Taylor Swift sparkles with her Eras Tour
I love the fact that her songs talk about life, live, heartache and hardships. But they don’t talk about murder, killing and hating on people. Or at least not the ones I’ve heard.
Watching some of the Eras show it really was amazing how her show is about the songs and not about twerking, looking suggestive and simulating sex on stage. And it’s really not necessary at the end of the day. Women do not have to sell themselves via sex. They are worthy without that.

Help Yourself to these Five Life Hacks
Just remember, if these do not resonate with you then they are just not for you. And that’s totally ok!
1) Think before you blast somebody
Don’t send an email or leave a message via a DM that you don’t want to read the reply to. I’ve done this far too often in my life. Sent off a hasty message because somebody had made me angry. And didn’t want to read the reply in case it was a hurtful response.
2) Weird can be wonderful
The weirdest kids are the most colourful humans both as young people and even more as adults. Do not squash their weirdness. Encourage it. My daughters were huge personalities as youngsters and I tried in vain, thank goodness, to tamper their behaviour to fit in with social norms. Not a good move on my part. I am pleased to say that they kept quite a bit of that weirdness as adults now. They brighten the day.
3) Regularly held events beat one off occasions
When we moved to Berlin we randomly organised a dinner party for a few people and encouraged them to bring some friends. We ended up a party of 16 or so. We had so much fun that we held a third Saturday of the month dinner party for a few months in a row. Not only did we have huge fun but we also made some close friends.
4) Tip to figure out the purpose of your life
It’s too big a task. You will most likely get discouraged by the enormity of the question. As with all huge projects chop it down into manageable chunks. Tackle a period such as two years at a time. As an example. If you feel you want to serve mankind then go and volunteer somewhere for three years. Can be part-time where you live or join an organisation that sends volunteers overseas. Not enjoying ones work is often a trigger to questioning ones purpose in life. Explore new options. Something exciting could be just around the corner.
5) Avoid reflecting on bad memories
First of all your memory is not the most reliable resource you have. Whatever you remember is nowhere close to the reality of the actual experience whether good or bad. You might think that every detail is burnt into your brain. Not so. From the time of the actual happening when you already misread, misinterpreted and mis-remembered the ‘thing’ everything has already changed. Besides this nobody who was there at the time remembers it right either. So why beat yourself or other participants up about it. Here’s an example. Your parents didn’t treat you right? If they are alive you can be certain they don’t think they treated you badly. If they are dead, even more so. What’s the point of nurturing this hurt. None. It just gives you more hurt for no reason at all. Bad move!

Was amazing to sing in a choir of 160 or so voices, with orchestra and soloists as well as a Ukrainian pianist. Wonderful opportunity to take part in the Summer Festival Choir. Once in a lifetime experience. Pity there had to be a war in Ukraine to make it happen. But certainly added to the emotion of the event. So moving. I was not the only one shedding many tears.

What is your favourite song or piece of music?
For many folk this is an easy question to answer. For me not so. But in the end there was really only one song that popped into my head.
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
This is the winner for me. Why? It combines rock music which I grew up to with the sounds of classical opera. It’s the same reason why Andrew Lloyd Webber has been so immensely successful with his musicals. The longest playing musicals on Broadway shows Webber taking spot 1 with The Phantom of the Opera and spot 4 with Cats.
I was lucky to catch one live show in 1974. Jesus Christ Superstar was showing in London and we managed to get tickets. It was one of the most intense and amazing experiences. And I’m sure it hasn’t changed much.
While checking for my most favourite piece of music some of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hits definitely registered on my favourite song scale. Especially those sung by Sarah Brightman.
But back to Bohemian Rhapsody.
Most appropriately the track is from Queen’s fourth album A Night at the Opera (1975). Contrary to what was popular at the time this track is 6 minutes long. It has no chorus which is also quite strange. If you listen to hits during the same time no song could survive without extensive chorus lines. Some pop hits even seem to consist only of chorus elements.
But Bohemian Rhapsody has an intro, a ballad section, operatic passage and a hard rock segment ending with a reflective code. It was promoted with an amazing music video and became Queen’s most popular song and has had many revivals over the years. The Wikipedia page is worth reading if you love this song as I do.
