This year, Tme Out published their list of the 'Coolest streets of the world'. Right amongst the 3 best is my favorite street in Melbourne: Gertrude street! My relationship with Gertrude is pure love. My wife worked there for a while and I used to hang out there on my own and sketch for hours. It's my favorite street in the world, it has bookshops, cool shops, barbers, hats, Art shops, designer shops, restaurants, bars,  my wife's favorite enoteca and cafes (like the sketchcup of @archiesallday ).  I dreamed of just hanging there 24/7. I am glad my favorite streetscape has gotten some international recognition! Last time we went to Savannah we spent some time at @thecollinsquarter.  We had coffee there and I loved the place for several reasons: First because is great coffee and food in Savannah (I know, obvious), and second, it reminds me of my previous home (Melbourne AU).  I need to go to Savannah more often and enjoy views like the one on this drawing! On our way to Melbourne Florida we saw this cool building in Savannah, Georgia. It's called the @thefitzroysav , and it serves nicely crafted food, inspired by Australia. Have you been watching the Olympics? I have. I have to admit I've enjoyed every country's medal... I think it's because I (we all?) have been more focused on the individual achievement of each athlete and team, as they do compete for their loved ones and themselves after such a difficult year. It's just great to see them all win and react, we are all winning! I opened randomly a page from our #lonelyplanetjapan and felt the urge to draw a typical after work scene that we saw in Tokyo. Our first night in Tokyo, years ago, we were looking where to eat near Asakusa. We walked into a restaurant that was well hidden in a beautiful quiet alley full of lanyerns. We were received by the restaurant owner who tried to express that she would rather not have us as she would not be able to fully serviced us the way she would wanted, because of the language barrier. Very politely a business gentleman intervened and offered to chaperone our experience in case anything was needed. That's how we were able to eat the best eel dish ever! This very nice business chaperone of ours was having late dinner and drinks with his employees. He gave me his card and we learned he was the CEO of a large Japanese company. After our encounter and trip I emailed him to thank him again. He urged us to let him know next time we visit Tokyo. I hope he is OK. We had many experiences similar to this one in Japan.
