you’ve been avoiding sukuna and he knows it.

it’s not that hard to see when you’re walking around with a sad face, getting to the lecture hall later than him so he doesn’t find a way to sit by your side, not answering his messages properly, not going to his practice games with lame excuses. and honestly, sukuna is kind of hurt because you refuse to acknowledge that he cares and tell him what is bothering you.

but sukuna isn’t dumb. and it was fairly easy to realise that you were upset with him because you were jealous of yorozu from his group literally throwing herself at him at every chance she got. it wasn’t anything new since she has been bothering him from the first year of university, when they were introduced as classmates.

it seemed like yorozu’s sense of obsession with him got stronger with upcoming spring. she was not leaving his side in the hallways, trying to tag along with whatever he was doing even while he didn’t spare her a glance, she was calling him the nickname he only allowed you to use which pissed him off further and she clung to him like a vice, her grip not wavering even when her dumb friends called out to her.

and in these moments, while sukuna’s mind was filled with questions like ‘how to get away with murder’, your insecurities got the best of you, seeing how sukuna, though visibly annoyed, didn’t seem to push her away completely. so you stopped walking up to him in the hallways after classes to plant his favourite types of kisses on his cheeks and you avoided catching his eyes because it hurt.

yorozu is beautiful, her beauty is carnal and almost every guy in the university drools over her so it shouldn’t come off as a surprise that maybe… maybe you aren’t the best choice for sukuna?

it goes on like this for a couple of excruciating days; jin and yuuji don’t risk asking about why sukuna seemingly only busies himself with practice and why he dons a deep scowl. they suspect that it’s something related to you, but don’t interfere and sukuna is happy they don’t. his mind is constantly focused on trying to get to you and as much as he wants to go to your place and talk things out… he’s scared. and he gives you space, thinking that the situation won’t escalate further.

but it does, when he catches you in the empty hallway, trying to get to your class with the saddest expression he’s ever seen you have. sukuna calls out to you, speeding up his steps and you stop, something hopeful burning in your eyes as you wait for him patiently.

yet, of course, yorozu appears out of nowhere with her wide smile and catches up to him quickly. sukuna sees the hope in your eyes quickly switch to betrayal, your bottom lip trembling and eyes glistening with tears as you turn away and run towards the bathroom. something cracks inside of him. but this time he’s not going to let damned yorozu stop him.

he rips his arm away from her grip, stepping back instantly while she looks up at him as if nothing is happening, “piss off or i will get violent.”

“‘kunaa~ why you gotta be so rude?” she leans her head against his shoulder insistently, batting her eyelashes at him. his eyes only see red when he hears the nickname again and he decides that he’s gonna use a different method this time.

he slowly guides his hand up her arm, feeling her relax under his touch, and weaves his fingers through her hair gently before his grip tightens and he tugs her head back roughly.

finally her face displays something other than satisfaction and that ugly smirk, and he shakes her in his hold while his other hand covers her mouth to stop her from making any sounds.

“don’t ever fuckin’ call me that,” he leans closer to her face. “and if you come up to me anytime again i won’t stop at this.”

she whimpers and nods shakily, trying to pull away before he harshly lets go of her hair, causing her to fall down.

he runs to the bathroom quickly, entering without any care and looks under the cabins to see where you are, but you seem to have found another place to hide while he was busy with yorozu. sukuna runs around looking through empty classes until he finally finds you in the art class, sitting in the corner farthest from the door and sniffling quietly.

“baby?” you jolt in your spot and cover your face with your hands, hurriedly wiping away your tears. he approaches you slowly, his hands itching to touch you, but he understands that you might not want that. “you cryin’?”

“no?” you croak out, sobbing a little more and sukuna feels like getting punched in the face repeatedly. you finally look at him, and sukuna steps closer to stand between your legs.

“‘m sorry.”

“you don’t have to apologise, y’know? ‘s okay if you like her.”

now, that’s crazy. “the fuck? i hate that bitch.”

you give him an unsure look and he sinks onto his knees before you, tugging your hands down from your face before he cups your jaw like he loves to do. you pout at him, still sniffling and trying to avoid his gaze, but he doesn’t let you, gently shaking your head to make you focus on him.

“look at me, baby.”

“‘m looking, ‘kuna.”

“no, do it properly.”

you take a few deep breaths, wiping your nose with your sleeve messily. and lock gazes with him. sukuna leans down, slotting his lips against yours, his free hand resting on top of your head. the weight of it is familiar to you, making you relax into him, your hands wrapping around his arm.

he pulls away, stroking your hair as he looks down at you with a gentle look in his eyes.

“i don’t want her. i only want you and i want you to engrave it into your thick skull or i will do it myself.”

you give him an unsure smile, eyes a little bit brighter now.

“i’m sorry for makin’ you feel like this.”

“i’m sorry for not talking to you about it.”

sukuna nods at you, hugging you close to his chest and kissing the top of your head lovingly, before he tightens his hold on you so much you start punching his back.

“but if you ever decide to run from me again i will kill you.”

