Summary: His boyfriend is dead. His brother, his parents, dead. Barbara Gordon, his best friend, is lying in a hospital bed and may never walk again. And Dick Grayson has finally had enough. Pushing away from his friends and family, Dick sets out on a self-destructive path to find the Joker and make him pay - by whatever means necessary. Bruce and Will do their best to bring him back before he does something he may regret.

Excerpt:

The wards in Arkham were set up more like cell blocks than actual in-patient hospital rooms. Dick had been shocked by it the first time he’d accompanied Bruce here, back when he was a few years in as Robin. He’d never forget the look Bruce gave him in lieu of a response. Even beneath the cowl, the pull of his stern mouth had softened. Bruce hadn’t been able to give him an answer for that, but over the years Dick had stopped asking. He’d seen too much of what the patients here could do, and he knew too much of the fear of Gotham City — what they would do to keep Arkham’s Most Famous off the streets. In any case, Arkham hardly warranted being called an Asylum anymore. It had more security that even Blackgate Penitentiary to keep its inmates inside.

Pressing himself into the dark crevice between a thick wall and the corner junction of another hallway, Dick waited until the next guard passed before slipping out and dashing off. He had the map of the place memorised, and took every turn following the path he’d laid out for himself. Finally, he made the final corner. This block of cells was mostly vacant. Each one was marked by an impenetrable glass wall covering the cell like so many aquariums. Only one was lit up, throwing dull light onto the glossy steel floor from the very end of the corridor.

Before he’d even made it to the glass wall, a voice shouted from inside, her voice projected by vents built into the glass above a sleek access drawer. “I told ya already! I’m not eating that mystery meat crap they got on the menu. Give my share to Croc.”

Coming up to the edge of the cell, Dick crouched down and tapped on the glass.

A creased romance paperback came flying at the glass. “Better yet, throw it in the incinerator!”

Dick sighed. “Harley.”

Summary: Wally’s life is at a crossroads, and so close to everything he’s always dreamed of; he’s dating his best friend, about to head to University, and saving the world every day as Kid Flash. But just when he’s riding high, his whole life seems to come crashing down as his powers begin to attack his body. Everything comes to a head all at once, and when combined with a volatile relationship with his parents, Wally learns that there is only so much one person can take. Luckily, Dick and Barry are there to support him.

Will it be enough to save him?.

Excerpt:

Wally exhaled and let the curtain fall back into place in favour of fidgeting with the floppy sleeves of his robe and graduation cap. Naturally, he was at the end of the alphabet and the end of the line-up, standing in front of only two other students in his cohort; Rachel Young and Caleb Zimmerman. With the crackle of the speakers and a song that skipped twice before finally playing, his principle and teachers took their places on the stage set up on the football field behind the school. The Kansan sun beat down mercilessly on the captive audience. Half of the crowd on the other side of the curtain were using their programs as fans while the graduates roasted in their black robes.

Wally took his cap off and wiped the beading sweat off his forehead with his arm. It was at that moment his phone buzzed in his pocket, and he had to stick his cap back on at an awkward angle and hike the hem of his robe up to get at the pockets of his trousers. By then, it had gone off three more times. Wally swiped it open to read the new messages.

The first was from his group chat with the Team, Zatanna’s icon picture of a white rabbit in a top hat popping up with her message.

The computer at the cave just picked up an alert from New Orleans. Apparently it detected surges of an unknown energy underground. Tarot cards have been popping up from the storm drains in the French Quarter. Think it has something to do with Madame Xanadu? ZZ

The next message down as a single black bar, an alert sent directly to his phone without a carrier app. The symbol of a black bat was displayed behind the definitive text.

You will disregard any and all suspicion regarding New Orleans. This is a direct order.

Barbara’s response in the team group chat (her icon a selfie taken with her bewildered father) came with a screenshot of the same message on her own phone.

Guess that answers that. BG
