⚠️ ADVISORY: Malicious Mods, Identity Theft, Malware, and You ⚠️

Hey, all! Not sure how many people will see this, but if you do, please reblog. This is a 'little' post regarding a potentially big problem affecting the Sims 4 community. If you download mods/CC at all (and yes I know CC is a type of mod), this applies to you.

TL;DR: For the sake of your personal info, identity, bank account, et cetera, please STOP downloading any mods/CC for the time being. Especially from the following sites: CurseForge, ModTheSims, The Sims Resource. It doesn't matter if you know the creator or not. Give it at least a week while we all figure out what's going on. If you must, I would recommend only downloading directly from a creator's Patreon (assuming they have one).

Other people have written at length about the mods in question, so I'll just share their posts below.

What's going on?

From the Sims 4 After Dark Discord server (a server you should join if you're not in it already):

⚠️If you downloaded any mod listed in the above post and played the game with them installed, this is the cleaner program Kuttoe (creator of the Home Regions and Townie Demographics mods) mentioned in their post: GitHub - overwolf/sims4-social-events-cleaner: Source files and exe release for a tool to clean up your machine if you have downloaded the "Social Events - Unlimited Time" Sims 4 mod ⚠️

Got confirmation from Kuttoe that as long as you didn't boot up the game with the malicious mods installed (or deleted them completely from your computer before playing the game), you *should* be fine. Still, I recommend that anyone who thinks they might have downloaded any of them run the cleaner program.

So, to recap:

Fake mods were uploaded to Curseforge, ModTheSims, and The Sims Resource

@msqsimsofficial had their account compromised on 2 of those sites (they are a victim of hacking, so do not send them hate!)

If downloaded, these malicious mods have the ability to steal very sensitive info (your passwords, credit card info if saved somewhere in your browser, data)

As of right now, antivirus software may not be able to detect the malware

Mac and Linux users seem to be safe; Windows users are the ones that could be affected

Why is this happening?

Unsure. Lots of theories are being made by people far more knowledgeable than me, but from the looks of things, could be crypto bullshit and/or an attempt to steal your data and sell it. This is very, very serious, and could wreck your life if said data/personal info falls into the wrong hands.

It's always a good idea to change passwords every couple of months or so, but if you think you've been affected, you also need to change your passwords for things like online banking, email and social media accounts, healthcare sites AFTER running the cleaner.

What now?

I want to talk about how we approach modding our games and downloading files in general.

Please STOP downloading mod file folders from people who did not create the specific mods. Period. This includes Sim dumps, building/lots with CC, mod folders promoted on YouTube, etc. This does not mean that anyone sharing them is doing so maliciously. In fact, I appreciate the amount of effort people put into compiling these resources! But unless you're super careful (and super knowledgeable), you run the risk of downloading malware like this on your computer. Make no mistake, the malicious files in question look like run-of-the-mill, everyday mods. Two of them were even posted from a trustworthy creator's actual account! The only way to know what they actually do is to peek into the code, and idk about you, but I don't know Python. So even after this issue is resolved, you really should only download files from the creators themselves.

But what about CC shopping?

Here's how I like to approach it: I stick to lookbooks and combing through the Patreons/accounts of creators who make items I like. If I see a Sim dump with CC that I'm interested, I try to reach out to the poster and ask where they got specific CC. If I can't do that, I see if it was shared via Drive, look at the individual files themselves, then head to the original CC creator's official download page and get it from the source.

Do you remember Lizzy’s Issue (probably don’t because of my hiatus and hectic update schedule, lol). Here’s Lizzy’s Issue and it will become Aequitas now, lol. Darcy’s mother is still @almost-spring, thank you ^^.

4.) Tell us about your “dream”. Start a freaking webtoon series and receive some recognition, so I can do something I actually like, but I’m too afraid to risk it

5.) Aside from art, what are your hobbies? hmmm, listen to music, come up with ideas, daydream about it. Or I really like hate-read a story (basically read the stuff that irritates me the most, lol), so I can come up with a brand new story idea as an AU, fix-it fanfiction for that story. It’s good for creativity, then I can develop my characters using that idea. Besides, is procrastination a hobby too?

8.) What are some fun facts about you? hmm... I like trash reincarnated villainess manga and manhwa stories recently. The authors just copied some tropes from the other authors to write the stories, so the characters and plots can be shallow (Tropes like black haired Male Lead who is mean to everyone but the Female Lead, reincarnated girl who threw her trauma out of the window or threw her past life memories away quickly and move on for the sake of revenge, zero character development if the FL is badass...) Part of me hate-read the stories, part of me love them as it I’m addicted to them

11.) What’s your aesthetic? Anything pink, that’s my entire wardrobe. Vintage clothes, midi dresses and skirts, korean makeup.

