Oh hey, I’m back? Kind of?

The last time I made a post about anything was in June, which was about a month after I started a new medication. It feels like so much more time has passed than that, but that’s 2020 in general, right?

I took a break from tumblr and from the Sims to deal with life, deal with my health, and to deal with school.

Depression is a real heavy bitch.

I couldn’t entirely figure out why I was so reluctant to return to the Sims, especially since it has been a comfort game for me since 2001.  Some of it was just the need to do other things, some of it was the fact that I made a game I enjoyed a chore. Trying to do the legacy game, with a little narrative and minor photoshopping, took the fun out of it. I had this urge to keep up with popular players and get noticed, but that shouldn’t be why I play a game or be a part of any fandom.

I also, like many people here, have way too much CC to keep up with and ultimately don’t use, so it became even more of a chore to make sure everything was up to date every single time I went to play.

So, I think I’m getting close to wanting to play again and I believe the first step is to actually sit down and purge my CC down to the core ones I like/use the most. I don’t want to go completely vanilla, but I definitely need to get rid of a lot.

I don’t know the fate of my legacy game(s), or if anyone is even interested in a gameplay from like 50 packs ago (still stuck on Strangerville, guys, I’m way behind the times lol) but I’ll probably continue them for the sake of just doing it.

Still on hiatus

First, I’d like to make a comment on current events:

I hear you, I see you, and I stand with you. Let me know what I can do to help and I will do it.

My silence on this site should not be construed as agreeing with the problem at hand. I chose to stay silent until now because I didn’t have the right tools at my disposal to properly articulate my feelings. I still don’t. But I don’t think it’s right for me to make an update without telling you where I stand first. I’m signing petitions, I’m spreading resources on Facebook, and I’m spending even more time educating myself so that I can be a better ally. If there is anything I can do to help even more, let me know.

I know I could be using my other social media platforms to spread more information, but I’m leaving those silent to allow the movement’s voices be heard louder without me disrupting it.

My personal life update will be below a cut for those who are interested.

It honestly feels like it was just a few weeks ago I made the post about being disinterested in the Sims.

Simultaneously, it feels like a lot and nothing has happened since April.

Points of interest: 1. I passed the semester from hell with good grades. 2. I was officially diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and began a medication for it that has been absolute hell (but it will be worth it) 3. I’m once again addicted to Animal Crossing and it’s great lol

I’m much more active on discord in a Star Trek group than any of the Sims discords I’m in (sorry NSFT!). We met through tiktok of all places and they’re one of the best nerd families I could have ever asked for.

I keep saying one day I will return to the Sims, and I will, but I don’t know when. Maybe once I start feeling better from the treatment for my autoimmune disorder. We’ll see.

hey there...

I haven’t really been active for a month and I don’t really have a good excuse, or at least one that I think is good. [I’m going to put most of my ramblings under a “keep reading” for the sake of everyone’s feed.]

I grew disinterested in the Sims for a little bit. But I think it’s okay to take a break from some hobbies to pursue others. Sims is fun and all, but it gets repetitive sometimes, even with mods enhancing it. I also found myself spending more time making sure my mods were up to date and downloading all the CC I never end up using anyway, than actually playing the game. You would think that during the stay-at-home orders I’d have more time to play, too, but I spent the last month struggling to get a new routine established... and I’m still struggling to be completely honest. My parents have been accommodating to my school needs but a lot of it has to do with self-discipline and the difficulty in separating school, work, and home life. When you’re ADHD, stressed, anxious, and depressed, it’s hard to get motivated to get work done.

I’ve been letting myself get lost in Animal Crossing and a Star Trek group I’m in as part of my coping mechanisms. That group has been an amazing support on days that were really tough and I’m proud to be a member. (if you’re at all interested in a Star Trek RP and are 18+, send me a message. we love having new people)

I don’t know when I’ll be back for Sims. When I do come back, I think I’m going to have to do a major purge of my CC and start mostly fresh.

I have “at risk” parents

My father was sent home from work today with orders to go into social isolation for the next 3-4 weeks minimum because he’s considered “at risk” for his age and the fact that he’s immunocompromised.

Thus, I am acutely aware that I have to be very careful of going to public places that have the potential for exposure. Any appointments reminders that come up, like my dentist yesterday, I have to state that I have at risk parents because they’re in their 60s. 

Understandably, they are hesitant for me to come in unless it’s necessary.

What does my father do?

Goes books a cleaning at our dentist.

We’re on like day 5 of social distancing and I’ve been more productive in a span of 3 days than I have been in 3 months.

I think I need more bookshelves though. I don’t know how but I’ve accumulated more books than I remember buying/receiving.

So way back in January, as an early Valentine’s Day gift, my fiance bought me the special edition Animal Crossing Switch!

It arrived yesterday and I haven’t stopped smiling :D

He also pre-ordered Animal Crossing: New Horizons so I can play it on the 20th.

I haven’t bought a game for myself that wasn’t Sims in so long but I bought Yoshi’s Crafted World (Nintendo is having a rare sale period, hop on it!) and I’m having a blast!!

I know this is a simblr, but I might also post some AC gameplay too for fun :)

I’ve been running a holodeck campaign on a Star Trek discord I’m part of. It’s been taking up far more of my time than I expected and I love it.

After Emily cleared her head, she asked Basil if he had vaccinated any other members of the town. They needed more than just the two of them to take on the Mother Plant.

Basil: Uh... I’ll be right back.

As he turned around he spotted Sgt Bright and Zoe the Lab Coat. 

Basil: That’ll do.

Running up to them, he threw the serum in their faces and rapidly explained the situation with plenty of wild hand gestures.

Basil: Good? Good. Let’s go!

I’m a mix between Chaotic Good, Lawful Good, and Lawful Neutral depending on what I’ve got going on in each folder.

Basic categories like Female Clothes, Male Clothes, Children/Toddler clothes. Then in each of those folders it’s separated by Tops, Bottoms, Outfits, Dresses, etc. Then in each of those is by creator. :D

Buy mode and shoes are by creator only. Accessories are by Male/Female/Unisex, then type, then creator.

I even have a folder for “not sorted yet” when I’m doing mass download sessions, then I obsessively sort when I’m done lol

Basil had a feeling the plant monster wasn’t too thrilled with his intrusion. His suspicions were proven true when he saw that the ominous clouds had changed colors. As pretty as the new colors were, there was an increase in spores as well and he knew he had to find Emily again and soon!

Emily was found wandering the sidewalk around the library, once again muttering about the creepy “Mother”. Unfortunately, the slapping technique didn’t work again so he pulled out the serum made in the lab...

Oh shoot... I just realized that I’ve caught up to my screenshots in-game.

So... that means Tessa hasn’t had kid 2 yet. The Strangerville Mystery is still happening. Rory is still a toddler.

What should Basil pursue next while Rory grows up? And what should Rory do? I have all but Moschino, Tiny Living (hoping to get this one soon), and a couple other early stuff packs that don’t add anything to gameplay so I never got them.

Does anyone have any name suggestions for baby #2? I don’t know if it’s a girl or boy yet so maybe gender neutral names? 

I don’t do well with rotation gameplays so Rory and their sibling might end up living together so that I don’t feel guilty about the heir apparent situation lol

I really ought to do a makeover of the neighborhoods but I’m too lazy/don’t have time.
