I tried to make a theme in a sort of “comic style”. It was pretty tricky due to browser limitations, but I worked really hard on it and hope you like it!~

PSA.

for some godforsaken reason, tumblr’s updated such that some links no longer work. for example, a lot of people have /link on their pages instead of url.tumblr.com/link, tumblr’s made it so that now, when you click on the link, it takes you to t.umblr.com/link. i know i’m not the only person who shortcuts on their links like this, but tumblr is out to get us i swear. this only happens on pages, so if you have links in your HTML, you’re fine but if you have links in your pages (aka no html, no fancy coded pages) that lead to other pages, tags, etc, THEY ARE BROKEN! even if this doesn’t help you specifically, please reblog to help other people!!! i’ve checked around 10 blogs and it’s broken on everyone!!!!

Be it sidebars, top bars, a certain number of links, cool hover effects, lots of customization options, etc; what do you like and why?

Bonus: What don’t you like in a theme? Are there common things that theme makers put in their themes that bother you? (Do not say credits, ya’ll just gotta deal with that.)

Tumblr broke the Infinite Scroll on my Theme

The Tumblr blog that hosted the Infinite Scroll code for my Blog is gone, either Tumblr removed it or the blog is gone itself. Now the Infinite Scroll on my Blog is Broken. Tumblr i’m a dissappoint.

I interrupt a long-term hiatus to help raise awareness towards the new Copyright Laws that might come into effect starting next week unless we join efforts to stop it. 

A friend and fellow artist, Will Terry, has joined forces with Brad Holland to help us understand what this Copyright Law is all about, here is their message:

“Orphan Works in a Nutshell:

- Congress is drafting a new US Copyright Act. If passed, it would replace current US Copyright law. There isn��t any bill yet, but the Copyright Office has issued its recommendations for one. Their Report is 234 pages long and is very complicated, so it’s risky to try reducing it to a few words. But here’s a summary of its basic features:

It would void your Constitutional right to the EXCLUSIVE CONTROL of YOUR work.

It would effectively reverse the default premise of copyright law; which means…

It would make the public’s right to use your work its defining goal; which means…

You would have to make your work available to the public.

You would have to do this by registering every picture you want to retain the rights to with for-profit registries.

Unregistered work would be considered legally “orphaned.”

Orphaned work would be available for commercial infringement by “good faith” infringers.

Good faith infringers would be anyone who believed they had made a “reasonably diligent,” but unsuccessful effort to find you.

Infringers could also ALTER your work and copyright the “derivative works” in their own names.

This would affect all visual art: drawings, paintings, sketches, photos, etc.; past, present and future; published and unpublished; domestic and foreign.

It would include family snapshots and any picture or work you ever put on the Internet.

The Copyright Office acknowledges that this would pose special “challenges” for visual artists…

But they conclude that it’s in the public interest for your work to be available for anyone to use.

The Copyright Office has also recommended the following:

Mass Digitization of the world’s intellectual property by corporate interests.

Extended Collective Licensing, a form of socialized corporate licensing that would replace voluntary agreements between artists and clients.

A Copyright Small Claims Court to handle the expected flood of orphan works lawsuits.

I want to get back into theme making so much. Honestly, I don’t have time to dedicate myself to it anymore and that’s so frustrating. I told myself, and you guys, that over the summer I would be working on things but honestly it’s been almost two weeks and I have done nothing. I have been busy unpacking, then packing again to move back to school (I’m going back on Friday for work) and reading my employee manuals and taking assessments. I really hoped to get this blog back up and running this summer and I’m worried if I don’t get back to it now, I’ll never come back.

Thank you very much to those of you who participated! The survey turned up some really interesting data. I’m still sifting through and looking for certain patterns but I encourage those who participated and even those who didn’t to look through the data yourself. It’s really fascinating stuff! You can sort each field A-Z so you can see common answers more easily. Also, for participants who identified as synesthetic, I highlighted their answers in red.