Sukuna would never admit to anyone, not even himself that he liked you.

He denied practically anything involved in that term. "Love? Oh, don't make me laugh", he constantly thought that, for him, it was something undoable that couldn't even be on his mind, he had other things to think about. You were his 'possession', that's all, he barely spent time with you, but these emotions were killing him. After his missions to end a human life, he would find you at the door of the temple with a box in your hands, wrapped in cloths, something he despised.

For some reason, he took care of you, a human, you were a wife to one of the worthless sorcerers he killed. At first, he liked you, an interesting and harmless little thing who helped Uraume with temple tasks, but you started to be a weight on his back. He didn't know how or why he could feel human feelings, when the only thing he really needed to think about was being bad.

Sukuna hated it when he missed you, the warmth of your body next to him in the mornings when he was busy assassinating a new enemy who claimed to be a match for the King of Curses. He obviously shook off that thought in battle, a bloody smirk curling the corners of his lips when he saw the dead body in front of him, the jujutsu sorcerer's clothes torn apart.

He loved that feeling, the pleasure of seeing a new corpse killed by his hands, someone who wasn't worth anything in this world. A mere human who had no value in his life.

Another life over.

Arriving at his temple, he could already the aroma of food that had been successfully prepared, his servant Uraume never managed to disappoint him. The smell was really tempting, but he still wasn't going to eat, he needed to check on someone. Once inside his quarters, his gaze hovered over your small form on top of the bed, wrapped in sheets, curled up in a ball. You looked... Sad?

Not that he cared, of course, he would never think of comforting you now, it was just rare to see you like this. You always used to show up at the entrance when he arrived, with a smile on your face, a silly gift in your hands as if he was going to say thank you. He carefully came to your side, sitting on the edge of the bed as he watched your chest rise and fall with your breathing.

He had to admit now, you looked pretty sleeping.

Sukuna sighed deeply, resisting the urge to touch you, his knuckles cracking to want to stroke your hair. He couldn't do that, no, not in a million times. Quickly, he got up from the bed, but before he could leave, a warm hand grabbed his, stopping him. His body shivered, feeling the heat of your body envelope him like a sheet, just your touch made him feel like this.

Damn it. He was kind of an idiot for agreeing with you. He cursed himself as he laid down next to you, his body almost still beneath you, his fingers sliding through the strands of your hair as you slept on his chest. You were quiet, sniffling against him, he thought you were just needy, and now he got the news that he needed to take care of you because you had the flu.

He was aware that you were incapable of doing anything in that state, the illness at that time could be terminal, he could obviously cure you, but there was something satisfying about knowing who is the only one who can take care of you. He scoffed when he heard you cough, an almost soft smile appearing on his face, his eyes closed, still caressing your body.

When you lifted your head from his chest to stand up, in one quick movement, his arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you back to him in your previous position. He narrowed his eyes at you, his eyes before having a quiet glow, now perhaps piercing your soul. "Who told you to stay away, brat?"

For a while, the smile still remained on Yoon gwi-nam's face, but it soon disappeared when you noticed the damage he did to you. Well, you even thought he had feelings for you, however now it made sense that you would never end up in a relationship.

You searched for some preparations to arrange the little card and customize it as best you could, having difficulty arranging it correctly with the knife to cut a cardboard package you bought at the corner store, and accidentally cutting yourself with it.

"Shit." You cursed under your breath as you slid your hand gently to cover the injured hand, and walked quickly to the bathroom, urgently needing the bandages you'd previously placed on the mirror's door. "Where is it?" You've finally found to heal your wound and clean it so it doesn't get infected. "Thanks!" You kept your head resting on the shoulder of Su-hyeok who was desperate to get away from you. It all happened half an hour ago when the two of you were chosen to do an English assignment together and you ended up falling asleep next to him. But now it was totally different, he had decided to change seats with you and sit by the window overlooking the aisle. As he watched you scribbling something in your notebook and revealing a photograph of your childhood displayed at the top of the page, he was surprised at how similar the bow tied in your hair was to the picture. He glanced at you now and then, while you kept writing weird names in your notebook and then putting them away. He stopped for a moment, then felt a weight on his left shoulder.

You had slept.

He tried to wake you up in every way, even slightly pulling your uniform, where your badge was stamped. At the end of class, you woke up and stretched, looking around realizing that all the students had already left. And seeing that you were all alone. You then decided to get up and rubbing your eyes, pulled out your bag and placed it right behind your back. In the hallway, you bumped into Su-hyeok again who apologized to you and it was both sides' fault, as he was distracted too after all.

"I'm sorry!" You bowed in apology and he gave a small smile in return. His gaze was surprised to see him and wanting to know why he hadn't woken him up sooner. "Fine, but why didn't you wake me up?" You said and then he put his hand on his head in embarrassment, getting that cute look on his face again and a hand around his neck, telling him that you had fallen asleep on his shoulder. "Now you understand, and maybe you can give me your number so we can talk." You nodded and handed him the scribbled paper, heading straight for the exit.

It was like you were in love with him, and yes, you were.
