Black Olives Menaskai (Curry)
Black Olives Menaskai (Curry)
Growing up in a quintessential south Indian family, rice was and will always be my comfort food! Getting married to someone who does not enjoy rice as much could not change my affinity towards authentic Udupi based dishes.
The thought of saar (rasam), thambuli, Urdinet, different chutneys, kukku bajji (mango curry), menaskai makes me want to head back home to my Mom who makes them all the…

Kokum or amsul or Punarpuli (in Tulu – my native tongue) is a fruit that is dried and preserved to be used over time in many dishes.
For the most part of my life, Kokum Saar / rasam was the only dish I knew. And I enjoyed it for its tanginess. Kokum Rasam and rice with some papad is the best thing to have when you are down with cold 🙂
Then one day, I tasted some flavorsome spicy kokum juice at my…

“I cook for the love of food and for the love of feeding people” – This is true about me and my passion for cooking! I do not cook fancy meals, but I enjoy a simple meal when accompanied by loved ones. Our dining area is a favorite place in the house for us to bond with friends over delicious snacks/meal or even a simple adrak wali chai!
I have been away from my blog, social networking sites past few months and that is because I was spending time with people back home in India and then some wonderful time with friends/family here at home.  All along, I have never been away from my passion – cooking and photography 🙂
Here is an addition to the list of easy day-to-day recipes. Tomato Gojju (curry) which I learned from one of my aunts during my visit to India. This curry goes really well with dosas and chapathis. Go give it a try!

And then, I took a break from the routine, made a fun rejuvenating trip with my girlfriends and here I am back to my calling – photography, cooking, and blogging!
