having thoughts about how differently narinder and lamb treat godhood, and by extension, the crown.

narinder would say that lamb should be grateful for the crown, which would piss them off so much. godhood, to them, was painted by the bloodshed of petty power struggles, marred by the irreparable trauma of what they went through to get it. to say they should be grateful for it would imply that they should thank the bishops for the genocide that wiped out every sheep except them. the benefit of ascension was not worth what they'd lost to get there.

but at the same time, it's a slap in the face for narinder when lamb treats the crown as a burden, a curse. to him, godhood is a state of autonomy and free will, unbound from the chains that tied him down for one thousand years. it's what he lost everything pursuing, and what he spent blood and tears fighting to get back. to have such an honour dismissed by the current crownholder stings hard, because it implies he sacrificed everything for something that didn't matter.
