Today on my dash I have been seeing alot of posts about Spider being demisexual, which yes I agree, but I just saw some comments about a little overlap in storylines between him and Ca$h and OH MY GOD I NEED IT!!
Picture the scene: season 3 Spider on a journey of self improvement and self discovery, offhandedly hears something about the asexuality spectrum and actually takes in that information for the first time and what that might mean for him. All this time he's been feeling "betrayed by [his] dick" (the note he buried in the feelings pit) but now he realises that maybe he just doesn't understand. So he goes to the only acespec person he knows: Ca$h.
Imagine the two of them engaging in this deep, probably quite awkward, conversation about sexual attraction vs romantic attraction, libido/sex drive, the social stigma of being acespec and internalised acephobia. I mean, this could be a mutually beneficial exchange too because Ca$h, despite being accepting of his own sexuality, is going through a really rough time reckoning with what that really means for him in terms of a relationship - specifically with Darren - and he has a lot to unpack and work through there and being able to talk it through with someone could really help. They might even finally say the word asexual.
I just feel like there's so much potential here. I have faith in the HBH writers that the demisexual coding of Spider was intentional (and even if it wasn't at first that they will hopefully seize the opportunity to make it intentional) and I think there are so many cool ways this could go in terms of character development.

@salemontrial why would you hide all these valid points in the tags
Ca$h my king for pointing out that Dusty was in the wrong for the Malakai thing in a season where it’s been joked about. Thank fuck someone acknowledges how bad that was

Just throwing this out there: does anyone else hope to see some of Sasha's home life in s3?? I was kinda hoping for a redemption for her this season (which they didn't really do, they kinda just doubled down on her shittiness, but you can read my thoughts on her redemption potential post s1 here) but we didn't actually see all that much of her. I mean, yes, we saw her through all the school captain stuff but that wasn't really very substantial, felt like she was kinda just there a lot of the time. But there was one scene - really just two lines - that make me so intrigued to her family and home life. That scene is the one where Quinni ambushes her at home while taking out the bin.
That scene begins with Sasha yelling, we don't know who to but we can presume a parent or perhaps a sibling (does she have any?), and she says "I said I'd do it and so I'm doing it!" She's angry. This is the end of an argument we're hearing, or maybe the start of an argument that Sasha is trying to prevent. Either way, there's conflict there. Then "Ugh, studip idiot." Who is it that she thinks of like that? Why?? What is her home dynamic like???
Then Quinni moves to go into Sasha's house, asking if anyone can verify her alibi for last night and Sasha, very firmly, blocks her way and says "You're not coming inside." Now, of course it's not unreasonable to not want to bring your ex-girlfriend who just ambushed you outside your front door and asked you where you were last night into your home, but Sasha's tone and movement is more defensive and it feels like there's more to it than that, especially considering the previous point. It's less that she's not letting Quinni into the house, but that shes not letting Qunni into the house. For the rest of the interaction she blocks the gate with her body, even holding onto the frame to create a barrier.
I'm really curious about Sasha's home life. I don't think we really know anything about it other than that she caught her parents fucking. What are her parents like? What do they think about the fact that she's a lesbian? What do they think of SLTs and the map? Does she get along with them? Is she embarrassed by them? Theres so many questions, so options for what the truth could be, I really want to see into that. I know we don't get to see all that much of most of their parents, Darren and Harper's dads (in s1) and Ca$h's nan excluded, but I don't think weve even really gotten a glimpse into Sasha's home life yet. We've met Ant's mum and Spider's mum, we've met Missy's brother, we've met Quinni's dads and Malakai's parents, we frequently get a little drop in from Amerie's family, but we've never met anyone in Sasha's family (I even went back and checked s1 after the protest and we don't see any family for her, we just see her talk to Jojo with Missy). I'm so curious!!! Sasha backstory s3 I pray 🙏🕯we better get one omg 🙏🕯🙏🕯
P.S. I didnt realise the "succulent Chinese meal" video was an Aussie exclusive meme. I'm British and I saw that video years ago, basically forgot about it, and then died laughing when Sasha referenced it and brought the memory back.

