all felt. Though she could sense the shifting from one world to another it was somewhat easy to forget everything came from unspoken wishes. Each time she brought others to these pockets of peace there was a burst of excitement coming from her guests. Some had a hard time going back after spending time in the enchanted world where time stood still and Fenja had to remind them of their own realms. Eating anything from a world like this wouldn’t nourish or fill a hungry stomach and water wouldn’t still thirst. She had witnessed people dying because they refused to leave. It was a beautiful thing to leave reality but it was also dangerous. “Maybe.” Fenja spoke softly and watched her with a tender expression. If this was what she imagined then it was not her place to burst her bubble. This was a moment for tender care where no one could find them. For a moment she sat still while Hel moved to be embraced by the rolling waves. How wild Hel’s hair was as it moved by mischievous winds and how beautiful her features seemed when the sun shone from behind. Fenja’s heart was beating harder while she moved to answer the invite and gently snuck both arms around Hel’s waist as she sat down behind her. While nuzzling close she transformed parts of her body to get webbed hands. In a heartbeat Fenja’s legs turned into a turquoise colored mermaid tail that was swaying with each wave that moved towards them. “I think it’s a beautiful dream with you in it.” She whispered softly. “My sweet Goddess.” @helreginn

Hel’s reaction was a confirmation of strong desire and it warmed her to know there was a possibility to be united. Having the Goddess in an union beyond meetings of pure lust was something she had wished for ever since their first meeting. Something about Hel made Fenja tingle with excitement each time they met. She enjoyed every conversation and moment of cuddling during their vacation travels. It felt intimate without kissing or giving into sexual desires. Though Fenja had fantasized about it and pleasured herself while thinking of Hel. Her own eyes widened as she finally got a love confession. How hard her heart thumped as the words started to sink and take room. There seemed to be no fear of the singing magic since she already had affection for Fenja. So much trust was within those words and she adored her for it. “And where do you wish to go with me?” The tone was gentle as Fenja imagined Hel’s mouth travel to leave warm love marks. Furthermore she wished for Hel’s fingers to move between her tremblings legs.
She sighed in relief as there was no judgement about a possible future of infadelity. It was reassuring to hear as it wasn’t her intention to hurt others. Most of the time she followed these impulses of desire out of curiosity or need. Other times it was her offering what other people wished for. It could be a bitter pill to swallow when she only wanted sexual encounters while her heart was out of reach. But with Hel it would be different. “That is very open minded my dear. Do you wish to know if I find lovers and who they are?” Fenja didn’t want to keep secrets but it all depended on what her lover wished for.
“I have never been more determined to share my heart.” The tone was sultry while her gaze was filled with longing. “I want you Hel and I don’t care what the Gods think of it. I’ll fight beside you if it means we can stay together.” @helreginn
She responded with a smile. It was calming to hear her laughter or see the curves of a smile appearing. Just seeing her felt so warm and soothing. When giving her heart to Tryggr it had brought some sort of comfort until other humans found out about the union and since then it was rare for her to fully trust anyone. All the lovers after him never knew what Fenja was or how her magic worked until they were lured in by singing and woke up from the spell. Fenja became whatever others wished for while pretending to be human. But pretending was exhausting. She started to long for companionship with someone who knew her nature. A fellow immortal. Sweet Hel. The following reaction wasn’t quite what she had expected but it made her heart pound harder to think that Hel seemed to consider a bond between them. “To forge a bond with me and share my heart is a connection to my soul. A part of me will lay within a lover and singing is calling it towards me.” While speaking she held one hand against her own chest. “Desire and feelings become heightened, a wild longing that calms down with time if there is love before the bond is forged by mating.” It was strange to hear her mention these struggles but she was also honored to be trusted with such knowledge being shared. A peek behind the curtain to view something vulnerable. “If I had known I would have spoken up sooner. I’ve been longing to have you beyond a warm embrace but I also wanted to make sure these feelings were real and now I’m ready for you.”Fenja waited patiently for Hel to find her words after the warm gaze. This love confession had apparently been a surprise but also something that was welcomed. Hel had not yet denied any warm feelings or desires which she saw as good signs for a mutual affection.
The firm tone and changing eye color did not go unnoticed. It spoke of something serious being brought up. Of course there wouldn’t only be sunshine with warm summer days to share bed with the Goddess of death. Fenja was not the only one with a heavy history or challenges to overcome. Their escapades have yet not been too frequent to be noticed by the other Gods but it could change with an intimate union. Fenja’s eyes glimmered as Hel admitted to her own desires. It made her cheeks blossom even more. So much time had been lost but it didn’t matter much as they had an eternity to figure out how to work this relationship out.
Fenja’s gaze didn’t waver as Hel took her hands. There was determination, longing and affection in her features as their eyes locked together. “I have met many challenges before and I would rather meet all the dangers with you than spend eternity alone.” There was no insecurity or stutter in her speech. “I respect your duties and I’ll be there when you need my love in any shape or form.” There was a moment of silence as she reflected on the many years of fooling around. “My heart belongs to you but it’s long been in my nature to share bed with many lovers. I might struggle a bit with staying faithful but it’s not out of spite or lack of love. Do you accept this about me?” She felt it was of great importance to mention this. Some lovers were driven by jealousy and were filled with hatred as they found her in bed with someone else. @helreginn

