//Hello 👋
Gonna take a break from posting in this blog because of the strikes going on for Palestine. I don't know what to say or talk about for the situation, and I've mostly just been reblogging stuff on @mintaikcorpse , but I do want to participate with the strikes in any way I can. So for about a week, maybe even longer if the strikes last longer, I won't be posting on the pokeblogs. Stay safe guys, and try to support in any way you can! 👋

Litwick History
Tumblr media
Modern Litwick were first documented in the 1500s regions like Paldea, Unova, and Galar. At this time, their appearance was what we know of as today, but researchers show that Litwick goes a wee bit deeper than that.
While it's hard to pinpoint exactly where Litwick came from currently, they are distant relatives of the Ghastly line, with both of them being gasses that have ended up taking a solid form. Litwick's earliest known relative appeared to be a pokemon resembling a purple-bluish flame. While information on them is limited, researchers theorize that they hunted by luring prey away with their flames. This could also be the explanation for Will-ó-the-wisps, who were said to do the exact same thing. Their appearance stayed like this for a lot of history since it was a very good strategy for hunting. But, as the future will show us, it wasn't good enough.
In the 1500s, Litwick started to take on the appearance of candles, most likely so they could blend in with humans agriculture and help lure their victims away better. It worked, with many more people disappearing because of Litwick's trickery.
It wasn't until the 1930s, when the fear of ghost types started to die down a bit. Scientists were able to research Litwick and its line a lot better, learning the proper ways to care for one and how to avoid having your life force sucked out. Litwick breeding also became popular around this time, creating many variants of litwick. By this time as well, many people started using them more in pokemon leagues, boosting their ever-growing popularity. Now, much of the Litwick fear has died down and they're currently very popular ghost/fire types.

Runa's Quick History Fact #29
In many ancient cultures, Bellossum's dance is said to summon the sun. There is a very popular Johto fairy tale about a group of Bellossum's dancing bringing sunlight and warmth after weeks of only night

Quick History Fact #28
In 1600s-1700s, people with a Braixen/Delphox were thought to be witches. Since they were said to have immunity to fire, these people were drowned or hung instead of burned

Salutations! My name is Professor Hailey NewMew, and what're your thoughts on the mythical Pokemon Mew? I think Mew is a wonderful Pokemon, and is the sole reason why we even have Pokemon in the first place! Especially it's clone child, Mewtwo. although that's a bit of a controversial topic...
@askprofessorhailey
Hello 👋
I think Mew is very interesting, but there's so much mystery surrounding it that I want to figure out.
Mew is said to be the first pokemon, correct? Then, where would that put Unown, Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, most of the legendary pokenon in general? Well, I think that Mew was the first pokemon to be put on Earth and start out life. Mew most likely came down to Earth from wherever Arceus and the others lie and asexually bred. But like Manaphy breeding, it didn't come out properly so the offspring looked different and was a different species than the parent.
But, life also started with the first scientific organism being prokaryotes. Those most likely didn't come from Mew, as it wouldn't make sense for the offspring to be that, and they seem completely unrelated. So, perhaps Mew was asexually breeding and many spawn came from that, and while prokaryotes were evolving naturally over time and created sentient organisms, and Mew started breeding with those and creating what we now know as pokemon.
Of course, this is just my theory. What do you think on the matter?