In preparation for Heartbreak High season 2 TOMORROW, and following up on this post from a year and a half ago I made about why Spider should have a redemption arc, I have another lukewarm take to present: if Spider deserves redemption then so does Sasha.
I thought about making this post ages ago, not long after the original Spider post, but I never got around to writing it out... til now! Here we go!
After season 1, I was seeing A LOT of Sashsa hate, much of which I agreed with but some that definitely went too far. I saw a lot more people calling Sasha irredeemable than I saw of anyone speaking that way about Spider or Dusty. I hate Sasha as much as the next HBH fan, but it is undeniable that if we give Spider enough grace to encourage his redemption we should extend the same courtesy to Sasha; if we have enough faith in the show to handle the nuance of his redemption then we should have faith in it to be able to handle her redemption too.
Sasha is not trying to be a bad person, she genuinely believes (in my opinion) that she is trying her best to be a good person. The problem is she's confusing virtue signalling and "wokeness" with actually being a good person, and that makes her behave like a bitch. What it all boils down to, just like with Spider, is attitude. What they need to do is pretty similar as well; Spider needs to start paying attention and empathising with the experiences of people around him and Sasha needs to realise that what she thinks is genuine empathy and compassion is really just performative and does not make her a good person. They both need to stop viewing themselves as victims, they both need to be more willing to hear other people out, and I believe that they both have the capacity to change.
The two things I hated most about Sasha were:
Her relationship with Quinni and the way she treated Quinni during that time, as I'm sure most (if not all) of you will agree. That whole episode with the book signing (episode 6: "Angeline") makes me so mad, and it is a perfect example of how her empathy is not genuine. When Sasha is told that Quinni is autistic, her immediate response is "I need to do some more research" instead of "I need to ask Quinni what she needs and what she wants". Right there, she fails to empathise with Quinni as a person because she's too busy thinking about how she should be empathising with Autistic People as a whole and thereby completely misses the point. In the same vein, we the viewers all see Sasha's ableism when it comes to Quinni and how she fails to treat Quinni like an equal, but Sasha is so convinced that she is a good person because she supports all of the right ideas that she fails to see when she's falling short when it comes to the real people actually in her life. (Even at the end of this post when I have explained why Sasha deserves redemption, just know that I absolutely DO NOT think that Sasha and Quinni should EVER get back together.)
The way she just drops people when the social tides turn against them. We see her do this with both Amerie and Harper, completely dropping them as friends as soon as everybody is mad at them and not even speaking with them first or even allowing them a chance to just talk to her. This still makes me incredibly angry. Sasha had every right to not want to be friends with both Amerie and Harper after the things that happened, but the way she cut them out of her life so completely without a second thought makes me seethe. Now, there are layers to this. First we have the double-edged-sword of school social hierarchy and Sasha's "woke" attitudes. I personally believe that Sasha definitely dropped her friends because she didn't want them to tank her social status (like lots of teenagers would, horrible as it is), but she justified it to herself by rationalizing it like a political/social justice issue. Amerie did something bad = Amerie bad = I won't talk to Amerie anymore. She treats the ending of a friendship like a corporate boycott. What she says to Harper in episode 6 ("I'm not gonna let you suck me into your negativity black hole. You're an emotional vampire, Harper. I watched a whole YouTube video on it.") is a shining example of both how much of a bitch Sasha can be to the people around her and how she justifies that behaviour to herself. They are bad so I don't have to treat them well. And sometimes that line of thought is genuinely justified, but people are not that black and white and to cut ties with someone you considered a close friend without even talking to them or allowing them to even try and explain or apologise is peak bitch behaviour if you ask me. Especially when it's so clear that they are struggling and have nobody else to turn to.
You may have gathered that both of these points link back to the same thing: her hollow social activism. I am not saying here that she doesn't actually care about any of the causes she supports, nor am I saying that no good has been achieved through her various activist endeavors, but I really think that she approaches it all in the wrong way. Sasha tries so hard to say the correct thing, support the correct causes, and be on the correct side of things in a widespread social view that, not only does it create an element of performance and virtue-signalling, but she just doesn't take the time to actually learn and consider things without looking so far out. To reverse a common phrase, she can't see the trees for the forest, (i.e. she's so focused on the bigger picture she can't see the closer points). I'm sure she really does agree with all of the political and social justice causes that she supports, but because that's all she thinks about it creates the insufferable holier-than-thou attitude that makes her such a bitch while also leaving this vacuum where she fails to apply these ideals to her real life. Empathy is research, compassion is protesting, and when someone fucks up and people turn on them then it's fine to just turn on them too because they did a Bad Thing, no matter what else is happening.
But the door to redemption is open for Sasha and, just like with Spider, I want to see what the writers do with it. I think the big bus fight in episode 6 and Sasha finding out that Quinni has gone non-verbal in episode 7 could serve to open her eyes as to how uncompassionate she's been to the people around her. If she gets clued in to what happened with Harper she may reflect on how poorly she treated her while she was dealing with all of that trauma and realise that she isn't as much of "an empath" as she believes she is, and that just might be enough to open the door for some well needed introspection. Progress would probably be kinda slow, like I said in my post about Spider most people with any kind of strong belief tend to get defensive when challenged, but, also like I said about Spider, if people hold Sasha accountable then change can 100% happen. If the people around her continue to show her that she is not the good and just person she thinks she's being but rather that she's being a bitch and not offering any support or understanding to the people around her, if they can show her that her attitude is causing them harm, then I think that has the potential to open her mind and allow her to learn to fix those problems.