A tiny smile was visible as he laughed. Humans had odd customs but in many ways she could recognize animalistic behaviors in them as well. Like dancing or singing to find a mate. Finding or crafting precious things to loved ones. Even biting or tickling was very common in nature as well. "A little. But silly things are precious too." Fenja moved her head and touched his cheeks. "Why are you blushing?"

She didn't quite understand what the nose poking meant. Was it some sort of gesture of affection? After looking at him with a puzzled expression she touched his nose in turn. Then she gently connected their noses. @ubrias-court-wizard

“I know so.” There was a faint smile as she listened to Hel speaking of how loved her children would be if there ever was an opportunity to build a family and it wasn’t hard to miss the longing tone. It was clear how the what ifs had stayed with the Goddess. One would have thought Gods had every opportunity for happiness since they ruled over the different realms. But as she learned about deities it was clear that hierarchies existed everywhere. In every system there was someone who dictated how people should live despite it being fair or not. “That would have been a beautiful sight.” Fenja’s voice was gentle while there was a tenderness in her eyes. Hearing those words made her imagine it herself. Their own little family filled with red haired children. Giving up on such dreams would be hard but to her it was more important to focus on what was already existing rather than something filled with uncertainty. Though it did seem unfair that Hel was never allowed such happiness while Fenja already had a taste of what it could be.  There was a slow nod as Hel didn’t delve into what had happened. From everything Fenja had been told it was still a painful wound and whenever Hel was ready to share such intimate details she would lend her an ear. Everything in due time. Forcing out answers was not the way to go in order to heal from painful memories. The hand remained still at Hel’s cheek while she waited for her to speak up. However painful it was, she felt it was important to have these things sorted out. What dreams, aspirations and fears were within them. What path they could walk together as well as things that had to be abandoned. There was a moment of silence before she gently embraced the Goddess. “You wouldn’t raise them alone. I’m finally here with you and together we would bring them warmth, love and joy. We have snuck away to have small vacations on our own and I’m sure there will be more golden moments if we ever decide to build a family.” Fenja whispered softly. “But right now I’m just happy to be with you.”
After a moment of hesitation she decided to share something from her own past. “I once had three of my own but they are long gone now and I don’t think I can carry children again.” It came out in a hushed tone while she let the words sink in. Saying it outloud made it feel so final. More real than constantly being reminded of how unchanging her body was. @helreginn
She wrinkled her nose at the statement. Something about what was said gave Fenja the impression it wasn't going to be an overly positive experience Hel decided to share. It could possibly be something very personal and painful. There was a slow nod of her head to show Hel's words had reached her.
At the mention of children she swallowed and tensed up a little. She could recognize the longing to have children. There had been a moment in time when Fenja had given birth to triplets. But it was before the curse. Despite all the male lovers she had not been given proof that her body was fertile anymore. Thanks to the curse she was in a constant decay without fully dying, so it wouldn't be a surprise if her fertility would never come back. "I think you would be a wonderful mother." There was a tiny smile as Hel mentioned puppies. Sometimes she forgot that Hel wasn't like a human and her upbringing seemed to reflect that very well.
"Who forced you to leave?" Her voice was low and gentle. Urging Hel to keep talking even if the subject was difficult.
Fenja swallowed again and shivered as Hel admitted her lack of desire when it came to having children. It seemed somewhat ironic how the Goddess of death was able to have children while a tree spirit associated with life wasn't. This conversation went into a direction that was somewhat uncomfortable but important all the same in order to heal and grow. Her gaze was locked to Hel as she reflected on the reasons for not having a child. Slowly she caressed Hel’s cheek. “Hel my sweet. From the sound of it you’ve wished for children but have given up because of circumstances. I won't leave or try to persuade you to change your mind but I wish to know if you are truly content with this decision.” @helreginn