Shuppet and Banette History
Tumblr media
(Art by Azurane on Deviantart)
Shuppet are ghost type pokemon originating in Hoenn, first being documented officially in the Hoennese Edo Period (1600s). They were said to be teru teru bōzu (small little paper dolls) come to life, playing pranks on the children that would mistreat them when they were still dolls. The Shuppet of this era had a slightly different appearance, being white and having paper instead of cloth cover them.
It wasn't until the 1940s that things began to change. During this time period, a popular brand of toy known as "ragged monsters" came out, which resembled what we know now as Banette. These toys quickly grew in popularity, subverting the expectation of regular humanoid dolls and appreciating the more creepy side of toys. These dolls were shipped to many other regions, with hundreds to thousands of them being made. Different variants of them were made as well to fit many occasions, and they became the staple of alternative toys at the time. (While I wasn't alive at that time, my ma did take part in this craze and I do have some of these dolls she decided to pass onto me).
But, like any craze, the popularity soon died out, and many of the dolls were abandoned and thrown away.
After that happened, complaints about seeing these dolls move on their own began to circle the region. Parents would say that their kids would see these strange toys move in the night and stand at the foot of their bed , almost with a vengeful energy. These dolls were recalled as to not anger anyone and to do more research on them. After extensive studies, it was revealed that these dolls were pokemon and the evolution of shuppet. This was a surprise to most, especially with it being the evolution of Shuppet, who was thought to have a rare evolution unrelated to these dolls. These pokemon were then named Jupetta, or Banette for Galarian speakers.

Jirachi
Tumblr media
(Art by 92ØMoomin on Twitter)
Base Info
Jirachi is a mythical pokemon that is said to have its origins in space. It is said that it sleeps deep in the mountains, only waking up every 1,000 years, coinciding with the Millenium Comet that appears. As the comet is the sky, Jirachi is awake, and when the comet disappears, Jirachi goes back to sleep. This period lasts exactly one(1) week, and while Jirachi is awake, it is said to be able to grant any wish given to it. How these wishes are granted vary depending on the culture, with some saying that you write a note on Jirachi's wings and some saying that if you sing to it in a voice of purity, the wish will come true. The eye on its stomach is said to be its true eye and opens up when a wish is being granted.
Despite popular fables showing Jirachi being able to create objects out of thin air, from the few interactions we've seen of it, Jirachi isn't able to create objects, but instead teleport them to the person.
Cultures
Obviously, Jirachi is the one that created the practice of wishing on a shooting star, because you never know which one might be Jirachi.
Tumblr media
My favorite thing about Jirachi is how it varies between cultures. While the appearances are always similar, some shoe Jirachi being more playful and sneaky while some show it being more ethereal and beautiful. In some myths, Jirachi is shown to be a special kind of Jinn, also known as genies. In one of these myths, a man frees a Jirachi from a cursed seel holding the peace of a meteor it fell from, and Jirachi grants him 3 wishes for saving it.
In some parts of Hoenn and regions near it, there are festivals every year that celebrate Jirachi. The festivals are known as "The Star Festivals" and last for seven days to honor the Millenium Comet, taking place on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month.
Creation
The story of how Jirachi was created varies between cultures, but the most common one is that the Millenium comet was given a blessing by Arceus and, depending on the version, his Sāriknight helpers. Jirachi was then given to the mortal realm as a gift, but to prevent humans from absuing this power, Arceus made it so Jirachi would sleep for one thousand years, with the comet only coming around again at that time.
Tumblr media
Random Thoughts
Jirachi have taken different forms in different cultures, and my theory is that there is more than one Jirachi, and not in the "theres a Jirachi for each alternatate universe." I think that Jirachi is actually a species. Say what you want, but I'm someone who believes in legendaries and mythical and all of that while also trying to look at things from a logical side. It would make sense, since space is huge and the variations of myths around the world, and how they appear in multiple places at once.

Runa's Quick History Fact #27
In many Hoenn myths, there are stories of Mawile that will turn into beautiful human women that will seduce men into following them into caves, where they will crush them with their massive jaws. The myths stage that you can tell who is secretly a Mawile if they get defensive about you touching their long hair or if you see a small slit in their hair

The history between man-made Pokemon started in ancient times, when Pokemon like Golurk and Claydol were instructed to protect any ancient temples and important historic landmarks to anyone they deemed as an intruder or unwanted trespassers. Since they were made by humans, both ground type guardians have an unbreakable loyalty to their former creators and that's why it's difficult to train them. You can only catch them if they see you as a worthy trainer, and both ground types were programmed to never harm or attack young children. although... Golurk is more likely to attack anyone... even young children due to their chest, because if it breaks then the Golurk wouldn't able to have full control of it until someone makes a new seal or... the second option is more grimmer... eliminate the rampage Pokemon to end it's control.
