Saw this topic on another post but honestly just felt like making my own post, but like, sometimes when people make headcanon heavy canon divergent fanfiction, they're often doing it for like. Themselves because THEY like the characters and it's what they want, and like...not everybody wants to slap some different names on them and publish it and make an original work. Like, for one if you fall in love with certain characters that's just...the characters you wanna work with. And two, not everybody even like. Wants to publish things and do things professionally like that and it's for them to y'know, have fun.

#same #also just saying but i don't think a character being headcanon heavy or tweaked slightly for the work suddenly makes it like. not that chara #cter #like #for one it's fiction #for two there's a bajillion characters out there with slightly different tweaks and story concepts who are all considered the in a #sense #so #idk just my take #sometimes if you fall in love with a character that's just...the one u want anyway and writing self indulgent fanfiction isn't hurting anyon #fandom stuff

People are allowed to like Billy Hargrove and want more from his redemption even tho he's Problematic, like that's honestly kind of the point

The people who like Billy the most like him because of his potential to change, despite all the horrible things he's done. Especially a child who's been abused his whole life?? Out of anybody he would have been the perfect character for a full on redemption arc with Themed and Morals about forgiveness and other stuff but whatever ig

I don't think Billy should have died. It's just...far more interesting to me to see a character actually have to face their mistakes instead of them having a moment of heroism and dying. ESPECIALLY when that person was someone who's been abused and has become an abuser themself. I'd like to see a story where that like... doesn't happen.

ADHD AND MINIMUM WAGE

Something I haven't really seen anybody talk about before is how the cruel "we don't pay you to do x" mindset when you're not Working Every Second in minimum wage jobs affects people with ADHD and possibly other neurodivergencies in a very...specific way. Often these jobs will have you do what I like to call "background tasks." Tasks that only really require half of your focus and makes you feel like you need to do something else to help your brain stimulate, like just...cleaning all the time or whatever. These jobs want you to do this every second you're not dealing with a customer, and as someone with ADHD like...it hurts. It's indescribable how it feels to constantly have your brain crave stimulation, so when you try to look at your phone or doodle for a few to "recharge" in a sense and get ready to do more background tasks...people get mad at you for being lazy or something and honestly? That's cruel lmao

I wish people would care more about how words affect others. Like I know Tumblr can be pretty good about that (sometimes) but then you go into the real world and people just. Don't care. They don't care if something's a slur, they don't care if a certain type of joke belittles a group of people (a group of people they will have friends a part of) and just. not care. Like it hurts to know that sometimes people just don't care about other human beings who have suffered enough to change something so small. It makes me sad.