That description separated from the show definitely makes it sound worse than it is. Rivers always has been a very complex character, and I would argue that even though his screen time in the reboot is limited he still is, but this description of him is not entirely inaccurate. I've only watched a little bit of the OG series which might be why its fresh in my mind, but right at the start Rivers is racist and homophobic. He bullies his Asian classmate for being an immigrant and harasses his gay teacher in the episode where he's falsely accused of touching a student. His character starts to change very quickly, but he does start off this way; it's what makes his relationship with Chaka so shocking (love them tho) and you see him learn and change because he was never really a bad guy but simply misguided. That's very much the way its framed in the reboot and it's clear that it has been a long time since he thought/behaved that way. I promise you that they do not destroy his character!!
Heartbreak High, the reboot
While binging all of the seasons of OG Heartbreak High (don’t you just love the 90s? 🥹), I discovered there was a reboot of the show released in 2022. But to my utter astonishment, they decided to my men, former bad boy/ current best boii, Peter Rivers so dirty by remaking him into “an ex-racist, sexist, homophobic man, likely formerly transphobic too” (©️ fandom). What the hell were they thinking?! Admittedly, he was a douche, but then again this is the same dude who at some point was friends with Rose, Jack, and Chaka (🇱🇧🇻🇳🇸🇻 respectively); started a very groundbreaking albeit illicit relationship with his teacher (whatever happened to Sam anyway?!); and as far as I could see showed nothing but respect for his gay teacher (albeit with an attitude because he is…you know “Rivers” 🤷). Said teacher was the only queer character I could find up until Rivers’ departure, because well this was Australia in the 90s I suppose? But I can’t see how he would’ve acted any different to any other queer character, than with his typical attitude.
The thing I loved most about Rivers is that he is an incredibly complex character, with a lot of different layers of problems. A difficult relationship with his very problematic parents, a tendency towards overcompensating by acting all tough, and a real difficulty with seeking help. Not in the last place because he suffers from prejudice and stigma. Whenever something foul has been committed, the cops first look for him.
Admittedly, I haven’t watched the reboot yet. (I still have approximately four seasons of OG to go through. 🫣) But you’re seriously expecting me to believe that this multilayered character, the guy with so many different sides, this dude who when it mattered always was there to help his friends. HE is nothing but a recovering sexist racist homophobic piece of vermin?!

I don’t know if anyone has ever done this before but, here ya go… The Different Types of Fanfiction!
I probably left a few out, but these are the most common, compared to their base fiction’s canon plot. Enjoy! XD

I've just started watching The Crowded Room and I know the basic premise, and I don't have DID but... this feels like bad rep??
And I don't even mean the fact that the main character with DID is also a criminal, because it's based on true events so I'm not going to fault it for inventing a a narrative that demonizes mental illness, but just the way that it depicts the disorder... doesn't feel right? Like his altars feel more like hallucinations because he talks to them and watches them do stuff in a way that I feel like is not very representative of DID. As far as I'm aware, people with DID (especially if they don't know that they have DID and aren't aware of their system, which I dont think that Danny is) don't interact with their alters like that. It's more just like when the alter fronts they take over and it leaves a gap in your memory, no?
Please please anyone in a system, or just anyone who has better knowledge of DID, let me know what you think of the show. I'm only on episode 2 but it's kind of leaving a bad taste in my mouth already.

Anyone else see a bunch of Skye hate on TikTok and just catch a whiff of enbyphobia?? Because on not one post did I see anyone provide a reason for why they don't like Skye, it was just blind hate.

Can you like not tag things when you’re shitting on the thing you’re tagging?? Or if it has nothing to do with your main post??
Firstly, I have no clue what you mean by my "main post" because this blog isn't about any one specific thing, it's about any and every piece of media that I enjoy.
Secondly, I don't know what makes you think it's okay to try and tell me what I can do with my own blog. Just scroll past or block me if you don't want to see what I have to say. I have a right to my online experience just as much as you have a right to yours, and if I have opinions that I want to share then I will share them.
Thirdly, I tag with relevant tags whether the content of my post is positive or negative. You are welcome to disagree with what I have to say, you're even welcome to tell me that you disagree, but you are not welcome to tell me that I can't say what I think. I don't post about things for the sake of "shitting on" them, I post about them because I like to share my opinions and I like to know if other people agree with me. I'm sure you probably do the same.

Jeremiah is so emotionally mature in s2 he honestly almost doesn't fit in. Belly is so chaotic and often self centred, and Conrad is so petty and immature, that Jeremiah being a normal person makes him look like a saint.
