Trash Fire (2016) a short, mostly spoiler free review

wow, just umm, wow. two pieces of shit are shitty people and the one piece of shits family history causes problems, thats the film.  This was suggested to me via tiktok as a horror film. Its listed on wikipedia as a black comedy. its neither scary, nor funny. its disturbing, and not in like a cool, horror, kind of way. its just disturbing. this is not compliment. 

trash fire is a very appropriate name for this movie: 1/10

Hell House LLC. (2015)- a short, mostly spoiler free review.

Hell House is another found footage movie that I actually saw. a few years ago. But since im bingeing scary movies i thought i’d revisit it. A group of young adults convert an abandoned hotel into a haunted attraction and chaos ensues. 

Hell House unfortunately suffers from what most found footage films do, shaky camera movement and poor angles that are supposed to hide the monster. I can forgive that considering the genre. What i cant forgive are the random moments where they replay the footage in slow motion so you can see the creepy shit you missed the first time. I felt like i was watching one of those youtube videos titled “SCARY CRYPTID AT 2AM REAL NOT CLICKBAIT”. 

The few scares that they had were nice, but overall i was just trying to figure out what the fuck i was looking at half the time. The concept is really cool actually, i just wish they did something cool with it instead of showing a bunch of unlikeable people arguring for 60 minutes. I remember seeing this the first time and i thought it was good. Im not sure what was wrong with me.

Pretty bland, kinda boring, a few scares 5/10

Host (2020)-a short, mostly spoiler free review.

A found footage film that takes place entirely in a zoom call. 6 people perform a seance via the internet and ghosts do ghost shit to them. If the pandemic never happened, this movie prolly wouldnt have been made and that would have been a shame. 

I love found footage films and this is a really unique take on them. It really utilizes the format of a zoom call, the end credits being an especially nice touch.  The audio qualtiy was poor, but i guess it really fits with the whole zoom call aeshetic so i cant complain too much. makes some dialogue diffucult to make out (thank you subtitles). 

After a certain point, youve seen everything there is to see in horror films. what i appreciate about Host is that they take the expected beats in every scary movie, and twists it a bit. just enough to make it a little unique.

The only bad thing i can say about Host is the ending. It suffers the way most horror films do in the sense that once the action is over, they dont really know how to end it. Wish it was more creative but it was t e r r i b l e,

Overall, Host was unique, had plenty of good scares, and was genuinely entertaining. 7.5/10