13.) How did you get into your form of art? Trash reincarnated villainess webtoons made me wish I could draw, but didn’t have the nerve to start drawing. Then Clip Studio Paint ads popped up everywhere (did google read my mind?), they talked about 3d assets that would help drawing. So I’m drawing now

Webtoon style?  I was inspired by True Beauty and Lookism art style. The light source typically come from top right corner of my drawings

So I want to draw a webtoon. It's crazy and spontaneous, if it doesn't work I might go back to the sims. But I want to try to see Of Love And War in webtoon form. So I've been practicing art😋, and even if I go back to sims story I still have to remake, or delete some chapters because of info dump. Blame Naver Webtoon 😭

Of love and war: first time they met (before the event of Lan Chi’s reincarnation)

Due to his position as the emperor of the Absolon Kingdom, several lords urged him to find an empress and produce a future heir to the throne. Idris understood the importance of having an heir and organized a ball to find the candidate for the position. However, he still wished to marry the person he truly loves.

Lan Chi was secretly having a relationship with a “low-ranking” (according to her parents) policeman, knowing they would never approve of their relationship. She was forced to attend the ball, but she tried her best to avoid the emperor of the kingdom.

Unfortunately, the gossiping and flattering atmosphere of the ball suffocated the young emperor, so he sneaked out to the garden and found Chi wandering there. For some unknown reason, he fell in love with her at first sign, as if he had known her for many years already. Obviously, Chi was frightened when she saw him, LOL

P/s: yay, I just want to show off my paintings. I’m sorry for being so inactive, university has made me busier. But the reading weak is approaching, I hope I’ll find some time for sims

we all know that kpop fans = brain rot but at the moment some of them are saying the bullying accusations are “some stupid shit [everyone did] when you were 12” dismissing the fact that bullying culture is completely different in Korea than in the states. When someone in Korea says they were bullied, it doesn’t mean some kid called them a slur once or pushed them into a locker in middle school.

It means they were physically/sexually harassed and assaulted for the majority of that school year. Bullying in SK is systematic, bullies are often rich/powerful kids who want to “relieve stress” from their long school hours (the demand of the educational system in SK is far more intense than what any American child can imagine, to the point school is often considered a second home for students) Bullies abuse, pressure and torture their victims by ganging up on them, hurting them and silencing them. And school authorities often look the other way because as long as it doesn’t affect anyone’s studies or the school’s image, no one truly cares. There are no effective #stopbullying or mental health campaigns over there, no genuine help or care for victims and they’re stuck in that awful environment for sometimes up 16 hours a day. These are reasons why the trauma of being bullied in SK may last after the age of “12.”

Not every accusation is going to be valid, but please stop invalidating/harassing victims who are coming forward. Let it be handled by the powerful company who backs your “poor liddol idol baby who can do no wrong uwu” or the law at the very least.

Hey!! My tumblr has been "dead" lately, I will try to be more active, post story once in a while (I'm working on my storty, let's hope new chapter will be available this weekend), but I won't be as active as before. University has started, and the reading list is dreadful😥.

1) Isekai

I've read bunch of manhwa, and my favorite trope is always otome isekai. The trope is usually about a person who was 1)reincarnated as their past self to fix their past mistakes, usually to avoid early death and 2) (my TROPE) someone was reincarnated and was forced to live someone else's life.

Isekai is always so appealing, because the process of getting used to the other's life is really exciting.

Announcement (I'm hiding it here😭): I broke one of my new year goal already. Lizzy's Issue will be discontinued and revamped, again. I'm not satisfied with lack of plot idea, lack of story direction. I'm not sure where the story is going, so I'll remake it. @cherries-jubiles I'm so sorry😭, but Darcy is the only character I'll keep when I remake this story.

The story won't be about Lizzy anymore, I've decided that the nature of Lizzy power can be passed from one individual to other, only one person in the entire universe can own this superpower (you won't meet another person possessing this power and living in the same time period, the power can be passed to another once the previous user dies). The story will follow Lizzy's predecessor, how her soul and mind affects Lizzy's current mental state. And it's otome isekai, AGAIN, this story will follow all otome isekai tropes: 1) prior knowledge of the story 2) FL being side character in the original story 3)Villain (lol), if you read the genre you'll know 4) Original Female Lead isn't all that pure and innocent, she's sly and cunning 5)Noblemen, checked.

But let me wait a little bit, because I don't wanna drop this story again because I've changed my mind about the plot😣

2) Female Lead with questionable moral, antihero female lead

They're terrible people, but they're the protagonist. I've always been impressed by Michael Corleone, so all characters will somewhat follow his trope.

3) Mutant type superpower

Apparently, I love Mutant type superpowers more than witch magic (?). So I consistently put them in my story (Lizzy's Issue replacement will follow the same trope)

4)Several Male Leads

Several male leads compete for Female lead love, love triangle trope in other word. Otome isekai stories are usually like that (Abandoned Empress, Who made me a princess, It Looks Like I've Fallen into the World of a Reverse Harem Game, Bakarina) though

5) Politics 

Another otome isekai trope, yay. I should list this list as anything that happens in otome isekai.

But politics won't be a side story in my story, it'll play a central role, it shapes character's personality and relationships. I didn't like Lizzy's Issue because it didn't have enough politics in that🤭
